Hydraulic fracturing in Minnesota is about to take another big hit as environmental activists bus in from around the state to descend on the Capitol in St. Paul. A joint hearing of energy committess in the Minnesota House and Senate is expected to discuss a 30 year moratorium on silica sand mining on Tuesday, February 19th at 12:00 noon at the State Capitol. The sand is used by oil and gas drillers for hydraulic fracturing, also known as “fracking.”

The Land Stewardship Project, an activist group heavily funded by the Joyce Foundation, a pet project of billionaire George Soros, has organized 2 busloads of activists who will travel from rural counties in Minnesota to the capitol. The Land Stewardship Project calls itself a “grassroots” community organizing group that is “organizing for change.” The group spent over $2 million in 2011.

According to Johanna Rupprecht, the contact at LSP organizing the travel details for activists from St. Charles and Rochester, there are still seats available on the 42 passenger bus, though she wouldn’t share on the record how many activists have been confirmed.

“We want to send a clear message to the legislature that this issue is very important… Local governments can’t handle this kind of thing on their own without state involvement,” said Rupprecht when asked what the group hopes to accomplish.

Rupprecht says LSP is urging the state to fund a General Impact Study and impose a moratorium on sand mining until it is complete and can be reviewed.

Rupprecht declined to divulge the costs associated with the community organization and travel for the hearings saying she would, “rather not share how much it will cost. I’m not sure how that’s relevant.”

The other bus is being organized in part by a newly formed group called The Houston County Protectors. Organizer Donna Buckbee says there are 45 confirmed attendees and she is hoping for more to reserve seats throughout the day.

LSP Executive Director George Boody is a registered lobbyist and “local foods expert” at the University of MN. LSP is also a member of Take Action MN which hosted training for the Occupy Movement. Boody did not immediately return a call for comment. LSP will hold a press conference at 11AM at the capitol.

.

On February 25th, 2012, I posted the following short article here on CDN:

—

It seems that Americans are enraged – yet again (sarcasm intended) – with the price of gasoline.

Is this outrage justified?

Not when you take a few things into consideration.

#1 – Gas prices are at the levels they were in the late spring/early summer of 2008. (Graph 1)

#2 – Inflation has spiked tremendously since the same time in 2008 – when gas prices went even higher. Thus the reason that gas prices dipped in 2008, and have climbed since then in conjunction with the inflation rates. (Graph 2)

#3 - Oil is currently trading about 34% lower than its all time nominal high set in July of 2008 (Graph 3)

#4 - Declining retail inventories will (and have?) help setup the perfect storm for massive price inflation across the board (Graph 4)

Again, Is this outrage justified? No, because the American people are outraged at the wrong people. Rather than being outraged at the oil companies and oil producers, the outrage needs to be on those who control the money supply – The Federal Reserve.

Instead of President Obama talking about releasing oil from the US Reserves, he should be talking about – and pressuring Congress for – the need for monetary reform in the United States.

…given the data, that’s where I believe the outrage should be pointed.

—

Upon posting this article, I was called a “Idiot Socialist” for not blaming President Obama and the Democrats in Congress for the high gas prices. But a mere four days after I posted my article, Ben Swann, anchor at WXIX-TV in Cincinatti, aired the following “Reality Check” on gas prices:

http://youtu.be/Cdd4selSYE0

.
And now the Washington Times has done the research that many fail to do, and proved both Ben Swann and myself to be correct:

.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! Partisan Politics will never fix the problems this nation faces. Only common sense, and the willingness to listen to those who try to tell you the truth. You don’t have to like what we say, but listen, and fact-check.

The US (through President Barack Hussein Obama’s failed green energy policies and his desire to repay campaign contributors) has decided to pursue green energy. Obama promised that green industries would create millions of jobs after he took office. His administration earmarked billions of dollars for investment in “clean” industry. But no matter how you define a “green” job, the numbers are falling far short of millions of jobs.

The US has decided to forgo the worldwide demand for oil and gas that is booming. Instead, we are not taking advantage of the US’s natural resources and getting a large share of the worldwide market.

On June 28, 2012, Obama unveiled a “<a href="http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/06/28/u<sa-drilling-offshore-idINL2E8HSFE020120628">five year oil leasing plan” of oil development. How fitting that Obama calls it a five year plan, just like in the (now defunct) Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). Or was the plan name a Freudian slip that exposes what he really believes?

