Dan Colby, thank you for such a wonderful article of Sgt. Justin Garvey. I never got the honor to meet him except through his father, Gregg, who I met in Crawford, Texas while he, I, and others who stood up to support our troops and the sacrifices of our fallen heroes during the time Cindy Sheehan was "so called" in the ditch claiming to want to speak to President Bush while denouncing the honor and sacrifice of her own son, another fallen hero of our nation. While I didn't know Justin, his father had given me a pretty good insight of who he was and, I must admit, the fruit didn't fall far from the tree. By his father's words and actions in the short time we were together I knew Justin had to have been a man other men could and would have looked up to. His father is a man made of the same metal as his son or is it the other way around. Gregg, Justin's father, is a hero of mine and a good friend as well. The efforts Gregg has done not only to honor his son's sacrifice to our nation but in Gregg's actions to promote our freedoms and liberties all over our nation as best as he can. If you have not met Justin's father yet I hope it will not be long before you do. You will find Justin is not gone as long as those who remember him will keep him in their hearts and prayers. Thank you for your service and willingness to defend our nation. Remember, just because you are no longer in the military the oath you took to defend our nation is still as important today as it has ever been. That part that say, to defend the United States from it's enemies both foreign and domestic is more important then ever now. Many of us remember that oath and we fight on as best we can but we are growing old and the battle must be passed on to the young men who have learned that freedom isn't free in order to preserve it. God Bless You and Yours and Thank You Again. Bill

Sgt. Garvey was a wonderful person. I never met him but I do know his father. His father sent me the link for this. I know he is honored by your kind remembrance of his son. You should contact him. I can assist with that if you like. Great memory. I am glad you shared. Thank a Veteran whenever you see them.
