2016: Obama’s America Was No.1 At Box Offices Friday

Dinesh D‘Souza’s documentary on President Obama, “2016: Obama’s America” began playing nationwide on Friday, playing in 1,090 theatres, and it opened as the #1 movie in domestic box offices, Deadline reports.

2016 is only playing in a third of the theaters that some big budget, box office hits are playing in, such as The Expendables 2, which is playing in 3,335 theaters. 2016 is a documentary where D’Souza travels around the world, retracing the steps of Obama as a youth, and it is surely showing promise with Americans. Rocky Mountain Pictures released the documentary.

2016: Obama’s America

The Expendables 2 will likely finish at the top of the box office at the end of the weekend, but 2016 will likely hold its own only falling a spot or two on the list. It is expected to make between $4-$5 million dollars by the end of the weekend.

Deadline had the exclusive on this report:

The Stallone picture from Millenium/Lionsgate is still expected to end the weekend #1 and should top the box office tonight. And, based on matinee trends, 2016 Obama’s America looks to gross $1.2M-$1.7M Friday for a $3.7M-$5.0M weekend.

But right now it has grossed $700,000 today compared to $300,000 for The Expendables 2. Its new cume after this weekend could make it the #1 conservative documentary (ahead of Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed’s $7.7M). The success of the anti-Obama pic is based on big pre-sales leading into the Republican National Convention August 27-30, and exhibitors are reporting busloads of filmgoers arriving at theaters around the country in pre-organized trips. It also employed much of the same marketing techniques used to garner attention and support for faith-based films, understandable since the audience is overlapping. Its campaign included advertising nationally over the past two weeks on talk radio and cable news channels including Fox News Channel, A&E, History and MSNBC.

Both online ticket-sellers Fandango and MovieTickets.com showed advance buying for 2016 Obama’s America were accounting for 35% to 28% respectively before this weekend. The pic is based on conservative author and commentator Dinesh D’Souza’s New York Times bestselling 2010 book The Roots Of Obama’s Rage and co-directed by D’Souza and John Sullivan and produced by Academy Award winner Gerald R. Molen (co-producer of Schindler’s List). It opened on July 13th in a preview on a single screen in Texas grossing almost $32,000 during its opening weekend, then expanded into 61 theaters including New York and Los Angeles. In August, the film widened to 169 theaters nationwide and expanded again this weekend. “Yes, I also didn’t believe it when I first saw the film taking off in pre-sales on Tuesday,” an exhibition insider tells me. “Because there’s not a lot of new product that’s taking off.”

GoldwaterGal Gives 405 Radio Listeners an Earful on Akin

GoldwaterGal Liz Harrison gave a sharp, edgy interview to radio host John Grant on Saturday, who came on the 405 live show along with NewsNinja Wayne Dupree and Loudmouthed Elephant’s “Mike.” Todd Akin was slashed and burned by GoldwaterGal, who has no love lost for social conservatives.

Campaign vet Harrison took Akin to task for allowing his son to help run his campaign and for making amateurish statements in the fallout of his “legitimate rape” comment. For further context of her view on the Akin situation, check out her article “Vote for Todd Akin for Senate.”

Does A High Klout Score Mean That Your Tweets Are “Good”?

For the past week, I’ve been grousing over Michael Arrington’s sudden about-face in regards to the website Klout.  For years now, Arrington has been happy to relegate Klout to the pile of irrelevance, and I was in agreement with him.  But then he released this blog post last week that not only says he “likes” Klout now, but he’s also invested in the company.  I lamented so much that I spent 20 minutes complaining about it on last Saturday’s show.  I then called into Michelle Ray’s show last night and lamented again.

The reason is this, and it’s a simple one:  Klout cannot determine whether tweets are “good” or not, and a lot of people seem to get the idea that it can.  The service claims to measure how much influence you have, but all it really does is measure how many people reply to you on a social network site.

Users might think that a high Klout score means that they’re important or influential or that they say really good things, but all it really means is that people respond to them on sites like Twitter and Facebook.  And in a lot of ways, it rewards bad behavior.

Don’t believe me?  Below is the Klout score of a notorious (and some would say racist) troll on Twitter.  This is a man who has a relatively small number of followers, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks he contributes anything “good” to Twittter, but he has a higher score than most people I follow, and it’s only ten points off of the highest scored Conservative tweeters I know.  He did this by insulting pretty much anyone he comes across and watching his Klout score climb as they respond to his vitriol.  It’s just that easy.

