It is an easy claim that the Tsarnaev brothers were the most vile and inhumane criminals we have seen in some time. Although, not killing nearly as many innocent people as the gutless cowards of 9/11/2001, the Tsarnaevs’ methods were much, much more personal. It is very doubtful that any of the 9/11 terrorists knew any of their 3,000 victims, beyond sitting down beside them on a plane that day, and the victims were a part of a group – victim to both terror, and the randomness of a terribly, macabre, draw. The Boston Marathon bombers carefully chose their spots and their victims, including an innocent 8-year old boy and his family.

The greatest reactions were of the people – who immediately after the tragedy, where seen treating the injured, giving solace to victims in shock, and transporting casualties blocks to the nearest ambulances. When the government ordered people to stay inside, and yet, help with the manhunt, by reporting anything that they saw – it was then that the people came through with the most important tip of the manhunt. The hull of a small boat was the location of Djhokhar’s last free breaths.

Nearly as disgusting as the Tsarnaevs themselves, was the media. Constantly jumping from one allegation or anonymous leak to another, they cannot have helped in the hunt for Dzhokhar. They were also slow to report, perhaps getting nervous when an embarrassed CNN reported incorrect information, and had to apologize. Various members of the press, whether officially representing their employers or not, showed incredible amounts of racism and bigotry. People like Salon’s David Sirota hoped for the bombers to be white Americans. People like MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry denied Islam had any connections with the violent acts. Indeed, in their hurry to receive air time and acclaim, the media personalities doubled down on political correctness, and did not seem to double-check at all.

Government played both two roles in the Boston tragedy: it was both heroic capturing force, who marshaled so many resources to catch mysterious terrorists, and heavy-handed ogre, telling people to stay inside their homes, when no one seemed sure where the terrorist was. For sure, the lasso thrown around Boston seemed to tighten the senses of fear and anxiety, in both the innocent citizenry, and the police force responsible for an extraordinary task: finding suspects who had already killed one officer, and had exchanged fire with them. The police did get their man, but the so many tense moments had a high cost to everyone involved.

Perhaps the most important take-away here is that government showed itself, again, as a mechanism of re-activity  not pro-activity. Despite government’s regulations, and recent increased calls for gun control, the Tsarnaevs scoffed at those past laws and regulations, and procured and used weapons against police. The government assures us, passing new legislation will be different – the future terrorists and criminals will follow these new rules.

Will anything change? Will the media report more slowly, and more carefully? Will the citizenry be more willing to report suspicious people? I hope. The images of an innocent, naked man face-down in the street,massed, flashing red and blue lights,  bloody sidewalks, and police with determined, clinched jaws should not soon be forgotten.

And, Obama plans to unveil his gun violence proposals at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday (January 16, 2013) at the White House.  [again, emphasis mine]   Obama’s proposals include 19 (count ‘em, 19) executive orders (EO) that Vice President “One Heartbeat Away From Being President” Joe Biden has recommended. All EOs focus upon gun control.

I was in the Army for 22 years. I have been around guns of all types (pistols, rifles, shotguns, even [gasp!] M-16 assault rifles with [double gasp!] 20-round magazines) all of my life. I taught my daughters and son to shoot a shotgun when they were safely (IMHO) able to hold it. Never once did any gun, of its own accord, act violently. And, I have never seen or heard from the (always unbiased) MSM of any gun, of its own accord, acting violently. So, I must conclude that both Obama and Biden have chosen a target that cannot speak for itself or defend itself. Yet, through a lap-dog MSM, Obama will announce his plans to curb (non-existent) gun violence through gun control. The real issue, though Obama and Biden will be loathe to admit it, is control.

True, the shooting in Newtown, CT, were tragic. But why not place the blame where it belongs: Adam Lanza? Lanza, not the guns, was violent. The gun(s) Lanza used did not act of their own accord. The gun(s) Lanza used cannot speak for themselves. But you can bet that Lanza has secured a loud mouth lawyer who will advise Lanza to plead “temporary insanity” and hit the cable TV “news” circuit. And that is what Obama, Biden, and the MSM will play up.

