Last Wednesday, patriotic Americans all over the country celebrated our 236th birthday, however, some on the left couldn’t help themselves, but to expose their ignorance about our nation’s founding. Chris Rock is at the epicenter of this debacle. He crudely tweeted “Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed fireworks.” Well, Mr. Rock, slavery is known as America’s original sin, but to criticize every caucasian in the country who had no part in enslaving Africans during the slave trade, is beyond absurd. Hence, why slave reparations legislation is asinine. I still don’t know why Chris Rock or other members of the Hollywood Left continue to bash the very foundation that has allowed them to prosper in this country. I don’t know why they keep on dwelling the imperfections of the men who founded our nation. Our Declaration of Independence based our nation’s founding on an inherent set of rights in an age where such entities were founded on the words monarchs or ethnic groups. It was revolutionary. Yes, slavery was unresolved, but that was not the issue at hand. However, that is not to say that the political class, throughout our history, has a bad habit of sweeping pressing issues under the rug. Regrettably, it took the collapse of our republic and 600,000 American lives to settle the issue. Yet, it was abolished forever and codified in our constitution.
However, before the outbreak of the Civil War, future president Abraham Lincoln’s July 10th speech during his 1858 Senate bid embraced the true meaning inherent in the Declaration of Independence that Chris Rock feels white people neglect stating:
Now, it happens that we meet together once every year, sometime about the 4th of July, for some reason or other. These 4th of July gatherings I suppose have their uses. If you will indulge me, I will state what I suppose to be some of them.
We are now a mighty nation, we are thirty—or about thirty millions of people, and we own and inhabit about one-fifteenth part of the dry land of the whole earth. We run our memory back over the pages of history for about eighty-two years and we discover that we were then a very small people in point of numbers, vastly inferior to what we are now, with a vastly less extent of country,—with vastly less of everything we deem desirable among men,—we look upon the change as exceedingly advantageous to us and to our posterity, and we fix upon something that happened away back, as in some way or other being connected with this rise of prosperity. We find a race of men living in that day whom we claim as our fathers and grandfathers; they were iron men, they fought for the principle that they were contending for; and we understood that by what they then did it has followed that the degree of prosperity that we now enjoy has come to us. We hold this annual celebration to remind ourselves of all the good done in this process of time of how it was done and who did it, and how we are historically connected with it; and we go from these meetings in better humor with ourselves—we feel more attached the one to the other, and more firmly bound to the country we inhabit. In every way we are better men in the age, and race, and country in which we live for these celebrations. But after we have done all this we have not yet reached the whole. There is something else connected with it. We have besides these men—descended by blood from our ancestors—among us perhaps half our people who are not descendants at all of these men, they are men who have come from Europe—German, Irish, French and Scandinavian—men that have come from Europe themselves, or whose ancestors have come hither and settled here, finding themselves our equals in all things. If they look back through this history to trace their connection with those days by blood, they find they have none, they cannot carry themselves back into that glorious epoch and make themselves feel that they are part of us, but when they look through that old Declaration of Independence they find that those old men say that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” and then they feel that that moral sentiment taught in that day evidences their relation to those men, that it is the father of all moral principle in them, and that they have a right to claim it as though they were blood of the blood, and flesh of the flesh of the men who wrote that Declaration [loud and long continued applause], and so they are. That is the electric cord in that Declaration that links the hearts of patriotic and liberty-loving men together, that will link those patriotic hearts as long as the love of freedom exists in the minds of men throughout the world. [Applause.]
Now, sirs, for the purpose of squaring things with this idea of “don’t care if slavery is voted up or voted down” [Douglas’s “popular sovereignty” position on the extension of slavery to the territories], for sustaining the Dred Scott decision [A voice—“Hit him again”], for holding that the Declaration of Independence did not mean anything at all, we have Judge Douglas giving his exposition of what the Declaration of Independence means, and we have him saying that the people of America are equal to the people of England. According to his construction, you Germans are not connected with it. Now I ask you in all soberness, if all these things, if indulged in, if ratified, if confirmed and endorsed, if taught to our children, and repeated to them, do not tend to rub out the sentiment of liberty in the country, and to transform this Government into a government of some other form. Those arguments that are made, that the inferior race are to be treated with as much allowance as they are capable of enjoying; that as much is to be done for them as their condition will allow. What are these arguments? They are the arguments that kings have made for enslaving the people in all ages of the world. You will find that all the arguments in favor of king-craft were of this class; they always bestrode the necks of the people, not that they wanted to do it, but because the people were better off for being ridden. That is their argument, and this argument of the Judge is the same old serpent that says you work and I eat, you toil and I will enjoy the fruits of it. Turn in whatever way you will—whether it come from the mouth of a King, an excuse for enslaving the people of his country, or from the mouth of men of one race as a reason for enslaving the men of another race, it is all the same old serpent, and I hold if that course of argumentation that is made for the purpose of convincing the public mind that we should not care about this, should be granted, it does not stop with the negro. I should like to know if taking this old Declaration of Independence, which declares that all men are equal upon principle and making exceptions to it where will it stop. If one man says it does not mean a negro, why not another say it does not mean some other man? If that declaration is not the truth, let us get the Statute book, in which we find it and tear it out! Who is so bold as to do it! [Voices—“me” “no one,” &c.] If it is not true let us tear it out! [cries of “no, no,”] let us stick to it then [cheers], let us stand firmly by it then. [Applause.]
This was part of a series of debates between Lincoln and incumbent Democrat Stephen Douglas, who supported popular sovereignty concerning slave issues and the notion that “this government of ours is founded on the white basis. It was made by the white man, for the benefit of the white man, to be administered by white men, in such manner as they should determine.” I feel Mr. Rock hasn’t read much, or frankly doesn’t care, about our history. The religious waves that spawned the abolition movement or the brave political leaders who felt the practice immoral and evil. However, labeling conservatives, patriots, or anything celebrating America as racist isn’t a new behavior exuded with the left.
This tactic was used to change the narrative when the health care debate was in full swing. Liberals tried to label the Tea Party acist back in 2009 and 2010. It centered on the now debunked event of the “N’-Word” being hurled at Rep. John Lewis that caught on with the dead tree media, who foams at the mouth over such frivolous accusations, and diluted the message away from the rampant spending and pending government takeover of health care that was occurring in Washington. It details a disturbing turn in American politics with the institutional left. It shows they are willing to engage and channel into the darkest parts of our nature. With the latest jobs report further demonstrating the failure of this president’s policies to revive the economy, the left has no where else to go. They can’t spin the facts so they turn to the one thing that is anathema to society. It’s vicious and wrong. Whoever is accused of racism on our side will be compelled to prove that he isn’t and pivot away from the single issue that will sink this president’s chances of re-election. It’s a winning strategy.
Hence why the left, especially Hollywood liberals, use racism to attack conservatives. The more time we spend defending ourselves or one another, the more we waste in attacking the left leading up to Election Day. While some conservatives continue to have conniptions over progressive jargon spewed over Twitter, keep in mind how the left benefits from you wasting your time combating such petulance. Luckily, we have the facts and Joe Williams, formerly of Politico, to thank in blunting future attacks since his Twitter feed showed a long campaign of race baiting that he described as the “secret sauce in the Politico s**tburger.” Regardless, they left is bound to use this tactic so many times it will lose it’s effect in the news cycle. After all, with an economy suffering from an unemployment rate of over eight percent for the past forty months, of which twenty-six of those months saw unemployment above nine percent, it’s going to be harder to deploy that tactic.
A review of the new movie “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter” from AlfonZo Rachel.
Can things really get any worse in our nation? Planned Parenthood, “the bastion of breast cancer screening”, is beginning their “National Condom Week” today, Wednesday February 15, 2012. How asinine can anyone get to have a national condom week and celebrate it with such ballyhoo? Is Mr. Condom a national hero or something? Congressional Medal of Honor winner, maybe? Inventor of some life-saving device that will revolutionize life in America and the world?
Martin Luther King only has one day, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have to share a day, and Condom gets an entire week to himself? What genius thought this up? Only a person with a heart as black as Satan’s could come up with a plan such as this to pervert our children and only people with hearts as black as Satan’s could stand by and let it happen without so much as a whimper of protest.
