Oh noes… DNC officials meeting to ‘consider’ replacing Hillary on the Ballot

Last night, journalist David Shuster informed the twitter world that the DNC may be considering the replacement of Hillary Clinton on the ballot due to her recent medical ‘episode.’

“Clarification from dem operatives @HillaryClinton pneumonia: Expect emergency DNC meeting to CONSIDER replacement. #HillarysHealth”

This meeting was likely to discuss alternatives to Clinton -IF- she decided to remove her own name from the ballot or died. They cannot change the ballot of their own volition – it’s up to Hillary and/or God at this point.

Top dem: “we can make contingencies, argue, please with @HillaryClinton, but DNC bylaws are clear her nominee status now totally up to her.” 9:17pm – 11 Sep 2016

If Clinton voluntarily removes her name from the ballot or passes away, the DNC will gather and committee members will vote on a replacement – the two most-likely candidates are Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

Alternatives floating around the blogosphere are that Tim Kaine get promoted to Presidential candidate and put Bernie, Biden or *gasp* Barack Obama in the VP slot.

The problem is timing. Most, if not all, states have already printed their ballots and many have already mailed absentee ballots out. While die-hard democrats will vote for the (D) at the top of the ticket, independents might hesitate to vote not knowing with whom the DNC might replace her. Swing states could go GOP based on low moderate-left turn-out and the down-ballot repercussions could be tragic for the Democrats.
