Almost forgotten within the whirlwind of last week&#8217;s columns and news stories covering the Obama Administration&#8217;s scandals was a piece from <i>The New York Times</i> discussing the “<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/16/us/politics/new-controversies-may-undermine-obama.html?pagewanted=all&amp;_r=0">onset of woes</a>” he&#8217;s had to deal with. Various aides told <i>The Times</i> on, and off, the record how the President is doing all he can to make sure his second term agenda gets accomplished. They also mentioned how Obama is frustrated and “exasperated “with Washington, something which isn&#8217;t new to anyone who&#8217;s watched one of his news conferences.</p>
<p>The most telling comment in the piece is how Obama has talked about “going Bulworth” and just saying what he actually thinks. This is a reference to the Warren Beatty/Halle Berry <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulworth">film</a> about a California senator who decides to tell everyone what he believes, no matter the consequences. <i>The New York Post</i> has <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/obama_admits_he_socialist_pW7TL907rIGq7SyJCYLBoN?utm_source=SFnewyorkpost&amp;utm_medium=SFnewyorkpost">taken</a> it to mean Obama wants to come out and admit he&#8217;s a socialist, which the Bulworth character is. This could be true, but it also reveals a problem with our political system.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Politicians have a problem with being 100-percent honest. Big surprise, but a David Axelrod quote following the Bulworth revelation is even more telling. Axelrod told <i>The Times</i>, “But the reality is that while you want to be truthful, you want to be straightforward, you also want to be practical about whatever you’re saying.”</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">It&#8217;s not that politicians can&#8217;t tell the truth, it&#8217;s that they don&#8217;t think the public <i>wants</i> to know the truth.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The sad part is&#8230;they&#8217;re probably right.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">More people would rather be told that things are “going to be okay,” instead of hearing the horrific reality of the situation.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The 2012 election is a perfect example of this. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were vilified for <a href="http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/22/romney-emphasizes-16-trillion-debt-as-national-security-threat-video/">discussing</a> the nation&#8217;s $16-trillion in debt. Columnists like Paul Krugman <a href="http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/10/12/on-the-non-burden-of-debt/">claimed</a> the nation&#8217;s debt isn&#8217;t an issue, while Obama <a href="http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/18/obama_on_debt_we_dont_have_to_worry_about_it_short_term.html">told</a> David Letterman “we don&#8217;t have to worry about it short term.” Letterman asked only one follow up but that shouldn&#8217;t be surprising. He&#8217;s not Jake Tapper.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">When Romney spoke his mind in the “infamous” <a href="http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/09/full-transcript-mitt-romney-secret-video">47-percent quote</a>, he was <a href="http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/mitt-romneys-47-percent-secret-comments-celebs-react-2012189">said</a> to “not represent all Americans” and to have “written off half the nation.” Obama, again, <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2012/09/18/on-letterman-obama-responds-to-romneys-47-percent-remarks/">told</a> Letterman about how he wanted to represent the “entire country,” but didn&#8217;t talk the substance of Romney&#8217;s quote, why he may have said it or the context.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Guaranteed: more people saw Obama make those comments than any of Romney&#8217;s speeches on the debt.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">However, it&#8217;s not just Romney who was vilified. Ron Paul was <a href="http://www.politico.com/arena/archive/ron-paul-a-dangerous-man-.html">called</a> a “<a href="http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2011/12/union-leader-paul-is-a-dangerous-man-108995.html">dangerous man</a>” for some of his positions. A look at the <a href="http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/republicans/a/Ron-Paul-Jokes.htm">jokes</a> the late night talk show hosts said about Paul, shows they saw him more as a “crazy uncle” and not a real candidate. Now, Paul is a horrible messenger from time to time (see his Chris Kyle tweet and his September 11<sup>th</sup> comment) but he&#8217;s at least willing to speak his mind and tell the truth. Something refreshing in politics.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">As much as people claim to want the truth, the reality is much different. The truth hurts and people prefer “flowers and sunshine” to reality. There&#8217;s a difference between pointing out problems and solutions, and just telling people it will be okay. This is why politicians use double-speak and seem distance. A majority of people don&#8217;t want reality.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">There is a way for conservatives and libertarians to break through this. Outreach. Real outreach, not the <a href="http://ace.mu.nu/archives/334783.php#334783">failed</a> attempt of Project ORCA by Romney&#8217;s team during 2012. Get out in the community and be with people. See what they experience. Explain to them how freedom and liberty is important and show them how it can make their lives better. Support what <a href="http://www.deneenborelli.com/index.php">Deneen Borelli</a> and <a href="http://newsninja2012.com/#axzz2ToVxvTPY">Wayne Dupree</a> are doing in the Black community and what “<a href="http://www.truethevote.org/">True the Vote</a>” is trying to do with the Hispanic community. Talk to friends. Engage them.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">And keep politicians accountable. It&#8217;s not always pragmatic to change one&#8217;s mind. Sometimes it&#8217;s simply political. Get them to explain why they do what they do. Get them to tell the truth.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">It&#8217;s the only way to prove Axelrod and his ilk wrong.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">And to make sure Bulworth isn&#8217;t “just” a movie but reality.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">President Obama made a very interesting decision on Wednesday by not only appealing to people&#8217;s emotions, but also openly demonizing and mocking the NRA and the U.S. Senate for not passing the Manchin-Toomey plan. It is several tactics defined by Saul Alinsky in “Rules For Radicals.”</p>
