The word oxymoron is defined by Bing dictionary as being, an “expression with contradictory words:” a phrase in which two words of contradictory meaning are used together for special effect, e.g. “wise fool” or “legal murder”. (fools are not considered to be wise people and murder is never “legal”)

Number 10 on the oxymoron list comes to us via the group of 2012 GOP Presidential candidates, in the form of Rick Santorum. While Santorum is mainly running on the platform of being the non-Romney conservative alternative, an oxymoron has been used to better describe Mr. Santorum’s Senatorial voting record and when we look at that record, Mr. Santorum qualifies for the Number 10 oxymoron of the day: A Big Government Conservative.

Number 9 - Small Government Liberalism. This oxymoron is so outrageous that it surely sits right next to the “wise fool” oxymoron on the list of most contradictory statements ever written. Yet in California, ( the most Liberal state in the country) we see that a Mr. Matt Rozee actually tries to pass himself off as a small government Liberal when running for Congress. He also claims to be an Executive Director at Fox in his bio. That should make those folks that criticize Fox News for appearing to veer left recently feel pretty good.

Number 8 - The Public Option becomes a ludicrous example of an oxymoron, when it is being used to promote the Liberal health-care “reforms” that basically forces everyone into a government-run health-care system where the only option people end up with is the government plan, simply because the government has put all the other health insurance companies out of business. A great example of another supposed “public option” is the option to pay taxes to support our current big government debt-spenders. The phrase, “no taxation without representation” comes to mind here. In that case you have the option to pay your taxes and shut up.. or go to prison. Unless you are a member of Congress of course, such as Claire McCaskell (D-MO), Charlie Rangel (D-NY), or current Treasury Chief Timothy Geitner. We can now add Government Motors to the list of big government tyrants and crony-capitalists who do not have to pay taxes like the rest of America.

Number 7 - Bureaucratic efficiency. This oxymoron is self-explanatory and would seem to be some kind of joke, if this country wasn’t $16 trillion dollars in debt and headed straight off the Greek-style debt cliff, like the plunge the once-great city of Detroit is currently undertaking. When it comes to big government bureaucratic efficiency, today’s United States Post Office serves up a heaping helping of reality as to how efficient a once-proud and stable organization becomes when the big government meddlers of Congress get involved.

Number 6 – Tolerant Liberal becomes a great example of an oxymoron when we see this video of Rep Maxine Waters most recent expose’ of Congressional hate-speech and partisanship.

Number 5 - Secret Government Talks becomes an oxymoron when big government media manipulators use it to announce the secret meetings to the entire world, as we see in the article, ridiculously titled, Afghanistan and US in secret talks with Taliban. Everything qualifies as a big government secret that needs to be kept from the American taxpayers today, when we look at the recent refusal of the Obama administration to allow White House officials to appear before Congress to explain how half a billion dollars were given to the bankrupt green energy firm Solyndra.

Number 4 – President Obama’s numerous campaign statements that he is working to reduce deficits and debt is a form of an oxymoron that is so far out of touch with reality that it is hard to understand just how he expects the American people to believe it. For the perfect example of this, please President Obama’s Budget Buffoonery. In that article, it shows how Obama’s latest budget proposal adds trillions of dollars of debt, and makes zero cuts to big government spending, all contrary to his thousands of recent [taxpayer-funded] campaign speeches about the need to cut the deficits and lower the national debt. Barack Obma has in fact piled more debt onto the backs of future generations of Americans in 3 1/2 years than G.W. Bush did in 8 full years in office. Obama’s debt chart can be seen in this article. Obama has piled on record debt in 3 straight years,’09, ’10, and ’11 and the 2012 deficit is now projected to once again be a whopping 1.32 trillion, and which the White House underestimated by 138%! Some folks could confuse Obama’s oxymoron about cutting deficits and debt with a blatant lie, designed to win reelection and hide his Liberal debt-spending of the past 3 1/2 years.

Number 3 – Accidentally on Purpose is a good example of an oxymoron that is mainly used as a form of sarcasm today. When looking at the debt-spending of Obama in number 4 above, while claiming that he is “reducing deficits and debt” a lot of Americans have now come to the conclusion that Obama is bankrupting America accidentally on purpose.

