Julie Borowski, the Token Libertarian Girl, talks about the scandals in Washington. And no, she is not too young to wear pearls!
Monthly Archives: May 2013
To say that Fearless Leader Barack Hussein Obama is having scandal problem would, indeed, be an understatement. There is not enough space at CDN to cover all scandals, so let’s look at one: the Benghazi cover-up. Let’s further focus on the Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta.
About the Benghazi attack, Panetta said:
“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place. And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”
Panetta was referring to head of U.S. Africa Command General Carter Ham and to chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey when he made that statement to a Pentagon reporter.
But, regarding not “knowing what’s going on,” we have learned that CIA personnel at the Consulate annex, which was under fire for approximately 8 hours, were in constant radio contact with their headquarters. Also, two unmanned drones were sending real-time video images to Defense and State Department officials in Washington.
Did you know that Panetta was in the Army? There is one truism, one basic principle about ALL branches of the military, about ALL military personnel, about ANY situation: RESCUE! – NOW!. I can only suppose that Panetta forgot that basic principle when he became a political hack in order to further his career.
Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee in February, Panetta said:
“I think with regards to those specific individuals that were involved in this attack there was a gap. We didn’t have the intelligence that would have given us a heads-up that this kind of thing was going to happen.”
“We’ve got a lot of resources that are there … but if you have an area where you don’t have resources there, if you don’t have good intelligence, then it’s going to create a gap.”
So Panetta, in CYA mode, blamed an “intelligence gap” for his non-response.
Panetta is living proof of what happens when one becomes a political hack.
But that’s just my opinion.

US on course to gut its military…
With sequestration in effect and no prospect of it being cancelled, the DOD will have to cut an additional $550 bn from its budget over the next decade on top of all the defense cuts already implemented or mandated. Accordingly, the DOD is now devising three budgetary plans for three different contingencies.
The first assumes that only $100 bn per decade in cuts is implemented, i.e. that Congress accepts Barack Obama’s budget proposal. The second assumes $300 bn, and the third $500 bn in cuts over the next decade.
Under the first scenario, the Army would take the biggest hits, mostly in force structure. Under the second and third, all services would have to make deep cuts in their size, modernization programs, and mission readiness alike. DOD officials have privately conceded to DefenseNews.com that should the full $500 bn cuts of the sequester hit the Department, the military would be severely weakened and would not be able to defeat a major adversary, let alone a peer competitor (such as China or Russia).
$500 bn in additional budgetary cuts would also mean the military won’t get the promised and badly needed equipment and munitions to prevail in theaters where access is denied by the enemy with anti-access/area-denial weapons and where the free use of the airspace, the sea, cyberspace, and outer space is in danger. This means no new bombers, cruise missiles, carrier-capable drones, or other crucial weapons needed to prevail in such environments – which are becoming more common every day.
“If the second option — the $300 billion cut — were put in place, the cuts would be levied against all the services.
The third option assumes full sequestration, or $500 billion over the decade. Sources with insight into the SCMR say this option would wreak the most havoc on the military and force the cancellation or scaling back of several major acquisition efforts.
These sources also said the magnitude of the cut could prevent the military from being able to fight a major war against a near peer competitor.”
Also, by the end of May, four Washington think-tanks – the CSBA, the CNAS, the AEI, and the CSIS – intend to present their own plans on how to cut defense spending by the amount required by sequestration. These presentations will attempt to lull the public into thinking that such deep defense cuts can be done safely, without jeopardizing national security or any key mission of the military.
While 62% of all Americans oppose further defense cuts and believe the defense budget is either “about right” or inadequate, and even though the vast majority of both Republicans and Democrats oppose sequestration, there is little prospect of the issue being resolved. The two sides vehemently disagree on how to solve the problem, with Republicans opposing any new tax hikes and Democrats advocating a mix of tax hikes and spending cuts. Both sides have firmly entrenched in their positions and neither side is willing to blink first.
Also, both parties are being held hostage by extremists on both sides of the spectrum who oppose any compromise and believe sequestration is sacred and should stay on the books.
Already prior to sequestration, the military had to make significant cuts, from cancelling programs to retiring hundreds of aircraft, multiple surface combatants and amphibious ships, and 80,000 troops. These cuts would have to be several orders of magnitude deeper if sequestration were to stay on the books.
At present, the US Navy has only 284 commissioned ships – the fewest since 1915 and able to supply only 59% of combatant commanders’ requirements – while the Air Force is flying the oldest and smallest fleet of aircraft in its entire history, with average aircraft age at over 24 years. Moreover, most USAF bombers, tankers, airlifters, and fighters are much older.
