Psalm 148

1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights above.
2 Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
3 Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
4 Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the skies.
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for at his command they were created,
6 and he established them for ever and ever—
he issued a decree that will never pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
9 you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
10 wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds,
11 kings of the earth and all nations,
you princes and all rulers on earth,
12 young men and women,
old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn,
the praise of all his faithful servants,
of Israel, the people close to his heart.
Praise the Lord.

It’s Not a War on Christmas

As the season of “peace on Earth, goodwill toward men” goes forward, so too do the disingenuous protests of the secular activist Progressives; protests against anything that might be construed, interpreted and/or seen as the religiously based, existing in the public square, be it the government square or the private-sector square. Many Americans find the objections of these secular Progressive activists to be not only in bad taste, but an assault on reasonable sensibilities and traditions. But to the secular Progressives, this annual “offensive” is a necessity; a “nudge,” if you will. And it has a lot more to do with an overall ideological goal than it does with removing Christ from Christmas.

It is true that, whether you believe Christmas is centered on a celebration of the birth of the Christ Child or not, Christmas is a federally recognized national holiday. Christmas was designated a federal holiday by the United States Congress and President Ulysses S. Grant in 1870, however this only applied to federal employees in Washington DC, the designation expanding, applying to all federal employees in 1968. To this legal end, Christmas is codified. But even before the holiday’s official recognition by the United States government, Christmas was a culturally recognized holiday around the world:

“Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed cultural holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide, which ends after the twelfth night. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world’s nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part (central event) of the Christmas and holiday season.”

Given that the Founders and Framers of the United States of America rooted the entirety of our Founding Documents in the Natural Laws found in the Judeo-Christian philosophy, the recognition of a day designated to celebrate the Alpha and the Omega of this philosophy is not only fitting, but serves to offer up an opportunity to embrace a retrospect of what the root philosophy of all Americans is and should be.

To be sure, the United States is, in fact, a nation of immigrants; a diverse collection of cultures that over time have infused our unique American culture with rich and honored traditions. But, in each of these cultures, as part of each of these traditions, has always been, at their core, a celebration of thanks to the Deity, to God, to a Higher Power over the flawed egos of man. Perhaps that is what makes the traditional season of Christmas one that transcends cultures and languages; lines on a map; and political ideologies…all but for Progressivism’s most zealous.

At the core of turn-of-the-century Progressivism lays the notion that man can be perfected, nay, must be perfected if, in fact, there was to be a “Second Coming.” In an excerpt from The Social Gospel at DiscoverTheNetworks.org, authors, Daniel Flynn and Jonah Goldberg are credited with exposing:

“Flourishing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Social Gospel Movement was a Protestant intellectual phenomenon headed by clergymen who sought to reconcile Christianity with a Progressive social agenda; who saw the state as the instrument by which God could intervene in human affairs and promote the collectivism supposedly advocated by Jesus. This collectivism, said exponents of the Social Gospel, held the keys to the eradication of all manner of societal ills: inequality, alcoholism, crime, racism, poverty, ignorance, exploitation, and violence.

“Whereas Conservative theologians saw redemption and reconciliation strictly as matters between each individual and God, Progressives in the Social Gospel Movement held that redemption could only be achieved collectively, by means of unified, social and political activism. They maintained, moreover, that the Second Coming of Christ could not occur until humankind had eliminated all social evils by means of such activism. One notable mouthpiece of the Social Gospel was the Baptist minister and theologian Walter Rauschenbush, who said: ‘Individualism means tyranny.’”

Today, with the injection of hyper-secularism into Progressivism, an almost atheistic tenet has taken hold of the modern Progressive Movement. 21st Century Progressives (or modern day Progressives) are more inclined to believe that man – not a Higher Power, a Deity; not God – is the issuer of rights; that the rights we enjoy not only as Americans, but as “citizens of the world,” are derived from governments and not from Natural Law; from elitist oligarchs and bureaucratic experts and not by Intelligent Design.

So it is that modern Progressives need to expunge the idea of a higher power from the American (and, in fact the world) lexicon. If the idea of God, or Deity or Higher Power is to exist, then the authorities of man to establish right from wrong, good from bad, normal from abnormal, tolerance from intolerance, can always – always – be questioned. If the elitist oligarchs of the modern day Progressive Movement are to assume complete control; complete authority to execute social justice, economic justice and redefine the many ideas of equality, then they must dispense with the idea that they – themselves – are not at the top of the power pyramid; at the top of the intellectual “food chain.” The only way to do this is to eliminate the idea of the Higher Power; the Deity; God.

When one understands the need for secular Progressives to directly attack the idea of God; of Christ as the Son of God, it makes sense to take the fight to the opposition on their home turf, in this instance, Christians and Christmas (although Easter is actually the holiest day in the Catholic/Christian faith).

By playing on emotions – the most potent tool in the Progressive arsenal – and painting those who hold true to their religious beliefs as being “un-inclusive,” “intolerant of others,” and “insensitive” for their wont that Christmas include the idea of the Christ Child, Christianity and Judeo-Christian ethos, i.e. The Nativity in the public square; Christmas Carols that feature Christian lyrics; and even merchants saying the salutation “Merry Christmas” for its root word of “Christ,” Progressives aim to “shame” the truly tolerant and inclusive (any true understanding of Christianity reveals that Christians, and not Progressives, are the truly tolerant and inclusive). By shaming or making the majority of Americans “uncomfortable” for the accusations of intolerance and insensitivity, Progressives aim to force an abdication of traditional American values and beliefs. In doing so they inch closer to their goal of expunging the notion of Natural Law from the societal and then governmental lexicons, successfully achieving elitist, oligarchic and totalitarian control over the defining of rights, the common good, and the role of government in our lives.