Sadly Mr. Condom is a perverted character created and honored by Planned Parenthood to destroy another generation of children. In the video, “Hooking Kids on Sex”, they have a section showing 10 year olds how to masturbate and how to install a condom for sexual intercourse. HELLOOOOOOO!!!! Is teaching them to read, write, and count too much trouble or are those just insignificant items the kids don’t need any more?
The real kicker to this is that my tax money, and your tax money, is paying for this trash. Is there anyone in Washington today with any brains or morals at all? Why is this going on? Where are Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul on this? Rick Santorum has stood up and spoken out against the Obama regime’s immoral despotism; and all he gets is grief from the propaganda arms of both political parties and his fellow “conservatives” in the presidential primary race and the so-called “conservative” media.
Where are John McCain and Lindsey Graham on “National Condom Week”? Are they still trying to figure out how they voted to remove the military restrictions against sodomy and bestiality in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011? Where are John Boehner and Mitch McConnell? As Sgt. Carter used to say to Gomer Pyle: “I can’t hear you!!!!!”
Where are the conservatives in Congress who seem to have lost their voices since Obama took over and became Dictator-in-Chief and President for Life of the National Socialist State of Amerika? How many adult men and women are in prison or on sexual predator lists for less offensive actions than this? Is this part of the Islamification of America? Islam hangs homosexuals but an adult man “teaching” a 10 year old boy about sex is just fine. Hypocrisy and perversion go hand-in-hand in the Muslim world. Is this the reason we are seeing this happen here, getting us ready?
The federal government is out of control and no one in Washington is doing anything to stop it. We hear little mouse squeaks from time to time but nothing really substantial, nothing to stand up and cheer about. An entire generation of Americans is being taught perversion and immorality without any opposition from anyone in Congress, the courts, or the media. Our elected “leaders” sit by quietly and allow this to go on because they are afraid of being called “racist” or “closed minded” or “intolerant”? Where are the leaders in government? (Hint: the Republicrats are hiding under their desks not wanting to be seen or heard on this).
The sad truth is that our government is staffed with evil, self-centered, narcissistic despots who are more interested in their own well-being than that of the citizens of this once great nation. As happened in Venezuela we are seeing a despot run over members of Congress who are either so evil that they are complicit or so cowardly evil they are afraid to speak up for fear of receiving criticism from the “enlightened” media.
Hell has come to America and we are seeing it in National Condom Week and the Komen foundation backing down from a moral stance to appease the most evil people in the world. Judgment is coming to America and we find our nation trying to “go along to get along” with the most evil, black hearted people to ever walk the face of this earth.
Adolph Hitler murdered 12 million innocent Jews, Christians, Gypsies, Slavs, Poles, Homosexuals, etc. during his reign of terror in Europe. How many innocent babies has Planned Parenthood murdered while Congress and multiple presidential administrations not only stood by and watched, but gladly paid for those murders? Now the goal is to expand into perverting and sexually abusing our children, and using We the People to pay for it.
Appeasing evil is never a winning proposition. We finally destroyed Adolph Hitler and his evil regime but only after Neville Chamberlain’s “peace in our time” brought the world to the brink of destruction and cost the lives of an estimated 100 million people.
Our federal government is a diseased animal that needs a dose of anti-biotic strong enough to kill the germs that infect it. We can no longer stand by and allow this to happen to our children. The most innocent of our nation are being sold into slavery, the slavery of perversion that they may never recover from.
If this is allowed to stand then I demand that every child molester and child rapist be immediately released from prison. How can men and women be held in prison for sex crimes while this is allowed to happen unfettered; and even condoned by our country’s elected “leaders” and paid for by tax money?
The worst element in all of this is the apathy of the American people. Who will bother to write to demand something be done? Who will call their member of Congress to insist they charge Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Kathleen Sebelius, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, et al. with genocide, taking indecent liberties with a minor, child sexual assault, and a host of other criminal charges?
Unless We the People stand up and take an active role of leadership in America we are going to very soon find ourselves living in the FEMA camps they built in 2009 under SB 645, and are staffing right now with money provided by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011. If American citizens; Christians, Jews, and even atheists and agnostics can’t see what is wrong with this then we are indeed a nation lost to Satan.
To show how much our nation suffers from apathy let me give you an example. I was running for a local school board position, a first-timer in a political race, and lost to the incumbent by a substantial margin. As disappointed as I am to have lost the race I am more disappointed in how I lost. There are in the neighborhood of 10,000 eligible voters in this school district. How many votes were cast? 368, or 3% of eligible voters. If I had won the election I would be only slightly happier. The depth of “I don’t care” from the voters of this nation is the most disappointing thing of all to me. Judgment will fall heavier on those who do nothing than it will on those who fight the battle. Even if those of us willing to fight the battle lose the battle, we will still have stood up for what Jesus called “the least of my flock”.
As our nation teeters on the edge of oblivion only a small percentage of those who can vote will vote. Many of those casting ballots in November will be either corpses or fictional cartoon characters. Such a sad commentary for a nation forged in the blood of those who were willing to die for even a glimpse of a chance to vote for their future.
A “shining city on a hill” has become a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, ripe for the judgment of God and subjugation by an evil so dark it makes a black hole in space look like the sun.
Copies of this are going to the entire Oklahoma Congressional delegation. I hope you will do the same in your state. Stand up now, tomorrow will be too late.
I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.
February 15, 2012
WASHINGTON, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), said today the fact that prayer and Scripture were key ingredients in the 9/11 remembrance at Ground Zero shows how wrong Mayor Michael Bloomberg was in refusing to reverse a ban prohibiting religious leaders and prayer from being part of the official ceremony.
“Despite the Mayor’s ban, prayer permeated the solemn and sacred remembrance at Ground Zero,” saidJay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. “We heard from nearly 40,000 Americans who supported prayer at this event. And, in the end, even with the ban in place, President Obama, former President Bush, and former New York City Mayor Giuliani – understood the importance of including prayer in their remarks – prayer for those who are still suffering from the nation’s worst terrorist attack – prayer for our nation. In spite of the Mayor’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge the importance of including prayer, the fact is that prayer and Scripture played an integral part of this memorial event and for that we are grateful.”
The ACLJ sent Mayor Bloomberg a letter signed by nearly 40,000 Americans declaring their support for prayer at the event and urging him to rescind his ban.
In his remarks at Ground Zero, President Obama read Psalm 46, which begins with, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
Former President George W. Bush read from a letter written by Abraham Lincoln in 1864 to a mother who lost five sons during the Civil War. Lincoln ended the letter saying, “I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.”
And former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani read from Ecclesiastes. As Giuliani put it: “The perspective that we need, and have needed, to get through the last 10 years, and the years that remain, are best expressed by the words of God as inscribed in the book of Ecclesiastes.”
Things are most definitely heating up in the 2012 race for the White House. The first “official” event of the election just took place with the Iowa Straw Poll. This event is typically what kicks off the real race, though strangely enough, rarely is the winner of the Iowa Straw Poll chosen as the nominee.
The atmosphere of the race is a myriad of conflicting views, strategies and ideas, which is typical of political campaigns who oppose each other.
The attitude of the people who support particular candidates adds to the conflicting atmosphere.
One thing that the Democrats have learned and do very well is patience. That is, up until now. It has taken approximately 100 years, give or take a few years, to bring us to the point we are at. It is debated as to when the actual start of the progressive movement started, but the approximate time is the beginning of the 20th Century.
Slowly, over time, the progressives have inched their way in our lives more and more, imposing their views, making them law, and taking away our freedoms more and more every year.
We have now reached a point in history where our freedoms are being taken more and more every single day, rather than every single year. Their patience has run out.
We now have the most progressive President in the White House that America has ever been “led” by. I use this term loosely, because even his own supporters question his ability to actually lead. While they most definitely do not agree with the Conservative side of the argument, they are now questioning the quality of his tenure.
