MI Schools Close as Teachers Call-In Sick to Protest

empty classroom

Michigan teachers are calling in sick Tuesday as part of a massive protest effort against the state’s new Right to Work legislation that has just passed in the financially struggling state. At least two school districts are closed Tuesday after discovering more than half their teachers will not be working.

The bill would allow workers at union-represented employers to not pay dues even though the union would be bargaining on their behalf. Advocates of the bill say it will help attract business to the state which has unemployment over 9%;  while unions, who represent over 17% of the workers, believe this bill will weaken their bargaining position by cutting financial resources.

Governor Rick Snyder is expected to sign the bill into law Tuesday.

Teachers suffering from memory loss

Albert Shanker inventor of the assembly line compensation model for teachers.

It’s been a busy week on the education front in Virginia. The General Assembly, concerned about academics and discipline, defeated the “Tebow” bill that would have allowed homeschoolers to try out for high school athletic teams.

And Assembly also defeated a tenure reform bill that would have made it easier to fire incompetent teachers mostly because of the fear that educators might be dismissed for personality conflicts with their boss. An outrageous state of affairs as former Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth can personally attest.

So it was more than a little ironic when the day before local teachers were scheduled to hold a Saturday ‘grade–in’ at Wegmans grocery store to protest a budget that lacks a raise for next year; one of those homeschooled, academically–challenged, discipline problems the General Assembly is so worried about won the county spelling bee.

Lori Anne Madison took the crown at the 34th annual bee by spelling “vaquero,” which is quite an accomplishment for a 6–year–old since the word is not even English.

(It also makes me wonder if spelling bees held in Mexico City ever ask anyone to spell “cowboy?”)

Meanwhile, back at Wegmans, public school teachers were grading papers and preparing lesson plans among the arugula to demonstrate to a cheap, penny–pinching public all the work they do outside the classroom.

As Jim Livingston, a board member of the Prince William Education Assn. said, “The grade–in is designed so that the public can see that there is a lot more in the daily life of a professional educator than just 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or 7 to 2.”

Livingston had also better hope the public doesn’t do the math, because both of those number sets only add up to a seven–hour work day (including lunch), which is at least an hour shorter than the work day of most taxpayers.

In addition to grading papers by the light reflected off the sneeze guards, county teachers are also “working to rule,” which means they will no longer come in early to help students or stay after school for extracurricular activities unless they are paid for the extra time.

This labor action only serves to prove teacher’s memories are as short as that of their students.

Let’s step outside the ivory tower of academia and examine what’s been going on in what I call Taxpayer World. Nationally unemployment for taxpayers is between 8 and 9 percent, unless you count those who have given up looking for work entirely, which puts the figure in double digits.

During the past four years approximately 300,000 public school employees lost their jobs outside of Prince William County where I live and, according to school board Chairman Milton C. Johns, those jobs are not coming back.

Yet here not one school employee lost their job or was forced to take an unpaid furlough. What’s more, last year when county government employees took a 5 percent hit in their paycheck to cover costs passed down to the local level from the state, teachers did not lose a penny and were even given a small bonus that did not affect their base pay. But somehow being sheltered from a recession that’s hammering taxpayers — no layoffs, no furloughs, no pay cuts and a one–time bonus — equals unhappiness.

It also indicates students aren’t the only ones with unrealistically high self–esteem.

Chairman Johns solution to this impasse is to give the school board taxing authority. This would be like putting beavers in charge of the dam–building budget. Right now a disgruntled school board gets 56.75 percent of the county’s general revenue, which is more than in Fairfax County, Alexandria, Arlington County and Loudoun County.

Prince William spent $12,650 per student in 2009 and 85 percent of that expenditure goes to personnel costs. In the state as a whole, between 2002 and 2009 per–pupil spending increased 44 percent.

So don’t talk to me about cuts in education spending. Teachers refer to themselves as “professionals” yet they cling to an assembly–line compensation regime and refuse to accept professional responsibility or establish measurable benchmarks for student’s education.

In keeping with my family’s innate sense of bad timing, my son has finally decided grades are important during a year in which teachers work–to–rule. Fortunately, the teacher in the class where he as the most trouble continues to stay after school to work with him and consequently his grade is improving.

She certainly deserves a raise. On the other hand, the middle school math teacher who decided to essentially retire during the school year instead of waiting for June deserved to be fired.

My advice for teachers is if you want to be paid like professionals, agree to be evaluated individually just like professionals.

About Those Underpaid Union Teachers

While an amazing 57% of Americans were recently shown to believe that our teachers are underpaid and overworked… FACTS prove otherwise, much to the dismay of Obama and his Union bed-pals working to get him reelected in 2012. A new study by the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation finds that public school teachers receive total compensation more an astounding 50% greater than that of private sector employees. When studying the complete employment package that includes vacation time, benefits and job security, we see that unionized public sector teachers have really pulled the wool over the eyes of the American taxpayer when it comes to their often-stated “We are overworked and underpaid” soundbites.

Unions pay big money to elect political bed-pals, who then turn around and approve fantasy-land salary and benefits packages for Union teachers that result in the collapse of state budgets across America. As we see here, 92% of all Union cash since 1990 has went into Democratic campaign coffers:

Since 1990, labor unions have contributed over $667 million in election campaigns in the United States, of which $614 million or 92 percent went to support Democratic candidates. In 2008, unions spent $74.5 million in campaign contributions, with $68.3 million going to the Democratic Party. Already, unions have contributed $6.5 million to the 2010 elections, and $6 million has gone to Democrats, according to the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C.

The NEA and the AFT Teachers Unions are big players in Obama’s reelection campaign, and this is the main reason for his current “pass my Jobs Bill right now” temper tantrum, in which he wants to “create or save” millions of Union teacher jobs with Federal tax dollars. FACT: In doing my own research, I have yet to interview one child who could tell me that they showed up for school this year and found no teacher there to teach the class. NOT ONE. Incompetent, or unnecessary teachers should be sitting at home, not being paid federal tax dollars to overburden state budgets.

