Obama Relying on Small Donors Worldwide

Yes, there is a law against political campaigns in the U.S. soliciting or accepting donations from citizens of other nations. Even Citizens United did not open that as option. But, it’s a distinct possibility that the Obama campaign has been doing just that, under the radar with small donations.

This morning on Fox News, it was pointed out that there have been some “irregularities” on the Obama campaign website, when it comes to donations. The law states that donations of $200 or greater must be reported. But, the Obama camp is relying heavily on small dollar donations, and according to web-tracking, some of them could be coming from other countries, including Persian Gulf States and China. Additionally, the website does not ask for the security code on the back of individuals’ credit cards, increasing the probability that there are fraudulent donations made with stolen card numbers.

Of course, this is not new for the Obama campaign – it could be argued at this point that it is an actual strategy on their part. The Daily Beast reported almost exactly four years ago on this same issue with the Obama camp. Then, it was a matter of anonymous donors using apparently fake names and addresses to make multiple small donations. It was caught on the radar that time, because the sum total donations from certain individuals far exceeded the $200 ceiling, and for that matter, the $5000 personal limit. That time, it included two Palestinians in Gaza – the excuse then was that the Obama camp had assumed “Ga” meant Georgia. Since that involved purchasing campaign shirts, the excuse falls a little flat, assuming that the shirts actually made it to Gaza.

This campaign cycle, Obama supporters are regularly hit with emails requesting small dollar donations – $5 is a typical request, while they do occasionally ask for amounts like $14 or $20. It will undoubtedly be argued ad nauseum that this tactic tips the fundraising scales unfairly in Obama’s favor, and is hated by big dollar donors to the SuperPAC’s. But, the legality of the situation needs to be addressed as well. And there is no excuse, period.

The technology is available to prevent foreign small dollar donations to any campaign soliciting money online. Doubt that? Try visiting the British site for BBC, and try viewing their programming. You will be met with a notice stating that the media in question is unavailable to you. Their system recognizes if someone is attempting to access their content from a foreign nation. Could it be hacked? Probably. However, failing to use such a security feature implies that the Obama campaign honestly doesn’t care about even attempting to abide by campaign funding law. Of course, it could also be argued that they don’t care about their donors either, since they have failed to use the online purchasing security options suggested by card-issuers. “It’s all about the money.”

Obama Individual Mandate Hypocrisy

On the campaign trail in Cincinnati, President Obama criticized Mitt Romney for flip-flopping his position on the indivudal mandate, apparently because of displeasure among the right wing Washington elites. Obama stated that as governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney supported an individual mandate, then suddenly reversed his position because of right wing pressure:

“And the fact that a whole bunch of Republicans in Washington suddenly said, this is a tax — for six years he said it wasn’t, and now he has suddenly reversed himself. So the question becomes, are you doing that because of politics? Are you abandoning a principle that you fought for, for six years simply because you’re getting pressure for two days from Rush Limbaugh or some critics in Washington?

However, Mitt Romney has never fought for the so-called principle of an individual mandate on a national level. He’s never renounced the individual mandate in Romneycare,  to the chagrin of much of the Republican electorate. In every Republican debate this year, he firmly defended the individual mandate, but on a state level. Romney believes healthcare, and a purchase mandate in particular, is a program states should decide to implement. He has never backed down from that position, despite criticism from right-wing figures like Rush Limbaugh, and he’s never supported a national purchase mandate. In essence, he’s never flip-flopped on the issue.

The same, however, cannot be said for Obama’s position on federal purchase mandates.

As a presidential candidate in 2008, in an interview with CNN, he strongly dismissed the idea of an individual mandate.

So, who is abandoning principles Mr. President? Mitt Romney, who at least seems to grasp the concept of federalism, or you, whose position has completely flipped over the past 4 years?

Obama’s Jobs Ad

In theWashington Free Beacon is an article entitled “Shovel-Ready in Europe,” a reference to President Barack Hussein Obama’s latest campaign advertisement that touts his jobs creation prowess through Department of Energy (DOE) loans. There are three problems with the ad. First, the ad mentions nothing about taxpayer money spent on failing or failed green energy companies. Second, the ad mentions nothing about taxpayer money spent on foreign owned companies and/or foreign manufactured goods. Third, it mentions nothing about the cost per job.

The ad claims to contrast Obama’s record with George Romney. It accuses Romney, during his tenure at Bain Capital, of having “shipped American jobs to places like Mexico and China.”

