This morning, during the 8am hour, the faithful listeners of the Bob Miller show on KPAM 860am were posed with a thought experiment. Evidenty George Zimmerman is having difficulty leading a normal life these days, and he’s launched a website to accept donations to cover expenses and pay his legal fees: http://www.therealgeorgezimmerman.com/. On his show, Bob Miller posed the question, “Would you contribute to George Zimmerman’s legal defense fund, and why or why not?”
A caller at around 8:12 am (audio will be posted as soon as it’s available) told Bob that there’s no way that he would contribute, despite the knowledge of Zimmerman’s financial hardships, because, “I saw the tape from the police station on ABC News, and he didn’t have a scratch on him.”
Bob corrected him and said the CNN tape clearly shows a deep gash in the back of his head, and the caller joked with Bob that he had completely derailed his argument.
Here’s the real takeaway from this snapshot in time. The general news-watching public is clearly still under the massive sway of several main stream news organizations that have either refused to clarify the grainy video (in the case of ABC), misquoted the 911 tape (CNN), or have actively altered the 911 recording (NBC).

With the tragic death of Trayvon Martin, the Democrats and media have found the story they needed to exploit in order to prove their position that America’s justice system is racially biased towards White Supremacy, just like Bell’s “Critical Race Theory” asserts, and that Obama is not a radical or racist for subscribing to this ideology.
So far, blame for the incident has been cast on Rush Limbaugh, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, George W. Bush, the Koch Brothers, and even the hoodie Martin was wearing. Obama said that America needs to do some “soul searching” about the supposed racist guilt of our society, remarking, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon Martin.”
[NBC’s]Editgate, however, is something much, much worse.
In the case of ABC News, even though the network knew it had the capability to eventually enhance surveillance video of Zimmerman’s arrest, the network still chose to release the un-enhanced video with this declarative headline: “Trayvon Martin Video Shows No Blood or Bruises on George Zimmerman.”
Translation: Zimmerman is a liar who hunted down and murdered an unarmed teenager.
What CNN did was even worse. “The Most Trusted Name In News” told America that, according to their audio expert, Zimmerman called Trayvon Martin a “fucking coon” just prior to shooting him. They’ve since backpedaled, but the gasoline had already been gleefully thrown on the racial fire. And like ABC News, here’s another situation where a major network shot their biased mouths off, knowing there was better technology at their disposal to report something closer to the truth later.
Translation: Zimmerman is a racist who killed an unarmed teenager because he was black.
But the Editgate gold medal goes to NBC News. The Peacock Network didn’t “misinterpret” what was in front of them and they didn’t jump the gun. What NBC did was ALTER what they had to make Zimmerman look racist.
On the storied ”Today Show,” NBC News told America Zimmerman said this on the 911 call:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.
When the truth is that the unedited audio actually went like this:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.
TRANSLATION: George Zimmerman racially profiled the unarmed black teenager he shot.
Make no mistake. These efforts have been deliberate and for a clear purpose. It has already been proven over and over again that the mainstream media are not simply in the tank for Obama, but actively assisting in disseminating the talking points directly from the White House. And if the White House wants to exploit racial tensions as a wedge issue, the legacy alphabet networks are all too happy to participate.
It’s just too bad that so many of the general public are either oblivious or indifferent to the collusion and tricks by the mainstream media. This is how a caller in to a local radio show can STILL be completely unaware that the information he was fed was a complete fraud.
In yet another chapter in the Trayvon Martin saga, The Daily Caller reported on a letter that was sent to Seminole County, Fla. NAACP president Turner Clayton by a member of George Zimmerman’s family.
“It’s time for you to end the race issue in this matter and call for cooler heads to prevail,” the letter reads. “If something happens to George as a result of the race furor stirred up by this mischaracterization of George there will be blood on your hands as well as the rest of the racists that have rushed to judgment. You need to call off the dogs. Period. Publicly and swiftly.”
The previous from The Daily Caller coverage clearly shows the level of frustration that has built, not only in the Zimmerman family. Analyzing what has become of race relations today is an exercise in misery. Civil rights organizations like NAACP have not moved on with the nation, and continues to hold on to the paradigms that were true in the 1950’s. The irony is that an organization that theoretically should be working to improve the situation for African Americans, is holding people back.
It’s been said time and again that this case is only in the news because the victim was black, and the accused is “white Hispanic”. That classification for Zimmerman in itself is proof of a racist agenda. Mixed ethnicity persons aren’t typically referred to in this way. It serves the purpose of the situation, to promote the concept that the evil white man killed the defenseless black boy. It’s a rarity, of course. The vast majority of crimes against blacks are committed by other blacks. Conversely, by the percentages, there are more violent crimes committed against whites by blacks than by whites. (I am not referring to domestic violence in this, just to be clear.) But what does the NAACP focus on? Instead of focusing on preventing those violent crimes in the first place, they call attention to a single case.
And they don’t worry too much about being accurate. They don’t mention that they already knew Zimmerman before this happened, or if they didn’t, they should have. Why? He was apparently the only non-black person in attendance at meetings over the killing of a black homeless man in the area. Zimmerman apparently even helped pass out fliers to call attention to that case. It’s pretty difficult to cast him as an evil racist man, after pointing out that sort of behavior.