Obama’s aptly named plan simultaneously opens two doors: similarities between what Obama has done/is doing and Stalin’s five year plans, and the sad state of affairs of our oil and gas exploration and use.

USSR Five Year Plans: Josef Stalin believed that the USSR should ‘overtake and outstrip the capitalist countries.’ Five year plans were drawn up by GOSPLAN (the USSR planning organization), just like Obama is doing today. Workers were bombarded with propaganda, posters, slogans and radio broadcasts, just like Obama, Environmentalists, the White House, and the MSM are doing today. Women were attracted by day-care centers so that mothers could work. Sound familiar? With the introduction of the Five Year Plan, Stalin argued that it was necessary to pay higher wages to certain workers in order to encourage increased output. His left-wing opponents claimed that this inequality was a betrayal of socialism and would create a new class system in the Soviet Union. Again, does that sound familiar? That is exactly what Obama is arguing today, that all wages should be the same, and that he wants to achieve that goal through taxation, through having everyone pay his fair share, through redistribution of wealth.

The five year plans were ruthlessly implemented, aimed at making the USSR self-sufficient and emphasized heavy industry at the expense of consumer goods. The five year plans were successful: new cities were built, dams that provided hydroelectricity were built, transportation and communications facilities were built, and coal and steel production was increased. But the USSR paid a high price for the plans’ successes. Besides slave labor and many deaths, there were few consumer goods, poor housing, no human rights, a widening gap of wages paid to workers and skilled workers, and secret police.

Obama’s Five Year Plan : The Obama administration unveiled its latest five-year oil-leasing plan. His plan is great if the goal is to reduce the number of jobs and stunt economic growth. US oil companies will be allowed limited access to the Arctic under the final version of the Obama Administration’s five year drilling plan. The plan calls for lease sales in three offshore Alaska areas, but the auctions would not be held until the final years of the plan because of environmental concerns about drilling in the Arctic. The Obama administration has consistently reversed bipartisan efforts to open America’s offshore resources for energy development. Obama himself has canceled lease sales, delayed others, and imposed a unilateral executive embargo on the oil resources. While President Obama and Interior Secretary Salazar claim an “all of the above” energy strategy, the plan continues to give the American people access to only a fraction of offshore resources.

Doc Hastings (R-WA), chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, said, “Today, the Obama Administration has announced a bleak future for American energy production by keeping 85 percent of America’s offshore areas under lock and key and refusing to open any new areas to drilling.” Drilling our own resources will produce jobs, create wealth, and increase our energy security. But, nooooooooooooo (to quote John Belushi), the environmental lobby got into the act.

Environmentalists criticized the new plan as risky, expanding drilling so soon after the explosion of BP’s Deepwater Horizon platform that sent oil gushing uncontrolled into the Gulf of Mexico for three months. “The plan is too aggressive, too broad and too rushed,” said Regan Nelson, at the Natural Resources Defense Council. But all the oil from the Gulf Oil Spill was not all oil from BP’s Deep Horizon well.

And now we learn that Obama has reinstituted a 27 year old ban on denying drilling on the US east coast outer continental shelf that was lifted in 2008. Obama’s plan for developing the energy resources in the Outer Continental Shelf will keep America dependent on foreign sources of oil and keep people unemployed.

The USSR five year plans achieved (among other things) falling wages, a reduction in consumer goods and human rights, and a secret police. We know that Obama is a socialist and a marxist. Job and economic growth are, at best, flat. Obama has called for wealth redistribution and other socialist actions. Is the USSR’s five year style plan what awaits us if Obama’s five year plan is enacted, if he is reelected?

But that’s just my opinion.

Eight regions of Spain have had their credit ratings cut as uneasy Spaniards moved their money overseas. Spooked by the questionable state of their banks, Spanish savers are now moving their money abroad faster than records have ever shown. Spain’s credit rating has been downgraded two notches and nearly 25% of Spaniards are unemployed

The Spanish newspaper La Gaceta ran a full-page article exposing the truth about Spain’s “green jobs” agenda, which just happens to have been cited many times by barack obama as the way “forward” for the United States. “Green energy” has now been exposed as a costly disaster that has undone Spain’s economy.

The Spanish Administration confessed “the increase of the electric bill is principally due to the cost of renewable energies.” It has now become officially recognized that the price of electricity, as well as increases in Spain’s debt are due to the extra cost of solar and wind energy. Additionally, the Spanish administration now admits that each green job that was created cost more than 2.2 traditional jobs in the private sector.

