Migrant Children – Pawns in an Insidious “Game”

Never could I have imagined that an authority of our government would dare to suggest that children be used to further political gain.  Clearly, the children crossing illegally into our country don’t have the capacity to understand how they are being used to perpetrate a 21st century “slavery” scam.

These children will become wards of the state.  The government will control what they receive in terms of entitlements; they will control where they will live, they will control who will raise them, what they will learn in school – and perhaps most importantly what they will learn about their new country, they will control how they will vote, who they will marry – the list is endless.

The plethora of obvious questions now must come to any sane and reasonable mind.

Who will take care of these children?

Will an open door exist for unlimited and unaccompanied children to pass through? It’s ludicrous.  I guess if the goal is to create a new generation of “slaves” of the government then the notion is not so ludicrous; just morally bereft.

Who will manage this elaborate $3.5 billion scam?  Is “Homeland for Migrant Children” now to become another department of our increasingly oppressive government?

What of American citizens who are presently seeking to adopt children from other countries?  Will all of those processes now stop in favor of our government telling them to take in illegal children?  And what of the countless dollars and red tape spent by anxious couples hoping to adopt – will those funds be reimbursed?

What happens when our citizenry, not looking to adopt, is told they must?

Has our “regime” now chosen a new demographic and protected class for which taxpayers must “foot the bill?”

What is to become of the biological parents of these children who will most certainly attempt to make a claim against our government for their own welfare?  Won’t these children become de facto citizens who can then bring their relatives here?

These initial questions only scratch the surface of what should be a more thorough understanding of the dire consequences of this latest action.

The most disturbing question that should be asked is:

Will we tolerate our authorities to use children for political gain?”

This latest maneuver is diabolical, deceitful and insidious.  And it is all being done on purpose.

Our government has put us in “Check”. We need to wake up before they say, “Check Mate”.

Reinventing the Founders, or: A Response to Jill Lepore on July 4th, 2014

While sipping my tea this wonderful July 4th, I came across an article on Bill Moyers’ site where the author stated that the Founders would not recognize the Tea Party or their ideas; in fact, they would be appalled by them. Jill Lepore, the author of the piece, seems to know her subject, and she brings up some good points regarding how the Right Wing in general and Evangelical Christians in particular view the Founders. You can read her remarks here, but I’m going to provide a summary of her opinion with my response to follow.

Basically, the Founders are no help to us today. They wrote and said so much to so many, in some cases contradicting each other and themselves as time went on, that to strictly interpret their words and our Constitution is moot. We’re on our own in interpreting their words for our time and following the spirit of their efforts to shape America into what she should be, and that means the Founding Documents must evolve too. They aren’t written in stone, after all, but paper that degrades over time. The Founders didn’t create a perfect union; they created a flawed one, and it’s up to us to get it right. They weren’t the faithfully religious Christians the Evangelicals would like you to believe, so presenting them as such is also an error, and we cannot rightfully claim that the U.S. was built on any kind of Biblical or moral foundation because their recorded remarks simply don’t back that up. In other words, they just ain’t the guys you want to hold up as a standard-bearer. In fact, they got it so wrong the first time that we had to fight a Civil War to make corrections.

I think she’s right on a few things. Christians and conservatives have built the Founders into Saints, and they don’t belong there. They were men of their time, following the passions and ideas of their time, and if they were here today….well, I don’t think the Church would approve, certainly not of Ben Franklin and his dalliances with French ladies. Jefferson’s pantheism would send conservative Christians into furious rage.

I will go on record as saying that the experiment in self-governance that the Founders initiated was simply that. They read some books and considered some ideas and were able to take advantage of a situation in which to stir up a rebellion. They were in the minority. Plenty of Colonists were perfectly happy living under British rule, but the Founders were passionate enough to try. In other words, they weren’t fighting for the freedom of you or me. They were fighting for their own freedom, a chance to see if self-governance could work. Did they have future generations in mind? Surely they at least considered it. Some of them, like Jefferson and Franklin, didn’t think we could keep this Republic going. In the end I don’t think they looked further ahead than their own lives, and they lived long enough to see America grow as a free nation. When the last of the Founders passed, that was the end of their involvement in this experiment. It was a success, and left to the rest of us to carry on, if we could keep it.

While, philosophically speaking, man should be free to govern his own affairs, the fact is that only a small percentage of man is capable of doing that. The rest want a “safety net” and somebody to look after them should a problem arise; even more want a king to tell them what to do because life is tough, and it’s tougher when you’re stupid.

Man’s natural state is to live on his knees. He wants somebody to rule over him, not necessarily violently, but he certainly wants control over his life because of the chaotic state which is life’s way of doing business, assuming, if we must, that “life” is sentient. Because sentient life is out of control, we need some sort of man-made control to weather the storm. When you look at other governments around the globe, none are like ours. Progressives love to point out that because we don’t have some of the programs and ideas that other governments have, it means we’re less civilized. There are people who not only want to live in shackles, they indeed race to the front of the line to get their shackles before anybody else. It’s a badge of honor.

The Founders and those that inspired them refuted that, and it doesn’t matter if their own words contradict each other. Let’s go to the basics of what inspired them: Man should be free. What did they do? Create a government in the best way they knew how to ensure that man could be free. What happened instead? Those unable to take care of themselves, over time, made enough noise so that they could have the government take care of them, and since we are all our brother’s keepers, we must all contribute to the welfare of those who are unable to help themselves. Those same people exploited the flaws in the personal lives of the Founders to discredit their ideas and cast doubt on this great experiment.