The Marines are poised to decline to 182,000 troops, the fewest since the 1950s, even without sequestration, but with sequestration, the USMC would shrink to only 150,000 troops, the fewest since the late 1940s. The US nuclear arsenal, at just 5,000 warheads, is over 75% smaller than 20 years ago.
…and so is France
The French government is also in the process of deeply cutting the country’s military, further weakening it after deep cuts implemented by President Sarkozy (2007-2012) (photographed above).
After the newest cuts – outlined in the White Paper on Defense released on April 29th – are fully implemented, the French Army will have only 7 brigades and only 200 tanks. Its fleet of lighter combat vehicles, helicopters, and other platforms also faces significant cuts.
The French Navy will not get the second aircraft carrier that President Sarkozy promised in 2007 nor a fourth amphibious assault ship of the Mistral class. After the 2 ageing air-defense frigates (destroyers) of the Cassard class are retired without replacement, the Navy will have only 2 destroyers for air defense. The frigate fleet will also shrink, from 18 to 15, while second-rate frigates will be reclassified as first-rate ones. It will shrink further as ageing vessels leave service, because only 8 new frigates (FREMM class) will be built – not the 11 planned just a few years ago, or the 17 originally planned.
The planned air-defense frigate type (FREDA) will not be built.
Yet, the deepest cuts will fall on the already-overstretched French Air Force, the world’s oldest. It currently has only 226 combat aircraft (Rafale, Mirage 2000, Mirage F1), but will have to cut that to a paltry 180 per the newest defense cuts. The entire French military will have only 225 combat aircraft (mostly Rafales and Mirage 2000s; the remaining Mirage F1s will be retired). This is another steep cut in combat power for an Air Force already deeply cut since 2000 (when it had 382 combat aircraft) and 2006 (when it had 330). The previous President, Nicolas Sarkozy, allowed the French Air Force and Navy combined to have only 300 combat aircraft.
The Air Force’s tanker fleet will also shrink, from 14 to 12. Thus, the FAF will see the fleets of its two most important aircraft types – multirole fighters and tankers – shrink at the very time when these aircraft types are playing the lead roles in France’s wars, from Afghanistan to Libya to Mali, where France doesn’t have any local airbases and has had to fly combat missions (performed by the very multirole fighters the government wants to cut, of course) from metropolitan France through Algerian airspace with aerial refueling on the way.
Likewise, the order for A400M airlifters has been cut from 70 to 50.
France’s Malian operation has revealed a shortage of tankers and airlifters, which France has had to ask the US and Britain for, but the French government remains stubborn in cutting the Air Force.
For overseas operations, France will be able to contribute only 15,000 troops in total, backed up by one amphibious assault ship and a dozen fighters. This means that, as retired French generals have admitted, France will be able to conduct only small-scale operations overseas, and in coalition expeditionary operations, it won’t be able to offer more than a symbolic contribution.
Russia exports A2/AD arms worldwide
Russia has stepped up its exports of anti-access/area-denial weapons – such as air defense systems and anti-ship missiles – worldwide, particularly to nations unfriendly to the US, as the US ponders how to counter such weapons while its own defense budget is shrinking rapidly.
Russia has recently decided – despite US and Israeli protests – to sell advanced S-300 air defense systems and Yakhont anti-ship cruise missiles and launchers to Syria, whose government is battling a Sunni Islamic insurgency and fears a Western or Israeli intervention.
The sale follows Moscow’s earlier decision, though not yet inked in a firm contract, to supply 24 Su-35 multirole fighters (with a combat radius of 1,000 nm and thrust-vectoring-capable engines), supersonic TVC engines for China’s domestically-produced fighters, S-400 (SA-21) air defense systems (with a range of 400 kms), and the Tu-22M bomber production line (China plans to build 36 of these aircraft) to Beijing, which has already built a massive, impressive network of A2/AD weapons, mostly supplied by Russia and threatening America’s ability to project power in the Western Pacific.
Russia has also sold S-300 air defense (SAM) systems, Kilo class submarines, and Su-30MKV multirole fighters to Venezuela and has been sued by Iran in international courts to deliver the S-300 systems it had promised to Tehran.
The S-300 and S-400 systems are more capable than the PATRIOT and render the airspace protected by them firmly closed to nonstealthy aircraft and missiles, as do upgraded legacy Soviet air defense systems such as the SA-6 and SA-11/17.
Mark Dice takes to the streets, and asks the public about the meaning of Memorial Day. The ridiculous answers of many of these people show exactly what is wrong with this nation. (I didn’t have the heart to post this yesterday, out of respect for our military, past and present.)
A Reagan picture produced by the Heritage Foundation.
