GOP Adopts 95% of the ‘Freedom Platform’

While the Republican Party and the Tea Party are still two vastly different factions, the Republicans Party is beginning to accept some of the grassroots ideals of the Tea Party. For the first time the Republican Party is accepting official party planks from grassroots organizations.RNC 2012

Last week, it was released that the GOP had accepted 11.5 of 12 planks which were part of the Freedom Platform, a platform developed straight from the people and the grassroots organization, FreedomWorks. The Freedom Platform embraces all forms of Conservatism and limited-government.

FreedomWorks asked their activists to go online and participate in a survey. In that survey they were asked to choose between two randomly selected policy-based questions. From the selections of close to 1.2 million people, and town-hall meetings with activists across the country, the Freedom Platform was developed. This ensured that the platform would include all of the policies that represented the grassroots.

Matt Kibbe, President and CEO of FreedomWorks, in a recent FoxNews column:

The GOP platform will include almost every plank of the crowd-sourced Freedom Platform. In
other words, 95 percent of the grassroots’ top priorities are being adopted as priorities for the
Republican Party.

Thanks to the efforts of an engaged fiscal conservative constituency, Republicans have
committed to repeal ObamaCare and pursue patient-centered reforms that return the decision-
making power from the government back to doctors and patients. The Republicans are
also committed to stopping the impending tax hikes, reversing the Obama spending spree,
implementing accountability for balancing the budget, and restoring fairness to our tax system
by pursuing a flatter tax.

Mirroring the Freedom Platform, the GOP platform strongly rejects cap-and-trade, protects
small businesses from the Environmental Protection Agency’s costly over-regulation, and
commits to unleashing America’s vast domestic energy potential. The Republican platform also
pledges to institute an annual audit of the Federal Reserve.

The only element of the Freedom Platform the GOP didn’t accept was the proposal to eliminate
the Department of Education. This proposal was actually a major plank of the Republican
platform from 1980 to 2000, until then-Gov. George W. Bush had it removed. Even so, the 2012 platform contains good language on the need for local control of education, as well as a very strong endorsement of school choice, both of which are key reforms supported by grassroots conservatives nationwide.

The 2012 GOP platform isn’t perfect by any means, but it represents significant progress within
the Republican Party in recognizing the importance of embracing bold, fiscal conservative
solutions for our nation’s myriad problems. While the Republican Party’s new platform reflects
well on its willingness to take a stand for principled policies, it also says a lot about how the Tea
Party has grown in lasting political influence.

No longer “just” a massive protest movement or even a well-oiled “Get out the Vote” machine,
the Tea Party has matured into a strong, focused policy powerhouse. The success of the Freedom Platform should forever put to rest the ridiculous notion that Tea Party conservatives
are incapable of engaging in the mainstream political arena without compromising their
principles. Grassroots conservatives stood firmly behind principled policies, and the Republican
Party listened.

This victory doesn’t mean the bottom-up campaign of individuals for sound economic policy
is over. Tea Partiers are still wary of the establishment, and no political party can ease the
grassroots into complacency with platform promises.

Finally the time has come that the Republican Party, a party which by all accounts in full of Progressive-lites, has finally taken a major step toward true fiscal and social Conservatism by adopting 95% of the Freedom Platform. While we should be excited that the GOP has adopted these planks, we shouldn’t let our guard down. We must make sure that the GOP and the Republican leaders follow through.

Bob Beckal Drops the F-Bomb Again

Bob Beckel co-host of The Five on Fox News Channel

It wasn’t the first time, and it probably won’t be the last time, but co-host of The Five on the Fox News Channel, Bob Beckel dropped the “f-bomb” on live television, again.

During a panel discussion about Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to reform Medicare, fellow co-host Eric Bolling hit Beckel in the arm.

Beckel immediately stopped talking, and moments later had his “lapse of common sense”.

“If you do that one more time, you’re f**king toast!” Beckel screamed at Bolling, then immediately covered his mouth when he realized what he just said.

Bolling and the rest of The Five co-hosts continued on with their point, but it was as if no one was listening. Everyone was still shocked with Beckel’s on-air foul. Unlike the first time Beckel dropped the “f-bomb” on live tv, Beckel apologized under his own power at the end of the segment, and again at the end of the show.

