Atheist bullies force school to cancel graduation

Atheist bullies force school to cancel graduation

The godless extremists in the Freedom From Religion Foundation are notoriously unsatisfied with the extent to which faith has already been relegated in our society.
While deep red states have effectively removed God from any and all public forums, the FFRF often ventures into more traditional states to coerce them to do the same.
One of the group’s most recent targets is the Riverside School District in Arkansas – specifically, a sixth-grade graduation event that typically features a prayer involving students.
Superintendent Tommy Knight said he and the school board decided to cancel the ceremony at a recent meeting, which included a number of upset parents in attendance.
Kelly Adams, one such concerned parent, said she thinks “there were a lot of people hurt that our rights were taken away.”
The atheist group claimed to be representing an unidentified individual who complained about the prayer, though an affiliated attorney wrote it “makes no difference how many families want prayer or wouldn’t be offended by prayer at their graduation ceremony.”
The left often reads the Constitution only partially – and out of context – to support their own ideology. Atheist groups are among the loudest and most frequent offenders as they seek to distort the opinions of our founders and subsequent courts in their mission to erase any vestige of God from the American landscape.
Disappointing an entire sixth-grade class is nothing in the pursuit of their solitary goal.

Young student suspended for pointing pencil

Young student suspended for pointing pencil

The absurd “zero tolerance” gun policies held by so many school districts following the tragic shooting rampage at Sandy Hook continue to target perfectly normal child behavior.
While playing with a fellow student recently, one Virginia elementary student was suspended based on just such administrative overreaction.
Christopher Marshall, a seven-year-old student at Driver Elementary School in Virginia, held a pencil in a manner similar to a gun and was promptly and seriously disciplined as a result.
According to his father, the student said he “was being a Marine and the other guy was being a bad guy.” It is worth noting his father, Paul, is a former Marine.
Despite the fact young boys have pretended to wield weapons during harmless play from time immemorial, Marshall’s teacher asked him to stop and, according to his suspension papers, he complied.
He was suspended nonetheless and a district spokesperson stood by the decision.
Bethanne Bradshaw expressed her belief that a “pencil is a weapon when it is pointed at someone in a threatening way and gun noises are made.”
Today’s children are incapable of taking part in traditional playtime activities, she contended.
“Kids don’t think about Cowboys and Indians anymore,” she asserted, “they think about drive-by shootings and murders and everything they see on television every day.”
Bradshaw projects her own irrationality onto the students of her district and is attempting to erase any evidence guns even exist.
Children should receive age-appropriate information concerning guns and violence, though I feel the overwhelming majority of that education should come from parents able to choose how and when to address the subject.
Punishing an exemplary student for brandishing a pencil with absolutely no intent of causing any actual harm only does a disservice to all involved.
In the end, zero tolerance leaves room for zero common sense.

Toy maker issues apology for playful sticker

Apologies abound in today’s society as hypersensitive leftists continually find sources of outrage in the most innocuous places. Incapable of simply withstanding the slightest offense, they inevitably demand contrition and the targeted individual or group usually surrenders in an effort to avoid reputational damage.
Ubiquitous toy manufacturer LEGO is among the latest to feel the wrath of political correctness as it relates to a sticker found in some of its product packages.
The sticker, featuring the likeness of the construction worker piece found certain sets of building blocks, also included the phrase, “Hey Babe!”
One father was incensed by the supposed message contained in the sticker, alleging the company “normalized street harassment and cat-calling.”
Josh Stearnes took to the Internet, as upset consumers are wont to do, and before long his photographs and commentary began circulating through cyberspace.
One company spokesperson sent Stearnes an apologetic email explaining the sticker was an attempt at humor, which LEGO has long included in its product designs.
“Clearly, a lot of people didn’t see the humor here,” Stearnes replied, obviously unsatisfied with the response. He continued pressing the issue through additional correspondences and ultimately received a response from another company executive who assured him “we would not approve such a product again.”
Though I don’t endorse misogyny or any form of sexual harassment, I firmly believe this nation has become far too thin-skinned and the next generation is not benefiting from our culture of victimization. Far from crass, this sticker is only objectionable to those seeking something against which to object.
Children’s lives have become so sanitized in this nation that it’s no wonder they either rebel to the point of excess, completely fail at an independent life upon reaching adulthood or, in too many cases, both.