Over the last few years, HumanEvents has repeatedly published garbage anti-defense screeds by professional blowhards, but usually it’s been just Pat Buchanan and, occassionally, Byron York – two well-known blowhards.
Now, however, HumanEvents is officially a leftist, anti-defense magazine, having just published its newest anti-defense screed, written by Steven Greenhut.
In it, the author tries to paint the US military – the defender of this country and its most respected institution – in the same light as the IRS, the oppressive federal tax collecting agency. What exactly distastes him about the military?
That it wants to be… the world’s strongest and a team of “warriors.”
Oh my goodness, what a terrible threat to US civil liberties! The US military wants to be the strongest in the world and wants to make recruits into “warriors”! Panic!
Greenhut objects to the Army (and its “Soldiers’ Creed”) calling soldiers “warriors”; he claims this is a militarist term and proof of America’s Spartan-like “militarization”. He even agrees with extremely leftist Associated Press reporter Robert Fisk calling it “militarization”:
“A few years ago, the Associated Press’ Robert Fisk reported on the rewriting of the U.S. Army’s rewriting of the “Soldier’s Creed.” It had long been a simple ethical statement in which soldiers vowed to protect our nation, live up to the highest ideals, and not disgrace the uniform. The Army rewrote it into a creed of the “warrior,” in which America’s soldiers vowed to “never accept defeat” as they destroy the nation’s enemies.
I don’t always agree with Fisk’s politics, but he was dead-on in complaining about a subtle shift in America from honoring our military and its necessary role to a more Sparta-like embrace of militarism.”
But the truth is, the Army has always, since the beginning of the Republic, considered its soldiers “warriors” and trained it to be such. Ditto the Marines, who have always led a Spartan lifestyle since their founding in 1775, as anyone who has served in the Corps knows.
The US military – like every other serious military in the world, unlike those of Europe – trains its troops to be warriors, not girly-men, smoothtalkers, or kid glove users. War ain’t beanbag.
(BTW, folks, you know what the British Army’s standard Infantry Fighting Vehicle is called? The “Warrior”.)
Greenhut objects to the US Navy calling itself “a global force for good”. He also condemns its statement that the power of every nation is measured in part based upon its Navy, so the USN wants to be the strongest in the world:
“I recently spotted billboard ads from the U.S. Navy, which proclaimed: “A Global Force for Good.” I perused the Navy’s Web page dedicated to the ad campaign, and there wasn’t a word on it about protecting freedom. I found the lingo a little creepy: “The strength and status of any nation can be measured in part by the will and might of its navy. … As the largest, most versatile, most capable naval force on the planet today, America’s Navy epitomizes this idea.””
Oh my gosh! Heaven forbid that America have the largest, most versatile, most capable navy in the world!
But doesn’t every self-respecting nation in the world want to have a strong, world-class, globally-capable navy – perhaps even the strongest in the world? Don’t China, Russia, India, France, and Britain want to have such?
Moreover, having a strong army composed of real warriors (as opposed to girly men) and a large, globally-capable navy is a prerequisite to being secure and and enjoying peace, as Ronald Reagan (quoted above) said eloquently many times, and as history has proven hundreds of times.
Yet Greenhut’s biggest lie is his utterly false claim that Republicans are protecting the defense budget, not willing to cut any program, not even entitlements, and objecting even to “modest” cuts in the defense budget. (He claims sequestration would be a “modest” cut). He even claims Republicans actually want to grow defense spending.
But, in fact, sequestration, combined with the $487 bn First Tier BCA-mandated defense cuts, means cutting the defense budget deeply, by over 30% from FY2011 levels. Sequestration has now cut the defense budget down to $469 bn, from which bottom it will never recover for the remainder of the next decade. By FY2022, it will still be at a paltry $493 bn in today’s money, as opposed to $525 bn in FY2013 pre-sequestration.
Sequestration itself requires cutting the defense budget by a full $550 bn from FY2013 pre-sequestration levels. Such a deep cut – $55 bn every year – requires deep reductions in every part of the military, from personnel, to training, to operations and the maintenance of existing equipment and bases, to the development and acquisition of military equipment.
No, Mr Greenhut, this is not a modest cut. Sequestration, if it is continued, will, with previous Obama defense cuts, actually represent the deepest (and fastest) cuts to America’s defense since the 1950s.
Greenhut’s claim that the military is “unlikely to shrink anytime soon”, like the IRS, is also utterly false. In fact, already because of previous Obama defense cuts, the ground force has to shrink by 100,000 men, while the Navy is on track to shrink below 280 ships and the Air Force has retired hundreds of aircraft since 2009, and plans to retire further scores of planes. And that is before sequestration is taken into account at all.