<p><a href="http://www.conservativedailynews.com/2013/02/shoot-children-and-youre-the-devil-shoot-cops-and-youre-heralded-as-the-second-coming/guns-2/" rel="attachment wp-att-84182"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-84182" alt="guns" src="http://www.conservativedailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/guns.jpg" width="287" height="176" /></a><br />
The first is openly ridiculing the NRA, gun owners and the Republicans (and Democrats) who voted against the measure. By saying, “&#8230; instead of supporting this compromise, the gun lobby and its allies willfully <b>lied about the bill</b>&#8230;but that didn&#8217;t matter. And unfortunately, this <b>pattern of spreading untruths</b> about this legislation served a purpose, because those lies upset an intense minority of gun owners, and that in turn intimidated a lot of senators<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="text-decoration: none;"><span style="background: #ffffff;"> (emphasis mine).</span></span></span>”</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Obama is trying to put the NRA, the GOP and gun owners into a box. It&#8217;s an attempt to make them &#8216;the bad guy,&#8217; and out of the mainstream. He does this again with the, “90 percent of Americans want background checks.”</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">This doesn&#8217;t tell the entire truth. There are <a href="http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=1847">several</a> <a href="http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=1871">Quinnipiac</a> <a href="http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=1877">polls</a> showing 90 percent surveyed want background checks, but the question is too simple. The survey doesn&#8217;t say <i>who</i> should be doing the checks, whether it was national, state or local. It simply asks whether background checks should be done. This is an important distinction supporters of gun control bills aren&#8217;t discussing.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">However, gun rights advocates haven&#8217;t explained this. They are instead going on the defensive, which is what Obama hoped. The NRA is only <a href="http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/news-from-nra-ila/2013/4/letter-from-nra-institute-for-legislative-action-executive-director-chris-cox-to-the-united-states-senate-on-background-checks.aspx">using</a> the “background checks will do nothing to stop crime,”strategy and raising fears about a national gun registry. These are valid concerns, but won&#8217;t work long-term because people will get tired of hearing it. As Alinsky says, “A tactic that drags on too long, becomes a drag.”</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">It&#8217;s also helping Obama marginalize them even further. The President can now use another Alinsky rule of, “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Obama can now bring out legitimately hurting families, like those in Newtown and Aurora, to have them push gun control. This tactic puts a face on those who have suffered in horrific tragedies. It makes it easier for the President to point at the NRA and say, “these people are keeping children from being safe.”</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">However, there are ways to use the personalization <i><b>for</b></i> gun rights. The best way to do this is bring out the Lone Star College student, who <a href="http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/10/lone-star-community-college-students-we-should-be-allowed-to-have-guns-on-campus/">said</a> on live TV, he wished he could have been armed when someone stabbed 14 people. Or have 15-year-old <a href="http://youtu.be/L_-N9_tnWBo">Sarah Merkle</a> talk about gun rights. Or <a href="http://hotair.com/archives/2013/04/08/emotional-newtown-dad-we-dont-need-new-gun-laws/">Mark Mattioli</a> who lost his young son at Sandy Hook discuss why new gun laws won&#8217;t work. These can be effective push backs against Obama.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Obama isn&#8217;t going to back off on the push for gun control. While his original attack may have gotten an alternative he was looking for in the Toomey-Manchin plan, that thankfully failed. He, along with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, are going to come up with new plans.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The NRA and gun rights supporters need to come up with their own plan, using new tactics, to beat it off. Encouraging people to the ballot box is one thing. TV and radio spots work as well. However, it&#8217;s important for gun rights supporters to remember to use Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to get the word out.</p>

<p>It’s remarkable that the political party allegedly joined at the hip with Big Business has such an incredible problem with a basic operational task like marketing. Somehow when it came time to divvy up the commercial sector, the Republicans got all the boring accountants, while the Democrats scooped up all the cool art directors.</p>
<p>Confining Republican outreach efforts to shareholder annual meetings and Daughters of the American Revolution gatherings is obviously not working. We’re going to have to get a “twitter” and compose some “twits” er, “tweets” if the GOP intends to become the happenin’ party.</p>
<p>Fortunately, great minds are at work on this project and they have arrived at a solution. Over the next few years the GOP will be including up a storm. According to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, the party will be establishing “swearing–in citizenship teams” to approach the newly naturalized with the new, improved GOP message.</p>
<p>I have this mental picture of first contact that’s a combination of ‘The Andromeda Strain’ and ‘Alien’ but I’m sure that’s too harsh. No doubt the teams will be so earnest they squeak when they walk and they will have memorized an “elevator speech” for new citizens who get within range. Assuming Organizing for America and the SNAP people have not hogged all the good tables at the accompanying trade show.</p>