Religious gesture leads to team’s disqualification

After completing a winning relay and looking forward to competing in state championships, a Texas high school track team has been disqualified for a benign gesture by one of the participants.
When runner Derrick Hayes pointed toward the sky after completing the team’s fastest race of the year, the school district decided to ban the team from further competition for a purported rule violation.

Robert O’Connor, the district’s superintendent, explained rules dictate no participant can engage in celebratory acts, including raised hands.

Hayes’ father said his son was just acknowledging God’s role in the successful run.

He is among a number of other individuals who are actively disputing the ruling, though there is no indication state officials will overturn the decision.

“You cross a finish line and you’ve accomplished a goal and within seconds it’s gone,” said the elder Hayes, wondering “what does that tell them about the rest of their lives? You’re going to do what’s right, work extra hard, and have it ripped away from you?”

Though O’Connor doesn’t see Hayes’ display as “technically a terrible scenario,” he said “the action did violate the context of the rule.”

Many oppose the disqualification on religious freedom grounds, though I contend this incident also highlights another unfortunate trend in today’s society.

Removing any sign of celebration from a victory sends precisely the wrong message to the next generation – though from a leftist standpoint, it makes perfect sense.

While good sportsmanship should always be expected, there should be a reward for hard work and these students deserve a bit of self-congratulation. Instead, the progressive agenda calls for all participants to be treated equally, despite effort or achievement.

As we’ve seen in countless other aspects of life, this practice only serves to disincentivize success, lowering the overall quality of life across the board.

Popular leftist blogger fakes own hate crime

Popular leftist blogger fakes own hate crime

Today’s left is perpetually indignant and seems to hear “hate speech” whenever a conservative opens his or her mouth.
In reality, of course, this is classic psychological projection as there are few groups more intolerant than self-described progressives.
Some particularly unscrupulous activists are so eager to trash the right they simply can’t wait for a political target to emerge. Such is the case with University of Wyoming student Meg Lanker-Simons.
According to police, the prominent writer and radio host posted a fake comment on a campus social media page in an effort to stigmatize conservatives.
“I want to hatef––k Meg Lanker Simons so hard,” the post read, claiming she “runs her liberal mouth all the time and doesn’t care who knows it.”
Using the self-created opportunity, Lanker-Simons posted a response on the site and her own blog, during which she admonished both the poster and administrators who allowed it to be published.
Following a weekend of exploiting her own handiwork for maximum personal gain, authorities showed up with a citation alleging she “admitted to making a controversial post on UW Crushes webpage and then lied about not doing it.”
While the evidence is overwhelming, another social media page, “Meg Lanker-Simons is innocent,” has since been developed.
Even the page’s summary doesn’t deny she did what police accuse her of, noting “she did what was justified and deserves not to be held accountable….”
Only a leftist can create an enemy out of thin air and then, after being called out for the deceit, receive support from political allies. To them, the ends justify the means; they are convinced their stereotypical portrayal of conservatives is valid – even if it is based on nothing more than an overactive imagination.
For a bit more context, Lanker-Simons’ greatest claim to fame on campus is her involvement in a lawsuit forcing UW to re-invite domestic bomber Bill Ayers to speak at the school.

Reformation Project seeks church acceptance of gay lifestyle

Reformation Project seeks church acceptance of gay lifestyle

After America’s first professional male athlete recently came out as gay, the leftist media followed with its predictable support of the lifestyle and the player even received a call from Barack Obama to mark the supposedly heroic declaration.
When a sports analyst dared share his deeply held belief that homosexuality – along with all extramarital sex – is sinful, he and millions of Christians were derided by the same media and portrayed as hate-filled bigots.
Right on cue, gay activist Matthew Vines announced the creation of a new program designed to further cement that inaccurate assessment by normalizing homosexuality within the Christian church.
Vines’ mission through the Reformation Project is to join with like-minded individuals to train leaders to spread the message.
Already known for a viral video in which he explains his identification as both a gay man and a Christian, Vines said he was asked to leave his church after he attempted to change parishioners’ views on sexual sin.
He complains of “thousands of churches across the world where gay Christians have no voice,” paraphrasing the biblical principle that “the stone that the builders rejected has and will become the cornerstone.” Dismissing the fact this scripture refers to Jesus and not homosexuals living in unrepentant sin, Vines wants to change the central tenets of Christianity to make himself feel better about his own lifestyle.
This is nothing new, unfortunately, as believers often seek to rationalize their own sin in order to assuage the associated guilt. When a major campaign to normalize and overlook one particular sin gains traction, though, countless individuals struggling with that affliction can be misled into believing God has somehow lowered his standards.
Homosexuals – as with thieves, adulterers, and murderers – can and do make it to heaven, but only after they confront their sin and turn away from it. All Christians struggle to live in accordance with the Bible and we can never match the perfect model Jesus left during his 33 years on earth.
There is a big difference, however, between fervently praying for guidance in a struggle and pretending God’s Word has somehow adapted to one’s favorite sin.

