Easter – A Celebration of Hope and Rebirth

images

For Christians worldwide, Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus the Christ. While the eschatological doctrines associated with Christ’s crucifixion, death, and resurrection are a matter of faith, the attestation of primary accounts makes Jesus’ emergence from the tomb a matter of historical record. And many of the contemporary symbols associated with Easter date back centuries, and represent elements of this most holy of events from the life of one Jesus of Nazareth.

isaiah-scroll.lTo a historian, primary sources are the bedrock to validate or invalidate events or individuals averred to be historical. Princeton University History Department defines a primary source as, “a document or physical object which was written or created during the time under study. These sources were present during an experience or time period and offer an inside view of a particular event.”

Primary sources regarding the life of Jesus of Nazareth are plentiful. The eyewitness accounts of four contemporaries are recorded in the synoptic Gospels, the first four books of the New Testament. There are many secular primary sources that attest to the fact that Jesus lived at the time, including Roman historians Tacitus and Suetonius, and the Jewish historian Josephus.

As a quantitative matter of fact, there are more primary sources confirming the reality of Jesus of Nazareth than there are of the Roman leader Julius Caesar. Yet to my knowledge, no serious historian of the antiquities questions whether Julius Caesar really lived. Validating this concept, Rylands professor of biblical criticism and exegesis at the University of Manchester, F. F. Bruce wrote, “The historicity of Christ is as axiomatic for an unbiased historian as the historicity of Julius Caesar.” World historian Will Durant indicates that, to the best of his knowledge, “no Jew or Gentile from the first-century ever denied the existence of Jesus.”

images-1One of the most prolific classicists of our era, Michael Grant, has said, “In recent years, no serious scholar has ventured to postulate the non historicity of Jesus’ or at any rate very few, and they have not succeeded in disposing of the much stronger, indeed very abundant, evidence to the contrary.” In another of his works he states, “There are those who argue that Jesus is a figment of the Church’s imagination, that there never was a Jesus at all. I have to say that I do not know any respectable critical scholar who says that any more.”

The public death of Christ, by crucifixion, is also broadly accepted as historical fact. Michael Grant said of that event, as well as the account of his baptism, that those “two facts in the life of Jesus command almost universal assent.” Jesus’ public crucifixion is likewise referenced by secular historians of the age, Josephus and Tacitus.

Primary accounts of Jesus’ resurrection however, are exclusively non-secular. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John’s accounts of Jesus’ life, death, and subsequent resurrection, were canonized. Yet they were written, and widely promulgated, during the time when most of their contemporaries could have dismissed their accounts if they were perceived to have been fabricated or in error. F.F. Bruce confirms this perception, “Had there been any tendency to depart from the facts in any material respect, the possible presence of hostile witnesses in the audience would have served as a further corrective.”

Most of the original apostles died ignominious and horrible deaths as a direct result of their avowed faith in Jesus as Messiah. They died as martyrs for their convictions and testimony regarding the risen Christ. It is wholly unfathomable that someone would die a martyr’s death for a story thought to be no more than a fable. The fact that eleven of them, twelve including Paul of Tarsus, would do so only attests to the veracity of their witness statements. They forever sealed their testimonies with their blood.

blogger-image--1527425496Our contemporary iconography associated with Easter is colorful, literally, starting with the Easter bunny. Rabbits are widely known to be prolific procreators, and in some ancient cultures symbolized new life and fertility. The first Easter bunny arrived in America in the 1700s, courtesy of German immigrants, who perpetuated their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase, or “Oschter Haws.” German youth would make nests where the hare could lay its colored eggs, which later simply became decorated baskets for the multicolored eggs.

The egg itself represents new life. For Christians, Christ emerging from the tomb is symbolic of newborn life exiting an eggshell. Coloring and decorating eggs, according to some sources, dates back to the 13th century, undoubtedly with some pagan influence.

