Using the Rear-view Mirror to go Forward?

If anyone drives an auto, it doesn’t take long to learn the rearview mirror is used intermittently to only see what’s behind us – not constantly to see where we are going. Instead, while driving we pay more attention to what’s in front of us to arrive safely at our destination.

Likewise, we don’t recommend going through life walking backward. Regardless of our destination, there will always be obstacles in our path to avoid.

While this seems like common sense to most, there are millions of people going through life backward like cars in a demolition derby. For some, just one obstacle can delay if not altogether destroy their lives and keep them from arriving at their destination or finishing the race.

You see, going forward requires a lot of tenacity, dedication, and determination. Going forward demands we explore ways around the obstacles in life to achieve any goal.

For instance, any quarterback could cross the goal line every play – if they only run backward, but at the end of the game, guess who wins and who loses?

To imagine a quarterback scoring on every play is an insane thought. It won’t happen because there are obstacles – defensive players determined that it won’t happen, and they aren’t running backward!

Of course, football could be the perfect example of life in the ‘real world.’ When the quarterback receives the football from his center, he will either gain yardage, break-even or lose yardage.

The winner will repeat this scenario until they win by never giving up. Winning quarterbacks take their licks, get off their backs after being knocked down untold times.

Finally, they will figure out ways to take the ball over the opponent’s goal line. No, not every quarterback will be a winner.

Like football, every person on earth is not a born winner, either. When people get on the playing field of life, what will we do to win? Will we score, fumble, or end up on our backsides? All decisions are ‘our’ strategies.

Winners constantly strive to improve their game and find ways to work smarter and win bigger. If we want to become a professional, it doesn’t just happen. We must work hard to earn success.

Never is the pathway to success paved in roses. There are always those darn thorns that make us appreciate the roses. However, thorns may teach us critical lessons.

Being a parent is one of the greatest opportunities and professions. Even though we know lots of people with children, parents quickly learn children don’t come into the world with instructions.

Parents are human and humans’ make mistakes. We often get knocked down, just like quarterbacks. However, deserting our children by walking off the playing field is not the best response.

The better response is to learn from our mistakes, do whatever we can to rectify the issues, and then move forward – not fixating on the past (rearview mirror) but looking to a better future!

The common thread running through Socialism and the Democrat Party is everyone must be treated as a victim – those only able to walk backwards and see life through their rearview mirrors. Life is never about where we have been but where we are going, right?

Harmful ideologies serve no positive realities in life and demean people into becoming victims. Then they believe once we go down, then we must stay there draining all hope, aspirations, and dreams.

Victims then proceed to spend their lives acting like juveniles by whining and complaining then demanding Government (neighboring taxpayers) take from others to provide everything for us.

Does anyone really believe any government can do a better job providing our needs than ourselves? Do we want a government committee deciding whether we receive medical care for cancer?

Obviously, if any government is going to provide anything, there are always ‘strings’ attached. Many Veterans can’t receive proper medical care even though America guarantees it for their services provided.

Democrats want to provide illegal aliens a free college education but deny US Citizens those same privileges. How does that work for you?

You see, governments can do anything a few elites want to do and there is nothing citizens can do about it, except to vote them out of office. However, the Democrats are now demanding Socialism so there will be no more votes – just tyrants. It’s going to be their way or the highway!

On the other hand, Capitalism provides everyone the same opportunities in life. It doesn’t matter our race, sex, or pedigree; success is just around the corner if we get off our backs and work for it.

However, Capitalism does require accountability and never playing the ‘blame others’ game or victimhood. Our success or lack thereof is not based upon others, but our own standards.

The Middle East has been blaming Israel for their failures for ions of years. Have such false charges helped anyone?

While the other countries flounder and live in misery, Israel has become a military powerhouse and financial capital of the world.

While Israel fights for freedom, liberty, and justice for Arabs, Christians, and Jews; other countries fight to oppress women, deny human rights, and demand lifestyles from the 1600’s.

It’s easy to tell which countries are looking forward and those that view life through their rearview mirror, isn’t it? How will we go forward in life?

Joshua 1:5-11 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
