Obama Media Worm Turns on Woodward

The name Bob Woodward has been synonymous with investigative journalism for the vast majority of my lifetime. By the time I started getting my feet wet in that world, his words had been used for years by Journalism professors across the country – including my own. And I had assumed that he would enjoy privileged status until his full retirement, or death. But, the Obama administration has brought that into question.

Yes, I am a conservative that is suggesting that a liberal journalist should be left alone by this administration, because he was simply doing the same job he’s been doing. True, Woodward may have implied some degree of similarities between this presidency, and that of Nixon (if the shoe fits?), but that is no reason to start running about making threats against members of the media. That is another important point, since Woodward is by no means the only target of the Obama Administration, and Lanny Davis, former Clinton White House Counsel, explains that to the hosts on WMAL below.

While it might be tempting to take some degree of amusement in this latest round of nonsense among the liberal members of the media, that probably isn’t the best idea, especially given what Davis implies in that interview – that this administration is not above throwing around threats of withdrawing White House press credentials from journalists that annoy them. Sure, it could be interesting to watch John Nolte’s running list of liberal journalists that take the administration’s side against Woodward over on Personally, I think he’s being very generous in putting many of those people in the “remotely close to objective” category, but that’s just me. All of this nonsense is just that. I’m paying more attention to what isn’t making the headlines – the handful of journalists I know personally that have privately, or only semi-publicly stated that they have also received similar threats from this administration. That points out that there is a disturbing trend building here. And that makes Nolte’s list less than compelling, since it’s not insane to assume that those journalists know better than most about any blacklisting, or other harassment this administration has already meted out to “misbehaving” journalists. So, yes, I’ll keep track of that list, but not to see who’s a traitor against his own kind – I want to know who knows, or suspects how far this administration will go to silence its opposition in the media. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I think that’s more important than a hundred Woodwards.

The Business Case for Healthier Food Options

For years, America’s childhood obesity crisis was viewed as an insurmountable problem, one that was too complicated and too entrenched to ever really solve. According to the conventional wisdom, healthy food simply didn’t sell—the demand wasn’t there and higher profits were found elsewhere—so it just wasn’t worth the investment.

But thanks to businesses across the country, today we are proving the conventional wisdom wrong. Every day, great American companies are achieving greater and greater success by creating and selling healthy products. In doing so, they are showing that what’s good for kids and good for family budgets can also be good for business.

Take the example of Wal-Mart. In just the past two years, the company reports that it has cut the costs to its consumers of fruits and vegetables by $2.3 billion and reduced the amount of sugar in its products by 10%. Wal-Mart has also opened 86 new stores in underserved communities and launched a labeling program that helps customers spot healthy items on the shelf. And today, the company is not only seeing increased sales of fresh produce, but also building better relationships with its customers and stronger connections to the communities it serves.

Wal-Mart isn’t alone in discovering that healthier products sell. Disney is eliminating ads for junk foods from its children’s programming and improving the food served in Disney theme parks. Walgreens is adding fresh fruits and vegetables to its stores in underserved communities. And restaurants around the country are cutting calories, fat and sodium from menus and offering healthier kids’ meals.

These companies and so many others are responding to clear trends in consumer demand. Today, 82% of consumers feel that it’s important for companies to offer healthy products that fit family budgets, according to the Edelman public relations firm. Meanwhile, a study conducted by Nielsen revealed that even when many families are operating on tight budgets, sales of fresh produce actually increased by 6% in 2012. And in 2011, the Hudson Institute reported that in recent years, healthier foods have generated more than 70% of the growth in sales for consumer packaged-goods companies—and when these companies sell a high percentage of healthier foods, they deliver significantly higher returns to their shareholders.

These trends don’t just matter for businesses that produce and sell food. They matter for every business in America. We spend $190 billion a year treating obesity-related health conditions like diabetes and heart disease, and a significant portion of those costs are borne by America’s businesses. That’s on top of other health-related costs like higher absenteeism and lower worker productivity, costs that will continue to rise and threaten the vitality of American businesses until this problem is solved once and for all.

That’s why American businesses are stepping up to invest in building a healthier future for our kids. In doing so, they are joining leaders from every sector across the country. Over the past few years, through Let’s Move!—our nationwide campaign to help kids grow up healthy—we’ve seen teachers bringing physical education back into schools. We’ve seen mayors building safe spaces where children can play, faith leaders educating their congregations about healthy eating, and parents preparing healthier meals and snacks for their kids. And we’ve seen Republicans and Democrats working together in Congress to pass groundbreaking legislation to improve school lunches.

And we’re starting to see real results. In Mississippi, obesity rates have dropped by 13% for elementary school-aged kids. States like California, and cities like New York and Philadelphia, have also seen measurable declines in childhood obesity.

So it’s clear that we are moving in the right direction. But we also know that the problem is nowhere near being solved. We need more leaders from all across the country to step up, and I stand ready to work with business leaders who are serious about taking meaningful steps to forge a healthier future. We need every business in America to dig deeper, get more creative, and find new ways to generate revenue by giving American families better information and healthier choices. We know this can be done in a way that’s good for our kids and good for businesses.

That’s why, even though we still have a long way to go, I have never been more optimistic about our prospects for solving this problem. And I am confident that, with leadership from America’s business community, we can give all our children the bright, healthy futures they so richly deserve.

