Veterans Fight Back! October 13, 2013- Million Vet March on the Memorials

We are all military brats, current and former military spouses and some veterans. We cannot express how utterly disappointed we were that our Greatest Generation were being used as political pawns in the ongoing government shutdown and budget crisis. This should never be the case.

We do not care what political leanings you may be; be it liberal, conservative, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent or whatever. The actions of the U.S. government this week with regard to barricading and shutting down the World War II Memorial to veterans, that may or may not be on their last trip to Washington DC, is a despicable act of cowardice.

Veterans this week were unwillingly pitted as pawns in this crisis. We feel that this should never be the case. This is why we will go to Congress after the budget crisis and ask for a bill to be introduced that would prevent any member of the government from closing our memorials down to any American, except for maintenance purposes. In the meantime, we will have our March in Washington DC on October 13th! Our veterans deserve that!

Many in our group have decided that enough is enough. We are Americans. We are proud of our heritage and our service. As all of us were military brats and spouses, we have served in some form or another our entire lives. This is our way of life. We will not stand by and let the U.S. government dishonor the legacy of sacrifice of the generations before us. It is time to make a stand! We hope that you will join us in our peaceful protest against anti-American policies.

 

Get ready to join a million vets in Washington DC and online! The Administration has closed down war memorials that are normally open 24/7 and that do not have any staff to guard them under normal circumstances.

Federal Government: Embarrassing to the Point of Painful

As the so-called “government shutdown” drags on, one thing is hard not to admit: the Obama Administration is acting in a manner that is attempting to extract the maximum amount of pain on the American people. While many are wondering how it came to this point, those of us who actually paid attention in Social Studies, Civics and American History classes – school subjects that are, today, given little, if any, attention –
understand it’s because the US Constitution and the purity of the original governmental process has been raped by the opportunistic political class.

Our nation has always had a robust political discourse, commencing from before we were even a documented nation. We have always been represented by a passionate, spirited political class; strong in their beliefs, but educated and knowledgeable enough to legislate and govern for the good of all the people. Today, this is not the case.

Today, we have a political class that insists on the importance of ideologically motivated political “achievements” over the honest representation of the American people; loyalty to political faction – of which each and every Framer and Founder warned – over loyalty to those who delivered them to power via the ballot box.

Today, we literally have people in the political class that have an inferior command of the English language, an inferior and under-performing understanding of the principles of the Constitution and the Charters of Freedom, and a devotion to Progressivism; a non-indigenous, Marxist-based ideology that believes the State is the Alpha and the Omega; the giver of rights and the final arbiter of freedom and liberty.

Today, we have a government that does not – does not – serve the American people, evidenced – in a singular point – by the overwhelming and sustained majority of Americans who do not want the Affordable Care Act implemented on any level.

FOX News reports:

Is the Obama administration employing a make-it-hurt strategy to gain political leverage in the budget battle on Capitol Hill?

Republicans are making that charge as the stalemate drags on, and point to the Pentagon furlough of 400,000 civilian staffers — even though Congress passed and the president signed a bill to supposedly keep them on the job…

Republicans argue that the intent of the law was to keep them on the job, and that the Obama administration “narrowly interpreted” it against congressional intent in order to furlough more employees.

It’s one example of how, Republicans say, the administration is making the partial shutdown of government services worse than it needs to be. Many have complained about the National Park Service cordoning off even open-air monuments in Washington, DC, such as the World War II Memorial.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), responded to criticisms by saying, “It is time for Speaker Boehner to stop the games.”

Shamefully, FOX also reported that correspondence on this situation has stalled because, as Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA), stated, “Unfortunately, most of the staff who draft congressional correspondence are furloughed.”

A few notes on this shameful situation.

First, and to be equally critical to both sides, if “staffers that draft congressional correspondence” have been furloughed, perhaps those elected to Congress should learn to (and actually) write their own correspondence.

Second, to the Progressives, Democrats and our embarrassing President, it is never “game-playing” when the taxpayer’s money is being spent. It is “game-playing” when members of our military who have been maimed and permanently injured can’t get medical care because the politically opportune refuse to entertain appropriations passed through a traditional method (not every spending bill has to be an omnibus package, in fact traditionally, the 12 appropriation bills have been passed separately).

House Republicans “screwed the pooch” when they didn’t advance ACA funding as a separate, stand-alone appropriations bill from the start. When House Speaker Boehner stated that this Congress would operate under “regular order” he should have stated that the House would be de-bundling all legislation into stand-alone pieces, shining the light of truth and accountability on everything that passed across the House floor. Sadly, traditional, inside-the-beltway pork politics prevailed and the practice of bundling legislation to appease the politically greedy has delivered us to this point.

Truth be told, had the political class not blindly followed the Progressive Movement into ratifying the 17th Amendment, none of this would have ever come to pass. But, then, the Commerce Clause wouldn’t have even come close to allowing much of what the Federal government has done that encroaches into our daily lives.

Additionally, if Harry Reid would have operated lawfully, the omnibus appropriations package would have already been legislated, as he is – is – bound by law to have produced a budget by April 15 of each year. He has not done so since before Republicans took control of the House.

The sad, but glaringly true, fact is this. Our government has become too big and too bureaucratic. Our government has manipulated and strayed from the boundaries of the US Constitution, which is a mandated blueprint for limiting government.

