The Ultimate Hate Crime: Gender Selection Abortions

In this installment of ZoNation, Zo discusses the “mind blowing irony” of Planned Parenthood’s gendercide epedemic.

Planned Parenthood will help you abort your baby, even if the grounds for the abortion is the sex or sexual preference of the child. Should gender selection be classified as a hate crime? Hear what Zo thinks.

Resistance 44 Co-Founder Justen Charters Stands With S.E Cupp

So we all know the sexually graphic, totally depraved, and utterly false story Hustler published  about conservative commentator S.E. Cupp.  Everyone should be appalled by this misogynistic trash.  I hope the National Organization of Women will release a statement of condemnation themselves against these attacks against Ms. Cupp and other conservative women who take pride in thinking independently and feel that the female vote should be monolithic.  In the meantime, Resistance 44  co-founder Justen Charters has prepared a response of his own.  I stand with S.E. Cupp!

N.O.W. Protest–Success Or ???

While doing research I visited the National Organization for Women (N.O.W.) website. My attention was drawn to one of their hot topic items, that of the recent organized protest against Rush Limbaugh. I was surprised since I thought this issue had died out weeks, if not months ago, following Rush’s apology. Still, since I’d heard about the planned protest I was curious to read their thoughts. You can read them here. It’s a completely positive piece about their group including a picture of a half dozen protesters with signs.

Sounds good, right? Sure, until you read other articles and realize there were a total of seven, yes, seven women on the street. (You don’t have to torture yourself and listen to their whole argument, just check out the camera’s pan and know that is the whole group.)

Honestly, if it were my group and we had such a lackluster turn out I’d probably skip the follow up article. But then, there are likely true believers in the N.O.W. cause who will read it and pump their fists cheering their fellow feminists on…without realizing their true numbers.

Conservative Personality S. E. Cupp Sickeningly Attacked by Hustler

Conservatives may be familiar with gutsy GBTV personality S. E. Cupp. Cupp, who frequently appears on Fox News and various media outlets is a strong, fiery conservative who minces no words about her opinions, and doesn’t apologize for them either.

Because of this, she’s been the subject of personal attack before, although none quite as reprehensible as Hustler magazine’s recent decision to doctor an image of Ms. Cupp. Under the heading “What Would S. E. Cupp Look Like With a D*ck in Her Mouth?”, Hustler published a ‘composite fantasy picture’ of Ms. Cupp with genitalia in her mouth as an indictment of her pro-life stance, apparently justifying this sick attack with a disclaimer saying the image is altered and ‘should not be taken seriously’.

A redacted image of the photo, taken from The Blaze:

The caption attached to the photo reads:

“S.E. Cupp is a lovely young lady who read too much Ayn Rand in high school and ended up joining the dark side. Cupp, an author and media commentator who often shows up on Fox News program, is undeniably cute. But her hotness is diminished when she espouses dumb ideas like defunding Planned Parenthood. Perhaps the method pictured here is Ms. Cupp’s suggestion for avoiding an unwanted pregnancy.”

Where is the National Organization of Women? Recently, they sponsored a boycott of Rush Limbaugh’s radio program because of his comments about Sandra Fluke. Yet, the virtual rape of a woman is somehow not their concern? The About section of NOW’s website states that, among other things, NOW focuses on representation of women in the media. Surely then, this despicable media attack of S. E. Cupp is in the realm of NOW’s concern. Or could it be that, because Ms. Cupp is a conservative, NOW somehow does not deem her worthy of defense?

Hustler has every right to publically disagree with Ms. Cupp’s conservatism and pro-life stance, but that right is not extended to character defamation or actual malice. Given the nature of the photo, and the commentary alongside, the malice behind Hustler’s image is hard to miss. Hustler refers to Ms. Cupp as ‘a member of the dark side’- read conservative. They call her support of life ‘a dumb idea’. And the doctored image they suggest is Ms. Cupp’s idea of preventing unwanted pregnancy. This is much more than disagreeing with Ms. Cupp’s opinion. Disagreeing with her pro-life stance is the paragraph accompanying the photo, which snidely mocks her conservatism. Malice is the phallic image, doctored to portray her in a manner she neither acted in or agreed to be portrayed in. S. E. Cupp may be a public figure, and open to public comment, but that status does not mean her rights vanish. This is not a joke, as Hustler suggests. This is sick and perverted.