To wit, this is not a “war on Christmas,” as Bill O’Reilly would say. This is a war on the very notion of the existence of God.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

“Duck Dynasty” Stars Join Cast Of Faith Based Film

duck_dynasty“Duck Dynasty’s” Willie and Korie Robertson Join Cast Members Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain and Shane Harper for Faith Based Film

SCOTTSDALE, Az., Dec. 10, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ — Pure Flix Entertainment announces the release of the film GOD’S NOT DEAD on over 600 screens nationally March 21, 2014 through Freestyle Releasing.

“The trailer has been viewed by 4.8 million people and we’ve generated 230,000 fans on Facebook — about ten times the social media numbers for other films in this genre at this point before release,” said Russell Wolfe, CEO of Pure Flix Entertainment. “With over 1,100 requests from churches for group tickets, we attribute this interest to the film’s topic as well as our outstanding cast, which includes Willie and Korie Robertson of ‘Duck Dynasty.'”

Beyond the film, there is renewed interest in the music and book properties associated with the movie. The film’s title, “GOD’S NOT DEAD,” was inspired by award-winning recording artists Newboys’ track of the same name. Released almost two years ago it has surged once again and recently hit #3 on the iTunes Christian music chart and is featured prominently in the movie. The band also makes an appearance in the film.

Rice Broocks, pastor of Bethel World Outreach in Brentwood, Tennessee, and co-founder of Every Nation, a world-wide association of churches, is the author of the book God’s Not Dead which recently also enjoyed a resurgence of popularity on Amazon.com. Broocks believes the film may spark a movement. “GOD’S NOT DEAD is a rallying cry for churches to equip and encourage believers to reach non-believers with the Gospel. It provides reasons to believe and confidence to take a stand for Christ in an increasingly secular society.”

The film features a star-studded cast, reality stars and musicians including Kevin Sorbo (“Soul Surfer,” “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”), Shane Harper (“High School Musical 2,” “Flipped”), David A.R. White (“Six: The Mark Unleashed”) and Dean Cain (“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”), with special appearances by Newsboys, and Willie and Korie Robertson of the smash TV series “Duck Dynasty.” The film is rated PG.

In GOD’S NOT DEAD, college freshman and devout Christian Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper) finds his faith challenged by a dogmatic and argumentative philosophy professor (Kevin Sorbo) who requires his students to disavow the existence of God on the first day of class or face a failing grade. Josh finds himself having to choose between his faith and his future. Can he fight for what he believes? Can he prove the existence of God?

Equality for Everyone? Not quite!

Ever read or hear about the book “Men Are From Mars, Woman Are From Venus”? I haven’t actually read it, but I have heard from enough people to have a basic grasp of the premise. It basically lays out the differences between the sexes and how they complement each other. The book explains how to work from within those differences to live a great life together. It talks about the differences in the way each feel value. Men need to feel respected in order to accept the love from his wife and women need to know they are loved to give themselves totally into the relationship. Equal needs expressed in different ways coming together to make for a great relationship.

Pretty simple, equality. So let’s add some sand to this well-oiled machine. The book was written 21 years ago. How times have changed. In order for real equality to be served, we need an updated, “Men Are From Mars and Other Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus and, Well, Other Woman Are From Venus”.

The original booked was hailed as a great work that helped millions of couples, but according to today’s “equalists” the book is useless. The premise of the book is how to get the opposite sexes to relate to one another the way nature intended. How not to see the differences as impediments but as catalysts to make the relationship more solid and how you have to have the differences for the relationship to flourish. How does this work in a same sex relationship? The original book falls apart and becomes useless. Is nature confused? Are we confused? I say we are!

Recently, a man was charged with murder for giving his girlfriend a drug that caused her to have an abortion. She didn’t want to have one and told him she would raise the child alone, he didn’t need to be involved financially or physically. He didn’t want a child, nor did he want her to have it. If the tables were turned and she didn’t want it but he did and she had the abortion against his will, no murder charges would have been filed there.
Just to summarize, it’s a life if he objects to it and chooses to abort, but it’s a blob of cells if she objects and chooses to abort. Equality? And the, “it’s her body” argument doesn’t hold up because it’s the baby’s body to! You can’t have it both ways.

Recently, a young man was told he could not pray at the end of the commencement ceremony because one parent complained citing that they were at a public ceremony paid for by tax dollars. He agreed not to pray. However, a few sentences into the speech he started to recite the Lord’s Prayer and, to the surprise of that one parent, an overwhelming majority of the students joined in and recited with him!
The prayer ended to thunderous applause and 99% percent were quite happy. When the voice of one person outweighs the desire of the community as a whole is that Equality? I think not.

A New Hampshire high school graduate and recent boot camp graduate was barred from wearing his Marine Corps uniform in lieu of the traditional cap and gown. The young man had worked hard to make sure he had his credits done in time to leave early to go to boot camp, pass boot camp and get back for graduation. The school board, in my opinion, made a terrible mistake not allowing him to do so. No reward for his hard work. However, if he was a transvestite, would they have allowed him to dress as a woman, wear the female gown, wig, high heels, and so on? I have seen some graduations where the rainbow colors were worn as a scarf or the gown itself. And this is Equality? How?

Finally, based on a report by Britain’s Department for Education and Skills some schools are no longer teaching about the Holocaust in history lessons so as not to offend Muslim students. The report, titled “Teaching Emotive and Controversial History”, also notes that teachers don’t lessons covering The Crusades because it contradicts what is taught in local mosques.