But preventing violence is simply not on Obama’s or Biden’s agenda. They have chosen a target to demagogue that cannot speak for itself, cannot protest the daily violence perpetrated against them. Did you know that there are an estimated 3,562 abortions each day? That is equivalent to 178 Newtown shootings each day. Abortions are certainly violent, especially to the fetus being murdered, I mean legally aborted.

Prevent gun violence? Obama’s way to prevent it is to control guns. Prevent violence? No way.

Yet there has been no outcry in China for more cutlery control and CNN International has not been broadcasting remote from outside the Henckels’ knife factory. In fact there has been scant coverage of the Chinese attack.

The obscure, knife–wielding Chinaman proves it’s not a weapon problem — it’s a maniac problem. For where there’s a maniacal will, there’s a maniacal way.

So in the wake of Newtown, I’ll endorse the first politician who designates schools as “maniac–free zones.” You may scoff, but this law will be just as effective as “gun–free zones” and has the added advantage of directly addressing the cause of the problem.

Banning “assault weapons” is a knee–jerk response from ideological jerks. It’s like treating a drunk for difficulties with his equilibrium, rather than talking about alcohol. What’s more, “assault weapons” have been banned in Connecticut since 1993 and a fat lot of good it did at Sandy Hook Elementary. The Bushmaster rifle used there was registered and legal. The only measurable effect discussions of an “assault weapon” ban have is increased gun and ammunition sales.

Another liberal bright idea is establishing a bag limit for mass shootings like we currently have for ducks. Duck hunters are often limited in the number of shells their shotgun magazine can hold. This encourages hunters to obey the law specifying the maximum number of ducks one is allowed to shoot.

The same logic applies to the limit on “high capacity magazines.” Unfortunately, limiting magazine size just means the shooter needs bigger pockets. Many semi–automatic pistols thoughtfully let you know when the magazine is empty by locking the slide back. One simply has to drop the empty and slap a full one in — a process taking under two seconds. Besides, I am unaware of any spree killing that ended prematurely because the gunman ran out of ammunition.

In 2011 there were 32,367 automobile deaths — more than three times the number of firearms murders. Based on gun control logic, we should also ban automobiles that look like racecars, because sleek design encourages drivers to go too fast.

No one bothers to ask why we have a rash of these mass killings now and not in the 60’s when there were no background checks and you could buy a handgun through the mail. As anti–gun legislation has become more pervasive so have spree killings.

An early WaPost article said the motivation for the murders remains a “mystery.” Maybe it’s a “mystery” for liberals, but not for those with common sense. If you’re a disaffected, disturbed loser, who wants the nation to feel his pain, you follow the template written by media vultures and go to the nearest sitting duck zone and start shooting.

The same saturation coverage that validates dollar store teddy bear memorials, validates the violence that inspires misguided bystanders to leave a mylar balloon as close to the bloodstains as the yellow police tape will allow.

An inconvenient element young spree killers have in common is violent, sadistic video games. Only a few years ago video game makers usually had a “gore filter” that a player could engage if he didn’t want to wallow in video dismemberment. Now popular and violent games have no way to turn down the violence or the language.

The only restraint the video game industry displays is a reluctance to design a “Columbine Shootout” game with a “Virginia Tech” add–on.

Bans on guns and magazine size are displacement activity. The Newtown shooter did not want for anything materially, but he was empty inside. These secular, suicide terrorists turn their video game room into a personal murder madrassah.

Liberals say censorship or even societal disapproval of violent video games is unnecessary because the vast majority of players simply use the games for fun and companionship — a justification that equally accurate when applied to the “assault weapon” owning community.

At its base this is a mental health problem and requires a mental health solution. Liberals aren’t afraid of crazy people, as long as they are confined to Occupy camps, but they are afraid of guns. In the 80’s liberals tried to ban the sale of cheap “Saturday night specials.” Now it’s expensive “assault weapons.” This demonization of guns transforms firearms into symbols of power, which only serves to attract the mentally unstable.

We live in a society where it’s now popular to take personal responsibility for carbonating your own beverages, but liberals demonize conservatives who wish to take responsibility for their own defense. If Mrs. Lanza had locked her guns away from her disturbed son, Newtown doesn’t happen.

All the liberals and all their laws can’t force people to exercise common sense.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s opinion on gun control is conflicted as he tries to make sense of the tragedy in Newtown, CT.