<p>But that’s not all, this “not your grumpy old man’s GOP” will also reach out to minorities who didn’t get here by crossing a river. Priebus says, “We will talk regularly and openly with groups with which we’ve had minimal contact in the past: LULAC, the Urban League, the NAACP, NALEO, La Raza. And we will take our message to college campuses, with an especially strong focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.” And I suppose if the communists were still around, Republicans would have coffee with the KGB.</p>
<p>What he expects to accomplish by reaching out to the already convinced remains to be seen. I don’t recall being approached by a Honda salesman as I drove off the lot in my new Infiniti. A more useful approach to me would be contacting minority homeowners in suburban neighborhoods that are mixed racially and politically. Your chances of finding an open mind are vastly greater there than at the NAACP or Urban League.</p>
<p>Still, even if you find an open mind, there is the problem of party beliefs that are still a source of embarrassment to many in GOP leadership.</p>
<p>Which is why Priebus’ handpicked committee has come up with a solution. All national Republicans have to do to achieve presidential success is become Democrats, or more specifically Southern Democrats, since we won’t agree to spend as much money as the Yankee Dems.</p>
<p>And current or holdover members of the GOP base will be permitted to retain some conservative social views, but we are urged to avoid discussing our feelings in polite company or any gathering that includes representatives of the news media.</p>
<p>It’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” applied to an entirely different demographic group.</p>
<p>Specifically, the Priebus group claims it is “not a policy committee” and then recommends “comprehensive immigration reform,” which is code terminology for amnesty; and a change in “issues involving the treatment and the rights of gays,” which is code for quit criticizing Adam and Steve if they want to get “married.”</p>
<p>This is beyond strange. NRC big thinkers want the party to work hard to accommodate the views of two demographic groups that have no interest in voting for us so we will what? Get kinder treatment on MSNBC? Meanwhile the people composing the base of the party are alienated by their betters.</p>
<p>Undocumented Democrats are not going to vote Republican after receiving amnesty. You can get the details <a href="http://michaelshannon.wordpress.com/2012/11/15/republicans-advocate-surrender-after-defeat/">here</a>. And homosexuals are not going to give up the best tables at trendy restaurants so they can break bread with Ralph Reed at CPAC. And speaking of Ralph, who is the founder of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, he takes a dim view of the report, <b>“</b>If the Republican party tries to retreat from being a pro-marriage, pro-family party, the big tent is going to become a pup tent very fast.&#8221; And he adds, &#8220;I am concerned that some in the party are going wobbly on this issue,” which is putting it mildly.</p>
<p>As for amnesty, a Washington Post/ABC poll found that Republican party members opposed amnesty by a margin of 60 to 35 percent, with 5 percent refusing to answer since the question was not in Spanish.</p>
<p>Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, proposes to hit the GOP where it hurts when he says, “&#8221;I would not give my money to the national party, to the national Republican Party. I would not give it to the RNC, I would not give it to the Republican Senatorial Committee nor to the Republican Congressional Committee,&#8221; which pretty much covers all the bases.</p>
<p>Good advice, particularly when you consider the recent lawsuit filed over entertainment problems in connection with last summer’s Republican National Convention.</p>
<p>Now I’m not referring to the run–of–the–mill lawsuit involving some rookie advance man who plays an unauthorized version of In–A–Gadda–Da–Vida at a rally to get the crowd fired up. (Usually the 17–minute album version, since even the most ancient, establishment Republican officeholder can shuffle up to the stage in that length of time.)</p>
<p>When Tom Petty or Heart or John Mellencamp demands a GOP candidate stop using their song, it’s not necessarily due to a disagreement on the issues. (Buying weed has taught them all about the free market and specifically the theory of supply &amp; demand.) It’s because they know if the public starts associating their music with the accountant party, instead of the art directors, any hope of a revival tour will dry up.</p>
<p>No, I’m referring to the lawsuit that reveals the people in charge of entertainment at the convention offered Lady Gaga $1 million to perform.</p>
<p>For those readers who still miss Anita Bryant and may not be up to speed on Gaga, here is a brief rundown of her background. She’s a homosexual activist who supports homosexual marriage, the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” enjoys performing in her underwear before large crowds and appears in blasphemous music videos.</p>
<p>And if that wasn’t enough, she thinks the rich don’t pay enough taxes!</p>
<p>There is no tactful way to say this. These people are idiots and have no idea what they are doing. Money given to them is by definition wasted. Even if by some stroke of misfortune Gaga had agreed to appear, there is no telling what she would have done once she was on stage.</p>
<p>That would have been a real two–fer: national laughingstock and object of scorn by the delegates. Besides convention delegates don’t go to hear Lawrence Welk or Wendy O. Williams. They go for the privilege of waiting in security lines, sitting on uncomfortable chairs, wearing silly hats, listening to obscure arguments and being bored by long–winded speakers.</p>
<p>Besides the panic currently being experienced by national GOP leadership is misplaced. As Michael Medved has helpfully pointed out the Republican vote among 18 to 29 year olds increased to 37 percent, a significant boost from 2008’s 32 percent. Voters under 30 of the white persuasion went for Romney over Obama by a strong 7 percentage points. It was minority Obama generating sympathy and solidarity among minority youth that won him that demographic’s vote. A situation unlikely to be repeated when the white brothers: Hillary or Joe, run in 2016.</p>