And as for putting these men on a pedestal….well, that’s what man does, too, going well back to the golden calf. Man not only wants to live on his knees, he wants to worship what he can see. For all the talk the Church makes of not worshiping idols, we sure have a lot of them. It puts a burden on the Founders they were never meant to have, and gives ammunition to the progressives who gleefully point out that they can’t measure up to their Sainthood.

The Founders, though, are partially responsible for where we put them. Their recorded words still resonate; they have resonated with future generations that agreed, yes, man should be free, and those future generations have done everything possible to keep their ideas alive, because they are worthy ideas.

Instead of worshiping the men, however, what we should look to instead is the spirit of their ideas, and to the writers and philosophers of the Enlightenment who inspired them, to see how we too can be inspired today. The idea is more important than the man who communicates it.

Man should be free. Man should not oppress other men. Man should be allowed to forge his own way with as little restrictions as possible considering he must coexist with other Men. That means compromise, which is now a dirty word that neither the left nor the right will admit exists in our vocabulary.

In a perfect world, that’s what we would have. Instead we have strife. Man vs. Man. Conflict. Each side thinks it knows best and works to subdue the other side. Because my enemy rises against me, I must smite him because I was meant to be free. Today I use words same as Thomas Paine, though certainly he was far more eloquent. Perhaps someday I will use a rifle as those many nameless Revolutionary soldiers were forced to do, so many years ago, because the enemy refused to allow their freedom. As far as this nation has fallen, I’m frankly surprised I’m not writing this from a trench somewhere in the middle of America with enemy guns over the horizon as we march toward Washington for a final battle, because still we fight for an experiment that is by far the most worthy experiment ever devised.

Jill Lepore is wrong. In trying to discredit the Founders, she has shown her own bias and continues to fan the flames of a conflict we cannot afford. We can indeed look to the Founders for how we should govern ourselves today. They laid it all out in great detail; problem is, the progressives think we must all live as a Collective, with their own ideas of “mild” oppression, and here I am being kind. Conservatives have their own “mild” oppression on the agenda, too, which is equally repugnant. Examples will occur to you.

If we are to truly honor the ideas of the Founders, none of the above can happen here. Does that make me a pariah for not toeing the party line? Does that make me a Communist? I don’t think so, but plenty will accuse me of exactly that. So be it. My bullets will go wherever I aim them. Because the more I examine the ideas of the Founders, the more I am absolutely forced to toss religion and the “party” out of the discussion, the more I have to admit that there is a lot we haven’t done right, and if we truly believe in this experiment of self-governance than we need to stop fighting and forge the perfect union that has so far eluded us. Am I making Lepore’s point? Absolutely not, because I’m not arguing from the side of the Collective; nor is she truly arguing from the side of the ideas expressed by the Founders. She advocates her own progressive interpretation, which is wrong. I also don’t think I’m arguing for the conservative side. I want to get back to basics, to the original, uncorrupted ideas, which is what we need to do in order to keep this Republic. Unfortunately, we have dug so deeply into our parties and our “sides”, I do not believe that kind of compromise is possible.

I.C.E. Now Deems Illegal Alien Children ‘Unaccompanied’

U.S. southern border signNothing like semantics to confuse the masses. According to reports, I.C.E. is no longer using the term “Unaccompanied Alien Children” to refer to the stream of minor illegal aliens flooding across the Southern border.

The children have commonly been referred to as “unaccompanied alien children,” or “UACs.” With the new directive, laid out in a June 4 email, both terms will be dropped and replaced with “unaccompanied children.”

How harmless and sad it seems if one were to come across an unaccompanied child.  It brings images of lost children in grocery stores or kids lost in the woods. Who wouldn’t want to take them in and help them find their parents?

Americans, by and large, would like to do the same for these kids. Find their parents and send their children back to them – in the countries they came from. In fact, 2-out-of-3 Americans polled disapprove of Obama’s handling of the alien child flood.

Why take “alien” out of the classification? Will children found without adults be given the same treatment as children crossing the border without parents? Distinction and definition is important.

Had the parents applied for American citizenship and gone through the standard process, they would likely be receiving their citizenship like those in the ceremony that Obama attended today. Their children would not have had to risk their lives to go it alone.

Obama’s failure to lead on the issue is putting lives at risk and creating a national security nightmare. Simply re-classifying the problem does not make it go away.

I wonder…

Hmmm, I wonder what will happen when a culture that has been made afraid of its traditions, guns, speaking up, standing up, and making a stand because anyone who does will be attacked and jailed. A society that has been made afraid of its government and what has become a ruling class. A society that has been torn apart and put at each others throats for trivial slights and offenses against each other. A society that from cradle-to-grave is being taught to only trust in government to make all their decisions in life and defense. Even while the same government opens the country’s borders to all comers from the 3rd World and refuses to name the marching toward conquest Enemy as an enemy. A society that is disarmed and unable to defend themselves from petty thieves or grand politicians schemes of self-serving grandeur—

Comes into direct contact with…

—Another society where the people have been taught from cradle-to-grave to hate all Outsiders. To demand that all other people and religions are to bow down and obey- to submit. A society where death is the way to paradise and that killing non-believers is justified. Anyone who speaks out is to die. Anyone else who stands in their way is to be massacred. There is to be no quarter until all are conquered. A society that worships guns, death, killing, murder in the name of their cause for World Domination.

What would happen if such a thing were to ever happen?

In this time of partisan politics and societal narcissism, we, as a people – both individually and as a society – often forget the underlying idea behind e pluribus unum, “out of many, one,” our national motto. It is based in a notion that many individuals can come together to form a society – a free, civilized society, where each individual not only executes self-reliance and individual responsibility, but a level of benevolence and compassion that produces the feeling of a unique identity; of national “family.” But these modern times betray our roots, in action, thought and deed, making us (or many of us anyway) unworthy of the motto itself.