The Obama Administration has said that it wishes to make greater federal funding for education a priority during the years ahead, and has shown no willingness to support school choice in the form of vouchers. This is directly related to campaign donations of the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers which from 1990 – 2008, have contributed more than $50 million to support Democratic candidates running for office. Teachers unions also spent record amounts to elect Democrats in the 2010 elections, but common sense Americans, along with the Tea Party spoiled those plans. That is the reason we see Unions protesting common sense state budget cuts across America: Many states now have new, common-sense conservative Governors and legislatures that mean business as far as obeying state laws that require them to balance their budgets are concerned.

Both of the above-mentioned unions have been strong supporters of increased federal aid to public schools and have strongly opposed school voucher programs. Of course they are against school vouchers, and this is also known as feeding the goose that is laying the golden eggs to fill Democratic campaign coffers which in turn, allows Liberal-fake-Democrats to remain in power. It is a never-ending vicious cycle of irresponsibility that keeps repeating itself….until the taxpayer money-pit runs dry, that is.  See Wisconsin, Ohio, and California for blatant examples of how Union teacher and other public sector employee pensions, healthcare and bloated salaries end up killing state budgets.  Over the course of the last four decades, states have used budgetary gimmickry to hide the trillions of dollars of unfunded pension liabilities.  Eventually, the truth comes out that there just isn’t enough money to pay all the state pensions that have been promised and agreed to by irresponsible politicians  begging for reelection. The folks who have put in 20 or 30 years of service don’t want their pensions cut, while the current batch of Union employees do not want to contribute enough money to the pension funds to keep them solvent in the very near future.

So much for Union solidarity there. Meanwhile we have the Occupy Wall Street protesters shoulder to shoulder with big labor unions in condemning American “greed.” The very same greed that teachers are shown to have an abundance of, raking in 50% more in total compensation than private sector workers, and still claiming to be underpaid.  How about that OWS protesters? Will we see signs condemning teachers union greed any time soon? I won’t hold my breath.

Nov. 8th, 2011: Historic Ballot Vote to be Held in Ohio

In a little over two weeks there will be a Statewide ballot initiative in Ohio that is of major importance to every single American citizen. This should in fact, be a National vote for all affected citizens as opposed to it just being a State ballot vote due to it’s wide-ranging implications.

On Nov. 8th the voters of Ohio will go to the polling stations to vote on an attempt by Big Labor Unions to repeal the democratically passed Senate Bill 05, which was  signed into law by Governor Kasich back in March, 2011. ( Known on ballot as ** Issue 2**)

Before the ink was even dry after the signing of SB 5 into law, big labor was on the march, creating another community organizing group to demand the law’s repeal, this one with the catch-phrase title, We Are Ohio. I guess the 85% of the working folks in the State of Ohio that chose not to belong to big Labor Unions are now being told they are no longer Ohioans. If big labor Unions are Ohio, just what are the other 85% of the Ohio public supposed to be? Michiganders? Doesn’t their vote count too? Is this what the democracy looks like that Unions so love to chant about at these protest rallies that are designed to…..ignore the majority of the voting public and the laws that their elected officials pass? Democrats and their Union bed-pals are desperate to hold onto power in 2012 and that is exactly what this ballot initiative is all about.

I invite everyone to check out the above-linked We Are Ohio page. They put out what appears to be a white paper in a fact-checking form, yet their “facts” leave a lot to be desired. We will just visit one blaring piece of misinformation that proves that We Are Ohio is nothing more than a left-wing-big-Union-promoting-propaganda media outlet designed to fool the good people of  Ohio into repealing SB 5. ( Issue 2 on the ballot) Here is what the Union power-brokers would like you to believe: ( from the Union propaganda page, We Are Ohio)

MYTH: Public employees are overpaid, and their salaries need to be brought in line with the private sector.
TRUTH: A recent Rutgers University study found Ohio public employees earn 6 percent less on a yearly basis than their peers in the private sector. They earn 3.5% less on an hourly basis. The average OAPSE (Ohio Association of Public School Employee) makes $24,000 a year and retires with an average pension of $900 a month. Public employees do not pay into or receive Social Security.  ( emphasis mine)

In a scathing rebuttal to the ludicrous claims that Ohio teachers earn less than the private sector and “retire with an average pension of $900.00 a month, we see a retired Ohio teacher explain how the Union gimmickry is being used to against the Ohio taxpayers in a Columbus Dispatch editorial:

We had an administrator who retired at $80,000 a year, was rehired at the same salary he had just left behind, and then got another $40,000 a year from the State Teachers Retirement System, making him $120,000 a year. ( emphasis mine)

For the mathematically-challenged propagandists over at We Are Ohio, that equates to a pension of $10,000.00 a month, a far cry from the $900 that We Are Ohio wants you to believe. The retired teacher went even further in showing why he thinks this is bad for the taxpayers of Ohio:

So, when he was rehired, 85 percent of his $80,000 was paid by the taxpayers of Ohio. In this one simple action by the local school board, every taxpayer in our state was held liable for his salary.
Members of the public should have some say in the matter, since it’s their money.

I believe Ohio Senate Bill 5 would put the power of spending their hard-earned dollars back in the hands of the taxpayers, just where it should be. Submitted by, DAVID A. KUNKLER

Unlike the Wisconsin Union recall effort, conservatives are not taking this fight lying down and created a group titled Building a Better Ohio. On that website we see several examples like that of the retired teacher above that debunk the propaganda of We Are Ohio. Here is another well-explained example of just how disgusting the misinformation being put out by We Are Ohio truly is, from an editorial in the Canton Repository titled, SB5 Needed to Fix Bizarre Compensation:

Now let’s look at the “average Stark County resident;” bear in mind that public-sector employees are included in this average. If an average resident earns $25,285 and benefits provided by the employer cost $13,660, the total cost to employ the “average” county resident is $38,945, but compare that to a (Union) teacher in the Jackson Local Schools who has a base salary of $65,031 plus $23,895 paid by the “employer” (taxpayer), or $88,926 for a year of their “labor,” which is about nine months. (emphasis mine)

There we have it. An average Stark County Ohio resident’s total compensation, including wages and benefits is right at $39 grand a year, while a union teacher in the very same county ‘s package totals a whopping $89 grand a year for a difference of $50 grand a year. This is why responsible State legislators across America are scrambling to install some sort of fiscal sanity back into their budgets and curtailing big labor Union costs by passing laws such as Ohio’s SB 05. Now Unions are on the March to deny the working folks the right to say how there tax dollars will be spent once again.

