WHY I AM A CONSERVATIVE

 kirk

To condense into a short essay the reason I’m a conservative is no mean feat. From my perspective In order to represent my reasoning I need to address not only what it is about conservatism that first captured my attention, but also how I believe that the principles of conservatism best suit humankind’s natural inclinations and that of society as a whole.

My initial introduction to what conservatism embodies was through Russell Kirk’s magnum opus “The Conservative Mind”. Kirk’s rendering of conservatism’s legacy fascinated me primarily because I found it to be such a noble heritage and I was intrigued by conservatism’s persistent quest for seeking the high moral ground. Kirk’s book was consistent with other works on conservatism I read in their respect for virtue, humility, tradition, and piety grounded in the natural laws of Judeo-Christian beliefs. I found it interesting how those wonderful values are also very much rooted in the formation of local communities that serve as the building blocks for the world’s greatest civilizations, epitomized by America’s founding. I also came to appreciate that conservatism’s respect for ancestral wisdom has served as a guiding principle for leaders from Burke, Washington, Disraeli, and Lincoln to Churchill, Thatcher and Reagan.

However in keeping with the conservative’s propensity for prudence I’ll do my best to refrain from pontificating too much on conservatism’s rich historical heritage or hazard excluding essential elements. I’ll defer to the more capable writings of doyens such as Kirk or George Nash to impart conservatism’s legacy, or recommend the musings of Hawthorne, Chesterton, Tolkien, Orwell or O’Conner or any of the other many brilliant writers with conservative leanings to express the merits of a conservative mindset through life’s lessons.

I’ve mentioned the influences that led me to conservatism, but it’s more challenging to express how I actually became a conservative. To read about a philosophy and admire its principles is one thing, but it is altogether different to actually embrace it as a beacon for how one conducts their life. So I feel the best vehicle for articulating that thought is through the metaphor of sports. Now I was never what one would characterize as a magnificent athlete, but I certainly wasn’t a “spaz”. I wasn’t gifted enough to play on any of my high school squads (for the record I vied with 2,500 other boys for spots on the squads), but I played basketball, football and baseball in pickup games on sandlots and playgrounds with passion and verve, savoring the thrills and tribulations of each stretched out triple, missed layup or Hail Mary reception.

It always appeared to me that athletics represent a microcosm of the qualities necessary to subsist in life. Athletes must develop and hone their skills, be prepared for sacrifice, dedication, self-discipline and exhibit a competitive spirit. Sports also have a communal quality. Coaches, trainers, teammates, family, friends, fans, and even fellow competitors are part of the athlete’s overall community, support system and sphere of influence. Most sports also have time-honored traditions, rules, modes of behavior and conduct that the participants and officials hold in high esteem and are maintained as much as possible in consideration of changing times and events.

The athlete also has a sense of humility and piety. They realize their gifts are special and more often than not express an appreciation to a higher power for their unique talent. And of course the ultimate goal of any athletic endeavor is the sweet sensation of victory. How many times have we heard the star player humbly declare that they would forego individual accolades for a team championship? This is the attitude of the dedicated competitor who places their team above personal gain, and their individual accomplishments are only fulfilled if their team earns the admiration of their peers as the best in class.

The attributes of sports are analogous to the values of conservatism on many levels. If we dedicate ourselves to our missions in life, take advantage of our God given talents, respect our fellow man’s person and place, appreciate our obligations to those truly in need, contribute to our community, have a sense of humility, pride and piety, learn lessons from our own decisions and those of other’s, and in the course of life’s journey accumulate some property then, whether we know it or not, we’ve led a life of conservative values. Conservatism, like sports, is the anti-entitlement philosophy. We are only entitled to the spoils of that which we have earned, and respectful of those who endeavor toward greatness.

Russell Kirk once characterized the conservative life as that which strives to live a life of grace. He wrote, “A poor man, if he has dignity, honesty, the respect of his neighbors, a realization of his duties, a love of the wisdom of his ancestors, and possibly some taste for knowledge or beauty, is rich in the unbought grace of life.” Although I may not always hit Kirk’s marks in how I conduct my own life, I couldn’t craft a better testament as to why I am a conservative.

Slavery

Historically slavery has always been around long before America was discovered. Europe held out to be one of the greatest places for owning slaves and the concept was not shortly lived. For black people to continually play the race card and hold American’s hostage indefinitely, for ideals that have literally nothing to do with modern America is ludicrous. In addition, for anyone to presume they are the product of some master plan, which promotes the oppression of the black man on the basis of color is equally insane, we all have options.

Throughout history man has been witness some deplorable events which have left a mark from one generation to another. Although the idea of slavery in itself is despicable, the reality is that it was very much a part of life and history and not limited to just the black man and his family. This is not meant to be a history lesson, rather it is an attempt to help people realize that the constant use of the race card, as a means of discrimination, is really getting old. For decades now we have become so complacent to the feelings of others that we use the word tolerance over and over again, and in the process we have become more intolerant of Christians, Jews, conservatives, and anyone whose ethical and moral beliefs are not in sink with the norms of the twenty-first century. History brings with it the events of the times, right or wrong, they are what they are, and cannot be changed. But for some groups to claim they are being held captive by the oppressors of yesterday is truly biased and unfair to modern civilization, most of which would agree that they hold a certain level of contempt for the very idea of slavery. Those people who love to stir-up trouble and sensationlize every story, truly need to find a way to move on and find something better to do, something more productive. The very government some of these people support, is the same government responsible for their poverty to begin with. Entitlements make people dependant; they lose hope and desire to change what for them is truly changeable. Slavery by definition is submission to a dominating influence. (Merriam – Webster) The influence in this case is more likely big government — each man becomes a slave to his own beliefs whether real or imaginary, and to believe that big governemnt is not a form of slavery is to be delusional.