The timing of the Christian world’s Easter celebration is somewhat enigmatic to many, since it is observed anywhere from March 22nd, to April 25th. This is because early Christians felt that since the resurrection of their Lord occurred after the Passover, they always wanted Easter to follow that Jewish feast, which is based on solar and lunar cycles. The short explanation, roughly speaking, is that Easter is celebrated on the Sunday following the Paschal Full Moon.

imagesWhether celebrated for its theological implications, or its secular treats, Easter represents new life and resurrection, as the Northern hemisphere springs to life following the dreary, darker, and shorter days of winter. The symbolism likewise can represent as much or as little as one desires, but traditionally links back to rebirth and new life. How we respond to the symbolism and the day itself is wholly up to each of us.

Former Cardinal Basil Hume said of Easter, “The great gift of Easter is hope.” And in a world of so much ugliness, evil, and negativity, we all need all the hope we can get.

Destructive Effects of Multiculturalism

Multiculturalism

America has a rich history as a melting pot of cultures, ethnicity, and religion. Those who have come here over the past couple hundred years have sought a better life through the freedoms and liberties assured by our Constitution and the free enterprise system that fosters their “pursuit of happiness.” They’ve brought their culture, customs, and language with them, but they became Americans: learned English, learned our customs and conventions, and became encultured into the American way. America is great in large part because of the diversity of our people, and the richness of our cultural elements brought here. But multiculturalism has become much more than that, and is now more destructive than ameliorative, to American culture.

MulticulturalismIf the goal of multiculturalism was followed, which was to primarily facilitate the understanding and respect of other cultures, it would contribute, even add “seasoning” to our melting pot by encouraging our young people to compare and contrast, and then eclectically assimilate the best of all cultures. Instead, it has become an assailant to diminish Western values and advance ideologies distinctly anti-American. It has evolved, or devolved, to an illogical extreme that in academic and educational circles, attempts to vitiate the strengths and advances of Western civilization and promotes other cultures as preferable cultural paragons, regardless of their shortcomings.

Thomas Sowell, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University has said, “What ‘multiculturalism’ boils down to is that you can praise any culture in the world except Western culture – and you cannot blame any culture in the world except Western culture.”

Roger Kimball of the New Criterion has written, “Wherever the imperatives of multiculturalism have touched the curriculum, they have left broad swaths of anti-Western attitudinizing competing for attention with quite astonishing historical blindness.” Multiculturalism has led to the historical revisionism that paints Christopher Columbus as a nefarious European who initiated the transformation of a supposed paradisiacal Western hemisphere into the evil, corrupt America of today.

multiculturalism-poster-denigrationIt is multiculturalism that precludes Shakespeare from being studied by many university literature and English majors, because he was a “sexist and racist white man.” It is also the underlying principle engaged in revising history, including the historical roots of our contemporary observance of Thanksgiving and acknowledgement of the Christian principles prevalent at the time of our founding. Multiculturalism, in it’s extreme, is at the root of the removal of any references to Christ in the public square and public schools, even at the time we celebrate His birthday, for one characteristic of the movement is distinctly anti-Christian.

As convoluted as it may seem, Al Gore was perhaps correct when in the 2000 Presidential campaign he defined E Pluribus Unum as out of one, many, instead of the other way around. Multiculturalism in its extreme form seeks to divide rather than unify as Jefferson and Franklin intended, as emblazoned on the official Seal of the U.S.

A poll by the Pew Research Center a few years ago indicated that only 55% of Hispanics, living either legally or illegally in this country, consider themselves Americans. Another poll of Muslims in Los Angeles County indicated that only 10% of them consider themselves to be Americans. It seems the hyphenation of Americans is another social and cultural divider, rather than a unifier. A hyphenated American is just another symptom of political correctness.

Multiculturalism in its extreme weakens community bonds and reduces the motivation for new immigrants to participate in the common culture, the shared history and the common language of America: English.

