Tuesday, November 8: Eric Holder To Be In The "Fast & Furious" Hot Seat Again

Attorney General Eric Holder is scheduled to appear again before a congressional committee to answer questions regarding the ongoing Fast and Furious investigation. He has not testified in the investigative hearings since May, when he testified under oath that he had only known about the anti-gunrunning program “a few weeks” before. However, a U.S. Senator told Mr. Holder about the operation a few months before he testified.

The National Rifle Association and 34 House members, including Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Darrel Issa (R-CA), have called for Eric Holder’s resignation. Sources say that there are other lawmakers who want Holder to resign, and it is expected that they could possibly add their voices to the call for his resignation after his testimony.

Tuesday proceedings are intended to find out what Eric Holder knew and when he knew about the gun smuggling operation that has spiraled completely out of control.

Holder’s testimony is expected to start at about 10am ET. To view the proceedings live, go HERE.

The Real Reason for Fast and Furious

Percentage Keeps Dropping

First, the Obama administration (and Hillary Clinton) claimed that 90% of the guns used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States. There was just one problem with the 90% “statistic” – it’s not true. The number of guns arriving in Mexico from the U.S. has been controversial ever since a June 2009 report said that 87 percent of guns seized in Mexico came from the United States. What’s true, an ATF spokeswoman said, “is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S.” In 2007-2008, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced, and of those, 90 percent were found to have come from the U.S. But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.

When that percentage was investigated and eventually discredited, it mysteriously dropped to 70%. The key to understanding the 70% claim is the phrase, “Of the weapons recovered.” The firearms that have been recovered in Mexico represent only a small fraction of the total number of weapons used in criminal activity in the country. But the dropping percentage and facts did not stop Mexican President Felipe Calderon. In June, 2011, he said, “I accuse the U.S. weapons industry of [responsibility for] the deaths of thousands of people that are occurring in Mexico. It is for profit, for the profits that it makes for the weapons industry.”

Now we find that only 17% of guns recovered from Mexican crime scenes can be traced to the U.S. And only 8% of weapons recovered in Mexico came through licensed U.S. gun dealers.

The Real Motive

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) told a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that lax gun control laws was the real problem uncovered by Operation Fast and Furious. “My concern, Mr. Chairman, is there’s been a lot said about Fast and Furious, and perhaps mistakes were made, but I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem. And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything, .50-caliber weapons, sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts, and send them down to Mexico. So, the question really becomes, what do we do about this?” When asked how gun control laws would have prevented the abuses in Operation Fast and Furious when the law enforcement agents responsible for upholding gun laws were the individuals giving the weapons to drug cartels, her staff refused to answer.

During a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, former Assistant Attorney-General Lanny Breuer provided testimony that confirms that the information presented to Congress by the Department of Justice, that guns were not being allowed to walk, was false. But when Senator Feinstein started to question Breuer, her focus was on the ‘need for gun control’ and bans of so-called ‘assault weapons’ rather than on Brewer’s statement. Feinstein wasted no time in zeroing in on the idea that the flow of guns across the border into Mexico from the United States must be stopped. Not only did Feinstein initiate the subject of gun control, she repeated the misrepresentations the Administration used from the beginning to justify its operation in the Gun walker scheme, that the majority of the guns used by Mexican drug cartels come from the United States.

The Real Reason for Fast and Furious

One of the worst aspects of Fast and Furious is that it appears to have been carried out with the intention of increasing border crime and chaos to levels sufficient to persuade Americans to embrace more gun control. In an e-mail, sent in July, 2010, Mark Chat, ATF’s assistant director of field operations, asked William Newell, special agent in charge in Phoenix during Fast and Furious, to pay special attention to multiple long-gun sales at gun stores because the ATF was already “looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long-gun multiple sales.” It appears the passage of more gun control laws was the goal all along. The requirement for a special form on multiple long-gun sales to law-abiding Americans was already being contemplated.

But that’s just my opinion.

The Hangover Strategy

Most people are aware of the phrase “too much of a good thing” and understand its meaning, that excess will do you harm. If you eat too much you may get a stomach ache and if you drink too much you may get a hangover. However, most people probably remain unaware that “too much of a good thing” can be and is used as a political tactic. This is likely the premise of the current Justice Department and ATF scandal, Operation: Fast and Furious.

Fast and Furious’s premise was to allow illegal gun runners to purchase firearms facilitated by the ATF and afterward using the guns to gather intelligence and further evidence against the Mexican drug cartels. Fast and Furious ended in late 2010 after US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was gunned down by one of the thousands of guns that got away. In all, around 2,000 guns were trafficked through Fast and Furious and of them, only roughly 600 have been recovered. In addition to Brian Terry, there have been a number of the guns that have been used in high profile (and otherwise) murders throughout Mexico. Now that Fast and Furious is a full blown scandal and has been exposed, the sinister purpose of the operation is no longer effect. The sinister part of the operation is advocates of gun control, the Obama Administration, creating an environment where acquiring guns is easy for criminals in order to cause havoc and make the public turn on 2nd Amendment freedoms. If criminals (who can’t legally purchase firearms) get a hold of semi-automatic rifles and go on killing sprees, one of the natural reactions of people is to make getting firearms more difficult. And because anyone could be a potential straw purchaser (people who can purchase guns and sell them to those who can’t legally purchase them), that would mean cracking down on all gun owners and buyers. Its actually quite likely that had whistle-blowers not have outed the plan, that the public may have never known. So in effect, there would’ve been calls for stricter gun control laws through a secretly manufactured plan to cause it. While illegal, reckless, and nefarious intentions were on display with Fast and Furious, the hangover strategy can potentially be used to advance the cause of liberty.