If sequestration stays, the Navy will shrink to just 230 ships, the Army to its smallest since since 1940, the Marines to just 150,000 men, and the Air Force will have to cut its bomber and fighter fleets by one third, according to former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and HASC Republicans.
With such a small size, the US military won’t be able to defend even America itself – let alone its overseas interests, critical supply routes, allies, or the world’s commons (seas, airspace, outer space, cyberspace).
Greenhut implies that the US military hasn’t shrunk since the end of the Cold War. This is also utterly false. The US military, at just 1.4 mn active duty personnel, and with 75% fewer nuclear weapons and delivery systems and far fewer aircraft, ships, missiles, and ground vehicles, is far smaller than it was at the end of the Cold War.
Greenhut’s screed is a litany of blatant anti-defense lies straight from liberal playbooks. By publishing it, HumanEvents has finally shown its true face and proven that it is no longer a conservative publication by any measure. By doing so, it has proven it is a stridently liberal trash paper not worth anyone’s attention or money. All conservatives should boycott it.
Shame on Greenhut for writing such a ridiculous screed, and shame on HumanEvents for publishing it.
This Memorial Day Obama gave the usual visit and speech and laid the wreath at at Arlington Cemetery that most presidents do, but in his case his speech about honoring our fallen heroes is just insincerity and words written by someone else in my humble opinion. In his speech, he said that Arlington “has always been home to men and women who are willing to give their all … to preserve and protect the land that we love.”He praised the selflessness that “beats in the hearts” of America’s uniformed military troops.
Ordinarily I would applaud such a speech from a person who loves America and all it stands for, but he has shown over and over that with him it’s only words to appease his followers. He is the most anti-American president we’ve ever had saying one thing while doing the exact opposite and blaming his predecessor or opposition. Surely it’s impossible that anything is his fault.
If he truly loved America he wouldn’t have gone on that Middle East apology tour calling us arrogant and dismissive towards them. He wouldn’t have apologized to Mexico for us imposing sovereignty on five western states on land he said originally belonged to them as they claim. If he loved America he wouldn’t have blamed us for the cause of all the violence in Mexico. If he loved America he wouldn’t have a government health plan that is all encompassing like Obamcare which the majority of people don’t want. If he loved America he wouldn’t remove the American flag from Air Force One and replace it with his own symbol.
He has no concept of our culture and history having grown up in Indonesia and raised by people who hate America. Both his father and grandfather called for the destruction of America. His background is very questionable and it has been proven he has a fake social security number and edited and photoshopped birth certificates and he is not a natural born citizen a required by the constitution since his father is from Indonesia with dual citizenship in Great Britain and only his mother is from here.
So on this Memorial Day I find any speeches by him about honoring our troops and heroes just false statements by a man who knows and appreciates nothing about our history and culture. Below are a few statements I found that ring so true and say it better than I can.
Want to know how much Obama cares about service men, He described Ft. Hood as a workplace violence, (the killed don’t even get a purple heart) and we, the taxpayers have now paid the Terrorist Hassan 278,000 in military pay. And we have 800.000 service disability claims waiting for approval, and taking OVER 2 years to approve. We are hiring 16,000 IRS agents to oversea Obamacare, and this gross neglect still going on. This is just a small sample of much he cares. Think of the warriors coming back, can’t work and having to wait that long for help from this government.
What happened in Germany and across Europe during Hitler’s time, was only because people were afraid to take a stand and the few that did were slaughtered in the concentration camps. Also because Europe needed a scapegoat to blame their problems on the parallel’s are so strikingly similar that it’s eerie. Last Time it was the Jewish People who were persecuted. This time around it will be the Christians. America has changed so much that it would be very hard for our Founding Fathers to recognize the America for which they sacrificed everything. It shames me to look at our brave service Men & Women and think to myself what they think about us throwing away the very rights that they paid dearly for. May God Bless Our Brave Service Men & Women and All of our Veterans and those families who stand behind them, America would not be what it is now without their undying love for Liberty and the sacrifice of so many Patriots
Our problem is that Obama’s administration is helping the illegals invading our country and breaking our laws. Our government is allowing illegals to vote and encourages them to do so . We are sure that the new voting stations are not void of corruption after all we have heard that George Soros has something to do with the voting machines, I would not trust that man for anything as he helped Obama lie his way into the White house with the help of the Democrats and foreign governments . The Democrats and some Republicans are trying to force Amnesty down our throats whether we want it or not, and most do not want it. The Hollywood people are die heard Democrats and will vote and say anything Obama or his thugs in charge want them to say.
Obama and the Democrat and some Republicans are killing our freedom throwing away our Constitution and our Law of the land. We have BIG BROTHER monitoring what we are doing around every corner of this country. We might as well be living in a Muslim / Communist country because that is what America is turning into. Thank Obama for accelerating the decay of America for that has been his purpose in life, the take down of America and her legal citizens.
