Postal Workers Caught in Tax Refund Fraud

usps-truck

A ring of criminals operating out of the Dominican Republic have been running a massive income tax refund scam in which billions of false income tax filings have cost the taxpayers billions of dollars in losses. In an article in The Wall Street Journal we see the following information:

Between October 2010 and June 2011, the IRS received phony tax returns based on stolen Puerto Rican identities that would have led to the disbursement of $5.6 billion to alleged fraudsters, two of these people said. It is unclear how much money the IRS ultimately sent but one person familiar with the matter said an estimated $2 billion in checks was distributed.

Bronx mail carrier Robert Anthony Warren and at least two other USPS employees have been convicted and are doing prison time for their part in the scam. Back in September five men were also convicted of participating in the same scam and sentenced to between 40 and 98 months in prison, while also being ordered to pay a whopping $12 million in restitution. Good luck recovering any of that cash there. With all of these arrests and convictions, has the oh-so-competent federal government shut down this scam for good? Not quite, as can be seen in a statement from the Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, whose office was among the first to investigate the group: (emphasis added)

“What we have uncovered may very well be the tip of the iceberg,” said Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, whose office was among the first to investigate the group. “It’s a massive fraud.”

With a federal government that is running up trillion dollar deficits faster than the Roadrunner rocketing past the outgunned Wiley E. Coyote in cartoon-land,  as the federal bureaucracy grows bigger by the minute….so increases these numbers of incidents that highlight their incompetence and dysfunctionality. In the meantime, Senate progressives are currently working tirelessly (yes.. sarcasm intended) to rig up a massive $42 billion-dollar-bailout of the USPS UNION pension fund under the guise of…. reform.  From the thieves that are scamming the taxpayers from the Dominican Republic through fraudulent tax refund checks, to today’s Senate Socialists giving their Democrat-supporting labor [USPS] Unions $42 billion tax dollars, America is being robbed blind on a daily basis, in more ways than one. Americans should keep this in mind as they head to the voting booth in November.

SB1: Indiana’s “No Illegal Police Entry” Bill

Last night, the Indiana General Assembly passed Senate Bill 1, which, once signed into law, will resolve a nearly year-long deprivation of the civil rights of residents of the State of Indiana. Readers who have followed me for the last year will be aware of my previous “Outrage In Indiana” posts on this very subject. For those who haven’t, let me recap.

In Part One, on May 13th of last year, I described the appalling decision by Indiana’s State Supreme Court in the case of Barnes v. State of Indiana. The court determined that a private person had no right to resist unlawful police burglary of their home. I detailed the 800-year-old legal precedents which allow for such use of force, and the farce of the court’s decision. In Part Two, I published an open letter to Governor Mitch Daniels, imploring him to take whatever action he possibly could to provide relief to Hoosiers subjected to police lawlessness. In Part Three, I published the very thoughtful response I received from his office.

To review the matter at hand: Richard Barnes had an argument with his wife, and neighbors called the police. Upon their arrival, the Barneses had reentered their home, and no further argument was occurring. Officers Lenny Reed and Jason Henry (more on them in a moment) insisted on entering the home, and Mr. Barnes refused them entry. The police, unlawfully, entered the home anyway. Mr. Barnes attempted to use non-deadly force to expel them, and he was tased and arrested.

Eight centuries of legal precedent, from the Magna Carta to two 20th century SCOTUS decisions, explicitly authorize the use of reasonable force to prevent unlawful acts of the police. The laws of the state of Indiana do not privilege police officers from justified force if they are acting outside the bounds of the law. The Fourth Amendment, and a substantially similar provision in Indiana’s Constitution prohibit precisely this conduct- the unwarranted and unlawful entry into a private home by government agents.

Nonetheless, Indiana’s Supreme Court ignored the eight centuries of legal tradition, multiple decisions of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Constitution, and the Constitution and laws of Indiana, and determined that a Hoosier’s only lawful recourse was to sue the police agency for damages after being the victim of a violent crime (in this case, burglary and assault) committed by a police officer.

Our Second, Third, and Fourth Amendment rights were established by our Founding Fathers for expressly this reason: Prior to, and during, the American Revolution, armed agents of the British government- soldiers- would routinely enter private homes without cause, assault homeowners and arrest them without charges, and quarter themselves in private homes in order to intimidate homeowners into submission. Expressly for this reason, we have a right to keep and bear arms, a freedom from quartering in private homes, and a freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures.

We also have a natural, or God-given (depending on your outlook), right of self-defense, a topic which I have written about extensively. The instinct to protect ourselves, our families, and our property from violent attack is as natural to us as the need to eat. A government decree that a certain class of persons- namely, police officers- are “untouchable”, and may commit violent crimes at will, and the prosecution of private persons who exercise this right against them, is wholly offensive to the basic principles enshrined in our founding document.

Thankfully, Indiana’s legislature has taken up the cause of preserving individual liberties in this matter. Senate Bill 1, introduced by State Senator Mike Young and sponsored by numerous other state legislators, seeks to amend the Indiana Code to explicitly authorize the use of reasonable force against law enforcement officers who commit crimes against private persons.

In short, SB1 changes the language of the state’s use-of-force laws to state that “any person” may be the recipient of defensive force, and adds a section specifically addressing the use of force against police officers. This section authorizes the use of non-deadly force against “any law enforcement officer” to prevent the police officer’s criminal attack upon the person or property, and authorizes deadly force to prevent a law enforcement officer’s criminal attack which may inflict death or serious bodily injury.