From the Baby Boomer “Me Generation” to the “Gen X-ers,” “Millenials” and “New Silent Generation,” each has been instilled with not only a unearned and falsely elevated sense of self-worth, but an entitled and self-centered sense of being that has led us away from e pluribus unum; away from the benevolence of brotherhood; away from the compassion that creates a truly civilized society. This has come to pass through the manipulation of our people by political opportunists and the elitism of the Progressive Movement.

I could delve into the minutia of the groups that have foisted this malady upon our nation, but that is not the focus of this article. Identifying these culprits as the source of the cancer does not serve to cure the cancer. But it does allow us to see how the cancer spreads. It spreads through the vicious concept of “divide and conquer.” Those who thirst for power instead of righteous service to the nation serve their lust by dividing our people to stand against ourselves. They pit labeled group against labeled group, fomenting resentment, envy, fear and even hated for our fellow man, simply so create a larger sub-group than their competitors, and simply to attain power and the ill-gotten riches that tearing apart a peoples affords.

Truth be told, the overwhelming number of Americans want and strive for the same things: a house (so it can become a home), comfort (so they can achieve safety), a meaningful and un-manipulated education for our children (so they can embrace the opportunities before them) and freedom to associate (family and friends). Yes, there are other aspects of agreement amongst the great majority of Americans, but these serve to make my point. We as Americans have more in common that we do in difference. It is the power seekers and the special interest Progressives who seek to pit us against one another; who quest to divide us to crisis so that they can provide the next “final solution.”

We, as a people, have lost our way. We have forgotten what it is to be truly benevolent, to be truly kind and caring. We have been conditioned to seek victimhood over a call to sacrifice; conditioned to put ourselves and our personal desires ahead of our brothers and sisters’ basic needs; to abdicate loyalty to others should the task of loyalty become burdensome. We have forgotten one of the greatest “rules” of all time, “So in everything, do unto others what you would have them do to you…” I would add to that, to be so bold, that an overwhelming majority of Americans have also become conditioned to believe that government is the only answer; the only solution; the only entity capable of helping the victim, the needy, the destitute, those without hope. Perhaps this last notion – that government is the only answer – is the most evil lie of all, society’s cancer, the destroyer of our Republic.

You may ask what brought me to these thoughts. It wasn’t a political event or discussion. It wasn’t a book or a film. It was, simply, painfully, the passing of my dog; loyal, caring, steadfast, true and loving without condition.

At 3:13am, June 25, 2014, my good friend of 11 years and 11 days, Reilly, slipped the captive bonds of this world to escape the pain that the ravages of age inflict upon all living things.

He was a confidant and a companion; the gentlest being I have ever encountered. Never encumbered by the trappings of humanity’s flaws, the love he exuded was palpable by even the harshest cynic.

Even as I grieve his loss – a sadness more crippling than I ever imagined it would be, I can’t help but feel his loyalty; his gentleness; his unconditional love touching my heart from beyond, as if to feel him lick my face and lay his head on my lap, looking up to me with those compassionate, true and soulful eyes to say, “It’s okay, Daddy. We’ll get through this.”

True, honest, loyal, giving and loving: benevolent. From the moment I held him as a puppy to his last seconds being held in my hands, he executed what we as a nation have taken for granted. He, my wife Nancy and I became a “family,” we became “one,” without condition or caveat. The addition of his sister, Coulter, completed our little family. E pluribus unum, if only for our small part of the world.

Last night, as Nancy and I lay for the first moments of a life without Reilly, I said, “Well, he’s God’s dog now.” To which, Nancy replied, “He was always God’s dog. He just let you play with him awhile.” Truer words, I have come to accept, I don’t think have ever been spoken.

I am thankful for each minute, each second I shared with Reilly, and I will always remember him with the greatest of affection – in unconditional love – and with a heartfelt gratitude for that special relationship; that special time that passed much too quickly. I miss him, and I will miss him – Reilly, my trusted friend – terribly.

In his passing I have found my renewed desire to execute benevolence and to guard against those who would affect division amongst we Americans; affect transgression against e pluribus unum. I hope that whatever your catalyst is for your rededication to this principle does not come complete with the anguish mine did.

To my friend Reilly, God bless you my good boy. Daddy loves you…he always will. Time for sleeping.

Parenting (citizen) and Kids (government) Story

A little story about parenting: Imagine: Parents have told their kids that they had better clean their room or they don’t get any ice cream. Instead of cleaning the kids making it messier, thinking that they will PUNISH the parents- that the they parents will break and give in. How dare the parents deny ice cream? Parents still say no. So the kids smear the walls with feces, dump out the drawers, tear everything from the closet. The kids invite their friends over. Other kids that raid the cabinets and refrigerator. Taking whatever they want without asking or replacing. The parents still say ,”NO, you cannot have ice cream! Look at the mess you’re making! Someone HAS GO TO CLEAN this disaster up! Your friends have got to go to their own home and clean their own messes up!” The kids, while standing in the middle of the room, throw garbage, clothes, feces, hamsters, and pet chihuahua in the air say, “OK, give us the ice cream FIRST, THEN we’ll clean up this mess. WE PROMISE! If you don’t accept our terms: WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE and it means you HATE us. You hate my friends! WHY do you have all these RULES?!?” The parents in weakness and at their wits end with seeing the mess and destruction, wanting to do anything to have all this cleaned up and back the way it was, relent, “Okay, okay, come on and have the ice cream. But you had better come back upstairs and get this cleaned up.” “Sure, mom. Sure Dad,” the kids say, as they look at each other grinning behind the parents back as they walk down the hall to the kitchen, giving each other a wink and a nod. There will always be ice cream, cookies, movies, games- wants and needs that are considered more important than the REAL WORK that needs getting done. It’s never in the interest of the kids to clean up their mess, only the getting of what they WANT that matters to them. They know that one day they will be gone and it will be SOMEONE ELSE’S job to take care of all the trouble they created. That room will never cleaned and certainly will never be the same again.

