Only Obama Staffers Believe IRS ‘Lost’ Email

IRS-emails4-copyIf you’ve been skeptical about the IRS’ explanation that Lois Lerner’s email disappeared during a World of Warcraft online game that got out of control, I have good news. Particularly since you’ve also probably been a little reluctant to express that thought. No one wants to be called a racist in the latte line at Starbucks while you–know–who is in the White House.

But you are not alone. Barbara Boland of CNS News reports that an overwhelming 76 percent of the American public does not believe the email was “lost” and rumors have it Jay Carney’s support is slipping, too. This means IRS deniers aren’t bigots after all! Since only 63 percent of the total US population is white, that means 13 percent of the minority population is included among the hard drive crash skeptics. Even the trends are looking bad for Barack ‘What? Me Worry?’ Obama. In April only 7 percent of the public believed that Congress should continue investigating “until someone is held accountable.” Now that figure is at 74 percent.

Disbelief was so pervasive among poll respondents that only people who swallowed the IRS story were over 65–years–old and still using a rotary phone.

Even 63 percent of Democrats believe the potentially incriminating messages were “deliberately destroyed,” but of course they have not received any contributions from IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. Boland — who has been all over this part of the story, too — found that Koskinen gave a $5,000.00 donation to re–elect Obama in 2012 and a total of $19,000 to the Democratic National Committee from 1988 to 2008. He’s also contributed to every Democratic presidential nominee since 1980. And he even gave $3,800.00 to Hillary ‘What difference does it make’ Clinton.

I won’t bore you with pointing out that a Republican in similar circumstances would be asked to recuse himself from anything concerned with the investigation. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D–MD) was so honored by the IRS commissioner’s appearance before the House committee investigating the IRS scandal that he almost pre–paid his taxes right there. Sounding like the master of ceremonies at a Kim Jong–un birthday party, Cummings gushed, “I want to thank you for being who you are. I want to thank you for giving a damn and caring about our country.”

What Koskinen is, is an arrogant, long–time laborer in the Democrat vineyard who is offended that Republicans won’t take his word for it that email on Lois Lerner and six of her henchmen’s computers suddenly came down with a bad case of digital flu that wiped out the messages. The fact that this is exactly what your ex–wife says about your email requesting a week’s grace period on the child support check is just a coincidence. It’s simply chance that time period involved in the elusive email is the exact same time period the House has subpoenaed.

Just because grandma has her data backed up on the cloud — she calls it “heaven” just for laughs — doesn’t mean a giant organization like the IRS with an annual budget of $11.2 billion has to follow even an elementary data preservation protocol.

Although the Senate appears content to sleep through this data disaster, there could be repercussions among the public. Losing information certainly does nothing to create confidence in the IRS E–File program that uses the Internet to file tax returns and make payments.

What if tax collections fall a bit short and the commissioner decides to double dip and tell you there is no record of your payment? It makes me suspicious that maybe the reason for IRS audits is not because the bureau thinks you are cheating on your taxes, it’s because they lost your tax information and are hoping you kept the records. Any revenue the auditor can gouge out during the process is a bonus.

Of course if the situation were reversed, what are the chances the IRS would accept an explanation like this from a taxpayer? You know the answer is less than zero. Lack of data would be just the same as pleading guilty, with fines and imprisonment to follow.

For that matter Koskinen’s excuse is even worse than the “I only had two beers, officer” that the drunk always gives during a DUI stop right before he participates in a field sobriety test.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R–SC) is a former prosecutor and he has had it with Koskinen’s arrogance. Last Monday he lit into the commissioner’s glib assurances that the IRS was a paragon of probity.

“You have already said multiple times today that there was no evidence that you found of any criminal wrongdoing,” Gowdy remarked. “I want you to tell me what criminal statutes you’ve evaluated.”

“I have not looked at any,” Koskinen replied.

“Well then how can you possibly tell our fellow citizens that there’s not criminal wrongdoing if you don’t even know what statutes to look at?” Gowdy shot back.

No doubt Koskinen is surprised at Gowdy’s lack of confidence in his assurances. The mainstream media treats him like the Oracle at Delphi, but this backwoods hick with the aggressive hair is attacking him in public!

