Can we bridge the partisan divide?

The group Bipartisan Policy wants to bridge the partisan divide.

This is from the Bipartisan Policy Group About Statement:

Too often partisanship poisons our national dialogue. Unfortunately, respectful discourse across party lines has become the exception – not the norm.

To confront this challenge, the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) was formed to develop and promote solutions that would attract the public support and political momentum to achieve real progress. The BPC acts as an incubator for policy efforts that engage top political figures, advocates, academics and business leaders in the art of principled compromise. In addition to advancing specific proposals, the BPC also is broadcasting a different type of policy discourse that seeks to unite the constructive center in the pursuit of common goals.

Being at the point we are at, in this nation’s history, do you think it is possible to bridge the partisan divide, or do you think we have gone too far? Is the divide now to wide? Or is there hope?

Memorial Day Hike For Heros

Today is Memorial Day, 2014. So much of what this Day was set aside for has been lost in the hustle and bustle of American life. So many of us now take for granted what this day is truly set aside for.

Memorial Day is a day set aside for Americans to remember all the men and women who have died while serving our country in the military.

Memorial Day, which was formerly known as Decoration Day, “originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.”

While there are so many who do not really know why this day is a special day in our nation’s history, there are still many who have not forgotten what this day is all about.

On Saturday, May 24, 2014, Boy Scout Troop 217 and joined with VFW Post 9299 in Alvarado, Texas, partnered together for a 25 mile hike honoring our fallen heroes.

The Marines Team finished first in the Hike, 20 minutes ahead of everyone else, and 50 minutes ahead of the last group.

Proceeds from the hike went to benefit The Fisher House.

Below are photos taken during the hike.

May God bless all who have lost their lives so that we may have freedom!

The Real Story Of Noah

THIS IS NOT THE RUSSELL CROWE FILM!

In the time of Noah, people were going about their daily lives, not mindful of the impending destruction. Like them, are we ignoring warnings of God’s coming judgment? The Bible gives us clear signs of the last days. Did you know the Scriptures say we will see:

• Flippant use of God’s name
• Money-hungry preachers and rampant hypocrisy in the church
• Wars and rumors of wars
• Denial of a global flood

But surely no educated person could believe that Noah and his ark ever really existed. Wouldn’t it be impossible to fit millions of species of animals into one boat? And what evidence is there (if any) for a worldwide catastrophic flood? However…what if it did all happen exactly as the Bible says? What would that mean? Who was Noah, and why is the amazing account of his life so relevant to you in the 21st century? Don’t be caught unaware. Time may be very short. Will you be ready?

May God bless you, sir! Thank you for your service! We, as a nation- and as a world- are forever in your debt! Many may have forgotten, but there are also many of us who have not forgotten the great service of you and your fellow Navajo patriots!
