Celebrity gossip website, TMZ, reported Tuesday that star Ariana Grande and boyfriend Ricky Alvarez were caught on video that shows the pop diva licking a powdered doughnut in a California bakery shop, kissing her boyfriend, and then stating, “I hate Americans. I hate America.”
Grande’s record label has since announced that she has been replaced as the headliner for the July 11th, MLB All-Star Baseball game.
Grande is a Florida-born, apparently self-loathing, American. Having enjoyed America’s offerings as a child star on the Disney network, Ariana is showing herself to be all the spoiled-rotten child that others like Miley Cyrus have become.
The girl working in the doughnut shop at the time didn’t seem to think much of the former Disney princess:
Mayra Solis, 22, a cashier at Wolfee Donuts who was on duty when Grande went into the store, said the singer didn’t purchase any of the doughnuts she appears to lick.
“She was really rude,” Solis told The Associated Press.
Today, likely at the begging of her publicist, Grande released a statement apologizing for the comments:
I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words. As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole. The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry. However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better. As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recovery I cannot attend the show. I hope to make it up to all those fans soon. That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be allowed to skip work for almost a week over wisdom teeth.. actually, mine came out in the boot camp and I got a half day of light duty before right back to running, jumping, getting yelled at, etc..