So, with the ad’s accusation of Romney’s jobs performance, let’s examine how well Obama has done – with creating jobs, foreign jobs, and taxpayer money.

  • Ford Motor Company: Ford did not accept bail-out money, but it has received a $6 billion taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. And guess where it is expanding – China and India! Neither China nor India were, the last time I looked, within the US. But Obama is to be forgiven since he is a citizen of the world. The India plant will produce 5,000 jobs. No word on how many jobs Ford’s China expansion will create, but its vehicle production capacity will double.
  • Abengoa: the Spanish clean energy conglomerate got not one, but three taxpayer-guaranteed loans from DOE worth $2.78 billion, to build Mojave Solar, Abengoa Solar, Inc. (Solana), and Abengoa Bioenergy Biomass of Kansas LLC. The Madrid-based conglomerate is valued at $25.5 billion, had a 2009 cash flow of $4 billion, and a net profit of $288 million. So why did Abengoa need a DOE loan? It didn’t, but got one anyway because of its ties to the Democrat party, including former vice president AlGore and Democrat lobbyist Mark Rokala. And how many permanent jobs were created for $2.78 billion? One hundred ninety five, or more than $14 million per job.
  • Fisker Automotive: Fisker received a $529 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It originally tried to be profitable in a former GM factory in Delaware. Its Karma automobile is now built in Finland. And this the same Fisker whose Karma automobile caused a house firein Texas.
  • Babcock & Brown received $178 million from DOE. It filed for bankruptcy protection. And it is an Australian company!

Regarding the jobs to taxpayer money spent ratio:

  • Nevada Geothermal Power Company: it received over $160 million in federal grants and loans. It created 14 jobs, or $11.4 million per job. Further, Nevada Geothermal’s auditor said that he has “significant doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.” So the question is are those 14 jobs permanent?
  • Cogentrix: the Colorado company received an $89 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It created less than six permanent jobs, or about $16.4 million per job.
  • NRG Solar: the New Jersey company received a $1.2 billion taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It created fifteen permanent jobs, or $80 million per job.
  • Record Hill Wind: the Maine company received a $102 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It created eight permanent jobs, or $12.8 million per job.
  • Kahuku Wind Power: the Hawaii company received a $117 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It created ten permanent jobs, or $11.7 million per job.

Regarding his management of taxpayer money:

  • Abound Solar: the Colorado company received a $400 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It just fired 70% of its workforce and has filed for bankruptcy protection.
  • SunPower: the California company received a $1.5 billion taxpayer-guaranteed loan from DOE. It is reorganizing, cutting jobs. And guess whee SunPower built a production plant – Mexicali, Mexico.
  • First Solar: the Arizona company received $1.46 billion from DOE. It just cut 2,000 jobs, including 70 in the US, closed a factory in Germany, and idled four production lines in Indonesia.
  • A123 Systems: the Massachusetts company received $279 million from DOE. It shipped some bad batteries and is barely operating, cutting jobs.
  • Ener1: the New York company received $118.5 million from DOE. It has filed for bankruptcy protection.
  • Solar Trust of America: the California company received a $2.1 billion loan guarantee from DOE. It has filed for bankruptcy protection.

And that doesn’t count the $578 million that bankrupt Solyndra and Beacon Power got from DOE.

Green energy is nice, but … can we taxpayers afford it?

Isn’t it humorous (because we must laugh to keep from crying) that when a little research is done, that when, as (the late) Paul Harvey used to say “the REST of the story” is told, a contrasting picture emerges?

But that’s just my opinion.

Obama 2012 Campaign Starts With A Real Whopper

We get a quite disingenuous/dishonest/outright lying 2012 campaign advertisement from President Barack Hussein Obama, the person who said his administration would have the most open and transparent administration in history. You know, the one that has no secrets.

Obama’s ad tells part of the truth, the part that favors him, just enough to fool Democrats and Obama Kool-Aid drinkers. In a campaign ad that is now running in Virginia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin, he claims that his policies have promoted clean energy jobs and reduced the nation’s dependence on foreign oil, while enduring secretive unfounded attacks from the energy industry. And he even has the nerve to promote his ethics record. And all of this in a 30 second ad.

You can, if you have a very strong physical constitution, watch the ad here.

Let’s examine what Obama claims in the ad, then look at what Paul Harvey used to call “the rest of the story.”