Thanks to the NAACP, Zimmerman has been tried and found guilty in the court of public opinion. while it’s unlikely, it should turn into a learning moment for the leaders of an organization that probably lived beyond its usefulness. One shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds it. But who knows? Maybe Zimmerman will be vindicated not only in the Courts, but also in the press. One can hope. In the meantime, we’ll have to see what crime or perceived slight the NAACP will use next to preserve those wedges between the black community and everyone else. After all, they need to keep fighting what is apparently their new cause, since they managed to get rid of “separate but (not-so) equal.” Now, it looks like they’re striving for “separate, and entitled to everything from everyone else.” I guess they figure just plain racial harmony and equality is overrated.
Neighborhood Watch celebrity George Zimmerman graduated from a high school not too far from where I live in Virginia. I certainly hope he made it to the 10–year reunion of the Osbourn Park Class of 2001, because it doesn’t look like he’s going to be attending many in the future.
Not that Zimmerman is necessarily guilty of anything, but after one has been processed by the MSM’s reputation shredder, the thought of appearing in public and defending yourself for the umpteenth time is not appealing.
Particularly when the President joins the race–baiters and says, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Well, Mr. President, if your mother had married a Mexican instead of a Kenyan you would have looked like George. So what?
If only Zimmerman — a Spanish speaker registered as a Democrat — had been marching in a La Raza protest or a Mexicans Without Borders demonstration. Then national Democrats, including the President, would be happy to claim him as their own. But when George made the mistake of getting a concealed carry permit and dabbled on the fringes of law enforcement, Zimmerman became a “white Hispanic” member of the conspiracy designed to keep the black man down.
Why couldn’t Zimmerman have been like those progressive employees at the Apple store in Bethesda, MD. When they heard a woman screaming in the yoga store next door, they had the decency to mind their own dang business. You didn’t see them barging in on what might have been a private matter. They didn’t even tie up valuable public resources by calling 9–1–1.
Wait, maybe that’s a bad example. Jayna Murray died after being stabbed 330 times.
In Zimmerman’s case, there actually was crime in the area he volunteered to patrol. Police records show there were eight burglaries, nine thefts and one shooting in the prior year. Cynthia Wibker, secretary of the homeowner’s association, observed, “He once caught a thief and an arrest was made. (Zimmerman) helped solve a lot of crimes.”
A rule of thumb to remember in these “white Hispanic” vs. black controversies is the first lawyer to get in front of a TV camera is lying. Benjamin Crump and Natalie Jackson, the Martin legal brain trust, prove my point.
Begin with the photo of an angelic Trayvon wearing a red shirt. It’s a great picture, but he was 14 when it was taken. Trayvon was 17 when he was shot, almost 6’ 3” tall and weighed about 150 lbs. He also boasted tattoos, a gold mouth grill and went by the Twitter ID of “@NO_LIMIT_NIGGA.”
Martin was in the neighborhood visiting his father because he was serving his third suspension from high school. This time for possession of a marijuana pipe and an empty baggie with traces of drugs. In October, Martin had been found with 12 pieces of women’s jewelry and a “burglary tool,” but was suspended for a graffiti offense.
Once this information came to light, Martin’s mother complained, “They killed my son and now their trying to kill his reputation.” Which means it’s okay to demonize Zimmerman, but Trayvon should remain beyond reproach.
In lie number two, Crump declares, “We have to maintain over and over and over again that Zimmerman is the aggressor.”
George may have been an annoying busy–body, but he was not the aggressor. Zimmerman left his SUV to follow Martin on foot, but lost sight of him. George had turned around and was walking back to his vehicle when Trayvon sucker–punched him, breaking his nose and knocking him down. Martin jumped on top of Zimmerman and began smashing his head into the sidewalk.
During the assault there was a struggle over the gun holstered at Zimmerman’s waist and Martin was shot and killed.
This brings us to lies three and four. Jackson says, “You hear a shot, a clear shot then you hear a 17-year-old boy begging for his life then you hear a second shot.” There was only one round fired and Martin wasn’t yelling for help either. He was too busy slamming Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk, which produced a cut requiring stitches.
The person yelling for help was George.
Although the Martin legal team has proven they are quite capable of prevaricating on their own, they get help from the media. Early stories claimed the dispatcher told Zimmerman not to follow Martin. What he actually said was, “Okay, we don’t need you to do that.” This is not a command and barely qualifies as a suggestion, but that’s not how the story was covered.
Zimmerman, like the Duke lacrosse players, now has the media baying for his blood and as a result a majority of the public believes he should be arrested. But none of that changes the fact that if Trayvon Martin hadn’t punched George Zimmerman in the nose, he’d be alive today.
It seems that whenever “Rev.” Al Sharpton and “Rev.” Jesse Jackson crawl out from under their rocks they bring this bunch of fools called the “New Black Panther Party” with them. What a bunch of clowns. Where did these chocolate crackers come up with the idea they are the “tough guys on the block”? They prance around with their billy clubs and scowls on their faces talking trash like they are something to fear. The only people they scare are the senior citizens, mostly those above 80, who cannot even begin to defend themselves against a bunch of billy club carrying morons wearing sissy black berets.