At the beginning of the next segment, Bolling came on air apologizing for hitting Beckal hard in the arm and instigating the situation.

Then at the end of the show, Beckel added $20 into his swear jar, then Bolling threw in $100 because he felt responsible for the whole fiasco.

Justice Scalia: Guns Can Be “Regulated”

Scalia-Fox-News-Sunday-300x210

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia sent a chill through the spines of conservatives with a foreboding warning about the government’s power to “regulate” what he referred to as “menacing” hand-held weapons.

Scalia’s comments elicited a furor at the website National Journal, where many weighed in to register their disgust at the possibility of another “conservative” justice betrayal. Supreme Court Justice John Roberts  appeared poised to strike down the individual mandate of the Obamacare legislation in late June 2012, but apparently sided with the liberal wing at the last moment.

Appearing in an interview given by Mike Wallace that is to be aired on Fox News Sunday, the originalist stalwart had the following comments:

[Whether or not government can ban high volume magazines and “assault” weapons] will have to be decided in future cases… But there were legal precedents from the days of the Founding Fathers that banned frightening weapons which a constitutional originalist like himself must recognize. There were also “locational limitations” on where weapons could be carried.

Several commenters at National Journal rightly rebutted Scalia’s opinion by pointing out the subjective nature of basing law on what liberals perceive as “frightening” or “menacing,” including hand-held weapons. There were other causes for concern with Justice Scalia’s comments.

Instead of basing his reasoning on inalienable individual rights, such as the rights to private property and self-defense, Scalia expounded on particular 18th century gun practices that preceded the ratification of The Constitution. From this exercise in historical exegesis, he leapt to the conclusion that the several states had the authority to “regulate” the citizens’ right to keep and bear arms.

Scalia thus hedges the recent case record that the Second Amendment is incorporated and binding on the states, which was established in the 2010 Supreme Court case McDonald vs. Chicago that struck down local gun control laws. That followed upon the related gun control case District of Columbia vs. Heller, which also struck down gun regulations.

The record of the Roberts’ course had seemed to be strong on both gun control and free speech issues before the Obamacare case debacle. Roberts’ capricious minimalism (the tendency to yield to the legislature on Constitutional interpretation)  and Scalia’s inconsistency in defending individual rights have many attentive citizens alarmed that gun “regulation” could go the deleterious way of Commerce “regulation.”

Whether or not one agrees with the Constitutional amendment stating that citizens have the right to bear arms, it is empirically rock-solid that citizens’ ability to lawfully carry concealed firearms leads to a 60 percent decrease in multiple-victim public shootings and a 78 percent decrease in victims per attack among the several states.

Nonetheless, the massacre at an Aurora, Colorado theater, a gun-free zone, has given rise to increasingly vocal calls for gun regulations by the Democrat Party. The party even had the audacity to try to slip assault weapons-related gun regulations into an upcoming “cybersecurity” bill, probably after recognizing that the U.S. would not become a party to the UN’s small arms treaty.

Please share this article if you want to alert your fellow citizens about the assaults being made on the Second Amendment!

Lanny Davis Excuses Obama Camp’s Smear of Romney by Comparing to Swift Boat Vets Ad

Lanny Davis

Lanny Davis

Apparently, some Democrats believe the recent string of ads against Romney are justified due to Bush’s Swift Boat Vets back in 2004. Appearing on America’s Newsroom on July 16th, Lanny Davis, a Democratic operative, was shocked that Karl Rove would have such disgust towards this media blitz by the Obama campaign.  Mr. Davis apparently is still waiting for a response from “George Bush in 2004 [since he] didn’t say anything about [the] swift boat ads.”  Nice pivot Lanny.  Perhaps it could be a little payback for Bush’s hazing of Lanny when he attended Yale.

Regardless, it seemed both sides agreed that the comments made by Obama  Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter were way “out of bounds.” National Review editor Rich Lowry was especially upset about this recent development. However, Davis kept going back to 2004’s Swift Boat ads.