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how our government is run.

The ten questions Hillary Clinton should be asked on Benghazi but never will

nowtheendbegins2The interview that Hillary Clinton did with Bret Baier & Greta Van Sustren was the equivalent of watching a little league team throw underhand pitches to someone in the Major Leagues. There was very little bark, not much bite, and just a few nibbles. This interview proves that the media is afraid to go after Hillary in fear of being called a bully or sexist. Hillary was allowed to sit there in her bright blue pantsuit and duck, dodge, and deflect. This interview was a golden opportunity to recant her testimony, catch her in her repeated lies, and most important hopefully have her snap on camera. America needs to see the real Hillary Clinton, the angry ex-hippy, with a fuse shorter than President Obama’s attention span when he is reading a teleprompter.

Here are the 10 questions Hillary should have been asked but unfortunately never will.

1. In March of 2012 US Embassy in Tripoli Security Officer Eric Nordstrom requested extra security for the first time for the Benghazi Consolate and recieved no response. Three months later Nordstrom asks a second time, and still no response. Why didn’t your State Dept. send extra security to Benghazi when it was requested?

2. Don’t you think if security details were granted when they were first requested that maybe the Benghazi attack might never have happened and four Americans would still be alive?

3. Why after repeated requests for security did your State Dept and the Administration remove three six man security teams and a sixteen man elite special forces team from Libya?

4. Why did you purposely make the situation in Libya more dangerous by repeatedly denying requests for extra security?

5. With your lackluster performance in the Senate and your abysmal record as Secretary of State why do you think voters should trust you as President when your record clearly shows you are unfit to lead?

6. Have you personally spoke to the families and loved ones of the four men who were brutally murdered on your watch? And if so, when they questioned you on your inaction did you tell them, “What difference does it make!”

7. Why are you, the President, and the entire administration forbidding anyone with first hand knowledge of what really happened in Benghazi from testifying? What is it that you and the administration have to hide?

8. When you had a chance to label Boko Haram as a terrorist group during your failed stint as Secretary of State, you didn’t. Why then should the American people ever trust you with their national security?

9. Did you decide to do this interview because your book is not quite meeting the expectations you had hoped for?

10. You titled your book “Hard Choices”. Did you name it that because it will be a hard choice for voters to support you if you run in 2016? Or did you name it hard choices because that is what you were faced with as Secretary of State and failed to make?

These are the questions Hillary Clinton should have been asked. Once again, we allowed the left to dictate to us what we can ask them. If these questions were asked two things would have happened. The first and most predictable response would have been that Hillary would have walked out of the interview. This would have been great! She would been seen as the limp wristed, weak in the knees, pathetic leader that most people who pay attention know she is. It would have been devastating to her chances which are already slim to none in 2016.

The second best thing that could have happened was she got angry and lashed out on National Television! That would have been worth the price of admission! Either way, she would have been exposed.

If you want to beat the left you have to smack them in the face with an anvil of their own hypocrisy. Conservatives can’t fear these spineless, yellow bellied, talking serpents. They are so easy to defeat its pathetic. Liberals have about enough substance of microscopic pond scum. When you challenge a liberal with common sense and intelligent thought they fold up like a cheap suit and cry one or all of these three things: racism, discrimination, or victimization. Once you figure out their playbook they either cheat, steal, or forfeit the game. If you think these are the questions you would have liked ask please share this article with others. Maybe someone in the Media will act upon it; but don’t hold your breathe.

Vote Often and Vote Often!

California legislators have once again decided they know best. Instead of fixing our infrastructure, getting our debt under control, and making sure we weren’t the most welfare-friendly state in the union, they come up with another drug induced law called “CVRA,” the California voting rights act (signed into law in 2002). The law, in its simplest form (obviously crafted by the same people that wrote Obamacare,) says that because minorities seem to have a hard time getting elected in local races intervention is needed to make it an almost sure win.

The California legislators decided that because many cities and towns didn’t seem to reflect the demographics of the locals they needed to step in. Let me translate for you. Too many Republicans were winning seats in local elections and they needed to change that.

At this point, the law mostly ensures 2 things;
1.) Attorneys will get rich by simply writing a letter and forcing districts (that they have no real knowledge of) into district-based voting that doesn’t always work!, and
2.) That Chicago-style voting tactics are now legal in California.

In addition the CVRA proponents of the law also want election dates to be moved to the presidential election cycle. Why? Seems that a majority of Democrats can’t get off their butts to vote in primaries and local general elections. These are not my stats. This information comes from union sources and the California Secretary of State. The Dems have had control of both houses in California for many years, but local elections don’t always run on the state and federal election cycles and they’re having trouble getting people to come out to an additional vote. So instead of forcing people to be responsible citizens and rise to the occasion, they lower the bar.

Does anyone see a pattern here? No proof of citizenship. No proof of identity. What next? Will we send “non-citizens” around with ballots from door-to-door to collect votes? Seriously?

Let’s be clear. The CVRA is from that same “wise group” that has brought us so many bad bills. State laws courtesy of the loons up north, like:

AB131, the so-called Dream Act, which requires taxpayers to subsidize college costs for illegal immigrants even more than they do for some citizen students. My daughter, an American taxpaying citizen, can’t get the same rate if she moves back into the state. She would have to move to Mexico, renounce her American citizenship, become a Mexican citizen, and cross the border illegally in order to receive those subsidies! How much dope do you have to smoke to have that make sense?