CEO Nat’l Black Chamber of Commerce: Obama Bad for Country

CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce Harry Alford spoke to Stuart Varney of Varney and Co. on Fox Business News. In a revealing interview Alford shares why be believes President Obama’s policies are bad for the economy.

It is too bad that Alford and other Black businessmen did not realize Obama’s first four years would only be amplified in the second term.

The National Black Chamber of Commerce is “dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining African American communities through entrepreneurship and capitalistic activity within the United States.”

A Letter to Working Class Democrats

I wrote an article a few days ago in which I appealed to conservative leaders in many fields to come together and form a 3rd political party to represent those of us not being represented In Congress.  To look at it on the surface one Eagle Changing Things I Cannotg Acceptmight think I was talking to Republicans and Independents primarily, but they are only a portion of the audience I want to reach.  I am truly perplexed by people who will vote for Democrat candidates when the party stands against everything you say you believe in and value.

During the hey-day of the TEA Party movement in the 2009/2010 election cycle you were right there with Republicans, Independents, and Libertarians; telling the federal government you have had enough of their big spending, “sit down and shut-up peasant” attitude.  You were a part of the 67% of We the People who assembled peacefully and voiced our desires as to how OUR EMPLOYEES should conduct OUR BUSINESS.

You are a Catholic, a Methodist, a Baptist, an Evangelical, a Lutheran, etc. who believes in God, believes in the salvation of Jesus Christ, believes in the freedom and responsibility to conduct your lives accordingly. You are an agnostic, Wiccan, pagan, etc. who are “religious” polar opposites of Christians.  You want to worship whatever orBible n Flag Picture whoever you wish, in peace.

You are a homosexual, bi-sexual, cross-dresser, etc. who wants to live your life as you want to live it. You aren’t the one out creating publicity stunts to get attention.  You are the one who just wants to live your life in private and mind your own business, and have others mind their own business.  Your skin has any one of a variety of tints but your blood is always red.  You live by the “Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

You are a union member who is forced to pay dues to a small group of people who control the job market.  This is called extortion and is illegal when not conducted by government and their henchmen.  You are a secretary, salesman, or customer service person at a store somewhere.  You want to live your life, have a job, and raise your children; and to be free to eat what you want; to go where you want, when you want, without government controlling every aspect of your life.  You want to be free to express your values and faith openly.

You are people who believe in the values instituted by our founding fathers, understand what they believed, know what they established, and desire to pass those values and beliefs on to your children and grandchildren.  You believe in the George WashingtonBill of Rights as stated in the Constitution; that those rights are “God given” and do not come from the benevolence of government. You are part of the 67% of We the People who make up the TEA Party.  I know you have courage, I have seen it.

The Democrat Party favors the confiscation of firearms, do you?    The party believes in open borders and clamping down on law abiding citizens in favor of people who break the law, do you?  The party elites believe only they are intelligent enough to know what you can eat, how you can spend your money, and on and on and on. Do you believe you are intelligent enough to make decisions on how and where to spend your money, feed your kids, spend your leisure time?  The party doesn’t believe it but I do.  I know you are intelligent, I have seen it.

Both political parties have joined forces to thwart the TEA Party mindset, not just the organizations but those who make up the rank and file.  You are a threat to a dictatorship being implemented by allies on both sides of the political aisle.    You are a veteran who has served your country with honor and dignity.  You are a part of those being declared “enemies of the state” or “potential domestic terrorist”.  You and I, the grassroots element of America, are being pushed out of everything, by both political parties, in favor of a central government control system that threatens all of us equally.

We are in this together, you and I, the common man/woman who desires the freedom to make our own choices in life.  You and I are much alike.  We have the same basic beliefs, as did our founders.  They had many differences, slavery being one of them.  Some were Christian, some atheists, some essentially agnostic; but they managed to forge a great nation.  We have many differences but we have much more in common.  If our founders could come together and find aConstitution way to establish the United States of America why can we not come together and do it again?  And when I say “come together” I mean unite behind the Constitution and the men and women who built this grand nation.

I address this to the rank and file Democrat voter but not you alone.  Every bit of this applies to Republicans, Independents, and Libertarians.  We must come together based on the values we share, the values we know are essential to the future of America as a Republic.

You are part of the 67% of We the People who stood up in 2009 and said, “We have had enough of this”.  It is time to stand up again.  I tried to make a difference from within the Republican Party and found out it is hopeless.  Even people at the county level are dug in with the liberal party establishment.  The “party first” mentality must end if we are to save our nation for future generations.

It is time for a new generation of founding fathers, and the foot soldier who made it possible.  Everyone remembers George Washington but who remembers the common people in the days leading up to and through the Revolution?  Eagle- America Deserves BetterYou and I are the foot soldiers Washington depended on to succeed.  We are the people who banded together to throw off the bonds of tyranny and establish the greatest nation to ever exist.  WE are those who will not be known in perpetuity but we are the ones who must make the future.

You and I, WE THE PEOPLE, are the ones ultimately responsible for the future.  I know you have the courage, I have seen it.  I know you have the intelligence, I have seen it.  I know you are patriots, I have seen it. You picked up your own trash at rallies and were polite to policemen, and other officials, and each other. You treat others with kindness, consideration, respect, and friendship.   You have the same values and desires for your nation as I do.   Do you have the willingness to step up again as you did in 2009 and be part of a new movement to restore the United States of America?