• That’s the problem with obalmer, he is a great orator, but a flaming COWARD! and FAILURE! who’s time has come and who’s time is to go, away! He had a good talk, but a very weak walk, and he has all used up the racists card, cause we now know he is an empty suit! He is not half white, and half black, but totally yellow, as in cowardly, and has never taken responsibility for his failures, and totally reckless spending practices!

Pointing out the liberal lies yet again, don’t miss Joe Dan Gorman talking about Oklahoma, the IRS, Homeland Security, and public service unions. (And keep an eye out for those drones!)
Lately it seems that one cannot start to read the news without one item or another talking about gay rights, marriage, adoption, or entertainment. On the latter, Slate offers a column that borders on mourning for the loss of some programs that featured gay characters. As it stands, based on actual population, television still will be offering viewers a stilted view of society, with more than 4% of the characters in a given show being gay. Yes, that may seem harsh, but reality often is.
And before latching onto that particular statistic too much, one needs to understand what the Williams Institute at UCLA did to reach that particular conclusion. Their numbers include individuals that self-identify as gay, transsexual, lesbian, or bi-sexual – the latter they admit holds a simple majority. But, even that is misleading, because their standards for having this “sexual identity” simply involves admitting to same-sex attraction at some point in adult life – apparently not necessarily acting physically on said attractions. Now, uncomfortable as it may be for some to admit, same-sex attraction is normal, as in every human being experiences it at least once in life, typically in early childhood. That attraction is how normal gender identity is developed, as in a child is attracted to an adult of the same sex, and seeks to emulate that individual’s behavior. It occasionally happens later in life (without ending in sexual behaviors) for essentially the same reasons. People occasionally end up with crises in their lives, and become attracted to other individuals they would like to emulate – people they perceive as more successful, for example. So, the Williams Institute might very well be inflating the number of non-heterosexual adults in America, by including individuals that simply have some degree of attraction for others of the same sex, but no intention of ever acting on it.
Before moving on from the “Psychology 101″ concepts here, there has been a video floating around, offering what many are calling anecdotal evidence that a lesbian couple should have the right to marry, because they were obviously such wonderful parents to their son.
Riley Roberts probably does believe every word he said. What struck me immediately was his emotional reactions. It might be tempting to rationalize that as nervousness and an extreme emotional reaction due to his personal attachment to the issue at hand. However, what if Roberts is living, breathing proof of the problem with a male child not having male role models early in life? Regardless, his situation remains anecdotal at best, and now that I’ve pointed out the oddity of his over-wrought testimony, I have no doubt that contention will spread, perhaps in the form of some comments on his being “over-feminized” as a result of having two mothers. That is not my intent here. It is my intent to point out that policy decisions should never be made purely on the basis of anecdotal evidence. Additionally, while government in theory should protect the rights of minorities, that should not mean normalizing a behavior that increasingly is showing that it will result in harm to others.
And that brings us to another headline involving gays – the Boy Scouts of America partially reversed a policy forbidding gay scouts or adult leaders. Gays are still banned from being leaders. As for the boys, it is essentially a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that permits gay members, but forbids discussion of sexuality, and as should go without saying, forbids sexual behaviors. While gays might consider this some great victory, it may very well cause severe problems for the organization – may very well spell the end of it. Or, it may force the issue of religion within the ranks. While not all units have religious affiliations, there is a religious aspect to the programming. Honestly, it is surprising that over the years, the BSA never did explicitly re-charter itself as a religious organization, since the leadership obviously had to know that this battle would have happened sooner or later. Exclusion based on religious tenets is protected by the First Amendment. Regardless, this is something that proves yet again that the liberal public and media are nothing if not schizophrenic. Turn back the clock 20 years, and they were screaming to the rafters about molestation by scout leaders. Now they’re screaming that the BSA needs to inject sexual content into their programming by allowing “out and proud” gays in the organization. Bonus points will be given to anyone that can manage a logical explanation for that shift!
And since we’re hovering near the concept of corrupting the morals of minors, I would be remiss if I neglected to mention the case of Kaitlyn Hunt. Romanticizing an 18-year-old girl going after a much younger girl, against the wishes of that girl’s parents, is barely better than turning a blind eye on arranged child marriages in Islam. That may seem a harsh assessment, but it is truthful. And as for the cries that Hunt’s life will be ruined if she is marked as a sex offender, that’s probably what really is needed, if the facts do turn out as reported – that she continued to attempt to engage in sexual behaviors with the younger girl after being told by the girl’s parents twice to stop. Let’s not forget what we’re talking about here – sexual behavior that is considered “normal” by less than 4% of the population of this country, so therefore, by definition, it is aberrant sexual behavior to at least 96% of the population (maybe more, in the cases of those who practice these activities, but still recognize that it’s not necessarily normal.)