This is not to say that the only way to attain a high Klout score is to spam and insult people; there are plenty of good folks on social media who contribute good things and are rewarded everyday, but it is dangerous, if not reckless to conflate high(er) Klout scores with good tweeting, or even good behavior.  We have to use our brains and try to keep track of the worthwhile tweeters, ourselves.  We can’t just assume that high scores equal good contributors.

It’s not just trolls you have to consider, either.  Another reason that Klout can’t be trusted as the end all be all and arbiter of who is a good tweeter is that it has no way of knowing which tweeters have been blacklisted.  I discussed blacklisting of tweeters on Saturday’s show, but I can offer some examples here too.

Simply put, when well known or influential tweeters want to shut down someone they see as a rival, they often put out ultimatums to their followers to not retweet, follow, or reply to certain people.  While I primarily spend time in Conservative circles on Twitter, it’s not just politics where this happens.  Just today, I saw a comedian discussing how comedians put the same kind of pressure on people in their circles to freeze rival comedians out.  I’m sure this takes place in plenty of demographics on social media, but Klout has no way of knowing when this has happened to someone.  As such, Klout can never be trusted as a tool to point you to the “good” people on social media.  It can only point you to who is “popular”.  And a lot of people have become “popular” by either trolling or being manipulative.  Again, a higher Klout score does not mean that the person or their content is any “good”.

So what do we do?  Should we dismiss Klout altogether?  That’s a tough question.  Because even if Klout did perfectly determine who was providing good content, you’d be doing yourself, and everyone else, a disservice by using it to discriminate in favor of or against people based solely on a Klout score.  In my gut, I feel that there could be good uses for a site like Klout, but when pressed to tell you some of what they might be, I come up empty.  So, as things stand, I can’t recommend the use of Klout as tool for determining good tweeters or content, but I’m not ready to completely give up on the site either.  My advice is to take Klout scores with a grain of salt, or better yet, a ten pound bag.  We still have to determine where good content is coming from for ourselves.

2016: D’Souza’s Vision of America under President Barack Obama

(Trailer of 2016: Obama’s America by Dinesh D’Souza based on his books “Obama’s America, Unmaking the American Dream” and “The Roots of Obama’s Rage”.)

Dinesh D’Souza speaking at CPAC 2012.

Dinesh D’Souza’s new movie 2016: Obama’s America opened in local theaters here in my home town of Rochester, Minnesota and was practically sold out its first night. While D’Souza doesn’t introduce any one fact that I had not already heard, he skillfully gathers all the facts together into one place creating a complete mosaic that explains the odd and mystifying behavior of the nation’s first African-American President.

D’Souza is a foreign-born Indian-American and conservative commentator and writer who is currently the President of King’s College in New York City. I have one of his books on my shelf, “What is so Great About Christianity”. The movie is based on two of his books exploring the life of Barack Obama and his odd affinity to a father he never really knew, Barack Obama Sr. D’Souza paints a great picture in the movie of the framing of Barack’s identity as a person and explains his actions as President of the United States. According to D’Souza, Obama is like his father in that he is a radical leftist anti-colonialist who seeks to downgrade American Greatness as revenge for all of the ills brought upon the third world in his view by the West. His policies, D’Souza says, goes beyond the leftist thinking of past liberal American Presidents like Carter and Clinton, and even Kennedy and can only be explained through the radical socialist, anti-colonialist prism. The president’s first action, the mystifying act of returning the bust of Winston Churchill to the Brits is a subconscious expression of Obama’s anti-colonial views. Churchill is the quintessential icon of the West and Colonial Powers.

I liked the way D’Souza brought all the elements together in the movie, especially his in person interviews with people who contributed to the book. The most interesting of those interview was the one with Barack Obama’s half-brother George, who had been living in a hut in Africa. A clip of that interview can be found here. George has apparently written a book in which he states that he does not blame the west for Africa’s problems and points out that where countries have had the continued influence of the United States and the West, those countries have flourished, while those nations which have removed their colonial occupiers have suffered under failed socialist policies.