This brutal attack on a conservative woman once again shows where the true war on women stems from. Not the right wing media, but the left wing media, which for all it claims to see women as more than mere sexual receptacles, can apparently only respond to arguments they disagree with by name calling and creating images which portray women as receptacles. Women everywhere should be outraged, and not just at Hustle for portraying Ms. Cupp in this light. Women should be outraged that the National Organization of Women puts party politics above the rights of people it claims to represents. If NOW had any scruples, they would be defending Ms. Cupp’s rights to speak her mind instead of remaining silent in this disgusting attack on a strong woman.

Meet Obama’s Newest Composite Girlfriend “Julia”: A Helpless Welfare Queen in Need of a Sugar Daddy

Half of what I say is meaningless…” So goes the romance ballad “Julia” as rendered by The Beatles, back in the day when being a man meant doing an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, and women’s liberation meant a fierce spirit of independence and a ‘can do’ attitude. But now Lennon’s eternal line could be equally applied to the Obama campaign’s desperate meme: Julia.

Apparently, women have become nothing more than fragile souls lost in a man’s world, without any hope of making it on their own. No, their only hope lays in wooing the head sugar daddy Obama. At least that is what the left-leaning Democrat Party would have us believe with Obama’s new composite girlfriend “Julia.”

After a slideshow was unveiled showing the hapless fembot, by all appearances a normal girl (barring her creepy and symbolic lack of facial features), the conservatarian blogosphere couldn’t wait to go about shredding the #Julia narrative on Twitter — just like it did with the #WaronWomen, #ObamaAteaDog, and #AttackWatch. In a matter of hours the Twitter hashtag #Julia was effectively O-bliterated.

What made the Julia narrative so insulting and demeaning towards women is that it shows a fictional female who is completely helpless and would likely die a tragic and horrible death early in life if not for Obama’s welfare state apparatus. The campaign’s Orwellian presentation (after all, “Julia” is the main heroine of 1984), shows a girl progressing through life but by the grace of Obama’s munificence, and seems to imply she would become a crack-addicted, syphilis-infected prostitute laying in a gutter if Mitt Romney should become the next president.

So much is specious and mendacious about the Obama campaign’s narrative that it is not worth taking apart here, as others have done effectively with parody sites. What I find most interesting is the left’s pivoting away from a women’s “liberation” narrative to a “war on women.” This rhetorical shift implies (to paraphrase Obama’s comment to a panel of bankers that he was the only thing keeping them from the pitchforks) that Obama is the only thing keeping Democrat women from being ravished by a testosterone-maddened nation of would-be sexual enslavers.

The U.S. government has once against set itself up as the role of ubiquitous protector of citizens who are presumed to be guilty until proven innocent. If one has a penis, he is guilty of wanting to oppress women. If one is white, he is guilty of being racist against blacks. So the fairy tale goes.

This is critical theory in practice: adopt and mobilize “victim’s groups” according to ascriptive and unavoidable criteria. Convince enough people in those groups that they are being repressed by “the system,” even if the things they are experiencing are a matter of normal hardships that are a part of growing up or pursuing a career in a labor market, then you can get them to mobilize for “change.” Never mind that the solution that the government is offering is worse than the cure: an ossified system where all channels to upward mobility lay through paternalistic ring-kissing and one cannot get ahead according to one’s individual initiative, effort, and talents.

At the dark heart of critical theory is an inherently anti-capitalist imperative and a drive to make human beings a means to the political end of state power. We can see this clearly now with the women’s movement. After an initial period of commendable “women’s liberation” during the sexual revolution, where females sought to take a greater part in American society and in the political process, the left effectively hijacked the movement to steer it against capitalism.