Stick figure deemed racist by council member

Stick figure deemed racist by council member

After finishing what was intended to be a civic project, a group of high school students in Virginia were excited to present a patchwork quilt to their city council during a recent meeting.
Despite their good intentions, though, one race-baiting council member took offense to the artwork in one square, implying it displayed latent racism.
Representing a class trip, a small stick figure was meant to represent students before the event and on the other side of a bridge stood a larger, golden figure signifying “how he feels after he’s been enriched with all the different knowledge,” a student explained.
Council member Sharon Brooks-Hodge immediately chimed in with a stale argument indicative of today’s constantly offended left.
“Excuse me,” she interrupted. “Um, why is the small black person the negative image?”
Disregarding the fact most stick figures are black and darkness is traditionally associated with a lack of knowledge, the local politician simply assumed her obsession with race extended to the students before her.
“It’s not negative,” the student responded. “It’s just showing how much we increased.”
The councilwoman made it clear she did not approve and then proceeded to chide the instructors involved in the project.
During the hostile confrontation, one student reportedly began crying and at least one teacher tried unsuccessfully to convince the ignorant council member the quilt had nothing to do with race.
An apparently rational councilman, Danny Turner, apologized to students and faculty during a subsequent visit to the school, but the ordeal continues as the NAACP injects itself into the conversation.
Suggesting students undergo “training on how offensive depictions like this were to people of color,” the organization said in a statement that “this incident could have been avoided.”
I respectfully contend this incident could have been avoided if Brooks-Hodge did not look for discrimination under every rock and on every quilt.
Reports indicate the council will vote to either accept or reject a request to display the quilt within a city building. In light of one councilwoman’s unwarranted outburst, though, even if the the city agrees to prominently hang the quilt it will include some form of disclaimer.
The left’s effort to Balkanize America while attaching a stigma of intolerance to anyone in the majority for any reason is increasing in frequency and intensity. This small town councilwoman’s vitriol and name-calling proves the radical left has no intention of letting its divisive legacy wane.

The left continues to push for government childcare

The left continues to push for government childcare

Leaving aside the glaring problem of fiscal sustainability, the prospect of government-run childcare should send shivers down the spine of any traditional parent.
Admittedly, this is not a new idea on the left. To be sure, virtually the entire progressive platform in modern America consists of rehashed policies embraced by ideological forebears.
When describing the leftist pipe dream in a recent appearance in Ohio, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi explained her view that childcare should fall squarely under the control of the federal government.
Among the radical left, there is virtually no aspect of human life that does not warrant government intervention. When Washington gets involved, as we have witnessed countless times before, circumstances deteriorate rapidly.
Alas, providing solutions is not the intended result of increased government intrusion. Instead, such action is viewed as yet another opportunity to encourage dependence and compliance.
It is painfully evident throughout America’s corrupt public school system that government-controlled education results in students without a firm grasp of basic skills and with a mindful of leftist propaganda.
Following the Communist playbook, Pelosi simply disregards facts and explains why children should be turned over to government surrogates at the earliest age possible.
Praising Barack Obama’s budgetary inclusion of “preschool for all,” Pelosi said he “comes close” to the overarching federal childcare system she envisions.
Going back five decades, she portrayed conservatives and Richard Nixon as villains in the utopian quest to provide everything to everyone.
After a bill proposing government childcare landed on Nixon’s desk, Pelosi said “the conservative movement … came in and said that would undermine families or something,” which led to a presidential veto.
Calling the initiative “long overdue,” she supports yet another unfunded liability because “we have a situation of children learning, parents earning.”
With 90 million Americans currently unemployed and a woefully undereducated generation of students, Pelosi’s talking points are particularly unconvincing.
Nevertheless, she is sure to get plenty of support among her fellow big government lefties who view any and all wasteful government spending as sacred. Indeed, Pelosi falsely identified Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and ObamaCare as “pillar[s] of economic stability,” arguing childcare should be added to the list.
One could critique the federal government ad infinitum, though certain issues are far more egregious than other. Among the most reprehensible policies in recent years are the irresponsible mismanagement of revenue and shameful indoctrination of our youth through government-run schools.
Pelosi and her cohorts on the fringe left want to double down on both of those tactics by conditioning the populace to think of childcare as yet another entitlement.
The heartbreaking tragedy of it all is our Constitution promises only three rights – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The left has to constantly trash and attack these beautiful ideas, though, to build up the false impression the government exists to babysit and spoon feed its citizenry.