Raising taxes on the rich, while economically harmful and perhaps immoral, isn’t something that the public is necessarily against. Most opinion polls say that roughly half the country supports raising taxes on the rich and/or thinks the idea should be considered. Also true is that when polled, most people think the rich should pay around 25% in taxes, a full 10% less than what they already pay (the public generally has no idea what the tax rates are). Similarly, the estate tax is something that people on the left greatly favor and many moderates are on the fence. What isn’t considered is that the estate tax is a double tax, paid the first time when the income is earned or goods are purchased. The estate tax is a proposal in Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto (in other words, has no place in a free society). In 2010, there was no estate tax and in 2011 the estate tax is 35%. When New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner died in 2010, many in the sports world commented that it was a blessing that the ailing owner died this year because had he died during a year with a high estate tax, his family would’ve lost the Yankees. Steinbrenner was the longest team owner in Yankees history and turned the team from a net worth of $10 million to roughly $1.2 billion. Its easy to see why most people were happy the Steinbrenner family retained the ownership of the franchise George rebuilt and took to unprecedented levels. But what about other, less well known family businesses and properties, is it not just as much of a tragedy when they are forced to sell off their assets when the owner dies? Obviously the answer is yes, being as we are all created equal. The best way to turn the public against the estate tax is to have a sympathetic figure die and his family lose their iconic/treasured estate because of the tax. After that, the worst case scenario is the public would support a reduction in the estate tax and the best case scenario would be popular support for eliminating it altogether.

The other recent scenario in which the hangover strategy could’ve been used for good is when Olympic gold medal winner Michael Phelps was in the news for smoking marijuana at a University of South Carolina party in 2009. The British tabloid, News of the World, ran the photo in their paper and the story blew up. Richland County Sheriff’s Office initially talked strongly about prosecuting Phelps before eventually deciding against it for “not enough evidence”. Apparently, “not enough evidence” is sometimes code for “I won’t get re-elected if I go ahead with this”. A national celebrity was at a college party with dozens of people who saw him and there is photographic evidence of it happening. The best way to legalize/decriminalize marijuana would be to have charged Michael Phelps. Despite most politicians not supporting the drug’s legalization, most people concede that prohibition of the substance has failed and that its use isn’t a plague on our society. The public would’ve been outraged at our country’s top athlete and national celebrity having his career permanently tainted and embarrassed at the charge for such a petty crime. Thus, for the greater good, it should’ve been pursued. But because we are all created equal (aside from a few who are above us, apparently), the charge was dropped.

To be perfectly clear, I like Michael Phelps and on a personal level I’m glad he wasn’t charged, that would’ve been ridiculous. The only reason I wanted him to have gotten charged is because I think the prohibition of marijuana is unconstitutional without an amendment and because it shouldn’t be included in the same category as other illicit substances. I don’t like the Yankees and I don’t particularly care for the Steinbrenners, but the Yankees are their franchise and no one should be able to take that from them. Its not about personal preferences, its about what is fair and just. While Fast and Furious’s attempt at the hangover strategy thankfully backfired, it shouldn’t be forgotten or go quietly into the night. We, the freedom loving individuals of this nation, should keep this idea in the back of our minds in case another situation arises. That is, unless we want to continue living in a nation where “we are all created equal” is a mere slogan, not a governing philosophy as it was intended.

The Deaf, Dumb, and Blind Caucus

Has anyone else wondered why there isn’t one single Democrat speaking out against the Solyndra Campaign slush fund scandal that cost taxpayers over half a billion dollars, or is it just me? What happened to the idea of the Democratic Party being “The protectors of the people in America” as EX-Speaker, Nancy Pelosi likes to say? Stealing half a billion taxpayer dollars to give to a proven failing Solar panel company, (who just happens to fill Democratic campaign coffers) is supposed to be protecting the people? Where is the outrage from the Democrats on this issue? Hint: There is none.

How about the silence from the Democratic Party concerning the Fast and Furious government gun-running fiasco? Hundreds of citizens on both sides of our Southern border, along with two border agents, have been murdered with assault weapons that our very own DOJ and ATF allowed to be sold to drug cartels from Mexico. Where is the outrage from Democrats in Congress demanding justice for this case of proven Government malfeasance? There is none.

Where are the demands of the Democratic voters, political operatives and DNC power-brokers for people to be held accountable for these obvious travesties of injustice against the American people today? Again the silence is deafening.

When it comes to the wide-ranging examples of corruption, big government abuse of our Constitution, and over-all illegal activity stemming from the Solyndra pay for play fraud, and the Fast and Furious government assault weapons to drug cartels fiasco, it now appears that the Democratic Party is indeed content to play deaf, dumb and blind. Apparently, so are their supporters that continue to chant “Four more years” while staring in the face of these examples of government abuse. (While also choosing not to speak out against them simply because it is their Party leader, Barack Obama and his appointees that are responsible for these criminal injustices being done to We the people.) People have been murdered by guns sold by our own government and half a billion tax dollars were siphoned into Democratic campaign coffers in another failed green energy scam, yet not one Democrat in Congress has the honesty or integrity to condemn these actions. Maybe they really are the deaf dumb and blind caucus. 2012 just can’t get here fast enough.

In an ironic, perfectly-timed episode of flaming hypocrisy, House Democratic Leaders, Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi just came on CSPAN talking about how they are going to restore the people’s confidence in the United States Congress. Oh really?

Liberals Try To Deflect Attention From Fast and Furious

Same Tactics?

An article by Associated Press reporter Vernon H. “Pete” Yost has recently received much attention because it claims that Operation Wide Receiver, a gun walker operation begun under George W. Bush, used the “same tactics” used in Operation Fast and Furious. Suddenly liberals have become interested in Operation Wide Receiver since the MSM has been forced to cover Operation Fast and Furious and the allegation of perjury against Attorney General Eric Holder.

