The “Everyone Gets a Trophy” CF Bowl Game

The college football bowl season has been a long-standing mainstay of American tradition where even the most casual of sports fans gather around their TV sets over the holidays to enjoy the best college football teams from across the country engaging in exciting, highly competitive gridiron battles. Historically, the best teams in the nation are rewarded with big cash bonuses and national recognition by being selected to play in a nationally televised college football bowl game. Success was well-rewarded, resulting in fierce competition all season long just to “qualify” to play in a holiday bowl game. Sadly, in today’s molly-coddling, politically correct, competition-stifling American society, the college bowl games are now evolving into an “everyone gets a trophy and a bowl game, regardless of how poorly they performed on the field all year long” nanny-state debacle. Don’t believe it?

Introducing this year’s Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. The venue? San Francisco, the heart of the Liberal La-La land, that brought us such things as a ban on McDonald’s Happy Meals, was voted the Most Liberal County in the U.S.A , placed bans on plastic grocery bags, and gave us the biggest debt-spending Speaker of the House in U.S. history, one Nancy Pelosi ( L- La-La-Land). The oh-so-successful college teams that “earned” a slot in this year’s Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl? Illinois, with a stellar record of 6-6, and UCLA with an awe-inspiring record of.. 6-7. Meanwhile teams such as WKU (Western Kentucky University) with a winning 7-5 record were left out of the bowl season, as is written here. WKU is a small school that has been the fastest growing college in Kentucky for 13 years running, located in Bowling Green Kentucky with 21,000 students enrolled.

Both Illinois and UCLA also played in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl game this year with interim coaches, as both team’s coaches were fired at the end of this season for their teams non-performance. Illinois won the game by a score of 20-14. The Chicago Tribune summed up the Illinois football season that was rewarded with a bowl bid as follows:

Since early October, Illinois has done little else but suffer on the field and endure off-field distractions. From a fired coach to a player’s gunshot wound to a six-game losing streak to assistant coaches threatening mutiny, there had been few reasons to talk about the Illini other than their season collapse and sequence of bizarre events.

And then the LA Times shows us how UCLA was not even 2011 bowl-eligible, but received an Obama-healthcare-style waiver from the NCAA:

The 49-31 loss to Oregon in the Pac-12 title game would have cost UCLA its bowl eligibility had the Bruins not already received a waiver from the NCAA.

And then the LA Times also shows us just how historic this years UCLA Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl team truly is:” UCLA, which lost its last two games, to USC and Oregon, by a combined score of 99-31, will attempt to avoid becoming the first bowl team to finish the season with eight losses.”

Yes UCLA lost the bowl game and made history today by becoming the first bowl team in American history to finish the season with eight straight losses. So much for the college sports academics and media misfits that champion the falsehood that politics do not play a big part of college sports today. The wonderful longstanding American tradition of holiday college football bowl games has now been polluted by the “everyone gets a trophy” competition-stifling Liberal ideology, along with nanny-state wealth redistributive politics. These two schools didn’t deserve to play in a nationally televised bowl game, but it did generate a much-needed $120 million dollars in revenue for San Francisco.

Both Illinois and UCLA just happen to be located in dominantly Liberal, in-the red-budget, illegal sanctuary city promoting states. The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl was previously known as the Emerald Bowl, but changed the name to the Fight Hunger Bowl last year. Have they cured world hunger yet? Not hardly, but these liberal losing-record college football teams and their perspective states are sure raking in the big bucks by promoting this farce of a bowl game. What’s next? 1-10 Berkeley vs the 0-11 University of Chicago in the 2012 Kraft Fight Hunger bowl? The only question left to be asked, is how many tax dollars were funneled to San Francisco and Illinois for “participating in this bowl game, as is the proven pattern behind these types of innocent sounding fight world hunger and save the planet Liberal schemes.

What Does $40 per Week Mean?

Just to put things into perspective, leaving the Social Security tax as it is will increase national debt by another $120 billion, and will leave the social security trust fund even further in the red. But we are not here to discuss the effects of leaving the Social Security tax alone or not. This article deals with the disingenuousness, and down-right lying, of President Barack H. Obama and his administration.

On Thursday, December 22, 2011, Obama said, “We’ve been doing everything we can to make sure that 160 million working Americans aren’t hit with a Holiday tax increase on January First…If you’re a family making about $50,000 a year this is a tax cut that amounts to about a thousand dollars a year. That’s about forty bucks out of every paycheck.” He continued, “It may be that there are some folks in the House who refuse to vote for this compromise because they don’t think forty bucks is a lot of money. But anyone who knows what it’s like to stretch a budget knows that at the end of the week or the end of the month forty dollars can make all the difference in the world….”