Now they have come out with a “Wanted Dead or Alive” poster on George Zimmerman, complete with a huge reward for anyone who will deliver Zimmerman. Well HURRAH!!!! for them. What are they going to do if someone cashes in on this “reward” they are offering? Do they plan to take Zimmerman out and beat him to death? Hang him? Shoot him? Imprison him? What a bunch of boastful B S!!!
If you “tough guys” are such bad asses why don’t you go get him yourselves instead of offering a “bounty” for someone else to do your dirty work? Actually that is a rhetorical question because I know the answer, cowardice. I guess that wouldn’t work out because they would have to step out from behind their mommy’s skirt and do more than talk tough from a safe distance. This is more of the same crap we have heard from this type for years. Like Jackson and Sharpton they come out from hiding to pose for the cameras like they matter, but only when they smell a profit. They don’t really want to do anything other than be seen in public and rake in as much money as possible.
They won’t actually do anything because they don’t care about Trayvon Martin just like they didn’t care about Tawana Brawley, the Duke lacrosse hooker, or any other “black victim of racist attacks”. Of course, most of these “racist attacks” turn out to be a lie anyway but they get their face time on television and then crawl back under their rock until the next opportunity comes around.
Hey Malik Grand Poobah Mohammed (or whatever your stupid name is) I have an idea for you. If you and your sissy boys are so concerned about blacks being murdered, go to Chicago and stop the gang violence there. So far this year, in less than 100 days, 100 blacks have been killed by other blacks in gang related violence. Take your racist attitudes, your sissy black berets, and your sissy billy clubs to Chicago, or Detroit. Do some real good for black people being ravaged by violence instead of posing like statues and talking tough for the television cameras.
These insipid morons don’t really impress anyone, especially white people who know where racism actually lives. Punks like the panthers, Sharpton, Jackson, Spike Lee, and Farrakhan are a dime a dozen. They mean nothing in the long run of American history. They come and go without ever doing any more than lining their pockets at the expense of the victims of real crimes. This showboating over the Florida incident is just that, showboating for publicity.
The real concern for the black community comes from Dr. James Manning, Bill Cosby, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Lloyd Marcus, Alveda King, Herman Cain, and others like them. These people recognize the true problems and seek to solve those problems in a manner that will actually make life better for those living in poverty and in the ghettos. They truly care about the black community. These black leaders, true leaders, try to educate blacks about the true history of America and the legacy of black people in this nation. They explain how to prosper and urge others to make something of themselves, acknowledging the truth of how to succeed in life.
I find it sad that when it comes down to knowledge of the history and heritage of blacks in America this “cracker” knows more than 90% of the black population. How many black people know that the Civil War was fought by white men who were willing to die, and many did, to put a stop to the slavery and exploitation of black men, women, and children? How many black people know that it was southern Democrats who formed the Ku Klux Klan? (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/jimcrow/stories_events_kkk.html ) How many know that it was a Democrat, Governor George Wallace, who stood on the steps of the University of Alabama and stated that “no ‘nigger’ would ever step foot in a white institution of higher learning”? How many black people know that the Jim Crow laws were drafted and passed by Democrats who had control of Congress and that Republicans tried but could do nothing to stop it? How many black people know that the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act were forced through Congress by Republicans and fought vigorously by Democrats such as Al Gore Sr. and Robert Byrd? Lyndon Johnson had fought tooth and nail to prevent similar legislation from being passed while in Congress but signed these as President when he realized he had no other choice, then and only then did he sign the legislation. How many “crackers” have marched, protested, and fought for the civil rights of black people?
It is way past time for black people in America, at least those still blind to the truth, to wake up and realize that I am not their enemy. Jesse Jackson is their enemy, Al Sharpton is their enemy, Louis Farrakhan is their enemy, The New Black Panthers (and the old ones too) are their enemy. We are all being enslaved by those who use race and the Zimmerman/Martin incident to divide us into warring camps. They don’t care about black people, they don’t care about “crackers”; they only care about stirring up strife to benefit themselves financially and politically. Until we all can see what is happening and unite against this tyranny we will continue down the road to despotism, slavery, poverty, imprisonment, and death. As I stated in a previous article, this was a tragic situation that could have been avoided if either one of these young men would have acted differently. It is tragic but I don’t believe it to be criminal on the part of Zimmerman from what I know right now.
Criminal act or not isn’t the most serious issue facing us in this matter. Either way the end result is that We the People, of all ethnic backgrounds, must come together to fight off this attempt by hate mongers to destroy our nation and our ability to live in peace. The race hustlers are after sectarian strife such as we find in the Muslim world. Shiite Muslims kill Sunni Muslims because they aren’t Shiite’s. Sunni Muslims kill Shiite Muslims because they aren’t Sunni’s. We cannot let this happen to America just to provide a payday for the likes of Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan, and these New Black Panther Party sissy boys.

As I read stories and opinions about the death of Trayvon Martin I find myself wondering how so much can go so wrong in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. I can find enough fault on both sides of this tragedy to show the racial hatred being spewed by the usual race baiting hate mongers in the black community to be not only unnecessary but down right evil.