<p>Finally, if simple outreach and individual contact is the root of the problem, why don’t we try marketing the existing recipe before we start tinkering with the product?</p>
<p>Meanwhile, if Chairman Priebus wants to generate excitement and attract more and trendier youth to GOP conventions, do what they do in Trinidad: Serve rum backed with plenty of drums.</p>

They couldn&#8217;t afford to, even on their Congressional pay and perks. <p>This is no joke. That&#8217;s the only reason I don&#8217;t parody this lamebrain administration&#8217;s unconscionable thuggary-theft of taxpayer money more. You need to read this linked article and make time for its video. Until then this will only get worse. GOP Old Guard Republicans are no better. They&#8217;re lovin&#8217; it just as much. All on the backs of our labors (or entitlement program cut, whatever your case may be &#8211; it DOES effect <em>you</em>). Stop it or stop whining.</p>
<p>Contact your legislator today. Tell them to stop this gross spending as they deprive taxpayers who&#8217;re paying their overly extravagant bills. If not you, who? <p>The 40<sup>th</sup> annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held this week in National Harbor, just across the river from Washington, DC, did not appear to be a depressed gathering of Republicans and conservatives still reeling from last November’s presidential loss. There was friendly rivalry between supporters of Sen. Rand Paul (R–KY) and Sen. Marco Rubio (R–FL), but I saw no evidence of divisive infighting and vicious internal attempts to gain mainstream media publicity at the expense of fellow party members.</p>
<p>But then again an impressive contingent of off–duty police officers was probably more than enough to keep John McCain and Lindsey Graham from attending the conference.</p>
<p>The opening day of CPAC 2013 evolved into a faceoff between two potential Republican presidential candidates: the aforementioned Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.</p>
<p>Judging by the crowd’s reception, Paul was the winner.</p>
<p>Rubio — America’s foremost spokesman for regular hydration — did not address immigration, the issue he’s been most associated with this year. Instead the bulk of Rubio’s speech, once we got past the H2O jokes, was fairly standard — although he did touch on the call for a remodeled Republican party.</p>
<p>Rubio said the goal of the Republican Party should be to “create an agenda to apply our time–tested principles to the challenges of today” because average Americans are asking, “who is fighting for them?”</p>
<p>Specifically, Rubio believes the US should be the best place in the world to create middle–class jobs and to facilitate that the country must solve the federal government’s debt and spending problem. Republicans should stress pro–growth energy policies that include both oil and gas. On the home front, he wants every parent to have an opportunity to send their children to “the school of their choice.” And we need real heath care reform that empowers Americans so they can buy insurance from any company, regardless of where the company is headquartered.</p>
<p>The young senator also addressed leftist critics and predicted they will downplay his speech and claim that he didn’t offer any new ideas. “We don’t need a new idea. The idea is called America and it still works,” Rubio responded as the audience applauded.</p>
<p>It would have been the best conservative speech of the day, if Rand Paul had not made an appearance.</p>
<p>It was a standing–room only crowd that anticipated Paul’s appearance and it erupted in applause as he brandished the binders he used during his drone filibuster in the Senate and declared, “I was told I only had ten measly minutes, but just in case I brought 13 hours worth of information.”</p>
<p>Paul — who gives hope to the curly–haired since no one will ever call him ‘blow dried’ — began by explaining that the motivation for his filibuster was to question whether presidential power has limits: “We want to know will you or won’t you defend the Constitution?”</p>
<p>As an audience member called out, “Don’t drone me, bro!” Paul explained that the president’s good intentions are not enough. “No one person gets to decide the law,” he said. And that’s his philosophy in a nutshell: leaders must defend and abide by the Constitution even when it’s not convenient.</p>
<p>Paul then moved to compare his conservative philosophy with that of Obama’s, which has proven to be you can have your cake and eat your neighbor’s, too. He quoted Ronald Reagan who said, “As government expands, liberty contracts.”</p>
<p>With that in mind he proposed a five–year plan to balance the budget. Paul’s blueprint cuts the corporate income tax in half, creates a flat personal income tax of 17.5 percent, erases the regulations “strangling American business” and eliminates the Department of Education entirely giving the power and the money back to the states.</p>
<p>Paul observed without mentioning names that the GOP “of old has grown stale and moss–covered.” His new GOP will need a big tent because it will “embrace economic and personal liberty. Liberty needs to be the backbone of the Republican Party and I ask everyone who values liberty to stand with me.”</p>
<p>And the crowd did, giving him a standing ovation that easily eclipsed the response to Rubio’s earlier speech.</p>

<p>“They were elected, nobody believes that there was a corrupt election, anything else…But I also think that when, you know, it’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone,” said McCain.</p>
<p>When pressed for clarification on who the wackos are, McCain responded “Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever.”</p>

<p>It seems like just yesterday that McCain was relishing his role as maverick, while using the megaphone provided him by the media to gain the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.</p>
<p>Some Republicans, led by McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham (R, SC), worry that the filibuster, which focused lots of positive attention on Paul, might end up reflecting poorly on the party.</p>
<p>Might these be the same Republicans who nominated Gerald Ford in 1976, sought to nominate John Connally or George H.W. Bush while opposing Ronald Reagan in 1980, nominated Bob Dole, John McCain and Mitt Romney?</p>
