Gary Earl Johnson was born January 1, 1953 in Minot, North Dakota to Lorraine and Earl Johnson. He was married to his college sweetheart, Denise, but they divorced in 2005. She died unexpectedly in late 2006, which was later determined to be due to heart disease. They have two children.
He is currently engaged to Kate Prusack, a Santa Fe Realtor. The two “met on a bike ride” and have been dating since 2008. Mr. Johnson proposed in 2009.

Has been called “the original Tea Party candidate” due to his stance and success on cutting taxes
Cut the 10% annual growth in New Mexico’s budget by using his veto power as governor on half of the bills his first six months in office.
Earned the nickname “Governor Veto” due to his frequent use of his veto power.
Set state and national records for vetoes- a total of 750 vetoes while in office- more than the other 49 contemporary governors combined
He cut taxes 14 times and never raised them.
Left office as Governor with New Mexico being one of only four states in the country with a balanced budget.
Reason Magazine described his accomplishments in a 2001 articles in the following words:
“no tax increases in six years, a major road building program, shifting Medicaid to managed care, constructing two new private prisons, canning 1,200 state employees, and vetoing a record number of bills.”
A New Mexico paper wrote of him:
“Johnson left the state fiscally solid,” and was “arguably the most popular governor of the decade . . . leaving the state with a $1 billion budget surplus.”
In regards to his numerous vetoes, with only two of the vetoes being overridden, Johnson is quoting as saying they [the vetoes]:
“stemmed from his philosophy of looking at all things for their cost-benefit ratio and his axe fell on Republicans as well as Democrats.”

This makes for an interesting twist now that they are political opponents, running for the very same office.
On The Issues
Socially Liberal Libertarian
Limited government philosophy
Supports marijuana decriminalization
Supports simplifying and lowering taxes
Supports balancing the federal budget immediately
Supports “slashing government spending“, including Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security
Supports passing a law allowing states to file bankruptcy
Encourages fathers’ participation in child-raising- would allow federal funds and state involvement in these initiatives
This quote regarding Gary Johnson “on the issues” is from 2001. I would like to know if he still stands by allowing federal funds to be used for these initiatives.
Strongly opposes a federal bailout for any state
Opposes National Sales Tax or VAT
Opposes the war in Afghanistan
Opposes the Libyan Civil War
Has been opposed to the Iraq war from the beginning and continues to call for American presence to end in that country
Medicare and Medicaid
His plan would cut these two programs by 43% by turning them into block grant programs, giving control of the spending to the states. He says by doing this we will create “fifty laboratories of innovation”.

February 2011- Was a featured speaker at the Republican Liberty Caucus
May 5, 2011- Participated in the first GOP Presidential Debate for 2012
There is much to be said about first impressions. Before this first debate I had no idea who Gary Johnson was. Sadly, my first impression of him was not that good. If you read the article that I wrote the night of the debate you will see by the end of the night things were not as bad as in the beginning. After profiling him for this article there are a lot of things I like about Mr. Johnson. However, to quote the article above:
“Gary Johnson’s stance on this issue absolutely, without a doubt lost my vote if he had not already, when he discussed his pro-choice views. No thank you, Mr. Johnson! No thank you!”
This is one thing I cannot compromise on. If you have read any of my articles regarding mine and my husband’s journey to have a family you will understand why this is an absolute for me. I cannot and will not budge on this issue- ever! Life begins at conception. I cannot vote for someone who believes a woman has a right to choose whether or not she carries life or kills life.
John Davis, Jr. and his wife of 30 years have six children and four grandchildren. He and his family have lived in Grand Junction, Colorado for six generations. He describes himself as” a common man, a hard-working person pursuing all things good in this incredible country.”

Man who loves America
Man who is dedicated to his family, to God, to his community and to his country
Man of of integrity
Man of vision

Does He Have What It Takes To Be President?
In his words, yes, he does!
“I care about where this country is headed, and want to do something about it. I don’t think government is or should be so far away that it is virtually unattainable for the average person. We have let others handle our government, but there is a time for Americans to stand up and that time is now.”
What color should he be? I know the answer to this one. It’s the great American color: red, white and blue.
From John Davis’ official website:
Honor Accountability Integrity Common Sense Loyalty Truth Passion Servanthood
Mr. Davis says he is a soldier- not in a soldier fighting in a war, but a citizen fighting for the future of America. He says he feels that this nation is at odds with itself and we must revive America. He says he has much gratitude for the freedoms we have in this nation that people in other countries do not have.
Mr. Davis recognizes as most of us do that our current leadership is doing everything they can to diminish America’s greatness and freedom. He believes that we must hold our government and leaders to higher standards.
On The Issues
Mr. Davis presents his view of the issues in a “Contract To America”, stating
1. Balanced Budget
2. Term Limits
3. Upholding The Constitution of The United States
4. Common Sense Leadership
5. Less government
6. Our borders are not being protected! Border control/Work Visas/Citizenship for law abiding aliens
Mr. Davis recognizes that government spending is out of control and that there is no fiscal accountability. He wants to bring honor and integrity back to leadership where it is slipping away fast, and in many cases is already gone.
As a businessman himself, he sees that one of the mainstays of this country- our freedom of owning and running an honest, successsful business- is disappearing due to huge regulations and fees on businesses. With government salaries being twice what they are in the private sector he sees first hands the effects of this.
As a Christian he recognizes that our values and freedoms are being persecuted rather than preserved.
On The Constitution
John Davis sees how our current President has total disregard for The Constitution of The United States of America– our governing document- and pushes through bills tith no regard for many elected officials and going completely against the will of the majority of We The People.
He sees how the judges around this nation are legislating from the bench, using their personal thoughts, feelings and opinions rather than our Constitution to make their decisions.
Quoting from Mr. Davis’ website about what he sees the danger of this country being:
The danger is in the people giving up on their country and leaving their future to others, and giving up surrendering their common sense and good judgment because they think their voices can’t be heard. Feeling marginalized and unable to participate in the democratic process is detrimental to America’s success. Our country has survived many faulty leaders, but we cannot continue to go to the voting booth and check the box for the lesser of the two evils.
Quotes About John Davis From People Who Know Him
“John has very strong morals.”
“A man I can put my trust in.”
“John is strongly conservative, moral, religious, honest, a strong man and is clean in his life-style.”
“He is a very hard worker, not just working hard, but working smart with a can-do attitude.”
“He is stubborn and bull-headed enough to do what is right and yet, he is also a very caring person.”
On The Campaign Trail
Mr. Davis plans to visit EVERY SINGLE county in the United States-a total of 3,200 counties- on the campaign trail

1988- Married her high school boyfriend, Todd Palin. They have five children: Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. They also have one grandchild- Tripp, who is Bristol’s son.
Sarah Palin’s family has been harassed endlessly by the liberal media, pundit, and any other number of wanna-be’s. I am a firm believer that any candidate who throws their hat into the ring for any political race should be prepared for endless scrutiny, I believe the children of the candidate should be COMPLETELY OFF LIMITS! In the event that the child is a minor I believe it should be a crime to attack them personally.
The Palin family- one and all- are true patriots for what they have had to endure in the spotlight! If Sarah does indeed throw her hat into the ring for the 2012 Presidential race I know that the personal attacks against all family members will only increase.