In the first place, George Zimmerman was told by the police that he didn’t need to follow Martin, just give them a description and be available for officers when they got there. I understand Zimmerman’s concern. When help is needed in seconds the police are often minutes, sometimes many minutes, away. Zimmerman stated he was afraid this unknown person would just disappear and the police would find nothing, take a report, and go back to what they had been doing. This happens all too often, especially in cities where police are often overwhelmed with work to do. I am not bashing police here, just making what I believe to be a fair observation. If Zimmerman had done as asked Trayvon Martin would be alive today.
On the other side of this coin are Trayvon Martin’s bad decisions. I imagined myself in this situation and asked myself, “What would I do?” if faced with being followed by an unknown person with unknown intentions. My first thought was not “to hide around the corner of a building and attack the follower when he rounded the corner”. My first thought was to get to where I was going as fast as possible. If I was not able to accomplish that before being overtaken the next choice is to find a suitable place to hide and dial 911 for help. Under no circumstances would I go on the offensive when an unknown person, who could be armed, was following me and I had no idea why. Martin’s actions were ill-advised at best, and stupid at the worst. Martin had a cell phone. Why wasn’t he calling 911 to report he was being followed by a possible assailant instead of talking to his girlfriend?
The combination of bad decisions by both of these men resulted in an unnecessary death. I understand the hurt of the parents; I know the pain of losing a son too early in life. This was a totally senseless situation brought on by bad decisions on both sides of the coin. Enough said about this, now on to the larger tragedy here.
As soon as reports of this tragedy came out, Al Sharpton, smelling a profit, crawled out from under his rock to do his usual stirring up of racial hatred before knowing any facts in the incident. George Zimmerman sounds like as white a name as I have ever heard but is he? Well, partly. It seems, now that we have more information, that he is a multi-racial Hispanic. But this information doesn’t really matter to me, as it doesn’t matter to the race baiters. The “it doesn’t matter”, however, comes for different reasons.
Race isn’t an issue to those of us who see other Americans as Americans instead of seeing race as does Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Spike Lee, the Black Panthers, and other race baiting hate mongers. We now have the Black Panthers offering a $1 million reward for Zimmerman’s head. Isn’t solicitation to commit murder a crime in America? Spike Lee has tweeted Zimmerman’s address. If Zimmerman is assaulted will Eric Holder’s “Justice Department” charge the Black Panthers and Lee as an accomplice or accessory to an assault or murder? Not likely!!!
I wonder where all of these “concerned citizens” were last week when a 90 year old white man and his 85 year old white wife were attacked in their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma by a young black man and unknown accomplices. The woman (again, 85 years old) was raped and beaten to death. The man is clinging to life in ICU at last reports. Where are the $1 million dollar offers from the Black Panthers? Where is Al Sharpton and his megaphone? Where is Jesse Jackson to offer financial help to the family of this couple as he did in the Duke Lacrosse case? Where is Spike Lee to tweet this animal’s home address for the angry mobs to go kill him? Where is Barack Obama and his condemnation of black violence against whites? Remember Eric Holder saying black on white violence would not be investigated by the same “Justice Department” who is jumping through hoops to convict Zimmerman before the sun rises tomorrow?
Last week I read a story from Chicago about a 6 year old boy killed as a result of gang violence, and a 1 year old clinging to life by a thread from the same shooting. This was black gang members trying to kill a rival, but killing babies instead. Where are the Black Panthers? Where is Al Sharpton? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is the $1 million reward for the heads of those who hurt these innocent children in an indiscriminate shooting? Where is Spike Lee and his Twitter account when needed?
Several years ago we had the Tawana Brawley incident. She reported that white men raped her, smeared feces on her, and repeatedly called her “nigger”. After Al Sharpie crawled out from under his rock to drum up money for himself he found out it was all a lie. Did he apologize? Did he give the money back? No, he just stirred up unnecessary racial hatred, raked in his millions, and crawled back under his rock until the next opportunity arose.
Remember the Duke Lacrosse case a few years ago? A black prostitute claimed she was raped, beaten, and called “nigger” by white members of the Duke Lacrosse team. Along came Jesse and Al to the rescue. As it turned out, after the flames of racial hatred had been fanned to a roar, the entire story was found to be a huge lie. Even the District Attorney in the case did everything he could to profit politically, from a case he knew was a lie. Once again, Jesse and Al raked in their millions and crawled back under their rocks to await the next incident they could use to fan racial hatred and make a few million dollars for themselves.
And once again Barack Obama, the Usurper in Chief, has jumped into the fray to stir up racial hatred and try to gain some votes without knowing the facts. Remember the famous “beer summit” that resulted when the cop wanted to know why the college professor, who was reported by neighbors to be breaking into a house, was there? It turned out the house belonged to the professor and he had lost his key or left it somewhere. All the policeman did was his job, but he was turned into a monster by the same race baiting hate mongers we have seen so many times before. What if that had been a mugger breaking into the house of an elderly woman with no protection other than that policeman? Oh well, the white guy has to be wrong regardless of the facts. And the racism is where?