Truth is truth. Why are they altering history? History is not always comfortable. In fact, it’s often ugly.
But it’s also important not to forget it.

The Muslims (like the Christians) went around in The Crusades and massacred people who would not convert. It’s true! It really happened. Millions of Jews were killed in the Holocaust. It’s true, and the fact that you’re offended doesn’t make it any less true. In this case, they don’t want to offend Muslims, but accommodating Muslims, they offend the Jews. Equality? I think not.

It seems that equality is what some people (usually those on the political left) deem it to be
and everyone else can, well, go pound sand!

And so I say, equality for everyone, not quite!

Is God Mad?

What have the people of Oklahoma done to make God so mad? Nothing.

My heart goes out to all those who were affected by the tornadoes in Oklahoma and the Midwest. I can’t even imagine what it would be like.

Here in California, we have earthquakes. When we have an earthquake, it’s bad. People die, lose their homes, and more. But in most cases, we can look through the rubble, find pictures and grab some “keepsakes.” In a tornado, where do you start? What do you do when you come back to where your home used to be, only to find a cement slab? Where do you look for pictures, furniture and other items? Do you start five miles away? Ten miles? Do you even bother to look?

It’s heartbreaking. These people have to start over again. Our hearts and prayers go out to them.

With that in mind, don’t you become a victim. I’ve received many emails asking me to give to those in need.

Sure, just click on the link attached, and get screwed.

Many of us would be on site helping if we were close by, but we’re not. The next best thing is to send money. It’s easy to send electronically with the click of a button. Please don’t get sucked in. Stay with known entities: the Red Cross, United Way, and so on.

Several of the local media outlets are listing reputable organizations. Check them out. And don’t send “stuff.” They are begging for people to send money because they have store “stuff” and inventory “stuff” and then match it to individual needs. Money is just easier for them to deal with.

Back to my original thought.

I never professed to be a scholar, but I have been studying the Bible for many years. I do at least have a clue – not all the clues and answers, but a clue nonetheless.

God has set this planet, stars and other things in motion. We have air to breathe, water to drink, sun for nourishment. It’s great the way the rain falls and waters the plants and then fruit grows and we eat. Things are good and God is good.

People say to me, “Joe, look what God did in Oklahoma.” To that I reply, “Did He?” I say no, He didn’t! Insurance companies and ignorant (uninformed) people have blamed God for many things over the years.

First, many people who blame God for these disasters – acts of God – don’t even believe in Him. How hypocritical is that?

Second, many people who blame God for these things won’t let Him in their lives. They want Him out of schools, holidays, Christmas and so on.

My Christian friends know we have an enemy. Remember Satan? If God is love, why would He wipe out your home and family? What kind of love is that? That’s like telling your wife you love her just before you slap her. Really?

Now, here is where I will lose some of you. (Goodbye – see you next week.)

My Bible says, “The thief (Satan) comes to steal, kill and destroy but I (Jesus/God) have come that you may have life and life more abundantly.”

God comes to give, Satan comes to take. Satan destroys. He perverts things. God created weather patterns to help the land and the earth to grow vegetation and to give us life, not kill people and destroy them.

God, not the devil, has worked in the hearts and minds of many to send them to help the victims of those storms, to bring them water and food and all their needs in this time – not the government (I know people get them confused at times).

So if you are a God-loving person, pray for the people in the affected areas. If you’re not a praying person, then send positive feelings their way. Just remember: God is not mad at the people in Oklahoma. He loves them, which is why He is sending them help.

God Bless America.

Liberal Chick Says God Hates Guns and Gun Owners Need to Repent!

Unbelievable! Are these people for real? Is this a parody? Sadly, even if this is a parody, there are really people out there like this!

YouTube Description:

She’s back and as loopy as ever. Liberal Chick says Jesus wants gun owners to repent. She says women should not resist assault and should wait for angels to protect them. Whacked!

A couple of comments from the YouTube video:

From altops: Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword (gun/weapon), let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Restricting Our Rights is Not the Answer – Pt. 1

In the last week, an unspeakable, heartbreaking event occurred, and this is going to be my first column commenting on the event, and my second will be published tomorrow.

My iPhone alerted me of what had happened a little after 10:30 in the morning last Friday. At that time, I and America were unaware of the magnitude of the shooting, and the effects it would have on our country in the days following.

I had absolutely zero words to say after I found out that little children had been murdered. The only emotion that would come out of me, were tears. Tears for the kids, teachers, staff, and tears for America, because I knew the discussion that would quickly follow.

Gun control is the headline answer to the tragedy. Just hours after the news had been broken, liberal pundits were already speaking out that guns had caused this tragedy and that more of it would prevent unnecessary deaths.

These columns, comments, and opinions seriously angered me.

In America, do we not have enough decency to not make everything into a political battle? Can some things not have any political spin to them?

These were the questions I was asking myself, my friends, and all of my twitter followers.

I was absolutely appalled and disgusted that such a horrible and tragic event could be turned into political shenanigans in a matter of hours. Did these people not have respect, knowledge, and decency for what had just happened?

It was a reality that no American, young or old, wanted to face. Many, many innocent people including small children had just been murdered in what should be the safest place for them. On top of that, not one person murdered had warranted any reason for their death, yet in a matter of seconds their lives would be so selfishly taken from them.

However, it is a reality that we must face, whether we like it or not.

In our society of “normalcy”, there are abnormal people. Abnormal people do things that you and I cannot comprehend because we process events on a rational level.

