A major argument against gun buybacks has been that they are too expensive. Arizona may have solved that problem in a most controversial way.

The Arizona state Senate voted to prohibit the destruction of firearms gathered by cities and counties. Instead, municipalities will be required to sell the firearms to recoup buyback costs.

The only thing that could prevent the bill from becoming law is gun rights proponent Governor Jan Brewer. While no comment has come from the Governor’s office, a veto is unlikely.

Democrats are feverishly attempting to sway public opinion against the bill. Democratic State Senator Steve Gillardo argued that Arizona already has “the most liberal gun laws in the nation and that has to stop.” Clearly no friend to gun rights, Sen. Gillardo had proposed numerous amendments to the gun buy back bill including one limiting magazine sizes. All of which failed.

Nationally, the gun debate has taken odd turns as liberals have even sought to make the Boston Massacre into a second amendment issue. Actor Jay Mohr tweeted on Wednesday that the bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon is reason to remove American’s rights to protect themselves.

Since explosives are already illegal, the logic of Mr. Mohr’s statement is difficult to defend.

Ignorance about the repercussions of gun control is becoming more evident. News reports have shown that people will move to confiscate guns even when told that criminals would still have them.

Even when authorities decide to confiscate guns, they are unable to. In California, while spending way too much time deciding which guns law-abiding citizens should have, they’ve been unable to get guns out of the hands of those clearly identified (by law) as unable to possess firearms as the state has “a backlog of nearly 20,000 people to disarm”, says Stephen Lindley, chief of the Bureau of Firearms for the state Department of Justice.

Maybe Arizona’s Republican Senators are on to something. If citizens want to turn in their guns for a tiny payout, the return on investment could be great for municipalities. It’s kind of a second hand store for guns where the original owner is willing to take next to nothing for the firearm and maybe those wanting to hang on to their second amendment rights can get a good deal. Unfortunately, criminals don’t tend to turn in guns the rest of America actually wants to buy.

In the executive order, she was reaffirming the current Arizona law that denies taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to illegal immigrants.

Young illegal immigrants around the country between the ages of 16-30 around the nation began applying for work permits on Wednesday under the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The new federal ‘policy’ defers deportation of certain young illegal immigrants who have a high school diploma, a GED, or who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Services, and all applicants must not have committed certain crimes.

Jan Brewer labeled the new federal policy by Barack Obama as “backdoor amnesty” back in June when the policy was announced.

Arizona has been a leading state in fighting for the right to protect their citizens from illegal immigrants, most recently making the news with the Arizona v. United States Supreme Court decision.

The U.S. Supreme Court in June overturned parts of the Arizona enforcement law known as SB1070 but ruled that a key provision on requiring police to ask people about their immigration status under certain circumstances can be implemented.

The Obama Administration and Eric Holder challenged the law in 2010, claiming that Arizona doesn’t constitutionally have the right to pass the law, since Immigration powers are enumerated to the federal government.

A few facts that have come out about this “exchange of words.” First of all Barack Obama admits that he didn’t read the whole book, yet took umbrage with the fact that it didn’t paint him and his administration in a rosy, fluffy Liberal media way.

Secondly, President Obama did not dispute one single fact in the Governor’s book. Not one. So now we see a President that demands the facts be ignored when it suits his fluffed up agenda of spreading the misinformation about the illegal immigration problems America faces today. Governor Brewer has exposed Obama’s skin as being as thin of that which a snake has shed weeks ago and has been drying out in the sun. It is less than paper thin and twice as fragile. So much for the tough-guy image of Obama tried to bluff America and Congress with during his recent SOTU address.

Finally, President Obama received a harsh lesson in life from Governor Brewer as far as his all-powerful bully pulpit is concerned. Governor Brewer refused to bow down to the dictator, and got right in his face with the truth, no matter how uncomfortable the truth was for Barack Obama. Thank you Governor Brewer, for taking a stand and setting an example that all elected officials and Americans alike should follow. Truth-telling is making a comeback, much to the dismay of the Obama administration and the media puppets!