Let’s hope Ohioans will vote YES ON ISSUE 2 on Nov. 8th. This will affect States across America if the good people of Ohio do not step up and vote yes, and conservatives across America should try to help out by making donations to help Building a Better Ohio    to help fight back against the big labor Union misinformation campaign now know as We Are Ohio.

Marxism on Full Display in DC on Saturday

The {fake}Reverend Al Sharpton led  a rally in our nation’s capitol today, which originally was supposed to be a demand for Congress to pass Obama’s Jobs bill. The U.S. Senate put the kibosh on those plans, as it voted down Obama’s jobs bill last week. That did not prevent the latest faux  journolist to be put on national display at MSNBC  from grabbing the microphone and prepping D.C.  for Obama’s dedication speech for the new MLK Jr. memorial tomorrow. And prep them he did. While  Sharpton did throw in some support for Obama’s now dead jobs bill,  that was nowhere near the main theme of this rally. The message that Sharpton wanted to tell the nation was unadulterated  Marxist ideology 101 =  WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION.     From Eric Tucker of the AP via startribune.com: Al  Sharpton enlisted Martin Luther King III for the main theme:

King’s eldest son, Martin Luther King III, was also among the speakers.

Over 45 years ago, my father talked about a redistribution of wealth. In fact, that is probably why he was killed,” King said. “Because he said if America is going to survive responsibly, then it must have a redistribution of wealth.” (emphasis mine)

I,ll let that statement, which was spoken in our nation’s capitol, right in front of the Washington Monument no less,  speak for itself. For the uninformed masses who still deny Barack Obama’s deep-seated Marxist ideology, even after he said almost those exact same words in 2008 to Joe the Plumber in Ohio, here is the definition of Marxism by education.yahoo.com:

The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society’s allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society.

Get that? To form a Socialist and ultimately classless society. Play the class warfare victim cards, collapse the free market system and install a utopian Socialistic Society.. where there is one main class of people… what they refuse to tell people is that Socialism results in widespread poverty that in turn breeds a Dictatorship class of rulers that ends up making decisions such as who gets to eat and who doesn’t.  For a more complete understanding about the wealth re-distributive principles inherent in Marxism, please read this article:  The Communist Manifesto – The Capitalist Manifesto – Socialism by Bill Glynn.

Al Sharpton’s rally (from the above link, at  startribune.com) also had other points of interest, such as  condemning state laws requiring voter identification at the polls and protesting the recent execution of Troy Davis, a Georgia man convicted of killing an off-duty police officer. Davis maintained his innocence until his death and attracted thousands of supporters worldwide even though courts repeatedly ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to exonerate him.  Marxism relies on the breaking down of a societal system, including corrupting the electoral system which is why these people decry Voter ID laws today.

In case you are wondering who else was at this Marxist protest rally in our nation’s capitol on Saturday, here are the other notable people including many of our very own government’s tax-payer funded employees:

Kathie Williams, a part-time administrator for the Howard County, Md., parks and recreation department. She’d like to find full-time work but has struggled to do so despite an active search.

Belinda Shade, 56, of Waldorf, Md., works as a special education school administrator but said the economy still makes her insecure.

District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray held a separate protest supporting greater autonomy for the district government — Congress must approve the local government’s budget — and joined in the larger gathering. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and Randi Weingarten of the American Federation of Teachers were among the other speakers.

Wait a minute, someone from the American Federation of Teachers was there too? Isn’t that just another fancy name for a UNION? Yes it is.

Chanting for jobs and justice, many demonstrators carried banners for their labor unions and wore pins or T-shirts bearing King’s likeness. Obama is scheduled to speak Sunday at the dedication ceremony for the memorial, the first monument dedicated to a black leader on the National Mall. (emphasis mine)

In summary, the [fake] Reverend Al Sharpton made it a point to say this has absolutely nothing to do with Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. In Sharpton’s eloquent [bought and paid for by MSNBC]-speak he ended his speech with,  “This is not about Obama,” he said. “This is about my mama.”  Kinda makes me feel like Sharpton is just as gifted a speaker as the teleprompter-in-chief there.

How many times will America have to witness these anti-American Marxism preachers at events like this one at the National Monument, where big labor Unions, Socialists disguised as Democrats, Communists and MSNBC’s newest propagandist Al Sharpton are all shown to be promoting the overthrow and collapse of America, before they will take a stand against them?

Footnote: What is the now-stated main theme of the Occupy Wall Street protests today? Marxist wealth redistribution in the form of living wages regardless of employment, complete debt forgiveness, free houses for everyone regardless of ability to pay, good jobs regardless of qualifications, etc.etc.etc. Take from the working class and give to the freeloader-class until everyone is mired in poverty.

From Sharpton’s DC rally, to the Wall Street protests across the nation, with the support of many Socialists sitting in our Congress disguised as Democrats,  America is being systematically dismantled by anti-American Marxist collaborators, including our own President, Barack Obama.   2012  just can’t get here fast enough.

CPUSA–> Obama’s Jobs Bill–> OccupyWallStreet

Communism, Socialism, OccupyWallStreet, and Barack Obama’s Jobs Bill all nestled together under one all-telling blanket.