School cites racist response to West tragedy in firing counselor

School cites racist response to West tragedy in firing counselor

Individuals on both sides of the political aisle have been known to manipulate tragic events to suit their own ideological bent.
Those on the lunatic left, though, unquestionably entertain this prospect with a spirit of vitriol unmatched by their conservative counterparts. Such was the case with a social media comment by, of all people, a public school counselor in Texas.
The Grand Prairie Independent School District fired Karon Wright after an incredibly insensitive comment on her Facebook page seemed to support the genocide of whites.
“It’s amazing the ‘whites’ get angry when Obama speaks,” the post on her account read shortly after a fertilizer plant explosion in nearby West killed numerous residents and first responders while injuring countless others. “Oh well….its most of the whites who is getting blown away. So they will soon be wiped from the earth. Lol [sic].”
Unbelievably, Wright was the woman young students were told to turn to for guidance and support. If she truly embraces these extreme beliefs, I cannot imagine the “counseling” she must have given to unwitting white kids.
For its part, when the school district became aware of the post, administrators fired Wright and released a statement.
In its response, the district called the Facebook post “highly offensive, insensitive to the tragedy happening to our friends and neighbors in West, and disrespectful to the very human bond that we share with the people of West.”
Wright’s defense is that her account was hacked and she has since hired an attorney to contest her dismissal.
It’s become all too common to hear leftists spew unconscionable rhetoric directed at conservatives in general and white conservatives specifically. Usually those reports come from the typical liberal enclaves on either coast. I’m reminded in cases such as this, though, that sometimes the hatred can pop up in my own back yard – deep in the heart of Texas.

Anti-PC subject matter leads to threats against professor

Anti-PC subject matter leads to threats against professor

A professor at a New York university is facing the wrath of students who perceive the content of his lecture as insensitive to victims of abuse.
In reality, Dr. Theodore Everett’s SUNY Geneseo lecture was meant to bring attention the prevalence of fraudulent and exaggerated cases of sexual assault that  often cast doubt on the countless cases of actual attacks. Such clarification, though, has absolutely no bearing on the decisions of those already committed to demonizing and threatening him.
After merely announcing his intention to lead the discussion, called, “Against ‘Sexual’ ‘Assault’ ‘Awareness’,” extremists upset about its possible content began circulating a petition.
“I think Dr. Theodore [expletive deleted] Everett should be assaulted sexually,” reads an accompanying online post.
Lunatic leftists are notoriously shallow thinkers and cannot differentiate between criticism of fraud and criticism of victims. This phenomenon is demonstrated in various situations, such as when conservatives cite the rampant abuse of America’s welfare system and are immediately accused of hating the poor.
Since the knee-jerk reaction of Sam White – the student who started the petition – and the nearly 1,700 additional signees was to judge the presentation based largely on its title, Everett decided to break down his intent.
Obviously, the title is not meant to be taken literally, which the professor said is “precisely why [it] has those three words separately in quotes.”
He came up with the lecture as a way to express his “concern … that the sexual assault awareness movement counts too many borderline cases,” which he said includes acts such as continually asking someone for a kiss.
His true passion, though, is to give real victims the attention and resources they need.
The pursuit of each fraudulent report “diverts attention away from the truly damaging core cases of rape that everybody cares about and toward borderline cases that no one believes are equally important, even though they also should not happen.”
A professor dares suggest all sexual advances are not created equally and he is derided mercilessly by the liberal drones produced on American college campuses.
Universities – once looked upon as a place to experience a plethora of new ideas and values – is now a wasteland of failed political ideology and a continuation of the leftist indoctrination imposed during grade school.Unless more of us are willing to stand up and address the politically correct language and culture responsible for many of our current problems, I’m afraid we are doomed as a society.

