Boy Scouts waste no time marching in pride parade

Boy Scouts waste no time marching in pride parade

Just over a week had passed since a controversial Boy Scouts of America decision permitted openly gay members and some scouts were ready to make their sexual proclivity abundantly obvious.
A number of scouts in and around Salt Lake City marched – in clear violation of BSA rules – in a recent gay pride parade while wearing their uniforms.
“We do not, as Boy Scouts, show support for any social or political position,” said local chief scout executive Rick Barnes, explaining why the participants were warned not to take part in the event.
Scoutmaster Peter Brownstein, who reportedly helped solicit support for the scouts’ participation in the march, said the activism was “about getting the message out to America.”
That message, apparently, includes his opinion Boy Scouts are no longer bound by their honor code.
National BSA spokesman Deron Smith disagreed, saying to “simply disobey a rule because you disagree with it is not an example to set for youth.” He said any potential disciplinary action will be handled on the local level.
Still, one can scarcely blame this generation for believing rules do not apply to them. Our culture tacitly teaches certain groups – including the gay community – are always right. Any disagreement involving these protected groups is chalked up to intolerance on the part of the other party.
As with affirmative action before it, artificially rewarding certain groups based on arbitrary criteria not only stifles the liberty of everyone else – it patronizes and insults those purportedly helped.

Valedictorian uses speech to thwart godless bullies

Roy Costner IV earned the privilege to address his graduating class through the hard work and dedication needed to become valedictorian. His school district, however, had recently caved to atheist complaints by banning prayers during such ceremonies.
Undeterred, Costner defiantly tore apart the text of his printed speech and used the forum to discuss his faith.
“I’m so glad that both of my parents led me to the Lord at a young age,” he said before reciting the Lord’s Prayer.
Judging by the uproarious cheering and applause his speech garnered, the throngs of supposedly outraged atheists were underrepresented at this particular graduation.
Costner will not face any disciplinary action, according to district spokesperson John Eby.
“He’s a graduate now,” Eby said. “There’s nothing we can do about it even if we wanted to.”
His final thought is disturbing as I’m confident there are plenty of administrators across the nation who would try their best to find the accomplished student in contempt of some politically correct regulation.
We must accept the fact that groups who seek to silence the free expression of faith now hold more power than ever before in America. When face with such opposition, we can choose to remain passive and give into their demands or stand firm and demand our inalienable rights.
There was a time in this nation, not too long ago, during which graduations and almost all other ceremonies included an invocation to the God who makes all things possible. Today, however, such acts are viewed as intolerant and intolerable and the very recitation of a prayer during a valedictorian’s speech results in nationwide headlines.
Thank God for individuals like Costner who will defy immoral and unjust rulings.

HHS website targets 10-year-olds with graphic sex talk

HHS website targets 10-year-olds with graphic sex talk

Much to the regret of traditional Americans, our current culture is aimed toward sexualizing children through avenues including prepubescent and age-inappropriate sex “education.”
The normalization of sex acts and perversions thereof through exposure and repetition is having a deleterious effect on the next generation.
Adolescents have unfettered access to abortive medicine. Promiscuousness is glorified, not discouraged, in popular culture. Now, the federal government is joining in the disturbing mission with a Department of Health and Human Services website aimed at young girls.
According to GirlsHealth.gov, the site exists “to help girls (ages 10 to 16) learn about health, growing up, and issues they may face.”
Some of those issues include anal sex and the aforementioned “emergency contraceptives.”
The layout of the website, punctuated with colorful graphics, makes it clear the target audience is well short of adulthood. The content, however, belies that facade.
Sex education is an important, but very personal, subject to breach with children. While most on the right feel such delicate conversations should take place between a parent and child, the lunatic leftists in charge of education – and apparently the HHS – think government should be the arbiter of state-approved information.