The American concepts of freedom of expression, religion, human rights, liberty and democracy are distinctively Western values. As historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. has said, “These are European ideas, not Asian, nor African, nor Middle-Eastern ideas, except by adoption. There is surely no reason for Western civilization to have guilt trips laid on it by champions of cultures based on despotism, superstition, tribalism, and fanaticism.”

Teddy RooseveltThe pejorative aspects of multiculturalism have contributed alarmingly to a Balkanization of America, where differences are the focus instead of common values and ideals. Where culture and ethnicity divide us, rather than adding seasoning to our melting pot to enrich the entire culture.

President Theodore Roosevelt put the concepts of multiculturalism in perhaps the best context, although it was of course not known as such in 1907. He declared, “In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

As long as multiculturalism is an end in and of itself, or worse, as a means to continue to diminish western values and our history, and divide and weaken our country, we will continue to decline as a culture, losing those distinctively American traits that once made the nation unique. As it diminishes our value system, erodes our cultural strengths, and rewrites our history, the very meaning of what it means to be an American is perhaps forever changed.

Hypocrisy Only Applies to the Right!

HypMeter

Another week of news cycle finger-pointing goes both ways. The Left calls the Right hypocrites. The Right calls the Left hypocrites. Then comes the, “I know you are but what am I” line. Do you feel like you’re back in high school with all the drama?

I took a parenting class years ago where the person teaching the class said that kids are masters at deflecting the conversation to get out of trouble and take the heat off of themselves. They twist and tweak and throw temper tantrums until they get what they want. Enter the loons on the Left!

It started with Senator Dick Durban’s (D) statement saying that Republican Senators were going to hold up Loretta Lynch’s nomination until a vote was cast for a specific bill. Why did Republicans do that? Because Democrat Senators were playing politics with a serious sex slave and human trafficking bill. Durban stated that Republicans were relegating her to the “back of the bus” until the bill was passed. Hmmm… what possible meaning would “back of the bus” have? Why didn’t he say “back burner” or “the end of line” or something less, what am I looking for here, RACIAL! Instead, he tried to make it look like Republicans were not interested in affirming her or voting on her confirmation simply because she was black. Mr. Durbin, your medication isn’t working! Wasn’t it you who held up the nomination of Condoleezza Rice as Secretary of State? But I’ll bet the farm it had nothing to do with her color or her being a black woman, nor did a Republican accuse you of that.

Then there is that little matter of Democrats not getting involved with Netanyahu because it was too close to the elections in his country. As if shaking hands with our president would have assured him a win! Although if Obama’s campaign operatives were smart they might have made it happen considering a recent CNN poll showing that the majority of Israelis don’t trust Mr. Obama.

Faith, Celebrities, Charity, & the War on Christianity!

studio001

Denzel Washington dishes on his religious upbringing and his faith in God and the Bible.

War on Christianity (not all religions). You don’t see the Quran and Torah being banned from schools, military, and public places like is happening with the Bible.

Celebrities who “come out” vocal about their Christian faith.

Are you looking for your blessing? When was the last time you blessed someone else?

Ferguson police setup & got themselves shot to gain sympathy, according to neighbors! HUH?

The Loons are Making Headway!

CooCooSNest

Each week I am inundated with emails from people all over the country with stories that are “out of this world.” Some are so deep in conspiracy theories that, if compiled, we would have a great science fiction novel. But let’s deal with a little reality, truth, and fact!

Look at what’s happening on our college campuses. Jewish students being arrested at a peaceful protest for inciting a riot. They did nothing. The opposition started the violence because they wanted the Jewish students to stop “spreading their propaganda.” Wow, really!? On our college campuses, where free thought and free flow of ideas are openly welcomed? REALLY? Or recently, at a California college, a Jewish student was denied acceptance to a committee. Not because she was unqualified, but because she was Jewish. Yep. So much for a institutes of higher learning and reason.