All evidence to the contrary, the obama administration insists on moving full speed ahead with its ill imagined, full frontal assault on the American energy industry, coupled with increased promotion of their “green jobs” fantasy.

Not only is coal America’s cheapest source of energy, the United States owns some the world’s largest coal deposits. Newly enacted EPA regulations now force a reduction in utility CO2 emissions to 1,000 pounds per megawatt of electricity. This regulation effectively bans construction of new coal-fired plants and will invariably lead to hikes in electricity costs. Since only natural gas meets the new emissions standard, the country’s electricity providers will be forced to pay the cost of converting to natural gas. One way or another, electricity prices will “necessarily skyrocket”.

Despite administration claims, obama’s hostility towards fossil fuels has led to reduced opportunities for domestic oil production. obama continues to call for the elimination of targeted tax breaks oil companies have been receiving for decades. The general public is largely unaware of the fact that those tax breaks are targeted chiefly for exploratory activities. Drilling for oil is an expensive, uncertain business venture. Even successful fields have limited lifespans. Besides, hiking taxes on new exploration is counter-intuitive to increasing production.

In addition to his open aggression towards traditional fuels, obama plans on “investing” more of American taxpayer money by doubling down on spending for wind farms, solar energy, homegrown biofuels and energy-efficient cars and buildings. The history of the administration’s “investment” strategy is fraught with peril.

Here are a few of the “green” “sustainable energy” failures that have already been supported by the current administration’s “investments”. Remember, all this financing was done using your tax dollars. Well, not exactly. It has been done with tax dollars to be re-paid to the Federal Reserve Bank and China by your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Plus interest:

Evergreen Energy-Which has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, saying it’s “impossible to maintain operations” due to funding shortfalls. This announcement came after the company received $5.3 million in “stimulus” funds.

Amonix Inc.-A manufacturer of solar panels that received $5.9 million from the “stimulus”, laid off about 200 employees only seven months after opening a factory in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s home State of Nevada.

Beacon Power Corp-Sought bankruptcy protection in 2010 after they received a $43 million loan guarantee from the Department of Energy.

Ener1 Electric-A car battery manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy three years after receiving a $118.5 million grant from the U.S. government.

These are all in addition to Solyndra-A solar panel maker that received a $535 million loan guarantee, then famously filed for Chapter 11 protection.

This is a mere taste of problems found when centrally planned big government intrudes into the free market. Not only is the spending inherently wasteful, the fact that these companies were in large part operated by big donors to obama’s political campaign points to the corruption involved when an ideologically captive, politically driven politician makes investment decisions based on cronyism. Two thirds of all energy loan guarantees or grants made by the obama administration’s Department of Energy have gone to his campaign donors or donation bundlers. Can you say quid quo pro?

All government energy subsidies should end. Energy companies should be free to compete without government interference. If and when “green” “sustainable energy” becomes a competitive solution, consumers will reward “green” companies that used private capital to successfully situate themselves in the market by purchasing their products. That’s how a free market works. That’s what’s made America the greatest economic success in the history of human civilization.

Schumer’s unhidden rationale was that such a pledge from the Saudis would drive down gasoline prices in America

http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/216057-schumer-saudi-arabis-plan-to-increae-oil-output-will-lower-gas-prices

This ill-advised strategy was clearly politically driven. While the idea of higher gasoline prices, and the accompanying increase in the price of gas dependent goods and services is consistently rejected by average Americans, this is a blatantly partisan call for a short-term fix. This temporary, non-solution, suggested in order to perpetuate the false narrative that America’s economy is improving thanks to “progressive” policy decisions does absolutely nothing to reduce America’s dependency on foreign oil. Quite to the contrary, it exacerbates it.

On March 15, 2012 Reuters reported that during British Prime Minister David Cameron’s recent trip to the U.S. the current White House occupant proposed releasing emergency oil reserves as a way to reduce world oil prices.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/03/15/uk-obama-energy-spr-idUKBRE82E00U20120315

Were the White House to make such a decision, it would be yet another desperate attempt to lower gas prices by whatever means possible. Tapping into the emergency oil reserves is a bad idea. Those reserves are there for use during a pressing national emergency. Tapping in to them every time there’s an increase in the price of a barrel of oil is both gross mismanagement and a misguided misapplication of the stockpile. Not only will the reserves need to be replenished with what might well turn out to be more expensive oil, tapping into them now does nothing to address the long-term problem.