I have offered a solution to our political party problems.  Some will say “it can’t be done”, “we don’t have enough time”, “I don’t like that group”, etc.  I say it can be done and it is up to us to do it.  Let us come together to restore liberty and limited government as designed by our founders. We are no less courageous, no less intelligent, and are no less capable than were those 237 years ago.  The question is: “are we as determined to live free as our founders were”?

I submit this in the name of the Most Holy Trinity, in faith, with the responsibility given to me by Almighty God to honor His work and not let it die from neglect.

Ana Marie Cox Thinks Breitbart and His ‘Minions’ Are Bad Bad People

Ana Marie Cox of the Guardian isn’t on our team. That’s fine.  However, to label us the “jackass” wing of journalism only demonstrates the left’s inability to hold their own side accountable. She seems to feel that all of the criticism she outlines in her piece about conservative media are absent on the left.  This Friday will mark the one year anniversary of Andrew Breitbart’s passing, and it seems Cox is frustrated, angry, and perhaps threatened by the legacy he left behind.

Let’s just get this out of the way right up front: Ana Marie Cox built her career on blogging jokes about anal sex at the reprehensible guttersnipe site Wonkette. She presented herself as a rambunctious youngster, but it turned out she was already pushing 30 and just naturally behaves like a annoying, hyperactive juvenile. Both Time and later the Guardian hired her in full knowledge of this colorful journalistic career.

Now that we’ve established Cox’s bona fides as a scribe and scholar…

First, there is no such thing as being “mean” in media. As Breitbart famously said, “truth isn’t mean. It’s the truth,” and sadly that characteristic fails miserably with left-wing journalists.  It’s not mean to point out that Ana Marie Cox built her career on blogging anal sex jokes. It’s just the truth. It’s not mean to point out that Rachel Maddow seems content with airing edited video in order to smear Sen. John McCain’s remarks about gun control.   Good Morning Americaedited First Lady Michelle Obama’s inaccurate statement about the tragic death of Hadiya Pendleton in Chicago because of time constraints.  It was censorship.

Mrs. Obama claimed, “And she was caught in the line of fire because some kids had some automatic weapons they didn’t need.” This quote appeared online, but not on the February 26 interview with Robin Roberts.


However, when the interview aired on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, viewers heard the first lady said this:

“She was absolutely right. She did everything she was supposed to do. She was standing in a park, with her friends, in a neighborhood blocks away from where my kids grew up, where our house is. And she was caught in the line of fire. I just don’t want to keep disappointing our kids in this country. I want them to know that we put them first.”

ABC edited the response visually by using a cutaway in the middle of the answer of Ms. Roberts listening.

Cox wrote that the right-leaning media outlets have an MO that seeks to

 be outrageous, scurrilous and completely unfair. And then, when you get a rise, just shrug and say: “What’s your problem: can’t take a joke?”

But for something to be humor, it has to be funny. And as comedy goes, the Free Beacon’s jokes have all the subtlety of Jackass. The only difference is that instead of creating dubious hilarity at the spectacle of their self-inflicted pain, they’re using equally ridiculous stunts to laugh at yours. Clinically speaking, we call people with that attitude “sociopaths”, but in the political realm, [Michael] Goldfarb’s [founder of the Washington Free Beacon] punchlines – emphasis on punch! – are just the latest iteration of a burgeoning style of discourse whose practitioners have become influential enough to deserve their own designation.

So, editing video to smear – or convey a false narrative – is fair and accurate, Ms. Cox?  To smear James O’Keefe as a racist, who you also criticize in your column, without proof isn’t scurrilous? By the way,, who published the piece from left-wing journalist Max Blumenthal, printed a correction stating:

The Feb. 3 “James O’Keefe’s Race Problem” reported that O’Keefe, the conservative activist arrested on charges he plotted to tamper with Sen. Mary Landrieu’s phone lines, helped plan a conference on “Race and Conservatism” that featured white nationalist Jared Taylor. The freelance photographer who attended the event, and snapped O’Keefe’s photo there, now says the right-wing provocateur helped out at the conference,but cannot confirm that he helped plan it. The story has been corrected.

The article also said that O’Keefe was terminated by the right-wing Leadership Institute in 2008, after videos were released of O’Keefe calling Planned Parenthood and offering to donate money to abort black babies. He was let go in 2007. Leadership Institute co-founder Morton Blackwell told the New York Times O’Keefe “wanted to do sting operations that would affect legislation; he made some calls which have been covered in the news media to Planned Parenthood. That was beyond the scope of what we had hired him to do. We are an educational organization. We are not an activist organization.” Blackwell says he told O’Keefe to choose between his job and his activism, “and he said he was committed to the activism,” according to the Times. The date of O’Keefe’s termination has been corrected, and Blackwell’s explanation has been added to the story.

Cox also slams O’Keefe for using “highly selective cuts,” which is the seat of irony.  Besides the examples I listed above, MSNBC was caught editing the recorded testimony of Neil Heslin, whose son was a victim of the Sandy Hook tragedy, on Capitol Hill.  Contrary to what the media reported, he wasn’t heckled during his testimony.

MSNBC has a history of editing video to slam conservatives. In 2009, MSNBC edited out a black man carrying an AR-15 rifle in order to engage in racial commentary about the Tea Party. In 2012, they edited out Mitt Romney’s comments about the perils of too much regulation in business, and cut to him discussing the checkout process at the WaWa Deli in order to portray him as out of touch. Lastly, let’s not forget how NBC edited George Zimmerman’s 911 call to make him sound racist.

However, Cox’s conclusion to her piece that left me aghast.

