When Middle East Policies Collide

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 will prove to be a very busy and interesting day.  On that day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address the United Nations general assembly, followed soon after by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Both men will outline the state of affairs between the two peoples who reside in a very contentious region.  Their perspectives, however, are very different, and in the end, only one of them is right.

Netanyahu will start out the day in an effort to defend Israeli policy and practice.  The reception, however, is likely to be very chilly, to say the least.  The U.N. General Assembly has been known for its blatant anti-Israel stance, so Netanyahu’s message is more of a matter of record than of sway.  He simply wants to get everything out there for the world to hear, even if it’ll all fall on deaf ears.

Abbas has different motives.  He is seeking a U.N. Resolution, preferably from the Security Council that declares, unilaterally, the existence of a State called Palestine.  He wants full U.N. membership and representation, and his goal is to force Israel’s hand by having the U.N. outline the borders.  The Palestinian Authority is intent on securing borders from prior to the 1967 war.  At least, that’s the border they want to start with.

Israel, however, has argued that those borders are indefensible and negotiations must be undertaken to choose different borders.  Israel also insists that Jerusalem not be re-divided and remain the capital of the Jewish State.  One other thing that Israel wants, however, is something that the Palestinians are unwilling to give:  a declaration that Israel as a Jewish State has a right to exist.

The P.A. won’t resume negotiations until Israel stops building settlements in the so-called occupied territories.  That, of course, is a straw man being used to further the Palestinians’ goal.  They’d prefer to have the world exert pressure on Israel through the United Nations by painting themselves as the good guys.

The P.A. is undertaking this move by saying they are just copying what the Israelis did in 1948.  An article ran in the Sydney Morning Herald on August 29th in which Sonja Karkar distorted history and portrayed it as fact.  He said:

“Israel’s own unilateral move in declaring statehood after the UN’s intention to partition historic Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state cannot be avoided. It underscores that Palestine was never a land without a people and that Israel’s existence was imposed on Palestinians, robbing them of their homes and land and destroying their proud and millenniums-old society.”

What Mr. Karkar fails to mention in his first sentence is that when Israel declared independence, they did so within the U.N. partitioned borders in good faith.  The Arab League opposed the plan.  They argued that the U.N. lacked the authority to divide the land and they viewed the division as being unfair.  On the day Israel declared her independence, the surrounding Arab States declared war with one purpose in mind:  the obliteration of Israel.  They wanted to push the Jewish infestation in Arab lands into the sea.

The Palestinians in the region at the start of the war were urged by the surrounding Arab States to leave their homes.  They were promised prime land, once Israel no longer existed.

Mr. Karkar’s reasoning again is faulty by his assumption that the “Palestinians” were actually a distinct society.  There, of course, have always been people there.  Those people come from all different sorts of backgrounds and cultures, but never once has there been a nation of Palestine that was run by the people who call themselves Palestinian.

The Arab confederation lost this war.  Several more military campaigns would be waged over the years and each time the result was the same:  Israel was victorious and the surrounding nations were clueless.

In 1949, the land that the U.N. had partitioned for the Arab State was firmly in the hands of the Jordanians and Egyptians.  It remained in their hands until 1967.

In those 18 years, no effort was made to establish a nation of Palestine according to the U.N. plan.  The only thing the Egyptians and Jordanians did was plan their next war.  In 1967, they lost the now so-called “Occupied Territories”.  Egypt also lost the entire Sinai Peninsula.

On the eastern side, Israel had taken the West Bank of the Jordan River along with East Jerusalem from Jordan and the Golan Heights from Syria.

Israel reunited Jerusalem, but under treaty with Jordan, left the temple mount under Jordanian control.

In 1979, Egypt and Israel signed a Peace agreement that formally ended 30 years of war.  As part of the deal, Israel gave Egypt back the Sinai Peninsula and wanted to give Egypt the Gaza Strip at the same time.  Egypt did not want Gaza.  They viewed the residents there as being problematic and preferred to leave the problem in Israel’s hands.  Once again, no effort was made by the Egyptians to secure that land, which they could have then turned around and ceded to the Palestinians.