If left to his own devises and re-elected, D’Souza implies that America circa 2016 under the leadership of Barack Obama will be quite different than the America of today, an America in economic decline, no longer a first world superpower, but more like a nation of the third world. D’Souza doesn’t politicize the movie, he makes no recommendations about the upcoming elections, nothing is said overtly about the challenger, but it is pretty clear what is implied, a new regime with someone else at the helm.

I recommend everyone watch this movie where they can find it. It has a limited run, only two days in my city, so set time aside to see it, or better yet, read D’Souza’s books. I would also like to note that there were not a lot of people under the age of 40 at the theater. That is a sad commentary in itself. If you have young adult relatives or teens in your home, bring them kicking and screaming to this movie. They can go see Batman later. Another sad commentary on my evening at the movies: one of Rochester PD’S finest guarding the lobby. The times we live in I’m afraid.

Obama Lobbies Eurozone To Keep Greece In Until After Election

Here’s a hot one. In the “It’s all about me” department, President Barack Hussein “kill list” Obama has asked the Eurozone to keep Greece in it until after the US election in November. Why, you ask? Obama thinks that his reelection chances will be harmed because of what will happen to US and world stock markets if Greece is expelled from the Eurozone.

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras traveled to Berlin on August 24 to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He is scheduled to meet with French President Françoise Hollande on August 25. In both meetings he is expected to ask that Greece be given four years instead of the agreed upon two years to get their financial house in order. Wolfgang Schäuble, German Finance Minister, said it has been only months since creditors drew up a second bailout package and agreed on a massive debt write-down for Greece.

International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB), and the European Commission (EC) representatives are due to arrive in Athens in September to assess Greece’s finance reform efforts. They are expected to report to Eurozone finance ministers on October 8. The finance ministers will decide on whether to disburse Greece’s next €31 billion financial aid package. Obama is worried because if the finance ministers decide Greece has not done enough to meet its deficit reduction target and withholds the money, it would mean Greece’s exit from the Eurozone only weeks before the Presidential election.

European leaders are thought to be sympathetic to Obama’s lobbying, fearing that, under pressure from Republicans, Mitt Romney would be a more isolationist president than Obama.

So Obama wants the Eurozone to take, or at least delay, a financial hit to better his reelection chances. Is that chutzpah, or what?

But that’s just my opinion.

Reasons Liberals Support Gay Marriage

Ever since Joe Biden, and President Obama came out in support of Gay Marriage, there has been a rush by pundits to slobber all over the first president to support gay marriage.  Their “thrill up the leg” support over President Obama and his side-kick Biden continues to grow every day as these pseudo-intellectuals use this issue as a wedge to divide Americans right before the November election.  Now the Eric Holder’s Injustice Department has jumped into the mud slinging to prove that he and his department will not be left out of this issue.  At a speech in Washington Thursday, Eric Holder told the crowd of LGBT supporters that, “As an American, I am deeply proud to stand with you and celebrate the remarkable, once unimaginable progress that — particularly over the last three-and-a-half years — your leadership and coordinated efforts have helped to bring about.”

The fact that we have a White House, a Justice Department, and a large swath of the media fighting to see who can support a certain group of Americans over the rest, is insulting and disgusting, as it should be to ever American.  Many Politicians and media pundits from the left have been preaching tolerance, while using intolerance and bigotry to marginalize and demonize anyone who disagrees with them. What ever happened to “judge a man by his character?”  or “love thy neighbor?” how about, we do not put the sexual preference of an individual over the fact that they are a human being, and treat them equally under process of our system, instead of creating new and special laws for them to live, that will only create more of a divide among Americans, creating more and more problems for any politician to capitalize on.  One politician who came out in support of gay marriage was President Obama.  President Obama ONLY came out in support of gay marriage for one reason, and one reason only, to try and get the vote of every gay person in America, period.  Those who are going to vote for President Obama over this issue only, obviously do not care about the rest of the issues that are facing our nation. Then, again if the government is encouraging everyone to have sex with everyone and providing “free” contraception, no one will need a job because the government will abort your child, raise your child, along with food stamps to provide for that child.  Those individuals who choose to elevate their sexual orientation above national finances, national security, and many more pressing issues, must be looking for a free ride, and/or only care about themselves and no one else in this great nation.