The man pulling the trigger was not normal. There was something wrong with him, but there were no real outward signs that anything was wrong, and preventing this massacre was almost impossible. There is only one rational way I could see this massacre being prevented, but we’ll discuss that in tomorrow’s column.

Saturday afternoon, the Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner discussed what he had seen at the scene, and with those of the dead. He told America that each of the children that he had completed an autopsy on had been shot anywhere from 3 to 11 times.

This man, Adam Lanza, wanted these children, teachers, and staff members dead.

For what reason? We will probably never know, and quite frankly, I don’t care to know why. All I know is, there must be some drastic action to take place, so that something like this never happens again.

I hate talking about this. It is sad. It is saddening. I wish the media would leave the town of Newtown, Connecticut alone.

No one should be speaking of this tragedy in political terms, and in part two, a future solution to this problem will be offered. I will continue to condemn those on both the right and the left that turned this unspeakable act into a political hotbed.

I pray every night for the children, staff, teachers, and all of the innocent lives that were lost because of a single man’s actions. This event has affected me, not like any other, because I am still in school, and I still remember what it was like as a first grader.

I hope we can find it in ourselves to stop the political spinning of this tragedy, and just leave the town alone so they can mourn their losses.

America is mourning with them.

God Bless You & God Bless America.

I Know Who Said to Take Out God and Jerusalem from the DNC Platform

Ok. So I don’t exactly know, but I can offer an educated guess. Before we get into that, a little background is necessary.

DonkeyHotey (CC)

Let’s go back to 2003. Back then, James Moore was starting his own little cottage industry on the back of Karl Rove. That “other-Moore” released a couple books, and one was made into a movie – “Bush’s Brain.” Of course, the whole marketing scheme was that George W. Bush couldn’t possibly be smart enough to do it all by himself. Rove was the puppet-master, and he was ruthless political operator manipulating the hapless Bush. Liberals ate this up with relish, and for at least a little while, they actually knew who Rove was (now, they apparently don’t, outside the Beltway at least.) Why was this idea so popular? Well, Bush did it to himself, in some ways. There just had to be someone very smart helping him along the way. How else could a former frat-boy make it to 1600, daddy being a previous resident notwithstanding?

Just a year later, Barack Obama comes on the national scene, at that year’s DNC convention. Of course this charismatic man was being groomed to run for the presidency. Everyone knew it, just as we can easily predict the rising stars in the GOP today. But how did Obama get there, and more importantly, how did he get into the White House? We all looked at Bush’s pedigree, and the left immediately leaped on any perceived deficiencies they could, leaving a huge market for Moore’s books on the topic. But, that was just a couple years into Bush’s first term. Only now are the Republicans starting to really delve into the past of the elusive Obama. Hopefully, it’s not “too little, too late.”

Instead of Moore, there’s Richard Miniter, and his book, Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him. I humbly suggest that it was no coincidence that the phrase “leading from behind” was used more than once on the floor of the RNC convention, by no less than Condi Rice, for one. This book suggests that there isn’t just one Rove in the background pulling strings in the current administration, but no less than three. That is, if you are only going to count the women.

In turns, Obama was (and still is) influenced highly by certain women in his life. That list includes Michelle Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and Valerie Jarrett. While both Michelle and Pelosi obviously have some sway in Obama’s world all the time, admittedly Pelosi’s real time of influence was during the debates and passage of the Healthcare Reform Act. No one is likely to forget her infamous “we’ve got to pass it to know what’s in it” plea, and Miniter actually contends that we should be referring to that legislation as “Pelosi-Care,” not Obamacare, to give credit where it is actually due. As for the current debacle with the platform, it’s highly unlikely that either Michelle or Pelosi would have suggested such a thing as removing reference to God and Jerusalem.

So, that leaves Hillary Clinton and Valerie Jarrett to consider. Sure, it’s possible that both of these women had a hand in this, for different reasons. While all the Dems have been making hay about Bill Clinton’s speech at the convention, I’ve been quietly considering Romney’s response to it. It really wasn’t a very good speech for Obama. If nothing else, Bill Clinton is good at smiling while delivering an obscure insult. It could be argued that is precisely what that speech was. Does anyone really think that Bill forgot about Reagan’s inheritance from Carter, and what he did with it? If you do, you must be a Democrat. So yes, there is a strong argument for Hillary suggesting, or at least supporting, the removal of the reference to God and Jerusalem in the Democratic Platform. Or you could buy into Alan Dershowitz’s contention that it’s the result of “rogue elements”. Not very convincing, however, it is interesting to consider Dershowitz’s opinion on Hamas.

And that leaves Valerie Jarrett. She is arguably the one that conservatives should be calling “Obama’s Brain.” And just who is she, really? To hear it from the Obama’s, she’s a very old friend. Considering they met sometime in the 1990’s, it does make one wonder what it takes to become an “old friend.” Otherwise, Jarrett resides in Rove’s old office, and some might even say that she has greater access to and influence on Obama than Rove ever did with Bush. And, by all accounts, Jarrett is a radical left-wing political player, and probably the biggest proponent of secularism in the current administration. Miniter’s book does cover the history of Jarrett and the Obama’s such as can be gleaned from the few that are willing to talk about her. Of course, it’s not likely anyone will get many statements on her going forward, and certainly not from anyone like Robert Gibbs, who she probably caused to end up outside the White House.

