People Flock to Chik-fil-A!

cf6

Reports are coming in from all over the country – Chick-fil-A stores are jammed. Some people are reporting a two hour wait and drive-thru’s are lined up around the corner.

Conservative former Governor Mike Hukabee declared today to be Chick-fil-A day and people have flocked in to chicken stores across the country to support first amendment rights.

The controversy started when Dan Cathy spoke in favor of one man, one woman marriage in an interview with the Baptist Press.

The interview was followed by threats from the mayors of Chicago and Boston to refuse business licenses to the restaurant chain.

Gay rights activists are calling for a Chick-fil-A “kiss in” on Friday. Many conservatives have vowed on Twitter to come out and buy more chicken sandwiches on that day as well.

All Day, Chick-fil-A!

Today is Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Mike Huckabee started the campaign, explaining in part:

I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick Fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story. Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick Fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO.It’s a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.

The Chick Fil-A company refuses to open on Sundays so that their employees can go to church if they wish. Despite the pressure from malls, airports, and the business world to open on Sundays, they still don’t. They treat customers and employees with respect and dignity.

I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 “Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let’s affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1.

For our family, Chick-fil-A has always been a favorite, but when Mr. Cathy made his statement, and the left came out boycotting Chick-fil-A, it became our goal to eat Chick-fil-A whenever we decided to have fast food.  For today, we decided that all of our meals would be Chick-fil-A.
It had been my goal to get up and take the kids to breakfast, but with it being summer, they are in the habit of sleeping later. Foregoing breakfast, we decided to meet up with a friend for lunch.

Janell Edwards, Owner
Chick-fil-A # 1090

One of the Chick-fil-A locations we frequent for lunch is in a very busy shopping center, and is always busy, so we decided to go early, knowing that today would be even busier for the Appreciation Day. We arrived at Chick-fil-A, Restaurant Number 1090 in The Forum Shopping Center in Selma, Texas at 11am, and there was already a long line. We sent the kids to play on the playground, and we took turns ordering food. While waiting for my food, I overheard two ladies discussing how they were going to get all of their food to the car, as they had to park a good distance from the restaurant. I told them I would be more than happy to help them with their food, and we struck up a conversation. They told me that they had a lot of to-go orders for their office, and explained that their boss had bought Chick-fil-A for lunch for the entire office. I told Robin to be sure and tell her boss at Technos Corporation THANK YOU! To know that another businessman is stepping up to not only support Chick-fil-A, but to treat his employees to lunch as well is heartwarming!
UPDATE:After emailing Robin to share this article with her, both she and, Mike Nelson, a salesman with Technos, emailed me back. Mike enclosed two pictures, saying:”Robin and the other 54 employees at Technos certainly enjoyed their Chick-Fil-A lunch today! (see pics)”.  I would like to personally thank Philip Neal, the owner of Technos, for treating his employees to a wonderful Chick-fil-A lunch! God bless you, sir!
By this time, the lines were out the door. You literally had to turn sideways to move through the crowd, yet no one was cranky or out of hand. All around people were talking with each other, telling why today was so important to them.
Another lady that was standing by us, waiting for her food, said it was nice to see Christians finally starting to stand up for their rights. She talked about how everyone talks about tolerance, yet no one wants to tolerate our Christian views.
One lady spoke up loud enough for everyone inside the restaurant to hear, thanking all of the Chick-fil-A employees, telling them they were doing a great job! A round of applause went up from all around the restaurant.
It truly was like  a huge family reunion. You may not have known the person next to you, but you talked to them. There were nothing but smiles all around, as people helped other people they did not know. When a drink re-fill was needed, other customers helped pass the cups back and forth. When a pregnant lady was obviously exhausted from waiting in line, she was offered a chair to sit at a table where others were dining.
We met a group of men who have Bible Study at a Harley Davidson shop every Wednesday morning, and part of their group was there, supporting Chick-fil-A’s stand. One man in the group, Tim, has never eaten at Chick-fil-A. He told us he doesn’t even like chicken, but is supporting them because of the stand they have taken. Allan, another gentleman in the group, brought tears to my eyes as he prayed over their lunch! His voice was strong and mighty, proclaiming God’s Word, and praying against the evil forces coming against Chick-fil-A and our nation.
Our friend was in line by a lady who was buying food in honor of her friends who are in Iraq, saying that though their friends would not be able to enjoy the food with them, they would eat it for dinner tonight.
There were many amazing moments as we sat there for a little more than 2 hours, but the most amazing moment of all was when a young man in his mid-20’s walked out, lifting his voice as he exited, proclaiming:
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall forever be on my lips.”
Psalm 34:1

As he walked through the last exit door, all you could hear was a resounding, “AMEN!”

