The media tells us how we “deserve” anything and everything we desire, and that whatever we want should be provided for us by someone else. Unfortunately it is working all too well. These people are trampling on the very fabric of our nation and pulling the rug of freedom right out from underneath us while millions sit around and watch the latest rage in “I Got’s Some Talent” nonsense.
Kinchlow quite aptly describes the treatment and even the “labeling” of conservative elements in society today by the media, and the politicians they pay to control us with laws and regulations. Isn’t profiling and labeling wrong according to these very media brainiacs? Everything the founders stood for is ridiculed at the very least. Most of the values of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and the others are totally derided or ignored by the media and the politicians. Anyone espousing anything decent, honest, traditional, or earned is ridiculed and intimidated into silence by bullies and tyrants. And don’t you dare bring any mention or glimpse of anything remotely Christian.

Time Magazine comes out and says Catholic bishops should be put in prison for expressing their outrage at the latest example of dictatorial bullying in the Sebelius rule about abortion and religious facilities (a part of Obamacare no one mentioned in the highlight reels of the campaign). That is some nice “freedom of speech” stance by that veritable Communist rag. “Thank You 3rd Rail” for the staunch defense of freedom of speech for all. Now, back to “I Got’s Some Talent”.

And while America is focused on the latest “talent” show serial, the politicians are flowing with this politically correct nonsense and passing laws and regulations, including involving our very use of language (“Hate Crimes” legislation comes to mind). More “feel good”, “let’s stop bullies” legislation, yeah!!! But it doesn’t stop the bullies, it only encourages them. The bullies are the ones deciding what is bullying and what is “freedom of speech”.

When you see there the money is and where it goes in KInchlow’s article you begin to find a pattern. The unions, and Wall Street / “K” Street tycoons make and spend their money in the same places. Look at the money spent by politicians and their backers to buy media time, some of it even acknowledged as political ads. Go research some more and broaden your horizons. This is one big circle of financial deals that doesn’t include us “commoners”. This benefits the REAL 1%’ers, and it really isn’t that hard to see if you look.

Take a real close look at the Republican candidate debates. The “moderators” can’t find anything more important than who is going to pay for condoms for whom? The candidates all wring their hands and say we have to be “compassionate”, and “we need to be inclusive”, yada yada yada. We are being played by a very elaborate system of bait and switch, and we are being played by professionals. This is what they do, con good hearted people into doing what is desired by the baiters. It is a mob mentality of “attack the one who doesn’t conform”. Isolate, Denigrate, Destroy. Make an example of one to keep millions in line.

Your freedoms are being spirited away right under your noses. Anyone who stands up and speaks out against this activity is pounced on by the wolves in an instant. Look at the treatment given “Joe the Plumber”, Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, and countless others who have had the audacity to stand in defiance of the media and their left-wing politicians (both parties included here).

And notice how few of the “staunch conservatives” in the Senate stand with Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn when it comes time to start giving some semblance of control back to the citizens. The House of Representatives is even worse. Leadership of both parties in both houses of Congress is corrupt and playing us every day by cheap talk and actions opposite of what they promised us to get elected.
Once again the Republican Party trots out a bunch of current or former politicians, the same lame ones who have had a hand in ruining our nation, and tells us we better “pick one of them or our nation is lost”. “Anyone but Obama, as long as it is one of these guys”. Go back as far as Gerald Ford and see if I am right (guess who didn’t want Ronald Reagan). And then all the “conservative” talking heads come on and tear anyone who does not fit their agenda to pieces, i.e., Herman Cain. “Conservatives need not apply” is the message from those running the Republican Party and its propaganda arm in the media. Of course, the Democrat Party and their large propaganda subsidies are more than happy to assist in the character assassination of anyone remotely conservative in any value. Oh, by the way, “truth need not apply” either.

Each candidate is the “only one” that can solve our nation’s woes and “if we don’t vote for him we are doomed” We the People are also told, by the same media people mentioned earlier, that Republicans better nominate Mitt Romney, not so affectionately known here as Mitty the Poo, or “all is lost”. What a line of crap; but out trots John McCain to endorse Mitty. “He lost to me last time so it is his turn for the limelight”. “Mitty is my ‘Jimmy Carter’ moment”. “Thanks, Mitty”. “He will lose worse than I did and I will be off the hook as the worst candidate ever”.

Now, back to “I Got’s SomeTalent”. In the meanwhile politicians are busy tightening controls on internet information. We saw what they did to the TV broadcasts a few months back. They haven’t quite managed to totally control the internet yet but they are very close, watch for March 8th. Those intent on taking total control of everything in America are dependant that citizens continue to be enamored with the latest cutsey talent show while they destroy your very way of life.