Toll-free hotline seeks to assist fledgling atheists

Americans of faith recognize this nation is now firmly in the grasp of a secularist regime that ridicules the same beliefs on which this nation was founded.
There exist countless organizations dedicated to “preaching” the message of godlessness in an effort to reaffirm the ideology of nihilism while chastising those with a belief in a higher power.
Taking their outreach mission to a new plane, one organization has established a 1-800 number designed to help individuals transform from religious to atheist.
According to the Recovering From Religion website, the hotline is designed to help field “countless emails and phone calls from people seeking help on their journey away from faith.”
The group already provides paraphernalia and study material designed to help those of all faiths leave God behind. Adding the proposed hotline, the organization says, will make their effort more successful by providing “trained volunteers” to “provide real time, caller-specific support to each person who contacts us, 24/7.”
I don’t share this anecdote because I feel this group or any other should be prohibited from sharing their beliefs – or lack thereof.
The overabundance of such advocates, though, highlights a real and disturbing trend in this nation and across the world away from God and toward secular humanism. While reliance on God was touted by nearly all founders as a vital component in establishing America, societies without such authority tend to dissolve into a totalitarian ruin.
While I do not debate the right of Recovering From Religion to set up their fatalist phone line, we in the faith community have both a right and responsibility to help spread the hope and peace found through a relationship with God. The future belongs to those who are able to shape it and it is time to restore the Judeo-Christian values and morals that made this the freest and most prosperous people in history.

Public school surreptitiously scanned students’ irises

Public school surreptitiously scanned students’ irises

The government-operated school system in America has increasingly resembled a police state as stories of authoritarian overreaches and unjust punishments seem to have no end.
A further cause for concern is the collective loss of individual liberty by students in these compulsory indoctrination camps. One recent story perfectly illustrates the frightening lengths to which administrators are already willing to go.
Young students in Polk County, Fla., public schools reportedly had their irises scanned without their parents being notified.
Ostensibly instituted as a method of tracking students as they board and depart their buses, an accompanying system would alert parents when their children arrive at school.
Unbelievably, though, school leaders failed to deliver this piece of information to the parents themselves.
Calling it a “mistake on our part,” district spokesperson Rob Davis explained the secretary responsible for delivering the news suffered a “medical emergency” before completing the task.
Despite his excuse and promise that all collected information was destroyed, many parents remain understandably peeved.
One mother posted a social media critique accusing the school of “the invasion of my family’s Constitutional right to privacy,” saying it has “stolen information, and we cannot retrieve it.”
Another mother, Connie Turlington, said she wants to see proof that backs up Davis’ claim.
“My question is, how is it deleted and how can we be assured as parents that it’s gone?” she stated. “I’m waiting on an answer to see how this is going to pan out as far as my child’s personal information floating out there somewhere.”
Children are already treated as wards of the state upon walking onto many of today’s public school campuses. The enormous step taken by this school district just serves to remind us all how little we really know about what is going on in these enclaves of leftist thought.

Cartoon to feature gender-swapping protagonist

The assault on traditional gender roles is a major focus of today’s lunatic left. By relentlessly pushing same-sex marriage and supporting gays in the military and Boy Scouts, progressives are trying to desensitize Americans to the inherent differences between males and females.
Furthermore, the secularists in charge of education intend to indoctrinate the next generation with the purported virtue of inclusion. Female students are forced to share restrooms and locker rooms with males of all ages simply because they choose to call themselves women. Those who dare object to such deviancy in many cases face disciplinary action.
There might be no better forum through which to present propaganda celebrating alternative sexuality than the fantasy worlds created by cartoons. Children are drawn to stories aimed at their comprehension level and the heroic tales of superheroes captures their young imaginations.
One new program, SheZow, explores the life of an individual who openly possesses both a male and female persona.
The main character is a preteen named Guy who can quite accurately be described as a transsexual.
Young viewers hear Guy recite his catchphrase and he magically becomes a female superhero donning a purple and pink outfit.
Though some may see the show, which will air on the Hub network, as a harmless exercise in fantasy, this is surely just another step forward in completely rewriting cultural norms.
The Hub’s target demographic – ages 2 to 11 – are growing up in a society bent on legitimizing lifestyles many consider immoral and sinful. Popular culture will continue relentlessly demonizing that segment of the populace while championing the “brave” individuals who embrace their basest sexual nature and force their views upon everyone else.
With the self-described LGBTQQIA community dutifully portrayed as heroic and conservatives labeled as stubborn bigots, traditional Americans have an unprecedented fight ahead of us in the ongoing effort to restore this great nation.