“progressives” continue to grasp at short-term straws frantically trying to make themselves look good in the eyes of low information, sound bite voters. They’re willing to do whatever it takes to win the 2012 election, even if decisions made to make themselves look good in the short term are not sound long term solutions. As radical “progressive” political strategist and leftist hero Saul Alinsky dictated: the ends justify the means.

In the interest of national security and job creation, the United States should put Americans back to work delivering American energy to Americans. This is the best way for America to become energy independent while boosting the economy. Trying to force “green energy” on America’s economy overnight will only contribute to the collapse of that economy. Evidence: Spain’s troubled financial situation and extremely high unemployment.

America doesn’t need a broken economy. America doesn’t need short-term price fixes driven by partisan political decisions. America needs and deserves sound, long term solutions that will result in energy independence.

Drill here. Drill now.

In the “definitions” section (page 2), we get (among other things):

(2) WINDFALL PROFIT – The term ‘windfall profit’ means, with respect to any sale, so much of the profit on such sale as exceeds a reasonable profit.

(4) REASONABLE PROFIT – The term ‘reasonable profit’ means the amount determined by the Reasonable Profits Board to be a reasonable profit on the sale.

That’s it! “Reasonable Profit” is anything the Reasonable Profits Board deems it to be! No specifics at all. Any profit made from selling anything made from crude oil or natural gas above what is defined as “reasonable” will be taxed thusly:

50% tax on 100% to 102% of profits deemed unreasonable

75% tax on 102% to 105% of profits deemed unreasonable

100% tax on over 105% of profits deemed unreasonable

Further, the act specifies (on page 7) that mass transit is to receive grants (spelled subsidies) from taxes imposed on unreasonable profits. The Reasonable Profits Board is established on page 8 of the act. The act calls for three members, appointed by the president, to serve for three years.

Besides gasoline, some 6,000 other products are made from crude oil. Is the Reasonable Profits Board going to limit itself to just gasoline sales, or is it going to venture into the profits of these other products?

The bill was introduced on January 18, 2012, by its sponsor, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), and its five co-sponsors, all Democrats, John Conyers (MI), Bob Filner (CA), Marcia Fudge (OH), Jim Langevin (RI) and Lynn Woolsey (CA). I guess these six Democrats have never heard of dividends or of reinvestment of capital required to find and produce more crude oil.

Oil prices climbed 2% to over $101 a barrel on growing U.S. consumer confidence and tension in the Middle East. This comes as Iran has promised to close the Strait of Hormuz and block oil exports if the West imposes sanctions on its oil shipments over it’s nuclear program. The Strait of Hormuz is a passage connecting the Gulf of Oman to the Persian Gulf and is the route for one third of the world’s oil-tanker traffic.

While Iran’s naval forces were in the midst of a 10-day war games exercise in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi issued a warning saying “If Iran oil is banned not a single drop of oil will pass through Hormuz Strait,” and “We are not interested in any hostility”. He continued on about how the West was plotting against Iran even though “Our motto is friendship and brotherhood”.

The Washington Post reported “Benchmark crude rose $1.66 to finish at $101.34 per barrel. Gasoline was flat at $2.6888 a gallon. Heating oil rose 2 cents to finish at $2.9085 a gallon. Natural gas was virtually unchanged at $3.1120 per 1,000 cubic feet. On the ICE Futures exchange in London: Brent crude rose $1.31 to finish the day at $109.27 per barrel.”

The rise in prices over the past week is being attributed to encouraging U.S. economic news pointing to stronger future demand. The New York-based Conference Board said its Consumer Confidence Index jumped close to 10 points from November, to 64.5. It’s a level that hasn’t been seen since April and was near a post-recession peak.

Computers control nearly all aspects of the worlds oil supply today. Increasingly, they are coming under more and more frequent and carefully planned cyber attacks. Hackers conduct industrial espionage and threaten potential global havoc through oil supply disruption.

“If anybody gets into the area where you can control opening and closing of valves, or release valves, you can imagine what happens,” said Ludolf Luehmann, an IT manager at Shell Europe’s biggest company .

“It will cost lives and it will cost production, it will cost money, cause fires and cause loss of containment, environmental damage – huge, huge damage,” he told the World Petroleum Congress in Doha.”

The Hackers are collecting information over prolonged periods of time. Collecting information on specific systems before launching an attack.