…the perversity of this post-Ann Coulter generation is that they believe the world is run by nerdy liberal elitists , that their antics are a righteous rebellion instead of an attempt to assert the law of jungle. Perhaps it is true that liberal nerds have made great strides in governing – certainly, our president is one – but the reactionary insurgents’ anti-establishment pose, which goes along with shoving a camera in someone’s face, breaks down when you consider the actual policies advocated by the guy behind the viewfinder. Policies that, say, continue to suppress voting rights of minorities won’t make them punk rock heroes.

The only thing remotely disruptive about the material generated by the Bratbarts is its incivility. In itself, that is simply a style, not an argument or a critique. Incivility can be OK: I am a big believer in disrespecting those in power, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with being flippant – there are times when it is the only proper response to authority. As journalist and defender of the lowbrow Gilbert Seldes put it:

“Comedy is last refuge of the nonconformist mind.”

But confusing satire and hazing? Mixing up muckraking with misinformation? Revelation with subterfuge? Laughter with cruelty? Those are the tactics of would-be authoritarians, not outlaw liberators.

Of course, Cox had to boot-lick Obama towards the end.  It’s a sign of respect for the great one, which ironically comes before she professes her advocacy in disrespecting elected officials.  I’m sure she will be equally harsh on the Obama administration, which has “made great strides” in collecting names for kill lists, convincing the New York Times towithhold information about drone bases, and blowing away Americans abroad with drone strikes. The legality of which is still in dispute.

Lastly, when the liberal media went “birther” on Sen. Ted Cruz (R- Texas), isn’t that a form of hazing?  Isn’t insinuating his Canadian roots a cruel exercise in “revelation with subterfuge?”  Isn’t that “mixing up muckraking and misinformation?  Cruz happens to be a conservative sticking to his principles, and his Canadian roots are an extraneous detail since he was born to an American mother, making him eligible to run for president.  Yes, in 2016, we could possibly see a Cruz candidacy.

So, Cox thinks that we on the right sit at the “mean” table in media.  Then again, if the liberal media didn’t act like “jackasses” themselves – we wouldn’t be so angry.

Optimizing Your Dollar—A Well-Stocked Pantry

Quick and easy to prepare meals mean less temptation to eat out and leftovers often make a great lunch at work.

Often packaged foods have higher levels of salt, unexpected preservatives and other additives, fats you don’t want. But then, the same could be said about many meals at fast food restaurants. Still, a packaged side dish, some a protein, vegetables and a salad make a pretty nutritious meal. You’ll have to make your own choices.

I know what you’re thinking. How can I possibly stock my pantry when I can barely afford groceries each week? And you’d be right. The first few weeks will be a bit more of a challenge. But with a little practice and perseverance you’ll soon have your pantry filled.

To begin you’ll need to take a percentage of your weekly grocery allowance and set it aside. Even if you can only find two or maybe five dollars you can start.

Use this money to:

  • Buy loss leaders at your local grocer.  Buy non-perishable sale items. Every store I’ve ever shopped in, big city or small town, offers something sale each week or month. If you’ll use, it buy it. Save your money if it’s something you won’t fix or eat, don’t buy it.
    A few ideas: Our family loves Zatarain’s Yellow Rice. Generally it is $2.50 a box. But at least once every three or four months it will be on sale for $1. I stock up then. You’ll find the same with spaghetti sauce. It’s often $3 a jar regular price but will be on sale for half. And cereal…if you have kids you know how fast it goes. Always watch for cereal sales.  Do you like to make cupcakes for the kids instead of buying packaged snack cakes? Start watching for cake and brownie mixes to be on sale. Don’t wait until the last minute, they’ll last.


    Just because it’s stocked, doesn’t mean it’s neat.

  • Buy seasonal. Yes, this goes especially for fresh fruits and vegetables but there’s much more. For instance if you like to bake from scratch watch the holiday sales. I try to buy enough sugar at the super sale prices of Christmas to last the year. It’s the same with pie filling. Instead of $4 a can you can get it for $2.50 and it lasts.Pick up the makings for tacos including refried beans and cans of olives during the Cinco de Mayo sales.
  • Stock your freezer too. Do you have room? If so, consider buying two Easter hams and doing the same at Thanksgiving with turkeys. They freeze well and both make great leftover meals.
  • Buy Beans. Dried that is. If your grocery budget is already stretched to the nth perhaps you need to add something that is inexpensive, goes far, is good and is good for you. Dried beans, while not often on sale, are a great bargain. They are super easy to cook in a crockpot. I recommend a 4-6 quart for a family of 4 and if you don’t have one, ask around. You may be surprised and find a friend or relative with one that you can borrow. Take them a bowl of your tasty dinner in appreciation. Seriously, there are a blue jillion bean crockpot recipes. They can be as simple as plain with a few seasonings or greatly embellished. They are a good source of protein and will fill up a hungry kid. You’ll thank me later.

If you take advantage of these tips, in no time you’ll fast and easy meals and can look forward to a well stock pantry for your next meal.

At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing

I think it is important for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd
Amendment “right to keep and bear arms” should know when a business does not
Support these rights.
What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a
business’ political position, I cannot, in good conscience support them.

President Obama’s Push to Disarm Citizens & the Legacy of Patrick Henry

It was in that golden moment prior to America’s founding as a free country, the April of 1775, that the move to disarm Virginians was occasioned. John Murray, the fourth lord of Dunmore, was moved to seize stores of gunpowder after a tart firebrand going by the name of Patrick Henry served notice that the freemen of Virginia were not fit to be slaves and would not be ruled like them.