Obama said, “That’s about forty bucks out of every paycheck.” But further in his speech he said, ” So on Tuesday, we asked folks to tell us what would it be like to lose $40 out of your paycheck every week.  [emphasis mine]  How did “every paycheck” get changed to “every week?” Most people get paid bi-weekly, or every two weeks. Disingenuousness, and down-right lying? Your call. Either way, he is now comparing apples to oranges. A family would have to earn $104,000 a year for Obama’s continued Social Security tax holiday to be worth $40 every week.

But did that little fact stop Obama? To quote the late John Belushi, “Noooooooooooooooooooo.” Obama then, in his speech, quoted some of the emails from his “folks” about how they would deal with the loss of $40 per week.

  • Joseph from New Jersey talked about how he would have to sacrifice the occasional pizza night with his daughters. He said – and I’m [Obama] quoting – “My 16-year-old twins will be out of the house soon. I’ll miss this.”
  • Richard from Rhode Island wrote to tell us that having an extra $40 in his check buys enough heating oil to keep his family warm for three nights. In his words – I’m [Obama] quoting – “If someone doesn’t think that 12 gallons of heating oil is important, I invite them to spend three nights in an unheated home. Or you can believe me when I say that it makes a difference.”
  • Pete from Wisconsin told us about driving more than 200 miles each week to keep his father-in-law company in a nursing home – $40 out of his paycheck would mean he’d only be able to make three trips instead of four.
  • We heard from a teacher named Claire from here in D.C. who goes to the thrift store every week and uses her own money to buy pencils and books for her fourth grade class. Once in a while she splurges on science or art supplies. Losing $40, she says, would mean she couldn’t do that anymore.
  • For others, $40 means dinner out with a child who’s home for Christmas, a new pair of shoes, a tank of gas, a charitable donation. These are the things at stake for millions of Americans. They matter to people. A lot.
  • $40 a week is the cost of my prescriptions; without these medications I would die from a stroke or heart attack.
  • $40 buys a week’s worth of the nutrient drink that my 98-year-old mother virtually survives on.
  • $40 pays for over a week of groceries, fresh fruits, veggies, dairy, whole wheat bread.

Do any of these e-mails sound like they came from someone making $104,000 per year?

There are, however, some people to whom $40 every week would be make a real difference:

  • A hotel maid who works full time for $8.50 per hour
  • A construction worker who has been cut back to half time work at $17 per hour
  • A self employed business owner whose customers were hammered by the recession and now barely survives by depleting his savings. He generated only $17,700 profit this year after paying his employees and the employer’s half of the payroll tax which was not reduced by the Obama payroll tax markdown.

To each of these people Obama’s temporary payroll tax cut is worth not $40 per week, or even $40 per paycheck, but $6.80 per week.

Much of the MSM has already begun to help Obama plant a false perception in the minds of uninformed voters that Republicans would deny everyone $40 per week. Obama knows that informed voters will figure out the lying. But he doesn’t care about informed voters. They won’t vote for him anyway.

But that’s just my opinion.

New Year’s Resolution or Grace Revolution?

There is a pretty easy explanation as to why the vast majority of New Year’s resolutions don’t make it past the fifth of January. It’s because for most of them, they are unrealistic goals motivated by a desire for radical change in one’s life. And while radical change is not necessarily a bad thing, it becomes impossible when you are trying to fit that change into a one second window between 11:59:59 on December 31st and midnight on January 1st.

The typical New Year’s battle cry, things like “I’m going to lose 50 pounds this year” or “I’m going to be a better person this year” are indeed admirable goals and I am not saying for a second that we should not set them and move toward them. What usually happens though is that at the first sign of an obstacle moving towards these goals, most people fold up like a cheap tent and say “to heck with it!” We expect ourselves to change behaviors and positions that have probably been with us for many years and we literally expect it overnight. With the deck stacked so heavily and unfairly against us, it’s no wonder why the average New Year’s resolution does not last for more than a fortnight.

The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 6:14 that “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” The “law” under the Mosaic covenant, was and is a very unforgiving thing. Paul further talks about not knowing what sin is, if it had not been for the law itself. The same is true for us today.

There are two types of citizens in our world. Simply put, there are law-abiding citizens and non-law-abiding citizens – who we like to call, criminals. In order for a person to remain a law-abiding citizen, they must, well, obey all the laws. In order to become a criminal, one only needs to break the law. So when we apply the “law” to the treatment of our New Year’s Resolutions, we are already setting ourselves up for failure. The Law is pass/fail.