While the following excerpts may sound familiar to some, the underlying repercussions that come with them may very well  surprise most of our readers:

“A better and peaceful world is possible- a world where people and nature come before profits.”  That may sound rosy enough at the outset,  until we see what directly follows that statement:

“That’s Socialism. That’s our vision. We are The Communist Party USA. That statement is brought to you by the CPUSA’s current homepage. When indoctrinating America’s youth, Communists always start out with championing Socialism. The Socialist Workers Party was/is just another stealth front group for Communist indoctrination through the use of  the term “workers” also. The infamous National Socialist  German Workers Party was widely known as the NAZI Party, which hid behind  title, The German Workers Party prior to a name change in 1920. The term NAZI is German and stems from Nationalsozialist.  That little history lesson, while many folks may view it as irrevelant towards today’s American Politics, should never be forgotten, as history truly does have a way of repeating itself over and over. What is also troubling is the fact that we even have a Communist party in America today.

Now for some more tidbits from the CPUSA homepage we see the following link to an article from People’s World  titled: America’s kids tell their stories from their Wall Street Camp.

While the article goes on to tell stories of the cute “kids” at the protests, it also carries a very heavy undercurrent of anti-capitalistic indoctrination in it. Take this paragraph for instance:

Esmeralda, Youth Council President of the Mid Manhattan NAACP, and two friends are camping out together. Esmeralda, 17, says she’s had “lots of internships, but never a real job.” Her high school is just across the street from Zuccotti Park and she’s been joining her friends Chilligan, 19, and Nicole, 20 at the park every day after class.

Maybe a little less time spent as a 17-yr old Youth President of the NAACP and a little more time applying herself at school would lead to a decent job and/or qualify her for college one day in the future. 17 years old and already an anti-capitalist community organizer complaining she doesn’t have  a job. What she really means that everyone has the right to a $20.00 an hour job, regardless of employment as seen here. This is what we see more and more of every day in America, thanks to the indoctrination of our youth in the classrooms. They get out into the real world only to discover that they do not have a basic set of skills to actually put towards working for a living. we see this pattern in virtually all of the “stories about the kids at Wall Street Camp” in that article. Socialists are experts at playing the victim card while actually creating more victims by indoctrinating them into hating capitalism and worshiping the nanny state. That’s Socialism.

Also found on today’s CPUSA homepage is also this unmitigated lie being told to the uninformed masses of American youth: “Socialism will meet the needs of the great majority of our people and lay the basis for solving our social, economic and environmental problems.”  Did you catch that statement, all you kids at the Wall Street camps?  Put on your Mao and Che shirts, denounce capitalism, become a Socialist puppet, and you are well on your way to the Communist Utopia where poof!, all our problems will auto-magically disappear! What the Communist propagandists fail to tell you is that Communism leads to bread lines and wide-spread poverty 100% of the time. ( Unless you are enslaved to the government dictatorship that feeds and clothes you in exchange for serving  the state, in which case they shall deem you important enough to keep alive until you outlive your usefulness, or just get too old to work)  The lies being told about supposedly being a slave to evil capitalism somehow forget to inform people of the benefits of capitalism, such as the freedom to live and work where you choose, the right towards prosperity through hard work and opportunity, and the right to worship as you choose. You get none of that under a Communist dictatorship, period. Just speaking out against government abuses of the people can get you imprisoned for life, or even killed in all Communist countries. Beware of the Socialism pimps, as they are always working towards creating a Communist state in the end. History shows that to be an undeniable fact, unless your  unionized history teacher is a Socialist Workers Party USA member wearing a Che T-shirt in class. In that case you need to go straight home and inform your parents about what is going on, and demand that the situation be addressed immediately. American schools are for teaching our children true American and world history, and about the proven American exceptionalism that has made this the greatest, freest nation on earth for over 200 years. Leave the Socialist/Communist indoctrination out of our schools please.

Last but certainly not least, we see another revelation on the CPUSA’s homepage that should open the eyes of all Americans today:

Organizing for Jobs,Jobs,Jobs.  “The Great Recession of 2008 is looking more like the Great Depression of the 1930s. The economic crisis of U.S. (and world) capitalism is entering its fourth year.” (emphasis mine) next up they make the pitch that the only way to improve our economy is for the government to somehow create jobs. (Nanny-state enslavement 101 kids) ** Note: Nowhere in the United States Constitution is it stated that the government has the power to interfere in the private sector free market system or “create jobs” with taxpayer dollars. Funny thing about Communists, Marxists and Socialists: they all believe in radical change/overthrow of governments to mold society to fit their Utopian ideology. That means ignoring our constitution or eventually abolishing it all together eventually. President Obama wants another half a billion tax payer dollars to supposedly create jobs. The CPUSA wants you to know that they support his plan.

“Two weeks ago President Obama introduced the American Jobs Act to a joint session of Congress. It is sure to meet stiff resistance from the Republicans in Congress. A massive outcry of millions of American people insisting on the Act’s passage is necessary.” (emphasis mine)

In that last statement we see the communist Party USA parroting the exact same thing Barack Obama has been telling people across the nation in dozens of speeches. Coincidence? Not hardly. CPUSA takes it one step further in mentioning other Obama political-operative groups, such as the AFL-CIO and moveon.org:

“America Wants to Work (AFL-CIO) in alliance with many community and activist organizations including Moveon.org are organizing a week of actions Oct. 10-16 demanding jobs. Thousands of grassroots actions, marches, vigils, delegations and speak-outs are being planned in cities and neighborhoods across the country.”

Isn’t there already a group of wanna-be Socialists posing as a grassroots movement, protesting against capitalism and Wall Street bankers? Oh yes that would be the astro-turfing Occupy Wall Street protesters we see today. Further proof of the indoctrination of our youth by Union ( Socialist Workers party) teacherscanalso be found in this announcement at CPUSA: “A national National Teach-in called Students and Youth Rising for Jobs and Economic Justice will take place Oct. 12.” Isn’t that a hell of a coincidence there?

Communist Party USA —>  Occupy Wall Street —-> AFL-CIO —> Barack Obama’s very own moveon.org, all working together for the common cause of getting out and organizing for the passage of Obama’s jobs bill while protesting evil capitalism !   What a lovely team.   2012 just can’t get here soon enough!

Special update just for the annonynous pest trying to propagandize our comment section here at CDN:  Since DAY1  in New York look who has been behind the OWS protests! Thank you Andrew Breitbart.   Meet the career anarchist posing as a New-Yorker who is actually from Texas.