Meanwhile back at the White House, it’s interesting how Obama continues to deploy the Will Roger’s Defense — All I know is what I read in the newspapers — with a straight face every time his administration demonstrates its incompetence. Why didn’t George Bush think of that during Katrina, the US Attorney firings or Iraq?

Still, I do wonder what Obama does during his daily briefings. Surely he must get tired of playing computer solitaire occasionally and look up to ask a question. During the 30 months and counting remaining of his second term, I hope no low level minion ever forgets to pay the New York Times subscription.

Otherwise Obama will have to rely on his golfing buddies to keep him abreast of current events.

Obama playbook – when in doubt say it is all phony scandals

phonyscandals

As the old saying goes, “the truth will out,” and in the case of the multiple scandals that have been dogging the Obama Administration practically from the beginning, it appears those sage words are starting to blow up in the talking heads’ faces. Those voices include individuals in the media that have chosen to be little more than Obama’s private collection of sycophants, and of course, the members of the administration that have been tap-dancing furiously around the facts in front of Congress and the public. The latest issue has been the outrageous claim by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, that all the current “problems,” particularly Benghazi, are “phony scandals.” Of course that was met with severe push-back by conservative politicians and media, expressing severe disapproval of even the concept of relegating the deaths of four American embassy personnel to the realm of “phony” anything.

It is coming up on 11 months since the attack in Libya, and the hearings are still being convened to get to the bottom of the issue. There is still one survivor of the attack in the hospital, recovering from his injuries. The rumors about the administration forcing survivors in general to remain silent about what they witnessed that night have been running around the Hill and the nation for weeks. Because the truth has been denied, the inevitable result is that the truth is sneaking its way out. As for the Obama Administration, it can’t be pleasing to them that it has come from none other than CNN – which Fox News had no problem pointing out. As for the ones that remain loyal to the president, and keep pushing his propaganda? Well, look no further than Variety to see the fate for that tactic – even the experts in the entertainment industry are admitting that being the mouthpiece for the administration isn’t a good formula for a news station that would like to have even just decent ratings.

So, all this means is that it makes sense to keep pushing for the truth. If you’re looking for a quick way to point out to the masses that the scandals really aren’t phony – and at least enumerate them quickly with pretty pictures for those that are a bit dense – there’s a short video for that:

White House states that suspending aid to Egypt ‘not in best interests’

Moravsky Vrabec (CC)

Moravsky Vrabec (CC)

The White House stated today that aid to Egypt will continue, and that suspending it at this point is not in the best interests of the U.S. This comes as some pressure had been building over the legality of continued financial support of the embattled nation. Those that were opposed to continued support were arguing that monies had been authorized to support a democratically elected government, not a military regime that had removed elected officials.

Fox News reports:

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, saying repeatedly that the situation is “complex,” made clear that the administration plans to slow-walk any final decision on U.S. aid. The underlying issue is whether the U.S. government considers the toppling of Morsi to be a military coup — under U.S. law, the government is required to suspend aid in the event of such an overthrow.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., reiterated his belief on Monday that the overthrow was clearly a coup, and the consequences under U.S. law are unavoidable.

“I do not want to suspend our critical assistance to Egypt, but I believe that is the right thing to do at this time,” McCain said.

Carney, though, would not describe the ouster as a coup. He said the administration would “take the time necessary” to evaluate that question — but in the near-term, cutting off aid would not behoove the United States.

“I think it would not be in the best interest of the United States to immediately change our assistance programs,” Carney said.

The Obama Administration has been under fire for its handling of foreign policy with Egypt, Libya, and Syria, primarily over inaction, and this is yet another situation where it is choosing not to act. The continued support in Egypt should raise questions in the coming days and weeks, not the least of which being who is actually in charge in that nation, how the aid is being used, and whether or not military resources supplied by the U.S. are being used against civilians on the ground.