LANNY DAVIS: There is no doubt it’s an effort to distract and there is no doubt– I agree with Rich 100% that suggesting it’s a felony is way over the top. And if we stick to the facts Mitt Romney wasn’t running Bain Capital when he was running the Olympics period. Innuendo and suggesting felonies is way over the top. So I agree with that. The American people want to hear about the economy and I agreed with Karl that they are making a mistake not focusing on independent voters whether they’re getting turned off by this food fight. But give me a break, Rich, about outrage and all the adjectives, the swift boats felt betrayed therefore they could lie about John Kerry’s disgusting smears in the swift boat ads. And I didn’t hear Karl outraged about that. Every time I hear you or anybody on Republican side use adjectives about negative ads– I say wait a minute.

No, you wait a minute, Mr. Davis.

First off, this is an extraordinary circumstance.  The Obama campaign is making egregious allegations that Romney is hiding something illegal or he lied on his SEC report.  Furthermore, George Bush never accused his opponent, Sen. John Kerry, for committing a felony. Swift Boat Vets was a 527 group unaffiliated with the Bush campaign.  Stephanie Cutter is senior staff on the Obama campaign.

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Slams MSNBC’s Sneaky Editing of Romney

Screen Shot 2012-06-21 at 9.04.18 PM

Two separate Fox News anchors on Wednesday took NBC and MSNBC to task for liberal media bias and outright deception. Bill O’Reilly slammed the egregious actions of Andrea Mitchell and her selective editing of Republican Mitt Romney.

O’Reilly played MSNBC’s version of Romney mentioning the fast food outlet Wawa and the one that conforms to reality. The host mocked the liberal cable outlet for “doctoring” the tape. Video of both can be found below:

ANDREA MITCHELL, MSNBC HOST: Maybe this was Mitt Romney’s supermarket scanner moment. But I get the feeling, take a look at this that Mitt Romney has not been in too many Wa-was on the roadside of Pennsylvania.

MITT ROMNEY (R), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: I was at Wa-wa’s. I went in to order a sandwich. You press a little — a touch tone key pad, or I did to touch that and you know this sandwich you press, this touch this, touch this. Go pay the cashier there is your sandwich. It’s amazing.

MITCHELL: It’s amazing.

What’s amazing, as O’Reilly stated, is “that [the] tape was edited by Ms. Mitchell’s staff. Mitt Romney’s point was much larger. About how the private sector, Wa-wa, operates as opposed to how the government does things.”  What was cut was Romney’s statement about “people in the private sector learned how to compete. It’s time to bring some competition to the federal government and to get it smaller and ever respondent the customers which are you.”

Guest Lanny Davis, a former top aide to Bill Clinton, stated that Mitchell was probably “unaware”of the cuts.”  However, this pales in comparison to the hyperbole from another NBC anchor, Melissa Harris-Perry, who basically stated that Americans are racist for fighting the war on terror.

In her own words, Perry insisted “what America typically needs emerge and that is racial enemy. Americans in part identify who we are and who deserves what through our notions of whiteness and of the racial enemies that are the non-whites. And in his moment the new racial enemy became not so much Reagan’s welfare queen who was imaginary but instead, this imagined other, that is somehow Muslim or Arab or Sikh or something else.”

She continued this inane liberal study group by saying “we became willing to stomach a kind of horrific racial violence in the name of national security. It’s something that we have been willing to stomach as a people over and over again in our history.”

However, with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt, there seems to be little attention given paid to the event at NBC.

As Fox News’ Bret Baier astutely noted, “NBC Nightly News is playing some serious catch-up, because the network news show has only mentioned the failed gun tracking program “Fast and Furious” once for a few seconds since the scandal broke last year. Keep in mind, Attorney General Holder has testified before Congress no less than nine times.”

An Attorney General of the United States is about to be held in contempt of Congress and NBC is just finding this out now?  It is ironic when the most vilified news network in the country by the political left, also happens to be the only ones doing their job concerning reporting the state of governmental affairs.  However, I guess NBC is so good, they can’t be possibly biased.

Bob Beckel Loses It On Hannity, Yells “F*CK” Live On The Air

bob_beckel

H/T The Gateway Pundit

Bob Beckel wasn’t being very gentlemanly when he appeared on Hannity’s Great American Panel last night. He dropped a major F-bomb live on the air, and refused to apologize.

