Golden State Warriors Win NBA Championship

The Golden State Warriors bounced back from an ugly game in Cleveland last week to win the NBA Finals on Monday night before an ecstatic home crowd.

Kevin Durant had 39 points and Stephen Curry had 34 as the Warriors prevailed by a score of 129-120.

Despite being pulverized on Friday, the Warriors regrouped and didn’t let LeBron James and the Cavaliers get back into the series like they did in 2016 after blowing a 3-1 lead.

King James once again had a huge game with 41 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists but it wasn’t enough to fend off a determined Golden State team.

The addition of Durant – who split from the Oklahoma City Thunder after becoming a free agent – was a huge factor in the Warrior’s title run this year. Durant ended up with the MVP award as well.

The championship is their second in three years and the team remains loaded for the foreseeable future.

As for Cleveland, the Cavaliers dug themselves too big of a hole by dropping the first three games of the series. Had they played those games with the intensity and killer instinct that they exhibited in game four, the end result may have been different.

Both teams will likely be favored to meet up again in next year’s finals.

The NBA season is now officially over. The 2017 season will tip off in October.
