Choose Your Stimulus

The Spanish Economic Ministry denied there’s been a surge in withdrawals from the nation’s banks, while Spain’s Prime Minister warned that borrowing costs could reach “astronomical” proportions over fears about the weakness of Spain’s financial institutions.

Greeks have been taking their savings out of banks, with nearly a third taken out during this year’s first quarter. Since May 7th, at least 700m euros have been withdrawn from Greek banks. Uncertainty over Greece’s exit from the eurozone is stirring global fears about Europe’s monetary future.

France’s new socialist government will not ratify the European Union’s fiscal pact unless it contains stimulus provisions. “The treaty will not be ratified as is and that it must be completed with a chapter on growth, with a growth strategy,” said France’s new Finance Minister.

With a number of European countries again in recession, with zero growth in parts of the eurozone this year, calls for stimulus measures within Europe are growing.

Europe’s ideas about stimulating the eurozone economy will only lead the continent into deeper trouble. Taxing the rich, hiring more government employees and lowering the retirement age is not the way to create sustainable, long-term economic growth.

No matter how much money is raised through tax hikes, a portion of those funds are lost before they’re re-injected into the economy due to the cost of government overhead. That puts the stimulus process on negative footing before the discussion even turns to how the money’s to be spent, be it sending out welfare checks, funding food stamps or repaying political supporters by rewarding them with “shovel ready” government contracts.

Not that America should be overly concerned with Europe’s fate. Thanks to their scrupulous adherence to the dictates of political correctness and secular multiculturalism, they’ll be slaves to Sharia law in a few decades anyway.

America must learn from Europe’s mistakes.

Following down the path of taxing the rich, creating a cradle to grave entitlement society and continuous deficit spending in attempts to sustain a socialist utopian fantasy will destroy any country, including America.

Punitive taxing of the rich is a non-starter. Class envy warfare might be effective, emotionally charged rhetoric able to stir up a politician’s voter base, but it’s illogical. Were “those evil rich who don’t pay their fair share” in the U.S. to be taxed at a 100% rate, the revenue collected by the IRS would fund spending in Washington DC for a couple of months. Not years, a couple of months. How then would the government propose to pay for the rest of the year’s deficit spending? And after taxes have destroyed the wherewithal of the well off, who would then be taxed? Besides, rich folks, especially those engaging in successful business practices (as opposed to achieving wealth through inheritance or by winning the lottery) didn’t succeed because they’re imbeciles. If a country’s tax rates are unfavorable to their business, they leave that country and take their businesses, jobs and money with them. It’s not exactly climbing out on a limb to predict that a 100% tax rate would fall within their unfavorable category.

Creating a cradle to grave entitlement society is the best way to destroy initiative. It’s said that if you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach that man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. Imagine a group of one hundred people where only five know how to catch fish. In order to feed everyone every day, those five people would each need to catch twenty fish per day. How long would it take before some, if not all of those five fishermen grew tired of sharing their wealth with the other 95% and gave up fishing? On the other hand, if all the people were taught to fish and expected to catch their own, no individual would be responsible for catching more than one fish per day. If they managed to catch two fish per day, they will have created a surplus of wealth that benefits the entire group.

Continuing massive deficit spending obligates any nation’s budget to two unsavory alternatives. One is borrowing, which results in having to pay the money back with interest. Not only does being obligated to make those payments leave less money available to pay the cost of conducting regular business, it profits the lender to the detriment of the borrower. The other alternative is to devalue the currency by printing money, leading to inflation, which if left unchecked destroys the value of the country’s currency. Political instability caused by inflating the currency of the Weimar Republic led to the rise of Adolph Hitler. Shortages of hard currency led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.

America has a choice to make. Shall it follow the smaller government design, complete with reduced spending, lower taxes, a growing free market economy and individual freedom preferred by the law abiding, peaceful Tea Party, whose lineage can be traced back to 1969 when the world joined Americans in viewing the pinnacle achievement of human history, the televised first moon landing? Or should America follow the design of the law breaking, violent Occupy Wall Street, who’s lineage can be traced back to Woodstock, the other big event of 1969, where unbathed people ingested copious amounts of drugs and rolled around in the mud having sex like animals?

As Conservative innovator and outspoken leader Andrew Breitbart said at the 2012 CPAC Convention in February: “I don’t care who our candidate is. I haven’t since the beginning of this. I will march behind whoever our candidate is because if we don’t, we lose. There are two paths: one is America, the other one is Occupy. Anyone that is willing to stand next to me to fight the progressive left I will be in that bunker, and if you’re not in that bunker because you’re not satisfied with this candidate, more than shame on you, you’re on the other side.”

Expect the Institutionalized “progressive” Left to Come Out in Force

Comedian Bill Maher gave $1 million to one of President Obama’s SuperPACs. Actor Alec Baldwin’s on record saying that Obama’s re-election ‘In the Bag’. Lanny Davis, who writes for The Hill, is busy covering up for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder during Congressional investigations into the murder of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry and hundreds of Mexican citizens resulting from the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Fast and Furious gun-running scandal. MSNBC stopped inviting Conservative author Matt Lewis to contribute on-air after the site he works for, the Daily Caller, reported about the influence George Soros funded Media Matters for America wields over that Network. “Coincidentally”, Conservative pundit Pat Buchannan was also dropped by MSNBC around that same time.