Unless some major upheaval goes on in the Democratic Party, Barack Obama WILL be the nominee for the Democratic Party in the 2012 election. It is very unlikely that someone will seriously challenge him. While there are many who voted for him in the 2008 election, there are many who have said they made a mistake and will not make that mistake again.
That brings us to the die-hard Democrats. There are those who will vote for him just because they refuse to cross party lines. They will vote for Barack Obama again, knowing his failure to lead this country during his fist term, and where that has led us, because they refuse to vote for a “Republican”.
On the opposite side of the aisle, we have Conservatives. If you notice, I did not say we have “Republicans”.
Over the years, the Republican Party has left the Conservatives. We have more RINO’s in office, and voters as well, that do not hold the same values as Conservatives. Within the Conservative population, there are many varying degrees of Conservatism. This is the true issue we face as Conservatives.
A very wise man often tells me that in politics, you must sometimes give up something you want to get something else that is more important to you. Quite honestly, this presents a problem for me, as I am a firm believer that if you compromise your beliefs you have compromised your soul. I have argued quite fiercely that I just cannot do that- I’ve learned the hard way, in my younger years, the cost of compromising your beliefs. It can cost you dearly! I know from personal experience.
The issues we are facing now have not happened overnight. It has been a slow progression of time (hence the name, progressive) and actions from the progressive, liberal side of the aisle that has brought us face to face with a country I no longer recognize.
If Conservatives (myself included), are not careful, we are going to refuse to compromise, and in the process, we will be cutting off our noses in spite of our face. Invariably, there are going to be people who will not support whoever becomes the nominee for the Republican Party.
In the last election, I almost fell into this trap myself. I did not like McCain, and had decided that I was not going to vote in the election. I am absolutely sick and tired of having to choose the lesser of two evils!
The very wise man who I mentioned in the beginning of this article was none too happy with me! In fact, there were times things bordered on boiling over into an all-out argument, rather than discussion. Thankfully, in the end, Sarah Palin came on the scene and became McCain’s running mate. While she is not perfect, as I have previously said, she is someone I could vote for without feeling dirty afterwards. (I continue to stress that there will never be a perfect candidate! There will ALWAYS be something we do not agree with about a particular person- candidate or in any other situation.)
In this election, I am much more informed. While I am still very new to the political world, I refuse to be an ostrich with my head in the sand. I also realize that I very well may have to vote for someone I do not agree with or like, just as was the case with John McCain. I pray that this is not what happens, but it is quite possible. All I can hope for is a running mate that I can at least tolerate.
The danger I see happening is that things in the political realm are reaching a boiling point. People are angry! They no longer want to have to compromise on their beliefs and values. I understand this, and absolutely agree!
The problem is that for so long, the moral Conservatives sat silent. I include myself in this group, but it started many decades before I was even born. Somewhere along the way, Christians, Conservatives, the moral population began to blend into the background. Churches allowed themselves to be silenced, and in the process, individuals within the churches decided not to get involved in the political process any longer.
Over the years, while the Conservatives did not like what was going on in our government, they did not stand up and demand that things were changed. Now we have reached the point of no return. If we do not stand up and make our voices heard, we are going to lose every freedom that we are so very blessed with.
Abraham Lincoln recognized this when he said:
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
We are almost at that point.
As I said above, we did not reach this point overnight. It has taken more than 100 years- an entire century- to bring us to the boiling point. Yet, so many of us (yes, myself included) want to change things overnight. There is great danger in this desire.
While it goes against everything in me, I very well may have to compromise. I may have to vote for someone that does not appeal to me in the least. I still have a choice not to vote, so I can say I stood solidly on my principles and refused to vote for a RINO. But just as with every choice we make in life, there is going to be a consequence.
Conservatives- ALL OF US– have to make a decision. Are we going to refuse to compromise, and either refuse to vote, or vote for a third party candidate no matter what?
This is where wisdom comes in. Wisdom does not come from any other source but God Almighty.
He who leans on, trusts in, and is confident of his own mind and heart is a [self-confident] fool, but he who walks in skillful and godly Wisdom shall be delivered. Proverbs 28: 26
Book knowledge does not equate wisdom.
We, as Conservatives- whether we classify ourselves as Republican, Independent, Tea Party, Libretarian, Socially Conservative, Fiscally Conservative, RINO (though I highly doubt someone would identify themselves a RINO willingly), or any other name that falls into the large gambit of labels on the right side of the aisle, have to realize that we will not be able to change things overnight. It is going to be a slow process. If the progressives waited more than 100 years to reach their goal, we can not realistically expect to go back to a principled, moral and completely free nation in one election.
Yes, this is the beginning! Yes, we want to take our country back! We make this the beginning of that process. We hold our elected leaders accountable for their actions! If they do not listen to us, we vote them out! We teach our kids to stand up and let their voice be heard, to make wise choices rather than voting (and doing) for the “popular”. We teach ourselves and our children to question EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE! Thomas Jefferson said it best:
Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.
It is going to be a slow process. Will it take 100 years? I cannot answer that. Will things turn violent during the process? I hope and pray it never comes to that, but there is a great possibility that it will. First and foremost, we must learn to not trust in ourselves, the book knowledge we have gained, but to instead,
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; – Proverbs 5:3
This does not mean to sit idly by and just let the chips fall where they may, because “God is in control.” Yes, absolutely I KNOW God is in control, but He requires us to be involved, stand up for what is right, and make wise choices. Each of us are here for a reason. Each of our lives have purpose. We must determine within ourselves to stand up with strong resolve, with patience, diligently making wise choices with every election- local, state and national.
As the 2012 election draws closer, each and every day this is my prayer:
Give me understanding, that I may keep Your law; yes, I will observe it with my whole heart. Psalm 119:34
Without a doubt this is familiar to everyone of us, young and old alike:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all.
I pledge of Allegiance to the flag of
the United States of America and to the Republic
for which it stands, one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and Justice for all.
On any given day, these days, it is nothing to read about yet another school that is “banning” the Pledge of Allegiance; a Home Owners Association (HOA) prohibiting the American Flag to be flown; or someone, somewhere, offended by our beautiful Stars and Stripes.
Although I am sure we are all very familiar with the pledge, I wonder how many people actually know what they are saying when they recite it.
This article will outline exactly what our Founding Fathers planned for the future of this great nation and exactly what the Pledge of Allegiance means to each of us.
Let’s break this down, so we can better understand what our government actually is. We will go line by line- often, word by word.
“I”- This infers ownership. A person speaking is “inferring to himself or herself” when they say “I”. It is personal.
“Pledge”- “A solemn promise or agreement to do or refrain from doing something.” The person speaking is promising or agreeing to what they are saying.
“Allegiance”– Loyalty, dedication, devotion, fidelity, honor, obedience, homage
“to”- A preposition used to express motion or direction toward a noun (person, place or thing), rather than motion or direction away from a noun (person, place or thing.)
“the flag”- A piece of cloth that can be an shape, size combination of colors and design that is customarily attached on one edge to a pole or cord. Common uses of a flag is to represent a nation, state, or organization.
“the United States of America”- An area of land which is governed as a federal republic that is mainly in North America. Fifty (50) individual states and the District of Columbia have come together as one. The nation was colonized primarily by the English and French in the 17th century. During this time, the native Indians were gradually defeated and displaced. Under the British rule there were 13 colonies that declared their independence from Britain in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the colonies. After the War of Independence the nation officially became The United States of America. During the Civil War (1861-1865) the northern states defeated the South. The United States of America is the world’s most productive industrial nation, and exports agricultural products as well. The land consists of the Rocky Mountains in the west, the Great Plains in the center, the Appalachian Mountains in the east, deserts in the southwest, and coastal lowlands and swamps in the southeast. English is the predominant language spoken; Christianity is the largest religion base; the dollar is the currency. The Capital of the nation is Washington, D.C.
“and”– in addition
“to”– A preposition used to express motion or direction toward a noun (person, place or thing), rather than motion or direction away from a noun (person, place or thing.)
“the Republic”- A form of government in which the powers of sovereignty are authorized and entrusted in the people and are executed by the people, either directly, or through representatives chosen by the people, to whom those powers are specially appointed.