Where are the professors and administrators while all this is going on? Sitting around their little Lib think-tanks, or should I say, “Devoid of Rational Thought Tanks.” There is little to no pushback from the Liberal academia. Why? From what I have read, it’s because they are smarter than us! It’s because we are too uneducated to work it through without their help and anyone from “their world.” Any professors who take a more Conservative stance on issues are immediately ridiculed and pushed out. Once again I say, so much for freedom of thought and free flowing ideas on campus.

It seems most of these campuses have become little Liberal concentration camps to reprogram those who have lost their way and gone down the Conservative thinking path. They have to be reprogrammed and brought back to a more Liberal way of thinking. Those already in the Liberal Camp are reinforced that all is good in their world.

No, you say?

Nothing says political like Selma!

Selma

The President went to Selma, Alabama to celebrate and commemorate the march across the bridge that helped bring civil rights to the forefront, into the living room of all Americans, and help move it forward. Yes, it was aimed at the black community, but as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed, all would be judged on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin… black, white, brown, or otherwise.

I say commemorate because the people involved in the Selma march (there were white folks there too) were not welcome there. They knew they could be killed. They knew they would have no place to sleep, probably not much food, and certainly not much help. They didn’t care. They knew that what they were fighting for was right and, as with our forefathers, believed it was worth losing everything for, even dying for. They deserve to be remembered and honored.

Unlike people today who say they are protesting about how they are being treated. “Hands up don’t shoot” turned out to be a lie. Any apologies to the policeman who had to quit and move out of town because of that LIE? Not so much.

These people would have made Dr. King proud, right? I am sure he would have encouraged them to loot and burn down buildings and beat up people in their communities, right? No, he would not have approved! He was for peaceful demonstrations, unlike the Reverend Al “Get-it-where-and-when-I-can” Sharpton. Rev. Al forgot that at his million marchers event in New York City. His followers chanted: “What do we want??…DEAD COPS!…When do we want them??…NOW!!!” A perfect example of Dr. King? I think not.

I say celebrate because we celebrate the sacrifices made that day in Selma by people of all colors, yes, mostly black, but many others as well. The actions of those people that day sparked and continued a movement that couldn’t and won’t be stopped!

Jump ahead 50 years. We have a black president, a black attorney general, and many positions of authority at the White House are filled by people who have black skin (sorry, I’m not calling them all “African American” because I have been told by many blacks that they are not all of African descent, some are from Belize, Jamaica, and so on). We have come a long way in 50 years. Are we perfect? No!

CPAC 2015 Pre-View

CPAC stands for the Conservative Political Action Committee. Big woop! What does that mean? Well, in looking at some of the posts on Facebook and other online services, I can see that the Left believes it’s a bunch of stuffy, old, white, grey-haired guys that think the only good minority is one working for minimum wage.
‘Where did that come from? Can’t be from actual fact. Because leadership in the Republican party is as diverse, if not more so, than the Democrats leadership.
Look at the lineup, Governor Bobby Jindal, U.S. Representative Mia Love, Carly Fiorina, Senator Tim Scott and the list goes on. So how is it we let the Dem’s paint a picture of us as the modern day KKK? Marketing! You can lie about anything as long as you market it to the right people the right way.
To be clear, the Dems voted against ending slavery, against giving women the right to vote, and they started the KKK with the express intent to scare the blacks back into slavery or kill them off all together.
The Democrats have painted a picture that Republicans were responsible for all this. Like Brian Williams’ rescue from the downed chopper, it ain’t so!
President LBJ said he knew how to keep them n*****s voting for Democrats for 100 years. He was right. Keep anyone dependent on the government for food, shelter, money and so on and they will do anything you want them to do out of self-preservation.
Republicans have always fought for the rights of all people. All the misdirection from the Left can’t change that.
And let’s talk about this “war on women.” …

The Perfection Known as Obama?