As is always the case with any non-white or non-male Republican star, the institutionalized “progressive” left media is focused on Florida Senator Marco Rubio who, being a Hispanic from a crucial swing state, poses an existential threat to the re-election of Barack Obama. Not surprisingly, openly leftist actress Eva Longoria joined in the attack by saying “Marco Rubio has been coming up with some silly stuff that we really have to sort through”.

Meanwhile, the American mainstream media remains silent after a BarackObama speech where he joked: “I went to the speaker’s home town,” referring to a trip to House Speaker John Boehner’s battleground state of Ohio, “stood under a bridge that was crumbling.” Somebody in the crowd shouted, “Let him drive on it!”

Cue the sound of crickets.

This is the same press that had a field day back in 2008 when, on one or two occasions, a few folks attending McCain/Palin rallies shouted ugly comments from the crowd. These incidents were reported as major, top of the broadcast, front-page news. Repeatedly, with frequency and vigor.

During nationwide May Day demonstrations by OWS, occupiers themselves willing admitted that their protesters were taking marching orders from big labor and public service unions like the AFL-CIO and SEIU.

One of the leaders of the Occupy Cleveland movement, Brandon Baxter, was arrested for a terrorist plot to bomb a bridge in Cleveland Ohio. The plot has been directly linked to the Occupy movement. The names and the official complaint have been confirmed.

There were multiple incidences of violence around the country, with occupiers shouting the likes of “Pigs Go Home” and “Down with Capitalism”. With tear gas in Oakland, violence and vandalism in Seattle, SEIU members disrupting Los Angeles International Airport, with Occupiers calling themselves anarchists and hurling Molotov Cocktails; despite all evidence to the contrary, American taxpayer funded NPR is still calling the violent Occupy protests “restrained”.

By comparison, when the Tea Party was the topic de jour, Democrats and their “progressive” Party Pravda lapdogs were quick to blame the Tea Party for each and every violent incident around the country. More than one fringe leftist whack-job, impersonating responsible journalists on American television’s most irresponsible cable network, held Sarah Palin personally responsible for the Gabby Giffords shooting in Tucson Arizona. Their supposed rationale was her use of the word target when discussing campaign strategy. Never mind that in similar applications, the word “target” had been used frequently by members of the Democratic Party. Members of the institutionalized “progressive” left smear machine somehow forgot to inform the public that “target” was first used as political jargon by 1980 Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale’s political strategist Bob Beckel.

A review of the visitor’s log confirms that AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and former SEIU President Andy Stern have been frequent visitors to the White House. SEIU alone spent approximately $60.7 million to help elect Barack Obama to the White House in 2008. SEIU expects a return on their investment. Barack Obama was quick to embrace the Occupy movement when he saw his poll numbers sliding.

Before this November’s elections American voters should duly note such connections.

In case you haven’t noticed, or have yet to become fully convinced, bias within the institutionalized “progressive” left media is both very real and pervasive. With the presidential general election campaign about to get into full swing, expect it to get much, much worse. Truth coming from the institutionalized “progressive” left’s smear machine is as likely as them reporting that Elizabeth Warren can’t prove she has Cherokee blood in her veins.

The Tea Party vs The Status Quo

Much has been said since the November 2010 election about establishment Republicans co-opting Senators and Representatives elected with Tea Party support. What establishment Republicans evidently refuse to accept is, every Republicans elected in November 2010 owes huge thanks to the Tea Party. Establishment Republicans need to understand that Tea Party grassroots activists have had enough of their “learn your place and do as you’re told” attitude towards the Tea Party.

In America’s recent political past, there has been a Silent Majority. Establishment Republicans need to understand that the Tea Party is the Silent Majority. In plain spoken politically incorrect English, the institutionalized progressive left needs to realize that empty rhetoric about the term Silent Majority being code for racist is unfounded, utterly contemptible nonsense.

As the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, adopted in 1791 states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The Tea Party consists of concerned American citizens exercising their Constitutionally protected right to peaceably assemble and petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Despite Herculean efforts by the institutionalized “progressive” left to promote the false narrative that the Tea Party is filled with uneducated, violent, extreme, racist hillbillies, Tea Party goers are normal, average, everyday Americans who’re alarmed at America’s descent into an unconstitutional, uncontrollable, big government black hole.

Big government is taking America down an unsustainable path of continued deficit spending, crushing national debt, accelerated expansion of government programs, oppressive regulation, and ignorance of the looming costs for unfunded entitlement programs. Big government “progressives” continuously insist that the only “fair” way to balance the U.S. budget must include tax hikes. There’s no need for “progressives” to explain their agenda more clearly so Americans will understand. Americans do understand. Americans don’t like it and they don’t want it.

Republicans were swept into office at the expense of “progressive” Democrats as a direct result of the Tea Party’s unhappiness with the fringe radical leftist agenda as legislated by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the rest, then signed into law by the current White House occupant.

The Tea Party, the ones who’ve awoken America to the danger of losing a Constitutional Republic to a political system that rewards an “entitled” governing class at the expense of everyday Americans must be given the respect they deserve.