When we left, people were lined up outside almost to the Drive-Through line on one side, and just about that long on the other side. There were cars backed up almost to the access road of the freeway on one side, and around 2 other restaurants, waiting to get into Chick-fil-A’s driveway. We saw people walking from all four corners, having parked in other parking lots, but walking to Chick-fil-A.

Lunch was absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to see what happens at dinner!

Chick-fil-A, ALL DAY!

The Insufferable Left Wing Crusade Against Chick-Fil-A

Public Enemy #1...If You're Liberal

Public Enemy #1…If You’re Liberal

I’m shocked at Chick-fil-A.  They advocate for a traditional family unit as described in the bible.  This is very controversial and marginalizing their bases of operation is critical in stopping bigotry and would be a critical victory for the gay rights movement.  That’s literally what liberals think about this whole kerfuffle surrounding what Dan Cathy, President and COO of Chick-fil-A, said about the company’s stance on gay marriage.  After a report was released by Equality Matters, a branch of the liberal Media Matters for America, the contents revealed that “Chick-fil-A donated more than $3 million between 2003 and 2009 to Christian groups that oppose homosexuality. In 2010 alone, the company gave nearly $2 million to such causes, according to the report.”  Wow.  People who are opposed to homosexuality and gay marriage.  I’m shocked. Yet, I’m not convinced that Dan Cathy said anything that could be classified as anti-gay.

As reported in the LA Times:

Chick-fil-A is very much supportive of the family, according to Dan Cathy, president of the popular fast food chain. That is, the biblical definition of the family unit, he said. And that doesn’t include Adam and Steve, suggests Cathy, whose father S. Truett Cathy founded the Atlanta-based company. In a new interview with Baptist Press, Cathy puts on the record what critics say his company’s actions have indicated for years. Well, guilty as charged, he said in the interview when asked about Chick-fil-A’s backing of families led by a man and a woman. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives,” Cathy said. The chain, according to the report, has 1,608 restaurants, sales of more than $4 billion and employees who are trained to focus on values rooted in the Bible. Chick-fil-A’s across the country shut down on Sundays. We don’t claim to be a Christian business,” Cathy said. But as an organization we can operate on biblical principles.

I didn’t hear any epithets or anti-gay rehtoric.  All I heard was that Mr. Cathy and the company he works for doesn’t support gay marriage.  There is a difference.

Well, this has set off the biggest left wing overreaction  that I haven’t seen in a long time and it’s downright hilarious as it is disturbing. Apparently, Big Bird lobbied heavily to get The Muppets to cut ties with the company and donate all their proceeds to GLAAD.  It’s sad to see a great cornerstone in children’s entertainment become so easily swayed by the nonsense spewed by left wing activists.  They’ve whored themselves out to the radical left and I blame Swedish Chef for not being vocal enough in stopping this inane move by the Jim Henson Company. I personally feel that Mr. Snaffalupagus should have curb stomped Bird Bird.  We all know he was a closet liberal.

It’s all your fault!

However, more politicians are getting their panties in a bunch over this.  As Chicago is drowning in its own blood, Mayor Rahm Emanuel decided to put a hold on everything and declare war on chicken sandwiches. In fact, “he said the comments disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents, and therefore building the restaurant in Chicago would be a bad investment, since it would be empty.”  Have you had their sandwiches Mr. Mayor? They’re F-ing delicious!

In Boston, which is known for their tolerance since the city desegregated their schools in the 1970s, Mayor Menino “sent a letter to Chick-Fil-A’s President Dan Cathy. In the letter Menino calls out Cathy for his  prejudiced statements against same-sex marriage and said that having a branch of the restaurant chain across from City Hall would be an insult.”

Menino got the Human Rights Campaign slobbering all over him in their statement:

We applaud Mayor Menino for calling out Chick-fil-A’s anti-LGBT practices. We have been asking people to make their own decisions about whether to continue supporting Chick-fil-A based on the facts available, and Mayor Menino has done just that. Mayor Menino’s rebuke of Chick-fil-A sends a strong messages that their habit of supporting hateful organizations that demonize LGBT Americans are out-of-step with not just Bostonians, but the majority of fair-minded Americans. Chick-fil-A is on the wrong side of history, and we look forward to seeing more and more elected officials and businesses speak out against their discriminatory practices.