Operation Wide Receiver Did NOT Use The Same Tactics As Operation Fast and Furious

Did both operations allow straw purchases of guns? Yes, but… the primary difference between Operation Fast and Furious under Obama and Operation Wide Receiver under Bush is that under Obama guns were allowed to go back into Mexico without interdiction or arrests. The “same tactic” was NOT used under President Bush. Project Gunrunner, started as a pilot program in Laredo, Texas, of which Operation Wide Receiver was a part, involved straw purchasers buying weapons, but purchasers were apprehended before crossing back into Mexico or transferring arms to criminals. Straw purchaser arrests and prosecutions have fallen under Obama’s administration, so much so it’s almost as if the Obama Justice Department has no interest in prosecuting illegal straw purchasers.

Operation Wide Receiver Was Different

  1. There was no massive cover-up of Wide Receiver. Although the ATF did not advertise the existence of Operation Wide Receiver, that’s quite different from Obama, Holder, and others who tried to hide the larger and deadlier Fast and Furious operation.
  2. There was actually a serious attempt made to track the Wide Receiver weapons. In the case of Fast and Furious, there was absolutely no effort to track guns. ATF agents have testified they were expressly ordered to stand down when they tried to follow the cartel straw purchasers.
  3. Operation Wide Receiver was shut down after its weapons dropped off the screen and the ATF realized it had blundered. Operation Fast and Furious was shut down because two of its weapons were discovered at the scene of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s murder.
  4. Operation Wide Receiver was less than one-quarter the size of Operation Fast and Furious. Not only was Fast and Furious much larger, but it was only one of several gun walking operations launched by the Obama Administration.

Operation Wide Receiver was a botched law enforcement operation, while the gun-walking programs of the Obama administration were intentionally criminal, and arguably terrorist acts, arming violent narco-terrorists waging war on Mexico, a U.S. ally.

But that’s just my opinion.

Fast and Furious – Eric Holder Caught Lying?

The article by DJ Redman on AG Eric Holder’s latest attempt to get Congressional investigators to leave him alone prompted me to further investigate Holder’s role in “Operation Fast and Furious,” a.k.a. “Gunwalker.”

For a brief history of Fast and Furious, follow the links here, here, and here. Smalgov has also posted an article about Fast and Furious. This article, by Brady Boyd, outlines how the WH and MSM try to play down Fast and Furious as a non-story. DOJ officials have always tried to say that Fast and Furious was corrupted by incompetent supervisors, but that excuse was made inoperative by Sharyl Attkisson, who says “the new documents leave no doubt that high-level Justice officials knew guns were being ‘walked’.” This link, BTW, has the letter written by Holder to which DJ Redman referred.

The Investigation Continues

AG Eric Holder wrote a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of three Congressional committees investigating Fast and Furious. He maintained that he has been “truthful and accurate” about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) operation, and that the rhetoric coming from Republican legislators has been “irresponsible and inflammatory.” His letter follows a series of internal Justice Department memos released this week and show that Holder was informed about the existence of Operation Fast and Furious in early July, 2010.

BTW, this article has a timeline of events outlining Holder’s and Congress’ investigation of Operation Fast and Furious.

Holder testified in May, 2011, before the House Judiciary Committee that he did not learn about the operation until earlier this year. Officials with the Department of Justice (DOJ) say Holder was referring to when he learned about the controversial tactics used. DOJ officials say Holder understood the question from Rep. Darrell Issa, (R-CA) to have been about when the attorney general learned about the controversial tactics, not about the existence of the program. To that statement, Becca Watkins, press secretary for the House Oversight Committee chaired by Issa, said, “He’s either incompetent or he’s misleading Congress.” And, I may add, this is one of Holder’s defenses.

What Did Holder Know and When?

Michael Walther, the director of the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), wrote three memos to Holder in which he mentions Operation Fast and Furious. In one memo, Walther advises Holder that NDIC and a Phoenix drug enforcement task force would assist the ATF with an investigation of a suspected gun trafficker, Manuel Celis-Acosta, being run under Operation Fast and Furious. A copy of a weekly report was sent to Holder on July 5, 2010, from Walther. A paragraph in the report mentions an investigation called “Operation Fast and the Furious.”   [emphasis mine]

On October 18, 2010, Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer wrote a memo to Holder, noting that among the “Significant Upcoming Events” would be an October 27, 2010, indictment of eight individuals involved with trafficking hundreds of firearms to Mexico. “The sealing will likely last until another investigation, Phoenix-based ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ is ready for takedown.”   [emphasis mine]

Holder Testifies To Congress, But Was It Truthful?

In May, 2011, Holder testified before the House Judiciary Committee that he hadn’t learned about Fast and Furious until a few weeks earlier. Congressional investigators released memos sent to Holder in July, 2010, describing Fast and Furious by name. Holder defended himself against allegations he lied under oath to Congress about when he first heard of Operation Fast and Furious, saying his testimony was “truthful and accurate.” Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, have pointed to the memos in suggesting they contradict Holder’s testimony.

Holder rejected claims by GOP congressional leaders who said internal Justice department e-mails addressed to the attorney general indicate that Holder knew about the program well before the time he told the committee in May. DOJ spokesmen claim the officials in internal DOJ emails were “talking about a different case started before Eric Holder became Attorney General,” which is difficult to believe with the comment about “the number of guns that have walked.” There were gun walking operations prior to the Obama Administration, but they were much smaller. Holder’s DOJ increased the number of guns being walked by ten to fifteen times. Previous operations also featured the kind of careful surveillance absent in the Holder operation.

Holder’s Latest Defense

“My testimony was truthful and accurate and I have been consistent on this point throughout,” Holder wrote Friday night, October 7, 2011. “I have no recollection of knowing about Fast and Furious or of hearing its name prior to the public controversy about it.” Holder contends that DOJ memos were part of many reports that are routinely directed to lower-level officials. He also said that none of the memos offered details about the Fast and Furious inquiry. Holder claims that while he received memos about Fast and Furious, they are “actually provided to and reviewed by members of my staff and the staff of the Office of the Deputy Attorney General.”