Henry’s fight against disarmament was echoed in a struggle less than a century later, as gun control measures were installed to prevent black slaves from rising up against their Southern slavemasters. The Gunpowder Affair shows the importance of fighting for self-defense rights against tyrannical government.

In the excellent biographical work James Madison and the Making of America, Kevin C. Gutzman lays out the significance of this seminal event in U.S. history:

When the Congress closed, Madison wrote that the Virginians “universally approved” of its actions because “A spirit of Liberty & Patriotism animates all degrees and denominations of men.” Another way of putting this is that all ranks in society and all religious associations stood for American rights. Further, Madison hazarded that “Many publickly declare themselves ready to join the Bostonians as soon as violence is offered them or resistance though expedient.” Virginians in some parts were organizing themselves into military units, and Madison wanted the entire colony on a war footing.

Madison wrote to [William] Bradford excitedly the following May 9 with a description of the recent colonial response to Lord Dunmore’s seizure of the colonial gunpowder. In the days before bullets, firearms required gunpowder, which was in short supply in the colonies, and so the Virginia governor’s action amounted to an attempt to disarm the colonial militia in a single stroke. Madison was thrilled by the confrontation between the militia and the governor, and particularly by Patrick Henry’s forcing Dunmore to compensate Virginia for the gunpowder.

The confrontation between Lord Dunmore and Patrick Henry, in the backdrop of the battles at Lexington and Concord one day prior to the Gunpowder Affair, would spur along the motion for the freemen of that state to forge a Virginia Declaration of Rights.

A reflection of the collaboration between senior statesman George Mason and the young upstart James Madison, the Virginia declaration is perhaps a more sturdy foundation for liberty in political theory than America’s eventual Bill of Rights. In particular, “the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety” is a more comprehensive manifesto for freedom than the relatively understated “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” later penned by fellow Virginian Thomas Jefferson in The Declaration of Independence.

It should be noted that in those days, Virginia was considered by the rebels to be free and independent from Britain as of May 15, 1775. While James Madison would go on to participate in the Continental Congress, witnessing the dysfunction of the Articles of the Confederation before eventually becoming the foremost luminary of The Constitution of the United States, Patrick Henry would go on to become Virginia’s first governor.

But the reason behind the words so familiar to the American ear, ringing throughout the ages in American history, was the all-too-immediate one of disarmament of American citizens. These words might as suitably be penned for the current president as the audience of the Virginia House of Burgesses whom Henry addresses (cited nearly in full because they demand to be read and comprehended):

The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

No man, Mr. President, thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss…

And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves.

Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne!

In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free — if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending — if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained — we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.

The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable — and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Where are the Patrick Henrys of today’s so-called opposition party? Where are the men of principle and persistence? But a handful, and they deserve our support. And if there are men and women lacking in the political opposition, then we must rise up and replace them!

Illegal Aliens Get Driver’s Licenses, Still Complain


This one surely belongs in the “Awwwwwwwwwwww” department. We learn that “North Carolina To Issue Illegal Immigrants Driver’s Licenses… Illegals Complain It Has A Pink Stripe On It…”

It seems that in January 2013, North Carolina was going to deny young illegal aliens who have received two-year deferrals from deportation a driver’s license. That position caused quite a row among illegal aliens. Cinthia Marroquin, an illegal alien, said, “It’s horrible. Do I even get a job? Am I going to make it? What am I going to do? You can’t really get a job, basically.”

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) had said that it would grant driver’s licenses to those who received deferred action, but the DMV, in January, sought a legal opinion from state Attorney General Roy Cooper on how the program conforms with state law.

Now we fast-forward to the present. The NC DMV is set to issue driver’s licenses to illegal aliens on March 25, but not without some complaints. A bright pink stripe and the words “No Lawful Status” has caused a controversy. Cinthia Marroquin (the same person quoted above) says that she is now worried about presenting a license declaring she has “NO LAWFUL STATUS” at a police roadblock or while writing a check at the grocery store. “A lot of us are just scared. We just want to be able to get a job and drive to work. Having that license is just going to show everybody you’re here illegally, just buying a beer or writing a check. You don’t know how people might react.”

The NC American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has weighed in on the subject – surprise, surprise. ACLU attorney Ron Pinto said, “There is simply no reason for officials to stigmatize people who are in the U.S. legally with an unnecessary marker that could lead to harassment, confusion, and racial profiling.” Concerning legality of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) aliens, NC state law says that a driver’s license will be issued to anyone who holds valid federal documentation of their “legal presence” in the United States. So, according to NC AG Roy Cooper, a Democrat, DACA aliens are here legally, that under federal law, DACA participants have a “legal presence,” even if they do not have “lawful status,” and that state law requires that DACA participants be granted licenses. Republican Gov. Pat McCrory’s administration of agreed, announcing last week the DMV would begin issuing the licenses.

The Department of Homeland Security has said it is up to each state to determine what to do. Rockingham [NC] County Sheriff Sam Page said, “If he [illegal alien] has an identification, there’s a better chance he’s going to get a citation or a warning and sent on his way versus ending up at the magistrate’s office and ending up in the local jail. This will save both the DACA immigrants and law enforcement officers time and money.”

