Is the rest of the quote “and with that assurance, the collection plates will overflow”? I’m right off the bat, Acknowledging that many unemployed have a very difficult time in finding jobs equal to ones lost right off. I am speaking of the majority that are making a vocatin of ‘entitlement living” & rapidly finding reasons to slack off looking as the urgency of an income is lessened. Unemployment, food stamps & all that goes with it are NOT intended to ‘support for life’ on the back of others. It is a band aide, not major surgery…It does nothing overall to encourage or motivate working. This is putting the money on the wrong end. Living on less often means doing with less is verging on become the ‘norm’. IF highter taxes are to be levied, lets use it to ‘create’ jobs. Of course our social services are some of the entitlements that need addressing. I am a college graduate, have worked in upper management of large companies, I had 3 children as a single parent when Unemployment hit 14% in Arizona when my job evaporated, before it all ws said & done, I worked ‘assembled’ water cooler panels at night & did damage retoration cleaning PT four days a week. There was no room for ‘attitude’ or entitlement..guess what, it didn’t cost the taxpayer a dime. I’m just saying ‘if there’s a will, there is generally a way.” & not looking for kudos as many did/do the same. Good ole Mother Necessity” was one heck of a motivator.