Conclusion: Holder Is Lying!

But that’s just my opinion.

Holder Pens Letter to Congress : "Nothing To See Hear Folks, Just Move Along"

Attorney General Eric Holder wrote a letter to Congress on Friday, once again denying the seriousness of the Fast and Furious charges that show the ATF selling assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels which resulted in the death of two border agents and hundreds of citizens on both sides of our Southern border. First of all, we must consider both the timing and method of communication chosen by Eric Holder in this desperate attempt to avoid accountability for his incompetence/culpability in this scandal. People have died from the very guns that our government authorized the sale of, and as House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa and House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith have stated on numerous occasions, “ We are going to get to the bottom of this injustice, no matter how long it takes.

Congress was in session all week long and the best Holder can do is to write a letter on Friday ?  This is the same pattern of late Friday document dumps put out by the White House administration when forced to by FOIA requests, in hopes that it will be forgotten/ignored/missed by the media. Many executive orders have also been released on Friday nights in hoping to keep the people in the dark about just what our government is doing. Also of note is the fact that this letter comes one day after Senator Chuck Grassley distributed five memos citing the gunrunner operation by name and which were addressed to… Attorney General Eric Holder in July and August of 2010. So much for Holder’s constant denial that he knew about the gunrunner program, which was also parroted by President Obama in his “pass-my-jobs-bill-tantrum (speech) number 19 this week. Obama trusts Eric Holder, and that means that the public must do so also, evidence be damned. Maybe that is because the White House has been proven to have been briefed about Fast and Furious also.

Holder’s letter reeks of  propaganda-style spin and delusional denial any way you look at it. He is denying Congress the ability to hold those responsible for this travesty of justice accountable. He has shifted  ATF employees close to this scandal to Washington D.C. in an obvious attempt to cover his tracks. A spokesman for Rep. Issa called the letter “unconvincing.”

“If Attorney General Holder had said these things five months ago when Congress asked him about ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ it might have been more believable,” the spokesman said. “At this point, however, it’s hard to take at face value a defense that is factually questionable, entirely self-serving, and a still incomplete account of what senior Justice Department officials knew about gun walking.” (emphasis mine)

Holder is desperate to sweep this scandal under the rug, and it shows by the penning of this letter. Rep. Lamar Smith is now calling for a special counsel to look into this situation and help get to the bottom of it. Issa has demanded a special prosecutor from the DOJ, yet Holder fails to mention that fact in his letter, proving again that this letter is nothing more than an attempt to deny responsibility for his departments actions. He is also seen to be trying to protect Senior Justice department members from the fallout. To add insult to injury in this letter, Holder tries to paint the investigations as some kind of plot to “heap disrespect on our nation’s law enforcement officers.” That ludicrous statement would be laughable if  people had not been murdered by assault weapons that were authorized by our very own government.  Here is how Eric Holder wants the public to view the ATF Fast and Furious investigations:  “The members of Congress that are trying to hold the people responsible for the Fast and Furious perversion of justice are somehow slandering our local police departments across America.” Demanding that Holder and company he held accountable is somehow supposed to be an affront to “all law enforcement across America.” This is nothing more than a simplistic attempt to pressure Congress into dropping the investigations into Fast and Furious.

So why is Holder speaking out, ( in the media on a Friday night) all of a sudden while stonewalling this investigation? Again he wants to use ‘public discourse’ to try to spin this scandal into the famous ” Nothing to see here folks, just move along” method of trying to cover it up. He said Friday, he feels compelled to speak out now because “the public discourse concerning these issues has become so base and so harmful to interests that I hope we all share.”  Harmful to who’s interests Mr. Holder? It certainly isn’t in the public’s best  interest for our government  to be enabling assault weapons to be sold to Mexican drug cartels in any way shape or form here. People have died from these weapons, and what is in our best interest is that the Government  employees in the DOJ, ATF, DHS, etc, be held responsible for this terrible injustice. That means you Mr. Holder, as these actions occurred under your watch at the DOJ.

In the final example of  Holder’s dispicable attempt to deny responsibility for the Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal, Holder says that they did not have any knowledge of supposed “flawed tactics” being used,  and then tries to justify that statement with somehow trying to blame the Bush administration: ” Holder also made a point of noting “the flawed tactics employed” were also used “in an investigation conducted during the prior administration.”   The problem with that nonsensical statement lies in the fact that there are no reports about citizens being murdered by assault weapons that were sold by our government before Eric Holder was appointed as Attorney General by Barack Obama. Tactics and methods of operation are one thing,  people being murdered by assault weapons that resulted from the Fast and Furious government-sponsored gunrunning fiasco is quite another. Eric Holder is a disgrace to the word justice, and not only needs to be fired as Attorney General, but criminal charges must be filed, whether Barack Obama trusts him or not.

UPDATE: Oct 9th 2011- On Fox News Sunday,  Darrell Issa calls for Holder’s immediate resignation, and says he may issue subpoenas soon . NewsMax came out with the update in an article titled:  Pressure Grows for Holder’s resignation: Subpoenas Threatened.

Another Speech to Grow the Economy: You’re Welcome!

