Rand Loves The Drones? Not Quite…

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has learned another key lesson of the “age of sound bytes.” During an appearance on Neil Cavuto’s Fox Business Network show, Paul pointed out he didn’t mind using drones or any kind of technology against an “imminent threat,” whether it was a terrorist or “someone coming out of a liquor store with a weapon and 50 dollars in cash.” He also said it didn’t matter if it was a cop or a drone who killed the criminal. To fans of his father, ex-Texas Congressman Ron Paul, the reaction was fast and it wasn’t pretty.

Rand Paul was called someone who was “bullsh—tting,” a “politician” (which he is), someone who supported “the militarizing of police” and someone who needed to get away from neoconservatives because they were “rotting your brain.” Even Matt Drudge threw up the clever headline, “RAND LEARNS TO LOVE THE DRONE!”

However, people are ignoring the second half of his quote. Paul specifically said it was different if a drone wanted to go over someone’s hot tub or yard just to look at you. Even when Cavuto asked what if police were searching for a criminal and accidentally found something “bad,” Paul didn’t budge. He said no one should be looking into someone’s backyard and didn’t want surveillance when there wasn’t “probable cause.” Paul made it very clear police must have a warrant to use a drone, unless there was a “killer on the loose” or someone “running around with a gun.”

This is very similar to what he said during his 13 hour filibuster and the comments he made afterward. It’s also part of the no domestic drone strike legislation he and Texas Senator Ted Cruz co-sponsored. Drones can only be used on “dangerous criminals” and people who poses an “imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury” to another person. So Paul is being consistent.

There are still problems with how Paul worded what he said. The definition of a “dangerous criminal” may mean someone like the Boston terrorists, who engaged in an active shootout with police. But, as Paul pointed out in his filibuster, the Fusion Center of Missouri considers “dangerous criminals” as people who have pro-life bumper stickers, people who may want more border security, support third party candidates or might be in the Constitution Party. Unless the “dangerous criminal” terminology is strictly defined, the use of drones by governments on American soil could end up being as slippery of a slope as warrant-less wiretapping. Even with the strictest of definitions, it may not be worth it, despite how awesome the technology is.

By making broad comments on an issue, Paul giving potential political enemies more ammunition against him. It also disappoints his supporters and those who consider him a “political hero.” Plus, the liquor store example is a bad example, which Paul realized. He made it clear in a statement he released Tuesday. After all, hindsight is 20-20.

There may be ways to figure out how people in the private sector (i.e. farmers) could use drones, without raising questions about privacy. Drone countermeasures are already being developed and sold to those who can afford it. That may be the ultimate solution.

But in the end, Lucius Fox may have it right when he raised questions about technology Bruce Wayne developed in The Dark Knight. Even when it was obvious Batman could use a city-wide tracking device to find the Joker, Fox said, “No one should have it,” because the tracker could be abused.

It may be time for us to listen to Lucius Fox on drones. Cool technology, but not worth using.

Are All Democrats, Politicians and Their Voters, Marxists?

Diane FeinsteinThis past week the Senate Judiciary Committee passed Sen. Diane Feinstein’s gun control measure that outlaws more than 150 different firearms by a strictly party line (10-8) vote, despite a 2nd Amendment that clearly says “shall not be infringed”.  It doesn’t say “some firearms can be infringed”, or “some magazines can be infringed”; it says “shall not be infringed”.  State legislatures in California, Illinois, New York, and now Colorado have all passed some sort of gun control measures that clearly go against the Constitution, the 2nd Amendment, and the intentions of our Founding Fathers.

I often wonder what happened to the “Blue Dog Democrats” who were so vocal and so visible during the TEA Party rallies in 2009/2010.  Where have these “champions of freedom” in the Democrat Party gone?  When their re-election was in danger they were more than happy to stand up and deny any support of Democrat Party Marxism.  Now??? Crickets!!!!

I know of no Democrat in Congress, or any state legislature, that has stood up in the last few years and defended the Constitution, as written by our founders.  Are there no Americans left in the Democrat Party?  Are all of them determined to destroy our Republic and replace it with a dictatorship as long as it is led by their party?  Is party loyalty so intense that they are willing to let a 237 year history of liberty and self-determination go down the tubes for the sake of a political party? John F. Kennedy

What happened to the Democrat Party of my childhood, the Democrat Party led by John F. Kennedy?  Kennedy believed in low taxes; and valued the 2nd Amendment, self-determination, and the responsibility of American citizens to stand on their own two feet and make a life for themselves and their families. And, above all, JFK valued liberty. The following quotes from JFK reveal his thoughts on America and what our way of life means.

“A tax cut means higher family income and higher business profits and a balanced federal budget…. As the national income grows, the federal government will ultimately end up with more revenues. Prosperity is the real way to balance our budget. By lowering tax rates, by increasing jobs and income, we can expand tax revenues and finally bring our budget into balance.”

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

“Every time that we try to lift a problem from our own shoulders, and shift that problem to the hands of the government, to the same extent we are sacrificing the liberties of our people.”

“By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fear of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the 2nd amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationship, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason I believe the 2nd Amendment will always be important.”

Today’s Democrat Party is the polar opposite of JFK.  They endeavor to strip We the People of the rights given by God and guaranteed by Demomcrat Logothe Constitution in the Bill of Rights.  JFK would never sit in a Judiciary Committee meeting and tell citizens we don’t have the right to defend ourselves from criminals, or from a tyrannical government.  Read he last quote again.  He would never tell us we must either turn in our weapons or have them confiscated to “protect us” from each other.

I have often written, in criticizing the Republican Party, that JFK would not be able to win the nomination to be the party’s presidential candidate in 2008 or 2012 because he would be too conservative.  If the Republican Party has gone that far left and is considered the party of “right wing extremists” by Democrats, what does that say for the Democrat Party?  I know good people, delusional but good, who are Democrats.  How is it they can vote for today’s Democrat Party and stand by those who seek to strip them of their rights as they strip mine from me.  Do thAfraid to speak against tyrannyey believe that they are going to be allowed to have guns just because they register with the right political party?

Are Democrat voters so naive or so downright stupid that they think their party will only destroy the basic rights of citizens who are not Democrats and not also apply that destruction to them?  Can anyone really be that clueless?  I find it almost impossible to believe that out of 55 Democrats in the Senate there are none who will stand up for liberty as outlined by John F. Kennedy.  Am I to understand that not one of them, nor any in the House of Representatives, will stand against the clearly Marxist leadership of their party and put the freedom of their children and grandchildren ahead of the agenda of people who are undoubtedly seeking the destruction of our Republic to Bible, flag, guns, Our rightsreplace it with a dictatorship, ala Hugo Chavez?

I know there are a lot of Republicans, such as Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, and others who are willing accomplices in the destruction of America but at least there are some who stand for the Constitution.  Are there no Ted Cruz or Rand Paul type Senators in the Democrat Party?  Are there no Louie Gohmert, Ted Poe, Jim Bridenstine, Tim Huelskamp, Justin Amash, Jason Chaffetz type Democrats in the House of Representatives?

What has happened to the Democrat Party?  I can only assume that every voter who casts a ballot for a Democrat believes in tyranny and absolute power coming from the party elitists in Washington D C (De Cesspool).  Can nEagle- America Deserves Bettero Democrat voter see where these people are taking their nation?  I find this distressing to a level I don’t know how to describe.  If people who I believe are upstanding patriotic Americans can go into the voting booth and choose people like Charles Schumer, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, Sheila Jackson Lee, Hank Johnson, Charles Rangel, Nancy Pelosi, etc. is there any hope for our nation?

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.