Number 2 - Congressional Ethics has to be considered a flaming oxymoron today, when examining the current crop of corrupto-crats in Congress which include the following “honorable civil servants.” Rep Alcee Hastings ( D-FL) who is the impeached federal judge who was found guilty of numerous corruption charges, yet has been re-elected to serve in Congress for 19 straight years! How about he above mentioned far left radical extremist and hate-speech generator, Maxine Waters (D-CA) who lobbied the White House for TARP money for her husbands bank illegally? When it comes to Congressional Ethics, the completely discredited former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and her profiting from insider trading certainly ranks among the top ten in hypocritical hyperbole when it comes to congressional ethics.

Number 1 and the political oxymoron of the century has to go to the statement that “Barack Hussein Obama is the most gifted speaker in the history of U.S. politics,” while the only speaking the current campaigner-in-chief does in public ever since he was elected. is to read words written by other’s and inserted into a teleprompter. While Obama might qualify as a “gifted speech reader,” reading from a teleprompter hardly qualifies him for the most gifted speaker in U.S. history award. However, it does qualify him for the oxy-moron ( pun intended) of the century.

Considering that that is about all the public has been told concerning the TARP taxpayer cash giveaway sweepstakes, the following information will come as quite a shocker. From the Special Inspector General for TARP (SIGTARP) report, we see just how the media is failing this country today: Keep in mind that this is the Quarterly Report to Congress dated Jan. 26, 2012. You may access the complete report at sigtarp.gov

According to the Jan 2012 SIGTARP report:

U.S. Taxpayers are stilled owed approximately $133 billion dollars.

As of the end of 2011, the Treasury has written off $4.2 billion and realized losses of $7.8 billion, of which the U.S. taxpayer will never see a penny of repayment, with more losses expected in the future.

While the TARP bailouts were enacted in 2008, TARP bailouts will in fact, continue through the year 2017. Treasury has been authorized to spend another $51 billion tax dollars on TARP supported housing programs and “certain securities markets.”

As of Jan. 2012, there were “criminal convictions of 31 defendants, of whom 22 have been sentenced to prison, a reported total ofcriminal actions against 61 individuals, including 45 senior officers (CEOs, owners, founders, or senior executives) of their organizations, and another 18 civil cases naming…corporate or other legal entities as defendants.

Look who still owes the taxpayer a whopping $75 billion dollars according to the latest SIGTARP report: AIG still owes $50 billion while GM still owes $25 billion dollars. Ally Financial also still owes the U.S taxpayers another $12 billion dollars.

The U.S. Treasury also handed out TARP “loans” and then took stock as a form of payment. The G.M. stock held by the Treasury ( thus the taxpayers) was currently trading at $24.72 on Thursday of last week. The break even price needed to recover the taxpayers cost of that part of the G.M. Bailout? $53.98 a share, or more than double it’s current value!

The bottom line: The taxpayers have lost tens of billions of TARP dollars already through fraud and other criminal methods of theft, and there is a lot more to come. Check out the above-linked SIGTARP report. While the media refuses to report on this massive taxpayer fraud, there are some names of those already convicted right in that report. AIG and the “Largest Automaker in the world” G.M. as Obama and company like to brag about still owes the taxpayer $25 billion dollars, and AIG owes them double that! One last fact: TARP was passed in 2008, when Nancy Pelosi was running the U.S. House of Representatives and Harry Reid was running the U.S. Senate. Yes they are both Liberal Democrats.

Other fast facts about TARP from the NY Times:

The final tally in the House was 263 to 171, with 91 Republicans joining 172 Democrats in favor. That was a wider bipartisan majority than vote-counters in both parties had expected, completing a remarkable turnabout from Monday, when the House defeated an earlier version of the bill by 228 to 205.

In the end, 33 [ Senate] Democrats and 24 Republicans who had voted no on Monday switched sides on Friday to support the plan. Both Mr. Obama and his Republican rival, Senator John McCain, voted for the measure when the Senate approved it on Wednesday, and both hailed Friday’s outcome.

The financial markets, however, were not enthusiastic. Already weighed down by another round of bleak economic data, including a report showing that 159,000 jobs were lost in September. (emphasis added) [While current President Barack Obama constantly states that the U.S was bleeding 700,000 jobs a month when he took office, in late 2008 it was in fact, 159,000 jobs lost for the entire month of September, 2008, just before he took office. Just last week, according to CNN Money, we lost another 377,000 jobs!]