The American Jobs Act and The Games Harry Plays

President Obama wants his jobs bill passed. Does everyone understand that now?  For those of you living in a cave in Iraq without wi-fi, there is a supposed jobs bill here in America, and President Obama wants it passed right now, today, no questions asked! Obama wants you to know that if Congress does not pass his jobs bill, he will be on TV, on a bus tour across America and in the news every single day until… the 2012 elections continuing his very unpresidential  "Pass My Jobs Bill" temper tantrum. That is what he promised/threatened to do in his 112 minute speech to the nation yesterday. That, and blame Republicans again. Is the President of the United States so out of touch with the voting public that he thinks this type of childish tantrum on national TV will magically persuade the 54% of people who now disapprove of Barack Obama to vote for "four more years?"

The first hurdle towards passing Obama’s jobs bill reared it’s ugly head in the Unites States Senate on Wednesday. This was seen in the example of an epic battle between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (L-D) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R).  Harry did not have the votes needed to pass the jobs bill due to bi-partisan opposition and Mitch wanted a vote on it right then and there on Weds. In this battle of Senate titans, which was televised in it’s entirety on Cspan, ( yes we watch Cspan now and then) we saw Harry capitulate, grovel and complain, while yet not really explaining why he refused to give Obama his much-demanded vote on the jobs bill. Mitch held his ground and said " Let’s give the President the vote he wants here today." Back and forth, over and over, both aging fighters were hitting each other with the all-to-common politically correct verbal feather punches and counter-hugs, punches. Neither man would back down and this battle looked to end in a stalemate by Weds. evening. On Thursday, President Obama went on another 112 minute rant to the nation stating that they had better pass his jobs bill or the people would "run them out of town." ( referring to Republicans only , because Democrats had nothing to do with the 6 trillion dollars of debt they have slapped onto the backs of our children, according to Obama) By this time the nation was being exposed to Harry’s games in the Senate by citizen journalists, political activists, and grassroots Tea Party groups across America. Immense pressure was being put on poor old Harry Reid, and he seemed to crack near the end of Obama’s speech, as Fox news announced that Harry Reid would indeed allow the Senate to hold a vote on Obama’s jobs bill later on that day. ( Thursday)  Apparently, this was just another of Harry Reid’s  irresponsible games being played once again, because as of right now, it looks like the vote was not held. We all know how  by now Harry’s past games have been played. Remember when he was caught bribing Senators Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA) during the health-care debate? That resulted in what are known as the Corn-husker kick-back and the new Louisiana Purchase in which your own tax dollars were used to buy their votes for Obama-care. Harry Reid has been playing these types of games for decades up there in the U.S. Senate. (at taxpayers expense) When harry announced that they would vote on the jobs bill yesterday, he must have had some more kick-back schemes lined up, in which he thought he could buy the votes needed to pass the jobs bill. The vote did not happen last night as had been announced. While the reasons for it  not happening are not yet clear, it now looks like Harry Reid is losing at his own game.

Why is there bi-partisan opposition to Obama’s jobs bill ?

Maybe it is the fact that the jobs bill really isn’t a jobs bill after all, upon closer inspection? What if it is proven that Barack Obama is fighting not for jobs for ordinary citizens, but is, in fact simply begging for another half a trillion taxpayer dollars to pay back his vote-buying Union bed-pals, assorted crony-capitalists such as G.E., and  strengthen his campaign coffers just like he did with the 826-billion-dollar-taxpayer-fraud now know as the fake stimulus package ?  That debacle did not stop us from  the current 9.1% unemployment rate we have which is crushing the middle class of America. The bullet points in Obama’s latest Stimulus Package-light  run right along with the same lines as the lies that were told during the last stimulus package propaganda tour, except that this time we are being promised that. "The U/E rate will drop a couple of points," instead of the fallacy of 8% that Obama told us the last time we saw this scheme to defraud the American taxpayer. When researching The American Jobs Act in a browser, the first 15-20 pages are all from teachers unions and assorted Obama political operatives that are nothing more than parroting Obama’s misleading talking points verbatim. As Obama’s lifelong pal, Weather-underground terrorist and Chi-town community organizer Bill Ayer’s always says, " Tell a lie long enough, and the uninformed masses will eventually believe it." How many times have we seen Barack Obama on TV, on the radio, in the faux news fluff pieces, and flying around the country in perpetual campaign mode demanding that Congress pass his jobs bill now and put " Americans back to work" recently? .Too many to count. Tell the lies loud enough and long enough and the sheep will eventually believe it. That is why Barack Obama is spending millions of taxpayer dollars and wasting valuable time demanding his jobs bill be passed, time that could be better spent governing and leading this country, instead of  preaching about this Stimulus-light.

If Obama”s jobs bill was designed to actually help Americans get back to work, then the bill would simply sell itself to Congress.  That did not happen.

In an article from nationalreview.com, we see just why Obama’s jobs bill seems to be stuck in the mud in Congress and doomed to sink:

Transportation funding: The bill sets aside $50 billion for transportation projects, mostly in the form of grants and guaranteed loans, including $27 billion for “immediate transportation infrastructure investments” on highway and rail projects, including:

  • $4 billion in grants for “high-speed rail projects,” at least 85 percent of which must be spent on “the development of entire segments or phases of intercity or high-speed rail corridors.”

  • $2 billion (on top of that $4 billion) for Amtrak.

  • $2 billion for “airport improvement.”

  • $105 million for “the Puerto Rico highway program.”