Then there is AB506, a bill pushed by government employee unions to make it more difficult for municipalities to file for bankruptcy, and consequently more difficult to void costly contracts with public-employee unions. So even if the majority of the debt owed has to do with union-related dollars, the city can’t include union related items in a bankruptcy, and in some cases can’t even file. What part of “there is no money in the bucket” is not understood here?

Let’s get back to the CVRA.

There are over 75 cities in California, many with a majority of Democrat voters, that are run by elected Republicans. Democrats outnumber Republican voters by almost 2 to 1 in Los Angeles County alone and there are only 2 statewide seats held by Republicans. Yes Republicans hold close to half the 2,500 mayoral and city council seats in California, according to figures compiled by Grassroots Lab, a Sacramento research and political data firm. In the 2010 and 2012 federal election cycle, Republicans won more local seats than Democrats, and not just in rural or in traditionally conservative-leaning regions like the Central Valley.

Thought Police Recruiting !

I love receiving emails from people responding to issues posted on my website, both positive and negative. Some pieces are written by fellow hosts, bloggers and other writers, but all are issues worth discussing.

I recently posted one about the “birther” issue. There are still investigations as to President Obama’s birthplace. The only people who accept 100 percent that Obama is hiding nothing about his birth, his school years, and his true love for this country are the ones who think right-wing, Bible-believing, conservatives like me should not have the right to freedom of speech simply because we don’t think like them.

Yup. The “thought police” are out in force. One of these thought police actually posted on Facebook that I was racist, and the single, simple proof was that I questioned this president’s birthplace.

The logic of the left always astounds me. Would that same conclusion hold true if the president were white? The educated left doesn’t need dictionaries or thesauruses because words mean only what they want them to mean. Period.

The dictionary defines racism as: 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others; 2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination; 3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Is the poster saying that my questioning the president’s birthplace suggests I think I am superior to him? That’s a bit of a stretch. Or maybe the poster is saying that by my suggesting we talk about some new “facts” on the issue, it could expose that Obama may or may not be who he says he is, and might be my attempt (again) to show my superiority over his race? (Yes, that’s sarcasm.) Another stretch if you ask me.

And if all else fails, my posting the piece surely shows I hate or am intolerant of the black race, because if you haven’t noticed, the president is black, even though he works so hard to hide that fact. (Yes, more sarcasm.) And here I thought we were all part of the human race.

This is exactly how the left wins arguments, especially those in the herd who are weaker. Most people just want to live their lives, go to work, feed their families and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Old and treasured values of being an American. My grandfather, a Democrat, my dad, a Democrat, my uncle, a Democrat (he died a few years ago and has still been voting Democrat, I’m sure) – all had spirited conversations about politics and religion with people of many colors, origins, religions and political persuasions, but they never walked away from each other hating the thoughts of the other or feeling bad about what they discussed.

I grew up in the state that gave us Kennedy, Tip O’Neil, Dukakis and other famous libs.

Sunday morning church for most was coffee, a cigarette, the Boston Globe, and good, spirited political conversation. No words like bigot, racist or blank-a-phobe were part of the conversation. They treasured open, honest conversation.

Today the party, and many of the people of the “big tent” group, have spawned the PC and thought police.

Wanna start a fight? In my day, it was just looking at your foe and saying, “Hey. Your mamma wears Army boots.” The gloves were off and fists were flying, because those were fighting words.

Today, the enlightened left will call you a hater, ignorant, bigot, racist and a blank-a-phobe for saying things like, “The president has no foreign policy plan,” “The president has failed to protect our soldiers overseas,” “I don’t see what a man sees in another man,” “I get a little uneasy when I see a group of ‘Muslim’-looking men getting on a plane with me,” “Obamacare is a disaster” or “You need God.” Any one of these statements, and even less, could get you in a heap of trouble.

Yes, the thought police will jump all over you like “white on rice.” (Is that politically incorrect or insensitive? Whatever.) They have more and more volunteers on social media sites. Why? Because it doesn’t take any guts to fight and call someone names on social media. It’s easy, and they like easy. That’s why they are looking for volunteers.

Our Founding Fathers had heated and long, drawn-out debates over many issues in the formation of this country. Over the years, people on many political sides of the aisle have had deep and heated conversations over issues of the day. But the current level of attack by the left on all speech that isn’t “liberal speech” is ridiculous.

Hey, thought police. Get out your “tongue cuffs,” because you’re waking a sleeping giant. Many Christian conservatives are waking up and seeing how dangerous you people are. Yes, I said “you people.” The ones who think having a non-liberal vocabulary makes me a hater. You people who think every criticism of the president could only be because I’m a racist. (God forbid he might actually be capable of doing something wrong.)

You people who think that because some of us don’t want a runaway healthcare plan that takes care of people who are here illegally, mooching off the system, we must be racist. (Because only non-whites mooch the system? That just shows your true ignorance.)

You people who think that because some of us want the borders secure so we can actually get our economy and national security under control must mean I’m a racist because, obviously, I’m trying to keep Hispanics out. Not because drugs, guns, criminals and terrorists (from many countries) are crossing the border. Only American-loving Hispanics who want a better life for their families cross illegally, right? If you buy into that, I’ve got a bridge I want to sell you.

What Does Someone Have to Do to Get Fired Around Here?

When I was a kid, (yes, back when a tablet device was an Etch-a-Sketch) my Dad advised me to get a job with AT&T or Edison or the government. Why? Because they would be around forever and it’s nearly impossible to get fired, especially as a civil service or union member. Fast forward 30+ years later only to find out he was absolutely correct!

Take a look at the group of IRS individuals a few years back that spent millions of your tax dollars flying around checking out pricey resort-like places to have “business retreats.” Why can’t I have that job!