The President graced America with another campaign speech from the White House Thursday morning, and this time he took questions.  There was nothing surprising about Obama’s speech.  There was no new information or provoking thought.  It was simply a rehash, not much more than taking all the key words from previous speeches and stringing them together – millionaires and billionaires, fair share, pass this bill, teachers, construction workers, Japanese tsunami, previous administration, etc.  He actually did add two new buzzwords – independent economists.  Yes, Obama wants the hateful Republicans who refuse to pass his totally coherent and viable “jobs” bill to offer their own plan to review by “independent economists”, because “independent economists” all agree that the “jobs” bill is the best thing ever and will heal America’s economy for all time, forever and ever; plus, “independent economists” think Obama is just the bees knees.  He’s super-awesome, super-concerned about the middle class, super-compassionate and super-smart. If Republicans would just get off their high horses and ask “independent economists” , they would understand that.

Obama’s comments were brief and unsurprising.  He spent most of this presser taking questions from the peanut gallery…oops…White House press corp.  For the most part, the reporters at the White House simply confirmed what most Americans already know – they are completely complicit in this administration’s failures and the Democrat party in general.  For all the scandals and lunacy coming out of the White House in recent weeks, the amount of softball questions thrown at Obama was staggering.  Each question seemed to have no other purpose than to allow the President to spout off another round of key words problems and remedies.  Only one reporter (thank you Jake Tapper) asked a question about Solyndra and Fast & Furious and it was barely probing in any way.  It was more of a “can you please explain why unknown entities in the far,far reaches of your administration keep trying to circumvent your awesomeness with these bad decisions” sort of question.  Something like that.  In nearly an hour of questioning, only two reporters actually dared to ask real questions that required real answers.  Perhaps the most revealing was from CBS’ Bill Plante, who asked the President if being in constant campaign mode and blaming Republicans for everything was productive.  It was the one illuminating moment of the entire presser.  The question sent Obama into a tail spin almost immediately.  He seemed angry and lost, stammering his way through a barely coherent answer that included a lot of “uh”s and “I”s and glares.  Its a good thing that the white-haired Mr. Plante seems to be closer to the end of his career than the beginning, because he will never be allowed to address the President again.  BO was PO’d and the mood permeated the remainder of the presser.  His stammering only became worse, and his defensiveness was almost uncomfortable to witness.  It is clear why Obama’s handlers don’t allow him to answer more questions during his speeches.  Off the teleprompter Obama is unprepared, rambling and clearly unused to facing anything but glowing admiration and worship from those in front of him.

The presser lasted for over an hour.  Most of that time was filled with softball questions from “journalists” and Obama’s key-word answers.  Here are a few highlights from Obama’s checklist:

-the Japanese tsunami really put a damper on the roaring economic recovery.  Water in Japan will do that.

-the “Jobs Bill” is paid for, but in order to pay for it, we need a new national surtax (yeah, wrap your head around that one!)

-millionaires and billionaires need to start paying their fair share.  Its not fair to poor people that the top 50% of Americans pay 99% of the taxes.

-Occupy Wall Street crowd are simply “frustrated” citizens exercising their freedom to assemble and express their disappointments with Congress and cheating, stinking corportations.  Unlike the tea partiers, who are nothing more than racist, anarchist, violent sons-of-bitches.

-government must enact regulation in order to foster competition among businesses.  Solyndra?

-“folks” who are doing the right thing are frustrated because they are not rewarded while those who do the wrong things are rewarded heavily.  Solyndra?

-Obama has been “very clear” regarding Solyndra and Fast & Furious and has full confidence in Attorney General Holder.  Is that clear?

-Solyndra predates Obama, so stop asking about it! Bush did it! Hopefully you won’t check to see that Bush rejected the loan.  That’s not part of the campaign platform.

-Obama understood when making green energy loans that some would fail.  Americans should be comforted to know he willingly wasted billions of their tax dollars in surefire failures.  What a guy!

-Obama doesn’t understand why banks would react to Dodd-Frank by adding fees to make up for the losses imposed by the law.  Clearly banks hate the middle class.  And Barack Obama.

–construction workers and teachers.

-a huge part of a stable economy is buying things and selling things.  Those words were actually spoken out loud by our President. This just in:  water is wet.

-Obama wants reporters to do their homework regarding evil Republican stalwarting.  Also, eat their peas and take off their bedroom slippers.

The President ended by saying he would love for Congress to pass his tax, er…”Jobs” Bill so he didn’t have to campaign against a do-nothing Congress in the next year; admitting that his strategy would be to campaign against Congress instead of on his own record.  Inspired yet? No?  Well, maybe it will just take some more speeches.  Not to worry, America may be poor in jobs, money and progress, but we are rich in speeches! Stay tuned…

Obama Delivers "Pass My Jobs Bill" Speech ( #19 in 2 weeks)

President Obama just wrapped up his most recent speech  (112 minutes of it) in which he both started and ended with the temper-tantrum-like, “Pass My Jobs Bill Now” obvious 2012 reelection style campaign rhetoric. President Obama spent an ample amount of his TV time today towards blaming Republicans for not passing his jobs bill already, even though it is in fact, Harry Reid and Senate Democrats who have refused to vote on it. Last we heard Mr. President,  it is a known fact that Congress is made up of both parties, and your Liberal Democrats hold the majority in the U.S. Senate today, just in case you weren’t aware of that fact. It is nothing short of amazing in how the lead- mouthpiece of the Liberal Party USA, Barack Obama can never seem to find a thing that Democrats are responsible for during the last 5 straight years of Congressional rule. ( 2007-2010 plus Senate rule today ) When it comes to any criticism, it is like they don’t exist in Obama’s world. It was just announced that, after being exposed by Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell yesterday on the Senate floor in his refusal to act on Obama’s demands to vote on the jobs bill, Harry Reid has now agreed to hold a vote on Obama’s supposed jobs bill. Good luck Harry. Last we heard, Obama’s supposed jobs bill has bi-partisan opposition in the U.S.Senate.

President Obama was asked if he would sign the current Chinese Currency Manipulation bill in Congress which has bi-partisan support , which he totally dodged by talking about the history of China’s doing just that, yet once again he refused to be clear as to whether he would sign the bill as asked. That non-committal to denounce China as a currency manipulator is exactly how China has gotten away scott-free for decades without any firm repercussions.