Until We the People insist on repealing the 17th Amendment so as to re-employ constitutional protections for the States, and until Congress re-visits the Federal government’s grotesquely over-reaching interpretation of the Commerce Clause, it will be up to the States to save the nation, either by Constitutional Convention (which in and of itself is very dangerous were the original words of the Constitution to be manipulated by the opportunistic) or by, God forbid, secession.

And it is with tears in my eyes for our country; for freedom; for liberty itself, that I acquiesce to the notion. Buy, my God, are we to allow the greatest achievement of freedom in the history of the world be extinguished at the hand of ideological bullies?

The words of Patriot Patrick Henry said so very seriously then, are just as cogent today:

“Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! — I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

The democrats want a blank check again to spend, and are blaming the conservatives for not being willing to compromise – also accusing them of not being fiscally responsible. Of course, liberals also think that just because ObamaCare is the law, it’s not up for being debated or changed. Joe Dan Gorman suggests the radical concept of not giving in to liberals. Now, we just have to see if the conservatives that are left in Washington take that advice. Of course, there’s also more indictments against the mainstream media.

Senator Rubio Rips Pork-Laden Omnibus Bill

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fl) voted against H.R. 2055, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012, which passed the U.S. Senate on Saturday, Dec. 18th, 2011 in an attempt to avoid a government shutdown once again. The last minute deal was necessary due to the gridlock in the U.S. Senate where Majority Leader Harry Reid has refused to allow votes on the numerous spending bills sitting on his desk for months. Senator Rubio joins Senator John McCain who took to the Senate floor to voice his strong objections as to how this bill was rammed through without following proper authorizations procedures. Senator Rubio released the following statement explaining why he voted against H.R. 2055:

“This massive 1,200-plus page bill represents everything that is wrong with Washington. Our country faces major economic challenges, but Congress wasted the whole year stuck in partisan gridlock only to pass a funding bill that solves none of our problems, just to avoid a government shutdown. This plan spends too much, wastes precious taxpayer dollars to fund a menu of job-killing regulations, anti-life provisions and earmarks, and has been ushered through Congress in a highly secretive and non-transparent manner that didn’t allow for consideration of even a single amendment. I cannot support it.”

In the following Marco Rubio constituent mailbox video we see just how fed up Americans truly are with the current state of DC and the big government debt-spending that continues unabated.

Almost all House Republican measures to reign in spending that were included in H.R. 2055 as it passed through the House were somehow craved out by the Senate. The Senate did leave the Republican light bulb ban stoppage measure in the final bill. Senator Jim DeMint came out with a scathing letter about just what has transipred in the U.S. senate once again, titled, A Shameful End to the Year.In it we see the following truths exposed:

The hard choice Democrats have given Republicans has paid off for the big-spenders again.

Refusing to work together to cut spending, Democrats demanded that Republicans compromise with them to increase spending, or shut down the government.

As a result, Congress rammed through a 1,000-page, trillion-dollar omnibus spending bill that lumped 9 different appropriations bills in a single package at the very last minute rather than debating, amending, and voting on these bills in a transparent manner.

As was reported here, this last-minute spending spree to supposedly avoid a government shut-down is beng done by design by Senate Democrats, and Senator Jim DeMint appears to agree with that assessment:

It’s become a cynical yearly tradition in Washington to delay the big-spending votes until just before Christmas. After all, it’s how Democrats in the Senate passed ObamaCare. Members of Congress are now hurrying home after the vote without much talk, but it should not be forgotten. It represents a shameful end to a year that began with many bold assurances.

Conservatives must win a majority in the U.S. Senate in the 2012 elections if we are ever to reverse the course of big government debt-spending that threatens to throw America off of the debt-cliff she is standing on the edge of. It is blatantly obvious that Democrats refuse to curb their debt-spending addiction, to the detriment of our great nation.

Senator John McCain Blasts Big Government Grifters Taxpayer Abuse

Obama creates debt commission, then ignores their solutions

A grifter is defined by urbandictionary.com as a: someone who swindles you through deception or fraud, and b: a grifter is an expert in illicit acquisition of goods or services through various methods of over confident flim-flammery and fast talking. Apparently several members of Congress today fit both definitions of the term grifter, as outlined above. Senator John McCain took to the floor of the United States Senate today to call out the unauthorized spending, waste, and pay-for-play disservice to the American taxpayer that was slid into the current 2012 defense spending bill. This is where the term Big Government Grifter comes into play.

The Maverick Really Gets Fired Up! Senator John McCain (R-AZ) was livid about the wasteful spending he discovered that was tucked into the defense spending bill, and repeatedly slammed his fist down on the podium in an expression of utter disgust as he gave his floor speech today. The text of the entire speech is available here, and the following are just a few examples of exactly what was also mentioned in this article on the current omnibus spending bill also being rammed through Congress this week:

Mr. President, I come to the floor today to discuss the Fiscal Year 2012 Omnibus Appropriations bill that the House just passed this afternoon and the Senate will vote on tomorrow. Once again, the Senate is faced with a thousand-plus page behemoth of an appropriations bill and very little in the way of authorizations to support it. So here we are, at the end of another calendar year, cramming what should be months of actual debate and legislating into hours of reckless appropriating.

As was detailed in this CDN article, this points to a pattern of being done by design to avoid any forms of Congressional accountability and transparency. In a statement that backs that theory up, Senator McCain called upon Senator Coburn today to bring to light the fact that Congress is currently severely cutting funding to the Government Accountability Office in 2012. The GAO is the non-partisan watchdog that helps the government weed out waste and fraud to protect the taxpayers. The current planned cuts for the 2012 budget will result in a total of 400 less employees at the GAO.