You will make mistakes, hence the Grace.

Instead, we should approach January 1st from a different perspective. Yes, it’s a new year, new calendar and, it is as good a time as any to start fresh in many aspects of our lives. We should also realize that many of the bad habits we have did not develop overnight and to expect them to right themselves with the click of a clock is simply unrealistic.

Again the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” The objective is to be transformed – past tense – but the process is by the renewing – present tense – of our minds. We will always to be in the process of renewal, less about a destination and more about destiny.

With this is mind, I call on all of you to trade in the New Year’s Resolution for the Grace Revolution. The Grace Revolution is based on a complete turning over (revolution) from one state to another, but through grace, not law. It means that we need to realize going in that we will make mistakes. Expect to fall off the wagon, if fact, plan on it; and don’t just plan on it, plan FOR it.

I have taught the Dave Ramsey “Financial Peace University” course over a dozen times and one of the many things I like about it is that he makes you budget for your mistakes. He calls it “blow” money – for when you blow it. This is the grace mentality.

It’s probably no wonder why budgets and diets perish early in our list of resolutions. We don’t budget for our failures, perhaps because they have such a stigma attached to them. Yet when you look at truly successful people, you will realize that they all hold the “2,000 ways not to make a light bulb” philosophy close to them. This tenacious spirit will invariably lead to success.

So, plan for your mismanaging of the budget. Cut yourself some slack when your temperature rises a few times in traffic. Allow for habits to develop. Schedule your feasts!

Aim low and short, take baby steps and realize that some of those will be backwards. If you do this day by day, perhaps hour by hour, you will have the privilege of looking up one fine day and realizing that those distant goals that seemed so far off are within arm’s reach after all.

All children skin their knees, some of us more than others. Regardless, they all have one thing in common – they grow. That growing cannot be rushed, only time will cultivate your harvest. So, instead of being frustrated over what you may see as a lack of progress, enjoy the journey and, I bet by this time next year, many of those seemingly insurmountable mountains will have indeed been removed and cast into the sea!

To all: Happy New Year.

Obama signs defense spending bill despite reservations

President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act which includes provisions that allow the detention of U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism or planning act of terror, puts restrictions on interactions with Iran’s central bank and authorizes military spending.

Obama’s reservations were mainly reported to be around the military detention provision and a section that forces the president to consult Congress before releasing information to Russia on missile defense plans.

In the last few weeks Obama had also expressed concerns over the banking sanctions against Iran. Although no other sanctions or diplomacy have proven effective against the militant nation, the president is unsure whether these actions will have any effect on Iran’s desire to possess nuclear weapons.

Obama signed the bill while vacationing in Hawaii and issued a signing statement saying, “The fact that I support this bill as a whole does not mean I agree with everything in it.”

Happy New Years from President Obama and Speaker Boehner.

Yes, I,m writing this on New Years eve, as my party days are long behind me, and the endangered future of American exceptionalism is currently my main concern as we head into the New Year. American exceptionalism is what has brought freedom and prosperity to generations of Americans for over two centuries, yet is in danger of being wiped out due to massive big government debt-spending of irresponsible elected government officials across the land. That includes the current debt-spender-in-chief, Barack Hussein Obama.

What will 2012 bring? As Barack Obama loads up his bag of class warfare weapons and runs on the do-nothing campaign platform of Harry S. Truman to try to win re-election in the coming new year, it is only fitting to take a look back at just what has transpired during Obama’s time as President. Unlike the unproven junior Senator from Illinois who captured the White House in 2008 on an ignorance-dependent platform of undefined hope and change, Mr. Obama now has a record to evaluate.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) delivers a good bit of information on his speaker.gov blog, that highlights a few things we should all be aware of in the coming New Year which outlines exactly why President Obama should be a one term and done President:

Unfortunately, President Obama and Washington Democrats have failed to live up to their promises, piling more debt on future generations, and making it harder for the economy to create jobs. Here’s a look at the Obama Administration’s real economic record:

Persistently High Unemployment & Fewer American Jobs: 13.3 Million: Number of Unemployed Americans. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/2/11)

34: Historic Number of Consecutive Months the Unemployment Rate Has Been Above Eight Percent. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Accessed 12/27/11)

1,547,000: Number of Jobs Lost Since President Obama Took Office. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/2/11)

9.4%: Average Unemployment Rate Since the ‘Stimulus’ was Signed Into Law. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Accessed 12/27/11)

315,000: Number of Discouraged Americans Who Left the Labor Force in November. (Bloomberg, 12/2/11)