<p>Clearly, the most successful nominee in that bunch was the most Conservative: Reagan.  That the GOP continues to cling to the notion that presidential electoral success hinges on nominating the most moderate candidate largely explains their lack of recent success.</p>
<p>To his credit, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who may prove to fit into the Conservative new blood category, described the filibuster as “completely awesome.”</p>
<p>Meanwhile, in a radio interview with former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Paul responded to McCain: “You know, I think he’s just on the wrong side of history, and on the wrong side of this argument, really.”</p>
<p>Paul continued by saying he respects both McCain’s military service and his legislative record, but stressed that McCain’s experience does not mean he is always right: “I treat Senator McCain with respect. I don’t think I always get the same in return.”</p>
<p>Americans on both sides of the aisle honor McCain for his service.  However, McCain must realize that it is time to pass the torch of leadership to a new generation of Conservative leaders demonstrably capable of filling his seemingly vacated role as maverick while leading Republicans to electoral victory.</p>

Darrell Issa</p></div>Darrell Issa (R-CA), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, is investigating whether or not an IRS employee&#8217;s personal relationship with the owner of a computer company led to the awarding of government contracts worth nearly $500 million.</p>
<p>The Congressman <a href="http://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/DEi-to-Wolin.pdf" target="_blank">sent a letter</a> to acting Treasury Secretary Neal S. Wolin, seeking information about a relationship between an unnamed IRS employee and the owner of Signet Computers Inc., Braulio Castillo. Throughout the letter sent by the Committee Chairman, the name of the IRS employee in question is blacked out.  </p>

<p>The document also alleges that Signet Computers may have lied to the Small Business Administration (SBA), as well, in order to make it easier for the company to get federal contracts. Also, in 2012, Issa writes that the company changed its name multiple times, potentially to avoid additional scrutiny from the SBA.  Investigators have determined from witnesses that Signet Computers, Inc. is also known as Strong Castle, Inc. and Strong Castle, LLC; all owned by Castillo and sharing the same business address and website.</p>
<p>The Committee is requesting a series of documents to be turned over by 5:00pm on March 6th.  These include the following:</p>

<p>According to the letter, a whistleblower contacted the Office of The Treasury Inspector General in August of 2012 with evidence that the unnamed IRS employee improperly awarded contracts to Mr. Castillo and Signet Computers Inc.  The whistleblower&#8217;s evidence also showed that Signet Computers also obtained various certifications in an improper manner.  Chairman Issa&#8217;s letter also states that a second whistleblower contacted the SBA in January of 2013 with the same concerns that were highlighted in August of 2012.</p>
<p>Issa states in the letter that &#8220;At best we have a conflict of interest&#8221;, but also highlights the alternative by saying, &#8220;At worst, the IRS may have a situation in which a contracting official is awarding sole source contracts based on false justifications or receiving kickbacks in exchange for government contracts.&#8221;</p>

In it, he tried to outline a foreign policy vision that is a departure from the foreign policy that has been offered for more than a decade by the GOP. Also in the speech, he tried to distance himself from his father, Ron Paul&#8217;s, more radical non-interventionist views. Predictably, both neoconservatives and libertarian non-interventionists were not pleased with the speech. However, Senator Paul&#8217;s speech may open up a path for Republicans and conservatives to regain lost credibility on foreign policy and national security issues and tie it into the larger issues of debt and spending.</p>
<p>Senator Paul began the <a href="http://www.campaignforliberty.org/national-blog/rand-pauls-foreign-policy-speech/">speech</a> with this.</p>
<blockquote><p><em> I see the world as it is.   I am a realist, not a neoconservative, nor an isolationist.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>That sentence largely defines what Paul&#8217;s policy is. Traditional conservative realism as oppose to the alternatives of neoconservative hyper-interventionism and quasi-isolationist noninterventionism. A third way that is skeptical of intervention while at the same time engaged and active in the world.</p>
<p>Senator Paul also did something very few American politicians have done since 9/11, have a frank discussion with the American people about radical Islam.</p>
<blockquote><p><em>The West is in for a long, irregular confrontation not with terrorism, which is simply a tactic, but with Radical Islam.</em></p>
<p>As many are quick to note, the war is not with Islam but with a radical element of Islam  — the problem is that this element is no small minority but a vibrant, often mainstream, vocal and numerous minority.  Whole countries, such as Saudi Arabia, adhere to at least certain radical concepts such as the death penalty for blasphemy, conversion, or apostasy.  A survey in Britain after the subway bombings showed 20% of the Muslim population in Britain approved of the violence.</p>
<p>Some libertarians argue that western occupation fans the flames of radical Islam – I agree.  But I don’t agree that absent western occupation that radical Islam “goes quietly into that good night.”  I don’t agree with FDR’s VP Henry Wallace that the Soviets (or Radical Islam in today’s case) can be discouraged by “the glad hand and the winning smile.”Americans need to understand that Islam has a long and perseverant memory.</p>
<p>As Bernard Lewis writes, “despite an immense investment in the teaching and writing of history, the general level of historical knowledge in American society is abysmally low.  The Muslim peoples, like everyone else in the world, are shaped by their history, but unlike some others, they are keenly aware of it.”Radical Islam is no fleeting fad but a relentless force. Though at times stateless, Radical Islam is also supported by radicalized nations such as Iran.   Though often militarily weak, Radical Islam makes up for its lack of conventional armies with unlimited zeal.</p>