Teacher suspended for teaching about hand tool files suit

Teacher suspended for teaching about hand tool files suit

Incredibly, the leftist overreaction to potential weapons on school property seems to be limitless. Judging by a complaint recently filed on behalf of one elementary school teacher shows virtually anyone with virtually anything can be portrayed as a threat.
Teaching at a public school in Chicago, Doug Bartlett introduced his second-grade class to common tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. He used the tools for their intended purpose during a presentation, though students at no time came into contact with the items.
Regardless, administrators suspended the teacher of 17 years – without pay – for four days because of his alleged possession and use of a weapon on campus.
In a lawsuit on his behalf, the Rutherford Institute claims Bartlett experienced “humiliation, embarrassment, mental suffering, and lost wages” as a result of the school’s decision to suspend him.
The organization’s president, John Whitehead, said the school district is not alone in embracing overzealous standards.
“What makes this case stand out from the rest is that this latest victim of zero-tolerance policies run amok happens to be a veteran school teacher,” he added, calling the “gross overreaction to a simple teaching demonstration” shows “exactly what is wrong with our nation’s schools.”
Though I sympathize with the suspended teacher, decisions like this highlight a much more serious and widespread problem. While focusing on unrelated periphery in a purported attempt to reduce violence, today’s leaders are woefully inadequate when it comes to dealing with the real root causes of such deadly acts.
Chicago, a city defined by both strict gun laws and rampant gun crimes, is a prime example of a city whose sights on this issue are hopelessly misaligned.

Capitol Hill event links sugary drinks to school shootings

In the wake of tragic events such as the Sandy Hook shootings, the left has done little else but blame guns and gun owners for the actions of one maniac.

Despite the fact their proposals would do nothing to prevent a similar attack, knee-jerk lawmakers continue to push for stricter gun control policies.

Liberals are able to focus some attention on other targets, such as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s failed attempt to limit soda portions. At least one prominent voice has found a way to combine the left’s hatred of guns and sugary beverages and unveiled the hypothesis to attendees of a Capitol Hill luncheon.

John Pierre, an outspoken vegan and celebrity trainer whose client list includes Ellen DeGeneres, was recently speaking before the congressional staffers during an event hosted by the Congressional Vegetarian Caucus.
The caucus, by the way, was formed to address a perceived lack of options for vegetarians and vegans eating at the Capitol’s cafeteria.

In today’s society I assume it makes since for such a group to exist, though I imagine its members would have been ridiculed by previous generations who realize legislators and their staff members should be focused on far more substantial issues.

During his speech, Pierre alluded to the statistic that the “average child is drinking over 50 gallons of soda pop a year,” apparently able to link that information to school violence.
“[E]very time you eat or you drink sugar it destroys B vitamins,” he continued, suggesting such behavior negatively affects “brain function.”

Listing soda first among a list of several other factors, Pierre wondered, “is it any wonder that children are … going into schools and shooting one another?”
He contended Americans are “breeding [violence] into them” and apparently supports a vegan diet as a deterrent to violence.

While I, along with all reasonable individuals, support a healthy lifestyle and believe making smart nutrition choices can be beneficial in numerous ways, the left’s utter disdain for those who enjoy junk food occasionally is getting more pronounced by the day.

When ridiculous proposals by Bloomberg and other big government nannies failed miserably, it wasn’t long before the lunatic left used another of its indispensable tactics – character assassination.
Pierre, speaking to a group of highly influential Capitol Hill staffers, essentially put forth the argument that allowing a child to have soda is tantamount to spawning a potentially murderous sociopath.
Such arguments are not only intellectually dishonest but perfectly illustrate the disconnect between the ideology of today’s liberal elite and the reality of everyone else.

Middle schoolers learn lesbian kissing, slut identification

Middle schoolers learn lesbian kissing, slut identification

There appears to be some fierce competition among school districts to offer the most morally offensive, age-inappropriate lessons imaginable.
A presentation, ostensibly focused on bullying, at Linden Avenue Middle School in New York included some unbelievable instruction that understandably outraged many parents.
With boys and girls in separate classes, the program revolved around gender and sexual identification. Some of the more egregious examples found in the curriculum included prompting girls to ask each other for same-sex kisses and instructing boys in the art of spotting sluts.
“I am her parent,” one concerned parent said. “Where does anyone get the right to tell her that it’s okay for her to have sex?”
Furthermore, she said college students who “were not licensed” taught the class and wondered why they were allowed to handle such delicate subjects with the impressionable middle schoolers.
District superintendent Paul Finch said the course and others like it are part of the school’s adherence to New York’s Dignity for All Students Act. Still, many individuals are shocked they were not made aware of the potentially disturbing subject matter being presented.
“The school is overstepping its bounds in not notifying parents first and giving us the choice,” another parent added. “I thought it was very inappropriate. That kind of instruction is best left up to the parents.”
Yet another parent said her 13-year-old son was advised by the class’ instructor to always keep a condom in his wallet and to identify women as sluts by, among other factors, their wardrobe.
“We don’t judge people like that in our family,” she said.
In their zeal to wage war on student bullying, instructors and administrators themselves become de facto bullies. Their targets are those young people being raised by traditional parents trying to instill in them a morality the left finds reprehensible and hopelessly outdated.