“for which it stands”– the position or opinion of someone
“One”– Single, alone, only, solitary
“Nation”– A country with its own government
“Under”– Covered by
“God”– King of kings, Lord of lords, Adonai, Divine Creator, Holy Father
“Indivisible”– Impenetrable, inseparable, joined, permanent, unbreakable, unified indissoluble
“with”– Accompanying, including
“liberty”– Freedom, independence,
“and”– In addition to
“justice”– Lawfulness, fairness, honesty, integrity
“for”– As long as [it’s]
“all”– Entire, total, complete
In breaking things down as we have, it makes perfect sense why there are many who refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. To these people I say- find another country!
Our Founding Fathers knew exactly what they were doing! They knew that it would be all too easy to become complacent with the nation we have.
Abraham Lincoln said it best:
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Sadly, we are seeing this very thing come true. If you do not PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE to this great nation, and do everything in your power to fight to protect and keep the freedoms we have been so blessed with, you are part of the destruction.
The Tea Party is getting larger and stronger all the time. It is now a force to be reckoned with in Congress, in state legislatures across the fruited plain, and in the daily news cycle. Yet it lacks one thing. One thing that if present would take it from a force to be reckoned with to an irresistible force. What the Tea Party lacks is the one thing the Founding Fathers had in abundance. And what is that? Statesmen. People like Samuel Adams and Patrick Henry were integral to the American Revolution and the establishment of the Constitution. The Tea Party lacks the latter-day equivalents of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and James Madison. Politicians the Tea Party has aplenty. Statesmen, though, are sorely lacking.
Using the Tea Parties analogy to the American Founding, I think you can fairly compare people like Palin and Bachmann to Henry and Sam Adams. That isn’t enough though. We need people like Paul Ryan, and yes, Chris Christie (even if I am not completely sold on him). People who are sensible and pragmatic and educated and experienced. If we want real change, I think the founding of our country is a good model to look at. Hopefully, we can avoid a physical revolution. I believe the founders died so we wouldn’t have to go there. But they do provide a good model for getting things back on the right track. We should look at the whole model. If things had ended in Boston Harbor, we would still be a protectorate of the United Kingdom right now. That isn’t good enough. – ALRMCoug
In response to ALARMCoug’s blog post, HighHorse came back with this bit of analysis concerning the Tea Party:
There is no Samuel Adams on the scene in America today. The centrist Republican establishment sees to it that a modern day Samuel Adams or Thomas Jefferson will not get anywhere in America.
Your example is interesting because Samuel Adams, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were known radicals even in that day. The Tea Party of today is radical as were those guys mentioned. We can expect a watered down version that will never create real change in our country. Moderates will see to it that the true radicals never have representation.
It isn’t just bloggers that recognize the need for leaders of our nation who possess the qualities found in such abundance among those who brought forth the United States of America. Academics see it as well:
The raising up of that constellation of “wise” Founding Fathers to produce America’s remarkable Constitution, whose rights and protection belong to “every man,” was not a random thing…. One historian called our Founding Fathers “the most remarkable generation of public men in the history of the United States or perhaps of any other nation” (Arthur M. Schlesinger, The Birth of the Nation , 245). Another historian added, “It would be invaluable if we could know what produced this burst of talent from a base of only two and a half million inhabitants” (Barbara W. Tuchman, The March of Folly: From Troy to Vietnam , 18). – Neal A. Maxwell
Furthermore, the Founding Fathers recognized for themselves the remarkable nature of the founding of this nation. Describing the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. In a 1788 letter to Lafayette, he said:
“It appears to me, then, little short of a miracle, that the delegates from so many different states (which states you know are also different from each other in their manners, circumstances, and prejudices) should unite in forming a system of national Government, so little liable to well-founded objections.” 3
It was a miracle. Consider the setting.
The thirteen colonies and three and one-half million Americans who had won independence from the British crown a few years earlier were badly divided on many fundamental issues. Some thought the colonies should reaffiliate with the British crown. Among the majority who favored continued independence, the most divisive issue was whether the United States should have a strong central government to replace the weak “league of friendship” established by the Articles of Confederation. Under the Confederation of 1781, there was no executive or judicial authority, and the national Congress had no power to tax or to regulate commerce. The thirteen states retained all their sovereignty, and the national government could do nothing without their approval. The Articles of Confederation could not be amended without the unanimous approval of all the states, and every effort to strengthen this loose confederation had failed.
Congress could not even protect itself. In July 1783, an armed mob of former Revolutionary War soldiers seeking back wages threatened to take Congress hostage at its meeting in Philadelphia. When Pennsylvania declined to provide militia to protect them, the congressmen fled. Thereafter Congress was a laughingstock, wandering from city to city.
Unless America could adopt a central government with sufficient authority to function as a nation, the thirteen states would remain a group of insignificant, feuding little nations united by nothing more than geography and forever vulnerable to the impositions of aggressive foreign powers. No wonder the first purpose stated in the preamble of the new United States Constitution was “to form a more perfect union.”
The Constitution had its origin in a resolution by which the relatively powerless Congress called delegates to a convention to discuss amendments to the Articles of Confederation. This convention was promoted by James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, two farsighted young statesmen still in their thirties, who favored a strong national government. They persuaded a reluctant George Washington to attend and then used his influence in a letter-writing campaign to encourage participation by all the states. The convention was held in Philadelphia, whose population of a little over 40,000 made it the largest city in the thirteen states.
As the delegates assembled, there were ominous signs of disunity. It was not until eleven days after the scheduled beginning of the convention that enough states were represented to form a quorum. New Hampshire’s delegation arrived more than two months late because the state had not provided them travel money. No delegates ever came from Rhode Island.
Economically and politically, the country was alarmingly weak. The states were in a paralyzing depression. Everyone was in debt. The national treasury was empty. Inflation was rampant. The various currencies were nearly worthless. The trade deficit was staggering. Rebelling against their inclusion in New York State, prominent citizens of Vermont had already entered into negotiations to rejoin the British crown. In the western territory, Kentucky leaders were speaking openly about turning from the union and forming alliances with the Old World.
Instead of reacting timidly because of disunity and weakness, the delegates boldly ignored the terms of their invitation to amend the Articles of Confederation and instead set out to write an entirely new constitution. They were conscious of their place in history. For millennia the world’s people had been ruled by kings or tyrants. Now a group of colonies had won independence from a king and their representatives had the unique opportunity of establishing a constitutional government Abraham Lincoln would later describe as “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
The delegates faced staggering obstacles. The leaders in the thirteen states were deeply divided on the extent to which the states would cede any power to a national government. If there was to be a strong central government, there were seemingly irresolvable differences on how to allocate the ingredients of national power between large and small states. As to the nature of the national executive, some wanted to copy the British parliamentary system. At least one delegate even favored the adoption of a monarchy. Divisions over slavery could well have prevented any agreement on other issues. There were 600,000 black slaves in the thirteen states, and slavery was essential in the view of some delegates and repulsive to many others.
Deeming secrecy essential to the success of their venture, the delegates spent over three months in secret sessions, faithfully observing their agreement that no one would speak outside the meeting room on the progress of their work. They were fearful that if their debates were reported to the people before the entire document was ready for submission, the opposition would unite to kill the effort before it was born. This type of proceeding would obviously be impossible today. There is irony in the fact that a constitution which protects the people’s “right to know” was written under a set of ground rules that its present beneficiaries would not tolerate.
It took the delegates seven weeks of debate to resolve the question of how the large and small states would be represented in the national congress. The Great Compromise provided a senate with equal representation for each state, and a lower house in which representation was apportioned according to the whole population of free persons in the state, plus three-fifths of the slaves. The vote on this pivotal issue was five states in favor and four against; other states did not vote, either because no delegates were present or because their delegation was divided. Upon that fragile base, the delegates went forward to consider other issues, including the nature of the executive and judicial branches, and whether the document should include a bill of rights.
It is remarkable that the delegates were able to put aside their narrow sectional loyalties to agree on a strong central government. Timely events were persuasive of the need: the delegates’ memories of the national humiliation when Congress was chased out of Philadelphia by a mob, the recent challenge of Shay’s rebellion against Massachusetts farm foreclosures, and the frightening prospect that northern and western areas would be drawn back into the orbit of European power.