41: Average Number of Weeks Unemployed Americans Are Out of Work. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/2/11)

43%: Percent of Unemployed Americans Who Have Been Out of Work for 27 Weeks or More. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/2/11)

More Debt & Record-Breaking Deficits:

$15.130 Trillion: The National Debt as of December 29, 2011. (U.S. Treasury Department, Accessed 12/29/11)

$4.5 Trillion: Amount That Has Been Added to the National Debt Since President Obama Took Office. (U.S. Treasury Department, Accessed 12/29/11)

During President Obama’s Time in Office, Washington Has Racked Up the Three Largest Deficits in U.S. History. (Congressional Budget Office, 11/7/11)

99.7%: Current Federal Debt as a Share of GDP. (U.S. Treasury Department, Accessed 12/29/11; Bureau of Economic Analysis, 12/22/11)

25%: Increase in Non-Defense Discretionary Spending by President Obama When Democrats Controlled both Houses of Congress. (House Budget Committee, 2/3/11)

$48,376: Every American’s Share of the National Debt. (U.S. Treasury Department, Accessed 12/29/11; U.S. Census Bureau, Accessed 12/29/11)

With the New Year just days away, there are a few resolutions Washington Democrats owe the American people: less debt, more jobs, and fewer burdens on small businesses. As The Weekly Standard’s Yuval Levin noted recently, House Republicans have taken meaningful steps “to restrain the growth of government, cut spending, reform how Congress works, and end the uncertainty in the economy to help get Americans back to work.” The Republican-led House will move that effort forward in 2012 by continuing to implement the Plan for America’s Job Creators, a framework built on the Pledge to America and designed to create a better environment for private-sector job growth. It is up to President Obama to urge Senate Democrats to pass more than 25 bipartisan, House-passed jobs bills that are languishing on their doorstep. Americans cannot afford another year of broken promises and failed policies.

Americans can not afford another year Mr. Speaker? What is to happen if President Obama is given four more years to further the far left Liberal debt-spending, job-killing policies that started in 2007 with the Democrats taking over both houses of Congress? It is a disservice to the American public that the politically correct Republican members of Congress are basically remaining silent during the 2012 GOP nomination process. Take a stand for whom you believe is the best candidate and help them win the nomination, as opposed to sitting on the PC fence waiting for the establishment GOP and the media to pick the candidate. Show some courage for once.

Here’s to a real Happy New Year for everyone in America in 2012. One that starts with working to put a true conservative in the White House and is strengthened by a 2012 election-style grassroots tidal wave taking over the U.S. Senate.

2 Abortion Doctors Charged With Murder – 35 Fetuses Found In Freezer

Two abortion doctors have been arrested and charged with murder, related to abortions of late-term fetuses that were viable, after a discovery of 35 fetuses in a freezer at a clinic in Maryland. One of the fetuses was believed to have been aborted at 36 weeks. Steven Brigham, was taken into custody on Wednesday in New Jersey and is charged with five counts of first-degree murder, five counts of second-degree murder, and one count of conspiracy. Nicola Riley, his coworker, is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder and is being held in a Utah jail. According to the Maryland State Board of Physicians, both Brigham and Riley have both had their medical licenses suspended by the state of Maryland.  They are awaiting extradition back to Maryland.

This stems from an investigation which began August 2010 after Riley brought a woman, who was 21 weeks pregnant, to a Elkton hospital because of a “complication resulting from a medical procedure”. Investigators later determined the woman had driven from New Jersey, where the abortion was started, to Maryland. The laws in Maryland are less restrictive than in nearby states with regard to late term termination of a fetus. This more than likely explains why the procedure was initiated elsewhere and completed in Maryland. Some states require that later abortions be performed at a hospital or surgical center rather than a doctor’s office. In New Jersey, pregnancies after 14 weeks cannot be ended at a doctor’s office.

ABC 2 News reported

During that procedure something went wrong and her uterus was perforated. The doctors drove the woman to Union Hospital but did not stick around.  The victims injuries were so severe she was later transported by helicopter to Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Surgery was done to repair the failed abortion.

HR 2977 – The Epitome of the Socialist Mentality

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and if you are Congress, it is also the season to stuff as many pet projects into the next omnibus spending bill as you possibly can. Of course they seem to do this 365 days a year. There is one measure, however, lurking in the recessed corners of Capitol Hill that, I believe, is the very embodiment of a philosophy that has damaged or destroyed many of the great countries of the past. It is the “I know what’s best for you” mentality. When it’s your parents talking to you this way, it’s called life. When it’s your government talking to you this way, it’s called socialism.