The unique problem facing energy companies as opposed to others is that they cannot afford to shut down the fix security patches. “Oil needs to keep on flowing,” said Riemer Brouwer, head of IT security at Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO).

Now not only the skilled, but anyone, thanks to easy access to online videos can hack into a major corporation.

Luehmann said “Everyone can hack today,”. “The number of potential hackers is not a few very skilled people — it’s everyone.”

According to the new We The People part of our government website, they want to hear from us- the actual people who make up this great nation!

We The People is Live!

Welcome to We the People on WhiteHouse.gov. This tool provides you with a new way to petition the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.

Has the Obama White House finally given up their leftist agenda? Has Barack Obama finally realized he is the President of the ENTIRE United States, rather than just the kool-aid drinkers?

I most certainly wouldn’t stake any money on it, but We The People have a chance to have our voices heard LOUD AND CLEAR!

The official White House website has a petition to open up domestic oil drilling sites, as well as refineries. The petition must have at least 5,000 signatures within 30 days of going live. This petition went live September 24, so by October 24 all of the signatures must be in. As of the time of the posting of this article, there are 23 signatures.

Go to WhiteHouse.gov to sign the petition:

Open up AMWR, the Gulf Of Mexico, and other places to domestic oil drilling, along with new refineries.

The United States needs to produce it’s own oil and do away with our reliance on foreign sources. It is imperative that we open up those areas within US property to domestic drilling and production, as well as building new refineries.

HOUSTON, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Global production of heavy crude oil, led by new output fromCanada, Venezuela and the Middle East, will rise to 12.3 million barrels per day by 2020. This estimate is drawn from short-term and medium-term projections in Hart Energy’s Heavy Crude Oil: A Global Analysis and Outlook to 2035.

The latest edition of the just-released annual study shows even greater production in the long-term project scenario, with average daily output expected to reach 16 million barrels by 2025 and maintaining this level for 10 years. Strong production increases are forecast for North America and South America, as well asAfrica and China. North America has the world’s largest combined heavy oil and bitumen resources at 2.2 trillion barrels.

Heavy crude oil does not flow as easily as light crude and is therefore more difficult and expensive to extract. Steam, natural gas or polymers are often injected into the wells to produce the oil. Despite the added costs, Laura Atkins, Hart Energy’s Director of Petroleum Research and principal author of the outlook, notes that “With worldwide sources of low cost light crude diminishing and energy needs spiraling upward each year, heavy crude oil costs are competitive with shale oil, deep-water fields, arctic development and other potential new sources of crude oil.”

Hart Energy’s 200-page study incorporates regional dispositions evaluating internal markets as well as export opportunities; country-by-country analyses focusing on companies and projects; and costs and economics. Projections are differentiated between the outlook for the short- and medium-term projects, and more speculative ones in the long term (projects not stated to start before 2020).

The Breitling-Sandy Run #1 is a 3800′ well and is targeting Miocene Sands which showed seismic amplitude anomalies on a recently acquired 3D data set.

The Sandy Run Prospect is regionally located on the Gulf Coastal Plain with structural dip predominantly in a south to southwest direction. Sandy Run is on strike with numerous Frio gas fields found to the northwest in Amite Co., Mississippi. These Frio fields were found using seismic that identified the reservoirs by a similar amplitude anomaly.

Breitling Oil and Gas expects to recover reserves of 6 to 9 BCF of natural gas.

Management anticipates the well will reach total depth in about 7 days. Well completion and testing should begin during the first week of July.

Breitling Oil and Gas CEO Chris Faulkner stated, “I am pretty bullish on natural gas pricing over the next 18 months so it’s the perfect time to drill the Breitling Sandy Run.” Faulkner added, “We have great well control and 3D over the prospect and the reserves could be sizeable.”

An additional 3 wells can be drilled if commercial production is found in the initial test well. Breitling has current oil and gas exploration projects all over the United States.

For more information on this and other activities of the Company, see the Breitling Oil and Gas website at http://www.breitlingoilandgas.com.