SuperBama

Once again, this week many of Mr. Obama’s failed “policies” started to close in around him; military, economic, healthcare, and immigration to name a few.
Mr. Obama has, again, submitted a plan to defeat ISIS… ISIL… terrorists, I don’t even know what to call them so he will know who I’m talking about.
He wants a 3 year war powers authorization to finally defeat “the enemy.” But it still doesn’t include boots on the ground. Really? Even after many of his military advisors, many retired military advisors, and many of the allies that we have left in the Middle East say it won’t work without boots on the ground. This plan comes from a man who continually ignores the experts, a man who probably hasn’t ever played a game of “battleship,” let alone care about our military as a whole.
His last plan is working so well that 24 Christians were beheaded yesterday by ISIS affiliates and the successful example of his plan working in Yemen (his words not mine) is evidenced by their fall on the very day he claimed victory there.
Let’s pray for our troops in Iraq who are being surrounded as I write this. In the meantime, the White House is “monitoring” the situation. That’s just further proof that the Prez couldn’t care less about our men and their mental state. HEY PREZ… YO! Why don’t you grow a spine and send in our Air Force to wipe out anyone who even smells like they’re going hurt our guys? Show you care about US instead of THEM!!!
He has no problem housing, feeding and providing medical care for all those illegals within days of their arrival across our border, yet he is willing to keep letting our vets die long, slow deaths because they can’t get medical care, there aren’t enough facilities or doctors, and definitely, not enough caring! Apparently, there is no executive order he can sign to speed it up!
Mr. Obama also has decided it would be good to do a “selfie” commercial to get young people to sign up for Obamacare. Please note that Obamacare is woefully low on membership. They are millions of subscribers behind from what they need since they were relying heavily “forcing” young people to sign up and carry the older folks who would be a drain the healthcare system.
It looks like a little more than 10 million have actually signed up “for REAL” and the system, based on early estimates, needs at least 13 million with a large number being young signees. So far, there have been numerous complaints about broken exchanges, cancelled coverage, higher premiums, and unaffordable deductibles. Oh, and let’s not forget that the administration cancelled over 6 million policies deemed to be substandard forcing just under 6 million to have to sign up on Obamacare to get insurance again. Forced healthcare!
Our economy is good? Well kind of!

Do You Know What You Stand For?

Confused OTF

Getting ready for one of my faith radio segments, I read that a private, Catholic school was suspending, and trying to fire, a professor for a blog post he had written. He called attention to a class where the substitute teacher told a student they couldn’t discuss gay marriage because it fostered homophobic feelings. Seriously?First, it is a private college, so I guess they can dictate what is acceptable to speak about and what isn’t. But, don’t people go to college to foster open, honest, intellectual discussion? Or is it now a place to foster politically correct (PC) conversation only?

Phobia is the fear of something. I don’t know anyone who is afraid of gay people or gay married people or gay divorced people or (insert other combination here).

Not believing in something or disagreeing with someone is not a fear! I don’t believe in allowing my 6 year-old grandchild to watch an “R” rated, sex-filled, foul-mouthed movie. By the Left’s definition of “phobic” I have a sex and foul language phobia.

It’s much easier to have honest conversation if you use the words properly. The only reason not to is because you don’t have the facts to win or you don’t really care about the facts and you just don’t want to have an honest conversation.

When people don’t have guidelines or don’t live by the guidelines and rules they say they believe in it’s very confusing for those around them and for themselves.

In the above example, this is a private Catholic school. If I were still a Catholic I would send my child there to strengthen their Catholic foundation and to get a good education in a Catholic environment. Simple, I understand what all those words mean.

So when the Catholic university got mad at a tenured professor for writing a piece about the student who was told that speaking about gay marriage would foster more homophobia in students he was just as confused because the Catholic bible also speaks against same-sex relationships.

I wonder if they are teaching that the Virgin Mary may very well have not been a virgin because many young girls were having sex in those villages? I’m just sayin’… apparently you can make it up as you go!

So why would it be an issue to discuss gay marriage? Are they no longer a Catholic organization? Can someone be a Christian and follow Mohammed? Can someone be a Muslim and follow Buddha? Of course not.