When asked about the current Solyndra pay-for-play scandal where half a billion tax dollars were funneled into Democratic campaign coffers, Obama stayed on message in denying any wrong-doing, and also said it is up to the Dept. of Energy to take these risks on behalf of the taxpayer in so many words. FYI, Mr. President, the political appointees in fact, do not have authorization to “make bets” with taxpayer dollars any where in the U.S. Constitution. As a much-ballyhooed Constitutional scholar, one would think you would know better than to to try to sell that load of bunk there.

President Obama once again defended his political operative over at the DOJ,  Eric Holder in trying to convince the public that Holder knew nothing about the Fast and Furious government-sponsored gun-running program that resulted in the murder of 2 border agents and hundreds of citizens .E-mails and other correspondence prove Holder and the Obama administration were in fact informed about that program and allowed it to proceed. Again we see that President Obama refuses to hold anyone accountable for this travesty of injustice. Simply denying the facts will not make it go away Mr. President, as you are starting to see by Rep. Darell Issa now demanding a special prosecutor, promising to “get to the bottom of it, no matter what it takes.”

President Obama took some parting shots again at the GOP towards the end of his latest TV appearance, where he demanded that they tell him what they do not agree with in his jobs plan several Republicans have already expressed these concerns, but maybe Obama missed them, considering he has been on the campaign trail for the better part of two straight weeks now. As a voting citizen, I have one simple problem with Obama’s supposed jobs plan and a very simple way to solve what I see as the biggest problem with his supposed desire to “create or save” jobs in America. Pass the bill on one condition: Every contract funded by this jobs bill must be put up for bids in order to ensure the taxpayer gets the most bang for their buck. That way, all of the infrastructure, road-building and new construction projects in Obama’s new jobs plan, will not be used to buy Union crony-capitalists votes for his 2012 reelection campaign. What say you Congress? Draw up the amendment and then take that message to “We the people” that you will in fact, pass Obama’s jobs bill as long as it does not cut out the 85% of the workers in this country who do not belong to Unions.  That’s all Obama’s latest stimulus plan 2.0 is, that he is trying to sell to Congress so heavily recently.  As far as We the People running Republicans out of town if they don’t pass your fake jobs bill, the main target to be run out of town as of right now is you Mr, President, which is backed up the recent number of your very own 55% disapproval ratings show. Gosh, how I hate having to watch these retreads of Obama’s campaign speeches that always contain a heavy dose of blaming everything under the sun for his blatant failures as the leader of this country, instead of taking one ounce of responsibility. 2012 just can’t get here fast enough.

WH Outbursts at CBS Reporter Say a Lot

The new tone has been shown. The new tone only applied to those who question the Democrat party. Sharyl Attkisson’s interview on Laura Ingrahm’s talk show illustrates two blatant inconsistencies in the Obama narrative. Attkinson is a well-respected investigative reporter from CBS news, not from any of the news organizations that have been consistently attacked by the Obama Administration. She was screamed at and swore at by White House aid Eric Schultz, and got similar treatment from a woman at the D.O.J. by the name of Tracy Schmaler. She received this treatment in response to her questions about the Fast and Furious scandal.

Attkinson was told that she was being “unreasonable.” She was also told that other news organizations knew that “Fast and Furious” wasn’t a story. All of this being shouted, and in the case of Eric Schultz, also included swearing. There goes the new tone, but then again, the White House has never even tried to live up to their mandates, no matter how simple, obvious and expected from moral, civilized people.

This incident also puts into question, yet again, whether the Obama administration is really committed to transparency. The answer is, obviously not. The administration seems to think their job is to tell the press what is and is not a “story.” If they don’t agree, it is their job to shout at, swear at and intimidate those who feel differently into feeling the way they feel. Historically “Fast and Furious” makes Watergate and Iran Contra look like child’s play, the idea that it isn’t a story is purely ridiculous, yet that is the White House line.

Besides these two blatant inconsistencies, another disconcerting issue is highlighted by this recent incident. If the Newspapers mentioned by Eric Schultz view the deaths of innocent Americans and Mexicans as non-stories, have they done that at the behest of the Whitehouse, or are they just simply incompetent. The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post were all mentioned in the vein that they “understood” that Fast and Furious was a non-story. Considering how obviously newsworthy of a story Fast and Furious is, it is logical to question whether those decisions are made by the Whitehouse as opposed to the newsrooms of the newspapers in question. This incident needs a highlight, and it should never be let go. It calls into question both the Whitehouse and the Media, and whether they have the best interest of the country, or the best interest of the Obama administration in mind.

Obama's Latest Plan: Rescuing America From Rich People and Success

Obama in WH Rose Garden announcing plans to save America from money

The President gave another campaign speech disguised as a “deficit reduction plan” Monday morning, this time in the White House Rose Garden.  Perhaps he hoped the the backdrop of thriving foliage would add to the illusion that his “plan” would help the economy thrive and flourish.  Here are some highlights from the campaign speech:

Obama wants $248 Billion to come out of Medicare, 90% of which will come in the form of reducing over-payments to providers.  Did you hear that, America? The administration that  has presided over recent scandals such as Fast & Furious and Solyndra, the administration that spends $3.93 billion a day (consider that a billion seconds=31 years and let that blow your mind) wants to reduce waste and fraud in Medicare? Don’t you feel safer already? I know I do.