“Master bedroom” latest victim of PC police

“Master Bedroom” latest victim of PC police

In a continuing effort to scrub any potentially offensive phrase from the American experience, residential construction companies are waging a war on the commonly used “master bedroom” designation.
Sixty percent of homebuilders surveyed recently around the nation’s capital reported not using the term, opting instead for “owner’s suite” or some variation thereof.
One industry official called the new description “a more politically correct term of art” while another said young real estate brokers use the trending language because they “want to be more politically correct.”
According to a source at one company that – for now – continues to sporadically identify a “master suite” in floor plans, the pressure to change is “just working through the industry and finally, bingo, we got it.”
The constantly offended left feels the word “master” is both sexist and racist, conjuring images of white, male slave owners.
In real terms, I cannot distinguish the difference between “master” and “owner” as they relate to slavery. In my attempt to rationalize the argument, though, I merely give credence to the fact such nonsense is an issue in the first place.
Changing the national lexicon does nothing to address any residual racism, whatever its source or target. Such restrictive language only serves to falsely paint individuals as bigots and misogynists simply for uttering a set of extraordinarily common words.
Many on the left seek to restrict the First Amendment – as is their goal for the Second and Tenth, among others – because they truly believe such regulation is necessary for the betterment of our society.
These individuals suffer from an overabundance of emotion and a critical lack of cognitive ability, but they are truly pursuing what they believe to be a lofty goal.
A significant portion of these activists, in my estimation, does not believe banning any particular word will have a positive effect on our culture but they support this type of action nonetheless.
By preemptively demonizing anyone using “offensive” terms, any further information provided can be completely disregarded. Silencing dissent is a highly effective tactic among leftists who realize, if presented with objective opposition, the general public will reject their policies.
Since this ploy is one of precious few arrows within the progressive quiver, the left shows no sign of slowing down its predictable pursuit of creating outrage from whole cloth.

TV hosts claim Reagan’s popularity based on his liberalism

The man liberals called everything but a son of God a generation ago is now being described in much different terms.
Ronald Reagan, found on countless short lists of the nation’s greatest presidents, was notoriously unpopular among the left during his two terms and the accompanying economic prosperity his policies nurtured.
Called a heartless capitalist, war-hungry tyrant, and much worse by his detractors at the time, today’s left seeks to claim him as one of their own in light of his consistently high popularity.
When asked to compare the two, polling suggests Americans much prefer the principled leadership of Reagan to Obama’s shameless campaigning.
When confronted with one such poll, the famously hard-hitting broadcasters of NBC’s Today Show chose to respond by implying Reagan wasn’t extreme enough for today’s political conservative.
Nearly three-fifths of respondents said they would vote for Reagan over Obama and three-fourths feel the nation was better off under Reagan.
Finding it physically impossible to credit conservative values for anything positive, the morning show hosts did what leftists often do: they changed the meaning.
Weatherman Al Roker, whose inauspicious defecation while inside the White House apparently makes him an expert, claimed the Gipper “probably would be seen almost liberally today as opposed to being conservative.”
Insightful co-host Natalie Morales chimed in, “Totally.”
Other on-air personalities joined in the tangential conversation, which offered no evidence supporting their claims short of Roker’s conclusion, “things have shifted.”
Giving them an enormous – and undeserved – benefit of doubt, even if their hypothesis is correct, Reagan is by any measure to the right of Obama. Even calling Reagan a liberal (which was a difficult phrase to type), Americans still prefer his much more traditional views to the extreme leftism embraced by our current leaders.
Peace through strength, lower taxes, and a strong defense of capitalism are three overarching themes that defined Reagan and, in a broader sense, America in the 1980s.
Now the political wing arguing ad nauseam for the exact opposite chooses to rewrite history to claim a president most Americans prefer to the current president.
The left, which has a controlling interest in both education and the media, is quite able to change the nation’s perception of people and events over time. The only thing they seem unable to do is report what really happened.