So will HRC condemn Mayor Emanuel’s public embrace of Louis Farrakahn? As Kyle Becker of the Independent Journal posted today:

The Weekly Standard reports, Farrakhan was careful to couch his opposition to gay marriage as ‘not homophobic’:

Males coming to males with lust in their hearts as they should to a female,” he said. “Now don’t you dare say Farrakhan was preaching hate; he’s homophobic. I’m not afraid of my brothers and sisters or others who may be practicing what God condemned in the days of Lot. That’s not our job to be hateful of our people. Our job is to call us to sanity.”

Farrakhan goes on to call out clergy who support gay marriage, saying they are placing society’s needs over God’s.

“Is this the book that you believe in, but now you(‘re) backing down from an aspect of it because people will get offended?” he asked.”

Nothing Mr. Cathy said was anti-gay.  Again, he’s for traditional marriage, which half the country supports.  It’s not controversial.  Some people are simply against gay marriage and the Left needs to get over it.  However, I’m glad to see that some liberals are noticing that this isn’t the right battle.  Adam Serwer of Mother Jones stated:

Menino and Moreno have it wrong. Blocking construction of Chick-fil-a restaurants over Cathy’s views is a violation of Cathy’s First Amendment rights. Boston and Chicago have no more right to stop construction of Chick-fil-As based on an executive’s anti-gay views than New York City would have had the right to block construction of an Islamic community center blocks away from Ground Zero. The government blocking a business from opening based on the owner’s political views is a clear threat to everyone’s freedom of speech—being unpopular doesn’t mean you don’t have rights.

While we may disagree concerning the Ground Zero Mosque, Serwer hits it on the head concerning the threat this could pose to our  First Amendment rights.  It’s also anti-capitalist.  This Chick-Fil-A “controversy” is a convenient smoke screen initiated by the left to hide the president’s record since they’re running out of excuses.  While I plan to attend National Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on August 1st, I will take pleasure as I sink my teeth into that chicken sandwich that the Olympics will overshadow this trivial episode in American politics.

Christian Ideals Not Welcome in Chicago or Boston?

800px-ChickFilA-ChickenSandwich

Since January 1 there have been 300 murders in Chicago. The terrible violence in the city, often killing innocent children does not seem to make the news. But, when Rahm Emanuel heard about Chick-Fil-A being a company founded on Christian beliefs, suddenly it was “Stop the Presses!” This was a major news story.

Really?

Did you hear about this?

A quick background: The president of Chick-Fil-A Dan Cathy was quoted in the Baptist Press saying he was “guilty as charged” for supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

In response the mayors of Boston and Chicago have published statements indicating that this business is not reflective of their communities and they are not welcome in their cities.

Chicago Tribune: Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a statement. “They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents.”

Emanuel was vowing his support for Alderman Moreno’s announcement that he would block construction of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in his district.

The owner of the only Chicago Chick-Fil-A store, like many, has taken offense at Emanuel’s statement.  Silich has asked for a meeting with Emmanuel.

Chicago Tribune: Lauren Silich, who owns a Chick-fil-A franchise just off the Magnificent Mile that opened last year, wrote in a press release that she is dedicated to “serving all of our guests with honor, dignity and respect. . . . We alone created 97 jobs this past year and our passion is building leaders for future generations, regardless of sexual orientation or beliefs.”

Boston Mayor Menino said he would block the chain from opening in Boston because of Cathy’s opposition to gay marriage.

Yahoo News: “In recent days you said Chick-fil-A opposes same-sex marriage and said the generation that supports it has ‘an arrogant attitude,'” Menino wrote in a letter dated July 20.  “Now—incredibly—your company says you are backing out of the same-sex marriage debate. I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston.”

In response former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has organized a support Chick-Fil-A day.

“The goal is simple: Let’s affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1,” Huckabee wrote on Facebook.

“If Chick fil-A forced its customers to sign an oath stating they are heterosexual before they could buy a chicken sandwich, the angry critics would not only have a point, but I would join them. I think it is great that Chick-fil-A is run by people with a Biblical world view and they operate it based on Biblical values, but there is a bigger issue. That’s not what this is about. The company sells chicken and doesn’t force a view on its customers or employees, but the owners shouldn’t be disenfranchised from their citizenship and rights of free speech, nor should they be kept from operating their business in cities across the country because a few “wanna be tyrants” disagree with their beliefs.”