Teacher faces dismissal for teaching Bill of Rights

David Jones (CC)

David Jones (CC)

Just days after IRS executive Lois Lerner improperly invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions about Tea Party intimidation, the often misunderstood amendment is reportedly facing another attack at an Illinois high school.

Social Studies teacher John Dryden said he checked his inbox shortly before class recently and noticed a stack of surveys with each of his students’ names printed on them. After looking over the questions contained therein, he realized recipients might feel compelled to affirm illegal drug or alcohol use.

To be reviewed by a number of specialists, the surveys were supposed to help respond to a number of student suicides. Dryden, though, worried uninformed students might be intimidated — especially with a police officer stationed nearby —  and had just a few minutes to decide what to do.

He said he thought “somebody needs to remind them they have the ability not to incriminate themselves” and felt compelled to inform the class about their rights. “”I made a judgment call. There was no time to ask anyone.”

Had he received the surveys earlier, he explained, there would have been time to discuss his concerns via more appropriate channels. Instead, he was due in class and simply engaged in a quick lesson about the Fifth Amendment, he said. As a result, administrators threatened him with a “letter of remedy,” which can result in discipline up to and including dismissal.

Dryden has seen a wave of support, though, as students and other allies have circulated petitions and made plans to speak on his behalf at an upcoming school board meeting.

For his part, the teacher said he doesn’t want to become a “sideshow” in what he feels is an important conversation.

“These are good, professional, smart people on the other side who want to do what is right by kids,” he said, clarifying that he is not “a martyr.”

Regardless of administrators’ good intentions, this incident illustrates an inherent flaw in today’s education system. A teacher like Dryden with scores of admirers should feel that he could use an existing situation as the catalyst for an impromptu lesson on the Bill of Rights.

Instead, he is treated with suspicion while countless other teachers use their position to push a litany of far-left, secularist ideas.

Hopefully this teacher will not lose his job over such an apparent overreaction. If he does find himself in need of alternative employment, though, maybe he could conduct remedial Fifth Amendment courses at the IRS.

Vitriolic Bloomberg reportedly attacks taxi magnate

Vitriolic Bloomberg reportedly attacks taxi magnate

New York City has a storied history of resilience and prosperity in the face of any variety of attack. The great city’s current mayor, though, continues to do his level best to destroy it from high atop his socialist perch.
Undeterred by the resounding defeat of his ban on sugary drinks, Michael Bloomberg set his sights on the metropolitan taxi cab industry.
His “Taxi of Tomorrow” proposal was similarly rejected when the State Supreme Court ruled it violated existing city ordinances.
If his revamp of the city’s transit system had been approved, all the city’s taxi cabs would have been replaced with Nissan vans sporting transparent roofs and less annoying – and likely less effective – horns.
Though his overreach was misguided, we have come to expect no less from Bloomberg. The real outrage came from a report by Gene Friedman, who as of 2010 owned more than 5 percent of the city’s taxis, or around 700 altogether.
Recounting a recent meeting with the mayor, Friedman alleged Bloomberg offered a candid and profane admission of his true intent.
“He turns to me and said, ‘Come January 1st, when I am out of office, I am going to destroy your [expletive deleted] industry,'” Friedman recalled. Reports indicate at least one other bystander share a similar account of the conversation.
Many on the right recognized his goal is to destroy elements of our society he feels should be rebuilt by big government. In that regard, he is not unlike any number of his far left cohorts.
It is unusual, however, to see a big government elitist tell the truth about their intentions.