Obama was to be the first “post-racial” president, but alas, that hasn’t happened. Racial polarization is worse than it has been since the 1960’s. White people voted in droves for a black man, or half black, to prove they weren’t racists. Instead of pointing out the fact that white voters seem to be over racism he makes racial strife the keynote part of his agenda. Instead of taking the moral high ground and urging people to look at this as a tragedy that resulted from a set of preventable circumstances on both sides, he jumps in with both feet to help Al Sharpie & Company fan the flames of racial hatred. Obama has shown himself to be as racist and as much of a hate monger as the “Justice Brothers”.
All of these men call me a racist and a hate monger because I am white and believe in finding the facts first. You were able to see my view on this at the beginning of this article. What is the difference between my approach and that of the blacks who are raising so much hell about this Florida shooting? Am I or other white people out in the media calling for riots over the attack, rape, and murder of that elderly white woman by a young black man in Oklahoma? No, of course not. That would be an asinine and wrong stand to take. If I offered $1 million for his head would that be racist?
Racism is alive and well in America but it isn’t the whites who are stoking the fires of racism, or even committing racist acts. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Spike Lee, Louis Farrakhan and other liberals can’t open their mouths without fanning the fires of racism, and doing it to make a profit for themselves. They don’t care about the black community. These people only care about the money they make off of racial hatred.
The fact that Barack Obama does the same thing on a regular basis (African-Americans for Obama campaign ads, for instance) is not only an act of racism against We the People, it is detrimental to our nation. It is even more detrimental to members of the black community. Blacks are being used by profiteers. This kind of rhetoric is not conducive to a harmonious future in America. The divide and conquer tactics of these people are intended to enslave all ethnic groups, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, etc. equally.
The only way to overcome the tactics of division are for We the People to unite in rejecting those who divide us. God made all of us and all of us need to come together against the strife spread by the agents of Satan. We can come together, One Nation Under God, or we will live as one nation under tyrants. The choice is ours. As for me and my house, we choose One Nation Under God. My heart goes out to both families in this tragedy. Let’s not waste our time ripping each other apart for no good reason. Let’s unite, under GOD, against those who use tragedies like this one for profit and to divide a nation unnecessarily.

There are many things that America’s news media seemed to get wrong when it came to informing our public. As of the time this conversation was recorded, there had been rallies and riots and even rewards for the capture of George Zimmerman, but there were still very few facts, and many questions had gone unanswered.

Racism in America is an emotionally explosive subject not well-disposed to cool, rational discussion. The tragic shooting of a young man in Florida named Trayvon Martin has given rise to passionate calls for massive protests by all-too-familiar civil rights activists. The professional traders in racial antagonism claim to speak for a monolithic block called “the black community,” which presumes there can never be any long-term reconcilement between individual citizens of all skin colors in a truly diverse and racially tolerant American society. Such a future would assume unity around something other than race, such as a shared vision to promote the value of freedom, so vital to our country’s prosperity and generosity of spirit.
The radical left has successfully used race to distract Americans from the worthy goal of liberty, because its underlying animation is power. The rationale for such power may be to transform the world into a more equitable and socially just place; but the power to create such an imagined world entails the power to destroy the old one. The relics of the past world must therefore be swept away in the public mind, the left believes, so that mankind can be reformed; and if the Enlightenment philosophy that provided the germ of emancipation proved too potent in laying to waste the sources of oppression, then statists must erect new shibboleths to spur social tensions, thus providing their radical leftist associates with the opportunity to posture themselves as our emancipators. The shackles of state dependency and repression are nonetheless hammered out in the heat of our incendiary social conflict.
For this strategical maneuver to be successful, leftists must constantly level charges that the ‘white right’ is intrinsically and irredeemably racist. These accusations are nearly always unfounded, unprovable, and undeniable. They therefore stoke agitation through confirmation bias among radicals and their adopted minorities, and also stir up irrational counterattacks from the falsely accused. Once insinuated in the public mind, racial animosity can become a perpetual mechanism of mutual hatred, which can spin out of control into open violent conflict. Stage left: Enter the state to save us from ourselves.
The nation’s racial wounds, scraped bare by community organizers of Barack Obama’s ilk, were thus argued to be critically in need of salve. Such was the ideological backdrop that placed Barack Obama center stage in a mass media-contrived drama to redeem our country from its bleak history of racism, slavery, and black oppression. Never mind that the country was one of the first in the world to ban the import of slavery, fought a bloody civil war in part over the issue, and has steadily marched forward to universally apply the vision of The Founders that individuals have certain inalienable rights. The only way for us to wash clean the ‘damned spot’ of slavery was by electing a mysterious savior, one whose blank slate of mixed racial heritage allowed us to project upon him our national hopes of transcending the issue once and for all. But that naive hope among the ‘white guilt’ liberal segment of the population proved to be misplaced. Electing a president of mixed racial ancestry has done nothing to bring so-called whites, blacks, and hispanics together. On the contrary, the president has fueled racial resentment, and this is due mainly to his seeing the world through the lens of “Critical Race Theory.”