Those who are in support of gay marriage on the left are using this issue to not only separate Americans from Americans, they are using it as a means to an end, which is to win this next election.  The left could care less about an individual person, if that were the case, they would promote individual liberty, private property rights, freedom, constitutionalism, not collectivism.  If the left could hand out crack cocaine, needles, heroin, alcohol and other drugs in order to win votes they would.  Further more, if they believed it would actually win them elections they would promote government programs to supply these drugs to the population and claim they are doing it for the “good of the community.” In order to keep themselves in power and continue to grow the government the left has to justify every behavior, every action as a “right” as something that human beings cannot live without, like handing out contraception and claiming that by not having the government pay for it, it violates some sort of female right to protect their bodies.  How about not having sex for a night and read a book?

The only way the left can win is by government force, their only solutions always result in some sort of government program, government initiative , and just more government that will empower more government and claim its all for the “good of the people.”  While not even mentioning that by creating more government, they forget to inform the citizen they are creating the free program for, that taxes will have to be raise in order to pay for that “free” program.  At some point the American population will wake up and realize that much of what has come out of Washington has been a “big lie,”

And I look forward to all we will surely accomplish together.”

~~Eric Holder, Thursday in Washington, speaking before a LGBT crowd.

Think Football Would Be Left Alone by the Radical Left? Not For Long.

The American Spectator recently pointed out that football has become “the new smoking.” If only the scourge of leftism were that toxic.

No, it’s much, much worse than that. Football represents a complete affront to the entire project of radicalism, which decades ago spread to our universities, schools, entertainment, and legal professions.

The last remaining conservative bastions — the military and professional sports — are presently under assault by leftists who cannot stand to leave these exemplars of patriotism and capitalist competition alone. So football fans better keep their heads on a swivel.

There is practically nothing more conceivably antithetical to the left’s worldview than American football. This makes it a sitting target, kind of like Barack Obama coming across the middle on James Harrison. [How would Obama talk his way out of the reality that he would get smoked?] The left is therefore working to co-opt the NFL and put it in the service of its political agenda.

Wild accusations? Unfounded speculation? Let’s look at what is happening under Roger Goodell, who is not only wussifying the league, but has moved the NFL seasons’s opening date this year to accommodate the Democrat convention speech of America’s royal majesty Barack Obama. As if a Republican would ever get such a courtesy.

The Obama administration earlier partnered with the National Football League with a “United We Serve” campaign that cross-promoted fitness and “service.” One might object that the NFL has partnered with “charitable” organizations in the past. The league has maintained a long and mutually beneficial relationship with The United Way. But United We Serve is no charitable organization, it is a political ploy designed to get Americans used to the well-established lefwing dream of everyone working for free. Sounds like slavery – with a smile.

For those who believe this is no more than right-wing pontification, observe the language on the White House “blog” describing United We Serve: “It’s going to take all of us working together to build a new foundation for America and it will happen one community at a time.” Yeah, kind of like Obama’s former community organizing outfit ACORN — why would the NFL want a piece of that action?

There is always the possibility that the NFL is simply clueless and sees nothing wrong with inviting a politically divisive figure to serve as representative of the league. Then again, the political correctness police banned Rush Limbaugh from partial ownership of the St. Louis Rams. And remember how Hank Williams Jr. was banned from Monday Night Football for his anti-Obama rant? Are you ready for some fascism?

Then we have numerous subtle assaults on the game, such as the attempt to protect football players from the real effects of concussions, as if NFL players have no choice how they use their bodies for a living (i.e. violently, while making millions of dollars). Again, there is the subtle message that contracts are coercive instruments of owners and not voluntary agreements between individually responsible adults.

But let’s get down to brass tacks. The political left is targeting the NFL and watering down its cultural significance with the leftist ethic of altruism, because the NFL represents a defiance of the socialist narrative virtually en toto. Is it really necessary to make 300 pound football players wear pink wristbands and ribbons for a month to show solidarity with breast cancer victims? Just cut a check for a million dollars and be done with it. Besides, it’s not like prostate cancer isn’t afflicting hundreds of thousands of men.

Sorry, I’ve been a football fanatic my whole life, and I know bullshit when I see it. My first words in life (no joking) were “football you bet.” I know the game. I know the political left. And I know when the latter is mucking up the former, just like it does everything else.

Professional football is an inherently conservative institution. Teaching both individual greatness and teamwork, football brings out the best in men through competition. Heck, most NFL franchise owners are conservative and donate Republican, which is no fait accompli in this crony capitalist climate. But is very ironic and disappointing that Republicans will be holding their convention in a 62% government-funded arena while chanting the slogan “We Built This.” Yet as any political observer nowadays can figure out, conservative and Republican are not even close to being the same thing. But on to the bigger picture.