So, my bet is on Valerie Jarrett being the culprit, and there is no way it was a typo. And, like many other mistakes in this administration, there never was any intention for there to be a real vote on the issue on the floor of the convention. The fact that the delegates actually spoke their minds had to be highly annoying to Obama. After all, the only deity he wants to see people worshiping is him, right?

Christians the Key to America’s Future; But They Are Failing

Christians the Key to America’s Future; But They Are Failing

2 Chronicles 7:14 is the Answer

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and will pray and seek my face, and will turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear them from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Christians hold the key to the future of America and they are failing in their mission to preserve the freedom given to us by God Himself.  The Israelites of old got tired of following the prophets God gave them to oversea their nation and clamored for a king. God wanted them to follow Him but acquiesced to their demands and let them pick a king.  They picked Saul and he eventually drove them into slavery because he followed his own human desires and forgot where the real power came from.

Eventually, David was appointed by God through the prophet Samuel.  Saul did everything he could to destroy David but God protected him until the time for his reign was at hand.  David eventually sinned with Bathsheba and had her husband killed in battle.  He paid a very dear price but when he repented and came back to God he was forgiven.  When David’s grandson became king, the nation of Israel divided and began growing in their rebellion and even began worshipping idols.  For the next few centuries God allowed them to be defeated by their enemies and ended up in slavery, with their nation completely destroyed.

Today America is following the same path, and will be punished for it’s arrogance in the face of God’s love and kindness.  We have been given a great nation, formed from the blood of freedom loving men and women, and defended with the blood of freedom loving men and women for generations, generations that add up to 236 years of freedom from the tyranny of the King of England, or any other tyrrant.  We have been given a nation, formed upon “Divine Providence”, but are throwing it away.  We are on the verge of losing that freedom because we no longer look to God for our freedom, we look to men who have proven themselves to be interested only in giving a voice to their own evil desires in our society.

I continually hear the “anyone but Obama” chant from Christians who look to Mitt Romney as their savior.  “Only Mitt Romney can save us from the tyranny of Obama”, and “not voting for Romney is voting for Obama” are the words I am chided and ridiculed with.   In a conversation with my pastor a few weeks ago he spoke of a conversation he had with a “Christian” man a couple of years back.  This man told my pastor that he was “prayerfully pro-choice”.  My pastor had the same thought that hit me immediately, “you’re an idiot!!!!”(I would have voiced my thoughts but he was more discreet).

Rebellion against God is the malady that is destroying our nation.  Abortion is accepted as “a woman’s right to choose”.  That right to choose, at least as I read the Bible, ends at conception.  God formed us in our mother’s womb it says in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. I ordained you a prophet to the nations”.  I have been chided with “where is the word ‘abortion’ mentioned in the Bible?” so many times it sickens me.  No, the word “abortion” is not in the Bible, but then the word “rapture” is not in the Bible either. I believe that everyone knows what the word “rapture” refers to and I don’t know any Christians who deny the Rapture is going to take place, regardless of what we call it.  I believe “caught up” is the most commonly term used.  I don’t know where the word “rapture” came from and don’t really care.  The point is I understand the concept, regardless of the actual word or term used, as in the references to abortion in today’s vernacular.

“Gay rights” is another misnomer that too many Christians find acceptable under the political correctness tab.  In 1 Corinthians 6:9, the Bible states very plainly that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God.  I don’t know how anyone can construe that verse as God accepting homosexuality as “normal”.  He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because Lot could not find five “righteous men”.  In the context of the story I find that to mean he could not find five men who were not homosexuals.

Now I read that a new version of the Bible is being published that promotes, and even celebrates, homosexuality.  How can any Christian not find that abhorrent?  Churches are even ordaining openly homosexual men and women into the ministry in celebration of their “enlightenment and tolerance”.  How can we expect God to honor this nation when that is the order of the day, not only in government, the courts, and secular society, but in our churches?

Some churches are now merging Christianity with Islam; calling is “Chrislam”, and once again celebrating their “enlightened” selves.  Islam denies the divinity of Jesus Christ and that is acceptable in the name of “tolerance” to some church groups and some Christians?  I don’t get it!!!  I don’t care how people live their lives in private but society accepting what God calls evil is not the right thing to do.  Tolerance and acceptance of these things is not what God calls for in His Word.  Jesus called for us to “love the sinner but hate the sin”.  Loving the sinner is not the same as enabling and accepting the sin.

Now we find Christians in such fear of another four years of Barack Obama that they will throw God aside and call me names because I refuse to vote for Mitt Romney, a man who openly embraces both abortion and “gay rights”.  Romney is a Mormon, allegedly a Christian, but I don’t hold that against him.  I know others who are Mormons but hold a much different attitude than does Mr. Romney.  What I take issue with is his pandering to the evil that is destroying our nation in order to be “tolerant and inclusive”.

People are being deceived, as is stated will happen in the end times.  Right has become wrong and wrong has become right.  Standing on biblical principles today in America is cause for ridicule and derision.  Calls of “bigot, homophobe, hater, right-winger”, and other vile names are used in order to marginalize and intimidate those who stand on Christian values, to silence any opposition.  God is being pushed aside by those “enlightened ones” who know better and are more “tolerant and inclusive”.  Those of us who stand by biblical concepts are treated ever more profanely as days go by.

Another four years of Obama may be “all my fault” but I cannot abandon God’s principles to gain the favor of those who are willing to abandon those same principles in order to be accepted in society.  When the day of God’s judgment comes to the United States of America as a nation will you be able to say that you stood your ground and did what you could to stop the slide to oblivion?  Many people laugh at and deride me now, and many who read this will add their voices of derision and laughter to the cacophony I now hear; but I think of the people who laughed at and derided Noah, until the rain started.