Meet House Bill 2977. On the surface this only seems to be a benign attempt to introduce a dollar coin into the American currency. After all, the previous three attempts: the Susan B. Anthony coin, the Sacajawea coin and of course the recently terminated presidential coin have been such raging successes, right? Folks that are my age and older can remember how the Susan B Anthony’s were often confused with quarters and, to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Sacajawea or presidential coin, other than the old Eisenhower. These endeavors were always sold as a deficit reducing measure because, after all, coins last much longer than dollar bills. There’s only one problem – WE DON’T WANT THE DAMN THINGS!!

But of course Congress, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that once again the best thing for all of us is to lug around pounds of dollar coins in lieu of the flimsy bill. What is different this time, is the fact that this will not be a voluntary act. HR 2977 calls for the mandated change from a paper dollar to a coin. In other words, you’re getting them whether you like them are not!

HR 2977 was created as one of the many genius deficit reducing plans given forth by that counsel of legends – the super-committee. You remember the super-committee don’t you? Twelve of the most partisan people in Washington stuffed together in a room trying to agree on what to order for lunch.  Having that fail miserably didn’t exactly instill a lot of confidence in me that this all-star group would be able to come to an agreement on deficit reduction. Of course, we all know that the super committee died an infamous death, it’s body still rotting in the open. Yet HR 2977 managed to stay alive, hiding out in the basement of government stupidity, waiting for its chance to shine in the wee hours of the morning while no one is watching. This is the only way a bill like this will ever pass, because if the American public got hold of the notion that there currency was being changed by mandate, they would have a collective conniption fit!

This is much more than just having the extra burden (pun intended) on the American people. It shows once again that our current group of lawmakers has no actual clue as to how our economy really works. It makes you wonder if any of them (all of which are 1%-ers by the way) have the first clue as to what a regulation like this will do to small businesses. For example, what if you owned a Laundromat? Perhaps your company supplies vending machines or cash recognition machines or video-game machines. Will Congress cover the thousands of dollars it will cost these businesses to comply with this new set of regulations? This is a rhetorical question folks, please don’t fracture your head trying to think about it!

Of course not! People who prefer symbolism over real substance never think this far into the future. They just want to publicity that goes along with them proclaiming to the unwashed masses that they have reduced their deficit! Reducing our freedom to choose, and in this case reject, something as fundamental to a society as the appearance of currency, doesn’t seem to be nearly as important as getting those cameras trained on you so that you can tell everyone that you worked hard into the night to reduce the national debt.

You can’t swing a dead cat in Washington DC without hearing some politician give a sound bite about how important the small business owner is to the engine of our economy. Yet at the same time, they don’t have the first clue how that engine really works. If they did, they wouldn’t even consider a bill like 2977, much less pass it.

The last thing they want is a proposal like this to reach the light of day before it is passed in the dark of night. So in keeping with previous American terrorists like George Washington, Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and Thomas Jefferson, I am proud to scream about this at the top of my lungs!

Let’s think about what this is going to do to small businesses.  If it is indeed passed, we already know from previous experiences that the American public will simply not tolerate a dollar coin, especially when it is being forced upon them. But this won’t stop another unfunded mandate from being dumped on the small business owner. Of course, in order for the small business owner to stay in compliance and continue to be a law-abiding businessperson, they will have to comply with the new regulations regardless of the cost. Then, when it is repealed over the outcry, these same business owners will have to pay again to convert back.

A useless regulation, an uproar, and thousands of dollars out of the pocket of the true engineers of our economic train – this will be the legacy of HR 2977. That and the fact that this is yet another testimony to the arrogance of those on Capitol Hill and in the White House who think they can run our lives better than we can.

When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can guarantee one thing – that the supporters of Paul will always vote for you. It’s bad enough that we seem to have crossed a line whereby there are more voters, or at least potential voters, that are on Paul’s side. This is usually when, as Alexis De Tocqueville said, a democratic society realizes it can vote itself billions of dollars out of the public till. Unfortunately, this is going to continue as long as we have a majority of people who are perfectly willing to have a top-down, nanny state, “take your medicine like good boys and girls” society.

If you’re frustrated as hell like I am about this, I suggest you sit down and write a letter, pick up the phone or at least shoot an e-mail to your representative and senators. Let them know that not every person in America has been anesthetized and some of them are still ready to fight for the country that was given to them. Let them know that silly measures like HR 2977 are completely and totally unacceptable and that our memories of things like this will last well past November 6, 2012.