The timing of this statement is not reassuring, since it comes in the wake of a military action in Egypt that resulted in the deaths of at least 51 persons. The attack was in retaliation for the death of a member of the military, presumably killed by a protester involved with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Jay Carney: Obama ‘does not and cannot’ take position on Gosnell

jay_carney_house_of_horrors

Very interesting. Obama cannot take a position on the House of Horrors abortionist, but he has no problem inserting himself into other cases that are ongoing, such as the Trayvon Martin case.  The House of Horrors case does not fit his agenda, so he wants to be silent on the issue. Jay Carney simply calls the matter “unsettling”. Unsettling? That’s all you can conjure, Mr. Carney? Seriously? Yes, I understand, Mr. Carney. Mr. Obama is very clear where he stands on a woman’s “choice”.

Shorter Jay Carney: Obama’s Not King, You Know

king

White Hkingouse Press Secretary Jay Carney spoke about the much delayed budget President Obama will finally unveil next week.

“What I will say is that this is not the president’s idealized budget,” said Carney,  “It is not what he would do if he were king, or if only people who supported his proposals were in Congress.

Have we ever had a president who more wished to be king instead of having to deal with those pesky other equal but separate, branches of government?

Gosh darn those Founding Fathers.

Jake Tapper Moves from ABC Reporter to CNN Anchor

Jake_Tapper_at_the_White_House

NYT: CNN on Thursday said it had hired Jake Tapper, the senior White House correspondent for ABC News, amid talk of new programming for the cable news channel.

Mr. Tapper, widely seen as one of the most aggressive reporters in the nation’s capital, will anchor an afternoon program for the channel and will be its chief Washington correspondent. The new program will start sometime next year.

Just this week Jake Tapper pressed both the president and the press secretary for clear answers to recent issues. One can only hope this style of hard hitting journalism is a signal of improvement for the flailing news channel.

December 19: Jake Tapper blasted Barack Obama today at his press conference announcing a new gun control committee. Tapper pointed out that this wasn’t the first mass slaughter under his watch, “Where’ve you been?” Watch a clearly irritated president respond.

December 20: Carney dodges on accountability for Benghazi.

From the Hollywood Reporter: Tapper has been ABC’s chief White House correspondent since the 2008 election and was assigned to the Obama campaign during the 2012 presidential election. He also this year published his third book; The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.

ABC News president Ben Sherwood broke the news of Tapper’s departure Thursday in an email to staffers announcing the promotion of Jonathan Karl as ABC’s new chief White House correspondent.

“For years, Jake has set the pace for the White House press corps,” wrote Sherwood. “A ferocious reporter – and now a best-selling author – he has built a reputation as one of the most prolific and multi-talented journalists on the beat, scoring scoop after scoop.”

The YouTube video & Susan Rice; UN Blasphemy Laws fit the “Narrative”

Maybe I should start this off with “Warning: what you about to read could be dangerous to your health, side effects outrage, hypertension, and tequilla shots “needed” have been reported by 99% of readers to this post.” So you have been “warned”.

Anyone remotely following the Benghazi attacks and murder of four Americans, all remember the whole YouTube video “excuse” and the fallout from said “excuse”.   We were told by Jay Carney, Press Secretary, and President Obama on September 12th, that this was a “spontaneous” protest (over the YouTube video) that erupted into a deadly attack.   We heard “official” condemnations of this disgusting video. We all saw the Cerritos, Calfornia “movie maker” hauled away at 1:30am for interrogations.   We heard Susan Rice on September 16th, as she made the rounds to the “Sunday” shows, citing the video. And we heard all of them–Obama, Clinton, Carney and Rice state “there was no intelligence that could have prevented such an attack” and that this was “no act of terror”.   So much for story time.

We now know, the following, from an official Congressional hearing held today, October 10, 2012 that,  in the last 13 months there has been 230 attacks in and around Benghazi.   One on June 6, 2012, was an IED that blasted a hole in the Benghazi consulate wall that “40 men could walk through.”   Around this time our officials on the ground begin to “sound the alarm” back to the State Department. Eric Nordstrom, who is the former security officer in Tripoli, asked twice for more security to be sent.   Charlene Lamb, a State Department official’s response was they “wanted to keep the number of U.S. security personnel in Benghazi “artificially low.”