Guess what corporations are getting into bed with the Chinese? General Motors (GM) and General Electric (GE)! Yes, you read that correctly. GM, recipient of $50 billion of taxpayer money, and GE, whose CEO is Jeffery Immelt, good friend of President Barack Obama. GE and GM agreed on a pilot installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Shanghai, the latest step in GM’s plan to develop infrastructure in China to support sales of its Chevy Volt. GE agreed to buy the extended range EVs for use at its corporate headquarters in Shanghai.

General Motors

GM received a subsidy of $50 billion in 2009 because it was “too big to fail.” In 2010, GM “claimed” that it paid back the government bailout loan in full, with interest, years ahead of schedule. While that statement is true, what GM CEO Ed Whitacre was referencing was the $6.9 billion money received amount, not the $43 billion stock equity position taxpayers were forced to take with the bail-out. But that is the subject of another post.

Under pressure from the Chinese government GM has agreed to provide access to its proprietary electric vehicle technology to its Chinese partner, Shanghai Automotive Industrial Corp. (SAIC). Beijing has pledged that it will do whatever it takes to help the Chinese car industry take the lead in EVs. GM contends the move will help it maintain a lead in the rapid electrification of the industry. A serious concern is that GM may lose control of intellectual property (IP). Protection of IP rights has become a critical concern, with Chinese businesses routinely ignoring trademarks and copyrights on everything from pop music and movies to pharmaceuticals and automotive design.

GM is partnering with China in a 50-50 joint venture with China’s state-run auto industry. And GE will join GM in a related partnership in China. Why, you ask, is GM doing this? As it turns out, GM will receive a $19,300 subsidy per EV from the Chinese government. To get it GM must share its EV technology with the Chinese, as well as produce the EVs in China. The GM China Advanced Technical Center, in Shanghai, is adjacent to GM’s headquarters, and is in a 50-50 partnership with Chinese state-run SAIC to develop and implement the electric technology, probably in the Shanghai GM Chevy Sail, introduced late last year. GM, we also learn, is “selling” Volts to GE for use in China.

GM vice president Stephen J. Girsky told the New York Times, “This is not a political decision today. It’s a business decision.”

General Electric

GE will install a number of charging stations at a government-assigned international EV demonstration zone in Shanghai’s Jiading District and at the GM Headquarters office in the city. GE will build and install
EV charging stations which could be in higher demand if drivers buy EVs. The company estimates the expanding market could bring it up to $500 million in revenue over the next three years. The charging station installations replicate the infrastructure build-up efforts in the U.S. it developed from grants from the Department of Energy. Also, GE Energy announced in August, 2011, a partnership with Hertz Corp. for advancing EVs and charging stations in China.

Ford?

Ford’s CEO, Alan Mulally said that Ford Motor Co. may make electric cars with its partner in China as the auto industry moves toward producing more fuel-efficient vehicles. “As we move to more electrification, you’re going to see more hybrids, plug-in hybrids and all-electric cars,” said Mulally.

The Japanese?

Both Nissan and Toyota have no plans to manufacture existing models (Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius) in China. Nissan, in China, is jointly developing an electric car with its Chinese partner, Dongfeng Motor. But it has decided not to build its new electric Nissan Leaf in China. Toyota said that it will build and sell in China the current generation of the Prius gasoline-electric hybrid, even though the Prius is not eligible for most Chinese government subsidies because it is not a plug-in vehicle. But Toyota has said that it has no plans to build or sell the plug-in version of the new Prius in China. It would be eligible for Chinese subsidies – but only if Toyota transferred core technologies.

So… the next round of whining you will hear from Democrats and the Obama administration will be about how U.S. EV manufacturers in this country can’t compete because of China’s massive subsidies to their EV industries. And the environmentalists and government subsidy company investors will cry for more U.S. government “investment,” or their Solyndra-like companies will fail and their green jobs will be gone and/or not be permanent.

Are GM and GE putting short term profits ahead of patriotism? When (not if) the Chinese take advantage of our technology and use it to build better war machines, we taxpayers will have to again bail out GM, as well as GE.

But that’s just my opinion.