The economic disruption caused by state intervention into the market economy since FDR and the welfare state expansion taking place under Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” has wreaked havoc on the family unit — a key target of Marxian animus. Through intentional dollar devaluation and other government manufactured inefficiencies in the economy, as well as regulations, taxation, fees, and the like, it is now almost necessary for both parents to work to maintain a middle class lifestyle (the ratio is currently about 1.6 median incomes).

Encouragement of rampant sexuality through the schools, and other perverse social policies are part-and-parcel of Democrats trying to get irresponsible people hooked on welfare state dependency. Implementing laws and economic policies that ensure high divorce rates are part of replacing hard-working, self-sufficient couples with welfare dependents married to the state. Note that according to statistics, the sufficient one-income family is becoming a thing of the past. This is no accident.

The impetus for all this personal and financial wreckage is power — once the Democrat Party have enough poor people ensnared on government handouts, luring ever more onto the federal plantation by creating havoc in the private sector, thereby diminishing the number of productive jobs, then those are voters for life. Fear campaigns will send them to the polls to keep them reliably voting Democrat in perpetuity. There is no American Dream for such people; only voters locked into a mediocre and servile obeisance to the state. Meanwhile, those who work for the government make about twice as much as the average worker and live parasitically off the fruit of productive people’s labor.

Such a backdrop is vital to understanding the Julia metanarrative: wander away from the welfare state reservation and the capitalist, misogynist sharks are going to gobble you up. Once again, we have a miraculously appearing meme coming from out of nowhere, inventing a war no one even knew was going on. And it is implied that if you don’t vote for Obama, you too could become a casualty.

The United States of America is still one of the wealthiest, freest countries in the world, despite the Democrat Party’s damnedest efforts. But it won’t remain that way for ever. If the left gets its way, we will all be faced with Julia’s conundrum: maintain a noble, principled, and dignified lifestyle of pursuing her hopes and dreams, or submit to the state after giving up seeking a career in the intentionally wrecked and inefficient economy.

Ladies, don’t fall prey to this statist scam, and recall the feisty, fighting spirit of real “women’s liberation.” There may be some of you tempted to trade in your hopes and dreams for a life spent serving the paternalistic state. But always remember, you’ve come a long way, baby.

The way for women to become liberated is to free the economy from the state’s meddling and seek advancement in a competitive labor market. Those idiots who don’t give women equal pay for equal work are punished mercilessly by the invisible hand of the market. For those of you who think the welfare-pimp-in-chief is going to make everything fair for everybody, without gaming the system in his favor, that’s his invisible hand on your asses.

The New Right Declares “War on Morons”

By Dr. Christopher Flappitydo, Director of the Institute for Diversity & Tolerance & Multiculturalism & Compassion & Inclusiveness, as originally published in the New England Agitator.

America is facing an epidemic. The GOP’s shock troops on the New Right have launched into a bigoted “war on morons” — a right-wing crusade that threatens the very existence of the Democrat Party. If something isn’t done to halt the proliferation of alternative information sources in this country, the progress of statism, economic insolvency, and the idiocy that drives them both could be reversed once and for all.

For decades now, the Democrat Party has rested easy knowing that government-run schools were turning our nation’s children into morons. The young and undereducated have become our most reliable voting bloc. The leftwing corporate media have been all-too-willing to reinforce their selective stupidity through half-assed reportage. This successful program has always portrayed Democrats in the best possible light, while demonizing conservatives and Republicans as heartless villains out to impose some vague form of neo-fascism on the poor, helpless masses.

Well, that’s what the right-wing bastards want. That’s not the point.

This cozy arrangement’s worked beautifully for us over generations, where those who want to expand government are eulogized, while those who want to reign it in are blasted as racists, sexists, homophobes — whatever nasty names spring to mind.

We compassionate liberals wouldn’t want anything as silly as facts and rational discourse to get in the way of government bailouts, handouts, and tax credits for too-big-to-fail businesses or welfare paradise for the underclass. But apparently this new-fangled “Internet” threatens to level the playing field by letting conservatives challenge us in the public forum. And to be honest, we can’t tolerate that.