On September 18th, CNN went to Benghazi, and found Ambassador Steven’s diary, which entries state he felt “threatened and unsafe”.   The facts, the “real” facts started to come out and the “fairy tale” we were told began to unravel. There were NO protests in Benghazi.   In the diary, Stevens relates to being outside at 8:30pm saying goodbye to a Turkish official, the street was quiet, yet a hour later at 9:40pm, Steven’s would be in a fight for his life.   A fight that included being sodomized and tortured.

September 21st, Hillary Clinton finally says “its a terror attack”, although on the same day the 21st, Obama is still on story line #1, its a mob act of protest turned into murder.   September 26th, the YouTube movie maker is hauled away, for check fraud, and I have “intell” from the Sheriff’s Department’s substation in Cerritos, California, about this arrest.   The “word” came from the FBI, that they wanted an “arrest” made of this man, who was “highly dangerous” and that SWAT was needed.   Insider from the LA County Sheriff’s Department, who requested to remain “anonymous” said he took part in the raid, and that the Captain and higher ups were not impressed with arresting this man for “check fraud” and then having to hand him over to the FBI.   “Something just didn’t smell right” he said, “this man had a shady background in check fraud but to arrest him on the fraud charges when we all knew it was due to his involvement in this YouTube video, well, something seemed wrong“.     He went on “Then the FBI “rambo” in, say he is “highly dangerous”, I mean c’mon, the guy pissed his pants when he saw SWAT and a small army outside his house”.

So they had their “Patsy“.   Except, that didn’t fly. On October 2, Nordstrom comes forward, and it all falls apart.   The questions not answered are these, “why the YouTube video excuse?” Who decided that would be the “story” and what did they have to gain from this story?   Why did they, as Susan Lamb says, want to keep the “numbers artificially low” and what does “artificially mean?”

Many wondered “why did they send out Rice?”   I think my friend, and notable blogger Lisa Graas may have the answer.   From her September 17th post :

In December, 2011, Ambassador Rice signed on with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to adopt a U.N. Resolution on “religious intolerance” that had been receiving dwindling support in previous attempts to pass it.   It is the intention of this administration to side with the Muslim world that “blasphemy” against Islam should be actively discouraged by our government even to the point of considering American citizens who exercise freedom of speech as criminals.

We know, the State Department is not behind the “YouTube video” story, so that leaves the Obama Administration, someone in that brain trust, Valerie Jarrett, Susan Rice, David Axelrod— someone decided to “go with this”,  never leaving a good crisis to waste!    And, this plays perfectly into Rice’s actions back in December 2011, to in essence create a “blasphemy” law, that YouTube story really plays quite nicely into the whole “fiction” we have been told!   Bravo Obama et al, but, you had me at “YouTube”, and I wasn’t buying that, no three year old would buy that line.

Let me be clear.   This is no Watergate.   This is murder.   This is an Institutional “cover-up” with accessory to murder.   I wonder, I wonder what Ambassador Steven’s thoughts were while he was being dragged out to be sodomized and tortured?   I highly doubt, as Democratic Congressmen have insinuated during the hearing, that he was excited about the “Revolution” and the “Arab Spring“.

And that brings me to Mr. Jay Carney. Today he stated

“its just a fact, that the President has fought for, and put forward funding for our diplomatic personnel and Embassy’s around the world, and “others” have had their budget priorities, to reduce that funding by way of tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires…that’s just a fact.”

Really Carney?   Did you really say that malarkey?   You, who say Romney was “politicizing” the Benghazi attacks?   Carney you Sir, are a liar, plain and simple, and by the way, you are not a very good one.   There are four dead Americans, and we deserve so much more,  they deserve so much more than this travesty of bumblers and liars.   This was murder.   And the FBI spent a whole 3 hours on the ground in Benghazi, a whole 3 hours of “investigating” just last week, as Obama’s commitment to “finding the perpetrators and bringing them to justice“.

I think we have a good idea of who is ultimately responsible for these murders of our American Ambassador and Navy Seals, and you don’t need to go to Benghazi to find them.