Does anyone think that leftists fail to grasp how important professional football is to American culture? The NFL has all the traits that effete modern liberals despise. There is capitalism, manliness, and competition – making the league a perennial institution of solid American values so provocative that neomarxist shock-troops cannot help but try to co-opt it.

Best of all, in football results matter. This makes a football game a test of two teams: There is a superior team and an inferior team on any given Sunday. This black or white, up or down way of evaluating superiority clashes mightily with the left’s morally relativist worldview.

The National Football League is also a powerful indictment of the Marxian myth that there are two classes in a capitalist society, the haves and the have-nots, and that the former class unremittingly and perpetually exploits the latter. Professional football players come from all socioeconomic backgrounds (in fact usually lower and middle class ones) and they work their butts off to make the most of their talent; there is no free ride, and no excuses here.

The NFL, without any affirmative action policy and simply through the standard of open competition, confirms an argument that conservatives have been making for years: That a true market is colorblind. In the NFL, the rule is simple: Either you are a great football player or you are a fan.

Football players sell themselves and their unique set of skills to the NFL – and if successful, they become millionaires. The ultimate reason they become millionaires? Because the middle class has the time, the technological means, and the money to financially support the game.

The NFL constitutes a running threat to the leftist narrative. The leftwing march through all the institutions of the culture in order to subvert the economy continues, and professional sports is merely the last of American bastions to resist the left’s creeping program.

Here’s a hail Mary, keep the ubiquitous President Obama and his socialist program out of my Sundays. If you think Tea Party activists are bad, you haven’t seen thirty thousand rabid Kansas City Chiefs tailgaters.

What’s the Future of the Middle East?

For those who support the institutionalized “progressive” left’s or Ron Paul’s positions on foreign policy, consider these perspectives expressed in an article posted August 24, 2012 on pravda.ru:

“With the beginning of the Islamic awakening movement in the Middle East, the United States and its allies in the region, fearing the increasing waves of anti-American and anti-Zionist sentiments, tried to insinuate to the world a false interpretation of this movement…

The Zionist regime of Israel has the world’s largest network of state terrorism and has committed numerous crimes in the countries of the region, including the killing of the people of Gaza, the assassinations of resistance forces in different countries and assassinations of nuclear scientists of the Islamic Republic of Iran…

The West is forced to revise its policy of unilateral and unfair support to the Zionist regime. They are well aware that the popular uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa began thanks to Islamic awakening and they have an anti-Zionist character. This region will never reflect Zionist domination in the future…

Today, with the removal of the ruling dictators in some countries in the region that were in legion with the Zionist regime, the people of the region are screaming that the installation of the Zionist regime has no legitimacy on Palestinian territory, even if it is the size of the palm of the hand…

Now, an historic opportunity has arrived, the sovereigns in the world should take advantage and set history in the right direction, take away the invader of the scene and return the homeland to the Palestinians”

These proclamations made by an Iranian ambassador make crystal clear the intentions of the Islamist/Fascist Iranian regime and their allies towards Israel, the United States and Western Civilization.  To knowingly and willfully ignore this clarion call to defend the Western/Judeo/Christian world approaches sedition, especially in light of the fact that this statement was published by Russia’s Pravda, almost certainly with the approval of President Vladimir Putin’s Russian government.

When Ron Paul believes that Mutual Assured Destruction will deter Iran from attacking Israel and its western allies, he displays naïveté to the differences between the Communist atheist belief that there is no afterlife and it is in their best interests to avoid the termination of their worldly existence in a nuclear exchange, and an Islamist/Fascist State that reverently believe in the Mahdi, the 12th Imam of Shi’ite lore, and therefore considers it preferable to die as martyrs than to share the planet with the Western/Judeo/Christian world.

It was disturbing enough when the current White House occupant stabbed former Soviet bloc countries turned American allies Poland and the Czech Republic in their backs when he unilaterally cancelled missile defense shield deals they had made with the previous administration.  That occupy Oval Office was also so eager to abandon national security in favor of nuclear disarmament that he would voluntarily declassify the number of nuclear warheads the U.S. possesses demonstrates a dereliction of duty on his part as Commander in Chief of the United States of America.