Recently, whenever the echo chamber media repeat our intentionally stupid talking points, these New Right bastards are there to expose us and make us look ridiculous! Conservatives are flash-mobbing websites with their annoying talking points and an insistence on “truth” and “fairness.” Well, frick, we allow them am radio and a cable television station for dissent! What more could these sing-heiling Nazis possibly want?

Once upon a time in this country, we statists could have a nice little “War on Poverty,” a “War on Drugs,” or a never-endingWar on Terror,” and there wasn’t much hullabaloo about it (unless one of those nasty Republicans happened to be in office). But one recent fiasco displays that we are growing more impotent by the day. After we sent up one of our thirty-year old political operatives to stick taxpayers with the bill for universal sexual accessories, there seemed to be a media firestorm playing right into our hands. Media Matters was ready for months in advance with a “War on Women” campaign tailor-made to permanently silence right-wing radio blowhard Rush Limbaugh. But far from accomplishing our mission to “hush Rush,” we spiked his ratings.

We doubled down on failure when we claimed the GOP initiated the”War on Women,” which centered on its evil plans to deprive teen girls of an endless supply of condoms, douches, and abortifacients. On top of that, one of our DNC mouthpieces dropped the ball and called out MS-stricken cancer survivor Ann Romney as a stay-at-home mommy who “never worked a day in her life“! The right-wing went nuts with an outrageous “War on Moms” meme that outraged our moronic constituency with the notion that maybe there was some hypocrisy in the Democrat Party. Perish the thought that some of them might wake up and realize we leftist intellectuals are using them!

Even worse, after the Obama re-election team (including national mommy Michelle) threw Hilary Rosen under the bus and backed up a few times, state-approved sycophant Bill Maher was still laying into Ann Romney, jeopardizing our dear leader’s edge among women. Talk about morons! Here we have a New Right determined to expose our paid pipers, and Maher keeps making over-the-top attacks on women that prove the right’s point that the “War on Women” was merely a charade all along.

In order to combat the nefarious scourge of contradictory information, the Obama campaign rightly took a page out of the East German playbook and set up websites where neighbors, family, and friends could snitch on one another for unfriendly political agitation. First, there was FLAG, where we encouraged morons to rat each other out for saying anything untoward about our president’s wonderful Obamacare plan. But little did we know that smart-asses on the New Right would send a flurry of responses like, “Saw a grandma complain about $500 billion being slashed from Medicare at the Rite Aid on 25th and Main St.” And so forth. We had to shut it down.

The most infamous of the snitch sites, however, was Attack Watch. Set up with the noble intention of allowing citizens to notify authorities whenever anyone would dare denigrate dear leader, it was promptly ridiculed by the hooligans at Misfit Politics and mocked mercilessly on the Twitter hash #attackwatch. One author even had the temerity to parody it with a ridiculous blog article “Snack Watch.” He has been duly reported to DHS’ absurdity division.

But whence we once thought Attack Watch was an anomaly, it appears the snow (or more appropriately, the Scheiss) is starting to roll downhill. The Truth Team was supposed to pick up the torch for the fallen Attack Watch, but was subsequently blasted by the New Media.

We even devised an innocuous Twitter meme #whatsromneyhiding, but this hash was soon taken over by the right with sarcastic posts of birth certificates, selective services records, and college transcripts. Just the other night, the rightblogger fools had the nerve to make an #ObamaBookTitles hash, where they posted nasty, racist titles like “Fear and Loathing n’ Lost Wages” and “Lord of the Lies.” The only thing our moronic banner wavers could do was make up even more racist titles and futilely decry conservatives for blaming everything on Obama.

This is where our agenda to dumb down Americans through government-financed and union-run schools in order to keep people forever voting Democrat sets us up to fail. Ignorance, idiocy, and faux-educated lunacy don’t play too well in New Media for very long. Indeed, a recent study shows that conservatives understand liberal positions much better than vice versa, leading to endless hilarity for the other side and a possible refutation of the meme that right-wingers are closed-minded authoritarian types. Needless to say, some of our most fidelious morons have been exposed to the uncomfortable recognition of their cognitive dissonance and PTSD counselors have been rushed in to maintain the integrity of their worldviews.