The left obviously would never admit to such a connection, just as they vehemently deny any significance of Barack Obama lauding the Critical Race Theory scholar Derek Bell while at Harvard or Mr. Obama including Bell’s work in his college syllabus on “Currents Issues in Racism and the Law” while he was an instructor at the University of Chicago. A balanced approach to examining Obama’s syllabus shows a tendency to focus on the “issues” of racism without the broader historical backdrop of the nation’s founding or the significance of the Enlightenment philosophy that played such a critical role in slave emancipation worldwide. Instead, the syllabus begins its “Historical Foundations” section with “Indian Removal,” and proceeds through “Slavery,” then “Reconstruction, Retrenchment, and Jim Crow,” and finally, “Black Responses.” What is mainstream in academia today, due in part to ignorance of the destructive nature of Critical Theory, is a historically and intellectually one-sided attack on the United States and on its exceptional value of human liberty.
A primary source on Critical Theory, Max Horkeimer’s and Theodore Adorno’s Dialectic of Enlightenment, gives an excellent, albeit convoluted, exposition of how it works:
Despite its great accomplishments, only power can commit injustice, for only the executed judgment is unjust, not the lawyer’s unexecuted plea. Only when discourse aims at oppression, defending power instead of powerlessness, does it contribute to the general wrong. But power, one-sided reason now whispers, is represented by human beings, By exposing the former, you make a target of the latter. And after them, worse perhaps will come. The lie speaks truth. When fascist murderers are waiting, one should not incite the people against the weak government. But even the alliance with the less brutal power does not imply that one should keep silent about infamies. The likelihood that good causes might be damaged by denunciation of the injustice which protects them from the devil has always been outweighed by the advantage the devil gains if the denunciation of injustice is left solely up to him. How far must a society have sunk in which only the scoundrels still speak the truth — and Goebbels reminds us that the lynch mob is still happily at work. Not the good but the bad is the subject matter of theory. (Emphasis my own, p. 181.)
The seductive but cognitively discordant passage, written in the signature Marxian style of slaughtering reason while sounding reasonable, provides a serpentine rationalization for Alinskyite radicals to unscrupulously mobilize power to counter-attack injustices that are defined and even contrived by the left themselves. The left will thus always provide an excuse to stoke and harness racial hatred to attack supposedly ubiquitous oppression, even while conjuring up anecdotes to falsely misrepresent “the system.” In reality, those on the left are merely turning individuals with dark skin against individuals with white skin for the cynical purpose of accruing political capital.
The question is thus begged: What is the left’s definition of justice implied with the critical race theory worldview? State-administered vengeance, where the scales of justice are perpetually adjusted according to the superfluous standard of skin pigmentation. What are the terms of social equilibrium? A racial admixture in society that is balanced and stable? Critical theory is mute on such ideological matters, just as it is mute on the question of “what is the good?” The theory’s aim is to destroy, not to promote the good; unless one holds that the good is the moral inversion of the world as it is. Peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.
If one understands the workings of Critical Theory (and its subset, Critical Race Theory), one will never be fooled by the left or misled into rhetorical blind alleys. The diversionary tactics of the media, the three-card monty of perpetual race-baiting, the baby games of Alinsky ridiculing of opponents, will all be flushed into irrelevance in one’s mind where it belongs. But unfortunately, the consequences of the public falling for the left’s racial warfare, which has devolved into a proxy struggle for the war on the free enterprise system, liberty and limited government, are utterly grave in importance.
The left is deadly afraid that the right will eventually connect the dots on its critical theory gambit. For a related example, the use of the women’s movement to promote the public financing of condoms was ridiculed in Alinsky fashion by Rush Limbaugh. When the talk show host satirically compared the spokeswoman for all women to a “slut,” he was immediately blitzed by a Media Matters for America orchestrated campaign to silence him. Cries of “Kill Rush Limbaugh!” on YouTube show how desperately the left fears that the right will catch on and use their own tactics against them. Leftists must perpetually play the victim, even as they wantonly attack the values of the country; and Democrat operative Sandra Fluke was the sacrificial virgin to play such a role.
So when the leftist media found a victim fitting the right racial profile, they pounced. The president was provided the cultural terrain in which he could give a speech on the Trayvon Martin shooting, making an unnecessary statement on the teenager’s race that “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Newt Gingrich was right to point out the needlessly racialized component of the president’s overall “unifying” speech. President Obama is supposed to be the chief citizen of all Americans, and not the spokesman for “the black community” or any other particular community. But the American dream of the post-racial black president was just that: a dream.
That there is such a gulf between the Critical Race Theory vision of Barack Obama and that of Martin Luther King Jr., who hoped that one day people “would not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character,” is something the left is desperate to conceal. The mentioning of the lunatic ravings of sermonizing race-baiter Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s pastor for twenty years, was said during the 2008 campaign to be off-limits. Early on in his administration, we were supposed to have a beer with Officer James Crowley after he was called out nationally for his having “acted stupidly” in the rightful arrest of black civil rights attorney Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
The radical left and its associates in the mainstream media now urge us not to make anything of the president speaking at a 2007 engagement involving the New Black Panther Party, the same NBPP that has recently floated a sizable bounty for the “capture” of Trayvon Martin’s alleged shooter George Zimmerman. The same NBPP that called for “Cairo-style” riots in 2011, and have been presumably waiting for the opportune time, or perhaps even the go-ahead signal from the media, to mobilize one. Such would not be a surprising turn of events under a community organizer-turned-president who stated that the members of the Occupy Movement were the reason he ran for office. The left’s reaction to videos that show NBPP members teaching violent “black survival tactics” to youngsters is thus to trot out a presentable spokesman, as Alinsky advised, to speak in dulcet tones about the group’s admirable aims. Yes, this is the same NBPP whose members were exculpated from all wrongdoing by Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice, in a case noted civil rights attorney Bartle Bull called “the most blatant case of voter intimidation” he had ever seen.