<p>For Americans to grasp the mindset of Radical Islam we need to understand that they are still hopping mad about the massacre at Karbala several hundred years ago.  Meanwhile, many Americans seem to be more concerned with who is winning ‘Dancing with the Stars.’</p></blockquote>
<p>Illiberal Islamic radicalism is more prevalent in the Islamic world than most Westerners believe. After all a few years ago, a Muslim United States Army major killed many of his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood in the name of jihad. There is no way the neoconservative vision of spreading democracy by force could ever take root in such an illiberal society.</p>
<p>Senator Paul opined about Iran, again trying to strike a middle ground. He explained that he supported sanctions as an attempt to restart diplomacy, but he was not sold on a military option to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.</p>
<blockquote><p><em> No one, myself included,  wants to see a nuclear Iran.   Iran does need to know that all options are on the table.  But we should not pre-emptively announce that diplomacy or containment will never be an option.</em></p></blockquote>

<p>Senator Paul is correct here. Strategic ambiguity is the best policy in regards to Iran. By stating that the United States will go to war to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons will likely accelerate Iran&#8217;s quest to acquire them as a means of deterrence. Also, one of the best arguments the Iranians have for acquiring nuclear is what happened in Libya. After the Iraq War, then Libyan dictator Gaddafi agreed to end his weapons of mass destruction program in exchange for not being removed from power. In 2011, our glorious Dear Ruler, Caesar Barackius the Magnificent, decided to remove Gaddafi from power because he disapproved of his crackdown on Al-Qaeda aligned rebels. Why would anyone trust any security assurances the United States gives in exchange for ending a weapons of mass destruction program?</p>
<p>Senator Paul also did something most American politicians absolutely refuse to do, comment on the plight of Arab Christians.</p>
<blockquote><p><em> Likewise, today’s “Truman” caucus wants boots on the ground and weapons in the hands of freedom fighters everywhere, including Syrian rebels.  Perhaps, we might want to ask the opinion of the one million Syrian Christians, many of whom fled Iraq when our Shiite allies were installed.  Perhaps, we might want to ask:   will the Syrian rebels respect the rights of Christians, women, and other ethnic minorities?</em></p></blockquote>
<p>Arab Christians have not fared well under the neocon vision of bringing democracy to the Islamic world. From Egypt to Palestine, the persecution of Arab Christians is on the rise at the hands of these new Islamic &#8220;democratic&#8221; governments. What most neocons do not understand is that democracy is more than just having elections, its about having a pluralistic society that can respect differences of opinion and lifestyle.</p>
<p>Finally, Senator Paul opines about how Congress has failed at its job of oversight over the Executive Branch.</p>
<blockquote><p><em> Since the Korean War, Congress has ignored its responsibility to restrain the President. Congress has abdicated its role in declaring war</em></p></blockquote>
<p>Congress not restraining the Executive Branch is why Dear Ruler can arrogantly maintain a kill list of Americans he believes he can order killed with no oversight at all. Our liberties have suffered as a result and it is also worth noting that the United States has only had one decisive military victory, the first Gulf War, since World War II.</p>
<p>Overall, Senator Paul outlined a vision of a restrained foreign policy with a suspicion of foreign intervention, Congressional oversight as required by the Constitution, and in line with the realities of a nation deeply in debt and with a weak economy. It also provides a more realistic alternative to the neocon vision of spreading democracy to the Islamic world. It is also a more conservative alternative in acknowledging that we have to take the world as it is and that we can impose a utopian ideal in Western-style democracy in an illiberal culture such as the Arab World. Where at the same time, it maintains the conservative commitment to a strong national defense instead of being the policeman of the world that neocons and leftists would like America to be.</p>
<p>In the political arena, this is a foreign policy that can help regain the credibility with the American people that the Republican Party lost in the sands of Iraq. It signals that the era of perpetual war against a vague enemy is over. This would help reassure the American people that their son and daughters will not be sacrificed casually.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Speaker Boehner and Senate Republican Leader McConnell announced today that Senator Marco Rubio would be giving the Republican Address in response to the State of the Nation on February 12. This is the first time the young senator will take the national stage representing the conservative party.</p>
<p>Senator Rubio, now in his third year in the U.S. Senate, has been a champion of growing the American middle class through limited government and free enterprise policies, making him a natural choice to outline why the Republican vision can help Americans rise above their current circumstances in the Obama economy.</p>
<blockquote><p><em>“Marco Rubio is one of our party’s most dynamic and inspiring leaders. He carries our party’s banner of freedom, opportunity and prosperity in a way few others can. His family’s story is a testament to the promise and greatness of America,” </em><strong>said</strong> <strong>Speaker Boehner.</strong><em>  “He’ll deliver a GOP address that speaks from the heart to the hopes and dreams of the middle class; to our party’s commitment to life and liberty; and to the unlimited potential of America when government is limited and effective.”</em></p>

<p>The address will be delivered in both English and Spanish and comes the same week that TIME Magazine will feature the Florida senator on their cover.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I attended a town hall meeting in Claremore on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 featuring Markwayne Mullin, the newly elected congressman from Oklahoma’s 2nd District. Some of his statements sounded strange coming from <img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-83017" alt="Markwayne Mullin" src="http://www.conservativedailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Markwayne-Mullin2-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" />a “conservative” but one response to a question bothered me more than the rest.</p>
