UNC’s new literature professor penned porno poems – about students

It often seems as though public universities are trying to prove how open-minded they are by hiring the most fringe, perverted professors they can find.

Such is the case with a recent addition to the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s English department. A new literature professor is also the author of explicit and pornographic poems, featuring one passage told in the first-person account of “Prof. Poon-Tang.”

After asking, “Who would say No to a gang-bang” or “scholarly toungin’,” the president of a fictionalized university concludes, “Thank you fathers for your daughters.”

Describing the entire collection of poetry his “book-length ode to the adult film star affectionately referred to as ‘the anal queen,’” the current UNC professor has no qualms about writing content many of his students’ parents would find reprehensible.

One of his other published works, for example, contains what he calls “21 of the filthiest limericks [he] could think to write.”

Universities are not generally very nurturing to those with traditional values, but I would imagine there are more than a few parents who would strongly object to their teenagers – male or female – being exposed to this man’s instruction.

A member of the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy wrote a response to the controversial hire, advising parents to “think twice about placing their impressionable offspring into the hands” of both the professor and his UNCW “colleagues who found him to be acceptable.”

He went on to call the professor “lascivious” and portions of his writing “disturbing and predatory.”

In an attempt to defend the choice, a statement from the university said he was hired “based on his record of scholarship, experience, subject matter expertise, and references,” explaining “some may disagree” with the subject matter in his poems but they “constitute protected speech.”

That statement, while factual, does not make it appropriate for a state university to subject its students to the mind that created such filth.