Obama wants to increase taxes on the wealthy. The wealthy don’t pay enough in taxes, you know.  Wealthy people are selfish and evil and ugly.  They steal money from the poor and keep it all in giant vaults that can only be opened with giant keys.  Then they drink expensive champagne made from the tears of women, children and minorities.  It doesn’t matter that according to the IRS‘ own, easily located statistics, the top 50% of earners pay 97% of all income taxes, and the top 1% pay 39%.  Rich people are bad.  Unless their names are Pelosi, Obama, Clinton, Kennedy, Buffet, Jobs, Gates, Frank, Rockefeller, Feinstein, Kerry, Heinz-Kerry, Gore, Edwards…..oh, you get the point.

Obama wants to put caps on itemized deductions, close tax “loopholes”, and let the Bush era tax cuts expire on individuals earning $200,000/year and couples earning $250,000/year.  Thank God.  Since most small business owners file as individuals and depend heavily on itemized deductions to stay afloat, this new and fresh idea should effectively kill small business growth; and if there’s anything America needs less of its small business and the jobs they create.  If those businesses are allowed to thrive, they might become big businesses that earn a lot of money.  Then they’ll be rich.  To reiterate, rich people are bad. Its a good thing Obama is here to rescue the average American from…jobs.

Obama wants a “Buffet” tax, named for his favorite rich person, Warren Buffet.  This tax would raise the tax rate on individuals earning over $1 million per year.   Hey, small business owners and folks who have worked very hard to earn a nice salary -Warren Buffet wants to pay more taxes!  You should want that too.  But just in case you don’t, here is a plan to force you to pay more taxes.  You’re welcome.

Oh, did you know Warren Buffet has a secretary?  Its true.  Supposedly she pays a higher tax rate than he does.  Unacceptable!  Also unacceptable – giving the secretary a raise so she can move into a different tax bracket.  Let’s not get carried away here, folks!

Obama wants to reform the corporate tax rate while closing more of the dreaded “loopholes” (when is Hollywood going to make a horror movie about loopholes? They sound absolutely terrifying).  In case you were wondering, giving hundreds of millions in stimulus money to bankrupt solar energy companies and other energy providers to help “weatherize” homes, that’s not a loophole.  Its just being neighborly.

If you are feeling concerned that these “proposals” may seem a bit…one-dimensional, have no fear.  President Obama went on to assure Americans that “This is not class warfare, it’s math.”  Phew!  No worries, everyone.  Its all under control.  The same White House that saved and/or created 100 bazillion jobs has done all the math for you: $14,711,883,847,986 in national debt minus stimulus money payouts to cronies and unions= YOU NEED TO GIVE GOVERNMENT MORE OF YOUR MONEY…NOW!  Its a simple formula, really.  Now it is all up the the Republicans in the House to pass this campaign speech right away.

What a Week in Politics: 9/17/2011

Here at CDN we try to give our readers insightful, informative and sometimes humorous articles generally written from a conservative point of view,( and sometimes Libertarian) thus we are known as Conservative Daily News. While very detailed articles are a must for most political junkies, citizen activists and all around working folks concerned about the direction of America today under the current  Liberal administration, sometimes folks just do not have the time to devote hours or even days deciphering a whole week’s worth of political information in say, their only day off  from work.

With the lightning speed of news and volume of information that is available on the internet today, some of us have also developed a form of what I refer to as PADD, or Political Attention Deficit Disorder and have developed patterns of just skimming headlines and news articles, mainly due to very busy schedules. This past week in politics was quite a firestorm, with seemingly major headlines popping up at a furious pace that was hard for even this political junkie/citizen journalist to keep up with, so I decided to recap the action in an all-inclusive article with short summaries about this week’s headlines, and links to the detailed versions for concerned citizens that may have the extra time to devote to becoming an informed voter in 2012.

CDN also puts out a very informative weekly newsletter via email that you may sign up for here, ( right hand side, half way down on page) that includes extensive news and opinion articles from the great team of citizen journalists at CDN delivered right to your inbox. NOTE:  Your email will never be given out to other groups that tend to flood us with spam 24/7. We respect our readers way too much to play that game.

Topping the news this week is what is now known as  The Solyndra Scandal

Recap: The Obama administration, along with the DOE  fast-tracked a $535 million dollar loan to a company who was shown to be a bad investment of the taxpayer dollars, as they were making solar panels that basically cost twice as much to make as compared to what they could sell them for.  While G.W. Bush was in office he held off on making these Solyndra loans based on the fact that some people had proven this to be a company designed to fail. Then we have one Mr. Kaiser, an ardent Obama/Democrat supporter visiting the White House several times just before this “deal”  was ramrodded through, and whom stands to be paid off  for his initial investment of $150M before the taxpayers will see the return of any of their half a billion dollars. That is also illegal according to law.  This pay to play scheme perpetuated by the Obama administration where the taxpayers dollars are being blatantly funnelled to finance Obama’s election campaigns will not be going away any time soon. Stay tuned, as it is very interesting to watch as the Obama administration and their puppets scramble to cover this one up.

Next up is the U.S. Senate FEMA Funding Bill  Scheme:

Recap: Liberal Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid must have been working overtime when he made this headline at CDN. Progressive U.S. Senate Piles on the Debt with 2012 FEMA Bill.   Progressives from both parties in the U.S. Senate have decided to increase FEMA funding in their own bill there, in a blatant attempt to bully the House bill that is coming up in which reps. are asking for cuts in funding to avoid putting the FEMA funding on our children’s credit card debt once again. By the way, since that article was written, the Senate has passed that bill. This is political football and a waste of time to anyone who sees this gimmickry for what it is: Progressives trying to get a leg up on the conservative majority in the House through this pre-emptive strike that shows that they will demand more debt spending in 2012. NOTE: The White House asked for $5.1B, while the house bill calls for $3.65B. So the Progressives in the Senate want to almost double the amount of FEMA funding in the House bill. And they want to borrow the money to pay for it. While this comes as no big surprise from big government Liberals in Congress today, the eight Republicans who voted along with them sure have some explaining to do to we the people here. Are your reps among the great eight listed below that should have a “P” ( for progressive) following their name instead of an “R’ ?