Plato was taught by Socrates, Aristotle by Plato. Together they comprise the most influential figures in Western Philosophy. The philosophy of Aristotle (384–322 B.C.E.) is what influenced St. Thomas Aquinas. He was also the teacher for Alexander the Great. In one of his more famous writings, The Politics, Aristotle asserts: “But is there any one thus intended by nature to be a slave, and for whom such a condition is expedient and right, or rather is not all slavery a violation of nature? There is no difficulty in answering this question, on grounds both of reason and of fact. For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule.” (1) Aristotle believed that some people were naturally slaves and some were not, those who were not Greek were considered barbarians and therefore more likely, by nature to be slaves. The color of a man’s skin had no bearing on the issue of slavery back then. Aristotle went on to discuss the nature of things which played an important role later on in history. Although the idea or justification of slavery in itself is never justified the importance behind the theories of Aristotle cannot be ignored or replaced.

Another example of slavery existed in Europe who had more African slaves then any other country in the world. England, France and Portugal used slave labor in their colonies while others, such as the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark, were mainly active in the commercial trade and shipping, thus contributing to the trade by carrying slaves from Africa to the Caribbean and Latin America. France was a major player in the slave trade and many of its cities on the West Coast(such as Nantes, Lorient, La Rochelle, and Bordeaux) have built their wealth through the triangular trade. Slaves on French vessels were mainly taken to the French Caribbean colonies such as Saint-Domingue and Martinique. In addition, France is also notorious for introducing the Code Noir (‘black code), a decree written in 1685 providing formal regulations for the treatment of slaves, governing their lives, deaths, freedoms, religion and how they were to be bought and sold. This gruesome document served to de-humanize the enslaved Africans even more by institutionalizing the trade in humans even further. France eventually outlawed the slave trade in 1830 and slavery itself in 1848. (2)

Since slavery was not limited to African’s, I must say that I do not hold anyone responsible, nor do I play the race card, in the event that at one time or another perhaps my ancestor’s might have been held captive as slaves. Likewise, I am not responsible for slavery or events that occured in the past. We need to consider the reality that we all have the free will to determine our own fate. We have the means and the ability to work to achieve our individual goals, follow our dreams, and determine the path we choose to walk. To hold on to the ideals that somehow every white man, women, and child born in the United States is somehow responsible for the oppression of Black people is ridiculous. The race card is so over played and reverse racism has become the norm for some people. In addition, whoever came up with the idea of adding the word American on to an ethnic group e.g. African-American – is equally stupid. Seriously, this idea was derived by someone with to much time on their hands. Clearly, whether you are black, white, pink, or purple, and if you were born in the United States, it is presumed you are an American, there is not need to put the American after your ethnic group.

The lesson to be learned here is that History is important. Without the truth and clear understanding about who we are as a people we can become misguided and lose faith in what is important. The truth of the matter is we are all children of God, whether we believe in him or not, it doesn’t matter, and we are all made in his image. What we need to do is treat everyone the way we would want to be treated, even the annoying person who we try to avoid; maybe that person even more. Hope is what allows us to persevere even in the worst of times — never lose site of that. Naturally, it is essential to realize that if we ignore history we are destined to repeat it.

The Swindlers: How Four Vain Philosophies Threaten American Liberty.

Jack-ass polices are getting tiresome

“The ‘Art of War’ is painted with a Philosophers   pen.”-Unknown

This is a brief study of the religious, and philosophical weapons that Post-modern Democrats, are using against the chief cornerstone of liberty—the Christian worldview. Their goal is simple—marginalize Christianity, and thus liberty, and replace our great heritage with a forgery—Secular Humanism. My purpose is to point out the philosophical  weapons that Progressive/Post-modern-Democrats are using in our culture, and encourage conservatives to engage our fellow Americans with a reasoned argument.

Please note: the terms Progressive, Post-modern, and Humanism are used somewhat interchangeably. Although there are differences in their meaning, their arguments against conservatives are similar. My goal is also to reach out to both Independents, and Democrats to disengage from the Democrat party rhetoric—which is nothing more then a swindler’s list of false slogans. I know this to be true because I use to be one of them. I have since become an Independent and staunch Christian conservative.

I want to make a brief distinction between the traditional Blue-dog Democrats, and the Progressives/Post-moderns. Blue-dog Democrats believed in the same values as our Founders did—that our liberties come from God, and not too much government intervention. This is not what the Progressive/Post-modern-Democrat believes today—they are hostile to this concept. I point this out because  both my Father and Grandfather were hard working Blue-dogs. Our enemy here is not the people—it’s their vain ideologies.

Sadly, many of the traditional working-class Blue-dogs, still to this day, are not aware of the skullduggery committed in the hijacking of their party. Therefore, because of their innocent oblivion   it concerns me that president Barack Obama may be re-elected. If the Democrat party wins back the House—the Founding Fathers doomsday prophecy of America falling under a tyrannical government could well be fulfilled. Remember, half the battle in any fight is knowing your opponent, the other half is knowing their strategy.  Our opponents are the Progressive Democrats, the enemy is their ideas–So lets get busy.

The four weapons of the Post-modern-Progressive Democrat–a brief history.

It was Alexis de Tocqueville who said, “The Americans who combine the notions of religion and liberty so intimately in their minds that it is impossible to make them conceive of one without the other.” Sadly this statement by the French philosopher is no longer true. The religion he was referring to was Christianity.