You cannot be a Catholic and make it up as you can go along. They are a very disciplined and, unless you attend the “Nancy Pelosi School of Catholicism” you have it all wrong.

And the Islamists Remained…

al-kaseasbeh

Conjuring images of the dying who had clawed at the dank walls of the gas chambers of Auschwitz, Jordanian Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh grabbed at his head, screaming out in agony as he fell to his knees, his body burning, his brain slowly cooking. His Daesh (Islamic State) captors had abruptly abandoned disingenuous negotiations with the Jordanian government for his release, their hostage having actually been killed many days before. Instead, they decided to record al-Kaseasbeh’s purposeful immolation. Having drenched him in accelerant, the savages lit the liquid fuse that set the young lieutenant ablaze. As he writhed, they filmed, indignant to his agony; his humanity. Barbarity for the purpose of terrorist propaganda had been achieved.

Just a month earlier, tens of thousands had taken to the streets in major Middle Eastern cities in support of Islamofascist assassins who slaughtered the staff at Charlie Hebdo. Turkey’s president, Recip Tayyip Erdogan, publicly intimated that the attacks in Paris were justified due to the magazine staff’s transgressions against Muslim sensibilities. And he went further than that, stating, obtusely, that Muslims have “never taken part in terrorist massacres.” Erdogan made these alarming statements as Boko Haram waded through the blood of the 2,000 people they slaughtered in the Nigerian town of Baga, in the name of Islam. So, violent, intolerant Islam is on the march.

Islamists have always been an aggressive faction. Starting with Muhammad and continuing on through the Byzantine-Arab Wars (634-750), the conquests of Persia and Mesopotamia (633–651), Transoxiana (662–751), Sindh (664–712), Hispania (711–718) and Septimania (719–720), the attempts to conquer the Caucasus (711–750), the conquest of Nubia (700–1606) and Anatolia (1060-1360), the incursions into southern Italy, including the conquest of Rome (831–902) and the Byzantine-Ottoman Wars (1299-1453), Muslims have sought to establish control of any and all lands they set foot on, whether by violence or attrition. However, one chapter of Islamic conquest – or bid for conquest – is seldom mentioned in the history books, and perhaps for good reason: World War II.

It is common knowledge – although today that cannot be assumed, given the Progressive Movement’s penchant for “nuancing history” – that during World War II Germany, Japan and Italy allied to form the Axis Powers in their war efforts. There were other affiliate and co-belligerent states (Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Thailand, Finland and Iraq), as well as “client states” (Albania, Burma, China, Croatia, India, Mengjiang, Manchukuo, Philippines, Slovakia and Vietnam), officially considered to be independent countries allied with Germany.

Furthermore, there were key geopolitical players who supported and collaborated with Adolf Hitler, the Nazis and the Axis Powers as a whole throughout the conflict. One such geopolitical player was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the Sunni Muslim cleric in charge of Jerusalem’s Islamic holy places, including the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The designation of “Grand Mufti” identifies the bearer as the:

“…highest official of religious law in a Sunni or Ibadi Muslim country. The Grand Mufti issues legal opinions and edicts, fatwas, on interpretations of Islamic jurisprudence…The collected opinions of the Grand Mufti serve as a valuable source of information on the practical application of Islamic law as opposed to its abstract formulation.”

During World War II the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was Haj Amin al-Husseini, who:

“…collaborated with both Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy by making propagandistic radio broadcasts and by helping the Nazis recruit Bosnian Muslims for the Waffen-SS. On meeting Adolf Hitler he requested backing for Arab independence and support in opposing the establishment in Palestine of a Jewish national home. At war’s end, he came under French protection, and then sought refuge in Cairo to avoid prosecution.”

When al-Husseini first met with Hitler and Ribbentrop in 1941, he assured Hitler that:

“The Arabs were Germany’s natural friends because they had the same enemies…namely the English, the Jews, and the Communists.”