Here are some bullet points from Mr. McCain’s Senate floor speech today:

So let’s compare last years omnibus debacle to this years:

• “Last year – 1,924 pages. This year – 1,221 pages.
• “Last year – all 12 annual appropriations bills. This year – nine of the annual appropriations bills.
• “Last year – over $1.1 trillion in spending. This year – over $915 billion in spending or $1.043 trillion if you include the three bills we’ve already passed. That works out to be a reduction of 5% from last year to this year. Taxpayers get a better deal at a Macy’s Christmas sale.
• “Last year – 6,488 earmarks totaling nearly $8.3 billion. This year – no traditional “earmarks” but over $3.5 billion in unauthorized spending in DoD alone.
“So should we consider this progress? Are we doing anything differently? The national debt is now at the record level of over $15 trillion, which is more than $48,000 per citizen, yet we have failed to make any significant, meaningful spending cuts and we continue with business as usual.

Senator McCain went on to outline how the whole appropriations process is fundamentally flawed today. “We have a fundamental problem in the Senate, Mr. President, of being unable to engage in the process of authorizing prior to regular appropriations. And what is the outcome? A handful of appropriators and unelected staffs disburse hundreds of billions of dollars, often in a manner that directly contravenes the will of the authorizers. Consequently, at the 11th hour of the process, we ram through an omnibus measure so that we can get out of town for the holidays. It’s disgraceful Mr. President.”

Mr. McCain goes on to show us how unauthorized spending has been injected into the defense spending bill through this rushed-through omnibus bill they are now being forced to pass.
This omnibus contains a number of objectionable provisions: (shortened versions)

Guam is getting earmarks of $33 million U.S. taxpayer dollars for 53 civilian school buses,and a cultural artifacts depository. (museum) Sen. McCain added, “I can only say that the many citizens of Arizona who are out of work, whose homes have been lost due to the economic downturn, who would benefit from any sort of action by the Federal Government to create jobs and ease their burdens, feel nothing but outrage when they see this kind of blatant waste and abuse of the political system that has gone on for years and years and years. But that’s not the end of this sad story. Within this initial funding grant to Guam of $33 million is $9.6 million for the first phase of a mental health facility that advocates claim is somehow related to the proposed military buildup on Guam. I’m still trying to sort this argument out, but I have that odd feeling that to do so I must go down the rabbit hole to Alice in Wonderland.

And Senator McCain was just getting wound up in the first 10 minutes of today’s floor speech, to which he added about the Guam mental health facility to be built with U.S. Taxpayer dollars: “And, of course, this $9.6 million dollars of pork in the FY12 Defense Appropriations bill is only the down payment, the ‘nose of the camel under the tent’ you might say, because to complete the facility as required to satisfy the already existing federal injunction against Guam, another $33 million will be required next year in 2013 to finish out the project as well as building a new public health laboratory. Wonderful!”
Senator McCain went on to mention the Tea Party and how fed-up Americans are with these kinds of Big Government Grifters that are doing this kind of wasteful, reckless spending:

The American people have seen this kind of abuse and waste for far too often, and they have had enough of it. They are convinced Congress never learns. And by this example, it’s hard to say they are wrong. In fact, this sort of complete waste and abuse of the taxpayers’ money proves they are exactly right.”

To which he added: “If you don’t understand the rise of the Tea Party, you can start by looking right here.”

The second half of Senator McCain’s Senate floor speech was just as informative as the first half as he laid out such things as other provisions. “The Defense portion of the Omnibus contains some $3.5 billion in unrequested, unauthorized spending for items that are not core, high-priority Defense requirements. As you will see, Mr. President, many old favorites appear on the list.” Again, I urge all concerned citizens to check the complete list of waste, fraud, and taxpayer abuse found in the latest omnibus bill, brought to you by the Big Government Grifters of Congress, and outlined on Senator McCain’s website.

Footnote: How ironic is this fact? Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) Is on the House floor giving a speech right now, saying how wonderful the tireless staff on the House Appropriations Committee have been while working on this omnibus bill. Mr. Rogers is the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Maybe he should give Senator John McCain a call and have a discussion about just how wonderful this pork-laden, fraud-upon-the-taxpayers omnibus truly is for the U.S. Taxpayer.

Government Shutdown Avoided at Last Minute [Again]

Greece here we come

Once again, DC lawmakers painted themselves into a corner and had to scramble to avoid a government shutdown at the very last minute by reaching another “deal” to fund a major part of the United States government in 2012. Just what grand bargain have the wizards of DC struck this time? Once again the details are scarce, and it looks like we the people will just have to wait a few weeks to actually find out how the government plans on spending the people’s hard-earned tax revenues in 2012. The pattern of these last minute deals in Congress regarding spending bills of the last three-plus years is a pretty neat trick. It allows lawmakers to avoid any accountability or transparency as to how they are spending the people’s money, and this appears to be done by design. When ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi said we will have to pass the bills to see what’s in them, maybe folks should have made a bigger effort to denounce those kinds of oppressive policies and obviously-manipulated lack of transparency right then and there.

Just What Do We Actually Know So Far About This Latest Grand Bargain?

The big bundle of appropriations agreed upon on Dec 15, 2011 which is also know as an omnibus bill,( which Congress constantly tells us they will no longer resort to using in passing spending bills) will fund the government for the rest of fiscal year 2012. Total spending in this omnibus bill has been reported at anywhere from 900 billion to 1.1 trillion dollars. As of right now, when this bill lands on President Obama’s desk for his signature, it’s anyone’s guess as to the true costs hidden in it. The Senate Appropriations Committee’s website was last updated on Dec. 8th, proving once again, that the citizenry will just have to wait until after the president signs the bill before they can see what’s in it. How much is that website costing we the people for that laughable example of transparency?