DOJ employees compelled to embrace gay lifestyle

DOJ employees compelled to embrace gay lifestyle

In the aftermath of both the Fast and Furious and Associated Press scandals, Eric Holder’s Justice Department is afforded little credibility in performing its prescribed duties.
Still, it appears the department tasked with upholding constitutional law reached the height of hypocrisy by issuing guidelines to employees that blatantly abridge their First Amendment rights.
The document, which concerns gay and lesbian “inclusion” in the workplace, goes much further than merely protecting employees from discrimination.
Language drafted by the DOJ clearly coerces staff members at all levels to openly support a lifestyle they might find morally objectionable.
While Christians and others with traditional values have long been told, explicitly or implicitly, to remain silent on the issue of alternative sexuality – effectively excluding one group in favor of another.
That constituted an injustice in and of itself; but, the internal guidelines issued by the DOJ is forcing employees to affirmatively support the lifestyle.
“Silence will be interpreted as disapproval,” the document warns.
The liberty-crusing guidelines do not require much commentary, as anyone who values free speech should be appalled by the list of accepted behavior contained therein.
Staff members are expected to place a “DOJ Pride” sticker or some other pro-gay paraphernalia in their offices “indicating that it is a ‘safe space'” while “gender-specific terms like ‘husband’ and ‘wife'” are unacceptable.
Workplaces should be concerned with providing equal opportunity to employees and openly catering to a politically favorable group does exactly the opposite. No employer – least of all the Justice Department! – should be allowed to unilaterally impose one viewpoint onto an entire staff. That is exactly what the department has implemented, though, as it goes much further than merely protecting the civil rights of gays.
The guidelines seek to silence dissent by advising employees to “assume that LGBT employees and their allies are listening” and painting a target on those with traditional values.
DOJ staff is expected to “deal with offensive jokes and comments forcefully and swiftly” according to the document, though it has become apparent the meaning of the word “offensive” has become extraordinarily fluid.
Through shrewd and effective marketing of their own sexuality, a small minority of the population has largely silenced those with a different worldview. The DOJ is taking that disturbing trend to another level by making such silence an employment prerequisite.

Democrat cites 007 as inspiration for gun bill

Democrat cites 007 as inspiration for gun bill

While it might be apparent to those of us on the right, a Massachusetts congressman recently confirmed Democrat policy is largely based in fiction.

Unabashedly using the movie “Skyfall” and its protagonist, James Bond, as a springboard, Rep. John Tierney recently introduced the ridiculous Personalized Handgun Safety Act.

Peppered with references to the latest 007 film, he contended “we should be able to agree on gun safety measures that will make our families and communities safer.”

The crux of his bill lies in requiring gunmakers to install technological components in all firearms rendering them useless when brandished by someone other than the owner.

James Bond “escapes death” in the film, Tierney recounted, because his gun “becomes inoperable when it gets into the wrong hands.”

According to the bill’s specifications, gunmakers would be forced to adhere to the new regulations within two years and existing firearms would be retrofitted with the technology using Justice Department funds.

Nearly half of the bill’s supporters are, like Tierney, from the bastion of leftist lunacy known as Massachusetts. Unsurprisingly, none are Republicans.

Despite being notoriously unreliable in practice, such personalization software could easily result in distressing results. In the event of an armed burglary, for instance, an incapacitated gun owner would mean the rest of the household is left completely defenseless as the firearm is rendered nothing more than a scary-looking paperweight.

Touted as a means to prevent accidental deaths, this transparent attempt to further prune the Second Amendment would do nothing more than making gun ownership more expensive and less effective.

Though he seems keen on using this particular scene as legislative inspiration, Tierney has not yet stated his position on another potential killer – the Komodo dragon ultimately responsible for the villain’s death.

Newsman leaves crucial detail out of burglary account

Newsman leaves crucial detail out of burglary account

Somehow, Dan Rather is still able to find an audience despite his very public ouster from CBS in 2004 after reporting falsified and unsubstantiated information about President George W. Bush.

Of course, his audience has been decreased exponentially, but the holdover from a bygone generation of news anchors continues to exercise his First Amendment rights via his own virtually unwatched program and as a guest on other leftist news networks.