Al-Husseini’s efforts in recruiting Muslim fighters for the Nazi cause resulted in the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS, the Handschar Brigade. The Handschar earned a reputation for being particularly brutal in exterminating partisans in north-eastern Bosnia. In fact, many local Muslims who stood witness to Handschar viciousness were driven to align with the Communist partisans.

The Grand Mufti was also integral in the organization of Arab students and North African immigrants to Germany into the Arabische Freiheitkorps, an Arab Legion in the German Army, that hunted down Allied parachutists in the Balkans and fought on the Russian front.

It would be right to conclude then that al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, home to one of Islam’s holiest shrines, was a willing collaborator with the Nazis and Adolf Hitler; someone who willingly facilitated the Nazi SS and their “Final Solution”; the genocide of the Jews. Yet, in the end, al-Husseini, perhaps the principle Muslim leader throughout that period, walked away from the conflict paying no price for his murderous deeds.

From Hitler’s Foreign Executioners; Europe’s Dirty Secret by Christopher Hale, pages 373-374:

“By the Winter of 1944, Berlin was no longer a safe haven for men like the Grand Mufti. He had never been a brave man and was often found cowering under tables as the great armadas of Allied bombers pounded the capital of the Reich. His allies in the foreign office, like Erwin Ettel, did what they could to protect their esteemed Muslim guest and tried to coax him to escape Germany to whatever safe haven he chose by U-Boat. The Mufti was simply too timid to contemplate such a journey and held on in Berlin to the very end. At the end of May 1945, the Grand Mufti and his entourage at last picked up and fled. He knew that once the British reached Berlin they would waste little time tracking him down. After many tribulations, they managed to reach Constance in the French zone of occupation. Recalling how well he had been treated after his flight from Palestine, when he escaped to French Beirut from British Palestine, the Grand Mufti surrendered to the French authorities. He was soon relaxing in an opulent villa near Paris…

“The Mufti had little time to enjoy French hospitality. His protectors discovered that an ‘Irgun’ assassination squad had arrived in France. On 28 May 1945, el-Husseini bolted to Italy, then secretly boarded a British ship, the SS Devonshire, bound for the Egyptian port of Alexandria.

“The return of the Grand Mufti electrified the Arab world. At a rally at Heliopolis in Cairo exultant crowds swamped his convoy – and King Farouk offered him appropriately sumptuous accommodations in his ‘Inshas Palace.’ The leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna, breathlessly declared: ‘The hearts of the Arabs palpitated with joy at hearing that the Grand Mufti had succeeded in reaching at Arab country…The lion is free at last and will roam the Arabian jungle to clear it of wolves. The great leader is back.’”

Today, as we witness the barbarous immolation of a warrior who dared to confront a culture of death, the Islamists remain. In the aftermath of the assassination of those who engage in free speech, as Daesh executes conquest after conquest leaving myriad atrocities in their wake, the Islamists remain. And as leaders of Islamic countries (read: Turkey) advance excuses for the barbarity of Islamist executioners; ideological operatives who slaughter ruthlessly in the name of Islam, the Islamists remain. Little has changed in the violent Islamist world from the days of the Handschar. Indeed, in a time when the president of the United States refuses to consider his country at war with Islamist extremists and the massive movement they represent – and as he maintains a refusal to even speak the phrase “Islamic terrorism,” one can argue that violent Islamists are in a better position today than they were under Hitler.

At the end of World War II, the Allied Powers insisted on attaining unconditional surrender from each of the Axis Powers. Germany, Italy and Japan signed and agreed to unconditional surrender, their satellite nations in tow. Suspiciously absent from the list of Axis power aggressors agreeing to unconditional surrender is Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem; the Muslim facilitator of the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS, the Handschar. Why was this allowed to happen? Who was responsible for allowing this to happen?