Establishment Republicans who seek to maintain the status quo with “progressive” Democrats are complicit with government expansion. Establishment Republicans as a group have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. For so long as they are able keep their seat at the table, they’ll be willing to compromise with “progressives”, thereby maintaining the illusion that the Republican vs Democrat political paradigm is still meaningful.

Open dialogue, communication and cooperation, urgently required to solve America’s challenges are welcome, but establishment Republicans must understand that for the Tea Party, there must be no compromise with people who see the U.S. Constitution and America’s free market enterprise system as the greatest roadblock to a New World Order.

Should establishment Republicans, as part of the governing class, continue “going along to get along” simply to maintain their grasp on power at the expense of We The People, that will be noticed as much as attempts by progressives to circumvent the will of the electorate. The Tea Party spoke on November 2, 2010. Don’t think for a moment that they won’t be ready to speak again in 2012 and beyond.

More obamacare Lies

“obamacare” was sold on a lie and passed against the wishes of the majority of Americans.

To make matters worse, in an unprecedented move, the man who administers Medicare and Medicaid was appointed in a clearly obvious move to bypass the Constitutional provision for Legislative oversight.

You won’t be keeping your healthcare and your doctor if you like them. There’s going to be a single payer system complete with rationing. It was sold as ”a robust public option” because that sounds so much better than death panel. However, if you listen to the words of the head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, you’ll see exactly where he stands on the subject.

Consider this bit of news reported by Investor’s Business Daily:

The strategy of hide and delay may have collapsed with a new Congressional Budget Office report that reveals that the current 10-year cost of ObamaCare is an astounding $1.76 trillion. That’s nearly double the $900 billion President Obama told a special session of Congress on Sept. 9, 2009, that ObamaCare would cost. He also claimed the “plan will not add to our deficit.”

The new projection is from 2013 to 2022, and when 2014 arrives and costs and taxes are in sync, the 10-year cost of ObamaCare is expected to be well in excess of $2 trillion. Fact is the administration has no clue and never had one concerning how much ObamaCare and its consequences would drive up costs, a fact grudgingly admitted to by Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services, under questioning by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.

Johnson noted that we were promised family premiums would drop by $2,500 once ObamaCare and its insurance exchanges were up and running. But the Kaiser Family Foundation has released a study saying that in anticipation of ObamaCare’s arrival, family premiums are up $2,200.

Healthcare is not a “human right”. It’s a commodity. It doesn’t matter if the government redistributes wealth to pay for the healthcare needs of the collective or if you pay for it yourself, it’s still bought and paid for. It’s still a commodity. Healthcare is NOT a right.

BTW, you’re born with rights that are God given. Government does not give your rights to you. As John F. Kennedy so eloquently stated in his 1960 inaugural address “The rights of man come not from the generosity of the State, but from the hand of God”.

Today’s “News”

Monday March 12, 2012…Today’s “news” begins with the headline: The Most Aired Political Campaign Ads.

A sub-headline reads: Obama’s “Unprecedented” commercial was shown 6,190 times before Super Tuesday.

At first, by mentioning campaign ads from multiple candidacies, this article flirts with the idea of integrity. A flirtation which disappointingly dissolves in the face of the ‘mention the favorite candidate’s ad first’ sub-headline. Will “progressives” explain why there’s no outcry against Dylan Stableford for stating “Barack Obama has spent $63 million, a little less than half of his $136 million war chest”? Weren’t terms like “war chest” supposed to be off limits because using politically incorrect terms like “war chest” leads directly to the shooting of member of Congress? Or does that standard only apply when Conservatives use such terms? Is it now fair to conclude that all “progressives” are allowed to speak and write freely, fearing not the cost of using “inflammatory language”? Do First Amendment Rights now fully apply to all “progressives”, not just lousy comedians who donate millions of dollars to “progressive” election campaigns?

Next comes the headline: Christie’s Public Shouting Match Shows He’s Not Ready For White House.

Kim Jascobs Walker wastes no time, plugging the phrase “Chris Christie again made headlines for losing his temper and insulting one of his constituents” into the first paragraph. Walker admits that the source, “Save Jersey” blogger Brian McGovern described constituent Bill Brown as “disrespectful”, but Walker makes no attempt to clarify whether Christie called Brown an idiot because of his question or because of a disrespectful approach. Walker criticizes Christie by alleging that “Any seasoned comedian could have handled a heckler better than Christie did”. One wonders, might Bill Maher be included among Walker’s comedians? Walker’s sojourn continues with the long espoused “progressive” slant that “Adults don’t really like it when politicians talk to them like they’re errant children.” Perhaps that statement explains why adult Conservatives don’t really like the way Obama, Reid and Pelosi speak to the nation’s Conservative majority. Walker continues: “Christie’s ‘because I said so’ attitude won’t play well with thinking people”, strongly indicating the “progressive” presumption that people who disagree with Christie think, while strongly implying that those who agree with Christie don’t. Walker concludes the final tirade with: “Christie needs to mature into a leader who can handle dissenting opinions before he sets his sights on the White House”. This statement reveals a key component of institutionalized “progressive” thought. In “progressive” minds, unless you’re willing to submit to their attempts to indoctrinate you to their philosophy, you’re closed minded. The possibility that you’re already familiar with their philosophy, have measured it against Conservative philosophy and decided to adhere to Conservative thinking seems beyond their comprehension.