Are you aware of how society used to be in Cuba, pre-Castro? Not the way it is portrayed in the media, but the REAL society of Cuba. There were rich, there were poor, and there was the middle class. After Che Guevara and Fidel Castro were finished there were only very rich and very poor. The ultra wealthy paid Castro for protection, or left the island. Those without the assets to pick up and move to America had everything they owned taken by the government. Homeowners were pushed out of their homes and business owners were pushed out of their businesses by bureaucrats. Those who worked to earn the wages for a decent income were forced to become slaves because the “benevolent rulers” decided that poverty was a good lifestyle, it was equal for everyone. Of course, that “everyone” didn’t include the Castro brothers and their friends.

Ladies and Gentlemen of America, you are being played for suckers by people with evil intent. Once you have frittered all of your rights away you will be cannon fodder for tyrants. These tyrants are in both political parties. When “I Got’s Talent” is no longer needed to distract you it will go away and you will be left with a situation you really don’t want. But by then it will be too late to do anything about it, the barn door will have been shut, the trap door will have come down.

We don’t have to fall for this and lose the republic our founding fathers forged with their courage and their blood. There is time, there are solutions but it is up to We the People to implement those solutions. I have some thoughts, Next!!!!!

We constantly hear commentaries suggesting we are a democracy, for that reason it would seem prudent to repeat it over and over again that we are not. But of equal importance is the understanding of what we are (were meant to be) and the sippery slope we traveling on. Modern America in its haste for tolerance and understanding for all has drifted away from our core beliefs and our individual liberties as protected by the Constitution. Individual freedom and liberty were at the forfront of the founders mindset, these rights were put into place in an effort to protect our individual rights and freedoms, they did not intend to dictate rights and liberties for the masses as a whole.

As a free people we need to formulate our own opinions, thus, it is crutial for us to have a clear and precise understanding regarding the differences between a democracy and a republic as stated in the Constitution of the United States of America. The vast majority of American’s have no idea that the United States is a Republic. How many people do you hear saying, “We are a democracy. We are a democratic nation?” They have no idea we undergoing a change that will have an adverse effect on generations of the future. Our rights as we have believed them to be, are being taken away one by one, as government continues to grow and inform us of what is in our best interest. Can you name an area where the government has not intruded? You can’t, because our governement has infiltrated all aspects of daily life – banking, auto, finance, health care, the family, what we eat where we go what we drive, and so on. What does that mean? If we contiue to travel down the road of discourse and turn a blind eye on the disemination of our Constitution, then the rights we presume to have will continue to become non-exsistant. In the event the people decide to wake up and see the big picture it may be to late. Our founders never intended to create an entitlement society whereby the governement continues to grow and interfer with rights and liberties of individuals as it is currently doing.

4 USC § 4 – Pledge of allegiance to the flag; manner of delivery:

“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

The Constitution guarantees to every state a Republican form of government. Article IV, Sec. 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Applicaions of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

The United States is moving down a dangerous path toward a global democracy. This was never the intent of the Founders and for good reason. Gary McLeod wrote and interesting piece on the subject Republic vs. Democracy. Just after the completion and signing of the Constitution, in reply to a woman’s inquiry as to the type of government the Founders had created, Benjamin Franklin said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Not only have we failed to keep it, most don’t even know what it is. A Republic is representative government ruled by law (the Constitution). A democracy is direct government ruled by the majority (mob rule). A Republic recognizes the inalienable rights of individuals while democracies are only concerned with group wants or needs (the public good). Our constitution was written with the focus on approval from our three branches of government with regard to making laws. The process was meant to be a slow because illegal democracy occurs on a regular basis by “requiring approval from the whim of the majority as determined by polls and/or voter referendums.

Democracies always self-destruct when the non-productive majority realizes that it can vote itself handouts from the productive minority by electing the candidate promising the most benefits from the public treasury. To maintain their power, these candidates must adopt an ever-increasing tax and spend policy to satisfy the ever-increasing desires of the majority. As taxes increase, incentive to produce decreases, causing many of the once productive to drop out and join the non-productive. When there are no longer enough producers to fund the legitimate functions of government and the socialist programs, the democracy will collapse, always to be followed by a Dictatorship (McLeod).