Mitt Romney recently outlined plans that will make America energy independent through development of its own abundant natural resources and less susceptible to an increasingly aggressive Iran’s impact on Middle East petroleum delivered through the Straits of Hormuz.

Romney has consistently condemned Iran for developing a nuclear bomb-capability.  When referring to Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s statements against Israel Romney has said “There is one place of course where I’d welcome Ahmadinejad with open arms, and that’s in a court where he would stand trial for incitement to genocide, under the terms of the Genocide Convention.”

Romney also correctly identifies the threat posed to the west by Islamist/Fascist jihad as “the defining challenge of our generation.”

Contrary to the opinion of Ali Mohaghegh, the future of the Middle East is not carved in stone, it is still being written.  How the next chapter reads depends largely on who is elected as the next President of the United States.

D’Souza Delivers: 2016 Review

I have a confession to make. Until quite recently in my life I have been a conspiracy nut. I love conspiracy theories to this day. One of my favorite shows is Ancient Aliens on the “History” Channel, which regularly asserts cover-ups on a global scale of alien intervention on our planet. I’ve been a conspiracy nut since I was a child. Having always had a flair for the dramatic, I would say I was quite prone to believing most stories told with passion and fear. Although I was older (10 years old) when I finally met my father he had a profound influence on my thinking. My father may be one of the smartest men I’ve ever known. He also believes there is a planet just beyond Pluto that harbors an alien race that is bent on infiltrating Earthly society. He’s not crazy, but he believes crazy stuff and can quote you a lot of solid research to back it up. I always pretty much believed everything he said, and it sparked my own interest in the world of conspiracy theories.

I’ve since moved on from that stage in my life (how is another story for another day), but I say all this to tell you that it was my sordid history with conspiracy theories that made me nervous to go see Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary Obama’s America: 2016. I worried that it would be full of conspiracy rhetoric and my old self might not be able to resist the temptation to connect Kennedy’s assassination or the Holy Grail to our current Commander-in-Chief. I was worried I might not be able to look at the film with reason. I needn’t have worried. 2016 is not a conspiracy film by any stretch of the imagination. It most certainly does tell a sordid tale of the man who would become our first Black President, but it does not rely on the stretches and leaps we’ve seen from the birther movement or the Coast to Coast crowd.  Instead, D’Souza paints us a picture of our 44th President. He traces his roots; back to Hawaii, his time in Indonesia and the people who shaped his life. D’Souza, though soft-spoken and seemingly easy-going, is thorough and relentless in his investigation. He begins with Obama’s childhood in Indonesia and then takes the audience through a more in-depth look at the men who shaped his views on life. D’Souza asks the question-  if we are all shaped by our past, how has Obama’s past shaped him, and how have we seen that reflected in the decisions he has made for our country as our President?

Obama’s father was a communist; a distant but idealized figure in his life. As my own father shaped my views early in my life, so did Obama’s shape his.  If Obama’s father was an anti-colonial communist, how did that affect Obama himself? D’Souza uses Obama’s own words from “Dreams From my Father” to bring the point home. On an emotional trip back to Kenya Obama visited the graves of his father and grandfather, sitting between them and weeping for a time. When he was finished, Obama says he felt relieved, as if he had “closed the circle”. Their struggle had become his “birthright”. Remember, his father was a communist and staunch anti-colonialist.

Although in may seem strange in print, when considering Obama’s past and the present path he has this country on it is difficult to deny the intimate connection. D’Souza connects the dots with clarity and reason, but also by using his own life and his own direction as a touchstone for making those connections. Wonder why Obama’s first act was to return the bust of Churchill? Wonder why he has agreed to reduce our warhead stockpile from 7,000 to 300? Wonder why he constantly talks about “fair share”? As historian Daniel Pipes tell us, “He doesn’t think well of the United States”, and that is reflected in his policies.

I’ll refrain from making all the connections for you. D’Souza does that much more interestingly in less than two hours. Besides the actual content of the film the filmmaking itself was adequate, although not superior. A particularly emotional scene with Obama’s younger brother George will put a lump in your throat, but it’s not as slick as a Stephen Bannon film and not as smarmy as a Michael Moore production. However, 2016 makes its point and makes it well. The production itself may have been more well suited to the television format, but obviously a theatrical release makes more of an impact. And make an impact it has indeed. The film, which launched in only 400 theaters nationwide has placed third at the box office this week so far – an astonishing accomplishment for a documentary, let alone a conservative one.