<p>A man asked Mullin about the executive orders being used by Barack Obama to by-pass Congress, and what can be done to nullify them. Mullin’s response was that the way to stop an EO was for the House to pass legislation nullifying the order, then send it to the Senate where Dingy Harry Reid would refuse to allow it to be heard. And even if it could be passed by the Senate it would have to go to Obama for his signature.</p>
<p>Mullin asked if anyone thought Obama would undo his own executive order by signing such a bill. And of course the answer is “NO”. His next comment astounded me. Mullin then said, to paraphrase, “what’s the point of going through all that when there is no chance of prevailing?”</p>
<p>Isn’t this just accepting business as usual and admitting he has no say in what goes on in Washington? Isn’t this the same point Hillary Clinton just made about Benghazi, that nothing matters? What difference does anything make in Washington? Why is Mullin there then? He might as well come home and run his plumbing business if he is that impotent in Congress. Why have any of them there if they can only follow the dictates of party “leadership”? Why not just let the Traitor John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Dingy Harry Reid, and Obama make all the decisions and save us the money we spend for Congress and their massive staffs?</p>
<p>I tire of hearing how spineless Republicans are powerless to make any changes in the way the establishment in both parties runs our nation as a dictatorial oligarchy. “We only have one half of one third of government” is the usual whine from Republicans who didn’t do anything to shrink government when they had total control. We the People are told almost daily that “that is how things work in Washington”. Even those we think are conservative don’t take long to tell us there is nothing that can be done to change government.<br />
I wish Mullin would have told me this during the campaign. I might as well have helped his opposition in the primary run-off. I thought supporting George Faught in the Republican run-off would net me the words I am hearing now from the guy I supported and campaigned for.</p>
<p>How are We the People ever going to get the Bald Eagle back as the symbol of the greatest nation in history with this kind of mealy-mouthed garbage coming from those we elect to public office? Party loyalty trumps<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-83020" alt="Liberty Eagle" src="http://www.conservativedailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Liberty-Eagle-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /> loyalty to the Constitution and We the People every time it seems.</p>
<p>I like Mullin, as I got to know him during the campaign, but I hear the same bird crap I heard from his predecessor, Democrat Dan Boren. We change birds in Congress but find the same bird crap falling on our heads after changing the breed of birds.</p>
<p>The problem with changing which party is in control of government is that there isn’t any distinguishable difference in the political parties today. When you look at a pile of horse manure how do you tell if it came from a Republican horse or a Democrat horse? I have often written that John F. Kennedy could not win the nomination for president in the Republican Party today because he would be too conservative. That is a sad state of affairs.</p>
<p>This week Marco Rubio, the non-natural born citizen and presumptive Republican nominee for the 2016 presidential election, became the poster child for the newest “latest and greatest” amnesty scam being foisted upon We the People by the Republican Party establishment. It seems “expanding the Republican tent” means making room for every group but those who have supported the party low these many years since Reagan, the last conservative to sit in the White House. Will Mullin, when faced with voting for amnesty, tell us once again “that is how things are done in Washington” and go on to explain how powerless he is?</p>
<p>The Globalist Oligarchy Party (GOP) has abandoned everything it used to stand for and now embraces the same policies as the Marxist dominated Democrat Party. Liberty is dying in America and there are so few in <img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-83021" alt="republican logo" src="http://www.conservativedailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/republican-logo2-150x150.gif" width="150" height="150" />government willing to stand up for the Constitution and We the People. Unfortunately, Oklahoma is not very well represented in Washington, D. C. (De Cesspool). Five of our six Republican congressmen voted to put the Traitor John Boehner back in the Speaker’s chair in spite of overwhelming opposition to Boehner by We the People of the state.</p>
<p>Changing party affiliation doesn’t change the crap being dropped on our heads so what is the answer? I am looking for the people with the courage to step up and represent my conservative views in government and it won’t happen until we get a 3rd party. True conservatives in both political parties need to leave their bird nest and do something that will benefit America not just their particular set of special interest groups. I though Mullin was one of those but he is proving me wrong.</p>

Wade, the Center For Reproductive Rights has released a YouTube video featuring actor Mehcad Brooks of the USA Network&#8217;s &#8220;Necessary Roughness&#8221; and HBO&#8217;s &#8220;True Blood&#8221;.</p>
<p>Aside from creepy nature of speaking to the Court decision as if it is an actual person, the basic theme, and overall attitude, of the video is one that expresses a profound, unwavering support of the decision by saying &#8220;An anniversary like this is not something you forget, no no no no baby, it is something that you fight for.  That&#8217;s exactly what I&#8217;m going to do, baby.  Fight.  A few of us &#8211; well, actually, a couple hundred thousand of us have chipped in to get you something mighty special, baby.  We&#8217;re gonna be standing by your side today, tomorrow, and the years to come.&#8221;</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t worry, though, the Center For Reproductive Rights injected it&#8217;s backhanded slap to those who oppose the Roe v. Wade decision right from the get-go with the following line:  &#8220;All these years, so many people said we&#8217;d never make it.  They&#8217;ve been trying to tear us apart.  Take you away.  Put limits on you&#8230; on me&#8230; on us.  But every time we&#8217;ve proven ourselves stronger.&#8221;</p>