Update: Unbeknownst to me, there is another video, as so accurately pointed out my gracious colleague, that does show Bob Beckel apologizing. Please see the 2nd video at this link, where, as Mediaite points out, Bob Beckel refused to believe he was on air when he said what he said, but he does eventually apologize.

Unlike what my colleague would have you believe in his post, never once did I refuse to correct my original post; at the time of my post I had not seen the Mediate update, nor did I see the update at The Blaze.

I still stand by my original statement that it was quite ungentlemanly of Mr. Beckel, and it was only after he finally realized he was on air that he apologized. So, as Paul Harvey used to say, that’s the “rest of the story”- the real truth!

Ai Politics, Kira Davis And Alex Kauffman Discuss The Trayvon Martin Case

In this virtual round table discussion, ConservativeDailyNews.com’s Kira Davis and Alex Kauffman call into Ai Politics’s weekend show (Married To The Game) and talk about the Trayvon Martin case.

All three commenters agree that the tragic story of Trayvon Martin’s death is high on emotion and short on facts.  There are many things that America’s news media seemed to get wrong when it came to informing our public.  As of the time this conversation was recorded, there had been rallies and riots and even rewards for the capture of George Zimmerman, but there were still very few facts, and many questions had gone unanswered.

Kira, Ai, and Alex talk about the media’s shortcomings, the senselessness of the the tragedy, and the opportunism of people who have been involved in controlling the conversation.  Listen to this compelling trialogue as three of CDN’s contributors discuss one of the most polarizing and tragic issues facing us right now.

Santorum’s Sweep of 3 [Non-Binding] Caucuses Proves He is the Only Conservative Running?

At least that is what the political operatives were saying last night on Fox News, especially Charles Krauthammer while he was on the O’Reilly show. This comes after CK stated that Santorum is the first “admirably worthy conservative alternative” to Mitt Romney in the Washington Post  back on Jan. 5.  Today, the big political “news” is that Rick Santorum has swept all three of last night’s caucuses/fake [non-binding] primaries in Missouri, Colorado and Minnesota. Brett Bair (also of Fox News) referred to these three caucuse/primary votes last night as non-binding beauty contests, with no actual delegates being won by a victory. For the rest of this week, expect to hear such flowery phrases as “Santorum has gained momentum and could see a campaign fundraising boost”  or  “Santorum is the conservative alternative to Mitt [ Jello} Romney,” blah blah blah.  This is the political dog and pony show of faux sensationalistic media circus acts that sadly passes as news reporting today. Is it any wonder that people are so politically uninformed today that they would elect a junior Senator from the political corruption capitol of the world as the President of the United States on an undefined “Hope and Change” fraud? In a nutshell, yes it does and yes they did.

Mr. Krauthammer is largely considered to be a brilliant political analyst with excellent oratory skills today. Keeping that in mind, how do his “Santorum is a worthy conservative” statements stack up against Senator Rick Santorum’s actual voting record?  Not very well, if you were brave enough to check out the truth in that fact-sheet. Krauthammer appears to have fallen into the exact same category of the once respectable conservative pundit and leftist basher extraordinaire, Ms. Ann Coulter. That would be the “say anything for a buck and to get attention while ignoring true conservative principles” category that Coulter exhibits today in her “vote for the proven conservative Mitt Romney campaign.”  Is she referring to this Mitt Romney,  when she went on her recent tirade of praising Romneycare  after trashing it back in November?  Ann Coulter’s recent flip-flop off the conservative high dive into the “elect the only candidate who is moderate enough to beat Barack Obama” cess pool of say-anything-for-a-buck irresponsibility, is an astounding about-face. When Coulter speaks about the mob-mentality that she has explained in recent books so often, maybe there should be a chapter titled “Us flip-floppers have to stick together.”

As far as Charles Krauthammer goes, he has to try to protect his high-paying, high-wire conservative commentary act [and reputation], while also putting out enough controversial statements, [see Santorum is a worthy conservative above] that gain attention, TV viewers, and readers, to justify his next fat contract with Fox News. The fact remains that, as proven in the above-linked article on Santorum’s voting record, he is a proven big-government conservative. How’s that for the ultimate in oxymorons?