  • Claim: Secretive oil billionaires attacking President Obama — The Rest of the Story: The Oil & Gas industry in general, and the Koch brothers in particular, have been anything but secretive in their attacks on President Obama
  • Claim: Implication that President Obama has created 2.7 million “clean energy industry” jobs — The Rest of the Story: The number 2.7 million came from a Brookings Institute report. The ad cites the report from the Brookings Institute (see page 4 of the report). That report says, “The clean economy, which employs some 2.7 million workers, encompasses a significant number of jobs in establishments spread across a diverse group of industries… Most clean economy jobs reside in mature segments that cover a wide swath of activities including manufacturing and the provision of public services such as wastewater and mass transit. A smaller portion of the clean economy encompasses newer segments that respond to energy-related challenges. These include the solar photovoltaic (PV), wind, fuel cell, smart grid, biofuel, and battery industries.  &nbsp[all emphases mine]

The report says that the “clean economy establishments added half a million jobs between 2003 and 2010.” Obama was inaugurated in January, 2009, so his claim to any job created before he was inaugurated is a outright lie! Further, the report refers to “clean economy” jobs, not “clean energy” jobs. The great majority of the “clean economy” jobs are not in the “clean energy industry.” But as we have seen, Obama is quite adept at comparing apples and oranges.

Bottom line: Obama claims ANY job, regardless of its nature, to belong to the “clean energy industry,” and tries to claim that the “clean economy” and “clean industry” are the same thing!

  • Claim: Implication that Obama played a role in the increase in US domestic oil production — The Rest of the Story: Most domestic oil production growth was worked up, leased, drilled and plumbed-up for production over the last decade or more, long before he was inaugurated. His policies have actually done just the opposite – they have reduced production. Increases in production have come from two sources:
    • Fracking of shale in the Baaken field: despite the EPA’s efforts to stop fracking, the Baaken field continues to produce
    • Gulf of Mexico: deepwater discoveries in the gulf that have been brought on line over the last three years were discovered years before Obama was inaugurated

  • Claim: The US dependence on foreign oil is now below 50% — The Rest of the Story: While his claim may be true, the ad fails to explain why it is true: oil consumption is down because we remain in an economic recession/depression, something he promised to end if elected.

The ad says, “Independent watchdogs call this president’s record on ethics ‘unprecedented.'” The “unprecedented” line comes from a statement by a coalition of government watchdogs in 2009, just three months after Obama took office. It specifically referred to Obama’s promise to increase transparency and to end the “revolving door” of former lobbyists becoming presidential appointees. He kept neither promise.

The ad, filled with innuendos, assumptions, half-truths, and out-and-out lies, will play well with the dim-witted who will take President Barack Hussein Obama’s claims at face value, not bothering to do any kind of research and/or fact checking.

If this is his FIRST campaign ad, what can we expect as November approaches?

But that’s just my opinion.

'The Donald' Won't Rule Out Running against 'The One'

Billionaire Donald Trump is promoting his new book:

‘Time To Get Tough: Making America #1 Again’

(Great Title, btw)

In the book he reveals that he was/is so serious about challenging Barack Obama for the Presidency that he had the Financial Disclosure documents required to make that run prepared. He is worth an estimated $7 Billion which is much more than most people would have thought, Trump is routinely believed to have inflated his net worth in the past. $3 Billion of his net worth is the ‘Trump’ Brand itself.

Good for him, as a New Yorker would say, He’s done well for himself, I’m happy for him.

Now as to him running, presumably 3rd Party, and ensuring Barack Obama’s Re-Election…

I’ve long said that if Trump runs I will found, manage, spearhead and crush him with a Grass Roots Campaign that I will call:

4/11 Barbers for Truth

I’ve selected the color of 4/11 Barbers for Truth to approximate the odd color of Mr. Trumps variegated locks.

4/11 Barbers for Truth will, once and for all, get to the truth about Mr. Trump’s hairline(s).

  1. Where do they truly begin?
  2. How many of them are there?
  3. Has Melania ever seen him after a shower?
  4. How much of the Federal Budget will be dedicated to Hair Products?
  5. How has he managed to avoid the wind all these years?

I promise you that is only the beginning of the questions we will pursue as vigorously as he avoids windy, rainy days.

Personally, I think he’s just doing what ‘The Donald’ does best; Pimping the Trump Brand.

But it is possible that he thinks a Run for the White House would Burnish the Brand even more. If he runs he will find out that 4/11 Barbers for Truth will be more cutting on his reputation than he can imagine… Edward Scissorhands ain’t got nothin’ on us.

I implore Mr. Trump not to force our hand.