I am not promoting the homosexual answer to racism here – this isn’t homophobia. It is a statement of facts, uncomfortable as they may be for homosexuals. There is nothing normal about feeling a compulsion to push one’s sexual preferences on the masses, proudly flouting societal conventions. In case someone got confused here, the only people that think heterosexual people wander around showing off their sexuality are homosexuals. And again, heterosexuals are the majority. Life isn’t always fair. In this case, the minority is doing more harm than good. Maybe it could be a little more tolerable if instead of attempting to normalize their lifestyle choices, they would freely admit that their real difference. Stop making children speak on their behalf. Stop suggesting that there’s nothing wrong with attempting to influence impressionable teens toward their choices. Yes, it is a choice – to force one’s lifestyle on the masses, or to some degree of modesty, self-respect, and respect for others by not trying to play this game. Take the hint – “The New Normal” was cancelled.
Just days after IRS executive Lois Lerner improperly invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions about Tea Party intimidation, the often misunderstood amendment is reportedly facing another attack at an Illinois high school.
Social Studies teacher John Dryden said he checked his inbox shortly before class recently and noticed a stack of surveys with each of his students’ names printed on them. After looking over the questions contained therein, he realized recipients might feel compelled to affirm illegal drug or alcohol use.
To be reviewed by a number of specialists, the surveys were supposed to help respond to a number of student suicides. Dryden, though, worried uninformed students might be intimidated — especially with a police officer stationed nearby — and had just a few minutes to decide what to do.
He said he thought “somebody needs to remind them they have the ability not to incriminate themselves” and felt compelled to inform the class about their rights. “”I made a judgment call. There was no time to ask anyone.”
Had he received the surveys earlier, he explained, there would have been time to discuss his concerns via more appropriate channels. Instead, he was due in class and simply engaged in a quick lesson about the Fifth Amendment, he said. As a result, administrators threatened him with a “letter of remedy,” which can result in discipline up to and including dismissal.
Dryden has seen a wave of support, though, as students and other allies have circulated petitions and made plans to speak on his behalf at an upcoming school board meeting.
For his part, the teacher said he doesn’t want to become a “sideshow” in what he feels is an important conversation.
“These are good, professional, smart people on the other side who want to do what is right by kids,” he said, clarifying that he is not “a martyr.”
Regardless of administrators’ good intentions, this incident illustrates an inherent flaw in today’s education system. A teacher like Dryden with scores of admirers should feel that he could use an existing situation as the catalyst for an impromptu lesson on the Bill of Rights.
Instead, he is treated with suspicion while countless other teachers use their position to push a litany of far-left, secularist ideas.
Hopefully this teacher will not lose his job over such an apparent overreaction. If he does find himself in need of alternative employment, though, maybe he could conduct remedial Fifth Amendment courses at the IRS.
Honoring those who died for us… or are we? A good number of Americans can’t tell you what Memorial Day is all about. While some will tell you it’s about a long weekend, others will say it’s another BBQ day. The real Americans will tell you that it is a day to honor those Americans who died to give us the FREEDOM to forget what the day is about, or to remember what the day was about. The freedom to go out on the lake or to the park with your family. The freedom to do just about anything you wants.
The Freedom to call President Obama a Liar, Or for us to accuse members of the administration openly and in writing. Yes The freedom to say or recall anything you want. It is the freedom to openly ridicule our President, Government and troops to all the world without fear of becoming a political prisoner or being taken out back and being shot.
I will tell you what I will be remembering… I will remember that it was American soldiers that freed my mother and her family from Italy in WWII, so that she could come here and we could have a better life. By today’s standards America would probably have been told they should have stayed out of that war also because the oppressed people didn’t actually ask for their help.
I will be remembering all the dead American soldiers that died for others all around the world so they could be free from communism or oppression from dictators so that others could enjoy the freedoms that we have.
I will remember how American lives were given on foreign soil, twice, to liberate France so they could have the freedom to come against us in many ways during these last few wars with terrorism. I will remember the how American lives were also given to liberate Germany so they could also have the freedom to come against last few wars with terrorism.
Some may say that we Americans think that we are so good and righteous that we need to be the “Policemen of the World”. I don’t think that is it at all. I think it’s no different than when most good Americans who aren’t wrapped up in their own lives or agendas see another person in real need, stop and help, without any need for repayment.