Though Sarah Palin herself never served in the military, her son Track enlisted in the US Army in 2007
Private Sector Career
TV Sportscaster in Anchorage Alaska
Currently a Fox News contributor
1992- Joined the Wasilla, Alaska City Council
1996 to 2002- Served as the Wasilla, Alaska city mayor
2006- Elected as Alaska’s first female governor after running a campaign based on ethics and clean government
2008- Became the Republican Party’s first female vice president candidate
2009- Resigned from her position as Alaska’s governor
There has been much controversy within the Republican Party as to whether or not Sarah Palin “made a mistake” by stepping down from her position as Alaska’s governor. There are equally good arguments on both sides.
While I am a firm believer in finishing a job that a person starts, I also believe the situation of Sarah Palin contains some extenuating circumstances that many people are just not aware of. I read her book, “Going Rogue”, and she made a point in the book that everyone who criticizes her decision to step down should think about. She said that she was already spending so much of her time as governor combating the completely false legal and ethics issues filed against her that she saw it as a waste of tax payer dollars to continue in the job. She knew that this would be a continuous battle until her last day in office. It was not only costing the Alaskan taxpayers money by taking her time away from the real issues of Alaska, but it also took money away from the state budget to fight these false accusations.
There have been those who have said she made the decision all for monetary gain…. she could not make the money as Governor that she could in the private sector by selling books, being a Fox News contributor, and the various speaking engagements she has. I will give a small amount of credence to this argument. This is true- as governor, she would not have the opportunity to make the amount of money she makes now. However, while I do not know Sarah Palin personally, I recognize the spirit of the “Mama Grizzly”, as she puts it- the term that she has made so well-known among Conservatives.
I am very proud to say that I too consider myself a “Mama Grizzly”! There comes a certain point in life where we all have to look at things from a more realistic point of view. That is one thing that I absolutely LOVE about Sarah Palin- she is realistic. Is she perfect? Absolutely not! However, she looks at things realistically!
I do not personally see her as a “quitter” because she stepped down from her position as Governor of Alaska. In fact, I admire her. She could have sat back and “played the political games and system” that so many of our politicians do today. She chose to be pro-active, rather than reactive in the attacks being taken against her. Yes, there are many who will disagree, and say that she reacted by “allowing the left to get to her”. This is where we will just have to agree to disagree.
I believe it takes a bigger person- man or woman- to step back when they are not able to get things accomplished for the common good. It was quite obvious to her- and should be quite obvious to other people- that she was never going to be able to devote her time and attention to the task before her- her job as Governor of Alaska- with the continual lawsuits and attacks against her by the left. I have the utmost respect for Sarah Palin in making this decision in 2009.
Quoting her SarahPAC website, Sarah
“…believes America’s best days are ahead. Our country, founded on conservative principles and the fight for freedom, must confront the challenges of the 21st century with integrity, innovation, and determination.”
On The Issues
Supports Tax Reform
Supports a free market system
Supports government reform
Drill Baby Drill! This is a “tag-line” of Sarah’s that has caught on with much of America in reference to drilling for oil in America.
Energy Independence for America (obviously!)

On The Republican Party
Quoting from the SarahPac website
“… believes the Republican Party is at the threshold of an historic renaissance that will build a better future for all. Health care, education, and reform of government are among our key goals.”
I “mostly” agree with this, in theory, if, and ONLY IF the Republican Party returns to her roots and core values. I am seeing very little hope in the “established” Republican Party that makes me think the Republican Party actually “gets it”! I pray with every fiber of my being that the party is indeed on the threshold of this historic renaissance that Sarah speaks of. If not, the Tea Party will be sure to help them along, I’m sure!

The Reality Show
Sarah Palin’s Alaska (2010)
I am not a fan of reality shows. The few I do watch are based on real-life careers of people, not a bunch of strangers thrown together and put in romantic situations or cut-throat survival situations. I watched “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” reality show and was fascinated by many aspects of the show. Once again I saw a real woman, with real-life family issues living every day life. While Sarah Palin and her family were the official “stars” of the reality show I consider ALASKA to have been the REAL star of the show!
This great nation consists of millions of unique landscapes, scenery, communities, occupations and people. I would love to see a “reality show” on each one of the fifty United States. Maybe find someone well-known from each state to “star” in the show. We have a wealth of history, information and beauty encompassed in these individual states. This would be a great way to enrich our country- capitalize on the “in-thing” of the time- reality shows- and use it for something good.
I commend Sarah Palin for participating in this reality show. Yes, I am sure there were things along the way that were “staged”… but isn’t ALL TV? Even the “news” is staged! To have been able to see the beauty that God created in Alaska was a privilege! One day I hope to make it there for a visit!

What a difference the choice of wording makes!
On September 14, at Ground Zero, President George W. Bush declared:
“I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people — and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”
Simple words from the heart and soul of a man who was tireless in his fight against terrorism. These words struck a chord so deep within me and inspired me so much that this quote is now framed and hanging on the wall in my home office.
While I did not agree with everything that President Bush did in office it was not hard to see that he was committed to take whatever action necessary to make sure the perpetrators of the most heinous act of terror on American soil were punished. In the midst of the most horrific terror and most overwhelming sorrow our nation has ever faced in modern history, I saw resolve in our nation’s leader.
It is most unfortunate that the same cannot be said for the current administration.
Words are no longer simple and from the heart and soul, they are instead pretentious, flowery, calculated and pre-determined at an attempt to “soften the blow” of the reality we face as a nation. This administration fails to realize that calling a lion an overgrown cat doesn’t change the ability for destruction that a lion is instilled with.
In 2009, in her first testimony to Congress, newly appointed Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano sought to diminish the steadfast determination of this nation’s military men and women who were and still are sacrificing their time, blood, sweat, tears and very lives to bring justice that Americans so rightly deserve for the terrorist attacks against us. During her testimony she couldn’t bring herself to breathe the “t” word, opting instead to rename the attack and others like them to “man caused disasters”. I guess it just sounded “cuter to her! When asked by the German news site Spiegel Online if Islamic terrorism “suddenly no longer posed a threat” to America, she stated that this administration wanted to move away from the “politics of fear”, opting instead to “be prepared for all risks” that can occur.
It appears as though she missed the mark on that one! This administration is not at all prepared for any risk that comes along! Investing in the stock market is more risky now than it was in the previous administration. In today’s housing market, it is quite risky to buy a house. And one of the biggest risks Americans take today is driving up to the gas pump! The price of gas is rising at a rate of overwhelming proportions! Personally, I would never have called any of these situations terrorism, but it does most definitely resonate with Ms. Napolitano’s newly defined terminology. President Obama and his administration are most certainly causing an abundance of disasters. But isn’t this just running headlong back into the “politics of fear”? They would probably do better if they chose to call it more along the lines of “politics of conspiracy.”
President Bush was very clear that we would make no distinction between the terrorist themselves and the countries and leaders who harbored them. Not so with President Obama, because there is no longer a “War On Terror”, it is now downgraded to an “Overseas Contingency Operation.” What does that even mean?
According to the definition given at dictionary.com, this is the last term in the world that would give me confidence that we have things under control.
dependence on chance or on the fulfillment of a condition; uncertainty.
Thesaurus.com gives synonyms for “contingency” as: accident, crisis, crossroads, emergency, event, if it’s cool, incident, juncture, likelihood, occasion, odds, opportunity, pass, pinch, predicament, probability, strait, turning point, uncertainty, zero hour
Plus there are a few more listed.
So, I could essentially rename President Obama’s Operation as “Across The Ocean If It’s Cool Operation”.
Or how about “Transmarine Crossroads Operation”?