Once signed into law, Indiana will become only the second state in the nation to specifically authorize the use of force against police officers acting unlawfully. North Dakota authorizes the use of force to terminate a police officer’s unlawful use of deadly force. Indiana’s statute would dramatically exceed this limited level of protection.

I applaud the state legislature for taking this necessary step to improve the right of self-defense. I also understand Sen. Young is facing a primary challenge this year. I hope Hoosiers will go to the polls in droves and show their support for this fine representative of the people.

And on a final, and ignominious note: Officer Lenny Reed, one of the two goons who burglarized Mr. Barnes’ home, and (ironically) the medic for Evansville PD’s SWAT team, was also involved in an incident involving racial profiling and substantial damage to an innocent man’s RV- which the man was delivering to a buyer- when Reed initiated a wrongful drug search. This incident occurred less than four months before the Indiana Supreme Court’s Barnes decision. Inexplicably, Reed was promoted to Sergeant during roughly the same time frame.

The other goon involved, Officer Jason Henry, resigned from Evansville Police Department after beating up a former sheriff’s deputy, only three months before the Barnes decision. The beating occurred at a meeting of the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police, no less.

Residents of Vanderburgh County have ample reason to question Evansville Police Chief Brad Hill’s professional judgment. Apparently Hoosiers can’t even rely upon the common sense of local officials and police administrators for relief from police lawlessness, which makes the passage of SB1 all the more vital. Mary Beth Schneider of the Indianapolis Star tweeted last night that SB1 passed the Indiana Senate 38-12 and passed the Indiana House 67-26, and is now on its way to Governor Daniels’ desk.

Many thanks to my dear friend April Gregory for her invaluable assistance in researching this post.

Payroll Tax Debate: The Truth Comes Out in the U.S. Senate

On Thursday, Dec.1st the battle to extend the payroll tax holiday and unemployment insurance benefits reached new heights in the Senate, as not only did Republicans battle Democrats, but both parties saw raging fights within their own ranks over how to pay for the extensions, along with whether the tax holiday should even be extended at all. In the end, once again, nothing was accomplished

The Senate Republican bill won only 20 votes, less than half the GOP conference. The Democratic bill also went down in flames, 51-49, failing to muster the 60 votes needed for passage. The debates included back and forth rhetoric on whether the tax holiday actually has ever created jobs or improved the economy, the fact that the Democrat’s bill was weakening Seniors Social Security programs by lessening revenues. Here is a common sense question that will never be asked in the elitist halls of Congress during these debates: Why not give the holiday tax break to all of America’s workers by cutting federal payroll taxes, instead of SSI payroll taxes? (fica) That way you give the workers more money in their pocket, while at the same time keep funds coming into an already under-funded SSI program.

The Truth: Senate Republican leaders introduced a bill that would keep the payroll tax rate at its current level for another year. The cost is roughly $120 billion. Senate Republicans would offset most of the cost by freezing the pay of federal employees through 2015 and gradually reducing the federal work force by 10 percent. In addition, Senate Republican leaders would go after “millionaires and billionaires,” not by raising their taxes but by making them ineligible for unemployment compensation and food stamps and increasing their Medicare premiums. ← These facts are basically being ignored in the media today.

Fact: The Congressional Budget Office said the Republican bill would reduce federal deficits by $111 billion, mainly because of the pay freeze and the reduction in the federal work force.

Senate Democratic leaders want a deeper temporary reduction in Social Security payroll taxes. They would provide payroll tax relief to employers as well as employees. And they would offset the cost with a 3.25 percent surtax on modified adjusted gross income in excess of $1 million.  Once again, instead of working with Republicans to get our out- of – control spending under control, Liberal Democrats in the Senate want to grow government by taxing Americans more. Spend, spend spend is all these tyrants want to do, with no regards to fiscal sanity in any way shape or form. Here are a few quotes from the Senate payroll tax debate yesterday, that may surprise some of our readers:

After House Speaker Boehner alluded to the benefits of the tax holiday as, “I don’t think there’s any question that the payroll tax relief, in fact, helps the economy. You’re allowing more Americans, frankly, every working American, to keep more of their money in their pocket,” the Speaker added. “Frankly, that’s a good thing.”

To which, Senator Orin Hatch then responded, “If they could show me a lot of increases in jobs or something, that’s a different matter,” Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the ranking Republican on the Finance Committee, said Wednesday. “But I don’t think they’ve been able to show that.”

Then we have a strong statement from Senate Democrat Joe Manchin: “Letting Americans believe that we don’t have to pay for Social Security is wrong. It is dead wrong,” Manchin said. “And I will not vote for it. Period. Under any condition.” Finally, common sense rears it’s long-forgotten head up in the Senate!

And finally, Senator Mark Krik (R – Ill) threw in another dose of reality: “I don’t think seniors should be based on a ‘trust us’ policy, that we’ll pay you back,” Kirk added. “And I would actually say even the political vote is to vote against this so that you’re for Social Security.”

Today, the House is supposed to come out with their own version of the tax holiday and unemployment benefits extension bill. The vicious cycle of the irresponsible debt-spending versus a fiscally responsible government-political-battle rages on with exactly no Presidential leadership anywhere to be found. Barack Obama is too busy waging class warfare in campaign fund-raising speeches on the taxpayers dime for the 70th time in 2011,… to actually concern himself with doing his job as President of the United States.

