According to a statement by the office of the President of TD Ameritrade, the brokerage started experiencing widespread order-routing problems on Friday morning.
Customers reported issues on twitter and TD Ameritrade has responded that they are aware of the problems and are working on them.

“We are having some order issues and are working to resolve,” trading product head Nicole Sherrod wrote on Twitter. “I know this is a critical day and all hands are on deck.”
At approximately 10:46am, TD Ameritrade reported that the issue was due to a software update implemented last night and it is now resolved.