50 years ago in 1962-(63), Christianity—the chief cornerstone of American Exceptionalism, and vanguard of liberty was removed from public education. It’s replacement was a deceptive religion, a philosophy of supposed moral neutrality called Secular Humanism. Born from the words of the Dragon of Eden, and proffered during the Enlightenment period, this was the religion of man as the center of all things—a breeding ground for government largess—and that was the plan. This would be the primary weapon for Progressive Democrats in which all vanity would build upon.

To further popularize Humanism—the new vanguard of our republic, three vain philosophies: Naturalism, Moral Relativism, and Religious Pluralism would form a rather unholy, but complementary alliance with Secularism in the pilfering of American values. This would not only challenge the Biblical worldview, but Natural law, and The Correspondence theory of truth, and indeed it was successful. In spite of all the circular reasoning, and contradictions these vain ideologies brought forth—America seemed bewitched by these charming tales.

Traditionally it was always understood that true propositions corresponded to reality—to which the Biblical worldview exclusively fit. The Post-modern rejection of Natural law, and Aristotelian logic sent a shock-wave through the fabric of our culture; setting us back academically, and socially from prior years with some ugly metrics such as: lower SAT scores, an increase in crime, personal debt, teen-pregnancies, divorce, and a host of other moral calamities. Here are some disturbing graphs.

Not dissuaded by the moral and academic decline, the Progressive-Democrat swindle continued. The strategy was simple: marginalize the Biblical worldview in all facets of American culture, so that in time our nation would cycle through a new generation of like-minded professional Progressive-Humanists. Influential positions such as: teachers, professors, media moguls, judges, even theologians, and of course politicians, would capitulate to this atheistic way of thinking. Big government would be the “God” of their lives.

This cultural confusion that we are currently witnessing is somewhat reminiscent of the Marxist-Leninist Communist takeover in Russian 1917. Aside from whipping up the working class, and union infiltration, another similarity was being played out at our universities since the early 20th century,  the theory of Naturalism.  The belief that man came from natural organic evolution, as opposed to super-natural means. This would be the second weapon in the Progressive-Democrat playbook, borrowing from the Humanist playbook.

The intellectual offspring of Naturalism was Evolution. The theory goes as follows; that life evolved from the simple to the complex via Natural Selection, Mutation, and Genetic-Drift. Personally, I think Darwin should take a back seat in the classroom. Achieving life from non-life has never been witnessed. The theory seems contradictory on it’s face— something from nothing—simple to complex…considering a greater agency would be needed, and where are the fossils of these transitional forms ?

Weapon number three is a simple deduction–if man was not created, then definitions of right and wrong are not absolute. In fact they were relative to the person, or culture. This is called Moral Relativism: a belief that universal truth, in a absolute objective way does not exist. Think about that for a moment…if truth is just a preference, like ice-cream flavors, then for certain, Moral Relativists would find the Christian witness of Jesus only, an a aggressive and false belief. Moral Relativism in summation, is self-refuting.

However, considering America has become a great melting pot of varied worldviews and religions, thanks to the graciousness of our Christian heritage, Secular Humanist’s could not afford to simply force people to drop their worldviews. They did something much more ingenious. The fourth weapon deployed would be philosophy of Religious Pluralism.

This charming sophistry would create the false impression that all religions are equally valid, hence true in the classic meaning,  irrespective of their contradictory truth claims. This is also a classic Post-modern-Democrat slogan as well. An easy example to understand this if I may. Imagine you are trying to find the capital of our nation, Washington, D.C., and you ask for directions, and you hear the following… “it doesn’t matter what highway you take, they are all equally valid!” Folks it doesn’t get much sillier then this.

Finally, these four philosophical weapons have effectively obfuscated our cultural values of thrift, hard work, and the belief in universal truth;  and more then anything—hope. Perhaps a word of wisdom from Aristotle would be apropos. In book 12 of Meta-Physics he says, “ That there must be an immortal, unchanging being, ultimately responsible for all the wholeness and orderliness in the sensible world, and we are able to discover a good deal about this being.”  For a man who lived a few centuries before Christ, he was able to see the footprint of God through creation and logic.

Folks our worldviews matter. Our moral positions either add to civility or subtract from it. Some worldviews do not make sense in the world we live in. Think it through and vote sensibly.

A special thanks and credits to the folks at Stand to Reason and Answers in Genesis of which I have learned a great deal. I encourage any person that is truly interested in engaging our confused culture with a rational and winning argument to review their web-sites.

Jeb Bush Signs Right On Crime Statement of Principles

Joins Ed Meese, Grover Norquist, Bill Bennett, and dozens of conservative leaders supporting conservative criminal justice reforms

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Jeb Bush, the first Republican to be elected to consecutive terms as Governor of Florida, is the newest signatory of the Right On Crime statement of principles, which aligns the conservative agenda on criminal justice reform with long-standing conservative principles such as accountability, limited government, and fiscal responsibility.

“States across the country, including Florida, are proving that policies based on these sound conservative principles will reduce crime and its cost to taxpayers,” Gov. Bush said.  “Many of the signatories of this statement of principles are respected leaders and friends, and I am pleased to add my support.”

“Jeb Bush’s track record as Governor of Florida was marked by consistent and visionary conservative leadership,” said ROC senior policy advisor Marc Levin.  “Gov. Bush’s endorsement of these principles increases the credibility of the conservative criminal justice reform movement on a national level.  Gov. Bush’s support will also provide valuable momentum in Florida, which presents one of the best opportunities for implementing these reforms that better protect the public and reduce the costs of crime.”

The conservative statement of principles was unveiled last December by Right on Crime, an initiative spearheaded by the Texas Public Policy Foundation and based on measures implemented in Texas that have reduced crime by more than 9 percent while saving taxpayers more than $2 billion.