When confronted on wrongdoing, including high-ranking knowledge of the exposed Fast and Furious operation in the Department of Justice, Eric Holder predictably tried to deflect attention by accusing his questioners of racist motives. This would presumably make Holder the victim in a scandal where a U.S. government operation to traffic guns to Mexico resulted in thousands of deaths, including the killing of an American border patrol agent. We are supposed to ignore the repeated examples of race antagonism by the president and his administration, and white people are to presume their own guilt for even thinking anything untoward of such inherently admirable individuals, whose unimpeachable virtue is that they were born with a specific skin color.
While overt racism did exist in the United States for much of its history, and darker-skinned people of African heritage did suffer inexcusable injustices, this deplorable legacy was the consequence of an egregious and intellectually dishonest double standard applied by the majority of citizens to their fellow human beings. It was not an inherent flaw of the Natural Rights philosophy that animated the American revolution and championed the essential equality of all people.
When Thomas Jefferson penned the immortal words in The Declaration of Independence that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” he was not excluding the equality of slaves of African heritage from his thinking. Although his personal holding of slaves represents a conflict between his idealized view for humanity and his transgression in the real world, Jefferson brilliantly articulated the agenda to eventually see all men become free. Truly radical for his age, Jefferson originally proposed to condemn the entire practice of slavery in the original drafting of The Declaration. Eleven of thirteen colonies agreed with him; but alas, the passage was not entered into the agreed-upon version.
It took two centuries for the nation to overcome its legacy of slavery and legal bias towards blacks, but the left is not content to left the issue be resolved through national unity because it politically has so much at stake in keeping us divided. The radical left preys upon the visual circumstances of racial differences by twisting them into de facto evidence of racism under the condition of inequality. But the left has done more to promote inequality in the black segment of the population through its purposeful perpetration of welfare dependency and its subsidization of self-destructive behavior than the free market ever has. To argue contrary would be racist in one’s presumptions that individuals are inherently unequal by race and can’t compete in a level economic playing field. Previously discriminated against peoples, such as Catholics, Mormons, Irish, Germans, Italians, the Chinese, and other immigrants, prove otherwise how individuals can overcome the animosity of other Americans to attain to the middle class lifestyle.
But the radical left does not want the narrative of immigrants and black Americans overcoming adversity told because the hard left doesn’t believe in the American Dream of working hard, supporting one’s family, and aspiring to personal happiness. Leftists seek a world dominated by the state, one where everyone is dependent upon the social engineers for one’s daily bread, or whatever else the statists deem just. In order to reach such an end-point, the institutions of liberty must be deconstructed, including all those conducive to self-reliance, initiative, and independence from the state. If the statists on the left can frame such a drive as “progress” towards ultimate freedom or racial justice or economic equality, that is what they will do. But it our duty as Americans to keep focus on what really matters: liberty, individual rights, and limited government.
Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by Mr. Zimmerman as a result of a violent altercation and it is igniting another Obama-led, Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson inflamed national tirade about white-on-black crime. Of course, the President and the media ignore the disparity between white-on-black violence and other violence.
When a black person kills a black person, it’s commonplace and not news. Nothing to see here, please move along.
When a black person kills a white person, it’s just how things are today, not really worth reporting as a major story, just report it as another murder.
When the rare event of a white person (although in this case George is hispanic) affronting, injuring or killing a black person is discovered.. it makes national headlines, receives personal comment from the President of the United States, is used as a rallying cry for civil rights activists and anti-gun organizations and is a CALL TO ARMS for race-based militaristic activities by so-called leaders like Farrakhan.
The President reacted to Martin’s shooting in days. When a young caucasion child was doused with fuel and lit on fire by black guys that were yelling, “you’re white! This is what you deserve!!” .. no outcy. Media coverage was present, but minimal. The public outcry.. non-existent. And:
- the President said .. NOTHING until a month later and simply referred to it as a “local matter” (why isn’t Zimmerman’s issue “a local matter”?)
- Louis Farrakhan said .. NOTHING .. at all
- Jesse Jackson said … NOTHING .. at all
- There was no call to arms by Caucasian rights groups
- No bounty was put on the black teens’ heads
Jesse Jackson is calling for the repeal of Florida’s “stand your ground” law which allows people to use lethal force when acting in self-defense. Oddly enough, Florida’s Governor said that the “stand your ground” provision doesn’t even apply since Zimmerman initiated the contact so the anti-gun zealots are truly politicizing the event to progress their oppressive agenda – their stance has nothing to do with Trayvon other than trying to raise him up to martyr status for the progressive cause.