Then comes: GOP race for White House is ‘corrosive”: Obama adviser

Of course Robert Gibbs, a long time Obama adviser would describe the GOP race as “corrosive”. That’s as predictable as the sunset. Why is this a headline? That’s easy to answer. As a news headline displayed along with similar headlines, it subliminally reinforces the “progressive” narrative propagated daily by the “progressive” Party Pravda that the GOP is bad and the “progressive” left is good.

Next there’s the headline: Reid says Democrats should retain Senate

Naturally the current Senate Majority Leader predicts that after November’s election the Democratic Party will retain control of the Senate. Even if every poll under the sun showed numbers contradicting his perception Reid would still state this view. Including this in the list of “headline news” is another clear example of the intent by the institutionalized “progressive” left to “nudge” undecided voters towards conclusions desired by George Soros and his myriad of puppets within the “progressive” Party and their cohorts in the “progressive” Party Pravda.

Two more “headlines” read:

Pelosi Dreams of Rush Being ‘Advertiseless’. Is advertiseless even a word, or something that came to Pelosi in the midst of a botox induced hallucination?

Sunday Shows: Reid Says ‘I think Congress Looks Bad’.

And Reid’s pulling every lever of power in the Senate to perpetuate that manufactured myth. BTW Senator Reid when is the Senate going to pass a budget?

Are you beginning to see the pattern here? Or shall we continue to flog this dead horse?

 

The Gettysburg Address Today

On June 1, 1865, Senator Charles Sumner commented on what is now considered the most famous speech by President Abraham Lincoln. In his eulogy on the slain president, he called it a “monumental act.” He said Lincoln was mistaken that “the world will little note, nor long remember what we say here.” Rather, the Bostonian remarked, “The world noted at once what he said, and will never cease to remember it. The battle itself was less important than the speech.”

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate — we can not consecrate — we can not hallow — this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.[1]

For reasons “progressives” will either deny or refuse to acknowledge, this speech seems especially relevant at this moment in history. Through a combination of political correctness, secular multiculturalism, victimhood and intentionally misinformative rhetoric, America is now as deeply divided as during the 1860s. Ironically, we’ve returned to this place of division due largely to actions taken by a man who sold his candidacy on a message of post-racial reconciliation. Equally ironic is how this man’s major political allies aid and abet the Marxist takeover of America by equating resistance to massive government intrusion into private lives with racism.

Obviously “progressives” need a history lesson.

In the presidential election of 1860, the Republican Party, led by Abraham Lincoln, campaigned against the expansion of slavery beyond the states where it already existed. The Republican victory in that election resulted in seven southern States declaring their secession from the Union prior to Lincoln’s taking office on March 4, 1861. It’s important here to note that secession was led and participated in by Democrats (read: “progressives”) who insisted on maintaining slavery as a legal American institution.

In September 1862, Republican Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation made ending slavery in the South a war goal. Confederate commander Robert E. Lee won battles in the east, but in 1863 his northward advance was turned back after the Battle of Gettysburg. Confederate resistance collapsed after Lee surrendered to Grant at the Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.

Reconstruction, which began early in the war and ended in 1877, involved a series of federal and state policies. The long-term result came in the three Reconstruction Amendments to the Constitution: the Thirteenth Amendment, which abolished slavery; the Fourteenth Amendment, which extended federal legal protections equally to citizens regardless of race; and the Fifteenth Amendment, which abolished racial restrictions on voting. The Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments were all passed without Democratic (read: “progressive”) support. In fact, they actively fought against all three Amendments.

Following the Civil War black leaders made substantial progress in establishing representation in the Republican Party. The first 100 black Congressmen elected to office were all southern Republicans. After Democrats (read: “progressives”) passed Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, literacy tests, and founded the KKK to intimidate and exclude blacks from public life, there wasn’t a single black elected to Congress for 75 years.

Besides excluding blacks from equal participation in public life, Democratic (read: “progressive”) white society also kept blacks in a position of economic subservience. When blacks fled the segregated south to live and work in the north, they were denied employment unless they agreed to join organized labor unions. In order to join a union, being a registered Democrat (read: “progressive”) was a requirement. The choice offered to blacks fleeing the south for employment in the “liberal” north was: become a Democrat (read: “progressive”) or you and your family will be left to starve in the streets. This was especially true during the FDR years.

Ever since black separatist Muslims assassinated Republican Christian Martin Luther King Jr. and LBJ hijacked the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s, Democrats (read: “progressives”) have lied to American blacks. They’ve falsely accused Republicans of being the oppressors of the black community.

History shows us that, unlike the Civil Rights legislation passed following the Civil War, which Democrats (read: “progressives”) fought, the 1960s Civil Rights legislation passed with significant Republican support. In fact, it never would have come to a vote in the Senate without the efforts of Republican Senator Everett Dirksen, who broke the Democratic (read: “progressive”) filibuster.

Through a persistent combination of political correctness, secular multiculturalism, victimhood, misrepresentation and misinformation, Democrats (read: “progressives”) have continued to abuse and manipulate blacks into voting Democrats (read: “progressives”) into office.