Hmmm…. We could go with “On The Other Side Of The Very Large Body Of Water Uncertainty Operation”. No… none of those combination of flowery words seem to give me true confidence that yes, we will take whatever means necessary to see this to an end!The latest member of Obama’s administration to try his hand at flowery rhetoric is Eric Holder. Testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, when asked if enhanced interrogation methods were used in obtaining information that led to the eventual killing of Osama bin Laden, Mr. Holder simply could not bring himself to affirm that yes, our country succeeded in killing the mastermind behind the most horrific terrorist attack on our land! In true fashion that is this administration, he said, there was a “mosaic of sources that led to the identification of people who led” our military to Osama bin Laden. He said that assuming enhanced interrogation methods were used is hypothetical. OK, if you say so, Mr. Holder! Come on now, let’s be real! I guess this is what he had to say, because the sensibilities of the left just cannot handle the truth in this matter! And my goodness! What if Muslims found out that we indeed used some form of enhanced persuasion on these enemy combatants!? They might just retaliate…. or something! But wait! We can no longer call them “enemy combatants” ! Let’s instead call them “Bad Person Contenders”. Or we could even say a “patchwork” of things led us to identify the “Revolutionary Serviceman”? Yes! Much better! That will work indeed! It’s all good. Just look it all up at thesaurus.com!
And finally, in an effort to make everyone feel better about events in history, I guess we will now have to reprint all the previous books that use that horribly offensive word “War”. Hitler was bad enough! We don’t want to have to utter that horribly offense “W” word! So now we will just call it “World Kinetic Military Action 2”. And we really must use the written number rather than the Roman Numeral to keep things from appearing so barbaric! Oh hey, look! Now it makes it seem almost like a movie sequel- right? Things weren’t so bad after all!
See now? Changing the words to “tone down” the harsh reality makes you feel allllll better now… right??!!
It appears that we have hit a new low in America. I just read an article via The Blaze that says according to the search engine results over the last couple of days, teenagers do not know who Osama Bin Laden is. I wish I could say this surprises me, but it doesn’t.
I remember in the months before the 2010 mid-term elections there was a “man on the street” style interview with different people and the majority of them interviewed had no idea who anyone in politics was, outside of Barack Obama. There were even people who didn’t know who Joe Biden was.
However, you show them a picture of “The Situation”, and oh my goodness! They knew immediately who he was! In fact, if I remember correctly, one woman even talked about how “hot” he is.
Ironically, I had not a clue who “The Situation” is before that segment! I had to look it up and when I found out he is a reality show star I was appalled!
The reality of the situation in this country is very disturbing.
So the question comes down to this: Who do we have to blame?
The answer to this question is wide and varied, I’m sure.
Obviously, education starts at home. Unfortunately, too many parents see the TV as their babysitter, so from a very young age our children are sat in front of an electronic box spewing mostly garbage. And our children are soaking it up like a sponge!
As they get older they are usually allowed to watch things that children have no business watching. They are being educated alright, but they are being educated about things they shouldn’t know until much later. And though they may be watching TV, or being on the internet as they get a bit older, the thought of checking out the news is foreign to them.
Then there is the education system. They are too busy teaching our children about Earth Day, being “green”, that capitalism is “evil”, new math which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and all the other various junk that they have no time for actual education of facts. Therefore, discussing news and world events that are actually relevant are ignored, all the while they shovel in the propaganda that is now classified as “news” but simply serves to further the leftist agenda.
And then there is our current administration. While I must say President Obama gave the best speech of his entire presidency Sunday night, he speaks out of both sides of his mouth. In January of 2009, President Obama said that it was “no longer necessary to kill Osama Bin Laden”. To his credit, he did say at that time that it would be his preference to “capture or kill him”, but it was no longer “necessary”.
Add in the fact that our President refuses to acknowledge that these are terrorists with ties to the Muslim religion, and up until very recently refused to even say it is terrorism, choosing rather to make it all sweet and mushy by renaming it “man-made disasters”. It is no wonder why most of this younger generation coming up has no clue what is going on and why killing Osama Bin Laden is news worthy all over the world!
The ever famous quote by poet and philosopher George Santayana should be a lesson to us. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
America, we have allowed our schools to be taken over by the leftist agenda. We have allowed a box to teach our children right from wrong, and the boxes right is more often than not our wrong! If this news story does not wake us up then I don’t know what will. What can we expect? We’ve become so complacent as a nation!
It has been not quite ten years ago that the attack of September 11 happened. Yes, in respect to capturing and killing the man who orchestrated these attacks, 10 years is a very long time for him to be free. However, ten years is nothing in the scope of history. If our kids do not know current history, how in the world do we expect them to know the history of this great nation?
We are indeed doomed to repeat our past if we do not take this seriously immediately and make the necessary changes to prevent this from happening! While there are many bright and beautiful things in our nation’s past, there are also some very dark times as well. Unfortunately, it appears as though we will more than likely repeat the darkest part of our past if things don’t make some drastic changes fast!
America, it’s time to wake up! I don’t know how many more warnings we are going to get!
“God Bless America! Land that I love!”
Just a warning to anyone who reads this. Prepare yourself for sudden outbursts of song!
No, this is not a musical, and just a warning- I do not have a beautiful singing voice at all! So, close your ears if you don’t want to hear my grateful voice of celebration!
Tonight is a good night in America! Americans all over the country are dancing in the streets celebrating the good news! We’ve waited so long for this good news! Ten long years!
It is my hope and prayer that this will unite us once again. If only for “one moment in time!”
Usually I do not celebrate the death of someone. However, Osama Bin Laden-
“I bet it felt like the WHOLE WIDE WORLD WAS raining down on youuuu! Brought to you, courtesy of the RED, WHITE & BLUE!!!”
Ahhhhh, yes! Justice has indeed been served! That is, if the news we are hearing is correct! Yes, unfortunately, I have my doubts. As I’ve written about before, I don’t trust any of our politicians. I will not apologize for my skepticism- they’ve all brought it on themselves!
God forgive me if it is wrong, but I do hope that it is true. This man was nothing but pure evil incarnate. I will never forget “when the world stopped turning on that September day”.
My heart sings, yet at the same time weeps for the families and friends of those who lost their lives almost 10 years ago. Ten long years. Finally they have some semblance of justice.
“And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.”
Tonight, I thank God Almighty for the blessings of living in America- Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. I dedicate this article to all of the military men and women throughout history who have given their life, their blood, their sweat and their tears so that I might be free! You always do your duty, no matter what it cost you. You and your families and friends make sacrifices. You count the cost and know what you are sacrificing. I pray that you do not die… but if you do, may God rest your soul. No, freedom don’t come free, and indeed, you all bear that cross with honor. Please know that you are greatly appreciated, forever loved and completely cherished. Though I have not personally served, I have many family members and friends who have fought beside you. Thank you, and God bless you all! Tonight, America dances in the streets to honor you! Please be extra careful out there! Just because Osama is <most likely> dead does not mean this war is over. In fact, in many ways it is just beginning! May God Almighty keep each of you safe in the shadow of His wings! (Psalm 91)
“And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh and I don’t want to die for you, but if dyin’s asked of me
I’ll bear that cross with honor, cause freedom don’t come free.
I’m an American Soldier an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters, I will proudly take a stand
When liberty’s in jeopardy, I will always do what’s right
I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight

It is with great pleasure that I dedicate this article to my Dad. I ask you to indulge me for just a moment as I give you some “behind-the-scene” information before I address the title issue of this article, the National Debt.