In a much-ballyhooed bunch of irresponsible reporting so far, about all we know about this omnibus bill is that the demands for reapplying stricter travel restrictions on Americans traveling to Cuba was taken out. Big whoopee-do there. Of course the earmarks, graft, crony-capitalism and outright tax dollar theft hidden in this omnibus bill will eventually come out, but by then it will be too late for we the people to call up our representatives and express our concerns about this latest example of buffoonery perpetuated by the wizards of Congress. That’s it. Over a trillion dollars of taxpayer funding has been authorized by the United States Congress and we the people have not been told a thing about how it will be spent.

2012 just can’t get here fast enough. Then again, maybe 2012 will just bring about the continuation of the irresponsible debt-spending that will lead America over the edge of the Greek-style debt-cliff she is standing on today. After watching this latest episode in “As the Congressional dog and pony show turns.” it certainly looks that way.

2011 Budget “Deal” Means “Historic” Deficit Spending to Continue

The first headline I encountered at 4 am about the government shutdown soap opera that we have been inunindated with for weeks now, is truly puzzling. From FoxNews.com;  ‘Historic’ Deal Made to Avoid Closure .  It might just be time to sign FoxNews up as head of promotions for Obama’s 2012 Continuing to trash America Re-election campaign by the looks of things here. The only two things that are historic concerning this situation is the fact that we will continue to spend record amounts of tax payer dollars that will be borrowed from other countries thus piling on record debt, and the historic amount of flat out fear-mongering and lies that were told to the people by the media in this fiasco.

To put it in one simple sentence, our government wants the American people to believe that Obama and our Congressional representatives are some kind of heroes for putting us under what now will be sure to surpass $15 trillion dollars of national debt.  According to the Washington Times, our national deficit will reach almost $2 trillion dollars in 2011. That means that we are on a pace to spend $2 trillion more dollars than the U.S. treasury is projected to take in this year.

Mr. Obama’s budget projects that 2011 will see the biggest one-year debt jump in history, or nearly $2 trillion, to reach $15.476 trillion by Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year. That would be 102.6 percent of GDP — the first time since World War II that dubious figure has been reached.

And the budget projects the government will run a deficit of $1.645 trillion this year, topping 2009’s previous record by more than $230 billion. By contrast, 2007’s deficit was just $160 billion altogether.

Check the above numbers over one more time, and we see that, yes, we are truly in “historic” times today, at least as far as our government’s spending us into financial Armageddon goes, anyway.  We can expect President Obama to be championed as a real hero and budget hawk ,          (in the media fluff sure to come out today) that has saved the lives of millions of people due to his wizardry during this fake budget debate. Millions of lives were  saved, according to lunatic Democratic Congresswoman Louis Slaughter, (D- NY) who told us all yesterday on national TV, that the Republicans wanted to kill women by de-funding the abortion promoters over at Planned Parenthood. You can watch this disgusting display of shameful rhetoric right here:

Oh yes, maybe this person truly does have the fitting last name of Slaughter , as in Slaughtering the idea that the Democrats are calling for a new “civil discourse” in America today.  That episode right there should be enough get her kicked right the hell out of the people’s government, period. What  say the voters of New York about that truth ?

Since I mentioned the sure to come trumpeting of Obama and company as heroes that avoided millions of deaths from a government shutdown earlier, let’s take a browse around the news right now at 5:35 am the Saturday morning that followed this “historic” action. Let the spin begin. Over at yahoo.com we see Obama’s own version of,  ‘lets make heroes out of the idiots that are bankrupting America, spin:”

Obama: government shut down avoided after budget deal.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said on Friday that compromises by both Democrat and Republican lawmakers involving “painful” spending cuts had secured a budget deal and avoided a shutdown of the U.S. government

In remarks at the White House less than an hour before a midnight deadline to shut the government down, Obama thanked the leaders of both parties for reaching an agreement he said delivered the deepest spending cuts in U.S. budget history (emphasis mine)

Painful spending cuts Mr. President? 38 billion is nothing when stacked up next to your current Historic Deficit Spending of 2011.

Deepest spending cuts in U.S. budget history? Total dollars in spending cuts are only historic due to the fact that you have already jacked up our national deficits and debt to unprecedented levels. The true number would be found in the percentage of the budget dollars that are being cut as compared to other years.We see lots of spin using the word historic again that amount to nothing more than Liberal math being used to perpetuate budget gimmickry through catch-phrases designed to hide the truth.

Over at TheDeseret news we see more fluff and spin here , in which the politicians were made out to have been digging ditches and plowing fields by hand for the past six weeks !

The deal came together after six grueling weeks and an outbreak of budget brinksmanship over the past few days as the two sides sought to squeeze every drop of advantage in private talks. (emphasis mine)

Six grueling weeks? Let me remind the intelligent, open-minded readers of the facts about those six grueling weeks there. First of all, this is the first time in six weeks that these elitists haven’t taken a four and a half day weekend. That’s right, I don’t consider it a grueling week when you cut out at noon on Thursday afternoon and return to work on Tuesday at whatever time you chose to saunter in to work for the people. As a matter of fact, we need time clocks and punch-in cards for these phony elitists today, then we shall wee who is actually working  forty-plus hours a week like the people paying their salaries, and who isn’t. This is a continuation of the lie that said every politician up on the hill worked all night to try to get a budget deal done. Do they really think the people are so stupid that they will believe that lie? Half of the misfits in Congress can’t stay awake and pay attention during legislative debates during normal working hours, that is when they chose to actually show up, and we are supposed to believe they worked, 60 or 70 hours straight all of a sudden ? Take a look at some of these politicians, it looks like they can barely stand up long enough to make a fifteen minute speech, let alone work for three days straight.