Upon review, the cities and states with the highest percentage of unemployment and the largest budget deficits, are all run by Democrats (read: “progressives”). Cities and states with the highest taxes and biggest spending are the most regressive places to live in America. Many of them are either already bankrupt or are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Impoverished blacks have been voting for Democrats (read: “progressives”) for the past fifty years are still poor. This should tell all Americans exactly what they need to know about “progressives” and their policies.

For the second time in history, Democrats (read: ”progressives”), for their own personal and political gain, are doing everything in their power to divide America along racial lines. They’ve drawn the battle lines and are now openly and arrogantly daring their opposition to stop full implementation of the “progressive” agenda. ”progressives” continue to lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate the masses in order to slake their unquenchable thirst for unrestrained power.

Once a cracker, always a cracker.

I pray to Almighty God that another Gettysburg Address will never become necessary. Should such an occasion again arise, as before, the responsibility will rest squarely upon the shoulders of “progressives”.

There’s so much empty, hateful “progressive” rhetoric in this “article” written by David Chalian it’s truly painful.

First Chalian begins his “article” with an openly biased headline (since once must not miss opportunities to repeat the “progressive”–the law is “controversial”–narrative) followed by repeated insinuations regarding Gov. Walker’s alleged lack of integrity.

For example: “In addition to trying to engender sympathy among voters for being targeted by forces outside his state” or “Walker is eager to sell himself as a politician with the courage of his convictions”.

Phrased in a calculated way so as to sound responsible, while intentionally planting seeds of doubt about Walker in the minds of undecided voters. Were Chalian capable of mustering a shred of journalistic integrity, he’d investigate and report the facts about the sources of money, organization and personnel being marshaled against Wisconsin’s Governor in this recall attempt. Instead, he’s being a “progressive” shill by taking sides.

“Walker is eager to sell himself as a politician with the courage of his convictions”? What politician or policy wonk doesn’t sell themselves to voters? The current White House occupant spends taxpayer money to fly around the country in Air Force One going to key battleground States to proclaim the “courage of his convictions” with staggeringly, alarming, unprecedented regularity. Where are the comparisons of Walker’s campaign pledges with his actions in office? Where are the facts, presented to a candid world, that shed light on the truth? That’s what rational, intelligent people expect from a bona fide reporter, not subliminal propaganda from a biased hit man.

As is typical of “progressive journalism”, facts can’t get in the way of strongly worded, emotional, rhetorical misrepresentation and misinformation.

A true journalist would ascertain whether or not the law is working in the way Gov. Walker describes. Tim Russert would have, but regrettably, journalistic integrity went to the grave in 2008 with the late moderator of Meet the Press. RIP Mr. Russert. We miss you.

A statement like: “America’s in need of economic solutions” is certainly far from a stretch. Many would say such a statement falls more into the “You have a firm grasp of the obvious” category.

The questions are:

Who will offer the solutions? What solutions will be offered? When is someone going to offer these solutions? Why are the solutions being offered the best solutions available? Where will the money come from to put these solutions into motion?

According to an Associated Press-GfK poll conducted February 16 to 20, 56% of Americans preferred cuts in government spending, compared to 31% who considered higher taxes as the best medicine.

With Social Security burdened by a growing $15.5 trillion in unfunded liabilities, with Medicare’s unfunded liabilities surpassing $81.6 trillion, plus an additional $20.5 trillion for Medicare Part D, there simply isn’t enough discretionary spending available to make the cuts necessary to get America out of debt. However, despite over $15 trillion in debt and unfunded liabilities exceeding $117.7 trillion, with America’s economy in the midst of a deep, long recession struggling to display a flicker of hope for a less than vibrant, jobless recovery, most economists agree that now is not the time to raise taxes.

The first order of business is to get the American economy growing.

Higher tax rates results in reduced profits to investors, thereby inhibiting capital investment. Reduced capital investment leads to economic contraction, resulting in fewer jobs and reduced tax revenue, which in turn tempts government to raise tax rates. In the face of lost private sector growth, Statists persist with the illusion that government spending stimulates economic growth. It didn’t work for FDR to end the Great Depression, and it resulted in a “Misery Index” during Jimmy Carter’s term in office. Government spending on “jobs creation” is inefficient. Not only is money wasted on unproductive pet projects, a portion of the revenue is lost before it ever hits the streets thanks to the cost of government overhead. The end result is less long term private sector growth and larger deficits, which in turn tempt the government to increase tax rates yet again. A downward spiral is set into motion.

Historically, the most efficient way to stimulate America’s economy has been to allow individuals and businesses to keep their own money by cutting taxes. When tax rates are reduced, the economy experiences sustained periods of growth. It worked when Calvin Coolidge reduced taxes in the 1920s. It worked when John Kennedy cut tax rates in the 1960s. It worked again when Ronald Reagan followed suit in the 1980s. Not only does cutting taxes create jobs, the increased revenues lower the government’s deficit. Despite businesses and individuals paying smaller percentages, thanks to economic growth, the IRS collects more revenue from a larger pool of taxpayers. Businesses enjoy profits which allow investments in expansion, which creates greater output, sales and profit, which in turn stimulate the need to hire new employees, who have more revenue to buy products created and produced within the private sector. An upward spiral is created.