Voting for Romney because he isn’t quite as bad as Obama is not the answer to our nation’s woes.  The spirit of fear gripping most Christians today is harmful to us personally and as a nation.  That “spirit of fear” gripping our nation is rebellion against God.  Until we are willing to stand and fight what seems to be a hopeless fight we will continue to lose because God will not be with us.  How many times did the ancient Israelites win battles against hopeless odds because they put their faith in God instead of man?  David beat Goliath because he stood when others were afraid to stand. David’s faith in God brought him through an impossible battle because he stood on that faith when the leaders of Israel failed to do so.  Joshua at Jericho and Abraham rescuing Lot and the other captives with a token force of warriors are but two more examples of what we can do if we look to God instead of looking to man.

I will write in the name of John Albert Dummett Jr. (www.johndummett.us ) when I step into the voting booth in November.  “He can’t win” and “you are wasting your vote” are the popular comments I hear, and that is most likely correct in a fearful and secular nation.  John stands for the same values I stand for, and takes the same ridicule for his principles that I take.  I will not vote out of fear of Obama and I will not vote for the lesser of two evils ever again.  I am also voting for Dwayne Thompson (www.dwaynethompson.org ) in the Congressional race in my home district (Ok 2nd) because he stands on God’s principles, not on what sounds fancy to voters.  Both of these men will tell you that God is the answer to our problems, not politicians.  That is why I support them, because I believe in their message, and in God’s message.  They desire to follow God’s word and the Constitution.

Somewhere, sometime, somehow we have to turn this nation around.  There is only one way to accomplish that task and that is to get back to our founding fathers’ example.  They relied on “divine providence” to lead them and I believe they did a bang up job of creating a nation that is the most free and most prosperous ever created.  They didn’t do it by accident and they didn’t do it by relying on fear.  They created our nation and our Constitution by prayer and by following the concepts laid out in God’s Word, the Holy Bible.  We must get back to that concept if we are to survive as a free nation under the protection of Divine Providence.  Any other concept will be met with continued failure and eventual slavery, poverty, tyranny, and death.

Compromising God’s Word is not an option for me.  Voting for Romney would be a compromise of the most precious gifts God has given me and I will not do that.  Regardless of who wins in November those of us who stand on our Christian principles and values will suffer greatly in this nation because evil will reign.  God will not be with a nation who does not want Him and will not force anyone, or any nation, to follow Him.  He will have His way in the end.  Will you be there, regardless of the cost personally? Will you take the insults and derision to stand for God and the principles that were used to make our nation great or will you play it safe before man?

It may already be too late for America.  Noah’s boat may have already sailed, but I am among those who still believe there is time for repentance.  There are those crying in the wilderness for repentance of a sinful nation.  Those voices are not being heard at this time and it is sad that is the case.  A nation, One Nation Under God, is falling away from the very source of power that created it and will pay a terrible price very soon.  2 Chronicles 7:14 is the answer but too many Christians are failing to seek the right answer.

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility give to me by almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.

2012: The Year Of The Hand of God In America

As we start a new year some thoughts come to me from something my pastor’s wife said Sunday morning, January 1, 2012. She recently did a study on the number 12 and its significance in Scripture. It reminded me of the deep importance of God in the development of our nation and the importance of God in the coming year. This is what she said:

In the Bible “12” represents God’s perfect government and Divine authority. To write “12” in Hebrew two Hebrew letters are used … “yod” which signifies hand or outworking and “beth” which signifies house. “The outworking of the household in harmony under Divine authority.” I am claiming this for each household and our house of worship that we will see God’s authority extended to our territory from our homes and churches.

OH YEAH! AMEN!

Before I started my writing career 18 months ago, I was inspired by a series of documentaries I watched about the founding of our nation and how our founding fathers placed so much importance on Divine Providence. I saw how their faith in God and their devotion to Biblical principles guided them in their pursuit of liberty and freedom for all, not just the wealthy, elite group in which most of them belonged.

Our nation was founded by men who believed in God very strongly and prayed every step of the way; through the years of protesting to King George of England about their grievances; through the horrible years of the Revolutionary War when death, suffering, fear, and want were the order of the day; then through the 11 years it took to actually form a nation, write the Constitution of the United States of America, and have it ratified by the various states.

Those in charge of government, both political parties, vote into law legislation they don’t read. And frankly, they don’t know or care what it says. And then we have the endless array of bureaucrats who justify their jobs by adding to the endless stream of tyrannical rules we are expected to follow, followed up by judges who rule according to their atheistic agenda rather than according to the Constitution.

We have a president who is not constitutionally eligible to serve, yet both parties ignore the Constitution because it is easier to do that than stand up and do what is right. We have state elected officials who ignore the Constitution of the United States, as well as their state Constitution because these documents get in the way of their personal or political party agendas. We have cronyism more blatant than ever before in my life time, total disregard for the citizens of this nation, total disregard for the laws of this nation, and a situation that seems can only be resolved by armed conflict ala 1776. There is another way.

There is an old saying I have heard since I was a small child:

“it is always darkest just before the dawn”.

I have spent many cold dark mornings sitting in a tree waiting for some of Bambi’s family to come strolling into my line of fire and I can vouch for that old saying. As night begins to turn into day it really does seem to get darker and colder for that last hour or so of night. Starlight seems to dim and the night gets so dark I can’t see my hands in front of my face for what seems like a very long period of time.

