‘Where White People Meet’ ad causing uproar

A billboard for dating website WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com on SR 201 in West Valley City, UTAH is getting a lot of attention.

Utahn Michelle Dessau said “I just feel we should be past that whole mindset of staying within our own race and segregation pretty much,” but is political correctness causing an over-reaction?

People date how and who they choose and if the market supports a solution catering to a specific need, does it really matter how others feel about the service?

There are Christian, Jewish, Black and Asian dating sites. There are sites for people who like tattoos and those that prefer geeks. Why the uproar over a dating site for caucasians.

Google Black dating sites and you’ll find services named BlackPeopleMeet.com, BlackCupid.com, BlackSingles.com and more.

Looking for a latino lover? LatinCupid.com, LatinoPeopleMeet.com, LatinAmericanCupid.com and more might meet your needs.

The Huffington Post labelled WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com as “the perfect place to fall in love with someone who is grappling with their own racism and trying to backpedal before he or she says too many horrible things.”

Did HuffPo editorialize on BlackPeopleMeet.com or is white-shaming the only item on the agenda? Just imagine the backlash if the left leaning website said that BlackCupid.com was “the perfect place to fall in love with someone who is grappling with their own racism.”

Society at large is not being harmed by a dating website, among a plethora of dating websites, that serve a particular segment of the citizenry.

  1. TOUGH !!! As me ole pappy used to say….”If ya can’t take it, don’t dish it out”…..And I am offended by their objection! Just to be sure, I double checked and found out that sure enough…I’m not a doormat and I am in fact a white Christian American. I also learned that one hellva lot of blood and tears have gone before me so that even I have the same freedom of speech as these groups objecting to this site.

The very fact that ‘they’ have to whine out loud would be a strong indication of their own feelings of insecurities and self worth. (and they may have cause to, I think I hear some bones rattling in their closets)