Once the private sector economy is growing and providing new jobs, the next step is to cut government overhead.
First, government employee unions should be ended. Government employees could choose between keeping their jobs at private sector salaries or seeking employment elsewhere. Since unionized government employees make an average annual salary that’s $32,000 more than private sector employees doing the same jobs, the across the board savings would be considerable.

Second, with the exception of proven friends and allies, America should cut all foreign aid. Why does the United States borrow money from Communist China and allow the Federal Reserve to inflate its currency in order to give foreign aid to countries hostile to America?

Third, the United States should withdraw from the UN, stop paying dues to the organization, and expel them from American shores permanently. The UN was founded after World War II to prevent a third world war involving nuclear weapons. Since North Korea has and Iran is on the brink of deploying such weapons despite the existence of the UN, why does America allow dictators to come to the United States, grant them diplomatic immunity, then sit idly by while they insult Americans and the American way of life…on America’s dime? The UN is involved in programs and regulations that go so far beyond its original mandate that continuing to fund and be a member of this organization is no longer in the best interests of the United States.

Fourth, cut all government subsidies. With the exception of being the referee as required, government should not be involved in the free market system. Government subsidies interfere with the free market principles of supply and demand, and are being kept alive by corruption breeding special interest groups.

Fifth, defund and dismantle government departments that have proven to be costly and ineffective. The quality of America’s education has declined steadily the Department of Education was established. Additionally, centrally planned curriculum has allowed “progressive” infiltrators to use the Department as a means to indoctrinate generations of American youth to their Marxist agenda. The Department of Energy was founded during the Jimmy Carter Administration with the expressed goal of making America less dependant on foreign energy. The results have been the exact opposite of the stated goal. America is more dependent on foreign energy than ever before. Why is this failure still being funded?

There are other big government programs that feast on the national treasury that can also be eliminated. Among these are the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Homeland Security. At a time of pending fiscal crisis, surely it’s to America’s advantage to free itself of the weight and expense of these bloated bureaucracies.

This is the pathway to reducing America’s annual budget deficits. But what of those looming unfunded liabilities? The inevitable conclusion is that that major reforms are needed in the way Social Security and Medicare function.

When Social Security was established, the age of eligibility was 65. At that time, the average life span of an American male was 58, while women lived to an average age of 62. Combine that life expectancy and eligibility age, factor in people making Social Security payments for the duration of their working careers and the original system was financially solvent.

Today, the average lifespan of men is now 73, while women live to be an average age of 79. Combine this longer duration of payout with the increase in eligible recipients that is resulting from the maturation of the baby boomer generation and there is clearly going to burden the existing system. The age of eligibility should be adjusted to conform to our increased life expectancy. This same revised actuarial formula should be applied to Medicare.

Additionally, no payments should be made to those who have not paid into the system. This would apply to all foreign nationals. If a foreign national is working legally within America, they won’t be responsible for paying in, because they won’t be eligible to collect. If they’re here illegally, they shouldn’t be on anyone’s payroll to begin with.

This is by no means a complete list. More needs to be done, but this is a place to start the conversation. The debt America has and continues to accumulate is an existential threat to the United States. To mortgage the well being of future generations in order to postpone the inevitable is not only irresponsible and dishonorable, it would be the first time a generation of Americans chose to leave the country a worse place for their children than was the one they inherited. All to spare themselves the pains of growing up.

While it may be correct to fight unconstitutional actions by this administration through continued pursuit of these specific issues, it might be wiser to focus on the bigger picture.

 He has violated the individual liberties of all our people by imposing forced participation in a government healthcare regulatory system without our consent.
 He has collaborated with his Attorney General to ignore equal protection under the law in favor of selective protections based upon arbitrary factors.
 He has violated American bankruptcy laws by willfully denying secured bond holders first payment, in favor of unsecured political supporters.
 He has violated the Constitution by accepting the position of Chairmanship of the UN Security Council.
 He has ignored the Constitutional separation of power by appointing “czars” to oversee matters that are intended to be handled by the legislative branch of the government.
 He has violated the First Amendment right to freedom of the press, by attacking television and radio networks, stations and broadcasters while attempting censorship.
 He has violated the individual’s right to free speech through creation of an email address to report Citizens in a blatant attempts to silence dissent through intimidation.
 He has violated the Law by ignoring the War Powers Act and engaging the United States military in overseas hostilities without the consent of Congress.
 He has violated the First Amendment by attempting to impose restrictions on free speech through implementation of Net Neutrality by the FCC.
 He has endeavored to interfere in the free market through the imposition of The Clean Energy and Security Act, which mandates carbon emissions be reduced to 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, 42 percent by 2030, and 84 percent by 2050. By 2020, this tax will extract an estimated $160 billion from the economy, or an average $1,870 per family.
 He has violated the Constitution by having the government offer $4,500 rebates to people for turning in older motor vehicles for newer vehicles
 He has interfered in America’s free market by having the National Labor Relations Board sue a privately owned company for planning to open for business in a State that protects an employee’s ability to work free of forced union membership.
 He has interfered in the free market by imposing restrictions and regulations on petroleum, natural gas and coal production in the United States.
 He has abandoned enforcing the security of American borders and protected illegal immigrants from prosecution for violation of immigration laws:
 He has abandoned and insulted our most enduring and faithful allies through speech and action, the most glaring among these being placing the State of Israel on the list of nations that foster terrorism.
 He has sought to impose additional taxes on us without our Consent.
 For depriving us in some cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:
 For transferring billions of dollars to enemies of the United States through Foreign Aid.
 For ignoring the Constitutional separation of powers by publicly attacking the Supreme Court of the United States.
 For attacking America’s bedrock family values by ordering the Department of Justice to not defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act.
 For repeated attacks upon America’s Christian foundation.
 For repeatedly slandering American Citizens with false accusations of racism, violent tendencies and hatred.
 For grossly accelerating and increasing the amount of America’s debt through passage of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, which had negligible effect on unemployment, sent billions of dollars overseas and wasted billions domestically bailing out States practicing irresponsible budgetary policies.
 For putting America and America’s allies at greater risk through cancellation of missile defense systems.
 For expanding the need for enormous increases in government borrowing,
 For collaborating with his Attorney General to try enemy combatants in civilian Courts.
 For collaborating with his Attorney General and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in the implementation of operation Fast and Furious, which has been implicated in the murder of American Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
 For devaluing our currency by engaging in the practice of Quantitative Easing, allowing the Federal Reserve to purchase trillions of dollars of our national debt.