Obama and Benghazi-Gate

Secretary of Defense (CC)

It’s been 17 days since the attack on the Consulate at Benghazi, and Obama still hasn’t said publicly that it was a terrorist attack. He’s left that to his surrogates, including Press Secretary Jay Carney, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The bizarre situation that we’re left with is a dead-asleep press that is largely ignoring the entire situation, with few exceptions. While CNN has managed to get far more information on the ground in Libya than even our FBI has (since they have yet to make it to the scene, as of reports on the evening of September 27th), they are not really saying much of anything beyond the canned responses that have apparently been approved by the administration. And when CNN was reporting slightly on the contents of a journal owned by Ambassador Chris Stevens, the response from the administration was that it should have been given to the family without any reports on its contents hitting the airwaves. Everyone in the U.S. should have seen enough crime dramas over the years to know that is an extremely bizarre statement, presuming that the government ever had any intention of investigating the attack in the first place. Any normal person would think that knowing what Stevens was writing in the days before the attack might be relevant to the investigation, right?

Secretary of Defense (CC)

And now we’re down to trying to figure out who knew what, and when. For now, it’s become clear that the administration knew from day one that this was a terrorist attack. It had nothing to do with the video that slandered Islam. In the coming months, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that none of the attacks on Western embassies in the Middle East and North Africa had anything to do with that film. But, beyond all of that, the fact that the administration has admitted fairly quickly that they knew from the beginning the true nature of the attack in Benghazi is unsettling. It was not a situation where the press was exerting any great pressure on them about the situation – they were taking the story they were being spoon fed with the noted exceptions of FoxNews, and a few foreign press agencies. While I’m not generally a conspiracy theorist, this definitely causes me to think there’s something more to this whole story.

While the administration has been very quick to point out what a great man Ambassador Stevens was – that’s to be expected – the fact that he was assigned to Libya is a little puzzling. It’s become clear over the past couple weeks that Libya was far less stable than the administration was leading people to believe – and they knew it. Stevens specialized in the Middle East and North Africa, and admittedly, there were other far more stable outposts in the region where he could have been assigned. I suggest this right now because of one glaring fact – Stevens was openly gay. Given the level of hatred and intolerance seen exerted against gays in Islamist nations, the last place any responsible member of the administration should want to place an openly gay diplomat is one where there is even a hint of radical Islamic activity. Either the administration is entirely incompetent, or someone really didn’t care about the safety of Stevens at all when choosing his assignment. Of course, these are issues that may or may not have been addressed in that journal the administration didn’t want CNN reporting about – and apparently didn’t want to read themselves.

There is no proof apparent of what I’ve suggested above. It is merely an observation, based on the few facts available right now – call it an exercise in basic logic. And perhaps it is a suggestion to the few people out there that are really interested in finding out the truth about this attack. Beyond searching for information on the radicals in Libya, another priority should be investigating what was really going on in the administration before the attack. Did Stevens have any enemies in the administration? Were there any under-the-table deals going on between the administration and Islamist organizations on the ground in Libya? Is there really a credible connection to al-Qaeda, or is it merely a matter of a single man with previous associations with that organization having a hand in the planning? And, like any other questionable situation in the Federal Government, how high does it really go? That last one is very important, primarily because Obama detractors have a horrible habit of giving him far too much credit when it comes to just about everything. Bluntly, he’s too much of an amateur in foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, to personally manage being puppetmaster on something like this. The Islam apologist policies he follows are really his undoing in the region – radical Muslims respect him less than the right-wing in the U.S. does because of it. The bottom line is that we are nowhere near the end of this one, if there is even one person determined to stay the course, and figure out exactly what happened. And it will be interesting to see what the truth really is.

Biden, Clinton Lunches Dismissed as ‘Routine’

With reports swirling around Washington that president Obama might put Secretary of State Clinton on the Democratic ticket in November instead of Joe Biden, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney dismissed those reports, and addressed the lunch meetings as ‘routine’. White House: Talk About Anything But Our Record

Timothy_Geithner_10

Ever since the 2009 GM bailout by “progressive” big government ended the pensions of 20,000 retirees at Delphi auto parts manufacturing, the White House and the Department of Treasury have laid the blame on the steps of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Internal government emails have been obtained that show the U.S. Treasury Department, run by Timothy Geithner, was behind those termininations.  All 20,000 of the pensions seem to have been ended strictly for the reason that those retirees did not belong to labor unions.

http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/07/emails-geithner-treasury-drove-cutoff-of-non-union-delphi-workers-pensions/

Perhaps the National Labor Relations Board was too busy preparing to harass another private sector company planning to hire non-union workers to get involved.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Eric Holder has yet to file any criminal charges against top Wall Street bankers with connections inside the Department of Justice or who had made political donations to the 2008 presidential campaign of the current White House occupant.