2012 just can’t get here fast enough!

Lets Give the Liberals the Tax Hikes They Demand: Thanksgiving Edition

As the sweet aroma of Mom’s pumpkin pie fills the home this Thanksgiving morning, and with the turkey all set to go into the oven, I decided to take the time out to give thanks to Rich Mitchell and the CDN staff for giving me the platform to share my conservative news and opinion articles today. The following is my contribution to the CDN mission by producing some out-of-the-box ideas on the most important issue facing Americans in the coming year: How to reduce our massive national debt, and how to unlock the current Congressional stalemate by giving the Democrats the tax hikes they so fiercely demand. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at CDN. Enjoy your day.

It is once again time to call the Liberal Democrat’s bluff. Let’s give them the tax increases they so heartily demand, but on their own stated ideological terms. Liberals have certain planks in their ideology that must be used in the tax increase debate up in Congress. This proposed tax increase leglislation has to include such lovely-sounding Liberal catch-phrases of wealth redistribution, social justice, equal justice, and President Obama’s personal favorite, community service. (while keeping in mind the Democrat’s past history of reneging on promised cuts in federal spending.)

Let’s start out by taking Wolf Blitzer’s often-asked question of whether GOP Presidential candidates would accept a 10 to 1 ratio of budget cuts to tax increase dollars. The GOP must call the Liberal media’s bluff and accept that scenario… in an intelligent, yet very simple way. Draw up the bill in the House of Representatives immediately that says yes, the GOP will accept $10 dollars in budget cuts for every single dollar in increases taxes. That is straight forward and simple enough, even for the mathematically challenged Democrats and President Obama to understand.  Now that we have agreed to Wolf Blitzer’s leftist-parroted demands for those tax increases during the current recession, let’s take it one step further in appeasing the Liberals. Let’s add the Liberal/OWS ideological planks of equal justice, social justice, wealth redistribution and community service into the new tax increase bill shall we?

Introducing HR-2011-The Liberal Tax Increase Bill of 2011- (NOT an actual bill in congress)

Bill Sponsored by DJ Redman  No Co-sponsors to date.

Section 1-A: Equal Justice for all in the form of tax increases.

Equal justice means just what the title says. Equal treatment for all Americans, regardless of race, national origin, income status, or political affiliation. Therefore, in keeping with the Liberal ideology of “equal justice for all” the tax increases will be applied to every adult of working age in America.( whether they actually work or not) Section 1-A of the Liberal tax increase bill of 2011,may also be referred to as, “Equal justice in paying your fair share in America.” In this section there will be a means tested chart for how much new taxes will be levied on every person in the USA, illegals included, regardless of private sector income. Welfare checks, rent subsidies, WIC coupons, utility bill payments, food stamps and every other hidden government pay- for- not- working entitlement program will be taxed before checks/payments will be sent out. Equal justice, as in everyone paying their fair share as outlined in this section should really have the support of every debt-spending Liberal in Congress, hands down. If the workers of America have to pay more taxes on their hard-earned wealth, making the non-workers pay taxes on their government handouts should also make the Unions quite happy. Millionaire Union Chiefs could say they are working hard to protect the workers in America by supporting tax increases on the freeloaders and non-producers of our society who unfairly burden their working class Union members. This section will do wonders for the entitlement class in America as they will be able to now stand up and be counted as actual taxpayers, instead of a 100% parasitic drain on society.

Section 1-B of the Liberal Tax Increase Bill of 2011 will include several measures of the Liberals beloved “Social Justice” plank.

Section 1-B will include mandatory work for welfare reforms built upon the 1994 GOP Welfare reform plan that reduced the number of people on welfare by 50% by the year 1998. Social justice demands that the welfare class do their part in society to reduce our national debt and rebuild America. Work for welfare will also have the added benefit of restoring some self-respect into the welfare class, so that when they scurry to their mailbox for their government entitlement ”paychecks” as they like to call them, they will have the added pleasure of knowing that they have actually earned that money. Social Justice will be well-served in this action, by evening out the class warfare of today that is being caused by 50% of the population demanding that the working class support them. True Social Justice demands that the working class be represented equally, not just the racial politics-driven minorities, the poor, or the illegal aliens in America.

Section 1–C of the Liberal Tax Increase Bill of 2011 will also include a healthy dose of the wealth redistribution that President Obama has pushed his Democrats to achieve for 3 straight years. As in any “Social Justice, and Equal Justice” driven wealth redistributive policies, there has to be fairness across the economic spectrum. This has to start with sections 1-A and 1-B, where everyone not only shares in the wealth created by the citizenry, but also must include the sharing of the debt that the very government they have elected has created. There is no justice of any form inherent in the Liberal ideology of sharing in the wealth while refusing to share in the debt at the same time, period. Every single adult in America will share in our debt, one way or the other. This is a true form of Social Justice, so it should receive 100% Democratic support. In order to not infuriate the welfare class, we will use a long standing Democratic budgetary trick in not calling it a welfare tax. Let’s instead label it “Processing Fees to Improve America” on all unearned entitlement check stubs. That way, Democrats can stand up in Congress and tell their voting base that they did not, in fact raise taxes on them. (wink) Section 1-C simply states that every adult in America will now share in our national debt, not just the working class and job-creating business class.