While once the New Right appeared bashful to speak up, due to our ubiquitous environ of political correctness, they currently seem more than willing to push back on Facebook and Twitter, and there are signs that the left’s hegemony over the culture is crumbling. Old Media are dying. People are turning more to the Internet for news and information, meaning citizens may be exposed to undesirable sources like Breitbart.com, Drudge Report, and Conservative Daily News. They can fact check our propaganda (and not always at state-approved sources like FactCheck.org and Politifact!).

If this insane drive on the right to brainwash people keeps up, we will be in danger of losing the vital moron constituency that keeps us in business. This distasteful situation could prove disastrous for our ability to game the political system for the benefit of our cronies. We have been running an Old Media propaganda model in a New Media world, and it might be necessary to impose some… standards of decency and “fair speech” to prevent some of our most vulnerable morons from leaving the big government Democrat fold.

After all, an informed moron is a dangerous moron.

Wake Up and Smell the Rosen

Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen is proving to be a thorn in the side of the manufactured “War on Women” campaign.  After making the comment that presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s wife “hasn’t worked a day in her life,” social media sites and cable news pundits have erupted in criticism.

How could an advocate for the democratic party, a Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender activist, mother of twins with her former partner Elizabeth Birch, and managing director at SKDKnickerbocker (a PR firm started by former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn) be so insensitive to women?  Her bio at SKDKnick.com even touts her expertise in strategic communications.  She is a former editor at the Huffington Post. And as Michelle Malkin points out, Rosen is no stranger to White House public relations schemes.  In fact, Rosen has visited the White House at least 35 times since President Obama took office.  According to White House visitor logs, Rosen has had numerous meetings with press staff, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, FLOTUS BFF and top advisor to the president Valerie Jarrett and at least 5 meetings with the president himself.

She MUST have known the “Republicans hate women” media diversion strategy.

Within hours of the statement airing on CNN, David Axelrod, Obama campaign PR guru, publicly denounced Rosen’s comments. Jim Messina took out his contempt for Rosen’s statement on Twitter.  A Huffington Post blog suggests Rosen should do more than apologize and donate to MS Foundation. Even First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted about it saying, “Every mother works hard and every women deserves to be respected.”

The almost immediate response from the White House and other leftwing talking heads seems to indicate strategy versus reaction.

An interesting string of events.

In the months before a Georgetown law student gave fake testimony in a fake hearing about her friends attending a law school that costs tens of thousands of dollars per year having trouble affording contraception, President Obama’s poll numbers among women were down significantly from 2008.

In keeping with the “Republicans hate women” campaign, SKDKnickerbocker (yes the same Anita Dunn PR firm mentioned earlier) trotted out their client, Sandra Fluke, with her sob story of too much sex/not enough free condoms.  This was on the heels of the Obama administration’s attack on the Catholic Church and that horribly obvious orchestrated debate question from former Clinton senior political advisor George Stephanopolous about contraception at the Hew Hampshire GOP debate.

President Obama has been working feverishly to regain favor with the 20% of female voters that have moved to the “disapprove” column in recent Gallup polls.  The president publicly supported Ms. Fluke and gave her a personal phone call. He attempted to force religious institutions to provide birth control and abortions via the Health Care Reform policy and weighed in on Augusta National’s policy on women even though he wasn’t asked.  But none of the campaign’s efforts seem to be working.  As of April 12, Obama’s approval rating among women is still less than 50%.

Enter Hilary Rosen.

As Obama’s poll numbers continue to slip among female voters, perhaps it was time for a new scapegoat to get the campaign out of this messy “war on women” business.  Rosen has since apologized to Ann Romney, mother of 5 suffering with Multiple Sclerosis and cancer survivor, but not before the White House, campaign strategists and the First Lady had a chance to publicly denounce Rosen.