Finally, the only proven conservative in the GOP candidate field, Newt Gingrich is being trampled, lied about, and smeared by the likes of Coulter, Krauthammer and the establishment GOP in true Democratic Attack Machine  fashion.  Is Newt Gingrich really a proven conservative?  This article  shows us just what Gingrich accomplished in a very tough political environment. Despite the D.A.M. lies and misinformation about the balanced budgets during Speaker Gingriches tenure, (which are heavily promoted in most browser searches) this article points  out just why Gingrich is a danger to the old guard, establishment GOP that has had a big hand in our trillion-dollar-deficits.

Amid all the tax-cutting and agency consolidations (in Newt’s plans if elected POTUS) would come a return to a fiscal policy that he said emanates “directly from the Reagan playbook.”

“I think these kinds of steps would move us toward a very dramatic job growth, which is the best way to move towards a balanced budget—by getting people off of unemployment, off of Medicaid, off of food stamps, get them back into earning a living and paying taxes,” he said.

Gingrich wants to limit the size and scope of government, which would cut off the big government grifters entrenched in DC from buying votes and influence with taxpayer dollars. Gingrich also wants to limit the government to spending less what they take in each year, as in creating a true balanced budget, yet the mainstream media talking points never include these important facts.  Our government has gotten so big that we are now approaching $16 trillion dollars in debt, which equals our entire GDP.

Ask Greece how that scenario works out. They too, ignored the serious-minded fiscally conservative candidates for the last 20 years or so, only to elect moderates just like Mitt Romney and numerous” big government conservatives”  like Rick Santorum. Barack Obama has loaded up the back seat of the failed Chevy Volt with our entire economy and will drive it right off the Greek-style debt cliff if given another four years. Electing so-called “electable moderates” and “big government conservatives” will also crash and burn the U.S economy just like the firebomb now known as the Chevy Volt will do, when it plunges off the debt cliff and hits rock bottom.

SOPA/PIPA: “Fairness Doctrine” Tyranny Coming In The Back Door

SOPA/PIPA is another case of government control over what We the People will be allowed to see or hear on the internet. The “Fairness Doctrine” was thwarted by We the People through the outrage expressed to our elected members of Congress, ironically over the internet for the most part, so they have seemingly decided to come in the back door and “protect” us from unscrupulous vendors. That is great to a point but who is going to protect us from the government? Barack Obama and many members of both political parties consider We the People too stupid to know what is in our best interests.

Instead of going after the ISP’s and search engine companies like Google, why don’t they try a novel approach, something that has never been done in modern history? Why not enforce the laws on the books against fraud? I guess that is much too difficult of a concept for politicians to grasp.

This reminds me of gun violence. How do we solve the problem of violent crimes committed with guns? Someone with my apparent lack of intelligence would suggest we imprison the criminals with very long sentences, or just execute them when the crime calls for such punishment. What is the answer the government comes up with? Well, let’s just take guns away from those not committing crimes so we don’t have to be concerned with them killing the criminals. And when government bureaucrats violate the existing gun laws we can promote them and then use those violations as an excuse to continue on our merry gun ban crusade.

These bills aren’t about protecting We the People or legitimate businesses from criminal activity. That can be done by enforcing existing law. This is about controlling what we see, what we hear, and how citizens communicate with one another. The “Arab Spring” came about as a result of dissidents communicating over the internet through social network sites, instant messaging, and texting. The powers-that-be in our government have seen what can happen when people communicate freely and share information. Open lines of communication are a danger to despots and every dictatorship in the world controls the internet access of their subjects.

I remember Obama giving a speech at a college in which he stated that “information is dangerous”. I have always been taught that information and knowledge are invaluable tools to make our lives better. It seems that Obama and most of the members of Congress weren’t taught the same lessons in their younger years. If they manage to get this legislation through they will be able to control everything that crosses our computers.

As the “Fairness Doctrine” sought to control us and make sure we were exposed to Marxist doctrine, this legislation will be used to prevent We the People from having free access to each other and to the information we need to make decisions beneficial to our lives. We will no longer be able to thwart tyrannical legislation, or regulations dictated by bureaucrats, because we will not know about them unless the government deems them safe for public consumption.