Section 2 of the Liberal Tax Increase Bill of 2011 will contain  penalties  provisions that simply states that any elected official found to be in violation of the 10 to 1 budget cuts to tax increases ratio in this bill, (as Democrats did when they increased spending by $480 billion after promising President Reagan $280 billion in cuts) will face an immediate Bernie Madoff-style trial after being suspended from Congress. For every dollar they are found to be increasing in spending instead of cutting, they will forfeit $10 dollars of their personal wealth, most of which they have acquired through illegal insider trading and ripping off the taxpayers to begin with. Every elected official who’s signature is found to be on any spending bill breaking the 10 to 1 budget cuts to tax increases provisions in this bill will share equally in paying off the illegal increased spending. How;s that for “Equal Justice” Congress ? We the people will now be able to hold elected officials responsible for their debt-spending thanks to the Liberal tax Increase bill of 2011. In the case of elected members of Congress found guilty of  increasing spending under this new law, and who can not afford to repay the citizenry the full amount, see section 3.

Section -2-A of the Liberal Tax Increase Bill of 2011 will include a very healthy dose of Barack Obama’s ideological roots that propelled him into politics in the first place: Community service. Any elected official found to be in violation of section 2, and can not repay the citizenry  for the illegal spending increases outlines in this bill will be mandated to perform community service to pay off their debt to society at a rate of 1 hour for every dollar they owe the American public. With the massive increases of manpower derived from this penalty phase,  politicians caught lying to the American people and not making the agreed upon budget cuts,  will be mandated to do everything Barack Obama says his fake jobs bill would do:  We will rebuild all of our bridges, roadways, and schools with this new-found free labor. We will send our convicted politicians into the downtrodden slums and ghettos to clean them up, giving Barack Obama and his Democrats the “urban renewal” they so desire, and it won’t cost the taxpayers one thin dime in labor. We can also have criminal politicians save the Post Office from the government and labor-union caused bankruptcy crisis they are currently under, by having them sort and deliver mail as part of their community service. Democrats have always been the champions of imprisoned felons rights groups, so we shall also mandate that all prisoners do extensive community service as part of the new social justice programs in HR 2011, thereby supplying America with an estimated annual 500 million free man-hours of labor to rebuild America.  Felonious members of Congress will be working side by side with the convicted murderers, rapists, Occupy Wall Street vermin, welfare class, and convicted illegal drug cartel members in the ultimate form of their beloved Social Justice.

*HR-2011 is reported to have national bi-partisan support, according to several ex-members of Congress, unnamed sources, and distant friends of ex-Congressional aides, all of whom who wish to remain anonymous for personal and national security reasons.

*HR-2011 is estimated to cut our national debt by over $4 trillion dollars a year by the newly formed *Common Sense Home Budgetarians/Working Taxpayers of America Foundation.

*Yes these statements are made in humor, using fictitious group’s names to make the point of how our government uses their government-funded non-profit puppet organizations statistics and unnamed sources to claim bi-partisan support, budgetary savings etc.

More Government Home Mortgage Refinancing Schemes Coming Soon

There are currently two bills in Congress that have been proposed to supposedly “fix” the current mortgage crisis. The very same mortgage crisis that was caused by big government intervention into the mortgage business sector in the first place by the wizards of Congress.  Millions of honest, hard-working people are struggling to stay in their homes today. They now owe way more than their house is worth, thanks largely to Congress mandating the ignorant “everyone has a right to own a home”  programs which forced lenders to hand out loans to high risk /unqualified borrowers in the first place.   Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac first started gobbling up sub-prime securities due to mandates they received from Congress in 2000, and the Clinton-era Housing and Urban Development Department, ( (HUD)  which attempted to make housing “more affordable to minorities and disadvantaged people by using their vast (soon to be taxpayer- funded) resources to purchase massive amounts of sub-prime mortgage securities. In 2000, Fannie and Freddie held less than 2.5% of the mortgage market, then it expanded to hold over 40% by 2004. Today? Fannie and Freddie now guarantee more than 70% of all home loans in America. As foreclosures hit record highs almost every month during the past two years,  Fannie and Freddie are now bleeding your tax dollars at an ever-increasing rate and the government wants to once again take action to stem the foreclosure crisis. (While also covering up the fact that their meddling in the mortgage business caused this crisis to begin with)

President Obama refused to deal with the Fannie and Freddie tax-payer funded black hole with his “supposed”  Dodd-Frank Wall-Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act last year. Now the Democrats and Barack Obama are bashing the Bank of America for charging $5 a month debit card fees, which were needed to stem the bleeding caused by the Dodd-Frank bill in the first place. This is exactly why people are fed up with big government control and intervention into every aspect of our free market system today. The Dodd-Frank bill is set up to allow the U.S. Government to close all small banks in the U.S. through their fake “stress tests” and then create a central government-run banking system.  Check the proof that backs up that statement from ABC News Business Blog:

“The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) announced its 73rd bank closure this year, pacing well behind the gargantuan number of 157 total bank closures in 2010.” (emphasis mine)

When the Federal Government closes all the small independent banks in America, who in the hell do you think will control the entire banking system then? This is exactly why Newt Gingrich constantly repeats the statement that we need to repeal the Dodd-Frank bill on day one of the new GOP President’s administration in 2013.  Government control of our entire banking system is a clear and present danger to our free market system.