The agreement, which came after days of partisan sparring and rhetorical drama, would fund the government through the end of September and cut $78.5 billion compared to Obama’s proposed but never enacted fiscal 2011 budget. (emphasis mine)

When they mention $78.5 billion in budget cuts total there, note the keywords compared to Obama’s 2011 budget proposal. That proposal also increases our deficit in 2011 to a record  $1.9 trillion dollars. So no in reality, we are not cutting 78.5 billion from anything there.  That is why the realistic total budget cuts for 2011 in this latest deal is mostly stated at around a paltry $38 billion.

So there we have it folks, record deficit spending will continue for the rest of 2011 as we march towards the bankruptcy of the United States of America, and the media propagandists will force-feed the people about how the traitors in Congress, along with Barrack Hussein Obama are to be worshipped as tirelessly working heroes who saved millions of American lives by averting a government shutdown. The propaganda media machine of the left is the only group working overtime here, and it shows. In the meantime, taxpayers are still forced to pay for the Planned Parenthood murder of babies through abortions, the EPA is still passing illegal laws and regulations without going through Congress first, and  gasoline prices are  skyrocketing.  These heroes actually look more like zeroes from my vantage point here.

The catch-phrase propaganda term of the day; “Historic.”  Watch for it.

Clear enough ?  Mark my words, when America is declared bankrupt and defaults on the $14 trillion in debt loans in the very near future, I,m going to personally rub your faces in this crap for calling it historic and lying to the people about what is really happening here. At some point, we the people must hold the media propagandists accountable for these types of lies and skewed information. Furthermore, calling this a GOP victory is another lie. Boehner didnt win anything, just votes on Planned parenthood’s murder machine and Obamacare that the Harry Rid-controlled Senate will throw in the trash. Also, I notice the EPA defunding vote isn’t mentioned. As far as reducing spending and creating a business-friendly atmosphere to repair our economy, defunding the EPA is the most important issue. Senate Democrats Will Crush Military Families to Save Planned Parenthood

On Friday morning, Sen. Harry Reid told America why he may shut down the government: to save Planned Parenthood.

“I’m saying to them what all newspapers and pundits are saying around the country, how could they close up the government on an issue dealing with women’s health,” Reid responded. When Cordes noted Republicans said the issue was really spending cuts, the Nevada Democrat said, “well anyone at that meeting last night at the White House — and that’s not many people — they know the number that was given to us by the Speaker was agreed upon the only thing left standing was Planned Parenthood.”

The far-left, extremist progressive arm of the Democrat party is forcing an ideological battle that will crush military families.  Often living paycheck to paycheck, missing just one payday will put added strain on families already stressed by multiple, long deployments to one of three wars the Obama administration is juggling.

Sen. Reid calls the sticking point a “women’s health issue”. According to Planned Parenthood’s own report, it performs almost a third of all the abortions in the United States. That same report shows that “97.6 percent of pregnant women going to Planned Parenthood are sold abortions while less than 2.4 percent of pregnant women received non-abortion services including adoption and prenatal care”.

While title 10 is one consideration for the Democrats feigned concern on women’s health issues, the real reason is money. Over $300 million per year is given to Planned Parenthood, a $1 Billion company. Much of that money is funneled back into the coffers of Democrat candidates. If Planned Parenthood gets cut off, so does one source of tax payer funding of Democrat candidates.

Roe v. Wade gave women the right to an abortion. Harry Reid and his group of extreme left-wingers are planning to hurt military families so that they can continue funneling tax payer money to a business that is obviously focused on one thing – abortions.

Federal Shut Down…before you open that beer…

Many of us are cheering for a government shut down. Who wouldn’t be willing to make the ‘if it isn’t essential, why do we even have it?’statement? Unfortunately, a little rain must fall on every parade. Or something like that. The President has deftly allowed the Republican House Representatives to paint themselves into a corner–truly well played. The Republicans can spin it anyway they want–even if voters blame President Obama or the Senate Democrats, the fact remains there will be soldiers (Marines, sailors, airmen et al) who can not make ends meet if they don’t get paid on time. What’s that you say, that they’ll be paid those missed days because nobody would ever short change SOLDIERS AT WAR for a few days pay? Irrelevant. Moot point. These young soldiers, often with small families, live on less than paycheck to paycheck.

Single soldiers leave in dorm-like environments complete with dining facilities that serve 3 meals/7 days. They get clothing (somewhat!) for physical activity and work. There’s usually a common room with a TV. And entertainment…nothing more entertaining than harassing your peers! If they don’t get paid on time, there will be some gnashing of teeth, fears and late fees, but nobody goes hungry, nobody loses any work.