The success of the convention was attributable in large part to the remarkable intelligence, wisdom, and unselfishness of the delegates. As James Madison wrote in the preface to his notes on the Constitutional Convention:
“There never was an assembly of men, charged with a great and arduous trust, who were more pure in their motives, or more exclusively or anxiously devoted to the object committed to them.” – Dallin H. Oaks
The Tea Party has its heroes to be sure:
- Chris Christie is a fiscal genius who is reclaiming the State of New Jersey from the leftist teachers union in that state.
- Governor Scott Walker made history as he disemboweled the public employee unions in Wisconsin.
- Justice David Prosser of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court beat back a socialist candidate in dramatic fashion.
- Sarah Palin is a continual thorn in Barack Obama’s side with her instantly classic Facebook posts.
- Rush Limbaugh bedevils the progressives so much that he is their inspiration to attempt to take away our Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press.
- Paul Ryan’s deficit reduction bill is so powerful that the socialists are compelled to lie about it in order to try to convince independent voters that it is evil. And we all know that the independents are the block of voters who decide elections in this country.
- Donald Trump has revived the argument about Obama’s missing birth certificate. Stay tuned, this issue isn’t over yet!
- Michele Bachmann is such a powerful conservative voice that she has a real shot at the Republican nomination for president in 2012.
But still, the Tea Party is missing its statesmen. We are talking about leaders of the stature of Winston Churchill, Mohandas Karamchand Ghandi, Benjamin Disraeli, and yes, Benjamin Franklin. Where are the leaders for our time? Surely we can do better than the RINO Jon Huntsman. Do we really think that Tim Pawlenty is in the same league as James Madison? Does the thought of Mitt Romney as president inspire comparisons to John Adams? Barack Obama Lite is not what this country needs. Obama is not less-filling and he sure doesn’t taste great, either.
The Tea Party needs leaders of unabashed conservatism. The Tea Party needs leaders with the courage of their convictions. The Tea Party needs leaders who respect the Constitution and who are willing to fight in defense of that inspired document of freedom. The Tea Party seeks God-fearing leaders who recognize that the State is subservient to Him who land this is. The Tea Party needs a charismatic, humble, yet strong leader who exudes confidence in the defense of liberty. The Tea Party needs the second coming of the Founding Fathers.
If Obama is to be defeated in the 2012 elections then the Tea Party must produce a leader who can rally the conservative troops. A divided conservative base will lose the election. An energized conservative base will sweep Obama into the ash heap of history. Let us pray we find our statesman before it is too late.
Our Obama, who art on vacation, Hollowed be thy head.
Your limo come, vacation’s done,
in Chicago as it is in Hawaii.
Give us this day our daily cheese,
and forgive us our conservatism,
as we forgive those commie, pinko, progressive, tree-hugging environmentalist wacko Van Jones clones who trespass against us.
And lead us not into solvency,
but deliver us from living within our means.
For thine is the Federal Reserve, and the student loans,
and the Obama stash, forever and ever – at least until the worm turns.
The stupidity of Barack Hussein Obama’s supposedly intellectual political arguments goes beyond the pale. No, take that back! Obama didn’t say a thing. TOTUS did all the talking. Obama’s overhyped speech today, Wednesday, April 13th, didn’t deviate one whit from his commie track record. In fact it didn’t even start on time. He was late as usual…word has it that he was on the toilet. Presidentin’ makes you want to “go” don’t cha know. And then rumor has it that while walking to the speech he allegedly stopped along the way to squeeze the fruit – regrettably, Barney Frank couldn’t be reached for comment. Another possible reason given for the lateness of Obama’s arrival at the podium was the suggestion that the Obamas were held up reenacting that scene from the Geico commercial featuring Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln. So Michelle supposedly told Barack to get her something good for her birthday and gives him some hints like “I want something shiny, which goes from zero to 200 in five seconds.” So Barack gets her a scale! But anyway, we digress – Time to get back on track with the weightier matter of the stupidity of Obama’s political speechifying arguments.
He’s a moron when it comes to economics, commerce, business, and finance. Stealing the message of conservatism from the true conservatives, Obama magnanimously called on both Democrats and Republicans to balance the budget and work toward paying down the debt of the federal government. But then his inner communist took over and he decided that the way to accomplish the feat would be to put an end to the Bush-era tax cuts for those making more than $250,000 a year. Somehow, Obama is convinced that penalizing the productive will somehow translate into exalting the nonproductive elements of society. In other news apples and oranges have been deemed to be identical. “The only concrete proposal that he proposed was raising taxes,” said Eric Cantor, a member of the House GOP leadership. “That solution falls far short of dealing with the kind of crises that we’re facing,” said Cantor.
A blogger known only as Freddie Cougar said it best: “Raising taxes = ‘reducing tax expenditures,’ addressing ‘spending reductions in the tax code,’ ‘spending in the tax code,’ and ‘spending reductions in the tax code.’ Doublespeak at its finest.” It was a friggin’ campaign speech. Government has been the source of our prosperity? Good grief, it was another revisionist history lesson from our commie president. According to Obama tax cuts are the problem. “It’s all the Bush’s fault” – signed Moses. Poor Dubya, the Evil Genius. Obama is good at only one thing. He is an exceptional liar. Obama is a crybaby. Obama is a wimp. Obama is a whiner. Obama blames everyone but himself. Obama sucks. His entire talk could have been summed up thusly: “When I took office…it’s not my fault!”
Behold the Lying King! We’ve all heard the old joke that goes something like this: “What is the difference between the Lion King and Barack Obama? The Lion King is an African Lion. Obama is a Lying African.” Liberals inevitably call the joke racist. They don’t get the fact that liars can come from any continent. It’s just the plain fact, Jack that this one’s roots are from Kenya. Last we heard, after that stupefying speech, is that the village doesn’t want its idiot back. Good for the village! Perhaps the HildaBeast can spare a dime.
In a poor zoo of Africa, a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more than 1 kilogram of meat a day.
The lion thought its prayers were answered when one day a Honolulu Zoo manager visited the zoo and requested the zoo management to shift the lion to the Honolulu Zoo.
The lion was so happy and started thinking of a central A/C environment and a goat or two every day.
On its first day after arrival, the lion was offered a big bag, sealed nicely for breakfast. The lion opened it quickly but was shocked to see that it contained nothing but a few bottles of KGBean dip. The lion thought that maybe they cared too much for him as they were worried about his stomach as he had recently shifted locations.
The next day the same thing happened. On the third day again the same food bag of KGBean dip was delivered. The lion was so furious; it stopped the delivery boy and blasted him, “don’t you know I am the lion…King of the Jungle? What’s wrong with your management? What nonsense is this? Why are you delivering KGBean dip to me?”
The delivery boy politely said, “Sir, I know you are the King of the Jungle … but… you have been brought here on Frank Marshall Davis’ visa!”
Now we know that Obama’s speech was timed so as to not go up against Dancing With The Stars. We don’t know why; but considering the way Obama tap-danced around Libya and the economy, he might have won. Some people are saying Obama was a little bit testy during the speech. Hmmm… it looks like somebody’s March Madness bracket pick didn’t do so well. You know, ever since the CEO of G.E. became his advisor, everything Obama says sounds like a light bulb commercial. Walk to the light, little people! Walk to the light!
It was recently reported in the news that Obama had been accidentally locked out of the White House. For that one panicked moment Obama thought that they must have found his real birth certificate. At least the locked door to the White House gave Obama an alibi. “I didn’t do it. It was broken when I got here.” – Barack “Bart Simpson” Obama.
America has taken up the drinking game to pass the time during Obama’s speeches. Drone. Drone. Drone. Drone. Drink. Of course the game gets a little mixed up when it comes to the Obamartini – made with Absolut Zero.