When we add the Federal Housing Authority to Fannie and Freddy’s percentage of all home loan mortgages we see direct government control of 90% of all U.S. mortgages! Now that the damage and wealth redistribution has been done by government intervention into the mortgage industry, we see that Fannie and Freddie are backing off of  Jumbo housing loans in an article from The Real Deal Online;

In its bid to reduce taxpayers’ $141 billion exposure to housing mortgage risk and spur private investment in the sector, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Housing Administration stopped backing jumbo housing loans. According to the Wall Street Journal, that move could put the housing market, and specifically housing prices, in a further funk.

Government meddling has the housing and mortgage industry in a shambles, so now they want to make the banks pay the price, which we see here:

The three entities ( Fannie, Freddy and the FHA) backed about 90 percent of home mortgages in recent months, thanks to the expanded loan limits. But the limits were restricted this month, meaning more buyers will have to turn to private banks to secure mortgages. Those loans are harder, and more expensive, to obtain. Banks would need to issue 56 percent more jumbo mortgages to fill the gap.

So what are the wizards of Congress to do to fix the very mess they, themselves have created in the mortgage debacle in America? Why, let’s propose two more government mortgage refinancing bills in Congress shall we? Current  House resolution 363 is titled The Housing Opportunity and Equity Act. Current Senate bill 170 is titled the Helping Responsible Homeowners Act.  Two different bills with two very different agendas, from savingtoinvest.com:

Housing Opportunity and Mortgage Equity Act (H.R. 363)  • Allows for refinancing of loans owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
• Both current and delinquent borrowers are eligible.
• Prohibits appraisal to establish current loan to value.
• Limits interest rate and fees borrower may be charged on new loan.
Helping Responsible Homeowners Act
(S. 170)
 • Allows for refinancing of loans owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
• Borrower must be current on existing mortgage.
• Removes limit on current loan to value.
• Limits interest rate and fees (including loan level price adjustments and delivery fees) borrower may be charged on new loan.

Look at HR 363 above. They want to help BOTH those who are current on mortgage payments and those who are delinquent. (what about proven ability to actually pay for the loan there?) They also want to prohibit appraisals on the homes being refinanced! Who, in their right mind would ever refinance a home loan without getting an appraisal to make sure it hasn’t been destroyed or burnt to the ground beforehand?   The Senate bill would seem to be a more responsible way  to help folks who are under water in their home loans today, but in today’s “compromising” Congress we can bet that the final bill will continue down the path towards the “everyone deserves a home whether they can actually pay for it or not” ignorant Liberal ideology. President Obama was scheduled to give another speech about what he plans to do about the mortgage crisis last week, but that didn’t happen to my knowledge.

Pay attention as Congress tries to fast-track some form of Mortgage Refinancing plan once again in the coming weeks. Just remember the fact that, while the wizards of Congress are up in DC making wonderful speeches about their “newest fix” for the mortgage crisis plans, the fact remains that they are the ones who created the crisis in the first place.   2012 just can’t get here fast enough!

Trade Agreement Bill on Fast-Track-Union Payoffs/More Debt Included

Whenever we hear that the White House has reached a "deal" with the House GOP in the passage of legislation today, warning bells and nuclear sirens start wailing immediately for those of us who have seen and understood the pattern of just how these recent "deals" have turned out bad for the American people. Today the sirens started blaring again when the following headlines came out: White House submits trade pacts after deal with House GOP, from TheHill.com. The trade agreements include Panama, South Korea and Colombia. This deal now includes gifts for Unions via the Dept. of Labor’s innocuous-sounding TAA. ( Trade Adjustment Assistance.)  These trade agreements have been sitting on Barack Obama’s desk since 2009 when the G.W. Bush administration finalized them. Why the long delay in sending them to Congress for debate and passage? If we look at the orginally linked article above, we see that just last week big labor Unions vehemently opposed these trade agreements:

"The deal sets up a bruising fight within the Democratic caucuses in the House and Senate, which are divided over trade. Most of organized labor opposes all three trade deals, which were negotiated by the Bush administration and have been dormant for years."  (emphasis mine)

Why would Unions oppose trade agreements that would help our economy and create jobs? Because they were angling for more Obama-gifts would be the only plausible answer for that question. Most business groups wanted them passed years ago. With the announcement of this "deal", Speaker Boehner  stated: “While the delay was unacceptably long and likely cost jobs, I am pleased the Obama administration has finally done its part and sent these important trade pacts to Congress,”  Now Barack Obama is  saying that he wants Congress to hurry, hurry pass  all four of these bills before before the South Korean leader visits the White House on Oct. 13th. Here we go again with the Nancy Pelosi-style" We must pass the bill to see what’s in it" routine, just like she stated during the health-care debate. These trade agreements have sat there for three years and now Obama and company want them passed 10 days from now? That means no amendments:

The House Rules Committee on Monday night approved a closed rule for the consideration of TAA that allows for an hour of debate and no amendments. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said the House intends to debate and pass the measures next week.