Well, illegal aliens in NC will get driver’s licenses. But are they satisfied? To quote John Belushi on SNL, “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.” The fact that illegal aliens are getting a driver’s license is absurd enough. But to complain about it because it properly identifies their legal status is simply beyond comprehension. I guess that, for the estimated 1.8 million illegal aliens, leaving the US is simply not an option.

Dreams from my surrogate father

There have been numerous stories on the peculiar relationship between Frank Marshall Davis and President Barack Obama. There have even been reports that Frank Marshall Davis is in fact Barack Obama’s real biological father. I am not one to subscribe to conspiratorial theories. Whether or not Frank Marshall Davis is Barack Obama’s real father is not the point of this article. What is the point is there is no doubt that Frank Marshall Davis was the only father figure that Barack Obama truly had.

We have all heard the heart warming leftist propaganda story of how a Black Kenyan student and a White Kansas girl met in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii. The two fell in love and had a baby boy who later would grow up to become the most powerful man on the planet. We heard the stories of sacrifice and hardship and how Ann’s selflessness was paramount; allowing her husband to continue his education at Harvard University. How a young mixed race child made it the top with hard work and perseverance. This was the narrative the media told the masses and they believed it.

Even if Barack Obama Sr. was Barack Obama’s biological father he was not an influence on his life. He did not shape his ideological world view. He did not fill young Barack Obama’s impressionable mind with anti-American rhetoric and Communist sympathizing thoughts.

That job was given to Frank Marshall Davis.

Frank Marshall Davis was born on December 31, 1905 in Arkansas City, Kansas. He was a journalist, political activist, community organizer, poet, photographer, and pornographer. He was a writer and editor for numerous underground and Communist sympathizing newspapers including The Chicago Star and later The Honolulu Herald.

Frank Marshall Davis was also a Communist. This is not opinion. This is a fact. His Communist Party Id# was 47544. He was a radically militant Black Communist. He blamed the start of World War II on American Capitalism. He denounced the Marshall Plan calling it, “White Imperialism” and “Colonial Slavery”. He preached wealth redistribution and nationalization of industry as well as government run and controlled healthcare.

Some of his articles were titled, “Free Enterprise or Socialism?” or “Yankee Imperialism”. He was also a hypocrite. For all his inflammatory language and writings aimed at the oppressive White people most of his closest friends were indeed White; including his pot smoking buddy and Barack Obama’s grandfather, Stanley Dunham. But perhaps his ultimate act of hypocrisy was the fact that his second wife was actually a White woman.

Frank Marshall Davis was such a threat to America’s interests and its security that the Federal Bureau of Investigations had a 601 page file on him and even classified him as an “Index A”. This meant that if in fact a military crisis should occur that he was to be immediately targeted for detainment.

This poor excuse for an American citizen was also the current leader of the free world’s biggest influence and mentor, our President Barack Obama.

Frank Marshall Davis was more than a mentor; he was like a father to a young Barack and helped shape his world views. He mentored Barack Obama in a child’s most formative years from age 11 to 18. It is in this period of Barack Obama’s life that he became less and less Barack Obama and more and more Frank Marshall Davis.

Those were the years under the sun drenched skies of Hawaii where Frank Marshall Davis taught Barack Obama about the things that would later shape and define who he is and what he believes. This is where he first learned about Black Liberation Theology and Militant Black Power. This is where he was taught to always be skeptical of Whites and to see himself as a victim of White America. This is where he embraced the theory of redistribution of wealth and class warfare. This is where Frank Marshall Davis instilled his Communistic ideology into his young pupil.

Barack Obama’s 1995 autobiography, Dreams from My Father really should have been called Communist Teachings that Frank Marshall Davis taught me. That would have been a more appropriate title. It is no secret that “Frank” was mentioned in his book 22 times, and the “Frank” in the book is in reference to Frank Marshall Davis.

Here are some of those excerpts:

Obama’s grandmother, (Toot) and grandfather, (Gramps) were having an argument over whether Gramps should give Toot a ride to work after being threatened at a bus stop by a panhandler. He looks to Frank for a solution. (p. 89-91)

When Toot is having difficulty convincing a drug abusing Obama to apply for college, it is Frank who convinces Barack that college is necessary. (p. 96-98)

Frank Marshall Davis tells Barack that “Black people have a right to hate Whites. (p. 91) He advises a young Barack to “keep his eyes open” and “stay awake” otherwise you could be “trained” against your own interests. (p. 97)

Obviously Barack Obama took his mentor’s advice to heart. In Dreams from My Father Barack Obama writes, “I chose my friends carefully. I chose the more politically active Black students, the foreign students, the Chicanos, the Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk rock performance poets.” (p. 100)

The leftist media never did their due diligence in exposing the relationship between an admitted Marxist Communist and Barack Obama. They never bothered to even ask Barack Obama any tough questions, while vilifying his Republican challengers and humiliating them for their Conservative beliefs. If the leftist media even had a shred of objectivity Barack Obama would have never even been a Senator much less the President.

So now it is plain to see why he refuses to put his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. Or why instead of trying to fix the country’s economic problems he instead has opted to make them worse by forcing government run healthcare down our throats.

Whether or not Frank Marshall Davis is Barack Obama’s biological father at this point is somewhat irrelevant. What is relevant however is the undeniable fact that Barack Obama undoubtedly sympathizes with Communistic ideology. The truth is the only real father figure Barack Obama has had was Frank Marshall Davis. It is for this reason that he is Barack Obama’s father.