Gingrich gets weepy when talking about his mom

At a Des Moines town hall on Friday, presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich got a bit teary-eyed when he was talking about his mother:

Later in her life she ended up in a long-term care facility. She had bipolar disease and depression…My whole emphasis on brain science comes in directly from dealing with the real problems of real people in my family. And so it’s not a theory. It’s, in fact, my mother.

Verizon misses BoA lesson, tries fee, then cancels it

On Friday, Verizon wireless announced that it will no longer be adding a $2 fee to customers that wish to pay their  bill using the pay-by-phone or on the internet.

The “convenience fee” would have been waived for anyone that paid their bills by sending in the payment by mail or if a customer set up recurring payments that automatically deducted from their bank accounts.

The new fee brought out anger from customers especially since Verizon had recently experienced trouble keeping it’s 4G and activation networks working properly over the Christmas holiday.

The fee announcement and resultant consumer outrage was reminiscent of the Bank of America debit card fee and the scenario ended much the same way.

On Friday afternoon, Verizon said that they are no longer discussing the fee.

Obama makes January anti-slavery month

In a presidential proclamation, Barack Obama announced that January will now be National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

The full proclamation:

Nearly a century and a half ago, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation — a document that reaffirmed the noble goals of equality and freedom for all that lie at the heart of what it means to live in America.

In the years since, we have tirelessly pursued the realization and protection of these essential principles. Yet, despite our successes, thousands of individuals living in the United States and still more abroad suffer in silence under the intolerable yoke of modern slavery.

During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we stand with all those who are held in compelled service; we recognize the people, organizations and government entities that are working to combat human trafficking; and we recommit to bringing an end to this inexcusable human rights abuse.

Human trafficking endangers the lives of millions of people around the world, and it is a crime that knows no borders.

Trafficking networks operate both domestically and transnationally, and although abuses disproportionally affect women and girls, the victims of this ongoing global tragedy are men, women and children of all ages.

Around the world, we are monitoring the progress of governments in combating trafficking while supporting programs aimed at its eradication. From forced labor and debt bondage to forced commercial sexual exploitation and involuntary domestic servitude, human trafficking leaves no country untouched.

With this knowledge, we rededicate ourselves to forging robust international partnerships that strengthen global anti-trafficking efforts, and to confronting traffickers here at home.

My administration continues to implement our comprehensive strategy to combat human trafficking in America.

By coordinating our response across federal agencies, we are working to protect victims of human trafficking with effective services and support, prosecute traffickers through consistent enforcement, and prevent human rights abuses by furthering public awareness and addressing the root causes of modern slavery.

The steadfast defense of human rights is an essential part of our national identity, and as long as individuals suffer the violence of slavery and human trafficking, we must continue the fight.

With the start of each year, we commemorate the anniversaries of the Emancipation Proclamation, which became effective on January 1, 1863, and the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery, which was signed by President Abraham Lincoln and submitted to the States for ratification on February 1, 1865.

These documents stand as testaments to the gains we have made in pursuit of freedom and justice for all, and they remind us of the work that remains to be done.

This month, I urge all Americans to educate themselves about all forms of modern slavery and the signs and consequences of human trafficking. Together, and in cooperation with our partners around the world, we can work to end this terrible injustice and protect the rights to life and liberty entrusted to us by our forebears and owed to our children.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 2012 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, culminating in the annual celebration of National Freedom Day on February 1.

I call upon the people of the United States to recognize the vital role we can play in ending modern slavery and to observe this month with appropriate programs and activities.

Happy Kwanzaa – Now Give Us All Your Money, Greedy Capitalst Pigs! (Kwanaa Series continued)

Ujamaa (cooperative economics) and Nia (purpose)

My series on Kwanzaa and why I think it is antithetical to American values continues with the fourth and fifth principles of Kwanzaa, Ujamaa and Nia. You can read Parts 1-4 of this series here, here, here and here.

It is no secret that Kwanzaa has its basis in Marxism. These third and fourth principles of this modern “holiday” speak to that fact loud and clear. Ujamaa is the principle of “cooperative economics” and Nia is the principle of “purpose”.  Although these principles are celebrated on two different Kwanzaa days, they fit together quite snugly in the Kwanzaa basket.  Kwanzaa founder Ron Everett (Maulana Ron Karenga) explains it best in his 2011 annual Kwanzaa newsletter: Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) reaf- firms the ethics of the harvest, shared work and shared wealth. It thus is opposed to in- equitable distribution of wealth, and re- source monopoly and plunder by the rich and powerful. And it teaches us to privilege the poor and vulnerable, and uphold the right of all peoples to live lives of freedom, dignity, well-being and ongoing develop- ment. Ujamaa also urges us to give rightful recognition and support to the small farmers and farm workers of the world for the vital role they play in feeding and sustaining peo- ple and the planet, especially in the context of the globalization of agriculture and its destructive effects on the lives and lands of the people.