What I will be trying to forget is all the bitterness that I STILL hear in the news. I read in the paper how the world is outraged that we would occupy IRAQ or Afghanistan, The freedom for the news or press to ONLY show us the few that want us out of those places.
I will be trying to forget all the pictures of the destruction being shown to us from oversees and trying to envision some of the articles I have read about Americans rebuilding schools, hospitals, and homes and the children having places of education, with electricity and hot running water, and the AMERICAN soldiers who put themselves in harms way to protect others who can’t protect themselves.
I will be continue to remember the 9/11 victims. Not because they were brave people, but because we can’t let it happen again… here or anywhere else.
A sincere thanks to all the AMERICANS that selflessly gave their lives, be it by death or by service in the armed forces, who have made this country a safer place for me and my family. I only wish I could repay the debt.
May God continue to bless you and your families.
Does it matter that four American men were brutally murdered by Islamists in Libya? Does it matter that two Islamists blew up a Boston street during April’s Boston Marathon? Does it matter Fort Hood, Texas was shot up by a Muslim screaming Allah Akbar as he murdered and maimed U.S. soldiers? How about those Islamic honor slaughters (Honor Killings) taking place around the United States? Should you take note or ignore them? After all, its Islamic custom to execute Muslims who reject Islam, date outside Islam, or become American and Western in thought and dress. Why should that make any difference in the way people view Islam? It’s a peaceful religion right?
I suppose Islam could be defined as peaceful since one is at peace after the knife-wielding lunatic takes one’s head.
If we want to get technical, we might even define the hacking and beheading of a British soldier by two Islamists in London this past week, as putting that innocent infidel at peace, right?
We could even claim the Islamic Tsarneav brothers gave Boston Marathon runners and spectators a “peaceful” tribute.
To the utterly offended, I’m not joking. Islam massacres non-Muslims—as well as forced marriages of girl children, torturing and murdering adult Muslim women and gay Muslims all over the Middle East and Europe—on a daily basis. But biased, pro-Islam left-wing progressives in D.C. and the media defend these brutal actions by demanding tolerance to Islam.
Never offend Islam’s civil liberties and its human rights.

What human rights!
Islam violates the civil and human rights of all who refuse to convert to Islam. Islam commands the execution of Muslims who flee Islam’s violent, political movement of rape, terror, torture–and if one is lucky enough after one has been brutally tortured in the most heinous fashion– death.
Non-Muslims are brainwashed by “Group Think” media progressives and elitists demanding all ignore historical facts and pull a Hillary Clinton by asking “what difference does it make,” as long as we don’t insult Islam?
Here’s an example: The Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties has a training manual for the Department of Homeland Security and National Counter terrorism Center (as well as other government agencies and workplaces the Obama Administration and Janet Napolitano demand be followed) used to monitor outspoken conservatives and government employees.
Don’t use programs that venture to deep into the weeds of religious doctrine and history…Don’t use training with political agenda. This is not the time to persuade audiences …on the views about Israel/Palestinian conflict, reformation within Islam, or the proper role of Islam in majority Muslim nations…Don’t use trainers who answer primarily interest groups. For example, trainers who are self-professed ‘Muslim reformers’ may further an interest group instead of delivering generally accepted unbiased information.
In other words, don’t inform DHS employees of Islam’s violent history. Ignore Mohammad’s bloodthirsty, forced conversion by-way-of-the sword. Don’t expose his slaughtering, raping, pillaging and plundering of European churches. And certainly don’t uncover how Mohammad conquered the Middle East and Holy Land: By massacring Christians and Jews. It’s best we ignore truths and turn historical facts against Christian Crusaders, and Christians and Jews in general. Make Christians and Jews the bad guys and Islam the victim.
The progressive “Group Think” handbook further demands DHS never discuss “war stories” or the “psychological indicators of terrorism.”
I would think “psychological indicators” would be of utmost importance, considering the “Allah Akbar” screaming Islamic Major Nidal Hasan, also a psychologist, taught Islamic soldiers at Fort Hood how to think and act against non-Muslims—wage war, jihad. Hasan’s Islamic conditioning prior to massacring 13 soldiers and wounding 26 at Fort Hood were deep “indicators” he was going to attack Fort Hood…with “workplace violence.”
But hey, what difference does it make?
Apparently none to DHS:
Don’t use training that equates radical thought, religious expression, freedom to protest, or other constitutionally-protected activity, including disliking the U.S. government without being violent…
This is how the U.S. government proceeds to counter terrorism: Ignore Koran demands for violence, avoid Sharia Law, because “Trainers who equate the desire for Sharia law with criminal activity violate basic tenets of the First Amendment.”
Heaven forbid we correlate Islam’s desire to exterminate the non-Muslim portion of the human race with Islam’s Koranic demands to exterminate the non-Muslim segment of the human race.