Married soldiers on the other hand have a different set of challenges. They may live off post, and although the military credits them a housing supplement, will it arrive this month? There are extremely few military members on food stamps, but an amazingly large percentage live paycheck to paycheck. How many families with 2-4 members, led by a high school graduate 20 year old breadwinner DON’T live paycheck to paycheck? The nearly unique opportunities afforded by the military include moving quite often (to different states, or even foreign countries), moving to places that already have entirely too many other military spouses who have spotty work histories looking for entry level jobs, and the chance to have the breadwinner leave for 30 days to 15 months at a time–leaving the remaining spouse in a new place with no support system. Of course, many wives take their kids and move home with to be closer to their parents.

So as you cheer the excess, surplus and extraneous (ie the nonessential) being furloughed for a week or more, remember there are young kids who have signed up to risk their lives and aren’t going to have their paychecks next week.

Lament the unicorns and kittens while forgetting your own grandchildren if you follow that line of bull crap.

Harry Reid and his cronies are crying foul because they lost, failed and are still failing. They lost the 2010 election. They failed to pass a budget last year when they had a progressive, liberal, Democrat majority in both houses and control of the White House.

They are still failing because they are making illogical, false,  propaganda-like statements to a newly awakened American majority; the just right-of-center America; the true America.

Harry and his band of miscreants failed to pass a budget last year. FAILED at one of the most important tasks given to Congress – a task specifically outlined in the Constitution of the United States. While passing a number of resolutions celebrating this holiday or that, commemorating a statue here or a library there and the infamously craptastic health care reform they rammed down our throats, they did NOT do what they were elected to do. They did NOT pass a budget. They did NOT keep care of the nation with which we entrusted them. They killed the unicorns.

Harry Reid has stated that the budget stalemate is due to extremist ideology – for once, he is right. Progressive, left-wing extremist ideologues have been and are driving the Democrats to destruction. They are holding up the entire budget to fund the industrialized baby-killers: Planned Parenthood.

If Planned Parenthood were such a worthy institution, wouldn’t it be able to attract enough funding from generous donors? If health care were it’s major need for federal funds, wouldn’t most of their patients already be on Medicaid? The answer to all of that is .. YES. Planned Parenthood isn’t about parents, parenthood or women – it’s about abortions.  The extreme left-wing of the Democrat party is going to shut down the government to protect one special interest group – abortion factories.

This isn’t about abortion per se, the real point of contention is the spending of hard-earned, good-hearted Americans on something they may not agree with. If a woman wants to end her pregnancy there are those that might say that her individual liberty outweighs that of the child’s. I’m not one, but they are out there. While the Supreme Court has ruled that a woman has a right to choose, the rest of America should not be forced to pay for her decision. Just because I have the right to own a gun, does not require the whole of America to buy me one or even help – in fact, I would be insulted if it did.

When the liberals are whining about the entitlements that people may have suspended or that they may lose, realize that if you agree with them, you are stealing from your fellow Americans and future generations to support failed government entitlement programs that everyone knows do NOT work.

So when you see pictures of burglars breaking into the houses of the retired, kids starving, schools in decline .. just remember – it’s the unicorns that are really taking the brunt of GOP budget cuts – the rest of us .. really just don’t matter at all.

 

Budget Battle: The Bamster’s Gonna get Slimed

The 2010 budget battle has come to this. Obama threatens our troops with loss of pay if House Speaker John Boehner’s one-week Continuing Resolution passes a vote in the Senate.  The Obama Administration, Thursday afternoon, April 7th, sent the following E-mail, blasting it to various legislators in Congress:

The Administration strongly opposes House passage of H.R. 1363, making appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2011, and for other purposes. As the President stated on April 5, 2011, if negotiations are making significant progress, the Administration would support a short-term, clean Continuing Resolution to allow for enactment of a final bill.

For the past several weeks, the Administration has worked diligently and in good faith to find common ground on the shared goal of cutting spending.

After giving the Congress more time by signing short-term extensions into law, the President believes that we need to put politics aside and work out our differences for a bill that covers the rest of the fiscal year. This bill is a distraction from the real work that would bring us closer to a reasonable compromise for funding the remainder of Fiscal Year 2011 and avert a disruptive Federal Government shutdown that would put the Nation’s economic recovery in jeopardy. The Administration will continue to work with the Congress to arrive at a compromise that will fund the Government for the remainder of the fiscal year in a way that does not undermine future growth and job creation and that averts a costly Government shutdown. It is critical that the Congress send a final bill to the President’s desk that provides certainty to our men and women in military uniform, their families, small businesses, homeowners, taxpayers, and all Americans.  H.R. 1363 simply delays that critical final outcome.

If presented with this bill, the President will veto it.

Contrary to a superficial assessment, the petulant email actually shows weakness on the part of Captain Kickass. Remember, this is a president who votes “Present” at every possible opportunity. Obama has been forced to actually come down from Mount Olympus and take a position. How big of him. This is nothing more than the old Good Cop/Bad Cop routine. Naturally, Obama is casting Harry Reid in the role of the Bad Cop. If Reid votes a vote on the one-week Continuing Resolution, and it passes, then the Good Cop (that would be the Bamster) will ride to the rescue and veto that bad Continuing Resolution foisted on him by that bad Majority Leader. Remember, there is no honor among thieves.

The Bamster’s weak attempt to paint the Republicans with the obstructionist charge on the battle of the budget is laughable. It was the Democrats who failed to pass a budget last fall when they held all the cards. The Democrats could have passed any budget they wanted to. They chose for political reasons not to. They simply didn’t want to be painted with yet another big spending brush right become the midterm elections. Fair enough. But what goes around comes around. Now those south ends of a herd of northbound Jackasses have to deal with the Tea Parties in Congress. Hurts, don’t it!