It was Anita Dunn who once said the campaign “controlled” the news media and only let them hear what the campaign wanted them to play on their news programs.  We’ll have to see if the latest PR stunt provides the approval ratings for which they are hoping.

Thank You Hilary Rosen

This morning I was telling my husband about Hilary Rosen’s interview on CNN.  I read her comments to him. And we discussed that, maybe, her remarks were overblown.

“With respect to economic issues, I think actually that Mitt Romney is right that ultimately women care more about the economic well-being of their family and the like. But he doesn’t connect on that issue, either. What you have is Mitt Romney running around the country saying well, you know, my wife tells me that what women really care about are economic issues, and when I listen to my wife, that’s what I’m hearing. Guess what? His wife has actually never worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school, and why we worry about their future.”

Then we caught the interview on television. See for yourself. CNN with Hilary Rosen

I am sure what Ms. Rosen meant to say, in her sarcastic tone, was that being married to a rich man Ann Romney could not understand the issues faced by many women trying to balance a day to day budget and thus could not share this information with her husband. Yet, that is not what she said. The condescending tone with which Ms. Rosen spoke took some comments that may have been misspoken and turned it into a true ‘war on women’. Though Rosen later tried to explain herself on HuffPo she clearly hit a nerve.  My Twitter timeline exploded with tweets from women, who may have been lukewarm to Mitt but have joined in their support of Ann.

In Rosen’s clarification post she mentions the “wonderful luxury to have the choice” and that it’s a choice not many women have. No doubt there are many who do not have the option to stay home and raise children. But I would invite Ms. Rosen to meet some of my friends. For many it is a financial sacrifice to stay home…but an important choice they make.

As one of the five million stay at home moms I take offense with the idea that women may not understand the ins and outs of budgets and economy.  The decision for me to stop working and raise my children was not made lightly. The loss of my salary impacted and changed many of our activities. Managing a household budget, whether a millionaire or a ‘thousandaire’, requires attention, not only to the household needs, but to community and environment around us.  While my husband and I work as a team raising our family, managing our assets he does regularly defer to me on financial questions because, yes, I pay the bills and know the day-to-day income and outgo.

It is an insult to insinuate that stay-at-home moms still live in the 1950’s where the ‘husband’ takes care of all the finances. A wealthy woman who does not pay attention to the household expense sheet may find herself in the same position as the celebrity or athlete who allows someone else to misuse his funds.

It is no surprise that Team Obama is distancing itself from Ms. Rosen. The true war on women may be coming from a liberal mindset that does not value traditional choices real women make.  There are those who do not believe a ‘non-working’ woman can and is able to provide a good assessment of current economic conditions. So, thank you Hilary Rosen. Your brief comments may have galvanized the conservative base more effectively than anything Mitt Romney could have said.

A Lesson For Liberals To Learn

By now, you may have heard about the Left’s latest attack on women.  The short story is that a Democrat strategist said Ann Romney has “never worked a day in her life”, despite the fact that she beat cancer and raised 5 children.  It’s gotten so bad that even David Axelrod has distanced himself from what she said.

The strategist in question is Hilary Rosen, and she wasted little time in backtracking her statement.  Here it is from CNN.com.  One thing she said that stuck out to me was this:

Spare me the faux anger from the right who view the issue of women’s rights and advancement as a way to score political points. When it comes to supporting policies that would actually help women, their silence has been deafening. I don’t need lectures from the RNC on supporting women and fighting to increase opportunities for women; I’ve been doing it my whole career.

Here’s what I think Hilary doesn’t realize:  The anger she faced on Twitter and in email last night was not from the “RNC”.  It was from normal, hard working Americans who, themselves, don’t have much good to say about the RNC.  Liberals don’t seem to realize that just because people vote against progressive policies, it doesn’t mean that they’re in agreement with the Republican Elites.  (or whatever you’d like to call the RNC)

I think Liberals (and even Republicans) would do well to realize that the political landscape is changing, and what she was dealing with last night was Americans, not just some arm of a political party.

