One thing that surprised me when we moved here to SoCal is how it is common knowledge that young girls are kidnapped frequently and sold across the border. Its one of those things other mothers warn you about when you move here. Its crazy! And its true; not just suburban paranoia. The kidnap rates for San Diego county are disturbing. Its not reported nationally because most of the victims are not American (I guess that lowers the risk of kidnapping being reported). Its frightening.