And then there was Barry’s Audacity of Hype. Did he really say “My finely honed political instincts”? Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I can’t breathe! First off, Barack, you are a politician. Second, all of our taxes are spent on the entitlements. Everything else is funded by loans. Barack, you are a fiscal imbecile. “Gubmint cheese is the best cheese there is. And it is free. Free for you and free for me,” – the essence of Obama’s talk about his stash and entitlements. “I’ll take Manchurian Candidate for $500, Alex.” Ahhh, Komrades. It is boootiful day in USSA. Did he say corpseman? This dumbass couldn’t even pass a middle school speech class. By Friday afternoon he will backpedal on everything he said by making what he said “perfectly clear”. Got it? For the Obamassiah, there is no issue he cannot straddle. Oh fer cryin’ out loud. Did he just denounce his own 2012 budget? Is he mentally challenged? Does he not recall what he threw out in January? Obama is nothing but a Puppet of Meat. Yo, Meat Puppet! Nobody’s clapping so quit waiting for the applause. It ain’t coming your way.
Is there any doubt about his Marxism? Like was said up front, Obama’s stupidity goes beyond the pale. What level of Hell has the United States of America sunk to when Obama’s sophist rhetoric is actually taken seriously? Isn’t America starting to feel a bit bloated from all the smoke being blown up its collective arse? Furthermore, what the Hell is a Kwag-mahr? Is Kwag-marh a city in Pohkeesstohn?
Four trillion in cuts over 12 years…backed by his “fail-safe” guaranty. Wimpy: “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” LOL, when has congress ever followed up on a guarantee? Lock box anyone? America is going to have to practice bending over a LOT more… Can this get any worse? Of course it can! Darn it, Mr. President, would you at least treat us to dinner and a movie first?
Obama’s pandering for the senior vote is getting old. Note to Obama: You have lost the senior vote and you will not get it back. You stupid meat puppet teleprompter reading political hack. We all find you taxing, which explains this:
The Tax System – Explained With Beer
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
- The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
- The fifth would pay $1.
- The sixth would pay $3.
- The seventh would pay $7.
- The eighth would pay $12.
- The ninth would pay $18.
- The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
‘Since you are all such good customers,’ he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.’
‘Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.’
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
- The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
- The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings) .
- The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings) .
- The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 ( 25% savings).
- The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).
- The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
‘I only got a dollar out of the $20,’ declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, ‘but he got $10!’
‘Yeah, that’s right,’ exclaimed the fifth man. ‘I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!’
‘That’s true!!’ shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’
‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
So Barry, what are we cutting in order to balance the budget? Oh, I see, you’re cutting employment and taxing the rich. Great plan!!! Okay, JackWagon, WHAT DO WE CUT? – Besides Defense? Typical Obama speech, lots of hype and no substance. I thought Pakistan said no more drones. Obama never ceases to amaze. He is laying on the lies and class warfare like there’s no tomorrow. Logic isn’t his strong suit. Come to think of it…nothing is his strong suit…unless flies on the lip count for something. America felt like it was watching tennis during Obama’s speech. Left – right, left – right. Teleprompter 1, teleprompter 2.
Obama could have stood on the podium and picked his nose for 30 minutes. The Main Stream Media would have still declared the speech a victory, and that was that. Obama throws out accusations at conservatives but offers no plan of his own. He avoids specifics like the plague. You can just envision Obama saying something like this: “I will give every American everything they want and it won’t cost a cent. I’m leaving it to Congress to figure out how to make that happen.”
The jackwagoniest of jackwagons; what a miserable, pathetic president we have. Expectations for today’s speech were low, but he still managed to hook an ankle on the bar he could have easily stepped over.
The highlight of the speech was Rip Van Biden’s reaction to it – which was a big effing deal! Joe slept though it!
See the photo for proof. Old Joe has heard the commie spiel so many times that he can doze off through an entire progressive speech and not miss a thing. No big deal, Joe. The rest of the country was going comatose, too. All you missed, Joe, was Obama saying “My vision for America is one where we live within our means, blinded by my socialistic government ideology.” Got it, Joe? Good! Now, remember, Joe, that for the rest of us our vision for America is to wipe away all you FDR/Johnson/LBJ/progressing/Obama stains from our Republic. All we know is that Obama’s plan is heavy on the “fail” and light on the “safe.” Obama says he wants America to live within its means? Okay! – Then no more flying in a favorite chef from Chicago to make pizza at the White House. No more ridiculously expensive vacations on the public’s dime! No more lobster deliveries for Michelle. No more flying Obama’s dog Bo around on his own private jet. Man, I dunno. I mean, it’s probably pretty hard subsisting on a $15T budget. Perhaps Obama meant everybody but the government has to live within their means. There, that’s better! Be thankful for small gifts, America – at least he’s not using the stupid Slurpee story anymore.
That’s an F+ for effort, Barry, and a G- for substance. “My vision for America is one where we live within our means.” No it’s not, Barry. LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! LIAR!
Gene Roddenberry was a prophet. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Landreu, the automated president….programmed to respond. Click, whir, Dolby Sound enabled. Here’s Barry at his best:
“Let me be clear, as I’ve always said the time for change is now and we are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Thank you and goodnight.” – Barack Hussein Obama
My life was turned upside-down on the morning of February 12, 2011. The previous evening my wife and I went through a city that is blessed with the presence of a Der Weinerschnitzel. I have worshipped many times at the altar of this wonderful hotdog emporium featuring my all-time favorite chili cheese dogs and Polish sandwiches. I partook of both of these gastronomical delights along with a root beer and fries. The combo is one of the food industry’s greatest inventions. Life was good.
The next morning, February 12th, a day which will live in infamy in my home, I got a telephone call from the nurse at Dr. Sneezenblow’s office. She told me that Dr. Sneezenblow needed to meet with me immediately to discuss the results of my recent blood tests. Ten minutes later I was in his office with visions of Prostate Cancer swimming through my head. I knew a whole battery of blood tests had been ordered as a part of my annual physical but the only one I could remember was the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test – the test that would indicate the presence of Prostate Cancer. I was terrified.
I wasn’t left in suspense for long. The good news was that I didn’t have Prostate Cancer. The bad news was that I had Type 2 Diabetes. My first thought, after recovering from the shock of Dr. Sneezenblow’s announcement, was that chili cheese dogs and Polish sandwiches were things of the past. I was in mourning. The nurse interrupted my sorrow by pricking my finger with a lancet and then testing the blood sugar level in my heretofore hotdog infused carcass. Just to give you some perspective – 70 to 130 is considered to be normal. Anything over 200 is considered to place a person in the diabetic range. I registered in at a cool 494. The blood testing meter maxed out at 500. I almost blew the lid off that little electronic wonder! At that point I knew root beer and fries were also gone from my gastronomical routine. Life was definitely not good!
Now you might think that this article is all about some guy (that would be me) moaning about being victimized by his defective pancreas gland. Nope! I refuse to play the role of the victim. Catch the Eagles’ song about victimhood right here. It is a wonderful expose of the entire liberal woe-is-me victimhood mindset. Instead, this article is a celebration of the wonders of American capitalism, the free-market, and Yankee innovation that is the wonder of the world.
The good doctor laid down the law concerning my diet from that point forward. I immediately resigned myself to an endless round of green beans and water chestnuts. Then I got on the Internet and, armed with my new dietary restrictions, began researching how to cope with eating in the world of Type 2 Diabetes. It didn’t take long to discover that private enterprise, long derided by Obama and his ilk, has developed some amazing foods, devices, and technologies to allow their customers to successfully deal with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. The rest of this article is about some of these companies and the innovative ways they have addressed market needs within the free enterprise.