Interviewed by the local CBS affiliate here in St. Paul, Dayton said there is nothing really he can do about gun laws in the state, commenting that it is more of a federal issue, (despite the fact that carry conceal laws absolutely are a matter for individual state legislatures).

“At this point, I don’t think we have an option under the 2nd amendment to do what some people are advocating,” said Dayton.

In the interview, Dayton responded to the question of arming teachers, which he believes is a bad idea and would further endanger students. He didn’t elaborate as to how gun free zones like schools could be any more vulnerable than they already are.

“I think that would increase the danger. To have weapons in classrooms, to me, just defies common sense,” said Dayton.

I believe that Dayton absolutely would support an assault gun ban if he could, if Minnesotans were not so pro-gun and self defense. The state has a strong carry conceal law, with requirements for gun owners to attend a safety class in order to carry. Long guns considered to be assault weapons require one of these special carry permits in order to be purchased. Minnesota is a shall-issue state, requiring county sheriffs to issue a permit after a proper background check, withholding such a permit only if there is just cause to do so, a wise stipulation in my view. May-issue states are more problematic and give local sheriffs much more leeway in determining who can carry a gun in his county.

Earlier this year, Dayton vetoed legislation aimed at strengthening the state’s castle law, giving residents more freedom to defend themselves with guns when threatened. The Governor sited opposition from law enforcement chiefs and said Minnesotans already have self defense rights.

If it wasn’t for strong NRA influence in Minnesota, bottom line, Dayton would ask for a gun ban on assault weapons. It is his knee-jerk, feel good liberal reaction to the shootings around the country, especially this latest in Newtown. But gun and ammo bans won’t solve the problem of gun violence, or any violence at all. I live in a town where in my youth, a teenager just a little older than me slaughtered his whole family while they slept, using a lumberjack ax to commit the crime.

The Liberal worldview blames inanimate objects for crime, not blaming society or the individual for participating in crime. That’s a shame. We’ve banished God or a higher power from our society and have the audacity to ask, “Where is God?” when crises hit. My view, I’ll continue to hold fast to my religion and my guns and I won’t be relying solely on the government for my protection.

Author’s note: Governor Dayton appropriately remembered the victims of the Newtown Tragedy by ordering all American Flags in front of State buildings to be brought to half staff. Kudos for that Mr. Dayton.

Secular-humanism – that’s the ticket! We need more reliance on man and less on God.

At the time of this writing, I’m sitting just a few miles from a Century 16 theatre in Aurora, Colo., where, in the early morning hours of July 20, 2012, a deranged, fame-starved gunman shot dead at least 12 innocent people and wounded scores more at a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises,” a Batman sequel.

One of the victims killed was a 3-month-old baby. Another was 6. I won’t even share the gutless dirt bag’s name because that’s exactly what he wants.

I had an entirely different column prepared for this week, but, in light of this horrific event, its subject matter seemed trivial and inappropriate.

Like most decent Americans, I am sickened today – mournful in a way words cannot describe. Please join me in the coming hours, days and weeks in, yes, praying for the victims, their families and the state of our lost union.

It’s times like this when we’re reminded that, when the smoke clears, we’re left with our relationships alone: family, friends, prayer and, most importantly, a deep, childlike need for God’s love, mercy and comfort.

Still, we shouldn’t be surprised by this mass murder. In fact, if we’re honest, we’re not surprised. We’ve become almost numb to such reports – desensitized to what only a few short decades ago would have been unimaginable. Although no one is to blame for this man’s objectively evil actions but he alone, those actions are, sadly, a dreadful sign of our desperate times.

Today, children are reared in a culture that glorifies – even worships – death and violence. But brutal crimes such as this are not the cause of our culture of death; they are merely a symptom.

In an opinion piece penned for the Telegraph in 2008, columnist Jenny McCartney used a prior Batman movie, “The Dark Knight,” to illustrate, in a cursory way, our rising death-culture problem. In many ways her words were eerily prophetic and sickly ironic.

“But the greatest surprise of all – even for me, after eight years spent working as a film critic,” she wrote, “has been the sustained level of intensely sadistic brutality throughout the film.”

McCartney went on to describe, in gory detail, the movie’s severely violent opening scene, lamenting that millions of parents would choose to expose their children to it. She concluded by chastising Hollywood for its complicity in an increasingly violent youth culture.

