Capitol Hill event links sugary drinks to school shootings

In the wake of tragic events such as the Sandy Hook shootings, the left has done little else but blame guns and gun owners for the actions of one maniac.

Despite the fact their proposals would do nothing to prevent a similar attack, knee-jerk lawmakers continue to push for stricter gun control policies.

Liberals are able to focus some attention on other targets, such as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s failed attempt to limit soda portions. At least one prominent voice has found a way to combine the left’s hatred of guns and sugary beverages and unveiled the hypothesis to attendees of a Capitol Hill luncheon.

John Pierre, an outspoken vegan and celebrity trainer whose client list includes Ellen DeGeneres, was recently speaking before the congressional staffers during an event hosted by the Congressional Vegetarian Caucus.
The caucus, by the way, was formed to address a perceived lack of options for vegetarians and vegans eating at the Capitol’s cafeteria.

In today’s society I assume it makes since for such a group to exist, though I imagine its members would have been ridiculed by previous generations who realize legislators and their staff members should be focused on far more substantial issues.

During his speech, Pierre alluded to the statistic that the “average child is drinking over 50 gallons of soda pop a year,” apparently able to link that information to school violence.
“[E]very time you eat or you drink sugar it destroys B vitamins,” he continued, suggesting such behavior negatively affects “brain function.”

Listing soda first among a list of several other factors, Pierre wondered, “is it any wonder that children are … going into schools and shooting one another?”
He contended Americans are “breeding [violence] into them” and apparently supports a vegan diet as a deterrent to violence.

While I, along with all reasonable individuals, support a healthy lifestyle and believe making smart nutrition choices can be beneficial in numerous ways, the left’s utter disdain for those who enjoy junk food occasionally is getting more pronounced by the day.

When ridiculous proposals by Bloomberg and other big government nannies failed miserably, it wasn’t long before the lunatic left used another of its indispensable tactics – character assassination.
Pierre, speaking to a group of highly influential Capitol Hill staffers, essentially put forth the argument that allowing a child to have soda is tantamount to spawning a potentially murderous sociopath.
Such arguments are not only intellectually dishonest but perfectly illustrate the disconnect between the ideology of today’s liberal elite and the reality of everyone else.

  1. Lets call a spade a spade here! This is some self appointed “expert” doing what the Progressives do best – coming up with more villainizing blame for the evils they perceive with the intent to “emotionalize”! Emo! The reasons for school shooting are simple – we do not teach our children the value of life and to respect life. And how can we? We murder millions of unborn children every year. WE DON’T RESPECT LIFE (as a nation)!

Here is my Emo prediction! Unless we reestablish the respect and value for human life WE ARE Doooooooommed!

But, of course, that is a lot harder to do than simply take away soda pop and guns!