The best thing Boehner can do right now is to hold firm. Force the Bamster to actually follow through on his threat. The political fallout will all be on Barry – he won’t be able to vote “Present” when his veto is the only thing standing between American troops and their paychecks.  The Nobel Peace Prize winner sure doesn’t hesitate to continue, escalate, and start new wars. But he won’t pay the troops?

Methinks the Bamster doth protest too much. After all, he presided over the Jackasses’ failure to produce a budget. He’s the Bamster in question who literally calls it in when starting a war, oh yeah – a Kinetic Military Action, whatever… and skips out of down on the eve of the government shutdown. Fine. Give him what he is asking for. Obama threatens it – he owns it. Lock, stock, and fly on the lip.

Look at it pragmatically. If the Bamster goes through with his threat to deny pay to the troops he is committing breach of contract. You know, the troops promise to fight and the U.S. Government promises to pay them.  Imagine the legal quagmire that could cause the Jackasses!

And let’s not forget poor ole Harry Reid, caught between a hard place and a Senate majority of Jackasses. Don’t think he doesn’t resent the Bamster’s trickeration. Old Barry’s boxed Hairy the Reed into a very uncomfortable corner. For example, Harry is desperately trying to keep the Jackasses in control of the Senate. He is trying his best to avoid having to take tough votes – thereby keeping the collectivist butts of all his Jackasses relatively clean. If Reid follows the Bamster’s lead and doesn’t bring the Continuing Resolution to a vote then he gets the knock from the public, along with the Bamster, for forcing the gubmint shutdown. But if he goes ahead and passes the darn thing then he loses face when, and if, Barry vetoes it. What’s a Harry to do?! Harry has got to be doing The Calculus on this one. Chances are Harry figures Obama is full of it. It is an empty threat. Any bill that hits his desk is by definition bi-partisan. Obama loses what little credibility he has left with the progressives if he vetoes the Continuing Resolution after the Senatorial Jackasses pass the darn thing. If Reid keeps the bill from coming to a vote he emasculates himself by doing Barry’s dirty work for him. It’s a losing proposition for the tumbleweed from Searchlight, Nevada.

Furthermore, don’t forget that Barry “Present” Soetero didn’t offer a single substantive point in his stated opposition to the GOP’s Continuing Resolution. Which is tantamount to just crying “trust me!” Yeah, sure, Obama, and the horse you rode in on. Lest we not forget, the Bamster just announced his bid for another term in the big house. He can kiss it goodbye if he cuts our troops off at the knees.

Go ahead, Barry, shut it down! After all, you already exited Libya, so why should you care? Oh, yeah, there’s that little thing of forcing the Congressional Jackasses to choose between themselves or Barry. After the midterm elections, Barry, which way do you think those Jackasses are going to go, Barry? Nope, try again! It’s a fairly safe bet that your veto will fall by the wayside during an override of your veto. Quack, Quack, Quack. Can you say Lame Duck?

And the Dems are going to pin a shutdown on the GOP how…? The GOP is the only political party that has been offering up any solutions. Barry hasn’t and neither have the Congressional Jackasses. Barry is simply using our military as human shields. Barry makes Jimmy Carter look like a rock star.

Other than the military issue what’s not to like about a government shutdown? Does it mean that Planned Parenthood doesn’t get money for abortions? Darn! Does it mean that PBS doesn’t get cash for communist programming? Da! Does it mean that the FCC can’t go ahead with its version of Cap and Trade? You betcha! Come to think of it, a government shutdown is nothing but an enforced budget cut. Cry me a river!

Go ahead, Barry. Make our day!

Government Shutdown Rhetoric Contains Major Fearmongering

Friday night at midnight, the U.S. Government will be effectively shutdown, babies will starve to death and Senior citizens will be lined up and shot to death in the public square by firing squads made up of Republican politicians.  While this may seem like a far-fetched scenario,  this is the main theme from Democrats that refuse to even attempt to come to a reasonable solution in the current budget debate. Keep in mind that Republicans have offered several different budget proposals, while we have yet to see anything substantial put down on paper from the Democratic side of the aisle. Big bloated, redundant, wasteful and fraudulent government programs must not be touched, to hear the Democrats tell it.

I recently called attention to the recent GOP Budget plan for 2012 that compares Obama’s proposed $9 trillion in more irresponsible spending and debt to Paul Ryan’s $6.2 trillion in cuts proposal here. We are fast approaching $15 trillion in national debt people, our world credit rating is about to fall, states are facing bankruptcy, and Democrats want to just keep right on spending us into financial Armageddon !

When looking into the effects that a federal Government shutdown would have on States, we see one glaring fact: States already in the worst financial condition would suffer the worst almost immediately. I consider this as a great reason  to shut the government down, if nothing else it will teach these states some fiscal responsibility.  Also of note is the fact that the states in the worst financial condition are mostly the blue Democratically controlled nanny states, as noted in the N.Y.Times :

“The impact of a short federal shutdown would be minimal, the association wrote in a recent briefing paper. A longer shutdown could pose problems. Even if many of the potential fiscal effects are relatively small, they could create cash-flow problems for some states already operating on tight budgets. (emphasis mine)

Illinois, for example, is currently trying to pay off a $4.5 billion backlog of bills to vendors going back to October. Bradley C. Hahn, a spokesman for the Illinois comptroller, Judy Baar Topinka, said, “A shutdown would be particularly devastating for states like ours that have no margins to cover the costs.”