The campaign grounds itself in the basics of conservatism: personal responsibility, free enterprise, limited government, and family. Using a model that has been successful in Texas since 2005, Right on Crime promotes data-driven solutions that are proven to restore victims, decrease the number of repeat offenders, and save taxpayer dollars.

Ten states across the country have enacted reforms this year that are aligned with the Right On Crime statement of principles.  These reforms include:

  • Juvenile justice overhauls in Florida and Texas;
  • Closure of no-longer-needed prisons in Colorado and Texas;
  • Evidence-based diversion programs that will offset the need for new prisons in Arkansas and Ohio; and
  • Parole reforms in AlabamaArkansasLouisiana, and North Carolina.

The conservative statement of principles and a current list of signatories are available online atwww.rightoncrime.com/statement-of-principles.

Did President Obama Learn Anything While in Puerto Rico ?

President Barack Hussein Obama recently took his 2012 reelection campaign to the island of Puerto Rico in an attempt to corrall the Puerto Rican vote here in the States. The question is did he learn anything while there from the current Governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuno. Governor Fortuno was elected in the 2008 elections and recieved over 220,00 votes, the most in recent history. One fact that is sure to suprise people is that while Governor Fortuno enjoys the support of being a member of the Republican National Committee, he is also the President of the New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico!

First let’s see just what Governor Fortuno has accomplished during his time in office, and just how he accomplished it. Sixty days into his administration as Governor, Mr. Fortuno announced the formation of his new Fiscal and Economic recovery Plan. This agressive plan included cutting a whopping over $2 billion dollars from bloated government expenditures at the start of the new fiscal year of 2009. The media started screaming that Fortuno’s drastic cuts would result in over 30,000 government employees being permanently laid off. This resulted in assorted protests, marches and even eggs being thrown at the governor, which resulted in jail time for the offender, and an increased security detail to protect the governor. To quote the new Governor of Puerto Rico when he took office and discovered the massive budget deficits, and was asked if it was a mess: ” Not just a mess, we do not have enough money to meet our first payroll! ”

Governor Fortuno had the benefit of the first conservative majority in Puerto Rico in 40 years, and they immediately cut the size of the government there, which employed a whopping one out of every three workers in Puerto Rico at the time. Government had certainly gone wild in the years before Fortuno took office. Thereis also a distinct pattern of just what the government employees demanded instead of cutting the government down to size. Just like Union enabled Democrats are calling for here in the States, they demanded that Fortuno raise taxes to cover his predessor’s big government expansion! Governor Fortuno instead, signed Law 1 in 2011, which revised the entire tax code that provides, retroactive to Jan 1, 2010 tax relief  which includes a tax cut of 50% for individuals and 30% for businesses! Governor Fortuno had already cut approximately 17,000 government employees off the payroll, which did make the initial unemployment numbers increase somewhat, but long-term Puerto Rico will be able to balance it’s budget while cutting taxes at the same time.

This is a prime example of how Liberal Democrats here in America dig themselves into a financial hole through big government expansion and then demand higher taxes on everyone to pay for their vote-buying schemes in order to stay in power. Upon arrival, Governor Fortuno did not have the money to meet his first payroll! Today, Puerto Rico is well on their way to increasing business and tourism, which then translates into more tax revenue for the government to operate with. So, as the title of this article asks, did Barack Obama learn anything from Governor Fortuno’s use of sound conservative principles, in how he has put Puerto Rico on the road to fiscal solvency ? Or will Barack Obama just continue with the Socialistic big government expansion that his Liberal Democrats are currently pushing him for?  The very same ones that include tax increases to cover the irresponsible spending of Barack Obama and his big-spending Democrats who are racking up trillion dollar deficits and a Debt to GDP ration that will have the federal government in thesame position as Governor Fortuno found himself upon taking office? You know, the afore-mentioned position of not having enough money to meet the first payroll?

Be Careful Who or What You Allow to Move You!

I read an article last week by Thomas Sowell which related to a day in Barack Obama’s not too distant past, when Barack was ‘moved’ (to tears) by a message from his pastor and friend, the sometimes ostentatious and very often racist Reverend Wright. I do not accurately know the message Rev. Wright shared with Barack that day—it might have been a great Bible-based spiritual message, so I will not speculate on what exactly ‘moved’ Barack to tears. I would like to know the exact context of the message was on that day. That information would make what I am about to write about more dead-on specific for our current President. Although I do not have that specific information, fortunately, there are plenty of other historical examples of citizenry being ‘moved’ by a message or messenger that does enable me to get my point across.

First, let me say that just because people are ‘moved’ by a message or an occasion it does not mean that the message or occasion that moved them was truthful, correct, or in their best interests.. A lot of people were ‘moved’ by the idiotic or evil political or social messages of people like Carl Marx, Charles Darwin and Adolf Hitler in past, very harsh lessons learned throughout history. Worse yet, a lot of people were ‘moved’ to tears of sadness and sorrow the day evil people such as Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Ivan the Terrible, Mao Tse Tung, Idi Amin, and Genghis Khan etc. etc. etc. died. Even though the previously mentioned murderous dictators were responsible for millions of heinous deaths, they were, and still are worshiped to an extent, even today.