Although many politicians, teachers, journalists and citizens all believes our Founders created a democracy, that simply isn’t accurate. The Founders knew full well the differences between a Republic and a Democracy and they repeatedly and emphatically said that they had founded a republic. So I repeat, Article IV Section 4, of the Constitution “guarantees to every state in this union a Republican form of government”…. Conversely, the word Democracy is not mentioned even once in the Constitution. Madison warned us of the dangers of democracies with these words, “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths…”, “We may define a republic to be a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is essential to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion or a favored class of it; otherwise a handful of tyrannical nobles, exercising their oppressions by a delegation of their powers, might aspire to the rank of republicans and claim for their government the honorable title of republic.” James Madison, Federalist No. 10, (1787). Time and time again we warned about the dangers of a democracy, yet the business of our daily lives perpetuates the depletion of the Constitution as we know it. “A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority. There is but little virtue in the action of masses of men.” Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

In the past, our military training manuals used to contain the correct definitions of Democracy and Republic. The following comes from Training Manual No. 2000-25 published by the War Department, November 30, 1928.

DEMOCRACY:
A government of the masses.
Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of “direct” expression. Results in mobocracy.
Attitude toward property is communistic–negating property rights.
Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

REPUBLIC:
Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.
Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.
A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy.
Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.
Is the “standard form” of government throughout the world.

The manuals containing these definitions were ordered destroyed without explanation about the same time that President Franklin D. Roosevelt made private ownership of our lawful money (US Minted Gold Coins) illegal. Shortly after the people turned in their $20 gold coins, the price was increased from $20 per ounce to $35 per ounce. Almost overnight F.D.R., the most popular president this century (elected 4 times) looted almost half of this nation’s wealth, while convincing the people that it was for their own good. Many of F.D.R.’s policies were suggested by his right hand man, Harry Hopkins, who said, “Tax and Tax, Spend and Spend, Elect and Elect, because the people are too damn dumb to know the difference” (Mcleod).

As everyone knows this is an election year. But this year is more important than ever before because our Constitution and all it stands for is at stake. Polititians will continue with the status quo as they always do, but regardless of who you are, Republican or Democrat you owe it your children, grand-children, etc., to truly know what is at stake and what is happening because their future is in your hands. The attitude, “I am not really into politics” or saying, “I don’t care” does not relieve you from the responsibility nor the outcome of future events.

I am conflicted every time I see coverage of these Occupy schlubs. On one hand, like anyone who has actually earned a paycheck, I would like to see most of the them told that they are too old for the sandbox – time to go get a job. On the other hand, I jump for joy over the fact that these morons have no clue that they have royally over-stayed their welcome; and that even their most staunch supports’ patience is wearing thin.

But as a person with the heart of a teacher, I really want them to grip how silly their premise is…. Actually, I just don’t want anyone else drinking that kool-aid.

SHORT VERSION: They can’t. Thanks for playing, have a safe trip back home (to your parent’s basement)

LONG VERSION: Listening to your Bolshevik teachers (who, by the way, said in their youth, “never trust anyone over 30″…. and now they are your professors) you would think that the evil capitalists have been holding down the hoi-polloi since those white dudes in wigs forced out the peace loving British who only want to spread the wealth around (back to England of course). And it got worse from there! As the centuries past, the unwashed masses grunted along to the tune of “Look Down” from Les Miserables, being forced by those mean Republicans to accept slavery, Jim Crow Laws, Poll taxes, grandfather clauses…. oh wait…. that’s right, it WASN’T the Republican that did that. Wanna take a guess at which party that was?

Generation after generation, the 99% stood there and took it, until finally (cue the Halleluiah Chorus) kids barely out of diapers came running down to Zuccotti Park, dragging their massive craniums behind them to solve the unsolvable, cure the incurable, to DREAM… the IM-POSS-I-BLE….. you get the picture.

They, inspired by their “fundamentally transform American President” (erk… had to fight off some GERD there), have solved society’s problems by occupying a private park, taking dumps on cop cars, practically driving the MIDDLE CLASS vendors in the area out of business (fat cats order in during an occupation, check the manual) and of course, changed western civilization as we know it by coming up with call and response phrases like, “this is what democracy looks like!” – which with the cerebral skill of a parrot, the rest of the crowd repeats… over and over and over and over…

Ya know what? That IS what democracy looks like! Tell ya what, I’ll get back to that in a minute.

SO…. if this has always been the condition of America, then why hasn’t it been fixed?! HMMMM?!!! If it really has been 99% versus 1%…… in a representative republic – then why are we just NOW getting to the problem? Why wasn’t it fixed 100 years ago when Mr. Smith really could go to Washington? How about 435 Mr. Smith’s in the house…. or I suppose if the OWS stats are correct, it would be 430-5? Well?? And the Senate? Hey, back then I bet you could have pulled 100% given that Senators were elected by state legislatures, who I am just sure were made up of purely 99%ers.. Right??

During the Great Depression? FD who? Who needs a President when you’ve got 430-5 and 99-1, right?!! I am sure you could’ve had some wealth spreadage back then? WELL????

