Tebow Smacks Home Run in First At Bat Following Promotion

Former Florida Gators great and ex-NFL quarterback Tim Tebow certainly has a flair for the dramatic.

After beginning his baseball career with the Columbia Fireflies of the Class A South Atlantic League, Tebow was recently promoted by the New York Mets to the next level.

In a return to his home state, Tebow is now playing for the high-A St. Lucie Mets and thrilled his loyal fans by spanking a home run in his very first time at bat.

Tebow had two hits in the game, a 5-3 loss to the Palm Beach Cardinals.

While it’s highly unlikely that he will climb too far this year – despite the ongoing troubles of the MLB parent team – he continues to work on his chops as he pursues the dream of making the big leagues.

Florida Gators fan blog the Alligator Army was quick to point out that Tebow’s latest dinger has surpassed the home run total of NBA all-time great Michael Jordan during his time spent with the farm team of the Chicago White Sox.

While the haters will always criticize Tebow – largely because of his devout Christian beliefs – he will always have a following because he is one of the truly good guys in sports.