Texas school forces students to recite Mexican pledge

One student in a Texas high school is taking legal action after she said she was reprimanded for not participating in a class recitation of the Mexican pledge of allegiance and national anthem.
Fifteen-year-old Brenda Brindson’s suit, filed by the Thomas More Law Center, contends administrators violated her constitutional rights by forcing her to salute a foreign nation’s flag.
While the same school district has a written policy against coercing students to recite either the American pledge of allegiance or the U.S. Declaration of Independence, somehow verbally expressing loyalty to another nation is compulsory.
Richard Thompson, president of the TMLC, said this incident is indicative of “a sad trend in public schools across our nation to undermine American patriotism,” though he said he finds it “encouraging to see students like Brenda stand up for America despite pressure from school officials.”
Such pressure reportedly included Brindson’s teacher issuing her a failing grade on the assignment and forcing her to listen to a wave of schoolmates pledge allegiance to Mexico.
According to her lawsuit, Brindson even tried to compromise with her teacher, requesting to instead salute the American flag and recite its pledge in Spanish.
The student, fluent in Spanish and the daughter of a Mexican immigrant, is a proud American and contends pledging loyalty to any other nation is unacceptable.
She gets no argument from me.

Soros’ Anti-Frack Attack in MN

George_SorosLeftwing progressive organization, Land Stewardship Project bussed in activists from rural Minnesota to lobby for a “temporary moratorium” (read: 30 year moratorium that will never go away) on silica sand mining in the state, a direct attack on the natural gas industry. The silica sand has been used for decades in hydraulic fracturing – also known as “fracking” – to safely and cleanly remove natural gas from shales deep beneath the ground.

The Land Stewardship Project is funded by the Joyce Foundation and billionaire George Soros and claims to promote “sustainable agriculture.” The group’s spokesperson wouldn’t disclose the cost of the busses or the number of passengers.

As reported by KMSP Fox 9 News, “a temporary statewide moratorium on frac sand mining in Minnesota passed the Senate Energy and Environment committee by an 8-4 vote Tuesday.”

Should the proposed legislation pass the democratically-controlled state house and senate, the very liberal governor, Mark Dayton (who benefited from a Soros-hosted fundraiser for his campaign), will promptly sign it into law, sending thousands of jobs and millions of dollars into Wisconsin and surrounding states.

“It will lock Minnesota out of the energy revolution that’s going on in the country,” says Scott Sustacek of Jordan Sands.

“Taxpayers for Common Sense” and CAGW caught lying to the Congress

Two pseudo-conservative groups’ presidents, Ryan Alexander of “Taxpayers for Common Sense” and Thomas Schatz of Citizens Against Government Waste, lied to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on February 5th.

In an attempt to fool the Congress into agreeing to deep, harmful defense cuts – whacking at the military’s muscle, not fat – they lied to the Congress by calling a host of crucial, desperately needed defense programs “waste.” This has recently become the Left’s favorite tactic in its campaign to gut America’s defense.

Instead of overtly saying “let’s disarm ourselves unilaterally and then everyone else will be nice enough to do so” or “let’s disarm ourselves; we don’t need a strong military”, most leftists – other than the most strident liberals in Congress – have shifted to labelling every defense program they oppose (i.e. the vast majority of defense programs) as “waste.”

This is supposed to justify deep, crippling defense cuts and to fool fiscal conservatives into agreeing to such disastrous cuts.

We conservatives must not be fooled by this. The vast majority of what the Left, including TCS, calls “waste”, are actually needed, well-justified defense programs – not just weapons, but also the facilities that support them and the troops.

Specifically, TCS lied to the Congress that the planned CMRR (chemical metallurgy research) facility (intended to produce plutonium pits, crucial components of nuclear warheads) and other planned nuclear facilities are “wasteful”, and that the programs targeted by TCS and POGO (which is funded by George Soros) are also “wasteful” and deserving termination (these proposals included the cancellation of the badly-needed nuclear facilities listed above). They furthermore lied that their proposals would save $800 bn (which they would not).

The reason why their claims are blatant lies is simple – because the vast majority of the defense programs they’ve targeted are not “waste”, but crucial, NEEDED, and well-justified programs. Specifically:

1) The CMRR facility is absolutely necessary to produce plutonium pits – crucial components of nuclear warheads – in sufficient quantities for America’s geriatric nuclear stockpile, which is long overdue for such modernization. The facility currently responsible for the production – the Los Alamos National Laboratory – is dilapidated beyond economic repair and in dire need of replacement, and its plutonium pit production capacity is woefully inadequate to sustain even a reduced nuclear arsenal of 1,000-1,550 warheads, let alone anything larger.

Likewise, the Uranium Production Facility is needed to produce highly-enriched uranium for America’s uranium-based nuclear warheads, at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. These two facilities are NOT anyone’s pork projects – they are urgently needed national security priorities. They were both promised by President Obama during the Senate debate on New START ratification, and the requirement that these facilities be built was included in the Senate Resolution of Ratification of New START (and is thus the law of the land). The requirement for the CMRR facility was recently reaffirmed by the entire Congress in the FY2013 National Defense Authorization Act, which passed both houses of Congress by overwhelming margins. Thus, the requirement for these facilities is the law of the land.