Dreamfields Foods is a manufacturer of pasta. Normally, diabetics would be expected to eliminate all forms of pasta from their diets. Traditional pastas score a 38 on the Glycemic Index. Traditional pastas also contain 41 grams of carbohydrates per serving. Any diabetic can tell you that watching and regulating carbohydrates is just as important, if not more so, than watching calories, sugar, or fats. But Dreamfields Foods, through a shining example of Yankee ingenuity, has created pasta that boasts an incredible score of only 13 on the Glycemic Index. And yes, their pasta still contains 41 grams of carbohydrates per serving, but only 5 grams of those carbohydrates get digested! The rest passes harmlessly through the body. Carbohydrates are just a form of sugar and when they are digested the blood glucose level spikes upward. Sugar spikes are what diabetics attempt to avoid. A good rule of thumb is that diabetics try to keep those sugar spikes below 180. With pasta that measures in at a very low 13 on the Glycemic Index and only 5 grams per serving of digestible carbohydrates, Dreamfields Foods has made it possible for diabetics to once again enjoy pasta. And that is a huge deal if you have diabetes. Dreamfields Foods saw a market need and filled that need through an innovative approach – exactly what the free enterprise system is designed to do. Imagine the possibility of a massive governmental bureaucracy inventing something as innovative as what Dreamfields Foods did. Right, it would never happen. In the world of the socialists some anonymous bureaucrats would devise a series of five year plans for the economy. And minus the economic stimulus of taking risks and potentially reaping rewards, there would be no incentive for industry to look for solutions in the pasta market.
Pasta without sauce is a non-starter and Walden Farms has solved that problem with another shining example of meeting a market need through innovation. What do the following foods all have in common?
- Alfredo Sauce
- Tomato & Basil Sauce
- Garlic & Herb Sauce
- Strawberry Spread
- Raspberry Spread
- Blueberry Spread
- Apricot Fruit Spread
- Apple Butter
- Grape Spread
- Orange Spread
- Blue Cheese Dip
- Ranch Dip
- French Onion Dip
- Bacon Dip
- Chocolate Syrup
- Blueberry Syrup
- Caramel Syrup
- Strawberry Syrup
- Pancake Syrup
- BBQ Sauce (Original, Honey, Thick ‘N Spicy, and Hickory Smoked)
- Seafood Sauce
- Chocolate Dip
- Caramel Dip
- Marshmallow Dip
- Whipped Peanut Spread
- Chipotle Ranch Dressing
- Sesame Ginger Dressing
- Thousand Island Dressing
- Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
- Raspberry Vinaigrette
- Blue Cheese Dressing
- Caesar Dressing
- Honey Dijon
- French Dressing
- Creamy Bacon Dressing
- Balsamic Viniagrette
- Bacon Ranch Dressing
- Italian Dressing
- Asian Dressing
- Italian Sun Dried Tomato Dressing
- Zesty Italian Dressing
- Russian Dressing
- Creamy Italian Dressing
- Jersey Sweet Onion Dressing
- Coleslaw Dressing
Quite the list isn’t it? Okay, here’s the answer to the question. You can purchase any of those items from Walden Farms and each of those foods has zero sugar, zero gluten, zero carbs, zero fat, and zero calories. That’s right – totally guilt free! Imagine what Walden Farms has done for the diabetics of America! All of those foods had been taboo for diabetics until Walden Farms came along. Once again private enterprise recognized a market need and delivered magnificently within the free market system. You can rest assured that the Department of Agriculture, within a Big Government/Centrally Planned economy never would have developed this solution. Once again, free enterprise comes to the rescue. Thank you, Walden Farms!
Now what good is Whipped Peanut Spread if you don’t have bread to spread it on? Regular white bread is taboo for diabetics. Eating white flour is like injecting sugar straight into your veins. White flour bread has a Glycemic Index Value of 71. Anything above 70 is considered to be a High GI food. A score of 100 is the high end of the scale. Even whole wheat and multi-grain breads have to be treated with caution by diabetics. It is not just the flour. Manufacturers put sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, maltodextrin, honey, and assorted other bad ingredients for diabetics in their breads. So what kind of bread can a diabetic eat? Julian Bakery recognized this market need and came to the rescue. Julian Bakery offers a wide variety of breads for customers requiring special diets: gluten-free, high fiber, high protein, low calorie, low carbohydrate, wheat-free, and sprouted breads. Their products are carried nationwide by various retailers or you can buy their products online. Yet again the free market solved a problem! Julian Bakery saw a market need and came up with innovative products to fill that need.
When was the last time you saw Obama fix a problem? – Didn’t think so. Obama’s approach is to create a problem and then offer socialism as the fix to the problem that he created! To Obama and other socialists/communists the ONLY solution is government. Cradle to grave is their mantra. What the vast unwashed masses of liberals with their hands out begging for their share of Obama’s Stash haven’t figured out is that by depending upon the government for their physical security that they have relinquished their freedom and liberty.
Obama and his socialist administration do not possess an understanding of the proper role of government. They seek to control people instead of liberating them. As John Locke said many years ago:
The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings, capable of laws, where there is no law there is no freedom. For liberty is to be free from restraint and violence from others, which cannot be where there is no law; and is not, as we are told, ‘a liberty for every man to do what he lists.’ For who could be free, when every other man’s humour might domineer over him? But a liberty to dispose and order freely as he lists his person, actions, possessions, and his whole property within the allowance of those laws under which he is, and therein not to be subject to the arbitrary will of another, but freely follow his own. (Two Treatises of Civil Government, II, 57: P.P.N.S., p.101)
In 1959 President Dwight D. Eisenhower asked his Secretary of Agriculture, Ezra Taft Benson, to have a conversation with Nikita Khrushchev on the subject of agriculture. The conversation, later recounted by Benson, took a sharp turn away from agriculture and veered right into the essence of liberty versus totalitarianism:
“Your children will live under communism.” Khrushchev said.
“On the contrary,” Secretary Benson replied, “My grandchildren will live in freedom as I hope that all people will.”
Khrushchev then retorted: “You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept Communism outright; but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of Socialism until you will finally wake up and find that you already have Communism. We won’t have to fight you; we’ll so weaken your economy, until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.”
That is what Obama is doing. He is feeding us doses of socialism, knowing that one day we will wake up and find that we live in a communistic society. Note that Khrushchev pointed out how socialism will weaken our economy. That is the great danger to free enterprises like Dreamfields Foods, Julian Bakery, and Walden Farms. Socialism’s goal is to rid society of free enterprise. Socialism is merely a stepping stone to communism. And communism means no private enterprise. Communism’s goal is to exert total control over every aspect of our lives. Benson had an exact opposite view to Khrushchev’s concerning free enterprise:
Under our system there has been released great creative capacity, because we have been free, unrestricted. What have we achieved? A standard of living unequalled anywhere in the world. Not because we are smarter, not because we are more brilliant, not because we have greater capacity than people of other nations, but because we have had a system which is superior—a system which was wisely provided by the Founding Fathers. We must protect and safeguard that system. Sometimes we find people who almost apologize for it—the free enterprise system. Of course it is not perfect; it is operated by human beings, but it is the best system in operation in this world today. If we are wise, we will preserve it, we will strengthen it and we will safeguard it for our children and our children’s children.
Benson is not alone in his view of the vital nature of the free enterprise system. Here are some thoughts on this subject by other notable people:
Free enterprise has done more to reduce poverty than all the government programs dreamed up by Democrats – Ronald Wilson Reagan
And from another former president:
The government can supply no substitute for enterprise. – Calvin Coolidge
Yet another quote from Coolidge:
The wise and correct course to follow in taxation and all other economic legislation is not to destroy those who have already secured success but to create conditions under which every one will have a better chance to be successful.
Abraham Lincoln also spoke about free enterprise:
The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the family relation should be one uniting all working people of all nations and tongues and kindreds. Nor should this lead us to a war on property, or the owners of property. Property is the fruit of labor; property is desirable; is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. – Abraham Lincoln
Walter E. Williams pointed out the despotic thinking process of tyrants:
People who denounce the free market and voluntary exchange, and are for control and coercion, believe they have more intelligence and superior wisdom to the masses. What’s more, they believe they’ve been ordained to forcibly impose that wisdom on the rest of us. Of course, they have what they consider good reasons for doing so, but every tyrant that has ever existed has had what he believed were good reasons for restricting the liberty of others. – Walter E. Williams
The prominent economist Milton Friedman also chimed in on the subject of free enterprise:
The argument for collectivism, for government doing something, is simple. Anybody can understand it. ‘If there’s something wrong, pass a law. If somebody is in trouble, get Mr. X to help them out.’ The argument for voluntary cooperation, for a free market, is not nearly so simple. It says, ‘You know, if you allow people to cooperate voluntarily and don’t interfere with them, indirectly, through the operation of the market, they will improve matters more than you can improve it directly by appointing somebody.’ That’s a subtle argument, and it’s hard for people to understand. Moreover, people think that when you argue that way you’re arguing for selfishness, for greed. That’s utter nonsense.