For many years, my Dad and I had a strained relationship. Over the years we have determined that there were two main factors that contributed to this:
1. I am like him in many different ways, yet it seemed as though we had very little in common;
2. As is typical with many fathers and daughters, he did not want to let me grow up, and I was anxious to grow up.
When I was about 34-years-old, there finally came a point in time where I sat him down for what I called a “come to Jesus meeting”. This meeting was the best thing that has ever happened in our relationship. I was very respectful to him, but told him he had to accept the fact that I was a grown woman, a wife, and a mother with my own thoughts and ways of doing things. I told him I never expected that he would agree with everything I did, thought or said, however, if we were ever going to have any semblance of a healthy relationship he was going to have to respect me as an adult, not just his daughter.
My Dad did not realize that he was making me feel this way in our relationship, and I am very grateful that he was receptive to what I had to say. One of my biggest regrets is that I did not have this talk with him many years before. We wasted many years of a very good relationship because I avoided having that difficult discussion with him.
I thought I had addressed the issues with him, and made my feelings known to him, but obviously I had not. Was it that I had an attitude with him that, “I’m a grown woman, you can’t tell me what to do”? Possibly. And that statement is true. However, looking back, I think I probably went about it in the wrong way. I had quite an attitude with him, trying to prove that I was an adult.
Before this conversation my dad and I would get into arguments frequently. I felt like I was walking on eggshells because I never knew what was going to set off the tinderbox between us. Because of this, phone conversations with him were very limited, and focused mainly on surface issues.
Now, my dad and I talk on the phone almost every single day, if not 2, 3, or 4 times a day. We talk about anything and everything. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING is off limits when it comes to our conversations now. Things that I thought I would never be able to talk to my dad about we now have lengthy conversations on those topics.
One of the topics we talk about frequently is politics. This is unusual, in and of itself, because as I have mentioned in previous articles, I absolutely detest politics! I know, I know… very strange, since I am now writing for a Conservative Political news site.
I believe he enjoys the fact that this is actually something we can talk about a great deal more than I do, because he sees that I am taking an active interest in what is going on in this country and trying to do something to change it. This is also one of my greatest regrets- that previously I was like so many other people out there who could care less when it comes to politics. Because this attitude is so prevalent, we now have elected officials who have not been held accountable and feel they are the elite and should be able to make the rules for all of us “commoners”.
In discussing what is going on with our nation, one topic that is almost a daily part of our agenda is the National Debt.
He told me a couple of weeks ago that he has had enough of these politicians not listening to those who elect them, so he was going to write a letter to them to just lay the facts on the table. He told me he wanted me to help him get the letter out to every single member of Congress, and of course, I agreed. I am going to do something I absolutely hate, now- I am going to be “politically correct”. My dad is what we call “technologically challenged”.
He and my mom are actually visiting us this week, and he actually had the computer in front of him doing research! I was so proud of him! We have vowed to bring him into the 21st Century if it’s the last thing we do! But since we have not accomplished that goal with him, I am going to use the remainder of my article to post his “Common Sense Approach to the National Debt” here in my column. These are not my ideas, they are his. These are not my words, they are his. But with one very small exception, I agree a million percent with him!
THE NATIONAL DEBT CRISIS
Personal – You have a budget. You don’t spend more than you bring home or disaster!!!!!!
Locals, States and Federal Government need to do the same.
As to the Debt Commission Suggestions: Social Security recipients have paid their “Debt to Society”. Government officials need to live accordingly. We have not received Cost of Living Adjustments for the last 3 years but government officials have had salaries, budgets, and etc. raised.
*SSI needs to be trimmed deeply. Most of the people on this program could be retrained for a job that they could do, taken off the payment rolls.
*”Crazy Check” recipients need to be taken off the system. This part of the program is nothing but a joke!
*Welfare recipients should be drug tested and if they test positive then taken off the Welfare Rolls and they lose their checks.
Welfare recipients should do work in Environmental Services (cleaning offices, streets, parks, etc.) or child care for those that have children (which is most of them), therefore they are doing something for society to receive the money; food stamps, housing, etc. This would give them more incentive to get out and find a better job. The way it is now they are able to do whatever they want all day and depend on taxpayers to support them. A woman should not be allowed to have more than 2 children on welfare before having the option to sterilization or any other children would be paid for by them including birth; medical; food; WIC, etc. this from birth to age of 18. A baby under the age of 1 year should not be allowed Food Stamps if they are on the WIC Program. WIC provides everything that it would need for nutrition.
*Unemployment recipients only receive unemployment checks up to 6 months. This has been the standard in the past, and has worked, there is no reason to pay people to sit home, all the while they are turning down jobs because the job “does not pay as much as unemployment.”
Taxpayer money should be used for defense and government operations ONLY– NOT for: Grants; subsides; studies; projects groups; bailouts; unions; pensions, etc.
Our taxpaying money should stay in the United States and not giving foreign aid to almost every country in the world, since most of the countries don’t help us and some take our money then protest against us. We give aid to other countries for drilling when our drilling program is neglected.
*Redesign the Tax System:
Do away with the current tax system and tax 10% across the board – Welfare Recipients to government officials and tax corporations 15%.
*Do away with several government departments (i.e.; Education – our young people are not getting quality education due to modern education (math), etc., Political correctness, etc. Labor Department – Cost of Living adjustments don’t consider food and energy, so what does the taxpayer should survive on? Also, unemployment figures do not consider people not working but are off the unemployment rolls. These are very important factors but yet this Department does not consider these important, so we do not need the Department of Labor. These are just 2 examples of government departments not needed. All of the other departments and agencies need to meet the strict criteria’s, also.
*Do away with Obama’s: Czars, Commissions, etc.
*Limit Obama’s budget as to travel, etc. However if the mileage tax is made law then Obama could pay off the National Debt since he never spends any complete days at the White House.
The term “Tax the Rich” should never be spoken because: Tim Geithner; Charlie Rangel; Jeff Immelt; Jesse Jackson; Al Sharpton; Reverend Wright; Louis Farrakhan; Black Panthers; AARP; ACLU and Labor Unions have proved that the government tax people (IRS) do not go after the “big guys.”
*Do away with Obama Care since this was a very illegal transaction and was highly misrepresented; elected officials did not read before passing, etc., which is their JOB! Mortgage Foreclosures had to redo their procedures, so should not Obama Care have to the same?
*Do away with the Congressional Budget Office since they cannot be objective with figures (they are supposed to be neutral but have proven several times lately that the CBO is very tainted).
*Tax Payers Rights – not: ACLU; Labor Unions; Foreign Countries, etc. The ACLU, Labor Unions and other groups should not “trump” the average taxpayer of the United States. These groups have caused the United States to go from #1 in many fields of opportunity down toward the bottom of even some of the 3rd World countries. If these groups think they are needed in the United States then why don’t they go to the 3rd World countries and reform them. These groups should leave us taxpayers alone and go overseas with their idiotic ideas.
P. S. I personally challenge the Federal Government to try these mentioned measures and then tell me that I am wrong.
The points my Dad made are just basic, common sense. He is not college educated. He is life educated! Real world experience allows you to fail, which gives you the opportunity to pick yourself back up, allowing for success. It’s quite obvious that common sense is non-existent in Washington and State governments, or you would have seen these common sense, basic concepts implemented years ago!
I believe a lot could be accomplished if the things my Dad took a common sense approach to in his notes above were to be implemented in addressing our National Budget crisis. As my Dad stated in the beginning of his notes, in our personal budgets we do not spend more than we bring home or we have disaster! This is one of the first, basic lessons my parents taught me. I am very grateful that they did, because for me, this is just the way things are done.
If this concept would have been implemented in our National Budget, things would most certainly be different today. We have proof of this in the housing market. Many people signed papers to purchase a house that was way out of their price range, and now they cannot afford it. A very good friend of mine was pre-approved for a mortgage almost twice what they were comfortable paying. They planned their budget out, knew what they were comfortable paying, and were quite shocked to find out how much they were pre-approved for. Thankfully, they had common sense and did not get into a house that was way more than they could afford.