ROY BLUNT ( R-MO),  Scott Brown ( R-MA),  Collins (R-ME),  HELLER ( R-NV),  Hoeven (R-ND), Murkowski ( R-AK),  RUBIO (R-FL),  Snowe ( R-ME) .** If any of these are your reps, and you voted for them as a conservative, call or write them and demand answers from these progressive big government debt dealer’s votes here. My Rep.,Mr. Marco Rubio will be hearing from me, no matter how long it takes to get him to answer for this inexcusable action. If this bunch of debt-spenders and  tricksters think just because they did this on a Friday we will not be paying attention and calling them out on this vote, they have another thing coming!  **Vote info pulled from senate.gov. on 9/17/2011.

The next news story involves the propagandists at the DNC creating a new citizen informant group called AttackWatch supposedly to combat misinformation spread by folks like us here at CDN. Michelle served up an excellent report  on AttackWatch here  and exposes the very misfits it comprises of, and their comedy of incompetence. While pretty much the whole nation is laughing at this bunch of Obama-sheep supposedly keeping an eye on what folks are saying about the chosen one, what isn’t so funny is the fact that many of these clowns are being paid for with your very own tax dollars to promote the Liberal Socialist agenda of the fake democrats and Mr. Barack Hussein Obama. When you start a propaganda group such as this one with taxpayer dollars, people just might start referring to you as a Josef Goebbels-type Nazi social engineer. Now there is something for the misfits of AttackWatch to spin into me calling Obama a Nazi. As they say, if AttackWatch wants a piece of me,,, ” Come get some.” Another cool saying comes to mind here, ” You can’t handle the truth” and the truth is what we tell here at CDN, 24/7.

While the Obama administration, along with the folks at DHS, ATF, and the DOJ would like us to quickly forget about the Fast and Furious scandalinvolving our government selling guns to drug cartels from Mexico, this story just keeps getting nastier and nastier as we witness the pathetic attempts to sweep this fiasco under the rug. Warren did an excellent job of detailing that injustice in the above link. Untold numbers of citizens and at least one border agent have been murdered by thugs wielding assault weapons that were fast-tracked purchases authorized by our very own government. The ATF are running a game of musical chairs in transferring employees directly involved in this scandal to posts in DC and elsewhere, in desperate attempts to shut down this investigation. This is sure to be a news story gift that keeps on giving for months or even years to come, until we get to the bottom of this and people are in fact held accountable, whether Eric Holder or Barack Obama like it or not. A society that doesn’t obey the rule of law becomes a lawless one in which murder and mayhem ratchet up across the country. Hold your ground Congressman Issa, for the betterment all of the law-abiding citizens of America.

In an early headline this week we saw President Obama hit the media scene with numerous demands to pass his American Jobs Act, including this intitial one: Obama Begins “Pass the Fake Jobs Bill” Campaign Today .  Obama somehow expected American citizens to somehow believe this was not a retread of his past failed stimulus bill that cost the taxpayers over $800B and left us with nothing more than a stagnant economy and miserably high unemployment. Obama and the DNC even sent out directives for their political operatives and Socialism-pimps in Congress to stop using the word “stimulus” completely. While team Obama were busy screaming at Congress to pass The American Jobs Act bill right now, even though it had not even been submitted to Congress, an enterprising Congressman submitted his own American Jobs Act here, leaving team Obama without a name for his supposed jobs bill.  Ryan posted the actual Obama jobs bill on CDN  here, just in case you are interesting in actually reading it. A quick summary of the bill is fairly simple. This bill contains many paybacks for Unions for their supporting Obama’s reelection campaign, albeit in a stealth way disguised as improving schools for kids, help for war veterans, and the always proven to be phony infrastructure funding, etc. It is also a pathetic attempt to pander to minorities and women for their votes, which Ryan points in the above linked article:

Just a quick note about the American Jobs Act website itself: It shows a clear distinction in the split in thought between mainstream America and the Beltway culture in general and Democrats in particular with its links where people can see the “impact” on women, Latinos, and African-Americans. Philosophically speaking, this is a despicable habit because it only seeks to separate people into inequality groups instead of counting everyone as simply “Americans” and reinforcing the idea that we are all created equal.

Bottom line: This retread of the failed stimulus bill is nothing more than a campaign tool for Obama and his Liberal Democrats as they desperately try to claw their way into forcing another four years of his failed, economy-busting Marxist wealth redistribution-for-votes campaign to remain in power. Even many Democrats are stating that this “bill” will not pass, whatever name they try to disguise it by. I totally agree with Ryan there,  that to inject race-based class warfare into a supposed  “American Jobs Act”  is very unpresidential, to say the least. Maybe the Obama handlers should have asked him to more aptly name that bill the ” minorites and womens jobs act to further divide America with class warfare” bill. But that title leaves out the Union vote-buying aspect of it, and we sure would hate to leave the Unions out of  Obama’s  supposed jobs bill title. Let’s just call it Obama’s failed stimulus 3.0 and call it what it is.

In other news, we saw that Glenn Beck has launched his new GBTV Internet TV show in an article that also includes videos here. Beck came out swinging at the Obama fake jobs plan and also a good expose’ on the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists and how our own political correctness of today that leads us to avoid telling the truth about these terrorists that poses a huge danger to America today, and in the near future. Love him or hate him, Beck delivers some hard-hitting facts about the dangers of big government tyrants and always sprinkles his shows with doses of history that make it hard to deny how creeping Socialism is tearing apart America. Wanna-be Communists and Che-worshipping Liberal puppet-bloggers across the country are sure to be pulling their hair out at the reemergence of Glenn Beck and his own GBTV show. This should keep the misfits at AttackWatch busy for years to come, also.
