Obama: The Most Transparent President Ever

Stinks

“My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.”  This came off the White House Web-Site, nothing but a lot of B.S. isn’t it?

Secret courts, Secret emails, Phone surveillance, Drones. NSA spying, IRS targeting Conservative Groups, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Obama-Care, as a matter of fact, I cannot find one thing that Obama has done so far that falls under the term transparent. When he was sworn into office in 2009, he declared his presidency would be “the most open and transparent in history.” John McCain wrote a letter to Obama on June 17th, in it he said, “Four years ago you pledged to usher in a new era of government transparency, since then however, your administration has habitually circumvented congressional oversight.”

Katherine Meyer, a Washington lawyer who has been filing Freedom Of Information Act cases since 1978 said, “Obama is the sixth administration that’s been in office since I’ve been doing Freedom of Information Act work. It’s kind of shocking to me to say this, but of the six, this administration is the worst on FOIA issues. The worst. There’s just no question about it,” “This administration is raising one barrier after another. It’s gotten to the point where I’m stunned, I’m really stunned.”

Some open-government advocates say some administration practices are actually undercutting Obama’s goal. Among their complaints:

• Administration lawyers are aggressively fighting FOIA requests at the agency level and in court — sometimes on Obama’s direct orders. They’ve also wielded anti-transparency arguments even bolder than those asserted by the Bush administration.

• The administration has embarked on an unprecedented wave of prosecutions of whistleblowers and alleged leakers — an effort many journalists believe is aimed at blocking national security-related stories. “There just seems to be a disconnect here. You want aggressive journalism abroad; you just don’t want it in the United States,” ABC Jake Tapper told White House press secretary Jay Carney.

• In one of those cases, the Justice Department was trying to force a New York Times reporter to identify his confidential sources and is arguing that he has no legal protection from doing so.

• Compliance with agencies’ open-government plans has been spotty, with confusing and inaccurate metrics sometimes used to assess progress. Some federal agencies are also throwing up new hurdles, such as more fees, in the path of those seeking records.

• The Office of Management and Budget has stalled for more than a year the proposals of the chief FOIA  office to improve government wide FOIA operations.

Why isn’t the media doing more to bring these things front and center? Because Obama is a Democrat, and because he is a Democrat, he has gotten a pass from many of the civil liberty and good-government groups who spent years watching President Bush’s every move like a hawk.

But I have to admit Obama is very transparent to me. It is transparent that he is the worse President in my lifetime, it is transparent that even after five years in office, he still does not know what he is doing. It is also transparent he enjoys the perks of the job, but not the job, he is also not a leader, he also craps on the Constitution whenever he can. It is transparent that he is running this country into the ground, he knows nothing about running an economy and he has made a joke of America around the world with his so called Foreign Policy. It should also be transparent to the rest of the country that he is completely incompetent.

So you see in a way Obama is very transparent, at least to me anyway.

State Dept: Okay. Here’s the Real Story

Lies and Damned Lies

Ahead of the Congressional Hearing the White House has changed the story about Benghazi. Nothing to do with the video and not a spontaneous riot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it is very contradictory from the first, second, and third reports. The evidence now points toward a State Department that chose not to respond to requests from their Libyan Embassy for additional security on the eve of the September 11 anniversary. And following the tragic deaths of four American citizens the White House fabricated a tale in an effort to take focus off their errors. (Read the updated security information in Jake Tapper’s article.)

This attempt to get ahead of tremendously damaging news raises even more questions on the transparency of this administration.

One Way Transparency

White House spokesman Jay Carney dismissed Donald Trump’s position that should today’s Oval Office occupant keeps insisting Mitt Romney release his tax returns; Romney demand that barry soetoro, barrack hussein obama, or whatever his name is first make his college records public information.  Rather than address the issue at hand, the administration consciously chose to launch into an Alinsky style personal attack on Trump.  Carney called the suggestion “preposterous”, dismissing Trump as “The guy who insisted that he didn’t believe the president was born in the United States”.

Never mind that the current White House occupant signed an Executive Order hiding every last one of his personal documents from public view on his first day in office.  For “the most transparent administration in history”, transparency is meant for everyone else, not themselves.