“Even since 2002, the public’s willingness to expose children to previously unthinkable levels of screen violence has soared,” she noted. “The poet WB Yeats once wrote, ‘In dreams begins responsibility,’ yet Hollywood will never take responsibility for its most brutal dreams so long as the paying public still flocks to the theatre of cruelty.”

I think McCartney was on to something but believe there’s plenty more responsibility to go around. I submit that our culture of death derives from somewhere far beyond just Hollywood. The “theatre of cruelty” spans from sea to shining sea.

Just one example, though a big one, is America’s ongoing capitulation to the horrific abortion violence carried out under cover of manmade law each day – an equally evil phenomenon.

Beneath the euphemistic banner of “reproductive choice,” hundreds of women elect to have their own babies slaughtered in the womb daily. Children – those who dodged the abortion bullet anyway – aren’t stupid; they’re just young. From this, they can only deduce that, according to our culture, human life is cheap and meaningless.

So why are we surprised when people like the “Batman killer” act accordingly?

Indeed, in our perverse society, a woman exercising her “right to choose” death for her innocent child represents “courage,” while the Batman shooter’s “choice” to kill innocent moviegoers represents cowardice. And it is. They are both acts of cowardice. The only relevant difference is the victims’ age.

Let me be clear: Am I comparing this incredibly wicked, illegal mass murder at Aurora’s Century Theatre to the incredibly wicked, legal mass murder committed at Planned Parenthoods across the country each day? Absolutely – and you can quote me on it.

But again, like the Batman murders, our nation’s 55-plus million abortion murders post Roe v. Wade are not the cause of our culture of death; they are merely a symptom. Ultimately, the cause stems from something much less complicated.

We as a nation – as a people – have turned our backs on God. We have rebelled against Him and have forgotten that it was He and He alone who gave us 200-plus years of prosperity, unprecedented in world history.

We have left Him, so why are we surprised He’s leaving us? We have said, “We don’t need you, leave us alone.”

And so He has.

Recently, Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack acknowledged at a White House briefing that he’s been praying for rain to alleviate the widespread drought plaguing our nation. “I get on my knees every day,” he admitted. “And I’m saying an extra prayer now.”

Predictably, godless “progressives” are up in arms over his statement. Tom Flynn, executive director of the Council for Secular Humanism, quickly pounced, saying that Vilsack’s mere mention of prayer “sends the wrong message to distraught farmers.”

“[Praying] for rain? That’s not just government entangling itself with religion, that’s government publicly practicing it, and wallowing in superstition,” he said.

Oh, please.

In the coming days and weeks, politicians, entertainers, media-types – public figures of every stripe – will call for prayer in response to the Batman shootings. But don’t expect to hear much from the aforementioned godless “progressives.” They generally know when to shut up.

Still, prayer is only the beginning. It can’t just be superficial prayer. It can’t just be an emotional response to this horrible tragedy.

For any real national healing to occur – in order to un-ring the culture-of-death bell – we must collectively surrender. We must recommit ourselves as “one nation, under God,” to the underlying culture of life that such a commitment presupposes.

If we don’t, we’re done.

2 Chronicles 7:14 gives us hope: “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

Indeed, the restoration of our land begins with you and me.

It ends with Him.

It was a horrific scene as a grisly wave of bombs swept through Baghdad on Thursday. This comes just days after the last U.S. soldiers left the country. BBC reported:

At least 68 people were killed and nearly 200 injured as car and roadside bombs went off in 16 separate locations, mostly Shia areas of the city.

The first 13 bombs hit as people were going to work in the morning – they were followed by other blasts throughout the day.

Officials said schools and kindergartens had been among the targets.

Associated Press reports:

The deadliest attack was in the Karrada neighborhood, where a suicide bomber driving an explosives-laden vehicle blew himself up outside a government office. Two police officers at the scene said the bomber was driving an ambulance and told guards that he needed to get to a nearby hospital. After the guards let him through, he drove to the building and blew himself up, the officers said.

“I was sleeping in my bed when the explosion happened,” said 12-year-old Hussain Abbas, standing in his pajamas. “I jumped from my bed and rushed to my mom’s lap. I told her I did not want to go to school today. I’m terrified.”