Thanks to Twitter, Facebook, and various other tools on the Internet, you have people participating in political discussions who used to be part of the “silent majority”.  Hilary Rosen is fooling herself, if she thinks that she only risks the ire of the Republican National Committee.

From a Woman on the “Women’s Economy”

Dear Mr. President:

You held a Forum on Women and the Economy today at the White House, I guess to talk about the women’s economy or something. This forum was just wrong on so many levels. You said that women are not “a special interest group”, but then you host a special interest forum for women..on Good Friday at that, the start of one of the holiest seasons for both Christians and Jews (many of whom are women, by the way).

What bothers me is how you spoke of a “women’s economy”, as if the economy of a woman were somehow separate from the regular economy as a whole. The real “war on women” isn’t about birth control or aborting babies; it’s not coming from Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum or anyone else on the right. The real war on women is coming stratight from the White House, led enthusiastically by you, Mr. President. You separate us as if we have some secret relationship to the economy that men don’t have. It’s a political ploy, a campaign strategy and frankly I think it’s a big, fat fail.

You see, I’m a stay at home mom. My economy is no different from my husband’s economy; and in case you weren’t sure, my husband is a man. How is it that these two completely different genders could share the same economic concerns, you ask? Well, no need to organize a forum on the issue. I’ll tell you. In my home, my husband makes the money, but I also contribute to the economic health of our family by providing child care and making decisions on how to spend our income. While we sometimes have different ideas about what to do with our ever-dwindling paycheck (I like shoes, he prefers paying the mortgage), we both are intimately involved with how far our dollar stretches. The failing economy affects us both and that has nothing to do with our chromosomes. You see, my husband likes to eat food. So do I! He likes having gas in the car to go places. So do I! He hates having to ration our milk budget because inflation and gas are causing prices to rise exponentially. So do I! He hates not being able to afford all the fun things with our kids that we used to do – like taking vacations and frequent movie dates. I hate it too! He hates having to make decisions between shoes for the kids and a tank of gas, or little league for our son and a date night with his beautiful, intelligent, amazing and gracious wife whom he is so lucky to have. I hate it too! He hates having to leave his family without a vehicle everyday when he drives to work because we are down to one car, unable to fix the other or afford to take on a car payment. SO..DO…I! He hates that we had to drain our children’s college fund in order to stay afloat. So do I. We really hate that part. We really, really hate it.

Mr.President, my husband and I both hate this economy ; your economy, sir. When we are struggling to figure out how to pay our taxes and the gas bill at the same, we are not separating those worries by gender. In fact, our gender never even comes up. Our children, our family, our future – all those things come up, but never our gender. In the end, the economy has nothing to do with breasts and testicles. It has to do with the people responsible for the economic direction of America making selfish, ill-informed and ridiculous choices that have done all but derail what was once the most robust, thriving economy on earth.

Instead of working to secure our nation’s energy future, you ordered offshore drilling suspended and practically brought the economy of the Gulf region to a grinding halt. You reduced Wall Street confidence in our ability to produce or procure oil (which, despite your algae pipe dreams is still what we use to get around these days), driving up the price of gas to unheard of levels. You shoved a 2,000 page “healthcare” boondoggle down the throats of the American people that necessarily gutted Medicare and raised the cost of my family’s insurance premiums (insurance that we were HAPPY with, by the way) by nearly 190% in just one year. Your adminstration touts 8.2% unemployment as if it were some kind of victory, while expecting Americans to be ignorant of the government math that doesn’t even include those who have given up looking for work altogether.

Mr.President, the last thing you need to be doing is having special interest forums to discuss the “women’s economy”. There is no “women’s” economy. There is THE economy…and THE economy sucks right now. Address that and stop playing politics while claiming not to be . It’s petty and infuriating to people like me who are slowly watching all the dreams and hopes they had for their own children fade away into the bottomless pit of government.

Indeed we are not a “special interest group”, so stop treating us that way. Stop trying to make us into people who are somehow detached from the day-to-day consequences of your horrific administration.