Illinois also happens to be the home state of our community organizer in chief, Barack Hussein Obama, and this is very indicative of his Socialist policies that are included right in his very own bloated budget proposal.  This is the main reason we see the Democrats so opposed to cutting any government programs, as those same programs are basically  federal wealth redistribution to liberal nanny states.

What do the majority of the above listed states have in common? Most are controlled by Democrats, with the exception of Texas, whom has a more realistic way of dealing with their budget every year. Unions are also predominant in those states, and that is how the Democrats stay in power in them. Democrats give them lavish salaries and benefits beyond what the states can afford, and the Unions in return buy the votes and campaign ads for them and also supply the get out the vote manpower to keep them in power.  Shut the government down for several weeks, and let these parasitic nanny states pay the price. Sure it will effect the rest of the states to some degree, but that will let the public see just how responsible states can operate without the federal bloated bureaucracy sucking the life out of them.
Fiscally responsible red states will continue to operate for the most part under a government shutdown.  The main agenda behind the democratic fear-mongering about babies starving and seniors dying if the government does shut down is pretty simple: Democrats are scared to death that it will expose exactly which states are sucking on the federal wealth redistribution pipeline the most, and the fact that this is where the Democrats derive their power base.  That will show the people the truth about the Democratic party of today, and how they are behind the big government expansion that has us approaching $15 trillion dollars in debt today. This is also why the Democrats failed to produce a budget last year, as those numbers would expose the truth about their last 4 years of controlling both Houses of Congress and the irresponsiblespending that occurred under their regime. All essential personnel will still be working during a shutdown. Just who is deemed essential will be determined in large part by the President. That puts him on the hottest seat of all, thus he is calling for the budget problem to be resolved.
Either install some fiscal sanity, or shut the government down and let the truth be told about which states are irresponsible spenders that won’t be able to survive very long if the federal government shuts down. That fact is already proven right here in this article. The Democratic nanny states will be in big trouble without the federal wealth redistribution of tax dollars, and will be hit the hardest. Serves them, and the ignorant voters who keep them in power, right!  I believe that would also come under the heading of true “social justice.”

Point Your Finger at Me All You Want, Harry Reid!

It is not very often that I can actually say I agree with Harry Reid. In fact, right off the top of my head, I cannot recall ever saying the words, “Harry Reid is right!” I guess it is true- there is always a first time for everything!

Harry Reid is “disappointed” that the Tea Party Republicans are preventing a “solution on a long-term budget”. My message to the Tea Party Republicans is this: “DO NOT COMPROMISE!”

On “Fox & Friends” this morning, Peter Johnson, Jr. said something that hit the nail on the head!
To paraphrase him, he said: Washington leaders have comprised so much over the years that it Washington (Congress) has become compromised.

This is true for both parties, all presidents!

Yes, I know that you have to compromise on some things. But when you are not responsible in your compromises you lose your credibility. There has to be some accountability in Washington! We The People voted in Tea Party Republicans to bring some accountability to the system, and if they compromise, we will be more than happy to compromise their leadership position and vote them out!

Harry Reid warned the “established” Republicans that they needed to “ditch” the Tea Party or face government shutdown.

We the People of the Tea Party have a warning of our own to Washington- Republicans and Democrats! We WILL NOT back down! The government can shut down! In fact, that would be completely fine with me! Now that we are talking about shutting the government down, what do you say we just clean house? If they cannot come to a resolution on the National Budget where CONSIDERABLE cuts are made, then they are not cut out for the job they have been entrusted with!

So, keep on, Harry Reid! Point your finger at me all you want! Since the President wants to tell everyone to “act like grownups” in planning the National Budget he needs to take a look at himself and his party. Grownups have to make hard decisions! If we do not have the funds in our household budget we have to make budget cuts. REAL grownups realize this!

In reality, the budget cuts that are being proposed by the Republicans are not nearly enough. It is a mere drop in the bucket to what is necessary. My husband put it in terms I could better understand. The amount of money that is being cut in the proposal essentially eliminates nine days- yes, 9 whole days- from the entire year’s budget! Last month, the Federal Government spent approximately $8 trillion. This averages out to approximately $4 billion a day. Now, I say approximately, because honestly, my mind cannot even fathom what that looks like!

To make sure I had my fact straight, I looked up what this would be written out in numbers. So, in numbers, the Federal government spends approximately $8,000,000,000,000 a month! This means in a day, the Federal government spends approximately $4,000,000,000.

While I would like to get my fact straight for my readers, seeing this written out still does not help me with the enormity of this number. But I would be willing to bet that I am no different than most of the leaders in Washington- and I am not a betting person! I am sure for someone like Harry Reid or most of the other elected officials in Washington this is just a number written on paper that means absolutely nothing to them.

We have been told with the “facts and figures” used for Obamacare that the CBO simply threw out numbers they were given. They did not look at the numbers objectively. This proves that numbers mean absolutely nothing to Washington. As long as they can pull the wool over the eyes of the majority of the citizens they are ok.

I may not be able to balance a budget with that many zeros, but I can assure you one thing- as a grownup I know that if I do not have the money to spend, it has to be cut. Period! This is the RESPONSBILE thing to do!

So, now, Mr. President- it’s time for YOU and ALL the other elected leaders in Washington to ACT like grownups! Be responsible! If not, then all of Washington can shut down! It makes no difference to me! It’s obvious that Washington “up and running” is not solving the problems our nation faces, so let’s try something different for a change! Whatdayasay, Mr. President? Mr. Reid? Are you ready to act like grownups yet?