The list could continue, but you get the idea.

A President whose character is thus marked by acts which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to govern a free people.

Battle Lines Drawn: Patriot Volunteers Needed

Last night I watched the movie “The Patriot” with Mel Gibson as Benjamin Martin and Heath Ledger as his son Gabriel. If you haven’t seen it, the movie is about a man at the beginning of the Revolutionary War who just wants to mind his own business and stay out of the fighting. He had fought in the French and Indian War, and had seen enough fighting and killing to last him for the rest of his life. He wanted to live in peace, nothing more. As much as he tried to remain neutral, the war came to him in the form of terror tactics used by British soldiers against his family and neighbors.

One very striking scene was when Gabriel entered a church in a small South Carolina village asking for volunteers. He told them he needed help. No one moved until one young woman stood up and chastised the men for being all talk and no action. She pointed out how each of them had talked about freedom but now that the time had come to put their words into action they were hesitant to do so. Paralyzed by fear, they were willing to live in slavery rather than fight. As she spoke, heads hung in shame. One by one the men stood, volunteering to serve their fledgling nation in its time of need.

Men who wanted nothing more than to live their lives in peace and tend to their families rose to defend their homes from a government that threatened their liberty and their right to live in peace and freedom. They took up their arms and followed their destiny to eventual freedom for the thirteen original colonies, the future United States of America. They didn’t fight for a country, they fought for their homes, their farms, and the freedom to live in peace and support their families. Many of them died, never seeing the eventual result of their actions.

Another scene near the end of the movie was a reenactment of the Battle of Cowpens. A black man who had been offered freedom if he would serve in the Continental Army for 12 months stood beside a white man who had ridiculed him for being a slave expecting freedom. The white man said, “It has been more than 12 months, you are free”. The black man responded, “I am not here for that now, I am here of my own free will”. The white man who had been such a jerk earlier then said, “I am honored to be standing here with you, honored”.

This is what our nation is about. We are patriots; white, black, brown, red, yellow, it doesn’t matter. Whatever our skin color, whatever our ancestry may be, we are here of our own free will to stand together for freedom from a tyrannical government. Today we are activists of a sort; writing, voting, calling, faxing, and telling our government in face to face town hall meetings that We the People are fed up and want real change. We want our country back and will accept nothing else. We demand government Of the People, BY the People, and FOR the People.

The time may very well come when this isn’t enough and, like those in the early days, we will be required to do more. Some may have to lay their lives down for the freedom of others. Some may pay the ultimate price and never see the freedom they will have won with their sacrifice. For 235 years Americans have been risking and losing their lives to preserve the freedom of others; some here at home, some in far away lands.

We strive to avoid that calamity and to restore our nation through prayer and honoring God first, but also by being part of a freedom movement. We are working through the political system given to us by God and our founding fathers to effect the needed changes in government.

Millions of American citizens are taking the same actions. The TEA Party rallies are a prime example of patriotic American citizens working to restore the values espoused by our founders. TEA Party people are patriots, giving of themselves to make our nation a better place for all. They work regular jobs yet find time to get together on weekends to voice their opinions and to let government know that the status quo isn’t acceptable. These are the people who give of themselves without expecting anything in return. They are respectful of property, police, each other, and above all The Constitution. This is American exceptionalism at its finest.

This is America. We the People; with common values, faith in God, a concern for each other, a desire to help our neighbors in times of need, and a decency that some just can’t understand. Those who can’t understand this basic human decency call conservative patriots names like teabaggers, racists, Nazis, bigots, homophobes, islamophobes, etc. They can’t accept patriotic Americans because they don’t have the Godly personal values of America in them.