Although not confirmed, analyst believe the attacks where carried out by the mainly Sunni Al-Qaeda in Iraq, because of the level of co-ordination and planning behind the attacks.

Ramzy Mardini from the Institute for the Study of War in Washington said “The conditions that perpetuate civil wars are making a hasty comeback”.

The attacks have thrown Iraq’s political community into a crisis. Sunnis are now suspicious that al-Maliki, in the wake of the American military leaving,  is attempting to make a power grab.

Washington condemned the attacks, with White House Press Secretary Jay Carney saying any attempts to derail progress in Iraq will fail, and that other than hatred and murder,  the attacks serve no purpose.

One guy in a video that I have seen several times on various television reports and internet postings speaks of what Molotov cocktails can do to a Macy’s store. I have seen and heard others taunting the police, trying their best to start a riot. In Oakland, they actually destroyed buildings and set fires in the streets, much like what we have seen in Great Britain, Greece, Spain, and other European countries.

I hear Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and a host of other Democrat politicians come out in support of what these “occupy” people are doing. I see and hear Hollywood types, Michael Moore for one, and media people praise the “occupiers” for their “patriotism” and call them “refreshing”. Refreshing?????????? The very same people who are undoubtedly part of the “1%” being protested are out there instigating violence against others. This violence, being instigated by the ultra rich to be committed against other rich people, will not do any real damage to either set of rich people. The violence will hurt the middle income and the poor, including those who will commit these acts of violence being encouraged by ultra-rich Marxists. How will you get through this time of chaos?

Last winter, Oklahoma was hit by the worst snow storm in a decade or longer. We saw 23” of snow over about a 48 hour period. The roads had not yet been cleared when we got hit with another 12” or more a week later. Grocery stores depend on daily shipments of food staples like, bread, meats, milk, eggs, and other items to sustain their stocks. It took less than 12 hours to strip the local Wal-Mart Super Center of every loaf of bread, every package of buns, all of the milk, all of the meat, all of the eggs, and just about everything else people buy on a regular basis. The local Reasor’s and Warehouse Market grocery stores were likewise stripped of any goods in a very short time.

My wife and I are old hands at this, so we stocked up a few days early just in case the weather man was correct in his forecast. It was actually a bit worse than predicted, so many people did not have sufficient supplies to hold them over. We had extra people at our house due to a domestic issue, so we planned on feeding 4 extra mouths. The one opportunity we had between the storms to get out to restock found us coming home with not  very much. If we had not prepared for the first storm, we would have been hard pressed to have enough food to eat through either storm.

The end result was a little more than 2 weeks of being pretty much snow-bound, but we had enough food to feed those in our house because we had prepared. We had also filled up our vehicles with gasoline in case we lost electricity and needed the vehicles to keep warm. We also had extra gas and a generator for backup. We were prepared to take care of ourselves and extra family members. We have 3 daughters and 10 grandchildren living in the same town with us. We were prepared to feed and house all of them if necessary.
America is fast approaching a time of hardship such as few living citizens have seen. Anarchy is going to break out, likely sooner than later. The political conventions next summer are going to be targeted by those who seek to destroy America, probably leading to massive riots and government crackdowns that will be much worse than the anti-war problems of the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Those intent on causing this unrest are not making any secret of their intentions and it is unfortunate that so many will join in to help destroy the very way of life they enjoy. Useful idiots seem to be a dime a dozen in every country in the free world. I say free world because those living under dictatorships have no freedom to carry out such protests.

There are people actively plotting the overthrow of our system of government by using the riots, under the false auspices of righteous indignation, to usher in martial law and the suspension of the Constitution and Congress. Unfortunately, many of those plotters are our very own elected government officials. Some Democrats have already called for the suspension of the Constitution to allow Barack Obama to “do what he needs to do”. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is but one of those calling for Obama to be granted dictatorial powers. Those seeking this power will attempt to use riots at the conventions to gain the control they need to destroy our very way of life.

When, and I say when not if on purpose, this happens the difference in how you get through it will be in how you prepare for it. People who dismiss my warnings will find themselves in dire straits when the time comes. When we were shopping between the storms we saw people in panic mode because they could not find what they needed on the shelves and didn’t have food at home. We had food at home, but were attempting to refurbish what we could in case the next storm lasted as long. As it turned out, except for the one day, we were snowbound for about 2 1/2 weeks, but had plenty of food to get us through, even with the extra mouths to feed.