Being ‘moved’ to the point of tears, being moved to a deep inner conviction and/or inner enlightenment by a message or teaching that someone gives happens all the time. The problem with these inner movements of conviction, enlightenment or revelation is that a lot of people get ‘moved’ by the wrong messages or deceiving messengers. (There is a difference between right and wrong, light and dark, and evil and good.) I believe some people teach or share wrong messages simply because they are ignorant of the facts. The man-made philosophies of evolution and global warming are excellent examples of just how misinformation and propaganda can change people’s perceptions of what is right and what is wrong. I know that many people believe this false global weather scam because they listen to the inaccurate and misleading teachings of teachers who they themselves have been misled or deceived. It is truly bewildering to me to think that there are a ‘whole lot of people’ on planet earth who are genuinely convinced (i.e. so environmentally moved) that they believe they are really helping ‘Mother Nature” or ‘Mother Earth’ when they push their unrealistic go-green philosophies. Now, I am in favor of being (somewhat) environmentally responsible. E. I do not believe it is an environmentally smart thing to randomly and haphazardly store radioactive waste in populated areas. I am against dumping known toxins, chemicals, poisons, etc. etc. into the world’s waterways. I believe we need to do what is feasibly (i.e. practically and economically) possible to protect our environment. However, I do believe environmentalists have gone way too far with their ‘save the planet” movement. Anyone with more brains than a piece of toast knows that windmills and solar panels will never, ever provide enough power to keep this country running. When environmentalists are ‘moved’ to the point that they consider cow farts and CO2 environmental hazards they are moving in the wrong direction!

It is amazing me how easily people are ‘moved’ into believing things that are so foolish. We all have seen examples of the many naively false or purposely deceiving teachers simply teaching what they teach for political or economic gain. Most of the whole ‘tree hugger, ‘save the whale’ and protect the reindeer” movement is based on exaggerated and misleading information, and yet millions still fall for this politically biased philosophy. Now, once again, I am not saying that we humans should not be concerned about our environment. The good Lord put us here as stewards and made us responsible for helping to keep planet earth clean—but there is only so much we can do. However, more environmental ‘damage’ is done in one day by a spewing volcano than all the coal plants in America have ever done. So let’s be realistic here. I simply do not believe that saving a rare river snail or creek minnow at the cost of millions of jobs is the correct way to do things today, but that is a different message for a different time. However, it does amaze me how many environmental wackos have more concern for helping a beached whale then they do for helping an innocent baby that is about to be aborted in its mother’s womb!

Back to my article topic:

I have read that Adolf Hitler was a great orator. I have read that his public speeches mesmerized many who listened to him. (I have to be honest. I have listened to his public speeches and they did nothing for me. Of course I am Irish, and a strong Christian man. I believe the Lord opens the eyes both spiritually and intellectually . But nevertheless, many Germans thought Adolf to be almost like god-like. The people of Germany were so ‘moved’ by the messages of Adolf that a vast majority of these well-educated and extremely civilized German people believed it was good to not only exterminate Jews, but anyone who was not of ‘pure’ German race! Sad isn’t it? A whole nation ‘moved’ to commit horrendous atrocities such as murdering millions of Jews by the message of one deranged man!

History has shown that time after time, entire races of people or entire nations have been so moved by a message or philosophical teaching that it led to the death or serious decay of their citizenry. America went through this during our Civil War. Some American citizens were so ‘moved’ by the issue of slavery that they were willing to kill (sometimes even their own family members) just so they could have the ‘right’ to own people!

America went through another trying time in the sixties. A whole generation of young people decided that peace and love (not war and morality) were what was right for America. Thousands of people (mostly college kids and their liberal teachers) began protesting the Vietnam War. The people shouted, “Violence is not the way” and “War never solved anything” as they illegally and violently took over many of America’s larger college campuses. (By the way, I need to remind these ‘war never solved anything’ people that I know for a fact that war defeated Communism, Nazism, Fascism, and slavery, and that American warriors are presently working on wiping out crazy Islamic fundamentalists who use innocent women and children as bomb carriers.)

While these anti-war protests of the sixties were going on, this same culture of young people decided it was best for America if people were more ‘open’ in their sexual behaviors and drug usage. So this generation of young people decided to push a philosophy that taught that it was good to freely and openly express one’s sexual behaviors. An entire nation of young people was ‘moved’ by the ‘message’ of free love, peace not war, and tripping out on acid as a way to really discovers one’s “inner self.”. Our culture was changed by this whole ‘hippie love’, do drug movement, and it was not necessarily a good change! Fifty years later, look where this movement has gotten us. America is a largely doped up, sexually permissive society. There are over fifty different types of sexually transmitted diseases floating around in America these days. This ‘free love’ movement produced another dilemma; unwanted pregnancies. So free loving liberals decided America needed a law which would make it ‘legal’ to eliminate the unnecessary side-effects (i.e. babies in wombs) of sexually promiscuous people. People were so ‘moved’ by the message of free love (i.e. I will use my body as I choose) that they used this same reasoning while arguing that it should be the pregnant woman’s choice to decide if she wants to kill or keep the baby inside her womb. How dark is a society when it legally allows innocent babies to be murdered in their mother’s womb? What kind of righteous movement is that? We are throwing aborted babies in garbage cans like they are simply part of the daily trash. Yeah right, ‘free love’ and legalized abortions; those are just the kind of things I want to be moved to support. Not!

The peace/love movement of the sixties sounded real nice—but it did not turn out real nice. An entire nation of people were ‘moved’ by the peace/free love/do drugs music of the sixties. You know the saying; “ If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” America is in such a horrendous drug epidemic that I believe the only Someone who can restore this country is the good Lord Himself when He returns for his second coming. (The next time Jesus comes to planet earth he comes as a judging/avenging lion and not an innocent lamb. Paraphrased: Jesus is going to do some serious righteous ‘butt kicking’ the next time he shows up on planet earth.)

Famous leaders like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Kim Sung, Hideki Tojo, Leopold II, etc. etc. many times deceived not only other nations into thinking their political agendas were good, but also their own people. The political philosophies of these ruthless, wicked dictators ‘moved’ the people to point of assisting these evil rulers in viciously torturing and murdering millions upon millions of innocent people.