Just when Americans are realising that Barack Hussein Obama is in fact an anti-American Socio-Marxist at heart, Mr. Obama shows us that he has deep Communist sympathies in an announcement from the UK Telegraph:

Another slap in the face for Britain: the Obama administration sides with Argentina and Venezuela in OAS declaration on the Falklands.President Obama was effusive in his praise for the Special Relationship when he visited London recently, but his administration continues to slap Britain in the face over the highly sensitive Falklands issue. Washington signed on to a “draft declaration on the question of the Malvinas Islands” passed by unanimous consent by the General Assembly of the Organisation of American States (OAS) at its meeting in San Salvador yesterday, an issue which had been heavily pushed by Argentina. In doing so, the United States sided not only with Buenos Aires, but also with a number of anti-American regimes including Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela and Daniel Ortega’s Nicaragua. (emphasis mine)

While many South American and Central American history experts that Socialism is indeed once again creeping into the region just south of the American border, many also agree with the theory that this is indeed Soft Communism. For many readers uninformed with the aspects of Communism, its history, and it’s true meaning, please DO NOT IGNORE that very informative link. This gives us some very deep insight into some of Barack Hussein Obama’s actions. Socialism is in fact, the basis for the injection of stealth Communism and despot dictatorships onto unsuspecting or uninformed citizens throughout world history. This is also the root anti-Americanism that now threatens America from within. Socialists/Marxists.Communists hate capitalism, the very same capitalism that has made America the freeest, greatest, most prosperous nation on earth for over 200 years!

For the doubters out there that do not see this as Obama siding with South American Communists like Hugo Chavez against our main ally in Europe as a pattern that shows Obama’s true ideology, I point you to his recent trip to Brazil, where I wrote about another Marxist Rebel, the newly installed President of Brazil:

Obama should feel right at home with the new president of Brazil, as she is an extreme form of community organizer in which she was a Rebel, a left of center politician, is a former guerrilla, who was reportedly a torture victim, and also somehow considered to have been an economist. First and foremost, she is a hand-picked Lulu President and his former chief of staff, and there is no valid reason to think this isn’t just an extension of Lulu’s rule.

There is a South and Central American pattern emerging and it is not good for America. During Obama’s trip to Brazil, the media played up the economic partnership theme and largely ignored just who the Barack Obama’s new adoring friend, the President of Brazil really is. Concerned Americans from what the Liberal media constantly calls “the right wing extremists” such as Glenn Beck and citizen writers like myself did in fact report on the Marxist Rebel, Dilma Rousseff, who was imprisoned for trying to overthrow the government of Brazil, and who has now been inserted as the new President by the previous dictator LuLu. President Rousseff also has a past that mirrors a long-time American terrorist, Weather Underground leader and Marxist, one Bill Ayers, who just like Rousseff, bombed buildings and robbed banks, while all the time calling for the overthrow of their respectvie governments. Bill Ayers is also a long-time pal and mentor of Obama, whether either of them admit it or not today. Obama’s first run for big-time political office within the U.S. Senate was announced from… Bill Ayers living room! There is an undeniable pattern developing here of proven Marxist ideology worship being proven to be the core beliefs of the President of the United States.

Secretary of State, Liberal Democrat Hillary Clinton, also sided with Ortega and Chavez, who also have direct ties to Iran, Russia, and China, in this issue in 2010, in a speech in Buenos Aires as The Heritage Foundation reported upon here:

Washington backed a similar resolution last June, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear in a joint press conference with Kirchner in Buenos Aires in March 2010 that the Obama Administration fully backs Argentina’s calls for negotiations over the Falklands, handing her Argentine counterpart a significant propaganda coup. The State Department has also insultingly referred to the islands in the past as the “Malvinas Islands,” the Argentine name for them. (emphasis mine)

Back in 1982 Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands and captured 1800 British citizens. That is a lot of people considering that the population was said to be 1813 in 1980. The citizens themselves want nothing to do with Argentina, and yet the propaganda machines in the U.N. Human rights divisions along with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are slapping the U.K., the U.S. ally right in the face over this issue. What could possibly be behind this push to let Argentina take over the Falkland islands? This just might blow some Liberal minds here, along with the rest of the world that isn’t aware of the facts behind the current attempt to take over the Falkland Islands. Wait for it…. the Liberal Democratic party’s much hated big oil! That’s right, there have recently been big oil deposits discovered off the coast of the Falklands said to contain 60 Billion barrels of oil under the seabed surrounding the Falklands islands! So there we see the truth. Liberal Socialist Big-Oil hating Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama are in bed with South American Despots Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega to enable them to steal the oil around the Falkland Islands! There in fact, was a signed agreement between Argentina and the U.K. all the way back in 1995 that Argentina unilaterally withdrew in 2007, once they realised how much oil was really there.