Appearing on the Rachel Maddow Show recently, Rather was able to reach an audience likely in double digits. Unsurprisingly, he used the opportunity to decry Republican administrations of yore.

As three major scandals converge on the White House, MSNBC remained true to form and the conversation between Maddow and Rather naturally navigated toward the topic of Richard Nixon.

Rather shared the personal account of a residential burglary he said was the work of  “the notorious plumbers’ operation,” referring to the group Nixon used to halt White House information leaks.

“It was a long time figuring out who did it,” he said, adding, “this became common during the Nixon administration.”

His nostalgia was uneventful by MSNBC standards, though one detail included in his autobiographical account of the story was suspiciously missing from his on air narrative. In his memoirs, Rather claimed he “did what any Texan would do,” describing that he “made sure the family was safe, then grabbed the shotgun.”

I must admit I’m surprised the detail about a gun even made it into his book, but he described the incident in detail through the written word. On camera, though, looking into the wild eyes of Rachel Maddow, Rather neglected to mention that he pointed a loaded and chambered shotgun at a group of what he later learned were GOP operatives.

Honestly, that might be the one target for which Maddow and her deranged audience feel gunfire is warranted.

Students forced to fund lecture by prostitutes

Students forced to fund lecture by prostitutes

Colleges ostensibly offer young adults their first independent exposure to new cultures and experiences.
While I expect – and even encourage – universities to offer presentations by those with whom I disagree ideologically, today’s leftist administrators rarely offer any traditional speakers to counterbalance that exposure.
A recent series of lectures by prostitutes and strippers at the University of New Hampshire shows the outrageous lengths schools will go to legitimize and normalize immoral lifestyles.
Adding further insult to the conference is the fact students compulsorily funded it through mandatory student activity fees. About half of the roughly $2,250 it cost to host the obscene antics came from that fund.
Perhaps showing the limited exchange rate for a degree from UNH, a number of the guests invited to talk about their
Self-described “sex worker” Kitty Stryker began a petition to collect both money and signatures to show support for the college in giving hookers “a voice when so many would rather silence us.”
The event was organized as part of a class assignment and received sponsorships from campus groups including Queer Studies and Voices of Planned Parenthood, among others.
While the objectionable content of the lectures obviously disturbed many students, the issue of financial waste was also a major concern.
Young Americans for Prosperity New Hampshire Director Greg Moore wanted to learn more about funding for the workshop and filed the necessary paperwork to attain that information.
With college costs skyrocketing in recent years, he said a rally on behalf of prostitution used “funds that could be used elsewhere to keep tuition down.”
There are two very good reasons this conference should have been nipped in the bud; one is moral and the other financial. Unfortunately, leftists are notoriously unresponsive to reason in both categories.

Gay student claims discrimination in failed prom queen bid

Gay student claims discrimination in failed prom queen bid

The left has tried for decades to redefine gender and, to a large degree, they have been successful.
Evidence of the extent to which traditional gender roles have been disregarded is on display in a complaint recently filed by a high school student in Kyle, Texas.
Coy Villasenor is a gay male and wants to compete for the title of prom queen.
Though he was first told he could run, a subsequent ruling dictated only transgender students can run for opposite-sex titles.
Villasenor contends he should be able to run because “the king’s title is more masculine and the queen is someone who rules with a gentle hand and that’s how I am.”
This is the type of convoluted logic that prevails when society fails to recognize the beautiful simplicity of God’s design – men and women are inherently different.
Deciding who is and who is not transgender should not be a common problem in America’s high schools but as more letters get added to the acronym describing sexual minorities, we will inevitably similarly ridiculous situations with increased frequency. As of this writing, the preferred designation by many activist groups is LGBTQIA, which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, and asexual.
Equality Texas, a gay rights organization, unsurprisingly criticized the school district’s decision.
Spokeswoman Lisa Scheps said the group’s members “believe a person is male or female based on their personal gender identity and not on physiology or what the states decides to put on an identification card.”
Of course, what this group happens to believe does not change reality, though a growing percent of the population is receptive to this “new normal” of abnormality.
Villasenor said he is speaking up for his belief in “being open without anybody telling you you can’t do it or it’s not OK to do it.”
In other words, rules are obsolete.
Already accommodating transgender students, a statement from the school district explained its decision to stop short of allowing a gay male to run for prom queen “protects the equal access for male and female students to each achieve a place on the prom court.”
This is a subject that, in my ideal world, would be a non-issue. As I live in the real world, I understand our culture has irrevocably changed, which makes it all the more important for those of us with traditional values to continue standing for what we believe is right.
The utter confusion associated with gender identity is affecting an entire generation which can no longer recognize the unique contributions males and females were created to make in society.