Then suddenly, I see a twinkling of light, followed by another, and another, until the eastern sky behind me begins to slowly brighten, just a little at a time. Then shadows begin to appear a few at a time. The tree branches seem to take on different shapes as the shadows begin to form and the woods slowly come alive with the sound of squirrels rousting from their nests to go in search of breakfast. I hear birds begin to rustle in their nests and start to chirp; first one, then two, then more as the light begins to creep in and another morning breaks.

I believe 2011 was the darkest hour before the dawn. So many bad things happened in 2011 that it is easy to get discouraged, to become fearful of the future. The year was so dark with the activities of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party, activities that are totally counter to the Constitution, freedom, and our way of life. The Republican Party was no help either, but rather added to the dismay and the darkness. The 87 TEA Party freshmen members of the House of Representatives seemed to buckle at every turn and become part of the problem instead of part of the solution to the problem.

The National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1867/HR 1540) was passed at the last minute and then the two biggest supporters of it came out and casually announced they had no idea what was included in the legislation. “Sodomy and Bestiality are no longer against the rules for our military? The president can order American citizens missing fingers or stocking up on food held without charge indefinitely? I didn’t know that was in there.” We heard that from those “staunch conservatives”, Lindsey Graham and John McCain. Ron Paul, the darling of the “Libertarians”, says Iran should have nukes and that Israel is the root of all evil and isn’t worth our time and money to defend. The national debt that Obama, and the Republicans in Congress, pledged to diminish was instead raised by $2.4 trillion. Mitt Romney, the darling of the Republican establishment, has more positions than a symphony orchestra on any issue you can name. The rest of the candidates aren’t much better. Need I go on or would that depress you even more?

Today we look at a new year fraught with danger yet full of hope. We have elections in November that, if allowed to occur by our benevolent rulers, will determine the difference between a life of freedom and a life of tyranny for We the people. I wrote an article on this subject a couple of months ago in which I listed many of the things that have been done in the name of freedom but actually were done to take our freedom from us. I urged people to take a good look around them and to see what is happening. I have written many times about the issues facing the future freedom of We the People and what we need to do to remedy the problems. I am not politically partisan in my writing. I write truth, not party spin.

Most of our problems go much deeper than government abuse. The problems with government cannot be solved by man alone. God’s hand was prominent in the creation of this great and mighty nation, God’s hand has been prominent in the preservation of this nation, and God’s hand must be prominent in the future of this nation if it is to prosper once again. We as a nation have turned from God and accepted so many things that go against His Word. I remember a prayer given at the beginning of a State of Kansas legislative session a few years ago. I don’t remember all of it but the minister spoke of accepting sin by calling it all kinds of politically correct names. We must turn our eyes back to what made this nation great and acknowledge what has driven this nation to the brink of destruction.

I am encouraged by what I see, hear, and read on the many conservative social network sites I belong to. I am encouraged by the responses to items like this that I write. Even when I write about the bad things happening, I see people who are as outraged as I am and are willing to stand up and do something about it. I see people acknowledging God and His part in our nation. I see people who will pray, as we all need to do, but also stand and act on the promises of God for our lives and our nation. I am encouraged by God’s inspiration in my writing, in my life, and in my nation despite my failings and my sin. I wake up each day with a fresh start and a new grace to live through the day with. All of us have this grace, all we have to do is accept it and act upon it.

In Scripture, 12 is the number of God’s hand on our houses. This revelation gives me hope for this year, 2012, the year God will reach out to us in a way we have not seen before in our lifetimes. All we have to do is reach our hands back to God, accept that divine authority, and work within it to restore our nation. We can’t solve the problems of our nation from the top down, it must be from the bottom up. We can live on trickle down economics but we prosper on trickle up faith. We start with ourselves, move up to our household, then up to our community, our state, and finally our nation. It is each one of us accepting God’s forgiving grace and using the opportunity to make ourselves better first and expanding that improvement into an ever enlarging sphere of influence until it permeates our entire nation and we can once again be that “shining city on a hill” described by John Winthrop in the 1700’s.

This year, 2012, is a year that can turn our nation around if we will step up and do it. It CAN be done and WE can do it. No movement starts with a crowd, but with an idea one person is willing to act upon. This idea becomes known and accepted by another person, then another, then another, until it becomes a movement. The TEA Party is such a movement. It is a concept, coined in a phrase by one man, that has become a concept embraced by 67% of We the People. It is a concept grounded in Godly principles and the acknowledgement that freedom isn’t free and We the people have to stand up for the values that established this nation and made it great.

We are God’s agents in this world and we must operate accordingly. We must seek guidance through prayer and have the courage to act on that guidance when the enemy, both spiritual and physical, comes against us. For too many years Christians have sat back and let evil take control of our nation because we were too complacent or too fearful to fight that evil. We have left it to others to fight our fight and they have not done so. Those we depended on to fight our battles for us have become part of the evil that we are fighting.

This year is the year we have unprecedented help available to us. We can use 2012, the year of “yod beth”, to restore America to what God and our founding fathers established. It is time for us to take up the full armor of God and restore the United States of America to what is once was and what it can be again. If we do not have faith, and the courage of our faith, to fight this battle then our freedoms will be lost forever. It is up to me. It is up to you. It is up to each American citizen to do their part for freedom. Pray, repent, and act; future generations are depending on us.

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.

Book Review: "9 Miracles- One Mother's Amazing Journey Home After Seeing Her Son Off To War"" By Leigh Watson

Yesterday, my family and I made a trip to our local Family Christian Bookstore. We had actually gone last weekend, but the store closed just moments before we got there. We were a bit frustrated, but decided we would try again this weekend. It’s just too hectic during the week for luxuries like the bookstore.