I also believe a lot could be learned from mine and my Dad’s relationship. If I had sat down with him years ago and addressed him matter-of-factly, with respect, rather than with a “know-it-all” attitude, maybe he would have realized how he was making me feel. On his part, it would have been a bit more difficult to sit down and address things, because this is one area where we clashed. But if he could have approached things with me from an adult approach rather than a Father-Daughter approach, I believe we could have “nipped things in the bud”, as Barney Fife used to say, a lot quicker! However, as a Mom I see how that could be quite difficult, especially if your child is not approaching things from a mature, respectful point of view. By both of us being stubborn in each of our approaches, rather than building on our relationship, we were both actively pushing each other further away.
Just one side-note, where his notes are concerned. The one small area I disagree with him on is where he says that a woman should be limited to just 2 children receiving benefits on welfare. You may be surprised to know that I believe that there should be a limit of 1 child on welfare. If you have another child when you are on welfare, you do not qualify for further assistance. If you are following my articles in the Broken System: Foster Care section on this website, you will start to see in my news few articles why I say this. Am I being heartless? When it comes to the irresponsibility of so-called parents, yes, I am heartless! These countless innocent children are the ones that are paying the price for the adults irresponsibility! Someone, somewhere, somehow, someway HAS to stand up for these children! It’s called tough love! My parents had to apply tough love to me when they were raising me- and even as a young adult- and at the risk of sounding conceited, I believe I turned out quite well!
We’ve all gotten them. Some of us get them every day. Some of us are the culprits of sending them. The forwarded emails.
There are many beautiful stories and quotes passed around the internet that have truly touched my heart over the years. Many of these stories I have received more times than I can recall. There are many silly forwarded emails, some funny forwarded emails, quite a few thought provoking emails, and the occasional quite annoying forwarded emails. The ones I hate the most are the “chain letter” type that says if I truly love Jesus I will forward the email to 12 of my friends, and if I don’t forward the email then I am denying Christ. I believe that it takes a lot more to deny Christ than not forwarding an email. But that’s just me.
However, there are the rare forwarded emails that I have actually never seen that touch my heart to the very core of my being. This is the case when I received a forwarded video a couple of months ago.
When I opened up the video link in the email I heard the most beautiful voice singing “The Star Spangled Banner”. It was actually an audition to sing the National Anthem at the opening of the Houston Astros game. The voice stopped me in my tracks. Her voice was astounding, bringing up deep emotions inside of me as I heard the lyrics of the sacred anthem of One Nation Under God.
The voice I heard that day belonged to a 15-year-old Texas native, Mary Sarah. I was so moved by it that I became a culprit, and forwarded it to many of my friends, insisting that they had to listen to this young lady’s voice! And then I went searching to find her on my favorite social network, Twitter.
If you have not heard of Mary Sarah, you are missing out on an angelic voice! At just 15-years-old, I have no doubt Mary Sarah will be taking the country music world by storm!
Mary Sarah is no stranger to the music scene. At the age of 8-years-old she was singing in church. She has performed on many country radio stations; she has performed at many charity events; she has performed at many Opry Theaters around the state of Texas; she has received national recognition and awards for her songwriting talent; and, to top off all of these accomplishments, she has shared the stage with names such as the legendary Oak Ridge Boys.
By the age of 12 Mary Sarah was touring the country as a lead vocalist and dancer in Kidz Bop, a Razor & Tie Records and Vee Corporation production, produced by Michael Anderson in Los Angeles. The production has resulted in 7 Gold albums with “kid friendly” covers of hit songs.
She has performed to audiences of 4-6,000 kids at a time, which has helped develop her stage performances, as well as helped her to gain national and global recognition.
After completing the Kidz Bop tour, Mary Sarah returned home to Texas where she continues to perform at various events.
Music is not all that defines Mary Sarah. She is a young lady who has a strong faith, loves her family, and has a passion to work with various charities. The charity that is most dear to her heart is The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Mary Sarah’s brother, Chris, has Juvenile Diabetes. This past fall she performed the National Anthem at the opening of The Walk to Cure Diabetes in Houston. In an interview at the event, she told the Houston Post, “I want to be a voice for those who need one.” This quote has given me a higher respect for Mary Sarah than even her beautiful voice. It strikes a common thread for me, personally, because I too want to be the “voice for the voiceless”.
If you are in the Houston area, you may want to see if “OPRY on the Square- Country Now and Then” is playing in the Sugarland Square. Mary Sarah will be hosting 4 shows during the 2011 season. If you like country music, this is a little Texas lady you do not want to miss out on hearing and seeing!
I have absolutely no doubt that Mary Sarah is going to have a successful career in the music business. Her love for traditional and modern country music, along with having the opportunity to write with such greats as Nashville songwriters, Tony Mary and Karen Staley, are sure to assure her a strong foundation for a successful career.
Mary Sarah’s audition video that I originally saw paid off! She sang the National Anthem on opening day for the Houston Astros on April 10, 2011!
To paraphrase the National Anthem, which Mary Sarah so proudly and beautifully sings, I proudly hail Mary Sarah! If you are a country music fan I am just about willing to bet you will be a Mary Sarah fan!
“The speech he chose to deliver was dishonest even by modern political standards”.
It is pretty much a “given” that politicians cannot be trusted. However, for a major news source to go on record with the quote above I would have to say that Obama pretty much takes the cake in the deceit category!
I literally get sick to my stomach when Obama comes on TV. Oh, laugh if you will- I am not exaggerating! One thing that I absolutely detest is a liar! I know from personal experience how it can- and will- destroy a person!
When he makes what has become almost a daily appearance on TV I cannot get to the remote fast enough to change the channel! By the way- a little side note/question- what is up with this narcissistic man? He’s on TV more than the paid news anchors that are supposedly reporting the news!
All too often, before I can get to the remote to get his smug face off of my TV, I am subjected to his lies. It has gotten to the point that his voice literally makes me cringe! So it is in these moments that I have to vent my frustration- my mouth flies open, and I cannot help but yell out at the TV- “You LIE!” Over time, it’s become, “Liar, liar pants on fire!”
When I saw this article today in The Wall Street Journal I started laughing. No, not a hysterical, funny laugh…. But instead, a sad, disturbed laugh.
What is the point? Do they honestly believe the lies they spew? Not just Obama, but all of these politicians? And the next question- the most important question- why do so many still believe anything that comes out of Washington?
I looked up the term “Liar, liar pants on fire” in the event that I needed to give credit to someone. While it is a well-known saying, I wanted to see if there was a “behind the saying story” that would hit the nail on the head, so to speak, in my thoughts.
There is no dispute where the paraphrase comes from- a poem, which was written in 1810 titled “The Liar” by William Blake.
What I found is quite amusing- again, not in a funny way, but in a sad and disturbing way. It’s funny how something written 200 years ago can be so fitting today!
I am not going to quote the entire thing, but you if you like to read it, you can find it here.
“What red devil of mendacity
Grips your soul with such tenacity?”
“What internal serpent
Has lent you his forked tongue?
From what pit of foul deceit
Are all these whoppers sprung?
I am sure you have heard the rumblings and questions of, “Could Obama possibly be the Antichrist?” While I do not personally believe that he is the Antichrist, I have to say reading these lines from the poem really made me stop and think for a second or two. Without a doubt I believe there is a quality of evil that surrounds him. Now, I know- there will be leftists who will attack me on this. So be it. It is what it is. I cannot change the way I perceive something. His actions are all the proof I need!