Over the years, both the Oval Office and Holder have talked tough, aggressively attacking big fat cat bankers, blaming their reckless speculation for the 2008 financial collapse.  The Government Accountability Institute has found that Holder still has not “filed a single criminal charge against any top executive of an elite financial institution.”

http://dailycaller.com/2012/08/07/report-cronyism-political-donations-likely-behind-obama-holder-failure-to-charge-any-bankers-after-2008-financial-meltdown/

All talk no action.  Sound tough for the union organized OWS crowd, but do nothing to upset potential campaign donors.  The heck with credibility, the “progressive” Party Pravda will run interference for the re-election campaign.

Overseas, Iran has vowed it will not allow Assad to fall in Syria.

“Iran will never allow the resistance axis – of which Syria is an essential pillar – to break,” said Saeed Jalili, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary.  The “axis of resistance” includes Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas, all of which are anti-Western and openly hostile towards Israel and the United States.

Assad reassured Jalili by saying: “The Syrian people and their government are determined to purge the country of terrorists and to fight the terrorists without respite.”

If Assad is overthrown, Iran will lose influence over Syria and a crucial link to Hezbollah.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/9459321/Syria-Iran-vows-it-will-not-allow-Assad-to-fall.html

Could it be that Muslim Brotherhood influence over the White House has surreptitiously led to policies that support the creation of a regional Caliphate?  What other way is there to logically explain policies that support rebellions to overthrow some Middle Eastern dictators, but not support rebellions hostile to the Iranian regime or its allies?

With so much baggage for the White House to carry through the campaign, their “Priorities” are to have their “progressive” allies run misleading ads that attempt to tie Mitt Romney to death.

Priorities USA Action, a super PAC supporting the Oval Office is running a new ad that blames Mitt Romney for a family losing health insurance which contributed to a woman dying from cancer.

It apparently makes no difference to the “progressive” super PAC that Romney left Bain Capital years before the GST Steel bankruptcy in 2001.  In addition, the cancer casualty Ranae Soptic died in 2006, long after the GST plant had been closed.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/priorities-ad-ties-mitt-romney-to-cancer-death/2012/08/07/d723d8c0-e084-11e1-8fc5-a7dcf1fc161d_blog.html

In another move to distract attention away from the dismal economic performance of the White House, the Oval Office occupier was overheard whispering to a top fundraiser that GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney wants to name Gen. David Petraeus as his choice for Vice President.

http://drudgereport.com/flashgp.htm

The White House was more than happy to clutter the news cycle by dismissing the Drudge Report.  Anything to keep the pathetic economic record of the White House out of the headlines will suffice.

Press Secretary Jay Carney reminded reporters to “be mindful of your sources” when asked about the Petraeus rumor.  “I can say with absolute confidence, such an assertion has never been uttered by the president.  And again be mindful of your sources” said Carney.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/white-house-disses-drudge-report-be-mindful-of-your-sources/article/2504233

And so it goes for the most open, transparent White House in American history.  They are more than happy to talk about anything but their own record.

The Capital of Israel Is…

IsraelMap

I’ll take Capitals for $500, Alex.

The capitol of France: Paris. The capital of Russia: Moscow. Of Belarus… oh, that’s a tougher one. But it’s Minsk. Everyone knows and everyone agrees. The country gets to pick its capital.

I can’t choose another city to be the capital of Germany, even though they were a divided country for years. It is still the decision of the citizens of the country.

But what about Israel? The Jewish people have chosen Jerusalem as their capital. But the Palestinians (a terrorist group without a state) argue that Jerusalem is theirs. The United Nations, in its naive desire for smooth sailing, would like to see Jerusalem become an international city. But in 2008 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that “Jerusalem belongs to the Jewish people and will remain under Israeli sovereignty for eternity.”

Candidate Obama, in 2008, seemed to be in agreement with Netanyahu:

But President Obama, wanting to be friends with all, choose to sit on the sidelines. In 2011, the administration was caught scrubbing all references of Jerusalem being part of Israel from its website.