We all need to be very, very careful that the ‘movement’ our heart is following or leaning towards is not foolishness or worse yet, simply evil. The good Lord created humans with emotions and these same emotions came with a free will. No one can use words to make us do something we really do not want to do, unless they are heavily disguised words to hide theie true meaning, such as “Social Justice.” Unfortunately, way too many people allow their free will to be controlled by their emotions. Way too many people listen to what teachers or leaders are telling them without having all the facts before them, or worse yet, not even be willing to look at the facts! (A religious pastor can be taught how to be a great evangelist. Like a good actor, he or she can go to school and learn how to fire up and deceive people with words. As we now know, great orators or religious motivators like Adolf Hitler or Osama Bin laden do not necessarily make for great human beings.)

A lot of other people listen to what political, religious, social or economical teachers tell them knowing that what they are being told is wrong, but they continue to listen anyways because an inner evil part of them likes what they are hearing. Racist skin-head preachers or promoters are a good example of this. A lot of their ‘followers’ are people who like what these (mostly anti-black people) racist skin-head leaders teach simply because the person listening to them already hates minorities. So these new followers use the racist movement of groups like the skin-head as justification for hating minorities. After all there is power in numbers. A movement, right or wrong, does not need a lot of followers to become a movement. The wacko religious cult known as Heaven’s Gate moved (with its message) 38 people to commit suicide so they supposedly could catch a comet ride to heaven. What is scary about a lot of these religious and political movements is that it is hard to get out once you get in. It is very, very difficult to convince liberals who have been moved by a deceiving socialistic message that socialism does not work. It is hard to convince religious people who get moved by a cult religious teacher that they are on the wrong path of ‘light.’ As with the Heaven’s Gate’s followers, once people move in a certain direction it is very, very difficult to get them to back-up. So, please be careful what you get moved about.

It is difficult for me to understand why intelligent, non-doped up or non-drunk people are moved by messages or philosophies that are obviously wrong or just plain evil. It saddens me that there is a group of hateful, evil people out there in America who did belong, and still belong to groups who’s sole purpose is to try to eliminate (innocent) fellow Americans of minority races! What ‘moves’ people to even listen to idiots like this? However, it happens all the time!

I guess I am just too logical, practical and analytical to fall for these self-centered, evil, selfish things. (Although I am quite aware that peer pressure is a very powerful influence in some people’s lives.) I challenge the movement that promotes hating people because of their skin color. Hey, all you idiotic skin-head types need to read the part of the American constitution which states that the good Lord created all people equal, although in your case he did not create people with the same intelligence! (I say that sarcastically. I do not want people who follow stupid, evil promoters of racism to use stupidity as justification for your evil philosophies.)

I also challenge those people of ‘science’ who promote a movement which time after time attempts to debunk the wisdom of God. Many times people who ‘get intelligence’, (through supposed places of ‘higher learning’) actually become dumber than they were before they got educated. It always amazes me how some people, who once they get educated suddenly think they are smarter than The One who created all things. You secular geniuses cannot even figure out how light works, and yet you believe you have the wisdom to explain the deep complexities of this universe. You guys do not have a clue on the diverse intricacies of a simple cell, and yet you spew out your idiotic movement that all life happened by random chance! Some would say that the Theory of Evolution is simply science fiction at its best. And in spite of the fact that this idiotic ‘movement’ is ridiculously idiotic—and mathematically impossible—millions follow this movement like lemmings headed to the cliff. So I have a question for all those self-proclaimed academics
out there: “ Just how did all those glaciers melt on planet earth a few thousand years ago? Were there too many tepee factories around back then? ”
Who’s “ carbon footprint ” can you blame that episode in world history and evolution on ?

So be careful people, on just who or what you allow to shape your perceptions of what is right and what is wrong today. Some people are trained to manipulate you to go against what you know is the right thing to believe in, today in America. The future of America depends of all of us to seek the truth on our own, and that must include denouncing what anti-American propagandists with an agenda are telling us. The truth, and only the truth shall set you free.

A Totally Shocking Call from My Grandmother, a Lifelong Democrat.

My Grandmother was born in 1917, and is now 93 years old. She called here earlier this week, and the discussion that followed was very informative about what is happening in today’s political arena and why. The phone rang and I hear my Mother getting into a heated discussion about the state of America today, and President Obama.  My mother is also a lifelong Democrat like my Grandmother , but there is one glaring difference between the two today.  That difference can be summed up by the fact that my Mother is now a registered Republican who has seen the total dismantling of the true Democratic Party that both of them grew up worshipping.  Gram, on the other hand, while on the phone was sounding more like Nancy Pelosi than the woman who had raised my Mother.  To say the fur was flying here during this “discussion” would be a huge understatement. I hear my Mother asking my Grandmother things like ,” Oh ya, just what has Obama done for this country today, and Do you know how far in debt this man has put this country in 2 short years Ma?”  My Mother informs me that Gram said we are $14 trillion dollars in debt today because of George Bush! I could just sense my Mother’s head getting ready to explode. Mom is a retired doctor’s office manager and insurance billing expert, who really knows the damage to our health system Obamacare will do, and also has a good head for figures and budgeting as far as our debt is concerned. Boy things were heating up real fast here.