From the very beginning of him stepping onto the scene I have sensed something about him. There are many pictures of him that just look plain evil! I am a firm believer that the eyes are the window to the soul. I believe who you truly are is reflected in the depths- or shallowness- of your eyes.
There are a few pictures of Obama that have given me the most eerie feeling. It’s as if there is nothing but darkness behind his eyes- the window to Obama’s soul.
Satan is the Father of Lies (John 8:44). Anyone who is entangled in the sin of lying is following Satan. So for those of you who want to cast stones at me- I will make no apologies. The Bible is my reference for everything in life. So I speak not only of President Obama, but of any and all people who speak lies. Lies are from the pits of hell!
Interesting that this poem that was written 200 years ago speaks of liars having a devil gripping their soul [there we go again with the soul]; it speaks of the internal serpent with a forked tongue from the pits of deceit; and the final explanation of a deceiver. Very interesting indeed, when you look at the parallels between this poem and President Obama!
While I disbelieve almost everything from our elected officials in Washington- Democrats and Republicans alike- I do most assuredly believe that President Obama takes the cake! I find it very interesting that now, The Wall Street Journal, one of the most respected newspapers in print, is coming out and publicly saying it.
At the very bottom of the source I quoted above for the origin of the saying, “Liar, liar, pants on fire”, it says that it is recommended that the phrase be shouted when someone has said something with insufficient truth value. Without a doubt this applies to President Obama! I cannot think of a single thing that has come out of his mouth that I actually believe! So it is with great anger and sadness that I shout, “Mr. Obama- Liar, liar, pants on fire!!!!!”
With a noteworthy source such as The Wall Street Journal shining the light of truth on the enormity of the lies coming out of President Obama’s mouth- the article even stated that his speech was “toxic”- I wonder how long it is going to take for the main stream media to wake up! Oh, wait a minute! Never mind. I know that will never happen! They have bought into his lies and believe the great illusion that is now the President of The United States of America! God help us all! Seriously, God- please help us all! You truly are the ONLY Hope we have! The toxicity of this man is unparalleled in the history of this great nation! He is bent on destroying all that we represent and stand for as a nation! Barack Obama’s words truly are vile, destructive… and yes, toxic!

Today, I learned the hard way how easy it is to get caught up in something that you would want no part of. Thankfully I learned the full story before it was too late.
I am a mother of 5 with kids ranging from 3 to 9 years old and they attend public school- for now!
We have considered private school, but with four children already in school and another one that will be in school in 2 years, the cost of private school is just not a possible choice for us.
This has been an ongoing struggle of mine and my husband’s since our first child entered the public school system. We have contemplated home-schooling, and at one point we were very close to pulling them out of public school mid-year to make that a reality.
We also have considered charter schools. I became aware of the charter school option last year and began researching them. Unfortunately, I still had a lot of unanswered questions by the time school enrolled for this current year so we chose to keep them at their current school.
As the year has progressed we have had several situations come up that have once again left us knowing that we have to make some changes soon.
My husband and I have been praying desperately about what to do. Up until this point neither of us has received a clear answer to our prayers.
Since we are not involved in a church we want to make sure our children have a social outlet. If we do end up homeschooling I know that I will become a part of a homeschooling group so they can have social interaction with kids their own age.
In the midst of our frustration and continuous prayer- just two weeks ago- an “answer to prayer” presented itself through the mail. We received a mail-out about a charter school opening in our area. We read the literature and checked things out online. It seemed to be a very promising possibility! I filled out the online registration form for each of my school age children. We then left it all in God’s hands.
On Saturday I received a call inviting us to the open house which is for tonight. I accepted the invitation with much excitement and immediately called my husband, who was out running an errand. Things most certainly looked as though God was providing us an answer to our desperate prayers!
Now, let me back up just a bit for a couple of side-notes.
We have friends who enrolled their kids in a charter school right after the start of this school year. They, too, have had nothing but issue after issue with the public school system. If it was not one thing with one child, it was another thing with another child. She finally had enough, pulled her kids out of public school and immediately enrolled them into this charter school. She insisted that I should check this school out for my kids, knowing the ongoing issues and frustrations we are having as well.
The more questions I asked the more reservations I had. The principal of the school is Turkish. The school teaches the Turkish language as a foreign language. The school participates in the yearly Turkish Festival in Houston.
She and her previous husband were stationed in Turkey with the military several years ago, so she was very excited about this. Though I could give no concrete reason why, there was something that just did not set well with me after hearing all this information. No, I am not in any way racist against the Turkish people. It just seemed a bit odd to me that a charter school would be so focused on one specific nationality. If it is about teaching diversity they are most certainly lacking in accomplishing that goal!
Just last week I happened to see a news article stating that the FBI was investigating US Charter Schools with Turkish links. I read the article and thought to myself, “Yep! I knew there was a reason why I was uncomfortable with that specific Charter School!”
I have not thought much about it since reading the article. I vaguely remember thinking that I wanted to tell my husband about it, because we both had reservations with the school our friends enrolled their kids in. As is normal with life, things got busy and it completely slipped my mind to discuss the article with him.
So, here we are back to today. The kids come home from school and I immediately start the shower line. With this many kids shower time has to be planned out.
All of the kids are showered and dressed and are working on homework. We are just waiting for the hands of the clock to tick away so we can leave for Open House. I’ve glanced at the clock a few times, hoping and praying that my husband can be home in time to go with us.
My telephone rings. It is my husband. Before I answer the phone I have a passing thought, “Don’t tell me he is going to be longer than is expected! I want him to go with us tonight!” I answer the phone, and his first words to me were, “We may have to rethink what we are going to do.” I asked him what he was referring to and he tells me that he’s been doing some deeper research into the Charter School after seeing the news article regarding the FBI Investigation. I slapped my forehead, frustrated because I have forgotten to tell him about it!
We began discussing the article and his further research, and it seems as though the new Charter School where we have an appointment is directly tied in with the organization that is being investigated by the FBI! He said he did not want to completely dismiss the idea, because in his research he saw a lot of conflicting reports. Some parents were not happy with the organization, many were extremely happy with it.
We decided that we would still go to check everything out but we would make no commitments until we processed everything, talked about it, and of course prayed about it, above all.
We ended our conversation so he could finish up what he was doing to head home.
As I began tidying up the counter, I picked up the weekly newspaper. My intention was to sort through the coupons, as is my weekly routine, browse quickly through the actual newspaper, and throw everything away that I don’t need. When I opened the newspaper up my heart literally began to race!
Right there on the front page was an article about the new school opening up! No, it was not an article exposing the school as one of the Turkish connected schools that is being investigated- it was simply an article about the ribbon cutting ceremony which is coming up this Friday and the fact that they are seeking more students. Near the end of the article it named the organization they were funded by- as well as funds from the taxpayers of the state of Texas!
I immediately went to the internet and did a quick search on the name of the organization- the Cosmos Foundation and here is what I found.
As I read the article at the above link discusses how there is a huge mystery surrounding the foundation, and the fact that when interviewing the superintendant of Harmony Schools more questions arose than were actually answered. The administrator being interviewed adamantly denied that neither the schools nor the organization have any ties with Fethullah Gulen or his movement which has long-term goal to create a “universal caliphate”.
It article also stated that there is “evidence that the Turkish administrators of Harmony are operating under the Islamic principle of taqiyya or “holy deception.” The administrators for this school system/organization have no problem LYING about who they are and who they are connected with! And yet we are supposed to believe him when he says there is no connection to the radical Gulen?