The Transportation department, run by Ray LaHood has seen huge increases in taxpayer funding since Obama took office, yet we still stare 9.1% long-term unemployment in the face today. Remember the "shovel-ready jobs" promise during the original stimulus rip-off ? A huge part of as to why all of the transportation/infrastructure spending of Stimulus 1 failed was because that  Unions now get all federal construction contracts over $25 million dollars. No bids are allowed by private companies unless they are Unionized, no getting the best price for the taxpayer-funded projects, thus shutting out small companies that are not politically connected and Unionized. Federal transportation spending under Barack Obama has already increased by a whopping 549% !    In 2008 we spent $10.7B and in the last two years under Obama we have spent..$58.7 billion dollars in transportation and infrastructure funding, yet  we have seen very little improvement in our infrastructure, as Obama himself stated in his last speech. Why is that? If we add the 50 billion dollar increase in transportation spending that is asked for in the jobs bill, transportation spending will have increased by 1016% since 2008 levels. No that is not a typo, it is actually a 1016% increase in transportation spending. If we cut Obama’s Union bed-pals out of the picture and actually put these contracts up for fair bids, we just might see some actual improvement, instead of just a bunch of government signs stating how great the stimulus scheme was doing for us all.

Just like when Congress illegally created the FFB Congressional loan sharking bank for themselves back in 1973, Obama’s jobs bill also creates another "bank."

Infrastructure bank: The AJA establishes the “American Infrastructure Financing Authority” (a.k.a. the infrastructure bank) as a “wholly owned government corporation.” The purpose of this new “government corporation,” is according to the bill, “to facilitate investment in, and long-term financing of, economically viable infrastructure projects of regional or national significance.

Who decides which projects are “economically viable” and “of regional or national significance”? A board of unelected bureaucrats, that’s who. AIFA’s board of directors will consist of 7 members, each appointed by the president, “not more than 4 of which” can be from the same political party. They will preside over an annual fund of $10 billion that is set to grow to $20 billion after two years, before settling at $50 billion (annually) after 10 years. By 2014, AIFA’s “administrative costs” alone will reach up to $50 million per year. A few other notable provisions of the infrastructure bank:

It Creates a “Center for Excellence to provide technical assistance to public sector borrowers.”Contains a provision prioritizing “geographic diversity” in the selection of projects for funding. Nothing to see there folks, just move along.

Additionally, there is billions of dollars in Green Energy Solyndra-style fraud and taxpayer abuse embedded into the jobs bill that is sure to enrage many Americans upon discovery. We also have President Obama once again saying this jobs is completely paid for and will not increase our national debt. What the people need to be told is the fact that this fake jobs bill which is really just another stimulus fraud, will in fact be paid for by massive tax increases. Add  to that the so-called millionaires surtax of an additional 5.6% that was slipped into the Senate jobs bill yesterday, on Obama’s orders and we see the fact that Obama is indeed breaking numerous additional stated promises about "not raising taxes during the current recession." Another aspect of this farce of a jobs bill comes out into the sunlight when we research The American Jobs Act on the internet. As stated above the first 15-20 pages are mainly from teachers unions saying how wonderful it is that Barack will be putting them "back to work" with his jobs bill. In keeping things real, I just went down to do a simple poll at the local bus stop. There were 18 kids there this morning waiting for the school bus, ranging from 10 yrs old to 18. I asked a simple question: "Have any of you been sitting in a classroom where there was no teacher present at any point during this school year ? " Of course that has never happened they all stated. "How could we be out here going to school if there were no teachers in class? ",  a 10 year old asked me. My point exactly. So much for "Putting the valuable teachers back to work with his jobs bill" propaganda Obama spewed yesterday. When the teacher’s Unions explode the number of teachers to an unmanageable level, the first to go during common sense budget cuts are the ones whom are essentially worthless or were not needed to begin with. That is just a plain hard fact of life that even a 10 year old can understand.

Senate Majority obstructionist and denier of reality, Harry Reid  is simply playing a game he cannot win when it comes to passing Obama’s fake jobs bill. Realistic Senate Democrats  up for reelection in 2012, will note vote for this bill simply because they couldn’t ram it though quickly enough, as was Barack Obama’s plan. The people are wise to this Stimulus-light  jobs bill fraud, and are getting wiser by the minute, much to Harry’s dismay. The more we look into this jobs bill, the more we see that it is not an actual jobs bill that was designed to help the working class people of America. House Speaker Boehner is very aware of that fact, and poses yet another problem for Harry Reid in getting Obama’s jobs bill passed. Good luck Harry. 2012 just can’t get here fast enough.

UPDATE:  This just in:  Reid triggers ‘nuclear option’ to change Senate rules, end repeat filibusters.  As I stated earlier in this article, Harry Reid has been playing the nasty game of partisan, totalarianist  politics for a long time now. Hold your ground Mr. McConnell.

Chris Christie: 2012 Presidential Profile

Update: August 16, 2011– Speculation still continues to swirl around a possible run for the White House by Chris Christie. See “In The News” for updated news article.

Chris Christie has said numerous times that he will not be running for President of The United States of America in 2012. In fact, after much speculation, rumors, pleas, suggestions and questions regarding a possible run for leader of the free world Mr. Christie made the comment that it looked like the only thing that would prove he is not running for President is to commit suicide.

It has been reported that Roger Ailes and Rush Limbaugh met with Chris Christie to ask him to run for President. It appears as though Mr. Christie stood his ground, even with El Rushbo and the Chairman of Fox News.

I am a member of the crowd who would absolutely love for Chris Christie to throw his hat into the ring.  I am sure it is wishful thinking on my part, as well as the other people who fall into the category I do.

Even though Chris Christie says he is adamently opposed to entering the presidential race, let’s dig deeper into the facts about New Jersey’s new governor. We’ve seen him stand toe to toe with the teacher’s unions. We know he is exactly what this country needs fiscally. But is he a true Conservative?

Political Accomplishments
In his position as the chief federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey (U.S. Attorney), he was praised by leaders of both the Democrat and Republican parties for his efforts in fighting political corruption, corporate crime, human trafficking, gangs, terrorism and polluters. He also gained national attention for his fight in each of these areas.

Chris Christie has proven that he does not care what political party you are affiliated with or how many political connections you have, if you break the law he takes action! Under his leadership, his office won convictions or guilty pleas from more than 130 public officials- on both sides of the aisle. He and his team never lost a single case.