<p>With the current media circus aimed at gun control, can you imagine if the founding document, our U.S. Constitution, was on trial? Instead of demanding our Constitutional Right, we&#8217;d have to justify why an individual has the right to possess a gun. Many mainstream state politicians and lobbying groups across the nation are applying for a second Constitutional Convention and&#8230;it looks like they may get it.</p>
<p>Americans exercise liberties no individual had experienced prior. In return, the innovations America’s contributed to mankind are unimaginable prior to introduction. This is because our founder’s ingeniously wrote the Constitution establishing a strong but limited government designed to protect our individual rights. Over the years, our government and the protection of our individual rights have eroded. Today, these rights and responsibilities are just as important and just as vulnerable. As these groups pursue an “Article V Convention”, are they looking to abolish our current government and replace it with another?</p>
<blockquote><p>“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”</p></blockquote>

<p>Some organizations and academia want the name of a Constitutional Convention change to something else. ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) is an organization that advises and recruits state legislators across the nation. According to their manual for &#8220;Proposing Constitutional Amendments by a Convention of the States&#8221;,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Other acceptable names for a convention for proposing amendments are amendments convention, convention of the states, and Article V convention. (&#8230;it is inaccurate and misleading to call a convention for proposing amendments a &#8216;constitutional convention&#8221;.)</p></blockquote>
<p>To call an Article V Convention anything but a &#8220;Constitutional Convention&#8221; is misleading. Other than being defeated at war, there are ONLY two ways to amend or alter the Constitution. The first method is the Amendment process which has successfully amended the Constitution 17 times and the other is by Convention. Once Congress calls a Convention according to Article V, there is nothing that can alter its course.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;there is no effective way to limit or muzzle the actions of a Constitutional Convention. The Convention could make its own rules and set its own agenda. Congress might try to limit the Convention to one amendment or to one issue, but there is no way to assure that the Convention would obey. After a Convention is convened it will be too late to stop the Convention if we don&#8217;t like its agenda.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p style="text-align: left;">America’s problem is not an antiquated Constitution but a government that has deviated from it; this includes local, regional and state governments. We cannot fix our government through changing or adding new rules; we need to hold it accountable to the rules already set forth.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Once an Article V Convention begins, what will the Federalist Papers resemble? Our founders wrote Federalist Papers to convince the states in ratifying the Constitution, along with the Bill of Rights. With today’s media, it could easily be made a mockery on CSPAN, MSNBC, CNN or Fox with commentaries of Pierce Morgan, Chris Matthews or Bill O’Reilly moderating the coverage.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">In today’s chaos, our Constitution is our only foundation, it preserves our liberties such as freedom of speech, religion, due process, private property or arms&#8230;just to name a few! Hopefully, you&#8217;ll be prepared to defend these freedoms when it comes for deliberation!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Our Constitution protects our rights as individuals. We, the citizens, are not positioned to defend our Constitutional individual freedoms in such a forum. We have been segregated into false labels so we could easily pick our opponents for trivial stuff.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Imagine our First Amendment’s Five Freedoms, freedom of religion, press, speech, assembly and petition did not exist. What if authorities arrested without charging, search and seized property the State deemed necessary? These fundamental Individual Rights are protected by a federal government established within our Constitution.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">When it comes to our Second Amendment, the massacres of Aurora, Newtown and Ft Hood don&#8217;t hold a candle to the massacres done by dictators’ like Mao Zedong, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. Our founders understood an out-of-control government and attempted to limit it as much as possible. They also understood how special interest could infiltrate it and use it as their weapon.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Once the Constitutional Convention starts, our individual rights will be open for debate. It’s difficult to understand why someone would submit for a Constitutional Convention in these times unless they wish to get rid of our Individual Rights…rights protected by a limited government that may no longer exist. &#8230;Or they may wish for a fundamental transformation of America.</p>

A new Convention could plunge our Nation into constitutional confusion and confrontation at every turn, with no assurance that focus would be on the subject needing attention. I have discouraged the idea of a Constitutional Convention, and I am glad to see states rescinding their previous resolutions requesting a convention.&#8221;</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Hopefully, Americans have not taken our individual liberties for granted to allow bureaucrats, politicians and special interest to take them away. The only way to accomplish this is hard work, petitioning your Representatives and replacing those who do not protect our individual rights.</p>