Every believer in Islam is potentially a sleeper, ready to undergo what the experts call “radicalization”. But radicalization is largely a misnomer. The proper term is religiosity… Every believer in Islam is a potential terrorist. Islam is the ultimate sleeper cell. Terrorism is coded into the ideological DNA of a religion built on war.
Instead, CVET handbook insists the U.S. government forbid counter terrorism agents inside knowledge of Islam’s thinking and plans.
That should keep the homeland safe from another Islamic attack.
Look how safe denying Islam entrance into the UK and tolerating Islam kept Great Britain and a slaughtered soldier.
A 20 minute hacking and beheading of a British soldier by Islamic immigrants to Great Britain and their repugnant reasons to the press informs us of the difference Islam is making in the West:
We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. Your people will never be safe. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day. We must fight them as they fight us. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I apologise that women had to witness this today but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don’t care about you. Do you think David Cameron is going to get caught in the street when we start busting our guns? Do you think your politicians are going to die? No, it’s going to be the average guy like you, and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back so we, so you can all live in peace.
That horror, as well as the never-look-at-Islam reaction via media “Group Think,” and Obama’s refusal to call the barbaric slaughter Islam, is theoretically nothing more than “Hey, it’s vindication-by-justification of Islam.” This is the difference being made: Brainwashing non-Muslims into compliance.
Here’s some subtle, well-mannered toleration in the face of jihad: The Conservative MP Col. Patrick Mercer told Great Britain “All the signs indicated this is a terrorist attack. If that is the case it’s a very carefully thought-through thing. It’s obviously carefully planned.”
“If that is the case!” What kind of “carefully thought-through” sign does the MP need to declare Islam’s violence butchery?
The terrorist admitted the attack is Islamic!
Prime Minister Cameron delicately stated: “Of course we need to be careful about similar attacks happening in the future…Police are urgently seeking the full facts about this case but there are strong indications it is a terrorist incident.”
Good grief! Can we possibly find another way to apologize without giving the UK the full Neville Chamberlain!
No doubt Obama will discover a way to deem this Islamic carnage as a multicultural street altercation.
The only way to be “careful” is deny immigration status to Islam !
The UK slaughter is terrorism, Boston was an act of Islamic jihad, let’s identify this brutality as Islam and stop it with the “Downton Abbey” tea-time manners!
How about admitting Islam demands submission and war. The beheading and Boston Bombings were done by Islam, Muslims, not the Vienna Choir Boys.
Islam is terror, not peace…unless one is dead.
If leaders and the media admitted the truth, Islam would no longer be welcomed into the West. But then what would we all do without a good conquering invasion by everything that stands against liberty, freedom, and life?
Thank heavens we have civil liberties handbooks to steer us away from wisdom and sense.
But who needs common sense when you don’t have a head?
After all, what difference does it make as long as infidels cater to violence, bow down to extremism that is Islam and allow Islam to invade and conquer our culture, Constitution, and violate our Bill of Rights?
Never mind Islam uses the Constitution’s Bill of Rights and First Amendment against America as a weapon to incur violence against humanity, Americans are to shut up and take the jihad against us with an apology before we get the peace job to the neck.
It’s getting to the point where the difference will be made on the homeland: We won’t have to go overseas to fight Islam if we don’t reject and deny it further entrance into America. Americans will simply go to battle against Islam on American shores…But arent we already doing that while progressives demand: “What difference does it make, as long as we don’t insult Islam!”
In light of these most recent scandals, and egregious assaults on the First Amendment of The United States Constitution, by The Obama Administration, in regards to the wiretapping of journalists at Foxnews, and The Associated Press – as well as The I.R.S. admission to having targeted political groups whose politics they didn’t agree with – we are seeing a number of officials from The Obama Administration, including The President, himself, to Attorney General Eric Holder, onto Lois Lerner of The I.R.S., denying that they knew anything in regards to these scandals.
Attorney General Holder is the man in charge at The Department of Justice; Lois Lerner is the Director of The Exempt Organizations at The I.R.S – that decides which groups can obtain tax exemption; and The President, of course, is in charge of the entire Executive Branch of The Federal Government.
Thus far, it has been proven, via a signed document by Eric Holder, that he did know about the wiretapping of journalists, the seizure of their e-mails, and “may” very well have perjured himself by stating otherwise to Congress. Lois Lerner, cowardly, pleaded The 5th, and is on administrative leave, which “suggests” that she may know more then she is willing to say. And, The President continues to act as if he is as shocked as we are, in regards to these outrageous assaults on The U.S. Constitution, and our Personal Liberties.
What: Saturday nights were meant for cigars and politics.