When he left the U.S. Attorney’s office  in 2008, he was praised by every major newspaper in the state of New Jersey for his accomplishments as New Jersey’s US Attorney.

War on Terror
Chris Christie has been in the thick of the battle in the War on Terror. No, he is not in the military, but he led the team that prevented a terrorist attack at Fort Dix.

Chris Christie is known for standing up to the political games and underhanded dealings of the political elite. He has made it very clear that he will not tolerate the abuse of power by elected officials or stealing from the taxpayers in New Jersey.

The Man With A Plan
One thing is for certain- Chris Christie is a man with a plan! I have been impressed with what I have seen in his now numerous and infamous showdowns with the Teacher’s Unions. He also has a written plan of 88 different ways he will fix New Jersey.  In reading his plan it appears he has an answer for almost every issue we face as a country. He is dealing with the issues on the state level within New Jersey, but the issues he is faced with in governing the state are the very same issues we are facing as a nation. Mr. Christie shows that there can be a realistic way to address each one of these issues. Are we going to agree with every single one of the 88 things he has planned? Absolutely not! I do not believe there is a single person I agree with 100% of the time! However, there is a plan in place. His plan is made public so the people of New Jersey can see what his plan is. Agree with him or not he knows how to get things accomplished!

His Reputation
Chris Christie has been called a lot of things in his short, yet very busy governorship.

He’s been called “a fiscal genius“.

It’s been said he:
“has charisma dripping out of every pore in his body”

It’s been said he “was missing in action

He’s upset:
The Obama Administration (this wins him HUGE points with me!!)

What If He Changes His Mind?
Though there are many speculations as to whether or not he will change his mind, Chris Christie is still standing firm that he will not run for President in 2012. The question has been asked whether or not his reputation will be ruined if he changes his mind between now and October 2012.

I am reminded of  George Washington when in 1787 he was approached- and eventually persuaded- to join the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. It is said that upon hearing that the they wanted him to join the Constitutional Convention, he said (although somewhat disputed) “Have I not yet done enough for my country?” While these exact words may not be the ones he expressed I can imagine it was something very similar.

I can also assume this is very much the way Chris Christie feels, though in a bit of a different sense. While he has not served as President before, and has said that he does not feel that he is ready for the Presidency, I am sure it is quite a daunting thought to think about.  To know that many people have the confidence in you that you may not feel in yourself is probably a bit unnerving.

Then there is what I would consider to probably be the main reason why Chris Christie is not running for President at this point. I know that I have heard him discuss this, but I can just about bet that this is the number one deciding factor in this decision. His family. He is a family man and wants to be a part of his children’s childhood. He wants to be able to coach their basketball teams and other extra-curricular activities. Becoming President of the free world would put a bit of a dent in those plans.

Having this put before him cannot be easy on Chris Christie. I am quite sure he is very well aware of the state of this nation. I admire the fact that he wants to complete a full term in office as governor. But I also see the qualities in him that would make the kind of President we need right now.

We are at a very crucial point in the history of this great nation. We are on a collision course with destruction. If we do not find someone with strong morals and character to stand up and say, “Enough is enough!” when it comes to our budget I just do not see any hope out of the mess we are in. Without a doubt I know Chris Christie would be this man.

Is it fair to ask someone to give up their way of life, sacrifice their family life for the rest of this nation? I don’t know that there is really an answer to that question. What is fair? Life is not fair. I think it goes well beyond asking if it is a fair question or not. What that question is I honestly do not know. But I know that we are in a dire situation.

I believe Chris Christie is the kind of man that is not willing to sell his soul, principles, morals and character out to the lobbyists and special interests. Is he perfect? Absolutely not! But I believe he understands what it takes to lead. There are very few people that are able to make the hard decisions that must be made as a leader. I believe this is what defines a good leader from someone who is in a leadership position. ANYONE can be given a title. It takes an exceptional person to be able to stand up to the naysayers and do what must be done. That is the mark of a true leader.

In Chris Christie I see a good leader. This country needs a good leader right now, more than ever!

Is Mr. Christie the man for the job? Only time will tell!

Bust the Unions ? You Betcha!

Bust all public sector Unions and bar them from the taxpayer’s wallet, and do it today. It is time to put this circus to bed. Democracy does not include 10% of the population forcing their will on the majority of the people who pay their salaries. It is that simple.

PhotoStory1   <-  Click the link here to see some of the lovely misfits and nasty rhetoric on display courtesy of these Union’s example of the so-called civil discourse President Obama called for recently. The wonderful people of Wisconsin surely must be very embarrassed with this circus being shown across the country. To be fair, Unions only make up about 10% of the population today, but this kind of lunacy and ugliness should be denounced by everyone in Wisconsin and across America. Many readers here will be asking themselves why they do not see this nastiness and disrespect on the news today?  The news media seem content to paint the Unions as representing all of the working people in America today. That couldn’t be further from the truth and they know it, yet they still refuse to show the people the real types of  tactics and nastiness the Unions are using up in Wisconsin. That is why I took the time to create a little slice of truth up there in that slide show.

Today there have been hints of threatened violence to come in Wisconsin, if Governor Walker does not bend to their demands. One such threat contained the statement, “I’m proud to be here with people who understand that it’s more than just sending an email to get you going. Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary getting boots on the ground and getting bloody.”  The person who uttered that?  U. S.Congressman, Mike Capuano. (D-MA)   The nasty, thug-faced,  head of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka marched right into the fray to put in his two cents in trying to protect his lavish Union head lifestyle and bargaining power. Do not forget the massive Union Obamacare waivers Trumka’s thugs just received. That is right, Obama decided these same Unions will not have to live under the same healthcare laws as the rest of the working people. A total of over 2 million workers are now safe from Obamacare, thanks to those “special waivers.” Anyone who thinks the DNC and Obama in particular, doesn’t expect payback for those “special waivers” in the 2012 elections is either very naive, or just plain stupid.