D’Souza has created an informative, thought-provoking piece of work that will inspire viewers to examine their own pasts and influences in their lives and how those have worked to create who they are today. The conclusion is not very comforting, but the film does leave us with this thought: the answer to America’s woes will never be found in just one person, it will be found in WE the people.

Women Not Allowed

As I watched the news recently, a big news update appeared on the screen, Augusta National allows women after 80-year history. I started thinking, what is so terrible about men having a place of their own? I mean, come on, really. Why is it so bad for men to have a place that they can call their own, where they can talk men talk, and do men things without having to watch what they say or do because women might be around, is that such a crime?  Let’s face it, men cannot be true men with women hanging around, we have to watch everything we do and say. In reality, men are just little boys at heart.

On the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City, where I am from, there is an Ale House called McSorley’s I think it is the oldest Ale House in the country, opening in the 1850’s. I started going there in the late 1960’s, and at the time women were not allowed in. It’s been that way since they first opened their doors. The 1960’s was about the time when they started to make laws that women must be allowed everywhere that men are. The owner fought to keep it a place for men, now the funny part was that the owner was a woman at the time. In an interview she said, “Men need a place where they can be men” (it makes sense to me) but as we know, she lost her fight. At the time they only had one bathroom, that was fun.

In addition, we used to have Boys Clubs, a place where boy’s can go and play like boy’s and do things that boys like to do. Once again they pass a law that says that cannot be, so now we have Boys and Girls Clubs. Once again, I must ask, what is wrong with boys having a place that they can call their own? Is there really something wrong with that? If there is, I just don’t see it. Boys need to curse, and spit, and roughhouse.  They need to brag about how tough they are, and beat their chests, to show the world that they are men. That’s what boys have been doing since time began. It’s the way they come of age.

Look, you can call me a sexist or a male chauvinist pig, or anything else you want, but men and women are different and not just the obvious. The truth of the matter is, men and women are designed differently, they are wired differently, they think differently, they feel differently, they react differently, they are just different.

Here are some examples:

Mazda Miata, gals car

Pontiac GTO, guys car

Virginia Slims, gals cigarette

Marlboro, guys cigarette

Mama Mia, gals movie

Terminator, guys movie

Life Time, gals T.V.

Ultimate Fighting, guys T.V.

Remember, girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. And boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails.

If men and women want to have clubs together, that’s great, also, if men want to have their own clubs or women want to have their own clubs, that should also be great, remember one size does not fit all. I think somewhere in the Constitution, there is something that says we have a freedom of association, do we not? So why aren’t we allowed too?

This is really not a big deal, I have no intention of protesting or marching on Washington because of it, it’s just I do not understand what the big deal is, why men can’t have a place of their own?

This is one man’s opinion.

Cook Report Renders Final Judgement, Akin Unelectable

According to Gateway Pundit, the Cook Report labeled Akin “unelectable,” clearing the way for a second term for Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.  Pundit wrote:

In four days Cook Political has moved the Missouri Senate race from “solid Republican” to“toss up” to “likely Democrat” to “unelectable”.

Cook Political Report has declared Todd Akin “unelectable” and moved the 2012 U.S. senate race in Missouri to a projected Democrat win.

Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Akin’s comment over the weekend about “legitimate rape” has rendered him unelectable in his bid against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Todd Akin is 2012’s Political Idiot Of the Year.  He faced one of the weakest Democratic incumbents and managed to blow it because he seemed to feel that fellow Missourians didn’t know his position on abortion.  Todd, Missourians know your position on that issue.  You’re a Republican! You could have pivoted away and talked about the economy, McCaskill’s faux deficit hawk narrative, her laughable statement that the Senate passed a budget, or her voting record which shows she voted with Obama 95% of the time.

Nope. You had to make some rather nonsensical comments about rape and pregnancy.  In addition, you mentioned bodily functions that the female body does not possess.  No wonder the people abandoned you.  I would too!

However, some on the right are still supporting Akin’s campaign of self-destruction.

Mike Huckabee blasted this email out today to his supporters.

