Hellfire missiles are highly-effective and technologically-advanced air-to-ground missiles usually fired from attack helicopters or drones.
Somehow this one, intended for European training, ended up in Cuba in 2014.
An inert U.S. Hellfire missile sent to Europe for training purposes was wrongly shipped from there to Cuba in 2014, said people familiar with the matter, a loss of sensitive military technology that ranks among the worst-known incidents of its kind.
So, yeah, this one didn’t have a warhead (inert). But that won’t keep Cuba from selling the sensors, guidance, motor and other technology to the highest bidder – Russia, China, N. Korea, etc.
What is worse is that our President has worked diligently to normalize relations with Cuba. This move has far more advantages for Cuba than the United States. Why not demand the missile be returned as a condition of an early phase of normalization? How are we continuing to normalize relations when they knowingly possess stolen U.S. technology?
Then again… our lead negotiator sold the farm to Iran .. and the U.N. .. and.. and ..and..