Want to know why??.. Uh oh, here it comes….

BECAUSE IT ISN’T 99% VS 1% IN THIS COUNTRY!!! Nine out of every 10 of the 1% in America (statistically is families and businesses making $350,000 or more per year) are FIRST GENERATION RICH! Meaning that they started somewhere other than Richville. AND most of the so-called rich (tell someone living in downtown Manhattan and ONLY making 350k per year they are rich) from 30 years ago have cycled OUT of Richville and have been replaced by new 1%ers. In other words, there is no LOCK on wealth in this country other that the fact that it takes a huge amount of blood, sweat, tears and TIME!! The ‘microwave generation’ (I want it now, now, now!!) doesn’t grip that.

Oh, and getting back to what democracy looks like? Yep, that what it looks like alright – a mob that shares space, food, braincells, joints and other things I can’t mention. It is exactly the reason why our framers did NOT give us a democracy, but a republic. If the “take up oxygen” crown would have gripped that back in civics class, they probably wouldn’t be fertilizing Zuccotti Park the way they have been doing. Then again, if they would have paid attention in econ class, they would be working on getting to the other side of the glass on Wall Street.

I knew my father had strong feelings about our country later on in life, but I didn’t really know much about it early on.

I am going to share it with all of you – remember this was originally written in 1955 but it still has a tremendous meaning even today.

     Being an American means Democracy. Democracy is a government of the people, by the people, for the people, as Lincoln defined it in his famous Gettysburg Address. But it is more than that. It is a way of thinking, and a way of living. It is the foundation on which our civilization is built, and on which it must continue to rest. It is an American ideal, resulting from inheritance and environment.

    Our forefathers made great sacrifices to lay the foundations for our government, which each generation has helped to build.  This government is based upon the ideals of freedom, equality, opportunity, and cooperation.  These ideals represent the American way of life – the democratic way.

    Democracy recognizes the importance of the people through representative government.  It safeguards and protects them by its laws.  It provides them the opportunity to attain whatever success they desire. It offers the condition for a higher standard of living than any other country. More than anything else it stands for freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.

    These principles of democracy have made our people happier, more progressive, more creative, and more energetic than any other people.  A democracy gives us all these advantages and privileges but it also places upon us certain responsibilities.  If we are worthy to accept the democratic way of life we must be willing to assume our duty, and help keep it democratic.  We young Americans hold the fate of the coming years in our hands. We must work out the future of our country.  First of all, we must learn to fully appreciate the many privileges which are ours.

    What does democracy mean to me?

Next to the gift of life, it is the greatest of all gifts.

Some points in this piece I don’t agree with completely, maybe it is the strong Conservative and Christian  beliefs I have. But whatever it may be I am still glad for now that we have our freedoms to say and do as we wish. I hope you enjoyed this small piece as much as I did.

It is funny how 56 years has gone passed and the meaning is still the same.

It’s easy to look at a table full of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and yams and be grateful that it is so.  Looking around the table at family we don’t see often enough adds to the sentiment.  Those are the obvious things for which we should all be thankful, but are we still ungrateful?

Americans are different.  America is different.  It is, as Alexis de Toqueville said, “The great American experiment”.  A gift from our founding fathers and God himself.  The chance to finally let each individual human make his or her own path through life.  That is what we should be thankful for.  We are individuals and require individual rights, afforded us by God himself, protected with the lives of truly grateful patriots (past and present) and that should be limited by no man – none.

Before progressives started re-directing the great experiment in the ways of its failed socialistic predecessors, we did not have the government telling us what we could not eat, what toys we may or may not have in our kids happy meals, what we could or could not smoke, what poor is, or much of anything else.  Now, many Americans think it’s perfectly fine to let the government make those calls because the government provides healthcare, retirement benefits and money for the unemployed.  We have given up some of our freedoms for that security – as Benjamin Franklin put it in his letter to Jane Mecom, “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety“.

Being thankful is not as simple as saying grace before a meal or writing a thank you note.  To show gratitude for the liberties so many have fought and died to give us, we have to decide that they are worth at least that sacrifice on our part.  If we are truly grateful for such a wonderful gift, should we not be willing to give everything to keep it?  If we are willing to make the sacrifices necessary to restore our liberties, only then will we be able to offer that same gift to our children and theirs.

We must be thankful for are those things that make us unique: the opportunity given to us as Americans.  It is something that no other human on the face of the Earth can hope to have save immigration.  It is something that many try to obtain illegally because it is the greatest gift anyone can hope to hold.  Freedom – or as Ben Franklin once replied, “..  a republic if you can keep it”.