This battle is not over worker’s rights, as the media would like you to believe. This is a battle over the DNC being allowed to control and influence elections through Union political activities and campaign funding. Without the Union graft and bribery, the DNC will be in even worse shape in 2012, than it was during the historic beating they received in 2010. The DNC is fighting for the life of it’s base elections engineering Brownshirt Union army. Without Unions taking member’s dues and using them to buy elections and pay get out the vote operations, the DNC can forget about “Winning The Future.” in 2012 and beyond.  Yes ,it is that simple. Obama didn’t sic his attack dogs from OFA, (Organizing for America) MoveOn.org, Think Progress, Media Matters and DailyKos on Governor Walker to protect the poor working folks up in Wisconsin. No Sir, this Community Organizer in Chief is trying to cover his own bet on winning another term in 2012. Obama has proven to be hugely incompetent in running this country, but if there is one thing he does know, it’s how to organize sheep to control and win elections through any means necessary. Why do you think he created the pathetically mis-named Organizing for America?

Scott Walker was elected to be the Governor of Wisconsin. His duties include a mandatory balancing of the budget. If Barack Husein Obama doesn’t approve of that, I will have to say,” I,m sorry Barry, but we won the elections, and elections have consequences.” It’s high time Obama starts acting a little more like a President instead of a low-life community organizer making a living blackmailing corporations, businesses, and now the blackmailing and bullying of States. Governor Walker is going to pass a balanced budget come hell or high water people. That is something Obama and the Democrats have proven to have no knowledge of today. When is the last time our federal government actually passed a budget, let alone a balanced one ? We rang up the debt all of last year without any semblance of a budget. 5 months into this year and again we have no budget, and with Democrats still in charge of the Senate getting one passed any time soon will be impossible. Of course, the Democrats, led by Obama, have proven that they do not mind running the country on illegal continuing resolutions. Those blank checks on the taxpayer’s account allow them to pile on another trillion and a half in debt with very little accountability. The honorable Scott Walker will not let that happen to the people of Wisconsin, Union thugs and obstructionist Democrats be damned.

Arne Duncan and the Dept. of Education are Failing Our Kids

FoxNews.com published an article titled “America is Losing Science Brainpower Advantage”.  Where the author, Devin Powell, discussed a report that outlined the condition of our children’s ability to compete in the global markerplace.

The United States’ ability to compete globally in science and technology is on a “perilous path,” said a new report delivered Sept. 23 on Capitol Hill to a bipartisan group of policymakers, industry leaders, and academics.

American students continue to perform poorly in math and science compared to their counterparts abroad, the report claims. Though the United States is still a leader in innovation and produces a disproportionate share of the world’s wealth, other countries such as China are investing heavily in research and education and, according to the new report, threatening America’s competitiveness.

While many say that more government spending is needed to help our students become competitive, nothing could be further from the truth.  Government spending on education has outpaced the growth of the country, but the quality of education that the government is providing is slipping.

  • In 1980, federal, state and local government spent $152 Billion dollars on education which was about 5.5% of GDP
  • In 2010 usgovernmentspending.com is estimating that the government will spend $1.03 Trillion federal dollars on education or about 7.2% of GDP
  • Current projections have 2015 spending at $1.4 Trillion
*Source: http://usgovernmentspending.com

Spending has been rising since there has been spending on education.  Has education improved?  No.  Why would we continue to spend more?  Because we have been given no choice.

In a striking example of why government-paid employees should not be allowed to collectively bargain, teacher’s unions are bilking tax payers for money that should be going to actual education.  Most union labor agreements require that teachers get annual raises regardless of their performance – so-called “step raises”.  Did you get a raise this year simply because no one fired you?  Where is the incentive for teachers to become better teachers?  Other than the ludicrous step raises, a teacher’s best way to improve their salary is to become an administrator.  Wonderful, our kids will certainly become much better scientists and engineers as the education bureaucracy gets more top-heavy.

Teacher’s unions are negotiating with elected officials who will need the teacher’s unions to support them in the next election.  The elected officials will either give the unions what they want or face losing their positions to a new candidate that the union now sees as friendly.  It’s a scam and it’s your money.  Unionization of public employees is a conflict-of-interest.  Union support of elected officials is a conflict-of-interest.  Both practices must be abolished immediately.

Enter the “Disclose Act”, because it makes clear who is supporting whom, correct?  Not if the gigantic, tyrannical collection of supporters are .. you guessed it – Unions.  Unions are specifically given a pass in the disclose act.  They can continue strong-arming our elected officials into gifting them ridiculous salaries and benefits at our cost and a cost to our children’s education without any disclosure.

Homeschooling has grown 36% between 2003 and 2007, according to this article on Right Truth.  Parents have figured out the sham.   Americans are increasingly finding public education an oxymoron and are taking the matter into their own hands.   Private or Independent schools are certainly an attractive option, but considering the recession and Obama’s failure to support a voucher program, they can be a very expensive one.  Instead, parents are forced to pay the school taxes AND pay tuition at an independent institution – as if that weren’t the Department of Education’s plan all along.

So public education costs too much, the teacher’s unions have too much power, and our kids are now getting the worst education ever.  What is the department of education focused on?  Private education.  Arne Duncan’s troop of misfits is trying to shut down private education while the public sector is failing to perform its task.  Of course, we have to “follow the money”.  Private teachers are typically .. non-union.  Private education is not regulated in the same manner as public.  How long until they make private education unaffordable through over-regulation or make homeschooling illegal?

Even Obama admits that public schools are failing to properly educate our children.

In an appearance Monday morning on NBC’s “Today” show, Obama was asked by a woman in a television audience whether a public school in his home city could measure up to the standards of his children’s private school.

“I’ll be blunt with you: The answer is no right now,” the president replied. The D.C. public schools, he said “are struggling.”

Arne Duncan pushing the Stimulus Act in NY

Arne Duncan pushing the Stimulus Act in NY

At some point, someone has to be willing to re-do the public education system from the ground-up.  Unions need to be taken out of our kids’ classrooms.  Just like the economy, things in education are not getting better.  Obama has been summarily dismissing his economic and political staff.  Now, since Arne Duncan is pushing the status quo, President Obama, it’s time for him to go too.