Why aren’t we hearing the Unions denouncing these trade agreements today? Simply because of the TAA part of all four agreements that will benefit mainly Unions. This comes to us form the Dept. of Labor’s TAA  home page

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) and Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA) help trade-affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States. Certified individuals may be eligible to receive one or more program benefits and services depending on what is needed to return them to employment.  (sounds good enough there)

First of all this TAA program is run by Obama appointee Hilda Solis‘ dept of labor–They will be saying who gets these benefits. Apparently if you do not belong to a GROUP, ( think union) don’t bother filing for any of these benefits, as we see next:

To obtain TAA or ATAA services and benefits, a group of workers must first file a petition with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Trade Adjustment Assistance (OTAA) requesting certification as workers adversely affected by foreign trade. If certified, each worker in the group may then apply separately for individual services and benefits through their local One-Stop Career Center. ( emphasis mine)

This points to as to why unions are all of a sudden happy with these trade agreements. Hilda Solis is in charge of dishing out these "benefits."  Her main agenda of 2010 was stated as to enact some 90 new rules and regulations to give more power to unions. Now Solis and her dept of labor can also hand out plenty of cash to her beloved Unions thanks to the TAA  payouts stuffed into the trade agreements. Did I mention that her father was a teamsters shop steward in Mexico? No conflict of interest there, when she was appointed to head the Dept of Labor, especially seeing that she was a board member of the pro-union American Rights at Work.

How much actual cash will our government be borrowing to hand out in the TAA provisions of these trade agreements?  That appears to be another big secret, as that information is not available at the time of this article. With Barack Obama calling for these trade agreements to be passed right away, just like with his American Jobs Act, once again the working people paying for these ‘deals" will juts have to wait until they pass the bills to actually see what’s in this latest batch soon to come out of Congress. It also looks like the House leadership is on board with this new deal. A few more interesting TAA benefits from their website:

Up to 130 weeks of cash payments for workers enrolled in full-time training Up to 156 weeks of cash payments if the worker is also enrolled in remedial or prerequisite training.

Job Search Allowances 100% of allowable costs, up to $1,500

Job Search Allowances 90% of allowable costs, up to $ 1,250

Relocation Allowances 100% of allowable costs  Provides an additional lump sum payment of up to $1,500

How many groups (Unions) of people will be covered under the new trade agreements and how much will it cost the U.S. taxpayers?

The last aspect of these trade aspects that raises some questions as to their viability in increasing our exports and helping our economy, is this tidbit:

Legislation for the U.S.-Colombia trade agreement also includes a renewal of the Andean Trade Preferences Act. That legislation, which reduced duties on products from Andean countries, was enacted in December 1991 to help Andean countries in their fight against drug production and trafficking by expanding their economic alternatives.

Expanding Andean economic alternatives and reducing duties on their products is now supposed to be good for America’s economy?  Boy is this country in big trouble.

Progressive U.S. Senate Piles on the Debt with 2012 FEMA Bill.

Pretty much everyone in the country wants to fund FEMA ( Federal Emergency Management Agency) to ensure the money is there to help the areas of America that need to recover from the numerous natural disasters of late. Hurricanes, tornadoes, and the subsequent flooding from them have left many towns ravaged and they are in need of federal dollars to help rebuild and repair. Those facts are non-debatable. What is debatable is how this help is to be paid for during the current recession, and that discussion is getting flat out ugly as partisan politics took center stage this week in the U.S Senate. Progressives, led by fake Democrat Harry Reid simply want to pile another $7 billion dollars onto the federal debt chart, while some Republicans have called for responsible cutting in spending to pay for the FEMA funding bill, instead of just borrowing more money from China and other countries. This reminds me of seeing ex-Speaker, Liberal Nancy Pelosi bragging on national TV about the Democrat’s supposed “Pay-Go” policy where they promised to pay as you go when spending the taxpayer’s dollars.

If they have been paying as they were going for the past 5 years of what amounts to Liberal rule in Congress since 2007, then explain to me just how has our national debt skyrocketed by some $7 trillion dollars since then? In an article from 2010, which does not include the massive debt of 2011 under Obama and the Liberals, we see this headline:
Debt Has Increased $5 Trillion Since Speaker Pelosi Vowed, ‘No New Deficit Spending’  To quote the San Fran Nanny Queen:

“After years of historic deficits, this 110th Congress will commit itself to a higher standard: Pay as you go, no new deficit spending,” Pelosi said in her speech from the speaker’s podium. “Our new America will provide unlimited opportunity for future generations, not burden them with mountains of debt.”

We are constantly barraged with fake Democrats spewing false rhetoric such as above, while in fact being proven to have done just the opposite. Are Americans ignorant enough to actually believe this propaganda? Apparently so, as I witnessed a recent poll that basically said some 59% of Americans now believe that our massive debt explosion was the result of Republican spending. Since Barack Obama has been running our country for almost 3 years now, with fake Democrats given complete control of Congress in the 2006 elections, and while Harry Reid still controls the U.S. Senate today, how can anyone be naive enough to think it’s the Republicans fault for all that debt? As they say in the Liberal propagandists handbook, tell a lie enough times and some people will believe it as the truth. So how is Nancy Pelosi’s lie about Pay-GO working out today the Democratically controlled U.S. Senate? While many Republicans introduced legislation to actually use the Democrat’s vaunted “Pay-Go” to find ways to pay for the FEMA funding bill, Liberal Harry Reid and some progressive RINO-Republicans voted to just put the FEMA bill on the national debt card once again! This Senate bill appears to be some kind of ploy to force the U.S. House of Representatives to go along with the progressive debt-spending of the U.S. Senate. Again, must I remind people that under the U.S Constitution, all spending bills must originate in the House? They are using this fake FEMA bill to try to bully the U.S. House of Representatives, period.  In an article from FoxNews.com, we see Senator Tom Coburn calling out the progressive hypocrites from both parties, on this proposed new debt spending for FEMA:

With the nation running a $14.7 trillion debt, Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma led the charge to fully pay for the $6.9 billion Senate bill, a fairly unprecedented move.
“We’re almost schizophrenic. We say we need to cut spending, but we say we don’t want to find $7 billion to pay for it. We just want to borrow it,” Coburn accused. And though he has, himself, voted in the past for disaster funding with no offsets, the senator said Thursday, “We’re in a new day. We’re in a new world. (emphasis mine)

FoxNews themselves are also seen right there pushing the progressive debt-spending agenda in the last sentence of that quote. Although Coburn has voted for spending without off-sets before, Fox seems to ignore the mandate of the 2010 elections where the people said they are very concerned about our massive debt-burden and voted against the progressive agenda of more debt-spending, especially during the current stagnant economy. FEMA spending bills during times of vibrant economies and federal revenue increases has absolutely nothing to do with the urgency to get spending under control of today. Has Fox forgotten that our credit rating has been downgraded under the weight on Obama’s progressive spending for the first time in history this year already? Shame on you Fox, that is not fair and balanced reporting there.

Further proof that this debt-laden FEMA Senate bill is a propaganda effort with political motivation at it’s roots is also supplied in the above linked FoxNews article, where Obama-puppet, DHS Chief, Janet Napolitano deemed it necessary to weigh in on the Democrat’s attempt at politicizing the Senate FEMA bill:

At an Aspen Institute event in Washington today, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, in a somewhat rare, impassioned tone, underscored the urgency of the situation.
“The fight we’re in now is to get money for the disaster relief fund. We do not have enough money, given the number of disasters we’ve had this year, to finish the fiscal year, and to do all the things we have to do,” the secretary strongly warned.

We have DHS-ATF employees selling guns to drug cartels, southern border states screaming for help to protect their citizens from the criminal illegal immigrant invasion from Mexico, and this clown deems herself an authority over Congressional legislation and tries to tell them what they should or shouldn’t do? This is just further proof that the Obama administration is trying to manipulate our Congress through media propaganda once again. Need I remind Ms. Napolitano that she is an appointee of Barack Obama, and was not elected by we the people here?  She needs to keep that attempt at propagandizing Congressional leglislation to herself, and stay out of our Congress’ business. With her current ignoring of Federal Immigration laws to the detriment of our society, Ms Napolitano belongs in prison, not on national TV lecturing the American people on what is right or wrong for this country!

Senator Rand Paul tried to cut back on U.S. foreign aid spending as a way to pay for the Senate FEMA funding bill, but Harry Reid was joined by several progressive Republicans to deny that common-sense approach to actually “Pay as you go” as the Democrats like to say. “We cannot send welfare to other countries that we don’t have,” Paul pleaded, noting that bridges need to be rebuilt in his own home state before money goes to build them in other countries. Harry Reid is caught red-handed politicizing this Fema bill proposal, as I stated earlier:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., stripped the 2012 funding from a larger annual spending bill to move it in a standalone measure, an unusual move that Republicans say was designed to score political points

Senator John Cornyn also brings up some valid points during this heated debate on the Senate political-football of the Fema debt-spending proposal, instead of actually paying for the 7 billion in spending in the bill:

“Obviously the disaster funding is important. I support funding FEMA. What’s frustrating, though, is this is gamesmanship on the part of Senator Reid,” accused Sen. John Cornyn, R-Tex, whose own state has been ravaged by wildfires. “He knows, and we all know, that in the Continuing Resolution that will pass the House next week that there are appropriations for disaster funding that do not increase the deficit

Cornyn also said that next year the FEMA spending bill should go through the actual regular appropriations process. Does he mean that next year Congress will actually produce a budget for the first time in 3 years there? I,ll believe that when I see it.

Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) unintentionally let the truth come out when he said:
“I’m for paying for it if we can find a way to pay for it,” Blunt told Fox, “But if you want to take any line in the upcoming budget, since it’s going to require borrowing money, and say ‘none of it’s paid for’ in any line, because we don’t get to a balanced budget under anybody’s current plan in the next decade – I don’t think that’s much of an argument.” (emphasis mine)

This bill is said to be to fund FEMA for next year. Sen. Blunt states that it will require borrowing money to pay for it. NEXT YEAR. Our country is now so broke that we can not even find a way to pay for $7 billion in FEMA funding for next year. In looking at the total summary of this 2012 FEMA funding bill outlined here, and seeing the fact that progressives from both parties, led by the nose by Barack Obama and Harry Reid are saying that this bill will be put onto the already debt-laden backs of the working class and their children through more debt-spending should be quite informative, even to the most naive of citizens. Then again, we have some 59% of this country that want to put this nasty debt-spending responsibility onto the shoulders of the conservatives in our Congress. The facts simply do not line up with that often-stated ignorance there. Vote grassroots conservative in 2012 and we just might have a chance to pull out of this fiscal nightmare.

Speaker Boehner to Obama: Not So Fast, Mr. President

Shortly after President Obama’s stimulus, err jobs speech where the President demanded many, many times that his “jobs bill” ( which no one has seen in writing) be passed right away, right now, hurry, hurry, he received a letter from Speaker Boehner and several top Republicans. The gist of this letter?   Not so fast Mr. President!