It’s now 2012 and again Candidate Obama might have to answer this question. As he ponders it he should probably talk to Press Secretary Jay Carney, who did not appear comfortable being put on the spot. White House spokesman Jay Carney refused to directly say which city is the capital of Israel during a press briefing Thursday, saying only “our position has not changed.”

The election is just 100 days away. People who believe in the right of Israel to have and keep their capital should remember that this administration is not necessarily on their side. This election will be important for the USA but also for the country of the only democratic ally in the Mid East, Israel.

White House Rebuffs Calls for a Special Prosecutor

Despite calls from Senators John Cornyn, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, the Justice Department continues to resist calls for appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate national security leaks said to be coming from inside the White House. The Senators view Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to appoint two Justice Department legal insiders to the investigation as insufficient.

The White House remains in support of Holder. The official word from press secretary Jay Carney is that “there is no need for a special counsel. These things have consistently been investigated when that’s appropriate”.

Holder’s troubles are not isolated to the national security leaks investigation. Holder is also under legal attack for the failed Fast and Furious firearms fiasco. Despite Holder’s possibly facing contempt of Congress charges next week, Carney relayed the “absolute confidence” the White House still has in Holder.

This “no special prosecutor” position stands in stark contrast to the position held by then Senators obama and Biden when it came to investigating the Iraq war policy. Or when it came to calling for the firing of U.S. attorneys. Or reviewing conditions at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. And especially when it came to discovering who leaked Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson’s identities. All of which took place during George W. Bush’s presidency.

Not to mention special prosecutor Archibald Cox, who was appointed to investigate the Watergate scandal.

It would seem that, as usual, when the left commits perceived offenses, it’s perfectly appropriate for them to police themselves. But when there are similar perceptions of offenses committed by those on the right, that’s a completely different story.

Holder’s stonewalling of the Fast and Furious congressional investigation is not only straight out of the Richard M. Nixon play book, it is more egregious. Although ultimately the ongoing investigation resulted in the removal of a sitting President from office for his role in the Watergate burglary and ensuing cover-up, nobody died due to decisions made or actions taken by Nixon and his lieutenants.

It is alleged that by allowing hundreds of highly sophisticated automatic weapons to walk across the U.S./Mexican border and into the hands of criminal drug cartels, the Holder led Department of Justice contributed to the death of hundreds of Mexican civilians and murder of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry. This is an extremely serious charge. The truth must be uncovered. If this allegation is true, Eric Holder should go to prison, instead of being allowed to harass multiple state governments with frivolous, racist lawsuits. To hold to the notion that Eric Holder is capable of dispassionate logic in pursuit of fact in the face of such a clear conflict of interest is incongruous.

That the White House is standing behind Holder in stone walling the cover up of information is not surprising. When are the college records, medical records, travel records, etc of the current White House occupant going to be brought to light?

Will obama and Holder agree to appoint a special prosecutor? If they do and the going gets dicey, is the United States going to be submitted to a replay of the Archibald Cox firing drama? Will there be the Saturday Night Massacre, part two?

It would not be in the least bit surprising to see the White House let this drag out through the summer as a means of distracting from their own dismal record. It would also be true to form to see Holder go the way of many of obama’s once political allies. The moment Holder’s presence becomes too much of a political liability to the full time, win at all costs candidate he will become persona non grata faster than you can say: “Our long national nightmare is over”.

The other thing that was wrong with Jay Carney’s comment

Both quotes used come from the Virginia Ratifying Convention:

“The extent of the United States cannot render this government oppressive.  The powers of the general government are only of a general nature, and their object is to protect, defend, and strengthen the United States; but the internal administration of government is left to the state legislatures, who exclusively retain such powers as will give the states the advantages of small republics, without the danger commonly attendant on the weakness of such governments.”

Francis Corbin

“The powers of the general government relate to external objects, and are but few.  But the powers in the states relate to those great objects which immediately concern the prosperity of the people.  Let us observe, also, that the powers in the general government are those which will be exercised mostly in time of war, while those of the state governments will be exercised in time of peace.”

James Madison