A 1995 agreement between the UK and Argentina had set the terms for exploitation of offshore resources including oil reserves[97] as geological surveys had shown there might be up to 60 billion barrels (9.5 billion cubic metres) of oil under the sea bed surrounding the islands.[98] However, in 2007 Argentina unilaterally withdrew from the agreement.[99] In response, Falklands Oil and Gas Limited has signed an agreement with BHP Billiton to investigate the potential exploitation of oil reserves.[100] Climatic conditions of the southern seas mean that exploitation will be a difficult task, though economically viable, and the continuing sovereignty dispute with Argentina is hampering progress.[101] In February 2010, exploratory drilling for oil was begun by Desire Petroleum,[102] but the results from the first test well were disappointing.[103] Two months later, on 6 May 2010, Rockhopper Exploration announced that “it may have struck oil“.[104] On Friday 17 September 2010 Rockhopper Exploration released news that a flow test of the Sea-Lion 1 discovery was a commercially viable find.[105] In February 2011 Rockhopper Exploration commenced an appraisal programme of the Sea-Lion discovery. An update of the first appraisal drill were released on Monday 21 March 2011 indicating a significant reservoir package with a downhole mini Drill Stern Test flowing oil at better rates then the September 2010 flow test: confidence in the commerciality of the Sea Lion discovery has been increased by this first appraisal.[106]

If you will notice the dates I have emphasised above, we see the direct correlation between the uptick in bigger oil deposit discoveries and Hillary Clinton’s announced support for Hugo Chavez to take over the Falkland islands, and then again in March of this year when Barack Obama’s administration announces adoring support for Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega’s blatant attemp to steal the oil from the citizens of the Falklands. So there we have it, Liberals that basically stopped American oil extraction and production for the past three years, in bed with Communist-Socialist South American dictators to allow them to effectively steal another country’s oil deposits! Is this what the Liberals mean when they chant, “This is what Democracy looks like ?” Some people may try to spin this escapade into saying that Obama and Hillary just want to be a “good customer” of Daniel Ortega’s and Hugo Chavez’ future oil exports, just like he announced in Brazil recently. Yet one has to wonder just how that would fit in with Obamas constant statement of reducing our dependence on foreign oil? Could it be that Obama and company are finally realising that alternative energy currently can not even supply a meager 10% of America’s energy? Maybe the Liberal eco-terrorists finally realised that the electric cars they say will save the world actually have to have oil and coal based electricity to charge them up? Where are all the liberal hypocrites demanding a moratorium on oil drilling around the Falkland Islands ? What is that I hear? Crickets.

By moving traditionally legislative actions into the executive branch, President Obama does not need to depend on a Congress that may not be able to produce the laws needed to force his progressive agenda on the whole of America. What he has failed to recognize is that the approach has a major flaw that could leave his legacy .. empty.

The latest of Obama’s regulatory pushes is the EPA’s push to limit CO2 by stretching the intent of the clean air act to illogical extents. By simply “declaring” carbon dioxide, the same element in human exhalation, a pollutant, the executive branch agency can create legally enforceable regulations that can limit anything that produces, and perhaps consumes, the life-giving molecule.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on H.R. 910 last month in response to the administration’s dictator-like actions. The Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011 is a bill that would prohibit the EPA Administrator from regulating carbon dioxide. It passed the house 255-172, but will likely die in the progressive-heavy Senate. The executive branch trumps the legislative – what happened to checks and balances?

In April, CDN reported on the EPA’s successful maneuver to block Shell Oil from drilling in the arctic sea. As the article shows, EPA head Lisa Jackson and her band of progressive extremists didn’t use the law, didn’t even try to fight the actual act of drilling – they killed the project because of the CO2 emissions of a single ship.

The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling. (emphasis mine)

Right out of Saul Alisnky’s teachings the EPA uses ridiculous guidelines, that no one could possibly follow, to grind the American business machine into the ground.

Where the Obama team has been short-sighted is in thinking that this tactic will create lasting change. By relying on the executive branch’s authority, all one needs to do to reverse it is .. that’s right .. change the executive.

If Kathlene Sebelius uses regulation to define a market-killing health care system, whomever the next president chooses to replace her will undo it. Which will effectively render the law worthless precisely because it relies too heavily on regulatory authority and not enough on legislative backing.

This will apply to the EPA’s overreach on CO2, health care regulation and anything else the Obama administration dreams up. This is up to the will of the people. The founders of our nation may just have been even more wise than we have or can imagine.