The conversation reached a feverish pitch, and knowing that my Mother has high blood pressure, I realised that I had better try to defuse the situation, so I headed on into the living room. You see, both of these women are very strong-minded to put it lightly, and as to not get myself in trouble here. You can bet both of them will be either hearing or reading about this article airing some family business here eventually. I don’t write this easily, or with any bad intentions. My reason for writing it is very simple. There is an all-telling pattern here, of just how bad the malfeasance and misinformation in the media is today, and how they have affected all parts of our society. Gram is 93 years old, and Mom is the next generation, then there is myself and my siblings, and after that comes the grand-kids and  great grand-kids.     Starting with Gram, our family has seen 17 Presidents, starting with Woodrow Wilson, who was in office when Gram was born. With the start of propaganda campaigns way back in the days of Edward Bernays, who started his propaganda career in 1913 as a “press agent,” I find myself wondering  just how much  Bernay’s early propaganda campaigns could have affected my Grandmother’s opinions of  what is right and wrong in the world today. Check out Bernay’s bio at the bottom of the page for a look into the start of propaganda and mind manipulation in America.* Very interesting information there.

During the telephone conversation, I originally intended to try to calm my Mom down when I walked into the living room. I could see that my Mom was getting nowhere with her Mother and getting very upset. What I didn’t count, on was my Mother handing me the phone and telling me,” Here, you talk some sense into her.” So I took a deep breath and took the phone. I started off with the usual, “Hi Gram how are you, hope your are feeling better today.”  You see, my Mother knows that I know my facts bout our situation in America today, and the fact that I will never be bullied by someone giving blind support to the Obama agenda just because they are  a life-long Democrat. That kind of thinking has us in real trouble today. That is also why I am a registered Independent. It doesn’t take long before my Grandmother gets around to talking politics and about one Barack Hussein Obama. I had just heard her control the conversation with my mother through the very same tactics used by the Liberal ( fake Democratic) party of today. I decided right then and there, that I would take charge of the conversation immediately and I did so as gently as could be done. I told Gram the basics of the Media (Bernay’s method) propaganda and that I don’t get my news from the TV today like she does. Then I laid out some facts for her, with the understanding that my facts come from Congressional records, reports, and legislation that I had personally read. I also told her I don’t  make statements or write news articles based solely on some self-important clown’s opinion that I see on TV. Most of those people today have an agenda, and are effectively working hard to change the way people perceive the truth to be.  I try to deal in facts Gram, period.  She asked a few mild questions, and I knew right then and there that this conversation would be a real eye-opener for my Grandmother, God Bless her.

Gram’s take on our national debt was initially stated as that it is ALL George Bushes fault. Geez, I wonder where she heard that from? Yes, she watches a little TV nowadays, since she no longer gets around much. My rebuttal to her thinking that all of today’s current debt is GWB’s fault, was that while the Democrats have controlled the U. S. Senate and House for the last 4 full years,  our National Debt** has risen from $8.5 trillion dollars at the end of 2006, to a whopping $13.5 trillion at the end of 2010.  Grams response? Oh really, that much? Well Gram that is not totally true, as we have to add the residue of the Democrats current spending spree, aided by irresponsible Republicans for the last decade , and the $1.62 trillion dollars of more debt projected for 2011. Then I proceeded to tell her that the next time the grand-kids and great grand-kids come over to visit her, right down to the babies in the strollers, remember that each of them owes an incredible $1 million and 15,000 dollars*** right now, before many of them even get into school. I,d also like to hear you explain how good Obama and the current Liberal Democrats are for those children today Gram. Score one for the truth in numbers theory there.

Gram thinks Obamacare will be very good for her and the country. Oh really Gram? How can that be, when the first program to be cut to pay for free healthcare for the non-producing freeloaders of society and illegal aliens who are not U.S citizens,  is the $500 billion dollars Obama is taking out of your very own medicare plan? Her reply? ” That’s not true Daniel.”  “I,m sorry Gram, yes it is,  it is just that the Obama administration and today’s Media propagandists you are watching on your TV want you to just forget about that little fact. How are you going to have better medical care, Gram when they take away $500 billion from your medicare program? ”  “Oh my gosh,” was the only response to that fact. Unlike the Democrats and ex-Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gram, I actually read the bill, instead of waiting until they passed it to find out what was in it, as the former Speaker of the House stated on National TV.  That is correct Gram, they passed a  2000 page bill onto the American people without even reading it, or knowing what is in it. This is not the Democratic Party you grew up with that actually represented the working class people and the poor in this country. This is a group of Socialists borderline Communists that are trying to collapse America’s economy through wealth redistribution. The proof is in the fact that Obama wants to take billions of dollars of Seniors medicare and share it with non-producing people and illegal aliens, which they are doing right now anyway. I gave her some stats on  just one hospital in Texas that I had on hand, about the millions of medicaid dollars spent on illegal anchor babies being born there. She was so shocked to hear the truth, that all she could ask is how can they get away with that stuff today? The answer to that little question lies directly in the facts about how certain  Democratic Party controlled States have been spawning illegal sanctuary cities. See California, Washington State and Oregon to name a few.

“These people are nothing like the true Democrats you and Gramps had been voting for all your lives.” This statement lead to the next revelation about the new Democrats of today, that my 93 year old Grandmother is still worshipping based solely on the principles of  the Democratic values of 50 years ago. I asked her, “Do you know that the Democrats organized a One Nation Rally*** in Washington DC Gram?”  “What was this,” she asked. I replied, “Well, we had many Unions there that all support and give millions in campaign contributions to Obama and  today’s Democrats, Gram. There was also Communist propaganda and books, like the famous Communist Manifesto sold at this rally, Gram.”  “You are kidding me Daniel,” she replied, “That surely can’t be true, right in our nation’s capitol?”  I replied, ” I,m sorry to tell you this Gram, but it is true, and I have the pictures of the One Nation Rally in DC to prove it!”  The silence on the other end of the line was quite saddening. I do not like tearing down the Democratic Party that my Grandmother has been a part of  for several decades, yet neither do I want her unknowingly spreading today’s liberal propaganda onto the next generations of our family that visit her these days. Our youth are our future, and they are also more easily manipulated by propaganda than us older folks that understand the importance of our capitalistic system. That evil capitalism that the Liberals hate so much has ensured prosperity for our people, and it has proven to do so during our country’s entire existence.