American Islamic leader Louis Farrakhan is encouraging vigilante justice against the man that shot Trayvon as he tweeted about the incident “Soon the law of retaliation may very well be applied.”
Spike Lee retweeted Mr. Zimmerman’s home address multiple times on twitter in a manner that would seemingly call his followers to do something with that address – something untoward.
The New Black Panthers have put a bounty on George Zimmerman’s head. Anyone that “captures” Zimmerman “dead or alive” will receive $10,000.00.
Remember when Obama arranged a beer summit after declaring police had acted stupidly? You know, when they challenged one of Obama’s Professor friends from entering his own home based on the fact that he was trying to open the door without a key. No shots were fired, no one was harmed, but we still had a several week National Conversaion on Race after the event. Where is our national conversation, hosted by the President, now?
Now that the President could take the lead to calm things down in rising tide of calls for race-based crimes by so-called civil rights leaders, he didn’t. President Obama instead decided to politicize and use it to push his own anti-gun, anti-American agenda. Instead of calling out Farrakhan, Jackson and the New Black Panthers and asking for calm while the investigation continues, Obama said that if he had a son, he might look very much like Trayvon.
We do not have all the facts and cannot discern what may have happened to cause death of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman may have been acting in a lawful manner to protect himself, Zimmerman may have acted criminally and could face a long jail sentence or something in-between where both men acted irrationally and someone was going to get killed either way.
Eye witness reports are now attesting that the screams and pleas for help were from Zimmerman and that Martin had Zimmerman on his back on the ground. I wonder how much news there would have been if a hispanic man (George Zimmerman) had been beaten to death by a black teenager (Trayvon Martin)?
If Zimmerman had not been armed, this very likely would have put Martin in prison for the rest of his life, left Martin dead and been nothing more than a blurb on the 10 o’clock local news. No Farrakhan, no Jackson, no Obama – nothing to see here folks – please move along.
Recently, the Huffington Post Enquirer ran a post regarding the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, entitled Trayvon Martin Case: ‘Stand Your Ground’ Law At Center Of Shooting. The unwritten implication of this article is that enhanced self-defense laws, such as Florida’s, grant protection to murderers.
The left have already begun spinning this killing into an attack on Republicans. Note, for instance, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski making a sloppy attempt to connect this shooting to Rush Limbaugh. Jay at The Right Sphere reports Media Matters has already begun spinning this tragedy for political points in a number of posts.
Let’s debunk the assertion that Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law somehow protected Zimmerman. To do so, we need to examine the 2006 changes to Florida’s Justifiable Use Of Force law, specifically, the portion contended here- Zimmerman’s immunity from criminal prosecution:
776.032 (1) A person who uses force as permitted (…) is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force (…) As used in this subsection, the term “criminal prosecution” includes arresting, detaining in custody, and charging or prosecuting the defendant.
(2) A law enforcement agency may use standard procedures for investigating the use of force as described in subsection (1), but the agency may not arrest the person for using force unless it determines that there is probable cause that the force that was used was unlawful.
Stated in plain English, Florida requires police officers to establish probable cause before arresting someone for using force in self-defense. This is a far cry different from HuffPo’s claim:
The Florida law lets police on the scene decide whether they believe the self-defense claim. In many cases, the officers make an arrest and leave it to the courts to work out whether the deadly force is justified. In this case, however, police have said they are confident they did the right thing by not charging 28-year-old George Zimmerman.
The failure, then, isn’t with the “Stand Your Ground” law- a point which even Al Sharpton concedes- but with the failure of Sanford police to thoroughly investigate the shooting. The recording of Zimmerman’s 911 call alone debunks his self-defense claim. From Doug Mataconis’ excellent article:
The police on the scene appear to have reached the conclusion that Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense, but the 911 calls from that night raise some doubt about just how much danger Zimmerman was actually in, and the extent to which he may have pursued Martin despite being told by a 911 operator not to do so.
Rep. Dennis Baxley, the author of the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law, wrote this op-ed for FOX News, summing up the issue thus:
Mr. Zimmerman’s unnecessary pursuit and confrontation of Trayvon Martin elevated the prospect of a violent episode and does not seem to be an act of self-defense as defined by the castle doctrine. There is no protection in the “Stand Your Ground” law for anyone who pursues and confronts people.
The “pursue and confront” phrase is especially applicable here: While Florida has a very well-written and well-articulated law on self-defense, it is one of the few states which has no statute authorizing private persons to use force to pursue and arrest fleeing criminals. Even if Florida did authorize this use of force, however, Zimmerman still wouldn’t be justified, because Martin had committed no crime.
The anti-gun crowd, however, never let facts or the law stand in the way of their political agenda.
This law, championed by Republicans and vilified by Democrats, was contentious when it was passed in Florida in 2006; now there’s a murdered boy, and a wrongful claim of self-defense. This is an election year, and the Democrat attack machine feeds on accusations that Republicans are “bitter clingers” and racists.
Take this for what it is: the Democrat attack machine working to make all Republicans look like George Zimmerman’s accomplices and enablers.