State university to hold gay-themed graduation

State university to hold gay-themed graduation

Just as those on the left who scream incessantly about tolerance are often the most intolerant among us, groups advocating for inclusion seem to disregard their own exclusionary activities.
A planned graduation at Louisiana State University geared specifically toward gay students is a prime example of such hypocrisy.
The so-called “Lavender Graduation” is the result of organizers in the school’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and a group of gay advocates.
Since the OMA is on board and providing funding for the ceremony, one coordinator said the graduation is made possible – at least partially – through state tax money.
Chad Freeman said he looks forward to making the event even larger, and presumably more expensive, noting “we’re trying to up our numbers and incorporate some things that haven’t been incorporated in the past.”
The gay graduation is one of only two self-segregated ceremonies, Freeman said, noting the other is a “roving ceremony for African-Americans.”
Though all graduates may attend the event, all aspects of the ceremony are geared toward the gay community – all the way down to lavender-colored graduation stoles.
Naturally, many on campus expressed opposition to the ceremony for a variety of reasons. Sophomore Caleb Covington detailed two major concerns.
He called the event “fiscally unsound” while noting it is “somewhat unfair to many other groups who want to have their own private graduation ceremonies.”
College campuses should be a microcosm of the outside world, teaching young adults how to interact with those of other backgrounds and cultures.
As with the rest of society, though, that ideal is too often stymied by any variety of minority group. Instead of embracing the coexistence they ostensibly support, individuals such as these LSU students opt instead to focus on those characteristics that make them different.
At times, most of us associate with those who share common bonds or experiences and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. These students, however, choose to identify themselves by their sexual preference – or skin color – rather than as a cohesive graduating class.
When members of subcultural groups decide to splinter off into familiar enclaves, we cannot hope to return to the “melting pot” effect of assimilation responsible for making America the most diverse and open society on the face of the earth.

Students coerced into participating in anti-fracking assembly

Students coerced into participating in anti-fracking assembly

Middle school students in one school outside of Denver, Colo., were recently confronted by a couple of in-your-face environmental extremists known as the Earth Guardians.
The duo presented a rap song called “What the Frack,” which claims hydraulic fracturing “poisoned the water, poisoned the air [and] poisoned the people.”
Evidence backing up the activists’ claims is tenuous at best and prominent leftists have long been attempting to marginalize and discredit the efficient drilling method.
When these protesters are allowed to spew their unfounded claims directly to a group of captive children without an opposing viewpoint, the term ‘indoctrination’ seems an appropriate description.
Making sure to get the kids involved, thus giving the performance more impact, Earth Guardians exclaimed, “When we say ‘What the,’ you say ‘frack!'”
I might be old-fashioned – and proudly so – but I also have a problem with a middle school class being forced to shout a word that is obviously supposed to be a less-profane placeholder for a vulgarity.
School administrators apparently recognized the error in judgment and issued an apology – but only after several parents complained.
Principal Kristopher Schuh indicated he planned to have a conference with the teacher who planned the event, present the other side of the argument to students, and instate a more thorough background check for prospective speakers.
It is positive to see Schuh respond in such a manner, though I wonder what, if anything, might have been done if parents had remained silent.
As children spend much of their lives within the walls of their school, completely reliant on the views and opinions expressed by their teachers, it is imperative that parents remain involved and engaged in their lives. Administrators certainly won’t volunteer the fact they are forcing leftist propaganda onto the next generation.