I can’t help but feel that had the Allied Powers exacted an unconditional surrender from the Grand Mufti of all forces under his influence; had the Grand Mufti been brought to his knees in capitulation, perhaps – just perhaps – we would not be facing the “emboldened swords” of Daesh on the streets of the Western World and in Islamofascist occupied territories throughout the Middle East. I cannot help but feel that somehow, for some reason, the job of winning World War II was left unfinished…and the rise of violent Islamist terrorism is the price we are paying.

The world – much like in the nascent days of World War II – must once again strive to put aside the geopolitics of the day to come together in a definitive effort to confront the inglorious barbarity of Islamofascism. The peoples of the world must attack Islamofascism militarily, economically, historically and ideologically. Just as we must physically vanquish jihadists who would behead the innocent and set ablaze those who fight against them, so too must we starve them of operating capital globally, even as we correct the fictionalized history of “the religion of peace,” and especially as we deny them the ability to replenish their ranks; especially as we win – unconditionally – the war of ideas for all generations to come.

Today, the smoldering ashes of Jordanian Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh, a warrior who came to the aid of those being slaughtered by Daesh, lay denigrated underneath a pile of rubble, an excruciatingly painful death his reward for humanity’s service. And the Islamists remained. I can’t help but feel that the free world has unfinished business…until no Islamist remains.

The Real JV Team Emerges!

Talk about a “haunting comment.” This will go down as one of President Obama’s all time.

Can you imagine how thick the book of “Obama’s Greatest Faux Paus” will be? Or how many volumes it will be?  Do I need to list them all or do we have them memorized as some of us do the “Pledge of Allegiance”? (Notice I said some.)

Mr. Obama called ISIS a “JV Team” but now he says he didn’t quite say that. Just like he now says he didn’t quite say “you can keep your doctor” and he didn’t quite say “your health care premiums would be less than you cell phone bill.” It sure seems like we keep hearing him wrong and the internet records him wrong a lot too!

To continue, he called ISIS a JV Team because he felt they didn’t lack the brain power, resources, and commitment that it takes to go after the Pro Teams, like the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Syria and God only knows who else he was thinking of.

You see the reason you have a JV Team is because the players are younger, less experienced, and need more time to practice together. You don’t usually want them on the big boys team because they would drag them down.

That “JV Team” that Mr. Obama tagged, aka ISIS, is now in control of a very large part of the Middle East. They are responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of innocent people. They are part of the reason oil prices are falling as they steal oil, load it up in stolen tankers, and sell it on the open market. They are instilling fear in and around Europe and parts of the U.S. These junior league boys are acting like, and accomplishing, senior league goals.

Why? Because they are committed at all costs, even to the point of death. That’s what makes them senior league. They are willing to give it all for the end game, and when they are up against it, they give some more. Their leaders speak out and stand behind their misguided principles and get the resources they need, by any means, to ensure they win.

Enter the “White House JV Team” (WHJV), the “Coyotes” ( I use coyotes because zoologist say they are the most cowardly animal and only attack when the enemy is well outnumbered.) This administration has gained control of one of the most powerful and feared fighting forces on the planet since the Roman army and has effectively turned them in to the most unreliable fighting force on the planet. And it’s no fault of the capable men and women that serve in the military.

This president knows more about more things than everyone of our great thinkers and philosophers before him. Just ask him and he tell you so!

I say this because he puts together military, economic, and social issue committees and takes little to none of the suggested actions from these committees.

He makes every mistake a first year law or medical student makes. Most students feel they have the answers after their first year in school and are willing to tell you what’s wrong with you before you even ask.

He put together a military commission on how to deal with ISIS and the threats in the Middle East. After they returned with their findings, mind you the committee was made up of seasoned military experts, he decided they were wrong and took it in another direction.  Ignoring the experts. A serious JV move.

To the jobs committee, he appointed the head of G.E. to chair it. The guy who took the majority of U.S. jobs overseas. Makes sense? Not so much. And once again implements almost none of the committee suggestions.

He gathered some well-known economists together for another committee, but none from the opposing side of the economic aisle. And when the committee came back with their recommendations, he implemented some but not the majority.