Lew Rockwell made this inspired statement:
The larger the government, the more our livings standards are reduced. We are fortunate as a civilization that the progress of free enterprise generally outpaces the regress of government growth, for, if that were not the case, we would be poorer each year — not just in relative terms, but absolutely poorer too. The market is smart and the government is dumb, and to these attributes do we owe the whole of our economic well-being.
Ayn Rand tells us what happens when the socialists/communists win:
When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion – when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors – when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you – when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – you may know that your society is doomed.
P.J. O’Rourke said it even more succinctly than Rand:
When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators.
On the subject of government bailouts Henry Hazlitt said this:
It is just as essential for the health of a dynamic economy that dying industries should be allowed to die as that growing industries should be allowed to grow. For the dying industries absorb labor and capital that should be released for the growing industries. It is only the much vilified price system that solves the enormously complicated problem of deciding precisely how much of tens of thousands of different commodities and services should be produced in relation to each other. These otherwise bewildering equations are solved quasi-automatically by the system of prices, profits and costs. They are solved by this system incomparably better than any group of bureaucrats could solve them. For they are solved by a system under which each consumer makes his own demand and casts a fresh vote, or a dozen fresh votes, every day; whereas bureaucrats would try to solve it by having made for the consumers, not what the consumers themselves wanted, but what the bureaucrats decided was good for them.
And finally, Walter Lippman ends our lesson thusly:
In a free society the state does not administer the affairs of men. It administers justice among men who conduct their own affairs.
The free enterprise system is closely tied to the principle of individual liberty. That is why we must do everything in our power to preserve it. That is why Obama must lose the 2012 election. That is why conservatives must take the Senate from the Democrats. That is why there must be a massive conservative uprising the likes of which has never before been seen. We are in a literal war for our freedoms and the freedom of our children and grandchildren.
I have a dream that one day the perverse philosophy of communism will be rooted out of our national consciousness.
I have a dream that one day government will shrink to the minimum size necessary to fulfill its constitutional mandates.
I have a dream that our children and their children will be freed from the mountain of debt thrust upon their shoulders by Obama and his like-minded minions.
I have a dream that the patriots of this nation will rise up and save free enterprise from the very brink of destruction and that the principle of working for what we get will reign supreme in our economy.
I have a dream that government handouts will cease for the lazy and that people, through their own good works, will voluntarily provide for the needs of the truly destitute among us – lifting both themselves and the needy with their generosity.
I have a dream that the philosophy of equal outcomes will be replaced with the philosophy of equal opportunity. May people choose for themselves what they will make of their lives and reap the rewards of their own hard labor.
I have a dream that we will elect a righteous president who will preside over us in full devotion to the Constitution of the United States.
I have a dream that the communists will be eradicated from the United States Congress through the power of an enlightened electorate exercising their rights at the ballot box without fear of intimidation.
I have a dream that the United States of America will fulfill its destiny as the world’s beacon of liberty and through its shining example lift all nations, all peoples, and all societies.
I close with the words of a hymn familiar to all citizens of these United States. It is a poetic prayer of supplication for the preservation of our precious liberties.
Our fathers’ God, to thee,
Author of liberty,
To thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light.
Protect us by thy might,
Great God, our King!
November 2nd, 2010 will forever be remembered as a new Independence Day. It will be the day honoring the masses of freedom-loving patriots who will rise up to reclaim their liberty, their constitutional rights, and their right to worship God according to the dictates of their own consciences. It will live on forever in our hearts as the day when latter-day heroes, awakened from their slumber by the machinations of the forces of evil, fought an epic battle and emerged victorious. Bruised, yes; battered, yes; bloodied, yes, and yet despite all odds, the great American people will see through the propaganda of the Obama regime, defy the intimidation tactics of the New Black Panther Party and the SEIU, ignore the elitist, statist JournoListers of the Main Stream Media, and storm the polls in a national swell that shall sweep away the absolute rule of their oppressors.
America was founded on the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It was founded by God-fearing men. The founders recognized the hand of the Almighty in the creation of the United States of America. And modern day patriots remain true to the principles upon which this country was founded. It will be these patriots who will save The United States from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. “Mankind.” That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom… Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night!” We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! – President Thomas Whitmore (from the movie Independence Day)
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20
The opposing forces in this war of ideology transcend the labels of Democrats and Republicans. This is no less than a war of good versus evil. It is a war for the souls of men. Akin to the plight of patriots during the War of Independence, there are enemy sympathizers among us. Those once known as loyalists – because of their loyalty to the British Crown – have been replaced by moderates, RINOs, political party elites, special interests, labor unions, and behind the scenes political operatives. The propaganda, manipulations, and machinations of the forces of darkness are attempting to redefine what is good – claiming it to be evil. They know that they will win this war if they can confuse us by turning morality on its head. They know they can win if they can convince us that a man in the White House is our Messiah. They know that if they can sell us on false prophets such as Cass Sunstein, Valerie Jarrett, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Harry Belafonte and Van Jones, that they will win. They know that if they can replace our true heroes such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with the likes of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Steny Hoyer, and Barbara Boxer, that they will win. With craftiness, cunning, and hearts of stone, they demonize our heroes and patriotic leaders such as Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh. They even have the audacity to demonize God himself. They are without morals. They are without honor. They are ruthless. They are corrupt. They are the very definition of evil. That is the nature of our enemies. They are powerful. They are pervasive, and they are entrenched. Yet, they will fail.
Why, you ask? – Because we surround them. And for all the danger the Obama Administration represents to freedom, it has been a blessing in disguise. The arrogance, ineptitude, pride, stupid decisions, and outright corruption of the forces currently in power have awakened the sleeping giant that is the true America. Not since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor has this sleeping giant stirred from his sleep, arisen, and defeated the enemy. But now the forces of good have awakened and joined the fight.Patriots, such as my friend Jessica Puente-Bradshaw, have arisen out of obscurity and taken on the entrenched elites. Jessica is one of my heroes. A mother of several young children and burdened with all of what goes into raising these children in righteousness, Jessica recognizes the perils facing America. She came out of obscurity to run as a Republican candidate for Congress representing the 27th District in Texas.
We need a clear plan for change to put our country back on track. We need real tax reform to help revitalize our economy, not federal government health care mandates. We need to help create jobs that put people back to work, not federal government energy mandates on businesses. We need to protect the rule of law when it comes to immigration, not federal government amnesty proposals. – Jessica Puente-Bradshaw
Unfortunately, Jessica did not win her primary election. But she sure did her part in raising the awareness level in Texas to the dangers facing America. And I have a sneaky suspicion that the story of Jessica isn’t over. She’ll be back. Jessica didn’t crave personal power.
She didn’t run for election in a quest for vain glory. No, Jessica did it to save America. She did the right thing for the right reason. And the beauty of it all is that America is now filled with a multitude of people just like Jessica. Though Jessica didn’t win her race, others just like her are winning – and turning the Liberal/RINO elite upside-down. We are winning. The enemy is running scared. They are in full panic mode. The latest conservative victories came in Tuesday’s primaries. Delaware and New York just witnessed conservative patriots win their primary elections – ousting entrenched members of the political elite. Countless more Jessica Puente-Bradshaws are preparing to flood the polls on November 2nd.
Take heart, fellow conservatives. We have joined the battle with the forces of evil. Although they appear to surround us – given all the attention their every word receives in the Main Street Media – the truth of the matter is that we surround them. This is still a center-right country. This is still a God-fearing country. This is still a freedom-loving country. And we will win.
The fight won’t be easy. November 2nd is not the end of the war. It is merely an opening skirmish, now that the forces for good have been roused from their slumber. But we slumber no more. The Silent Majority is no more. We’ve become the Vocal Majority – thanks to Jessica Puente-Bradshaw and millions of others just like her. Jessica, I salute you! You are ahead of the curve and I am proud to call you my friend.