I am trying to teach my children to tell the TRUTH NO MATTER WHAT, and the administrators of the school I was considering sending them to have no problem with deception if it is defined by their beliefs as “holy” and fits their purpose! I am sure the “tolerant leftists” would urge me not to jump to conclusions! To these people I ask, “What in the world would make me believe they would actually tell me THE TRUTH!?”
Before I finished the article I called my husband back to tell him our plans for the evening had changed, that after seeing the article in the newspaper and doing further investigating there is no way on God’s green earth that I am going to expose my children to this!
Now, I am sure there are people that will read this and call me a racist, a bigot, a right-wing nut, a conspiracy theorist or any other derogatory term that is so often hurled around by the “tolerant leftists”. That is fine- call me what you will! However, last time I check, The United States of America is still a free country- at least at this time! I have a choice on where my children go to school, whether it is public school, private school, a charter school or home school. If you choose to send your child to a charter school that is part of an organization that is being investigated by the FBI then that is your choice! I will not try to change your mind. You are free to make your choice, leave my choice for my children up to me!
I already have to counter-teach the secular humanism they are being taught in public school! Given the choice I would much rather have to teach against secular humanism than the strong possibility of having to teach against a religion that teaches that “god” instructs you to kill those who do not believe as you do and that it is ok to lie if it is a “holy lie”!
As a believer in Christ Jesus I know what The Bible teaches. John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” If Islam/Muslims teach that you should kill those who do not believe as you do this is proof in and of itself that it is a religion straight from the thief- Satan- and the very pits of hell! My Jesus came that all that believe in Him will have life- eternal life- to the fullest! Given the choice I cannot imagine how anyone would actually choose to believe in something that seeks to steal, kill and destroy rather than give life abundant. However, millions of people still choose to believe the lies of this religion.
Now, for those who would choose to attack me by saying that not all Muslims are radical, and in fact, most Muslims are very peace loving people who do not believe in killing infidels, then I say that is fine. This is a free country and they have a choice to believe as they choose. I will not try to change their mind or pressure them or persuade them that my beliefs are right. That is not my job. Yes, I pray for these people, because again, The Bible is very clear that Jesus Christ is the ONLY Way, the ONLY Truth, and the ONLY Life. No one… NO ONE- comes to The Father- God- except through Him- The Son. (John 14:6) But I know that there is nothing within my power to change someone’s beliefs. That is left to God and the person themselves, whether they choose to have an open mind and heart.
In the very depths of my heart I feel that we averted a crisis tonight. If we had moved our kids from public school to this charter school that is directly connected with the schools that are being investigated by the FBI I believe with every fiber of my being that we would have been jumping out of the frying pan into the fire. Yes, we still have another crisis of sorts to deal with. We know that public school is not the answer for our children. We know that we must make some very difficult decisions very soon. For now, our prayers and our search continue. We have reached a point where we know we have to make a change in our children’s education.
Parents, BEWARE! In your frustration with the state of our public school system I warn you to not allow desperation to take over. I believed that this was possibly an answer to our fervent prayers for a solution in our frustration with the public school system. Sometimes what we perceive as an answer from God very well could be from Satan.
One thing that I learned in my searching is that the taxpayers of Texas pay $41 million a year to this organization to run these charter schools. I also learned that Texas Congressman Randy Neugebauer- a Republican- supports these schools, and former President George W. Bush invited students from the Academy to The White House. And now the FBI is investigating them because these schools appear to be breeding grounds to accomplish Gulen’s goal of a universal caliphate!? Yet another reason why I do not trust a single one of our elected officials!
“I think he’s trying his heart out. I love him to death!”
This quote came from someone that I would have least expected it to come from, especially about the person that was being discussed.
The once legendary country music star Garth Brooks is the person who said these words. The person he spoke so highly of is President Barack Obama. When I heard this very recent interview, you could have knocked me over with a feather, I was so shocked! It appears as though Mr. Brooks “fully” supports the President.
I am sure many people reading this may wonder why I am so surprised that a celebrity would be so enamored with the President. Throughout the campaign most of Hollywood has stumbled over themselves to make sure the world knew of their undying love for him.
However, most country music stars are more Conservative in their political views. Yes, I did say most country music stars, because I do realize that there are some who have been in country music who are far from Conservative. Oh, let me think- one group that comes to mind is The Dixie Chicks. I do find it interesting that with the exception of a couple of compilation albums of the “Greatest Hits” re-released, the Dixie Chicks have pretty much fallen off the face of the earth. Could it be because most country music fans tend to be more Conservative in their views, and when Natalie Mains went on her condemning rant of President George W. Bush many of their fans refused to support them any longer?
Now, I must admit, as a lady who absolutely loves country music, I was a Garth Brooks fan for many years. Notice I said was a Garth Brooks fan! I find his past behavior a bit neurotic- retiring, coming out of retirement, releases an album with an alias identity, going back into retirement, and now evidently he is back out of retirement and doing shows in Las Vegas. Maybe there is a reason for all of his confusion and indecisiveness.
It seems that maybe his confusion was caused by something none of us could have ever imagined. It appears to have been a very well-kept secret up until this point. But it appears as though the true object of his deep, soulful crooning from the very depths of his heart have been finally revealed. Strangely, it’s actually all beginning to make sense now!
Garth Brooks loves President Obama- to death! Wow! That is a very deep and soulful admission, Mr. Brooks!
While I supported President George W. Bush in a lot of his policies, there were many I did not. One thing I do love about President Bush- I never once doubted his love for this country and his commitment to keep her safe. Did I always agree with everything he did and every decision he made? Absolutely not! And I most certainly have never said, “I love him to death!”
So, in thinking about this latest interview with Mr. Brooks, I really began to think long and hard about some of his song lyrics! The song that comes to mind that seems to speak the true feelings of Garth Brooks’ heart is his seventh Number 1 hit “Shameless”, which was on his album Ropin’ The Wind. The song itself was released on September 10, 2001.
Things are starting to actually make a lot of sense now! Billy Joel is actually the one who wrote the lyrics of “Shameless”. And it has been no secret at all that Billy Joel is a very strong supporter of Barack Obama!
Barack Obama graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991. He then returned to Chicago, where that same year, he accepted a two-year teaching position as Visiting Law and Government Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School.
One can only assume, now that Garth Brooks’ true feelings for Mr. Obama have been revealed, that maybe the fateful crossing of their paths happened when Garth Brooks was touring around the country giving concerts and promoting his albums to sell out crowds. Who would’ve known?! The name Barack Obama was not known to many people at all, outside of his circle of questionable friends.
So, in light of this recent interview, the lyrics of the song “Shameless” most definitely shed new light to the situation.
“Well I’m shameless when it comes to loving you”
Garth Brooks most certainly showed no shame at all in his love and support of President Obama. While many of those who previously supported him in his campaign have recently come out to say they no longer support him, Garth Brooks says he “loves him to death!” I certainly do not hear any shame in his words or voice with that statement!
“And I’m standing here for all the world to see”
Garth Brooks most certainly stood for all the world to see his undying love for the President that many have referred to as “the worst President in the history of this nation”. It most certainly makes you wonder about the judgment of a man who “fully supports” a President who has made countless poor decisions- or, should I say indecisions in his still ongoing presidency.
“And I’m changing, swore I’d never compromise”
Garth Brooks… or is it Chris Gaines... certainly knows a lot about changing! He’s retiring. He’s not retiring. He is no longer Garth Brooks. He’s Chris Gaines. Oh, wait! No! He is Garth Brooks! But, now Garth Brooks is retiring. Again. Oh, but wait! Now Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement yet again and now taking his show to Vegas!