Like Benjamin Martin, we will not be allowed to remain neutral and untouched by the coming tyranny. Those who sit back and think they can ride out the storm are in for a rude awakening. Many Jews and Christians thought they could remain peaceful and passive in Nazi Germany. America’s future will find those same kind of people enslaved, imprisoned, or slaughtered. None of us will be allowed to live in peace, even those who fully support a dictator. Only the ultra wealthy, and those in positions of power such as Congress, bureaucrats, and judges will be allowed to survive intact; and then only if they acquiesce to the tyrannical ruler. The rest of us will be subjected to poverty, imprisonment, torture, and death regardless of political opinion.

As I look around today I see America everywhere I look. I see men, women, and children of all colors, all economic levels, all faith denominations coming together for a common goal; the restoration of the Constitution and the America given to us by God and our founding fathers. It won’t be easy but nothing worth while ever seems to be easily attainable.

The battle lines have been drawn by those who are determined to subjugate the citizens of the United States under a dictatorial oligarchy involving both political parties. Those few in Congress who stand with We the People need our support. Until now our actions have been within peaceful and civil means, and hopefully that will be enough to stem the tide of tyranny. If not, citizens must be willing to stand against the tyranny whatever the cost may be.

The anarchists on the left intend to destroy what is left of freedom with riots of unprecedented proportion during the summer and fall. Billionaire George Soros and his operatives have been very open about what they intend to accomplish. The G-8 summit and the conventions of both political parties are going to be targeted by people intent on installing martial law and dictatorship. The Occupy Wall Street crowds are mere pawns in a sinister plan to establish a dictatorship that will affect all citizens. If these plans are successful elections are questionable. A Democrat governor and several members of Congress have already called for the suspension of elections and the Constitution. They are serious about subjugating We the People.

We the People, the many millions who understand and appreciate American values, must pull together to return this great nation to what John Winthrop described in the 1700’s as “a shining city on a hill”. A nation established by great men with a vision from God and a courage that lives today in the hearts and minds of true American patriots will live on. We owe this to those who have gone before and those still to come.

The battle lines have been drawn by those who seek unlimited power over American citizens. They will not back down. Where do you stand? Will you be one who sits idly by while your neighbors are sent to internment camps or will you be one of those who will stand when needed to “protect and defend” the Constitution of the United States of America and your liberty?

The “progressive” War on Christianity

This past week, Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced a decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood. Their decision was based on the fact that to a large measure, the business of Planned Parenthood is abortion. A determination substantiated by a statistical analysis of Planned Parenthood’s services.

Planned Parenthood continues to insist that they provide badly needed healthcare services to low income women. Never mind that 38.4% of Planned Parenthood health center income comes directly from aborting unborn children. This may come as quite the shock to Americans whose political views reside on the left end of the spectrum, but pregnancy is not a disease. Abortion doesn’t cure anything. In the caring, non-savage world, reproductive healthcare means keeping expectant mothers and their unborn babies healthy, not killing the unborn babies.

This became a huge, front-page news story that led the nightly national television news cycle. Public pressure from left wing politicians like Nancy Pelosi and “progressive” activist groups managed to coerce The Komen Foundation into reversing their courageous decision. The politicizing of this decision was clearly out of bounds, since The Komen Foundation is a private organization that is free to operate their charity as they see fit. This is yet another example of the “mainstream” media’s persistent pattern of aiding and abetting leftist positions.

Prior to that, ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC all ignored the Department of Health and Human Services decision that by Aug. 1, religiously inspired hospitals, schools and charities that hire outside their faith must offer insurance coverage for sterilization, abortifacients and contraceptives without deductibles or co-pays. What this means is, the Catholic Church will be forced to either comply with a Congressional law prohibiting the free exercise of their religion, a clear violation of the First Amendment, or close down hospitals, universities and charities. That the media would fail to report on this unconstitutional power grab by the United States government stands in stark contrast to their open eagerness to defend “progressive” agenda items like abortion.

But the blame doesn’t reside solely within the “progressive” Party Pravda. If you’re a pro life Christian who voted for “progressive” politicians and their empty promises of hope and change, you are partly to blame for their war on Christianity.

The remedy is both simple and obvious. In November 2012 “progressive” politicians must be voted out of power.

Harris Poll: Republicans could lose the House

The media has a “laser-like” focus on the GOP presidential nomination race, analysts are starting to talk about the Senate races, but the House has been all but ignored – and that could lead to another Nancy Pelosi speakership.

According to a new Harris Interactive Poll, a House election held today would have voters selecting a generic Republican 38% of the time and a generic Democrat just as often.

The data break-outs are where the interesting numbers lay. While almost 90% of GOP would vote for their party’s candidate, just 80% of Democrats would. That disparity alone should yield a right-leaning House.. shouldn’t it?

For the right, the key is independents. They would vote for a Democrat 28% of the time compared to 26% of the vote going to the GOP. 15% of independents would vote 3rd party and 30% of them haven’t even figured out how they would vote.

Congressional approval ratings are also at an historical low which could lead to an anti-incumbent campaign to turn the whole House over. Considering that Democrats have a 13% approval and Republican members only enjoy a 10% rating, a blood bath may ensue for the GOP.

The poor rating for Republicans may by in part by dissatisfaction from the TEA parties. The freshman conservative group that was elected in 2010 was sent to D.C. to cut spending, lower taxes and reduce the size of government. Little of that having been achieved and the back-room tactics being used by the GOP leadership to co-opt the movement may be more  reason for the backlash.
