Christians vs. Muslims? REALLY!

It seems like most articles written today mention how Christians are ignoring their terrible recent past where MANY Christians have killed in the name of their religion. I would call that a falsehood, but simply put… it’s a lie.

Years ago my wife and I took a parenting class. We had a “blended” home and wanted to learn how to parent effectively. In that class we learned about “deflection,” used expertly by teens far and wide. It does something like this, as you are correcting Little Johnny, he brings up the fact that Little Susie did something that you let her get away with. He is trying to deflect the heat off himself. In the class we learned the response should always be, “nevertheless, we are dealing with you” and don’t defend the intended deflection argument.

Many people claim to be Christian or to follow Christianity, yet they’ve never killed, maimed, raped, or otherwise injured others in the name of Christ or God. Never have I seen training videos of Christian camps teaching their children how to hate and kill others. Never have I seen Christians beheading others who don’t believe. Never have I seen Christians performing female genital mutilation in the name of God or yelling “Praise Jesus” while they are mowing down people in a mall or concert hall.

Yes, I have seen, heard, and read about some extreme Christian crazies (notice how I am not afraid of using the word “extreme” when needed) who blew up an abortion clinic because God hates abortion. Well, God does hate abortion, but He also hates blowing up clinics with innocent people in it. There are NO scriptures in the New Testament that call for this or any other kind of violence. The Bible actually states that “vengeance is mine says the Lord.” A true follower of Christ would leave it up to God, because He can do a much better job.

  1. Sorry, Joe, but you kind of missed the mark on this one. When most liberals talk about how horrible Christians have been in the past and how they have killed so many in the name of God, they are usually refering to the Crusades. What they don’t realize is that the Crusades was the Pope’s response to muslims doing what muslims do, murdering, beheading, gutting, raping, burning, and taking over masses of land to settle.. or just leave in their wake. You had a good opportunity to educate so that others would have some ammunition when they are faced with the lies, but you didn’t go further than your opinion.
I submitted to CDN to write this type of article for them, but I guess opinion, rather than fact, is more what they want in spite of their ‘call for writers’.
Re-work it.. you have a good start here.

    1. Tad with all due respect you missed my point. The past is that, most of the posts on Facebook and other places want to start with McVay, or even talk about the crusades, Old news not even noteworthy at this point, I want to stick to TODAY! You really think people of today have the attention span to hang on an article longer than this one to get all the back history. No they don’t. most of the time these articles are aimed at the Choir cause the others don’t care… and from your comment I take it you feel I used no fact! I usually don’t respond but I thought it interesting you chose to “criticize” rather than to add to the conversation, exactly what you accused the left of! If you use the comment area to actually write what you say you want to you might find these guys might just reach out if you truly have the skills you allude to. Good Luck

  2. No, I got your point. I just think you could have added some to beef it up a bit.
I feel that I did add to the conversation by stating the most misused argument about Christian ‘brutality’. I also added by stating the consistency of muslims and what they do and have done since their beginnings. If you don’t think arming people with this information isn’t ‘relevent’ then I don’t know what to say. To properly defend the actions of the Pope and draw parallels of muslim actions then and now I feel is very pertinent to today.
I’ve re-read what you wrote and still don’t see a lot of factual information, though I do agree with your article. My comment wasn’t to criticize but rather to encourage you to dig a bit deeper. I’m sorry that you thought I was attacking instead of adding. That wasn’t my intent at all.
Again, I thought by adding these facts I WAS showing the editors the type of parallel articles I would like to write. I also like to write historical articles to show where we’ve fallen to get to where we are today, very controversial topics such as Lincoln’s usurption of the Constitution and usurption more recently, and the effects then, now, and in the future.
Again, I apologize. I do like your article and was simply hoping to get you to add some background to it.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

  3. “If we only look over our shoulder we cannot see what lies ahead”….nor prepare for it. .Our past history only serves as a teacher and prepares us for a future. We learn from mistakes. (hopefully) Living in the past obscures TODAY”S events. Without addressing them, there really can’t be a tomorrow, can there?

On that ‘deflection’ thing….My Mom’s response was “that’s fine, if Suzie jumps off of a ten story building are you going too?

    1. Jan, I agree.
When the past is used against us, when we see the past tapping our shoulder and showing it has arrived to greet us again, then it behoves us to know that past so that we don’t go through the ‘doomed to repeat it’ thing. There’s a big difference between living in the past and being able to use the past to defend ourselves when it is misused as weaponry.

  4. I began reading the article to learn what REALLY means, it could be interpreted positively or negatively. Well, I must say, that an article about people who were before us some 700 years ago is a negative, aka obamanism, which in-turn, makes the article irrevalent. Please try again about people of today, begin with World War II where America saved Europe from the terrorists of that time and became the policeman of the world snuffing out fire after fire until 2008 when the generation of that time foolishly elected a liar, someone who for example said, 8 Trillion is unpatriotic then, and today in 2015, says 18 Trillion is american. By adding to the conversation instead of critizing with REALLY may get readers interested in what you have to say. Good Luck

  5. Silly or Mr Willy if you prefer.

I appreciate you taking the time to read it.
I made my point on MANY sites and I don’t have room to write a short novel
I have to keep it to the point. I am sorry you missed it.
BUT I cant write it so everyone can understand it!

I do however reach many with my writing, and with my radio show hoping to get them off their @$$’s and stop complaining about what’s being written and actually go do something..

    All the best

    Joe