“I’ve never had so much to lose
Oh, I’m shameless.”
Well, Mr. Brooks, you do have a lot of fans to lose! I can assure you that most country music fans are hard-working, tax-paying citizens of a country they love! They are watching a man who calls himself the leader of the free world do nothing but work to put this nation into bondage and slavery! And you “fully support him”? You “love him to death”? You may be shameless, but I am most assuredly ashamed of you! You had an opportunity to be the voice of your fans and let the President know that he is destroying the working men and women of this nation! Unemployment is unsightly! He places a moratorium on our off-shore drilling, thereby taking away even more jobs; yet, he goes to Brazil and does everything he can to boost their off-shore drilling! Yes, Mr. Brooks, I am deeply ashamed of you, and for you!
“You know it should be easy for a man who’s strong
To say he’s sorry or admit when he’s wrong “
Mr. Brooks, will you admit that you are wrong in this? I highly doubt it! How unfortunate! Maybe your next career should be politics! You will fit right in with the elitism, hypocrisy and butt-kissing! Because it will surprise me if you are able to sell enough tickets in Vegas to say you even have a career after your shameful statements!
“Oh, I’m shameless, shameless as a man can be
You make a total fool of me
I just wanted to you to know.”
No… Mr. Obama did not make a fool of you, Mr. Brooks. YOU did that all by yourself! I hope it was worth just wanting to let him know so all the world could see!
Yes, Mr. Garth Brooks… you are indeed shameless! To quote another song that was not written by you, but one that you ended many of your concerts with…..
“A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.”
I will try to smile when I remember the Garth Brooks I knew and loved once before… a long, long time ago. Your music did most certainly make me smile! Now, it will only make me sad to wonder if you ever believed in the people who supported you and your music career- the hard-working American people! Because if you truly believed in us you would know for certain that we do not fully support the decisions of Barack Obama! He is destroying this nation and everything she stands for! Your “words of undying love and encouragement” only spur him on more! Thanks for nothing!
“But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died.
So bye-bye, Ms. American Pie…”
Yes, something has touched me deep inside- deep down inside my heart that aches for this nation! She is becoming a mere shadow of what I grew up knowing and loving! When I heard you “stand for all the world to see” how much you supported the man who has called the God-fearing citizens of this country his enemies I am ashamed to say I ever supported you!
Bye, bye, Ms. American Pie! This country as we have known is disappearing! And bye, bye, Garth Brooks! I can no longer support you! You have sold me out, as well as the rest of my fellow citizens who are fighting so diligently for this country we love so dearly! Every day we are standing up and exposing the atrocities from our government- from both sides! You are doing nothing but selling us down the river! You have gained your fame and fortune on the backs of the hard working American citizens who bought your albums and bought very expensive concert tickets to see you perform! I wonder if you will still be shameless when this is all said and done!
While traveling through Monroe, MI we drove by an old Battlefield and pulled over. We decided to have lunch there and began to read the historical markers.
The River Raisin Battlefield was the site of one of the largest engagements during the War of eighteen-twelve. The battle on January twenty-second, and the massacre on January twenty-third, in the year eighteen-thirteen, was fought in Monroe, Michigan (formerly Frenchtown, Michigan) on the northern shore of the River Raisin. Of the nine-hundred thirty-four Americans who fought here, only thirty-three escaped death or capture.
The massacre of wounded soldiers shocked and enraged Americans throughout the Old Northwest Territory and “Remember The Raisin” became the battle cry for the War of Eighteen-twelve.
Interestingly enough, I was born in a city wherein Americans lost a major battle. Over there they cry -“Remember the Alamo”. Fifteen-hundred Mexican soldiers against approximately two hundred Texians. Survivors – two. Each man who surrendered – (less than ten altogether) – was killed.
From their website: “People worldwide continue to remember the Alamo as a heroic struggle against impossible odds — a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason, the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty.”
When I went to the Alamo – they let my tour group into a room, where the women and children were hidden during the battle. I could almost hear the weeping echoing off of the stone walls. I could almost feel the fear vibrating in the atmosphere. They allowed us to walk through the areas where men gave their lives – and I could feel the holy hush reverberate through my senses.
When we went to the River Raisin Battlefield that day, tears welled up in my eyes. I swallowed them down and looked at the grounds where men lay dying – I came very close to cancelling the picnic and leaving, but the children were so excited….So I took them to an area where I could only hope the earth was free from sorrow. There is just something in the air when you go to a place like that.
Why do we forget these things? Men died for our freedom’s preservation. Men died to make a place in this world for their young ones. Men and women are dying now for freedom.
So much is at stake right now in our country. Everything men and women sacrificed for is now forgotten – International law is becoming more and more acceptable here – and it has no place here. America is DIFFERENT. That is why thousands flock to this place yearly.
Freedom is costly, my precious American brothers and sisters. Do you really think you can live your life with your focus on your workday, your movie-night schedule, and your love-life, and that Liberty – sweet beloved Liberty – is going to continue while you ignore it? It won’t. There are forces of evil trying to take it every day of your life – laws and bills are being passed that are removing your rights one at a time…
It does not matter how old you are.
If you are ignorant in this era of free information, it is willful and it is shameful.
We must look up and away from ourselves.
If we don’t, our self-centeredness will be our ruin.
Do we have the right to choose who we live with?
It’s a valid question, now that the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan is attacking an unnamed woman for seeking a Christian roommate. The 31-year-old, who is single, posted the advertisement at her church last July.
“Christian roommate wanted,” she wrote, and included her contact information. Seems harmless enough, right? What churchgoer could possibly find such an ad to be offensive? And what government agency could possibly take such a complaint seriously?
The case is in the hands of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, and the woman could be required to pay hefty fines and take what FHCWM Executive Director Nancy Haynes describes as “fair housing training.”
The FHCWM argues that the woman’s advertisement “expresses an illegal preference for a Christian roommate, thus excluding people of other faiths,” thereby violating Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act. More commonly referred to as the Fair Housing Act, it prohibits illegal housing discrimination, including discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, familial status, national origin, and disability status.
One of the problems with the FHCWM’s argument—and there are many—is that the Fair Housing Act does not negate the rights recognized by the First Amendment, including freedom of speech and the free exercise of religion. It is entirely natural for an unmarried Christian woman to want to live with someone who shares her beliefs about right and wrong, and making that preference known—on a church bulletin board, of all places—does not constitute discrimination.
Would it have been better for the woman to mislead would-be roommates into believing that they would be welcome regardless of religious affiliation? Of course not. She did the right thing by making her preference known, so that non-Christians wouldn’t waste their time. And, again, the advertisement was posted in a church, not a newspaper.
Clearly, the provisions of the Fair Housing Act are not aimed at people who are seeking roommates. Every individual has the right to choose who shares their living space, and no federal or state law can legitimately force them to “integrate,” a term which appears on the FHCWM’s website with unusual frequency.
This story brings with it an opportunity to debate the proper relationship between civil rights and property rights. Would-be tenants and roommates do not have a right to live on a certain property, but the owner of the property does have a natural right to decide that they may or may not, for any reason. Civil rights activists might cry foul at this point, arguing that housing discrimination is unfair, and they would be correct. Discrimination is unfair, and so is life, but government exists only to protect our God-given rights to life, liberty, and property—not to make life fair.
If the Michigan Department of Civil Rights has any sense, it will throw the case out, and issue a stern warning to the Fair Housing Center of West Michigan to stop wasting its time with agenda-based assaults on Christians, and get back to investigating real cases of illegal housing discrimination. Unless, of course, it wants to become involved in a costly, complicated court case.