Then there was the $17,000 for a keynote speaker to teach them about customer service, how to speak with people and… wait, no, that’s not right. The keynote speaker was actually a painter of “unique pictures” like, Niagra falls, the Grand Canyon… no,wait, wrong again. He painted pictures of Michael Jordan, Bono, Albert Einstein, and Abraham Lincoln to name a few. Can you see where this would help a tax auditor? Me neither.

They spent $50,000 on video parodies of Star Trek and a total of $49 million over 2 years on “conferences.” A few years back at an IRS Anaheim conference over 2600 IRS employees were brought in to discuss small business and self-employed audit procedures. The cost? We don’t know because the agency that requires us to keep every receipt apparently was not tracking all the costs associated with these events until Representative Darrel Issa uncovered it. No scandal here. Just keep going. Not one person lost A job (the key word being “A”.)

You see, when you’re a loyalist to the party (and by that I mean the American Union of Socialist Democratic Communists) they simply move you laterally to a new division or department or send you home with pay until everyone goes back to sleep.

And then we have Benghazi. Where to start? The initial lie? The lack of support on the ground? The lack of backup support? The men and woman who were told they could not testify to congress? Our Secretary of State lied to us. Military officers lied to us. White House staff lied to us. And, as seen in recent emails received from the White House by court order (so much for the most transparent administration in history) no one has lost their job. NO ONE! Four men have lost their lives. Well, no big deal, right? Americans will forget and the Party will be saved.

Then there’s Fast and Furious. Lost Jobs = 0. Lost lives, “priceless.” I say that because the same government that wants to track the healthcare needs of millions and millions of Americans can’t track a few hundred guns. They can’t confess to the fact that it got out of control and Americans died because of it. They roll with “Bush lied, people died,” but nothing about the reality of those in this current administration that keep killing Americans.

Oh, and remember, these guys that want to watch over healthcare are watching over our precious veterans and other national concerns. They treat them the same way they treated Americans in Benghazi, American taxpaying landowners along the borders, and Hurricane Sandy victims. All hung out to dry. They knowingly allow our vets to die because of lack of treatment and we’re expected to trust our children’s healthcare to them? Fat chance! Still, no one fired!

The EPA, the guys who apparently have more power than the President of these American Union of Socialist Democratic Communists States formerly known as the United States, don’t even have to show up to get paid! According to a recent report:

Call a Spade, a Spade

As we all by now know, LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been fined and banned from basketball. It is clear he is a racist and very clear that the NBA did the right thing today.

Some are claiming that he has the First Amendment – freedom of speech – to back him. No, all the First Amendment does is allow him to say whatever he wants to say. It does not protect him from the consequences of what he has said. The NBA, the team owners are within their rights to rid themselves of him.

It seems that while it is easy to call Sterling a racist (because he is) – it seems that cultural differences make it harder for some to call a spade, a spade.

Unfortunately, some of black culture “allows” racism to exist within their own ranks. The “n word” while completely intolerable within the general culture is used with impunity within the black culture – degrading the human spirit within. Rap, hip hop, “urban” music is full of anti-women, violent, racist lyrics. Black families are hardly intact and the number of children without fathers should be considered an epidemic. Hardly anyone says a word (and if you do, you will be called a racist).

Another example of “cultural differences” allowing for wrongs to be ignored is within the Islamic community. On the whole, women within the Islamic community are considered second class citizens. Depending on the country, women are sometimes “allowed” to be educated, sometimes not. Saudi Arabia doesn’t allow women to drive cars or leave their home without a male relative to escort them. Where are the Women’s Rights groups protesting? Female genital mutilation – is not a “cultural difference”- it is wrong. Forcing young girls (even in western countries) to marry men 4-5 times their age is not a “cultural difference” – it is wrong. Islamists attacking a Christian girls school, kidnapping and selling the girls into slavery is wrong. Where are the self-proclaimed “feminists”? It’s hard to hear their protests when there are none. But no doubt if you take it upon yourself to complain – you will be called an Islamiphobe.

Call it what it is – a spade – a wrong. The NBA took exactly the correct steps to right the wrong of Donald Sterling… but let us not stop there. We need to face wrongs and call them out. Closing our eyes to “cultural differences” that are plainly abhorrent makes us complicit and culpable. We must not allow ourselves to be a part of it.

What Michelle Obama would’ve said in her graduation speech

We are so proud of all of you now that you have graduated with your high school diploma in Democratic studies. As you venture out into your Common Core initiated and recommended career choices always remember this. You didn’t build your futures, we did.

All you have to remember in life is to always feel guilty for any successes you might achieve and never turn down a helping hand from your loyal and loving government. We are here to help you. We are here to guide you throughout your entire life to the day you part the earth and go to the collective city in the sky.

Some of you will benefit from the hard work of the person sitting right next to you. So of you will be taking care of the person sitting right next to you. It is ok not to succeed. Striving to be your best is so 2007. Not everyone can be a provider some need to be receivers.

You see, Barack and I have always felt that welfare was put in place to replace jobs. Welfare was never supposed to be a temporary thing. Why would it be when you have all these strong, able bodied men and women who can and will work hard so that others don’t have to?

Remember kids, Capitalism is an evil rich man’s game. The rich didn’t get that way through hard work and dedication; oh no they got that way by exploiting and victimizing poor Black and Hispanic minorities. The rich don’t care about you, (even though they supply all of your jobs). They don’t deserve to keep their businesses or their profits.