Over the course of time, the Palestinian Liberation Organization evolved from a purely terrorist organization to a “respected” representative of the Palestinian interests.  Various accords have been signed and Israel has withdrawn from large portions of the land.  The exception would be the settlements that are being constructed in the West Bank.

This is where the racist aspect of the Palestinians comes clearly into view for those of us who want to look.  The Palestinians have no interest in having any Jews live in what will be their State and so they oppose, often violently, any Jewish settlements in those areas.  This sort of apartheid is condemned elsewhere, but for some reason, is not only accepted in this region, it’s promoted as the only way to have “peace”.

The truth is there won’t be peace in the region because there are two peoples in one region that both want the same land and refuse to live together and work together.

With the exception of re-dividing Jerusalem, Israel is more than willing to share the land with the Palestinians, side by side.  They just want to make sure their borders are wide enough to be defended.  The Palestinians, however, only view such an existence a stopgap to their goal:  A Palestinian State that extends from the Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea.

The United States wants to stop Abbas from making his demands, and Netanyahu wants to make sure the world knows why.  If both efforts fail to change the course the world is on, September 20th could prove to be a very busy, perhaps even bloody, day, indeed.

“They [Israelis] know for certain that our [Palestinian] roots are deeper than their false history. We, from the balcony of our home, look out over [Islamic] holiness and on sin and filth (Jews’ praying at Western Wall) in an area that used to have [Arab] people and homes. We are drawing our new maps. When they [Israelis] disappear from the picture, like a forgotten chapter in the pages of our city’s history, we will build it anew (residential area). The Mughrabi Quarter will be built here (on the Western Wall Plaza).”

America, We Were Warned Thousands of Years Ago

As I wrote in my article “Come Hell or High Water I will Stand With Israel“, quoting the passage of Scripture in Genesis 12:1-4, all blessings and curses come from God depending on how we treat Israel. I had a comment posted on that article that I “mis-quoted” the Bible, that this Scripture refers to Jerusalem, not the nation of Israel. I stand by my statement- and say that yes, the Scripture in Genesis 12:1-4 most definitely is speaking of Jerusalem, but Jerusalem is Israel!

To quote a portion of the above article, point number seven from Pastor John Hagee of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, that I expounded on:

7. Obadiah 1:15 and Joel 3:2 speaks very clearly that any nation that tries to divide the land of Israel (Jerusalem IS included in this land covenant made by God with Abraham) will receive judgement from God. America is not immune to the consequences if we insist on being a part of trying to force this division. When we as a nation take our “final stand”, so to speak, against Israel, and join the ranks of those demanding the creation of a “Palestinian State”, God will swiftly remove His hand of protection from this nation. He will turn His back on America just as she has turned her back on Him and His chosen people- Israel.

I believe today very well could be the day that God removes His hand of protection from The United States of America. Thousands of years ago the prophets Obadiah and Joel warned the nations of the world what would happen to anyone who tries to divide Israel.

I was not watching the news conference, but happened to turn the TV on near the end of it. What I heard spewing from this man’s mouth made me physically ill. How dare he? He has absolutely NO RIGHT to make demands of what should be done in Israel!

President Obama stood before this nation and spit in the face of our ally Israel today. He is “demanding” that Israel “obey” him. So my question is- who died and made him god? Oh yes… he is god in his own eyes!

My heart aches first and foremost for the nation and people o f Israel. Today, my dear friend, is the day the whole world has turned against you as prophecy foretold. It was just a few days ago that I wrote about this in my article, “THAT Day Has come- Israel IS The Burdensome Stone” which is based solely on this Scripture:

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people. All who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
Zechariah 12:3

The very belief that was born from Israel’s roots- Christianity- is turning their back on her. In this specific article I wrote about how an activist group within The United Methodist Church has come out publicly against the nation of Israel and stands for Palestine.

And today, The President of The United States of America hammered the final nail in the coffin. All that has to be done now is making it official, which I believe is supposed to happen in  September of this year.

