Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan released a joint statement on their websites talking up Thursday’s meeting as “a very positive step toward unification.”
The United States cannot afford another four years of the Obama White House, which is what Hillary Clinton represents. That is why it’s critical that Republicans unite around our shared principles, advance a conservative agenda, and do all we can to win this fall. With that focus, we had a great conversation this morning. While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize that there are also many important areas of common ground. We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify our party and win this fall, and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal. We are extremely proud of the fact that many millions of new voters have entered the primary system, far more than ever before in the Republican Party’s history. This was our first meeting, but it was a very positive step toward unification.
Ryan also answered questions about the meeting at a press conference on Thursday during which he referred to Trump’s personality as warm and genuine.

We are bombarded with ‘opinions’ on both of these men, that’s fine. It’s those opinions that are expressed in “sound bytes” that are worrisome….it indicates many are NOT thinking for themselves and likely uninformed & talking just because they have a mouth and the compulsion to use it.
Let’s get honest…Not a single one of us agrees with our spouse 100% of the time….and we don’t divorce them immediately……we talk (hopefully) and generally come to an agreement…..
Ryan, as Speaker has a target on his back and Trump’s populist views are at odds. Both are Americans and apparently working to come together for our Country….BOTH are there because the American MAJORITY CHOSE THEM. So unless you like Hillary/Bernie ‘s way better….give them a chance!
One thing I believe we can count on….they both want to build, not tear down our Country