In typical “progressive” do as I say, not as I do fashion, the White House has launched repeated attacks on the presumptive GOP presidential nominee over questions about the timing of his departure from private equity firm Bain Capital.  One re-election campaign spokeswoman suggested that Romney possibly committed a felony.  The White House and fellow “progressive” Democrats keep insisting that companies filed for bankruptcy or shipped jobs overseas under Romney’s Bain leadership and that he only wants to help fellow millionaires, not working people.  Romney has maintained he is not responsible for many of those decisions because they took place after he took a leave of absence in February 1999 to oversee the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games.  According to recently released documents, regulatory filings show that Romney was still in charge of Bain through 2002.  However, Bain officials, including Democrats, say that he was not involved with the company’s day-to-day operations during that time.

The White House and other “progressives” within the Democratic Party are also criticizing Romney for setting up offshore bank accounts and refusing to release additional information concerning his personal fortune, estimated to be as much as $250 million.

“John McCain ran for president and released two years of tax returns. John Kerry ran for president, and his wife, who has hundreds of millions of dollars, she never released her tax returns. Somehow this wasn’t an issue.  The Obama people keep on wanting more and more and more, more things to pick through, more things for their opposition research to try and make a mountain out of and distort and to be dishonest about.” Romney countered in a television interview.

“progressives” keep insisting that Romney’s “secrecy” goes to the “trust factor”.  When it comes to secrecy and the trust factor, how on earth can policy wonks who insist on hiding the Oval Office occupant’s entire past claim even a glimpse of, much less a hold on the moral high ground?  Despite their horrendously duplicitous nature, “progressives” need to learn that trust must be a two way street.

Why was the “affordable care act” passed without Congress reading it first?

Why weren’t the New Black Panthers prosecuted for voter intimidation that was clearly documented?

Why did the NLRB sue Boeing?

Why has the administration stifled the production of cheap energy through EPA regulations and denial of permits?

Why has the administration abandoned national border security while suing States attempting to enforce federal law and granting blanket protection from prosecution for breaking immigration laws to millions of illegal aliens?

Why is the administration suing States that passed Voter ID laws intended solely to protect the integrity of America’s voting process?

Why has the counting of American votes in the November 2012 election been outsourced to a Spanish company?

Why does the White House continue insisting that average everyday Americans are not being taxed by the “affordable care act” when enforcement of the “penalty” falls to the IRS?

When did the IRS suddenly leave the Department of Treasury and move to the Department of Health and Human Services?

Why did so many millions of taxpayer dollars go to “green energy” companies whose executives “just happened” to have been big time “progressive” bundlers for the 2008 Democratic presidential campaign?

Where is the justification for using Executive Privilege to hide the truth about Operation Fast and Furious which resulted in the murder of American Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry?

The White House calling for transparency from the Mitt Romney campaign would be perfectly fine were they practicing what they preach.  They are not.  “The most transparent administration in history” has practiced anything but transparency.  Until they do, they should be prepared to take their lumps.

Captain Transparency: We all see Right Through Him

Officials in the White House may have thought they had stopped Barack Obama’s public relations blood-letting when they abruptly cancelled a ceremony where Obama was scheduled to receive an award for promoting governmental transparency. They needn’t have bothered since the American people can already see right through him. Attempting to make a sow’s ear look like a silk purse, White House press secretary Jay Carney came valiantly riding to the rescue. “What I will not concede is that his record on the issue [transparency] is anything but exemplary,” Carney said. Mr. Carney, what have you been smoking and on which planet do you inhale it?

“This president is less transparent, less willing to accommodate data transparency which the committee fought for on a non-partisan basis,” said Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Issa has repeatedly been stonewalled by the White House when Issa has requested information from the Obama Administration. “This administration has not been willing to cooperate,” says Issa.

Issa’s experience with Obama is hardly unique. Here are some of the other issues in Obama’s past that have failed to have been resolved by Obama through a full public disclosure of the facts:

  • On January 21, 2009, his first day in office, Barack Obama implemented and signed into law Executive Order 13489, denying any release of any information about him. This is quite interesting given the fact that on that very same day Obama said the following: “The Freedom of Information Act should be administered with a clear presumption: In the face of doubt, openness prevails.”
  • The long form of Obama’s Hawaiian Birth Certificate has never been released.
  • Obama’s Law practices client list and billing records have not been released. The records are alleged to have been lost.
  • Obama’s Columbia University records, as a foreign exchange student under the name of Barry Soetoro, have never been released.
  • Obama’s Harvard Law School records as a foreign exchange student under the name of Barry Soetoro have never been released.
  • Obama’s Illinois State Senate records have never been released.
  • The reason Obama lost his license to practice law in Illinois, supposedly for perjury, has not been released.
  • Obama or Barry Soetoro – the countries he visited outside the United States before 2008 have not been released.
  • Obama, as Barry Soetoro, his Harvard Law Review articles, if any exist, have not been released.
  • Last week Obama refused to provide minutes for meetings in which ObamaCare was devised.
  • Stanley Anne Dunham and Obama Sr.’s marriage license has never been released.
  • Stanley Anne Dunham and Lulu Soetoro’s marriage license has never been released.
  • Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Obama’s adoption records has never been released.
  • Obama’s Selective Service Registration has not been released.
  • Obama’s U.S. Passport has never been released.
  • Barack Obama’s Baptism Certificate has not been released.
  • Obama’s medical records have not been released. However, a one-page statement was released that simply said that Obama was healthy.
  • Obama’s Illinois State Senate schedule has not been released.
  • Obama’s University of Chicago scholarly articles, if any exist, have not been released.

Obama clearly has a penchant for keeping both his personal and his public life secret. However, given the fact that he occupies the highest political office in the land, it is impossible for Obama to keep all the details of his life away from the public’s prying eyes. For example the public is painfully aware that Obama  is jetting away for yet another vacation, this time to Rio De Janeiro, while Japan fights a nuclear meltdown, Libyan rebels are on the verge of being exterminated, Israel boards a ship loaded with weapons for Hamas, the U.S. economy is imploding, and both food and gasoline prices are skyrocketing. Wasn’t it Hillary Clinton who warned us that Obama wouldn’t be there to answer the 3 a.m. telephone call?

Ron Bonjean, writing in May of 2010 for the Thomas Jefferson Street blog, had this to say about Obama’s dismal record on the issue of transparency:

President Obama is now suffering the consequences of breaking his transparency promises. In a memorandum to heads of executive agencies on WhiteHouse.gov, he said, “We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.”

But his administration’s actions speak louder than his memos or campaign promises. It refused to allow cameras into daily negotiations on the healthcare bill. Instead, White House officials used a televised staged summit as a mea culpa to the public. The recently held nuclear summit closed to the press corps also comes to mind.

Bonjean hit the nail on the head. Obama is now suffering the fate of those who lose faith with the public. People no longer listen to what he says. And they have good reason to ignore him.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sara Griffin, a while ago, published a book titled “How to Judge the True Character of a Person in an Hour.” The title of the first chapter? “Don’t Let Them Fool Ya’” If there is anything we have learned about Obama over the past several years it is that he uses misdirection techniques to take the focus off of personally sensitive subjects that he really doesn’t want to talk about. Case in point is the never-ending subject of his birth certificate. Asked point blank about it during a television interview, Obama replied that he simply didn’t have the time to retrieve it. Obama misdirects. He obfuscates. He delays acknowledgement of issues even while the world is crashing down around him. He ignores questions. He refuses to lead on major issues such as the current budget battle in Congress. He votes “present” and then disappears into the woodwork on both domestic and foreign affairs. He goes on vacations. He seldom holds press conferences. He follows Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to the letter. He surrounds himself with toadies. In short, he unwittingly has created a situation in which the citizens of the United States of America are now judging him on the content of his character – Or more precisely, on his lack of character.

Obama’s insistence on absolute secrecy, his habit of breaking promises he makes to the American people, and his communistic agenda have all combined to destroy whatever credibility he once had. He has become a pariah to the American people. He cannot win a second term in office. Despite the fact that the Republicans don’t appear to have an exceptionally strong slate of candidates to run against Obama in 2012, it appears that they don’t need to. The vote is going to become a referendum on Obama and he will be weighed in the balance and found to be lacking.

Obama has done this to himself. He alone holds the blame for his failed presidency. Obama just this week publicly yearned for a better job for a man of his abilities. Expressing a desire to rule China instead of the United States, Obama unintentionally offered yet another glimpse into the heart, mind, and character of a would-be king. As the world burns, Obama/Nero fiddles his way to Argentina. Rome was lucky in AD 64 as it only burned for five and a half days. America will burn for another two years and even after the Emperor Obama is turned out of office, it will take another decade to undo the damage done by our would-be King. And that’s a conservative estimate.