2) The Next Generation Bomber/Long Range Strike Bomber is an urgently needed replacement for the USAF’s B-1 and B-52 bombers, both of which have huge radar signatures and, as a result, cannot survive in anything other than benign combat environments where the only opponents are insurgents or primitive countries unable to contest airspace control. They cannot survive in any situation where the enemy has advanced (or even upgraded Soviet) air defense systems, such as the S-300, S-400, S-500, or even the SA-5 and SA-6. Any airspace defended by such systems, including that of Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela, is firmly closed to them.

Yet, the USAF has to be able to strike deeply into these countries, from over the horizon to be credible in any contingency involving them, or in nuclear deterrence scenarios. Today, its only bombers capable of that are its 20 B-2s. Such a number is woefully insufficient, due to the sheer number of targets among other things.

The requirement for an NGB has been validated by two successive Quadrennial Defense Reviews, successive Defense and Air Force Secretaries, Chiefs of Staff, other USAF generals (e.g. David Deptula and former CSAF Gen. John M. Loh), and numerous think-tanks and analysts, including the CSBA, the Heritage Foundation, and Dr Rebecca Grant. The USAF says the new bomber is an absolute requirement, that deferring or cancelling it would be “very high-risk”, and that it’s a crucial part of their mission (CSAF Gen. Mark Welsh). Indeed, the bomber is the central part of the AirSea Battle plan to defeat anti-access/area denial threats. Without the bomber, the whole plan collapses and the US won’t be able to counter such threats.

3) Kill the V-22 Osprey, which has proven itself in THREE different war theaters (Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya), saving countless lives, delivering troops and supplies into and out of combat zones and accumulating over 150,000 flight hours. Marine pilots love it; the USMC Commandant praises and supports it; and it is twice cheaper to buy and operate than its proposed replacement, the CH-53. It can fly twice farther and twice faster than any helicopter. It’s needed to replace the C-2 COD aircraft, the USAF’s CSAR helos, and the presidential helo. Yet, TCS and POGO anti-defense hacks want to kill it.

4) Permanently cut the Navy’s carrier fleet to 10 vessels (by retiring the USS George Washington in 2016 26 years early) and eliminate an entire carrier group – not just the flattop itself. This would significantly weaken the Navy and undermine its power projection capability by reducing the number of platforms serving this purpose. Only a carrier or a long-range bomber can deliver strikes against enemy targets wherever and whenever needed without host country basing. With just 10 flattops, the Navy would have no more than 5-6 available for duty globally; this means either 2 for the Persian Gulf and only 3-4 or the Pacific, or just one in the Gulf and 4-5 in the Pacific.

5) Cut the Navy’s current and planned SSBN fleet to just 8 boats, which means only 4-5 would be at sea at any given time, i.e. America’s enemies would have to sink only 4-5 of them, while the rest would be in port, being easy targets. This would gut the naval leg of the nuclear triad.

6) Eliminate the DOE’s reserve stock of highly-enriched uranium for nuclear warheads. (See above.)

7) Cancel the F-35B Marine Corps variant (along with the Navy’s C variant), leaving the Marine Corps with no attack jets to fly from the Navy’s small carriers (amphibious assault ships) when its Harriers retire. As USMC Commandant Gen. Amos has said, this would cut the Marine’s combat aviation power by 50%!

8) Closing the Army’s tank production line in Lima, OH… when the Army’s Abrams tanks need refurbishment and upgrade, and when the Army plans to reopen the line in 2017 to produce Ground Combat Vehicles.

9) Withdrawing the remainder of US troops from Europe and laying them off (i.e. more jobless, homeless veterans), thus cutting the force structure further and significantly undercutting the military’s power projection capability, because units based in-theater, closed to the combat zone or area of action, are much CHEAPER to deploy and operate, and can react much faster and more effectively, than units based in the CONUS. (Similarly, one warship based in-theater, e.g. in Europe or Japan, is worth four warships based in the CONUS.) The principal reason why is precisely because they’re based in-theater – they don’t have to waste money and time flying in from the CONUS and then returning to the CONUS.

10) “Freeze” funding for the Ground-Based Midcourse Missile Defense system protecting the US from ballistic missile attack and not build any more such interceptors or siloes for them – whether in the US or anywhere else. This would leave the US totally unprotected from any ICBMs Iran fields in the future (it is projected to field them by 2015-2016).

These are just the most damaging, most crippling of the defense cuts that POGO and TCS have proposed. Implementing them would gut the military and make it unable to counter anti-access/area-denial threats – the most pervasive and ubiquitous threats the US faces today – because TCS and POGO have targeted the very weapons and capabilities needed to counter these threats.

Meanwhile, CAGW’s Thomas Schatz, while also lying that “the Pentagon is rife with waste, fraud, and abuse”, specifically targeted the Medium Extended Area Defense System (MEADS) for killing (the DOD has agreed but wants to complete the R&D phase so as not to leave taxpayers with no return on their investment).

While MEADS’s opponents falsely claim that MEADS would be ineffective and unneeded, it IS very much needed and has passed its tests. It is needed to replace the woefully obsolete PATRIOT system, whose radar can look only at 90 degrees, not all around itself (360 degrees) and has been less than spectacularly effective. Moreover, despite Schatz’s lies that MEADS program partners Italy and Germany wouldn’t mind if the US quit the program, the truth is exactly the opposite: their governments just recently sent the US government a letter warning the US not to withdraw from the MEADS program.

In other words, the claims of TCS and CAGW and their presidents about defense spending are blatant lies. By lying to the Congress, they have committed a serious offense, and they should be prosecuted and severely punished for it.
