Federal Debt Report/ Feb. 2011

America’s National Debt rose by another $63.7 billion dollars in the month of February, according to the Bureau of Public Debt*. That currently leaves us with a grand total of $14.195 trillions of debt as of March 1st, 2011. In a behind the scenes move to try to postpone having to raise the debt ceiling, the Obama administration and Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geitner dipped into the treasuries cash reserves. I suppose that it would be pretty awkward to add an increase of our debt ceiling into the mixture of budget battles going on in Congress right now, and their timid attempts at trying to keep our government from shutting down.

To the left here we see President Obama signing an executive order to create a budget commission. There was lots of pomp and celebration about how Obama is taking a step forward to address our current fiscal insanity and massive debt problem. With the help of the Media puppets, this was celebrated as if someone had invented a cure for the worst plague to ever threaten America: Our National Debt. They hadn’t even held one meeting and the MSM was talking about how great the chosen one was for coming up with such a brilliant idea, to hear them tell it 24/7 at the time.

These gentlemen called all kinds of meetings, conferences, and hearings to try to come up with viable working solutions to our looming national bankruptcy. They included top business executives, past budget hawks, U. S.  Congressmen and Senators. all putting their knowledge and experience together to try to find a debt solution. In the end they came up with a variety of plans, but couldn’t reach a simple concensus on even the most basic of actions needed, such as which budget cuts to make, whether to raise taxes and upon whom, and what other ways we could reduce our massive debt burden. They came up with reports that contained a variety of needed measures to avoid economic an collapse in America. They then submitted  these reports to the President, The Treasury and the U.S  Congress. After which, the President submitted a budget proposal to Congress that ignored every single reality and recomendation that was in the budget commission’s reports. To put it bluntly, it was all a charade to make Obama look like some kind of hero. This charade was totally exposed when Obama blatantly ignored the reality of their reports, and submitted a budget that continues to expand our national debt to the point of insolvency today.

President Obama, Why aren’t we..

Oratory, promises, statements, pleas for acceptance.  Obama has worn his heart on his sleeve, much like the liberals that slaughter the rear-end of their automobiles with stickers to espouse their love for the killing of the unborn, the forcing of the will of the government on us all and whatever new oppressive piece of false-front selfishness shows up on the Huffington Post or Daily KOS.

In re-reading Obama’s innaguration speech, I find many statements about the things Mr. Obama thought we must do and I ask, if we should have been doing these things since January of ’09, why aren’t we?

“We come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises”, Obama says. His administration has expended great amounts of energy airing its grievances against the Chamber of Commerce, the wealthy, corporations, the Tea Party, Conservatives.. seriously, petty?  We heard that the stimulus would prevent unemployment above 8%, that we wouldn’t have lobbyists in the administration, that an open hand would positively affect our international relations with the likes of Iran and North Korea; that we would have a less-partisan Washington, well.. why don’t we?

“We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age”.  The odd thing on greenish stuff is that it’s not the GOP slowing Obama down, it’s his own party.  Eco-freaks are filing expensive law suits to prevent the building of wind and solar farms.  If wind is so great, why are progressives fighting it? If GM’s Volt is the answer to our foreign oil dependence, why isn’t anyone buying them? If we are supposed to be building up a successful economic sector around green jobs – why aren’t we?

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small..” Obama got this one right – this isn’t a question, we know the answer – it’s too big and getting bigger. Obama’s new budget will increase the national debt by $7.2 TRILLION over the next decade. Obama even made a campaign promise to cut the deficit in half within his first term. Well, Mr President, why aren’t you?

“And those of us who manage the public’s dollars will be held to account, to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day..” Just pointing out all the falsehoods here would take a book.. dems fighting the Senators that want to fight raising the debt ceiling, the lack of transparency (no posting bills online, backroom meetings without C-SPAN, recess appointments for critical administartion officials .. one could go on) – If we were to spend wisely and do our business in the light of day- why aren’t we?

“..and so, to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity” – unless you were Egyptian in the early days of the January 25th revolution or of course, Israeli.