My Grandmother has been a lifelong very devoted Catholic who believes in the Lord and prays daily. When I explained about the Liberal/Democratic agenda of  banning the pledge of allegiance and daily prayer we have seen recently, or any reference to God almighty in our school system being condemned, her very animated response was pretty much self-exclamatory: “What kind of people would do such terrible stuff ?” My response? “Today’s Liberal Democratic Party is who is behind that stuff!”  That lead to a discussion about our founding fathers and whether they were religious or not. Gram’s response? “Of course they believed in God, Daniel, they were very hard working men who prayed daily.” I said,  “Not according to most of today’s Democrats.”

While our conversation went further into other assorted topics of today’s politics, the main lesson I was trying to convey to her was that the once heroic news broadcasts of years gone by appear to have been an experiment in mind manipulation that was created to change people’s perception of  what was happening in America at the time.  With Mr. Bernay’s admissions of his usage of the media to manipulate the masses as early as 1913,  four years before my Grandmother was born, we have to wonder about FDR’s Fireside Chat radio newscasts to the nation back in the 1930’s, and wonder how truthful they actually were. Looking back at my conversation with my Grandmother recently, and her blanket statement of how good President Obama is doing for the country today while we face $15 trillion dollars in debt  by the end of this year, I,d have to say the Bernay’s media manipulation experiment is being proven to be very successful . My Grandmother,  a lifelong  supporter of the Democratic Party that used to actually stand for the poor and working class, while also working for the betterment of the country, is now in support of the Liberal Socialist Party of today. I,m sorry Gram, but this is not the Democratic Party that the propagandists are working so hard to make you believe.  As a matter of fact, they are just the opposite.

2012 Presidential Profile: Donald Trump

When people talk about Donald Trump running for President in 2012, we often hear a question made famous by another politician last year. The question is “Are you serious?”  Donald trump  for President ? Are you serious?  The politician also known as The S. F. Queen of Liberalism, one Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, also made this question quite famous in 2010. A reporter had  asked her to state where in the U.S. Constitution did it give Congress the authority to force people to buy healthcare? She replied several times, “Are you serious?”   Well we were quite serious Nancy, as you witnessed  the complete thrashing of your Liberal Democratic party  in the 2010 elections. When we try to evaluate, or score Mr. Trump in Conservative values today, we come up with a handful of air. Anyone who has read my previous columns will see that I am pretty much a hard-line Constitutional Conservative. When someone tells me Trump might make a good Republican President today, I am left with that now famous answer phrased as a question.  “Are you people serious?”

I can hear all the Trump band-wagon jumpers sighing right now about how I am being unfair, or that I am uninformed about the “New Republican Donald Trump,” blah blah blah. While I do state some heavy opinions in my coulmns here at CDN, I also state my reasons and any pertinent facts behind my statements without bias. They call that being a straight-shooter where I come from, and as far as today’s politics goes, we see way too little of this, from what I see today. I was one of the first people to start my twitter profile with, “I am not P/C,  (politically correct) as that is the message control mainly used by decades of Democratic Party Propaganda. Let’s get back to trying to decipher just how “conservative”  Donald Trump is today. I was going to title this article the Two Faces of Donald Trump originally, and below you will see why.

Here on the left is Donald in 1999                Here on the right is Donald in 2011

Abortion I,m pro-choice he said 1999    At CPAC he stated that he is now Pro-Life.

Healthcare Called for single-payer in book  Says Obamacare needs to be repealed

Gay Marriage Took no stance on gay marriage  Recently said he not in favor of gay marriage

“R” or “D” or “I” In 1999 he went from ‘R” to “I” to run for Pres. Switched to ‘D” in 2001. (a 2 year span- 3 parties)       Republican since 1999  (supposedly)

Favorability rating in 1999 was 33%   Favorability rating in  2011  is 29%

To be fair, some people do an about face in life’s philosophy at different ages. I consider some of these changes in ideology to be nothing more than the acceptance of  basic reality, as related to the evolving of our society at the time of change. What I find hard to believe is that a life-long capitalist to the tenth degree, such as Donald Trump, can go from one extreme ideology to another in short spans of his life. The abortion stance is all-telling here. Pro- abortion to pro- life shows a lack of solid core values, in my opinion. Supporting Obama’s Socialist Medicine, even at one point going so far as to want a single-payer healthcare system, shows us an anti-Capitalist ideology at it roots. This coming to us from a billionaire capitalist shows us the elitist attitude that there is one set of rules for the working class, and yet another set for the elite, just like most of the Tyrants in DC today.  One last statement Trump is on record as saying,  is that most of his business friends today are Democrats. The same Democrats that have had unchecked power in Congress for the last 4 years are his current set of friends. Democrats took a historic beating in 2010, and now the “New Donald” wants to run for President as a Republican. There can be no solid conservative scoring done on Trump today, simply because he changes his supposed core values almost as much as Charlie Crist does down here in Florida . Trump in 2012? “Are you serious?”

UPDATE: 3/22/2011.  Apparently Donald Trump is quite serious in making a bid for President in 2012. He recently re-energized his *campaign* with a real shocker while taking a hardline stance on a certain issue, yet while  I do not find this issue shocking but more in line with common sense thinking, I do find the neanderthalic rhetoric coming from the uninformed puppets attacking him very entertaining!   Keep in mind that his approval ratings jumped considerably after this video went viral.

Update: On May 16, Donald Trump announced he would not be running for President.