When civilized society breaks down there will be several issues to deal with. Not only will delivery of supplies to stores and gas stations be interrupted, there will be many places where even venturing out of your home might be a life threatening ordeal. We have already seen, many times, what those who espouse anarchy are willing to do to accomplish their destruction. Look at what is happening in Europe and know it will happen here. A few years ago the United States hosted one of the G-8 or G-20 (I don’t remember which one it was) summits in Pittsburgh. Rioters nearly destroyed the downtown area. Thankfully it didn’t spread to the rest of the nation but the “occupy” movement shows us that we are not going to be so fortunate the next time around.

The people who are protesting legitimate issues now have been overtaken by those intent on the destruction of our way of life. Tulsa, Oklahoma is a prime example of what is happening. People came out to protest the improper and illegal foreclosures of houses. They set up in front of the banks that were under investigation for the activities that resulted from the housing bubble bust. In no time they were overwhelmed by people who came from Oklahoma City and other places with the intent of being arrested and causing as much chaos as possible. Those who were there to peacefully participate in a lawful protest soon found themselves pleading with the outsiders to leave and allow them to get their message out. Those intent on anarchy would have none of it and were determined to cause as many problems as possible. Guess who received all of the media coverage.

The point of this is to prepare for the worst and pray for the best. Families and neighbors can band together to help each other. The only way for our nation to survive is for us to help each other. You need food, water, toilet paper, and all of the other items you use every day. In our normal day to day living, it is easy to take the availability of grocery stores, and their goods, for granted. As sad as it is to say, also prepare to defend what you have. While it is good to share what you have, there are those who are willing to use force to take everything you have, not just what they need. You only have to look at the “occupy” people to see the lengths they will go to. Don’t take anything for granted, it may be a very bad decision.

Americans are resilient people and we can survive the coming problems. Those who prepare will get by just fine. Those who stick their heads in the sand and go with the “it can’t happen here” idea are in for a rude awakening. Pray for the best for our nation, but prepare for the worst.

If I understand this correctly, these intruders come onto private property, violate the very laws designed to keep the area safe, refuse to abide by any rule, waste the time of police officers who have real crime and traffic issues to take care of, take up cell space needed for dangerous criminals, and the city council’s answer is to abolish the rules. The Tulsa city council, it seems, may be going to say “oh well, rules are made to be broken”, and look the other way once again.  Isn’t that the very attitude that got us into this situation in the first place?

The contrast to the TEA Party events couldn’t be more stark.  I remember seeing the Glenn Beck 8-28 event on television and internet.  I remember the Washington Mall packed to the gills with people, estimated to be anywhere from the 500 or so reported in the main stream media to the 800,000 estimated by more accurate sources.  How many arrests?  Uh, NONE.  How many sexual assaults?  Uh, none again.  How many robberies?  Correct you are, NONE.  And litter, could you see any litter in any picture or video?  None visible to these eyes, and I looked hard.

Now compare that to what is going on with the “occupy” movement around the country.  The behavior of these people is atrocious at best.  They seem to think the world should bow at their feet while they try to destroy the very system that makes their miserable protests possible.  Do they salute the flag?  No they defecate on it, they walk on it, they burn it.  They steal laptops, cell phones, even a guy’s tent.  Drug sale and use, and sexual activity are right out there for everyone to see.  Women are groped and raped.  And what is the solution to this sexual attack issue?  They hurl epithets at him and run the guy off with a flashlight shining in his face.  Notice the sign in the picture above.  Have any of the TEA Party events needed a “women’s safe space”?

These “occupy” people overturn vehicles, set fires, and smash windows- just any window, regardless of whether it belongs to some poor family, barely making ends meet with their storefront business as it is.  They throw rocks, bottles, Molotov cocktails, and the like at the police, and then when one of their own gets hit by return fire, such as tear gas canisters, they go into a tizzy about police brutality.  I say hogwash.  Return fire is not brutality, it is self-defense.  And, I might add, self defense from police who put up with a lot more than they should have to put up with.