I am not surprised to find out that the biggest proponents of this legislation are the major television networks, and include Rupert Murdoch, owner of FOX News. Why would the owner of a “conservative” news network want to prohibit the free flow of information? Shouldn’t FOX News and its owner be in favor of freedom of the press? I guess the reality that they are losing millions of viewers because they don’t tell the truth, don’t tell the whole story on issues, and ignore any story that doesn’t fit their template has alarmed them to the point that it needs to be acted upon.

Internet news sites such as Conservative Daily News, The Drudge Report, The Post & E-mail, and social network sites pass information much faster, more efficiently, and more completely than any or all of the major media networks. With the advent of internet news the major media companies can no longer slant the news to suit their Marxist ideology, nor can the ignore news that is not to their liking or doesn’t fit their agenda.

The free flow of information is critical to any free society. Once a government controls what information citizens have access to tyranny is right around the corner. Iran, China, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela are all dictatorships that keep their citizens enslaved and in darkness by keeping them from the knowledge of how the rest of the world operates. After the uprisings in 2009 Iran clamped down on social network media to prevent dissidents from organizing more protests and other dictatorships have long been bastions of tyranny by preventing any citizen contact with the outside world, or each other.

Obama and his minions have seen what happens to dictators who allow the free flow of information to their subjects. Hosni Mubarak in Egypt and Muammar Kadafi in Libya are prime examples of what happens when dictators allow their subjects to communicate without restrictions. I am curious to see what the future brings to these countries when the Muslim Brotherhood takes over and installs the tyranny of Sharia law on their people. Those who took to the streets for freedom may find themselves under the thumb of rulers just as brutal as those they overthrew in the “Arab Spring” uprisings.

Iran is a good example of an uprising that came about because of internet access and how the government acted to prevent it from happening again. Outside contact has been as restricted by Mahmoud Ahmadinijad and the mullahs as it can be and severe punishment awaits anyone caught communicating without government sanction. The very rulers who turned their backs on freedom seeking Iranians in 2009 now seek to impose the very same restrictions on their subjects, namely We the American People.

This legislation, as usual, is not a partisan attempt at subjugation. This legislation is supported by many members of Congress in both political parties, and who I suspect have no idea what is in the bills. Since they don’t have time to read anything they vote on it is incumbent on We the People to find out what is in the legislation and spread the word of warning through internet news and social network sites.

We must stand up once again to protect the freedoms bought with the blood of generations of patriots from the Revolutionary War to today. If we do not have the courage to stand for freedom, the blood of hundreds of thousands of patriots since 1776 will have been wasted and future generations will be sentenced to a life tyranny, suffering, and poverty. To this cause I pledge “my life, my fortune, and my sacred honor”; to the cause of freedom for future generations. Every American owes their utmost opposition to this legislation in honor of those who have gone before us and for the freedom of those who will follow us.

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.

Bob Beckel: Liberals Created A Dependent Society With Welfare

We live in a world of “Gotcha Journalism” that greases its wheels with quotes like the one in this video.  That is why I’m going to try to share it responsibly.  Bob Beckel, the “resident Liberal” at Fox News, made a startling comment today on The Five.  When briefly discussing entitlements, he said that Liberals had made a “terrible mistake” with things like public housing and welfare, and that they had inadvertently created a “dependent society”.  Video is below.

As a conservative audience, I can see the temptation to jump on Beckel’s quote and exploit it for all it’s worth.  Here we have a Liberal stating point blank that their policies have not only failed, but he’s implying that damage has been done to society.  It’s a pretty damning and powerful statement.

Judging by the reaction I got when I shared this quote on Twitter, there is much to exploit in the video, but… I think there is another powerful statement when you consider the full context of things.  Try, if you can, to imagine this being said on any other network.  You definitely would not have a Liberal admit something like this on MSNBC.  And even a milquetoast network like CNN wouldn’t dare to make such a proclamation.  You only get lucid moments like this on Fox News, and it’s sad.  And I have to say “lucid moments”, because it’s not like Fox is that much above the fray.  They have plenty of partisan reporting on their part too.  It’s just that every now and then, someone has the courage or the ability to speak truthfully, and for that I thank them.

Bob definitely gave the Right Wing something to crow about with this quote, but I also think he gave us, as Americans, something to think about:  If we’re ever going to actually solve some of the problems in this nation, we’re going to have to admit the instances where our side is wrong.