On April 25, 2011 Shell Oil Corporation announced it was dropping it’s efforts to drill for oil in the Arctic Sea off the northern coast of Alaska. This decision comes after 5 long years of jumping through the governmental hoops of massive regulations, careful, tedious exploration and the expense of investing over 4 billion dollars in the project. So just what caused Shell to accept the massive monetary losses and drop the project? Was it due to the fact that they couldn’t find enough oil there to make a profit? Apparently that is not the case, as there are an estimated 27 billion barrels of oil just sitting there waiting for extraction. Could Shell’s reason for dropping a 4 billion dollar project be that there is no demand for all of that oil in the U.S. today? With current gasoline prices over $4.00 a gallon across the nation that hardly seems like a valid reason to not extract that domestic oil in the Arctic Sea. Supply and demand are what drive gasoline prices, no matter who tells you anything different.

So why is Shell being forced to accept 4 billion dollars in losses in pulling out it’s drilling operations in the Arctic Sea near Alaska? The answer to that question can be found in 3 simple little letters: EPA , as in the infamous Environmental Protection Agency. Just do not try to get an exact answer from Obama appointee Lisa Jackson, the current EPA administrator, as she refuses to answer phone calls or emails to explain this ludicrous decision by her four radical Democrats on the board that denied an “air quality permit” for Shell to drill in the region. So much for accountability in our government once again from an Obama appointee. They have a pattern of making radical decisions, and then refusing to explain them to the very people who pay their salaries. I offer this article from FoxNews as proof of just who is behind this ludicrous decision, and how they refuse to tell the people why they have made such a blatantly extreme decision.

The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling. (emphasis mine)

After 5 years and 4 billion dollars, the Democratic extremists on a panel for the EPA have denied the extraction of 27 billion barrels of our very own oil for… wait for it…the fact that ice-breaking vessels burn fuel, and therefor emit pollution. Does this mean that every ship traveling in our waters will be shut down also because they all burn fuel of one type of the other. No, this only means that the evil capitalists at Shell Oil will be stopped from producing millions of dollars of oil for U.S. consumption because they ‘gasp’ did not include the emissions from the ice breaking ships in their total environmental impact figures for air quality control. If crab fishermen in Alaska get stuck in the ice this year, does this mean that the ice breaking ships will be told to let them sit there and freeze to death until Lisa Jackson’s radical EPA board checks their emission statements too? There is no difference there. These people on this EPA board, including Lisa Jackson are extreme activists, hypocrites and liars, period. From the prior linked Foxnews article we see who they really are:

The EPA did not return repeated calls and e-mails. The Environmental Appeals Board has four members: Edward Reich, Charles Sheehan, Kathie Stein and Anna Wolgast. All are registered Democrats and Kathie Stein was an activist attorney for the Environmental Defense Fund. Members are appointed by the EPA administrator. Alaska’s Republican senator thinks it’s time to make some changes. (emphasis mine)

There you have it, an EPA board which includes an appointed political activist lawyer, all of them Democrats, has denied Shell Oil the rights to extract the oil in the Arctic Sea due solely to the emissions of the ice breaking ships. Will Lisa Jackson and this board write the refund check to Shell oil for the billions of dollars they are out of due to this environmental extremist board’s decision ? No I,m not talking about a check drawn on the taxpayers account here, but instead a personal check drawn on the accounts of these five people who bear responsibility for this nonsense. Maybe that would make them think twice before trying a politically motivated stunt like this the next time they get asked to make a decision that will affect every single tax paying American citizen.

Steve Maley, over at Redstate.com also makes a very good point about the main agenda behind this decision here, in which he shows us the ultimate motive behind this action, shutting down the Alaska Pipeline:

But the real motivation, the real prize, is the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. The design throughput of the pipe is in excess of 2 million barrels of oil per day; recent throughput is around 600,000 barrels per day. At some limiting rate (I’ve heard 200,000 barrels per day), the cost to operate the line will exceed the value of operating it, and it will be shut down. Pipeline shut-down is the ultimate goal of the environmental movement. Not just ANWR, but any new development must be stopped so that TAPS dies an early and unnatural death.

Since the U.S. House of Representatives recently voted to de-fund the domestic terrorists over at the EPA, only to be denied by the career politicians in the U.S. Senate, I think we need to remember these Senate tyrants in 2012, and replace them with some people who will actually protect U.S. citizens from this kind of blatant abuse of power.