So make sure when you go to work for one of these evil job creators that you use all of the skills you learned from kindergarten till now. Make sure you create a false injustice at work. Make sure you show up late and leave early. Make sure you find a way to eventually be fired. When that day comes you immediately use the race card that we gave you and use it to right the injustice. Contact the ACLU or Southern Poverty Law Center and tell them you were fired, not because of your lack of work ethic but instead because you were a victim. You were oppressed. You were not allowed to sleep at work or take your 2 hour mandated Union Breaks.

You see, the race card is your most powerful weapon. Use it often and use it wisely. The race card is how Barack and I became President. You see, we learned along time ago that victimization and claims of false oppression are the keys to getting ahead in America. We knew that our lackeys in the media would cover for us by calling out anyone who didn’t support or vote for us as racists. This is how we were able to paralyze White America with guilt and get them to help us fundamentally transform her in the process.

America is not a shining city on a hill. America is the land of injustice and greed. America is not the land of opportunity. America is the land of share responsibility. That is why we need you to talk to your parents and tell them they are wrong for creating wealth and prosperity. Tell them to sacrifice their futures and well being for the betterment of us all. And it is time for all of you to not fear government and instead embrace it. The only thing you have to lose is your freedom?

So please, grow up students and sign up for Obamacare. We need your healthy bodies to pay premiums so we can give illegal aliens free healthcare as an “act of love”.

Then once we guilt all the Washington Republicans into passing Amnesty by calling them anti-Hispanic racists our mission will be complete and so will Barack and I’s dream of destroying the greatest, most freest nation on earth.

And just think students you will be able to look back proudly knowing that you had a part in all of this! So, to all my new worker bees go out there, work hard for your government, and accept our helping handouts!

Over the Easter weekend, the City of Chicago experienced a rash of violence that eclipsed anything taking place on the battlefields of Afghanistan or in the uncivilized Taliban-held territories of Pakistan’s border region. 18 people were shot in several incidents, 13 of them dying from their wounds. This is nothing new to Chicago where for years the annual body-count has rivaled, if not exceeded, the casualties reported from war zones in which our military have been engaged. What is new is the political leadership in that city.

Those familiar with Chicago will take issue with that last statement, but the fact of the matter is this. It is true. While the City of Chicago has been staunchly Democrat for decades, its new mayor, Rahm Emanuel, former Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama, is a Progressive. Where the Daleys (both Richard J. and Richard M.) displayed a sincere love for the city, Mr. Emanuel, by all accounts, sees it as a stepping-stone to either the political throne of “king-maker” or executive branch national office…perhaps both.

I can say with confidence, having spent a majority of my lifetime in the nearby suburbs of Chicago, that the Daleys understood that the mean streets of Chicago were just that: mean streets. To that end, while they saw the value in efforts to address the social issues contributing to the modern urban culture of urban violence, they also knew full well that a strong, effective and empowered law enforcement community, coupled with a citizenry supportive of personal responsibility, was necessary to execute the most important role of any chief executive – local, state of federal: the protection of the innocent.

Progressives have, for decades now, fomented a culture of victimization. Everyone is a victim. Where non-Progressives see the innocents affected by those perpetrating violence-as-a-culture to be the victims, Progressives include the perpetrators of said violence as victims as well. Progressives see the people who load the gun, carry the gun and illegally shoot the gun – killing innocents, along with those complicit – as victims: victims of circumstance; victims of culture; victims of social and economic “injustice”; victims of society.

The Progressives’ answer to the modern day urban culture of violence is to create more community assistance, more community activities, and more community engagement. But while a fraction of those embracing the urban culture of violence would benefit from (or even engage in) the existence of these programs, the overwhelming number of those who embrace this culture not only know no other way, but see the lifestyle as glamorous, and who could blame them?

Black urban youth – and to a lesser extent but no less troubling, Latino, Asian and White urban youth – have come to see the urban culture of violence as a lifestyle “choice” (ironic that Progressives are all universally “pro-choice”). The urban youth culture is rife with violence; violence in its music, in its preferred art and entertainment, and in its counter-culture economic system. You can’t go a quarter-hour listening to an urban radio station without hearing lyrics about killing police officers or rival gang-bangers, or lyrics about women being treated like whores; to be used for sex, with those arguably degraded women being painted as accepting it willingly because, hey, it’s all about the money.

And when it all boils down to it, isn’t that the truth? In a culture where our education system is more worried about instilling a false sense of self-esteem (no one is a loser, everyone is a winner; everyone gets a trophy) than in cultivating critical thinking skills, complete with lessons on how to learn and then capitalize from failures, haven’t Progressives really trained an entire generation – if not two – to take the easy way out; that they are entitled to “the good life”; that it’s okay to transgress the law because it is the “victim” inside of you that moves you to do the unlawful? Using the victim-mentality Progressive mindset, who in their right mind would work a degrading minimum wage job for $7.25 an hour ($290 for a 40 hour week) when selling cocaine for a drug gang can garner that same person 10 times that amount in a night?

Mr. Emanuel took to the airwaves after the weekend’s carnage and expressed anger at the violence. That’s where he and I agree. I, too, am angry at the violence. He acknowledged that community engagement programs are necessary. To a certain extent I agree.

But he also sees the issue as one facilitated by the existence of guns. It is with this mentality that I disagree, and vehemently.

For some bizarre reason, Progressives, including Mr. Emanuel, think – and it really is bizarre – that outlawing weapons will somehow keep the criminals from illegally attaining weapons. The stupidity of that argument is stunning. If someone is going to break the law by murdering someone, why would a gun law restrain them from acquiring a weapon? Additionally, study after study after study, based on law enforcement data; prove beyond any doubt that crime – even urban crime – is reduced in areas where lawful concealed carry gun laws exist.