Yesterday the White House declared that they would not call for a return to the  1967 borders. Today President Obama did. Today of all days. It did not even occur to me when the actual press conference was going on, but as Brittany Cohan stated on Twitter-

So Jewish American Heritage Month is when Obama decides to endorse 1967 borders for Israel? That seems super duper smart. #ornot

This man has sealed the fate of this country and it is not going to be pretty.

America, I also weep for you today.  You have elected a President that has succeeded in destroying you. He is not the one that started us on the path of self-destruction. The administration before him was bent on dividing the nation of Israel as well. I could go on and on about how one administration or another has contributed to our demise.  However, President Obama is the one who has completely turned his back on Israel.

Lord God Almighty- please have mercy on the soul of this nation! I pray she will humble herself before You and repent for her sins! I know that there are many of this nation that do not stand with President Obama. I am one of them! I pray for my fellow Americans. Keep us strong and faithful to Your people. We will forever stand on the side of righteousness!

Come Hell or High Water I Will Stand With Israel

I sat watching the “Glenn Beck” show just an hour ago with a mixture of emotions. My city made Glenn Beck’s show once again! Not only did Glenn highlight a news story from our city, but there were other elements that made me stand proud. A church service supporting and honoring Israel was the main topic of the news story. And then I became enraged!

Glenn told his audience of a letter he received from Pastor John Hagee, the pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, describing the details of a disturbance that happened in the middle of their worship service this past Sunday.

Pastor Hagee is a staunch supporter of Israel, who has written several books in defense of Israel, giving clear, Biblical proof that to stand with Israel is the only answer. He founded Christians United For Israel, a non-profit organization which provides a national association that allows every church, organization, ministry or individual who supports Israel the venue to connect in support of Israel.

This past Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, Cornerstone Church had a special service to show their love and appreciation for the State of Israel and the Jewish people. It was during the nationally televised11:00am service that 11 anti-Israel protesters reared their hate-filled heads and hearts. They were not actual “Palestinian” people, they were simply radical, extremist activists from the San Antonio area.

One of the radical protesters chose to start the commotion the moment Pastor Hagee stood to give his sermon on Sunday morning. She did not scream, she chose instead to throw propaganda leaflets from the balcony proclaiming to the church members of Cornerstone Church that their tithes were “supporting the deaths of 1,500 children since the year 2000″. Very interesting that she accuses Israel of murdering children. You know what they say about people in glass houses! Was it not just a few months ago- March, 2011- that a Jewish family- the Fogel’s- were murdered in their sleep by Palestinians simply because they were Jews? A 3-month-old baby was murdered because of her heritage!

Being that Cornerstone is a very large church, coupled with the fact that Pastor Hagee has had numerous threats and attempts on his life, they have a Security Team that is well-equipped to handle any emergency situations that may arise. The Security Team acted swiftly, removing her from the sanctuary.

Pastor Hagee continued with his sermon. It wasn’t long before another protester stood up in the congregation and started screaming loudly that the people of Israel had no right to the land they “occupied” and should leave, among other hateful things. Once again, the Security Team acted swiftly, removing her from the sanctuary. This time the congregation reacted by standing and applauding the Security Team for the protesters removal.

It wasn’t but five minutes later when the third protester stood up, this time spewing the typical hateful rhetoric that is common around the world to condemn Israel. Once again, the Security Team successfully removed the protester.

It was at this point that Pastor Hagee says he realized that this was an organized protest intent on shutting down the service. He proclaimed to his congregation that he would not be deterred, he would preach until 6pm if that is how long it took. In response to this, the congregation erupted in applause and cheers as if it were “the Super Bowl”, Pastor Hagee said. He also made the statement that the actions of the protesters UNITED the congregation rather than dividing it! They DID NOT succeed in their mission!

The protesters continued to stand every five minutes, repeating the same actions as the previous protesters. Each one was swiftly escorted away by security, and the service continued on. In the end, this congregation was more united than ever before. They has witnessed first hand just a tiny glimpse of the hatred Israel sees and experiences every single day!

Each protester was taken to another area of the church where their pictures were taken and they were issued trespassing citations. If they return to the church they will be taken to jail. There were a few of the protesters that had outstanding warrants and were whisked away to jail on Sunday.