“We will not apologize for our way of life nor will we waver in its defense..” – Obama, you’ve apologized for everything under the sun, including STDs in Guatamala .. 70 years ago.  As far as defense, isn’t the Commander-in-Chief (a term I use lightly) more concerned with the potlical perspective of what happens in Afghanistan than completing the mission? How long did the Afghanistan surge approval take for Obama to give once the generals had recommended it?

“To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history” of course, unless you are a Democrat. Anyone remember the Black Panther DOJ mess?  Yeah, the White house surely doesn’t want to. Obama’s infamous line, “let me be clear..” is often followed by some cocky slight of Conservative values and supported by policies like Net Neutrality and the Fairness Doctrine that seek to quiet those who disagree with the progressive agenda.

Obama also said: “The challenges we face are real.. They will be met”, although Obama has said that he feels that 70% of his objectives have been met .. the rest of the American population is left feeling that we aren’t meeting any challenges and are wincing at the thought of what the remaining 30% will do to the country.

I’ll leave you with a quote from George Washington:

“Let it be told to the future world that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet it.”

This one – great American Conservatives are taking care for you – well not really for you.

Bring on 2012.

States owe feds 42 Billion for Unemployment Payout

Imagine a what $42 Billion dollars would look like considering the picture here represents about $1oo,ooo  bucks. It would take 420,000 of these same piles to equal the amount 30 States owe the federal government this year for the Unemployment payouts. When Republicans called for an end to unemployment extensions they were called heartless. Next week those same “Heartless Republicans” will be shown to have been correct in the fact that those unemployment extensions are proving to push more States further in debt towards bankruptcy, when President Obama unveils his budget plan.

The administration is proposing short-term relief to the States enhanced debt problems due to Unemployment costs. As we see once again, when the Obama administration says they won’t raise taxes on the middle class it ends up being more smoke and mirrors. There already are taxes being raised on everyone in the form of higher State taxes due to the actions of President Obama’s Democrats in the last four years of total control of Congress. FoxNews.com *   reported about this coming to a head in Obama’s budget plan unveiling due next week:

“Rising unemployment has placed such a burden on states that 30 of them owe the federal government $42 billion in money borrowed to meet their unemployment insurance obligations. Three states already have had to raise taxes to begin paying back the money they owe. More than 20 other states likely would have to raise taxes to cover their unemployment insurance debts. Under federal law, such tax increases are automatic once the money owed reaches a certain level.”

Not only is this more irresponsible shuffling of the debt to later years, it is also certain to allow more federal intrusion into State’s Unemployment programs. Bottom line is that when Democrats insisted on extending Unemployment benefits to look like champions for the working class, they have in fact caused a domino effect of tax increases beyond anyone’s ability to calculate. The feds didn’t just “give” this money to the States, it comes with interest charges and also lets the Feds into more of State’s business, as we see alluded to further down in the Fox News article:

” Though the administration could face criticism for enabling states to increase taxes, the thrust of the administration’s argument is that federal taxes would not increase and that the move is fiscally prudent because the federal government ultimately would be repaid at a faster rate than if it did nothing.” (emphasis mine)

When I describe the irresponsible shuffling of this debt to later years, the last paragraph in the Fox News piece confirms it:

”  The person who described the plan said only 13 of the 30 states that owe the $42 billion would be expected to repay their share of the money in the next nine years under current conditions. The administration’s proposal would allow 15 more states to repay the money, this person said.”

Only 13 of the 30 States would be expected to repay this in the next 9 years ?  Just what is that supposed to mean there? With the recent announcement of the fake Unemployement numbers from this administration, how in the world can anyone gauge when and if this debt will ever be able to be repaid? Unemployment went down to 9% and this administration crowed about it long and loud across the nation. What they failed to tell folks, is that those figures are based on 500,000 people taken out of the workforce total completely, because their unemployment ran out and they aren’t looking for jobs. So in truth we actually have more people without jobs and the ability to earn a living today than they want to tell us . Now we have $42 billion dollars of State unemployment debt that will mandate tax increases on everyone. We have the Democrats to thank for this crushing State debt, and they had the nerve to call Republicans heartless for trying to avoid it. I wonder what other aspects of Democratic Budgetary ignorance will come to light in the President’s budget plan next week?  Stay tuned.