The principle of Nia (Purpose) teaches us to embrace and respond creatively to the collective vocation of restoring to our peo- ple the position and possibilities of great achievements thru doing good in the world.

For the sacred teaching of our ancestors in the Husia say that “the wise are known by their wisdom and the great are known by their good deeds.” And in the Odu Ifa, they tell us that we “humans are divinely chosen to bring good in the world” and that this is the fundamental mission and meaning in human life.

Classic Marxist humanism right down the comfortable use of the word “collective” (which, as an avid Trekkie also reminds me of the distinguished Captain Picard and his awful experience at the hands of the Borg Collective; sorry, had to nerd out there for a second) and the idea that our purpose in life is help by redistribution rather than starting in our homes by bettering ourselves and our families.  We’ve seen  the policies of redistribution put into place around the world and it has led to tyranny and poverty every single time.  Greece handed their entire country over to redistribution and they are now witnessing the collapse of their own society.  The African nations Karenga holds in such high esteem over our own traitor-nation of America have been practicing redistribution for decades.  Americans have been transferring their wealth to Africans for many, many years via the United Nations, food programs and other foreign aid.  Thus far our billions and billions in American aid has been liberally redistributed in Africa…to African dictators who murder and abuse their own citizens; they let the people starve while they distribute much needed aid money to their personal associates, private bank accounts and lavish lifestyles. Redistribution is just a fancy way of saying “stealing”, and Kwanzaa is based on the idea of redistribution – a policy that is proven to create criminals and despots around the world.

Kwanzaa is not the peaceful, mult-cultural “holiday” our schools lead our children to believe it is.  It is a direct attack on American values, capitalism and freedom.  It is born of the man who created a militant organization in the ‘60s known as US, as in “us against them”… need anything more be said about that.  As we wind down our Kwanzaa exploration with the final day falling on New Year’s,  I will be sure to talk more about the founder’s criminal record and shady history.  Just as Karenga and his followers feel it is necessary for Black people to understand their history in order to “rights the wrongs of the past”, I feel it is equally important to understand the history of a manufactured holiday whose founding father is a criminal and a racist.

Democrats Regulating the Dead

Personal preferences are a reliable method of distinguishing between conservatives and Democrats. Conservatives believe personal preferences are just that: personal and particular to the individual. When others don’t share his preferences a conservative looks for more congenial companions or surroundings. Sometimes he even takes the initiative and creates a like–minded opportunity in the private sector.

Democrats believe their personal preferences are so noteworthy and have such a significant bearing on the future of society that it’s only fair these indispensible preferences be imposed on the public by force of law.

Which brings us to Democrat Alvin Tillman, a third–term member of the council in Terrebonne Parish, LA, who evidently does not have enough to occupy his time. Tillman is personally offended by the chroma culprits who paint their family tombs anything but white, which is Tillman’s preferred color.

“We want to stop this before it gets out of hand,” Tillman was quoted by the Associated Press. “Before you know it you’ll go out there and the cemetery will look like Mardi Gras.”

Since this is Louisiana — where being dead is no bar to exercising the franchise in favor of Democrats on election day — it could be that Tillman is simply responding to the wishes of his electoral base.

So he intends to persuade the council to pass a law. Unfortunately for his finely–tuned sense of aesthetics, his law will only apply to public cemeteries that are government–owned.

Not only will Tillman ban future non–white paint jobs, he won’t grandfather, so to speak, tombs that have already been painted. Those owners will be required to repaint their tombs, much like cab owners in DC will be required to repaint their cabs a uniform white if Councilwoman Mary Cheh, another Democrat member of the color police, gets her way.

In the South there is bad precedent for government intrusion in cemetery management. When local government was under Klan influence, it wasn’t concerned so much about the color of the tomb as it was focused on the color of the customer. In many marble orchards the tombs and the dead were uniformly white.

Tillman may be personally biased against tombs–of–color, but Louisiana has a long history of using paint to customize family tombs. The AP story also quotes an expert who observes, “Historically, the limewash used on family tombs was colored in shades of yellow, ochre, pink, gray and red.”

White on the outside, instead of the inside, is a recent development.

Personally, I think a tomb of almost any color beats the soggy Teddy Bear and defeated balloon piles dotting the roadside that pass for memorials here in Prince William County. At least in Terrebonne Parish the decoration is in close proximity to the deceased.