And look at what happens at the TEA Party events in Tulsa.  Several thousand people gather to sing patriotic songs, salute the banner of freedom throughout the world- The American Flag- and to enjoy making new friends.  The organizers get the required permits and pay the required fees.  Attendees are expected to obey the laws and treat people in a civilized manner, but they don’t have to be TOLD to do this, it is their nature.  TEA Party attendees are there to support the Constitution, not destroy it.  They are there to show our government that we want a different path, peacefully.  Once again, no “women’s safe space” necessary.

TEA Party attendees aren’t there to damage the very property they pay to provide.  They aren’t there to assault the police but to commune with them, to show the support of We the People for those who do their best “to protect and serve” the citizens of this nation.  TEA Party people respect the law, but work through peaceful means to change those laws and those regulations that are not in line with our Constitution. TEA Party people respect the possessions and property of others.  TEA Party attendees rally all weekend and then go back to their jobs on Monday.

And how many “OWS” protestors are there in Tulsa anyway?  Thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands? Hundreds, maybe?  Tens, even?  How many arrests?  There are those who may have valid issues, but this is not the way to solve the problems; the way the occupy crowd  is going about it is the way to destroy everything that makes solutions possible.

If the TEA Party people can meet peacefully, pay the fees, get the permits, and follow the rules, why should this bunch get treated with kid gloves?  Why should they not have to follow the same rules as the 67% of We the People who call ourselves TEA Party Patriots, those of us who peacefully change things?  They aren’t the 99%, they are the 1%.  It’s a cute slogan, but not accurate.

I guess it may be a good thing that many of the current councilors change jobs.  We cannot continue caving in to threats and/or bad behavior and expect any semblance of peace in our time.  The absence of law enforcement is anarchy.  The collapse, or in this case the abdication of, civil responsibility is inexcusable.  Any councilor willing to follow this course of action is violating the oath of office to serve in the best interests of the citizens and the city as a whole.  They will not be serving the people of Tulsa, nor will they be serving the complaints of the protestors.  Do councilors really not realize that tolerating this behavior only invites more of the same?

The spending in Washington that has been going on for decades is at the root of the problem.  However, the lack of clarity on how true job creation actually occurs – which is not by raising taxes or extending unemployment benefits as suggested by democrats.  The self-righteous attitudes of those on the hill, whose own self-interests seem to come first,  are just a few examples of what is at the crux of the problem. The reality is we live in a welfare society where people truly believe government entitlements are their God-given right.  These same people fail to recognize making government bigger than what it already is, is not the answer.

What is happening in Athens, London, and other parts of the world, and is beginning to happen here in the United States is just the beginning of waht happend to economys that cannot sustain government spending. The flash mobs, threats, violence, and so on that occurred in Madison, Wisconsin as well as other parts of the country, are the just beginning of what happens in a welfare society driven by people who have visons whichh are not founded in a realistic way.  The issues with Wisconsin employees are just one example of what is spreading across the nation.  These people are beginning to feel the end result of what happens to people who rely on entitlements simply because they were promised by a government whose spending well exceeds its income. This is what they were promised and this is what they truly believe they are entitled to at any cost, they don’t care.

There is a common theme that exists: even when times are rough, and government clearly cannot fulfill their expectations, and cuts are necessary, these flash mobs are proof that people demand what government has promised. Regardless if it bankrupts the state they are living in, they truly believe they are entitled to things such as pension plans they did not pay into, early retirement at age 53 or earlier, free medical benefits, welfare checks, food stamps, and the never-ending unemployment checks. The violence is just beginning. In addition, union officials are sending people to states to fight against anyone who tries to put an end to the entitlements. People are being threatened; their businesses are risk, if they don’t comply with the threats. One person in Kenosha, WI who was suppose to hold a tea party meeting was threatened and forced to hold the meeting elsewhere; scared by union goons.

What we are seeing in London is just the beginning of the end of years of government entitlements. Generations of people who have spent their entire lives living on government handouts and stimulus – the reality of government outspending always catches up; it is just a matter of time.  The people of London, for example, that time is now. The same thing is happening here and people are reacting the same way – fighting, picketing, rioting because they have a big government mentality. They believe that they have a right to the all the free stuff government has been providing.   Remember: As government keeps getting bigger people and business keep getting smaller – how do you create jobs from that? How do you like the end result? Think about that next time you go to vote or contact your congress man or woman.