Speaker Boehner points out that he would like to a actually see the bill, in writing, and that it be scored by the CBO before they can even consider passing it. Can you believe the arrogance of these Republicans? They actually want to read the bill before hurry, hurry, passing it! Ex-Speaker, Liberal Nancy Pelosi must be rolling around in her grave upon hearing of this craziness. What’s that you say ? The ex-speaker is still in Congress? Oh yes, that WAS her leading the childish clapping of the Democrats every 30 seconds during Obama’s bully-pulpit rant for another expensive stimulus package disguised as ….well, whatever it was supposed to be. Only in a liberal mind could extending unemployment benefits be considered job creation. Yes Nancy, Republicans actually want to read the bills before passing them. What a novel idea!

The Speaker’s letter also contains another bit of revelation intended to help  President Obama to discover the American way of passing legislation. The letter informs the President that Republicans will also reserve the right to make changes as they see fit to Obama’s latest stimulus scam attempt disguised as a jobs bill. Maybe Congress isn’t totally irrelevant after all folks. I was so pleased upon  discovering Speaker Boehner’s letter that informs Barack Obama that they will be following protocol in the U.S. House of Representatives and NOT ramming another stimulus bill through Congress without carefully weighing the complete make-up of the bill, that I felt like throwing a party! This could lead us to a new National Day of Recognition, maybe even a new Holiday to celebrate the novel idea of reading the bills in Congress before passing them. Thank you Speaker Boehner, from all Americans believing in the U.S. Constitution and the separation of powers in the three branches of our government. Those separations of power are our checks and balances that keep us from being ruled by a dictator like another Hussein, as in Sadaam. No, Mr. President, just because you get up on the teleprompter bully-pulpit on national TV and demand your stimulus ( posing as jobs) bill be passed right away without careful consideration as to exactly what is in it, and how it will be paid for, doesn’t make it law.  America is not a dictatorship, we are a Republic. One would think the great law scholar Barack Obama would have been aware of this before he even tried to ramrod any spending bill past the House of Representatives. Maybe then Barack Obama wouldn’t have looked like such a fool while repeating that Congress must pass this bill right away some seventeen times during his speech, to which Speaker Boehner simply replied: ” Not so fast Mr. President.”

Patriot Act Extension Passed in House

The lovely couple on the left, (pun intended) are the Rosenbergs. The picture was taken in 1953, shortly before they were executed in Sing Sing prison for selling atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. The Rosenbergs were also proud members of The  U.S Communist Party. Oh, the good old days when Anti-American Communists spewing Socialist propaganda were dealt with swiftly and decisively. As we discuss The Patriot Act extension passing the house yesterday, we must fondly remember the Rosenbergs and how they exemplified the Communist Party USA and the dangers posed in letting them go unchecked in America today. For those of you too young, or too indoctrinated by the American education system today, that think it is cool to wear Che and Mao t-shirts, keep this couple in mind. To be a Communist means to hate America and all she stands for, plain and simple. With the current crop of  widespread young Communist wanna-bes in America today, the Patriot Act could prove vital to America’s future and reengaging in the necessary  fight against Communism.

After failing to obtain the necessary 2/3s vote for passage about a week ago, the house managed to pass a Patriot Act exten-sion through Dec. 8, as it was set to expire on Feb 28th. Now it has to get through the U.S Senate next, and time is getting short. President Obama wanted the extension through 2013, but due to opposition from the Teaparty, Libertarians and some Conservatives, they had to settle for a temporary extension for now. This vote passed by a vote of 275 to 144, with 27 Republicans joining 117 Democrats in voting against the extension. The controversy stems mainly from 3 provisions that include what may consider an invasion privacy issue. One provision lets the government snoop at will on a wide group of documents, including such things as library records. The “roving wiretap” provision may face the stiffest test of constitutionality in the courts eventually, as it allows the government to pretty much listen in on any phone call they desire without prior court approval. The last provision allows surveillance of any foreigners, even if there is no proven connections to terrorist groups.

With these temporary extensions of the Patriot Act set to now expire in Dec. of this year, ( if passed by the Senate) this could be a heavy issue towards the 2012 elections. I personally would support a permanent Patriot Act with full powers to fight terrorism, if it included fighting Communism in America today. Our youth today are being duped into believing lies about the Non-existent Utopian Socialism that is in reality is the pathway to Communism and oppressive dictatorships. So when your child puts on his Mao shirt before school one day, you parents might want to remind them that Mao was a brutal Dictator who murdered about 80 million of his own people while claiming to be their friend and champion. I hope to see a real intense conversation about the future of the Patriot Act in coming months, and that must include the necessity of using it to root out the Communist Anti-Americans amongst us, whether they hide behind fake Social Justice claims, or Soros financed  Socialist Organizations such as Think Progress, Media Matters, Center for American progress, etc. Take a good look at the pictures of the cutely named One Nation Rally, if you don’t think the aforementioned groups, along with Union organizers, aren’t de-facto Anti-American Communists. To make my point I shall put up one picture from that rally, thanks to John Romano at Yes, But, However.*

I support the full use of the Patriot Act to stop the Anti-American Communist propaganda in America, like we see above at  the One Nation Rally. It is corrupting our youth and poses a clear threat to our future.