It was later determined that one third of the staff of staff of Esperanza Peace and Justice Center- a San Antonio based non-profit organization, were participants in this invasive disruption of a church service. That is quite contradictory to the name of the “organization” they work for, I would say! “Peace and Justice” is quite the opposite of what they are doing, standing for and supporting.

As a tax-paying citizen of the State of Texas, and city of San Antonio, I am outraged to learn that this so-called “peaceful” organization- Esperanza Peace and Justice Center- receives funding from my tax dollars! They not only receive funding from the State of Texas, but they also receive funds from the City of San Antonio as well!

You can rest assured I will be contacting my Congressmen, Senators, Governor and anyone else in leadership to make it very well known that I want an IMMEDIATE stop to their funds! I am a STRONG supporter of Israel, and the thought of my tax-paying dollars going to a blatant anti-Israel organization is appalling to me!

In Pastor Hagee’s letter to Glenn Beck he stated why he and those who stand with him will continue to support Israel. I am one of those he speaks of.

1. Standing with Israel is not about politics, it is about obeying the Word of God. The Bible is the only Truth there is. Your feelings and thoughts do not make something true. To quote Pastor Hagee letter regarding this issue, “The truth is, Israel is the only nation created by a Sovereign act of God in the Book of Genesis. Israel was not born on May 15, 1948…it was born 3500 years ago when Almighty God made an eternal covenant between Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants (see Genesis 13:14-15 and Genesis 17:7-8).” Amen, Pastor Hagee, AMEN!

2. Psalm 122:6 commands us to love and pray for Israel. If we claim to beleive the Bible and follow what it says then standing with, praying for and loving Israel is a must!

3. All blessings and curses come to us from how we treat Israel (Genesis 12:1-4). In Pastor Hagee’s letter he gives 2 distinct examples of how this plays out in the lives of past Pharaohs actions. I choose to be blessed by God rather than cursed by Him.

4. Jesus- a Jewish Rabbi- healed a sick Gentile because this man “built a synagogue” in the land of Israel. Messiah of the World healed a Gentile because of he supported Israel. (Luke 7:1-5).

5. Romans 15:27 tells us it is our duty as Christians to minister where needed. This especially applies to Israel. If you take away the contributions of the nation of Israel from the Christian faith there would be no Christian faith.

6. Jesus tells us whatever we do to the least of those we do unto Him. (Matthew 25:40) God made a covenant with Israel and her people and we are to honor that covenant in our beliefs and actions.

8. Israel has every right to exist! Who are we or anyone else in the world to “demand” that she give up land promised to her by Sovereign God? The wrath of God Almighty will be seen by all who follow through with this “demand”.

Once again I quote Pastor Hagee from his letter:

We call on the President and Congress to demand that Hamas and the Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist or to cut off all foreign aid immediately. Israel has the right to defined and defensible borders. Israel has the right to defend itself from any nation or group of people that attack them.

I personally stand with Pastor Hagee and demand that our leaders in Congress and our President support Israel and stop pushing to divide Israel.

I agree with every single reason Pastor Hagee gave in why we will still support Israel. For me it goes much deeper than that. It goes to the very depths of my soul. Yes, the Bible reasons are more than enough for me. But there is a longing in deep in my soul to do what is good and pleasing to God. It goes beyond just not wanting to receive the wrath of God. I am honored to love the nation of Israel and her people with a spiritual love that reaches beyond the constraints of time. When I read the Biblical account of the Jewish people there is a stirring within me that I cannot explain. I know without a doubt God has chosen this nation and people to be blessed for many reasons.

People of the world- be warned. You will be judged on how you treat Israel. Scoff and mock me if you will. As for me and my house, we WILL serve The Lord God Almighty! (Joshua 24:15) He has commanded us to stand with Israel and I will obey! I know all too well the consequences of being disobedient to God. I will not ever make that mistake where Israel is concerned!

I am a proud Christian, Texan, American who stands with Israel come hell or high water! May God have mercy on the souls of those who don’t!