Others agree. In an editorial the Los Angeles Times published their concern over the Chick-Fil-A President Cathy’s first amendment rights.

“We disagree heartily with Cathy, but are far more troubled by the reaction of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, who vowed to block Chick-fil-A’s effort to open an outlet in that city.”

I am reminded of Chick-fil-A’s beliefs every time I drive past one on Sunday and see they’re closed. I respect this decision but each time think how much business they might have if only they were open. . . If I find this company’s prominent religious belief offensive I can choose not to shop there.

As a conservative I don’t have to believe what the Cathy family does but I will staunchly defend their right to free speech. If the company does not discriminate and follows the Civil Rights Code then they should have every right to build—or not build in an area. The mayors and aldermen blocking a business solely on its religion is appalling. There are many of us in the silent majority. We cannot allow the loud voices of the minority liberal take away our rights.

I don’t know about you but all this fuss makes me think I might need to, “Eat More Chikin.”

Mayor of Boston fights for civil rights by attacking Chick-fil-A?

The Truth: Last weekend, Chick Fil A publicly announced the following message on their Facebook Page.

The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 Restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.

Chick-fil-A is a family-owned and family-led company serving the communities in which it operates. From the day Truett Cathy started the company, he began applying biblically-based principles to managing his business. For example, we believe that closing on Sundays, operating debt-free and devoting a percentage of our profits back to our communities are what make us a stronger company and Chick-fil-A family.

Our mission is simple: to serve great food, provide genuine hospitality and have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.

This of course preceded an original statement released by Dan Cathy:

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage, I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

Of course, this belief is automatically labeled by the left side of the political spectrum as ‘Hate Speech’ and therefore must be silenced.

Case in point, the mayor of Boston has recently announced to the Boston Herald that he will work to prevent Chick-Fil-A from opening a restaurant in his city, following Chick-Fil-A’s statement. He is quoted as followed: “You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.

Mayor Menino has been backed my many Liberals across the nation who are vouching for a boycott of the famous restaurant chain. For example, many Liberals have taken to Twitter to express their frustration.

My Opinion:

My opinion is simple, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone should be allowed to share their opinion. If they are criticized because their opinion is illogical, then that’s their problem. I myself share the beliefs and common opinions with Mr. Cathy, and he has my 100% support on this issue.

The simple fact of the matter is this: If a company came out and said they were in support of Gay Marriage, what would happen? Something tells me the Boston Government would not intervene. That’s because it’s not their place. Even though the nation is divided almost equally on the issue of Gay Marriage, the local government still wrongly forced their view of the issue on a business that was suppose to be operating in a free enterprise environment.

Mr. Mayor, let me ask you this: has Chick-Fil-A turned people away because they were homosexual? No. Have they asked people if they are heterosexual, or homosexual before they allow them to place an order for a meal? No. Atleast, I’ve never been asked that question.

Believe me, I eat a lot of Chick Fil A.

The attacks launched by Mayor Menino are not patriotic, he may believe he is standing up for ‘Civil Rights’ but he is merely launching an attack on a business because of the morals and beliefs they support and encourage. That is simply wrong and unconstitutional. His actions are simple: boycott and harm those who he disagrees with in order to gain more support from his constituents.

Mayor Menino, if you are a man of morals, a man who stands up for Civil Rights, then I would encourage you to go after a different business: Planned Parenthood. Do they have beliefs? Sure. Are they entitled to their beliefs? Yes they are. What are their beliefs? Well, they are openly Pro-Choice, simply stating that they are Pro-Abortion. Would you boycott them if they wanted to open a new center? I’m not sure you wouldn’t, but want thing I do know for sure is that they do preform abortions, therefore, practicing their beliefs.

Being in a position of authority, especially in the American Government, it is flat our wrong to pick winners and losers.

Chick-Fil-A has beliefs but does not force them on others. If you want to be a Civil Rights activist, a true activist, then fight for the defenseless unborn. I advise you to contact and put pressure on the local Planned Parenthood center, they truly discriminate.  Chick-Fil-A believes in traditional marriage, but is not discriminating upon others. Want to fight for Civil Rights? Here, I’ll help you out! Their address is:  1055 Commonwealth Avenue Boston, MA 02215. Oh and their phone number? (800) 258-4448

Stand up for real Civil Rights, Mayor Menino.