To express my argument more bluntly let’s do an experiment. Load a weapon and place it on the table. If you want to be daring, point the barrel of the weapon in your direction. Now, step back ten feet and command the weapon, “Shoot me!” I am going to bet the farm that nothing happens; that the weapon itself did not, of its own power, shoot you. This very basic experiment proves this thesis: Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

I will acquiesce to Progressives if they acquiesce to the rest of us (compromise is what the Framers intended for our system of government). I will sign on to community engagement programs for what they are worth in providing safe haven and deterrent to inner-city innocents and vulnerable youth, but only if Progressives cease with the stupidity of :

▪ instilling the falsely elevated self-esteem brainwashing they push in our schools;

▪ the ridiculous notion that inanimate objects kill people;

▪ their tacit support of the urban culture of violence as “cool”;

▪ their neutering of law enforcement’s capability to affect the carnage produced by violent gang crime before it occurs, and their ability to meet criminal force with overwhelming force in the name of serving the law-abiding public.

I would see this as a good trade-off, given the fact that employing this compromise has a better chance to immediately save lives in our urban areas than anything the Progressive victimization culture has ever come up with.

That said, I won’t hold my breath waiting for Mr. Emanuel and his brethren Progressives – including the race merchants among them – to announce their willingness to engage in something so common sense. Progressives, after all, know what’s best for all of us…always.

An Oligarchy and Not a Republic? No Kidding?

The Washington Times is reporting that a study by Princeton and Northwestern Universities has determined that the fundamental transformation of the United States of America has already taken place. We have transitioned from a Republic (as our Framers intended) to an oligarchy:

“America is no longer a democracy — never mind the democratic-republic envision by Founding Fathers. Rather, it’s taken a turn down elitist lane and become a country led by a small dominant class comprised of powerful members who exert total control over the general population — an oligarchy, said a new study jointly conducted by Princeton and Northwestern universities.

“One concluding finding in the study: The US government now represents the rich and powerful, not the average citizen, United Press International reported…

“Researchers then concluded that US policies are formed more by special interest groups, than by politicians properly representing the will of the general people, including the lower-income class, UPI said.”

Really? Who would ever have thought?! Oh, that’s right, we “whackoids” and “domestic terrorists” among us; those warning about the encroachment of dominant government into our private lives. We have been (first politely and now with a twinge of anger) voicing this ongoing event for quite a while, first as individuals and now in organized groups.

This is what happens when Progressives capture the message-crafting media. This is what happens when we pass amendments to the US Constitution that destroy the protections built in for the individual States. This is what happens when factions and big money special interest groups reign supreme in Washington, DC. This is what happens when the no- and low-information voters decide elections; our country’s well-being hanging in the balance.

Whether or not it is too late to change anything is a matter of debate. Personally, I am inclined to fight for the country and the capitalist economic system that literally created the first Middle Class ever to exist in the history of man.

To that end, there is an organization that has developed a solution – or at least the vehicle to achieve a solution – for the manipulation of the no- and low-information voters by the special interests and political opportunists currently transforming our Republic; the oligarchs, if you will.

Because they’re feeling acute pain monetarily, the sleeping giant that is “we the people” are waking up to the disparity and recognizing the incompetence of both political parties. It is at this point that Progressives and oligarchic elites intend to swoop in with an expansion of the entitlement state; the nanny state, where government advances to control even more of our lives than it already does.

The brilliance of the VoterFYI project comes in its ability to elevate the issues above the political parties and above the misinformation and deception of the terminal power-seekers. It allows each individual to formulate and refine their understanding of the issues, thus circumventing the Madison Avenue political rhetoric that only well-connected money can buy. Will The EPA Come After Beer Next?

The famous saying “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy” has been mis-attributed to Benjamin Franklin. But Plato DID say “He was a wise man who invented beer.” And Abraham Lincoln DID say “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.”

Yeah, so? Those sayings conjure up thoughts about that wonderful, flavorful (except for lite), world-wide brew, liquid bread that is BEER. And, yes, I’ve been known to tipple (but never a lite, which IMHO is just watered down beer). My motto is “Everything in moderation, even moderation.”

Why all this about beer? Well, beer is brewed, which requires fermentation. Again, so? Fermentation produces carbon dioxide (CO2). As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared in 2009, CO2 is a greenhouse gas, a “public danger,” and therefore must be controlled.

According to a preliminary endangerment finding published in April, EPA scientists fear that man-made carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are contributing to a warming of the global climate.

So, one can only surmise that the EPA will, after it gets through with cars, soon be after beer brewers. After all, the EPA wants to protect us from ALL sources of CO2. The EPA seems oblivious to the fact that ALL living animals expend CO2. Or that ALL plants use CO2 in the photosynthesis process. Or that plants convert CO2 into oxygen, an element we all need to live. Or that CO2 levels are increasing, but the global temperature is not increasing.

Consider this fact. The EPA, in 2009, while under Obama, concluded that the release of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases endangered human health and welfare. The administration used that finding to extend its regulatory reach beyond automobiles and develop national standards for large stationary sources. Breweries are not mobile, are stationary. What’s to stop the EPA from going after them?

After beer, then what?

And let’s not overlook the Supreme Court’s role in this drama. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the utilities industry, and 13 states (led by Texas) are asking the Supreme Court to rule that the EPA overstepped its authority by trying to regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the permitting program. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit concluded in 2012 that the EPA was “unambiguously correct” in using existing federal law to address global warming. So the Supreme Court is the next step. And it’s not looking too good, either. The “swing vote” belongs to very liberal Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Go ahead and laugh. But just remember that the EPA is currently looking at cows. And consider that the EPA is (under Obama) power-drunk. Our only hope is the fact that Obama is a beer drinker.

BTW, Franklin DID say “Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy.” Same sentiment, but wine ain’t beer. Either way, CO2 is involved.

But that’s just my opinion.