Update: I have started a Facebook Page to contact Texas Lawmakers to demand that an immediate stop be put on the funding of Esperanza Peace and Justice Center- a San Antonio based non-profit organization that participated in this disruptive invasion. If you are on Facebook, please stop by the Page. Use the link to contact your Congressmen and Senator. Forward it to your friends and have them contact their Congressman and Senator. We must stand united for Israel!

“That” Day Has Come- Israel IS The Burdensome Stone

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people. All who burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
Zechariah 12:3

It does not surprise me that the world has come against Israel. Prophecy foretold of this thousands of years ago.

What does surprise me is how people who call themselves Christians are now among the ever-growing group who stands against the nation of Israel and her people.

I just read a headline that broke my heart. It shouldn’t surprise me, but I must admit it does.

The headline reads, “United Methodist Board Features Anti-Israel Message in Newsletter”.

The United Methodist Church’s official website states:

“As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center of the Church’s life and witness. To fulfill this obligation, we reflect critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express faithfully the witness we make in our own time.”

If you read the various links on the website regarding The United Methodist faith and beliefs they speak strongly of taking a stand and being active in society, their response to God’s love and grace, a mission to make disciples, and other areas that seem to take a definite stand for doing what is right according to God’s Word.

If this Statement of Faith is held true by the religious organization of The United Methodist Church, they would come out strongly against this  “advocacy wing” of the organization and denounce every ounce of this newsletter!

To quote Abraham Lincoln,

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

Members of The United Methodist Church, you must ask yourself where you stand.  Do you support Israel? If you do, you must seriously question being a part of anything or anyone who stands on the wrong side of God! As the clichés go, “You are known by the company you keep.” There’s also the applicable quote, “Birds of a feather flock together.” I could spend a lot of time and space quoting common sayings that have relevance to this, but I believe you get the idea.

Our faith in Christ comes not from a specific religion, church building or leader. The ONLY Leader we must glean our Truth from is the One who IS The Way, The TRUTH and The Life- Jesus Christ.  (John 14:6) If you disagree with The United Methodist Church “advocacy group” you MUST go to the top on this issue! The time for sitting silently by has long since passed. This is the reason we have the leadership we have today and the social issues we do today. The Church- The Body of Christ- became complacent. I speak for ALL religions that call themselves “Christian” in that statement. I cannot point fingers at anyone else without having 4 fingers pointing back at myself. We must stand strong, proud and resolved on this issue. Israel and her people- the Jews- are God’s chosen people. Genesis 12:3 makes it very clear where we must stand in regards to Israel-

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

If you support the division of Jerusalem- the land of Israel- you are essentially supporting the division of the homeland of Messiah.  Yeshua- or Jesus as we know Him- was born into this earthly world in Israel.Oh yes, there are those who contest this fact, but they are wrong, plain and simple. The Bible- God’s Holy Word- the ONLY resolute written Truth in existence- clearly documents the genealogy of this man Yeshua (Jesus).

If you are a Christian then your standard of belief should come only from The Holy Word of God Almighty. Either you believe that The Bible is complete Truth or you don’t.

Matthew 2: 2 says specifically that He was born, “King of the Jews”.  If you stand against Israel, you stand against  Yeshua- Jesus- The Christ- The Messiah.

If you stand with Israel, you stand with Yeshua- Jesus- The Christ- The Messiah.

When it comes down to the end, we are each, personally accountable before the throne of God Almighty. The Methodist Church cannot and will not speak for you. The Baptist Church cannot and will not speak for you. The Catholic Church cannot and will not speak for you. The Pentecostal Church cannot and will not speak for you. The choice is yours and yours alone. YOU will be PERSONALLY held accountable for where YOU stand!

We have come to the point in history that prophecy speaks of. Jerusalem has indeed become a burdensome stone for all the world. The time for playing church has come and gone. The time for choosing the label of “Christian” for your religious preference is over. The time has come to make some hard choices. You are not going to be alone, but there are far more people who stand against Israel than with her. Even those who call themselves her allies are coming together against her. Yes, you will be mocked for taking a stand for her. Your life may even be in danger at some point in time, but there is eternal life after this temporal life. The choice is now yours.

Choose you this day whom you will serve.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15). As for me and my house, we will Stand With Israel- NOW AND FOREVER!