As we walked in the door, we were greeted by a lady sitting at a table. She introduced herself as Leigh Watson, and told us she was a local author who was there for a book signing. She gave us an overview of what her book was about, and my mind began to whirl!

She had me from the moment she opened her mouth. I could see by the cover of the book that it was about our military. She confirmed this fact within the first few words she spoke, telling us that it was about her journey of seeing her son off  when he went to Iraq in the war. She said “9 Miracles- One Mother’s Amazing Journey Home After Seeing Her Son Off To War” was not about her sons journey, but her journey, and the miracles that happened to her.

I told her we would take a book, and she addressed it to our family. After a few more minutes of pleasantries, we thanked her, and went on our way to do our shopping.

Author Leigh Watson

Just a few moments later, I told my husband to watch the kids for a minute, I would be right back. I just had to talk to Leigh again! I had so many questions! I could not even concentrate on my own shopping, because I was so intrigued by her story. I honestly do not remember all that we talked about, but I remember distinctly that she told me the book itself was a miracle, because she never wrote anything down- not even a shopping list!  We visited for several more minutes, and once again, I went on my way, rejoining my family.

We finished our shopping, and went to check out. As we were waiting in the check out line, my children began talking to her. She gave each of my children a bookmark, which of course thrilled them to the gills!

We made our purchase, said our good-byes to Leigh, and headed out the door.

Right next to Family Christian Bookstore is Home Depot. We had to run in to pick up a few items there as well, so as I was driving across the parking lot, I asked my husband if he wanted to just run in and get the few items we needed, and I would stay in the car with the kids. He was agreeable to that arrangement, to my delight!

As he ran in to do our shopping, I opened my book and began to read.

The synopsis, as written on the back of the book, is as follows:

When Leigh’s husband is unable to accompany her to see their Air Force son, Luke, off to Iraq, Leigh mentally prepares herself to make the trip alone, knowing she will have to be strong for Luke’s sake.

Along the way, she encounters extraordinary people and incredible circumstances that could only be defined as heaven-sent. Rejoice, how as one exits- another appears, carrying her on the wings of mercy all the way home.

I finished the first chapter just as my husband was getting back into the car. Leigh had already brought tears to my eyes- in the very first chapter!

The rest of the day was quite busy, so I did not have the opportunity to sit down to read anymore for the day.

This morning, I woke up at 7:30 am and picked up my book. By 8:10 am, I had completed the book. I needed this book at this time in my life more than Leigh could have known!  More importantly, God knew I needed this book! If the store had not been closed last weekend, we would have completed our shopping then, and would not have been back this weekend. In fact, as I told Leigh, this was only the second time we had come to this store, preferring instead to shop online. God had other plans for me this time. He knew that this book was something that I needed. He knew that I needed to meet Leigh. And He knew this is a book I probably would not have chosen to buy, had I not met the author personally.

While I know that God Is God- He is real, He is with me every second of every minute of every day- sometimes I tend to forget that He is concerned with even the tiniest details of my life. Just as He was with Leigh at one of the saddest points in her life, He reminded me that every day He is with me, just as He was with her that day! He has used “9 Miracles” to speak to my heart. He has reminded me that all the things I have been preoccupied with recently should be handed over to Him.

Rather than sitting around wringing my hands, worrying about my children, the choices they are making, the choices they will make in the future, I need to focus on raising my children in a Godly home and let God do the rest. Yes, without a doubt we are going to have our rough times. Yes, we are going to have our tribulations. But as the new Newsboys song says,

“You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning
And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails”

His love never fails. The trials I am facing right now are painful, but indeed, joy will come in the morning, because His love never fails! “9 Miracles” is proof of that fact! Without a doubt in my mind, Leigh’s story is proof that God cares for us more than we can ever know. Her journey was, indeed, an amazing one!

One thing that sticks out in my mind from my conversation with Leigh was the fact that she said she was not a writer. She told me, and she writes in the book, that the entire book was written in two sittings. This just amazed me! God was definitely in the writing of His “9 Miracles”!

If you are someone who likes to tear apart the sentence structure of a book, disect the technical side of things, and critique the literary experience, this is not the book for you. While it may never be a “literary masterpiece” to the scholars of the world, the Master of the Universe doesn’t need all that.  Leigh Watson is most definitely the instrument in the hands of The Master who loves His children. If, however, you are just an ordinary person who believes in miracles, this is a book you must read! And if you are someone who does not believe in miracles, I challenge you to read it anyway! Maybe… just maybe, God will speak to you as well! And if you dare to allow Him, He will work miracles in your life. You simply have to believe, and place your trust in Him.

I literally read the book from beginning to end in less than 45 minutes. It was as if I was sitting there with Leigh, over a cup of coffee, with her telling me the story in person. I teared up more times than I can remember, and actually cried a couple of times, out of just pure amazement at my God’s love and mercy!  I know that He loves His children- there is no doubt in my mind of this! However, to read the specifics of how He lovingly took care of Leigh shows me that yes, He may have created heaven and earth, and everything that is, but He still loves every single one of His children as if we were the only one in the world!

My older three children had asked if they could read the book. After I finished the book this morning, I called them into my bedroom and they all piled into the bed. I told them that rather than each of them reading the book, I would read it to all of them, so even the younger two children could hear the story of God’s miracles. We finished half of the book this morning, and will most definitely finish it tomorrow.

If you would like to read a book that is very easy to read and very inspiring, you will want to read this book! In Leigh’s words, “Everyone needs 9 miracles!”