The deadline came and went on Tuesday for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin to drop out over an incorrect comment he made about rape. The Republican establishment put unprecedented and intense pressure on Todd to quit, including five current and past Missouri Senators. But in an exclusive interview on my radio show, Akin said he’s “in this race to the end.” He said he admitted he misspoke and that his statement was not accurate, but he’d sincerely apologized. You can listen to the audio from that interview here.

The Party’s leaders have for reasons that aren’t rational, left him behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound. In a Party that supposedly stands for life, it was tragic to see the carefully orchestrated and systematic attack on a fellow Republican. Not for a moral failure or corruption or a criminal act, but for a misstatement which he contritely and utterly repudiated. I was shocked by GOP leaders and elected officials who rushed so quickly to end the political life of a candidate over a mistaken comment in an interview. This was a serious mistake, but it was blown out of proportion not by the left, but by Akin’s own Republican Party. Is this what the party really thinks of principled pro-life advocates? Do we forgive and forget the verbal gaffes of Republicans who are “conveniently pro-life” for political advantage, but crucify one who truly believes that every life is sacred?

Who ordered this “Code Red” on Akin? There were talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee suggesting language to urge Akin to drop out. Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees. Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out. Money has changed hands to push him off the plank. It is disgraceful. From the spotlights of political offices and media perches, it may appear that the demand for Akin’s head is universal in the party. I assure you it is not. There is a vast, but mostly quiet army of people who have an innate sense of fairness and don’t like to see a fellow political pilgrim bullied. If Todd Akin loses the Senate seat, I will not blame Todd Akin. He made his mistake, but was man enough to admit it and apologize. I’m waiting for the apology from whoever the genius was on the high pedestals of our party who thought it wise to not only shoot our wounded, but run over him with tanks and trucks and then feed his body to the liberal wolves. It wasn’t just Todd Akin that was treated with contempt by the thinly veiled attack on Todd Akin. It was all the people who have faithfully knocked doors, made calls, and made sacrificial contributions to elect Republicans because we thought we were welcome in the party. Todd Akin owned his mistake. Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it’s been handled?

I’ve always believed and still do, that if you don’t honor your friendships, you don’t honor yourself. And I consider Todd a friend. So I will join Todd as often as I can, in his fight for our Party’s pro-life policies, traditional marriage and our efforts to rein in the massive expansion of government under President Obama. Todd is being systematically scourged for one thing he said. Is that more important than what Claire McCaskill has DONE over her 6 years in the Senate? If you’d like to join the fight, and help defeat a Democrat Senator standing in the way of a conservative majority, I encourage you to join me. The party has decided it won’t help. In fact, it has decided that it will try to cut off the supply lines to Akin to pressure him to exit and let the party bosses overturn the voters of Missouri and pick their own candidate. If this can happen to Todd Akin, who is next?

I’ve heard the talk of new deadlines and the nonsense about the Republican Party running a 3rd party candidate, but I am no longer listening to that noise. The idea that our Party would continue to play games behind the scenes and feed the Democrats make-believe narrative of the GOP’s fictional war on women is equally ridiculous. Now is the time to focus on electing a conservative Senate Majority. And if the NRSC and RNC and the money-rich PACS won’t help Todd Akin get us to the majority, then we’ll do it without them. And his seat will not have been sold to the highest bidder, but obtained by the highest principles.

I like Mike Huckabee, but the assertion that you’re a RINO if you don’t support Todd Akin is absurd.  He’s going to lose.  He made statements that made the party look bad and needlessly and recklessly changed the narrative that makes liberals foam at the mouth. The Code Red was necessary.  Ace of Spades cited Jim Geraghty of National Review who wrote about Akin’s “epic denial” about his chances of winning in November.

We’ve seen this before — a candidate makes nonsensical, controversial, or self-destructive statements before the electorate, and the electorate recoils. The rest of the GOP sees signs of trouble, and starts expressing those concerns in increasing volume, but the candidate resists the urge to withdraw from the race. The candidate and the campaign insist to the rest of the party that they know what they’re doing, that the race is still winnable, and that the world will soon be shocked by a most unexpected victory. We saw it from Katherine Harris in 2006, and from Christine O’DonnellSharron Angle, and Carl Paladino in 2010.

These candidates and their teams always insist that they know better. They alwaysinsist that they have some sort of secret understanding of the race, some sort of secret game plan or strategy that will completely change the circumstances. And they always, always, always lose.