Judge Gideon Tucker once said, “No man’s life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.” But in Louisiana you don’t even have to be alive to be at the mercy of a politician’s whims.

Ford Brand Sales Top 2 Million for 1st Time Since 2007

DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 30, 2011  /PRNewswire/ — U.S. sales of the Ford brand this week topped 2 million vehicles for the first time since 2007. The milestone makes Ford (NYSE: F) the best selling brand in America and the first automotive brand to hit the 2 million mark since 2007.

“Ford’s lineup of high-quality, fuel-efficient cars, utilities and trucks continues to attract more and more new customers,” said Erich Merkle, Ford’s sales analysis manager. “With gasoline prices tracking higher than last year, customers continue to move toward smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, whether they are passenger cars or utilities.”

Ford’s smallest utility, the fuel-efficient Escape, has achieved record sales volumes this year and is America’s best selling utility vehicle.

2012 GOP Primary: Iowa Caucuses are a Media Sham

The Republican roller-coaster ride, also known as the 2012 GOP Presidential primaries took another wild swing recently – this time into the dark tunnel known as Ron Paul Libertarianism as he leaped into the lead in some polls in Iowa last week.

The race currently appears to be a three-way cliff hanger between Romney, Gingrich, Santorum and Paul with Perry way back. Santorum’s recent rise to third place in the polling appears to have come at the expense of Gingrich, as $9 million dollars of attack ads run by Romney and Paul have also succeeded in pushing Gingrich backwards.

The Iowa caucuses are just a few days away, and basically there is no clear-cut frontrunner right now. Regardless of who wins in the Iowa caucuses, the only true beneficiary of this charade will be none other than the State of Iowa, as the economy has received a much needed boost from the roller-coaster ride of so many different candidates leading at one time or another, thus resulting in more campaign spending across the state. This appears to be the sole reason for the state of Iowa demanding to be first in line every year , with their caucus being held this year on Jan 3rd.

Should Ron Paul win Iowa, while it would give him some temporary momentum heading into the New Hampshire primaries, the chances of Paul beating the former Governor of Massachusetts in any Northeastern state are somewhere between slim and none. Mike Huckabee won Iowa too, and yet he was trampled in the big winner-take-all states of Florida, N.Y., and California. By the way, after Huckabee won the Iowa caucuses in 2008, John McCain won all of the Iowa delegates votes, as was written here at CNN Politics. “The history of the Iowa caucuses is actually a case study in the power of the media to shape — or warp, depending on your point of view — the nomination contest.”

While a victory in early Iowa gives the media plenty of firepower to skew the nominating process and manipulate voter’s perceptions of just who really is the best candidate, keep in mind that John McCain all but ignored the Iowa caucuses in 2008, yet won all of the Iowa delegates votes, as the majority of big states got behind McCain. Iowa has a history of falling in line with whatever candidate the establishment GOP pushes for later on in the election year. They also did this with Obama over Hillary in 2008, although Obama won the Iowa caucuses and the media used that to push for him over Hillary.

Mitt Romney is spending massive amounts of campaign cash in Iowa right up until the night of the caucus voting. Likewise with Ron Paul, Gingrich and now Santorum can be expected to try to buy national media attention with a win in Iowa. Yet as John McCain has proven, it could be all for naught, as winning the Iowa caucus doesn’t even assure the winner of receiving the delegates vote in the end. Romney has plenty of cash, and is hoping to knock out Gingrich as they head to New Hampshire, similar to what Obama did to Clinton in 2008 as seen in the above-linked CNN article:

This time around, Mitt Romney’s camp has tried to keep media expectations low in Iowa — never an easy trick when you’re seen as the national frontrunner and are therefore expected to compete everywhere. A first-place Iowa finish for the former Massachusetts governor — overcoming regional, religious, and ideological obstacles — could set Romney up for a huge win the following week in neighboring New Hampshire. It could also signal an early end to the nomination fight. (emphasis mine)

Should Ron Paul win in Iowa, it will result in one thing and only one thing: It will help Mitt Romney knock off the only serious contender to his status as the frontrunner, Mr. Newt Gingrich. This is the media game known as the Iowa caucuses, and it is a total disservice to conservative voters across America. For true conservative voters the choice is as simple as choosing between concrete or jello in 2012. The concrete solutions and legislative accomplishments that resulted in the first rock-solid balanced budget in 40 years in America of Newt Gingrich, or the non-defined, wishy-washy moderate bowl of jello known as Mitt Romney.
