Death Penalty Abolished in Illinois

Governor Pat Quinn, of Illinois recently signed into law the abolishment of the death penalty, and he also commuted all death row inmates sentences to life without  parole. When the abolition law takes effect July 1, Illinois becomes the 16th state without a death penalty.
